Accounting Analysis On Financial Accounting
Accounting has many branches that it can be divided into. It can be divided into several areas of
activities. Accountings main branches are financial accounting, Management accounting, Cost

Comparison Of Creon In Sophocles s Antigone
The ancient Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero once said, Never go to excess, but let
moderation be your guide. This is a lesson that us as a society can learn and practice; it warns of the
dangers of extremism in all aspects. Moderation is an important balance in the context of our everyday
lives because our desires cannot trump our ability to make positive decisions. If we base our decisions
on current events, the effects may come back to harm us in the end. In Sophocles tragedy, Antigone
audiences are shown the consequences of going against the lessons of moderation and the ways in
which characters let their desires overcome their decision making. Both and Creon and Antigone learn
this lesson when they, in fact let their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way he addresses them exemplifies his unwillingness to change for anybody, he finds it almost
laughable that they would alter his actions. Creon is again shown a good argument, that his own son
will die if he kills Antigone; however, because he does not accept that other people can alter his way
of doing things, he dismisses his son s threat later in the passage. Only a stubborn person would be
faced with the suicide of their son, and brush it off as bluff, and deny their involvement. Blindsided by
his own stubbornness, Creon finally meets his faith when he heads to Antigone s place of captivity to
see Her [Antigone] hanging by her neck... whereon the poor demented boy [Haemon] Leaned on his
sword and thrust it deeply into his own side. (159) Creon arrived to see Antigone dead and his son
killing himself, however there can t be sympathy for someone who brought it upon themselves. He
dismissed all people who got in his way, his son as well as his constituents, and he was met with the
unavoidable. As predicted by his son, he killed himself, therefore proving that Creon s stubbornness
lead directly to his son s death. Creon finally accepts his wrongs, but that is after he dismissed and
denied all contrasting arguments. Creon s downfall is by no doubt caused by his stubbornness, he had

Scalability at Youtube
Scalability at YouTube
Problems Youtube was facing
First of I will start talking about the problems they faced at YouTube was facing. YouTube has faced a
lot of problems in its life time so far and the main issues they faced were with scalability. The main
reason YouTube faced so many issues was due to its large and rapid growth, YouTube went from a
small website to a technology giant and large player in the IT industry practically overnight. The
solution to dealing with this large and sudden growth was to keep things simple, by using simplicity
this allowed YouTube to cope with the large growth. The simplicity approach was used to conquer a
lot of problems. Make it simple, look for the simplest solution to a problem, sure the problem ... Show

At YouTube the use of python makes doing this easier as the dynamic nature of python makes it easier
to do. In other words no matter how bad your API is you can stub or modify or decorate your way out
of a lot of problems .
Other scalability techniques used by YouTube would be to say that they cheated a little or to say
instead of data being correct it is approximate correctness. What is meant by cheating is that not all of
their servers are consistent at the same time a good example of this is that if a user writes a comment
on a video then instead deploying that comment to all servers in the network and keeping all data
consistent what they have done at YouTube is they done it so that the system does not have to have
globally worldwide consistent transactions. Meaning that when the a user rights a comment on a video
he/she sees that comment instantly however someone on the other side of the world may not see that
comment for a couple milliseconds, in other words the cheat. The data will be consistent in the end,
the comments are not financial transaction therefore it is essential that you know when to cheat, for
example if it was a financial transaction where a user is purchasing something then it is not good
enough for the data must be consistent. Another main part of the cheating technique is knowing when
to fake data, for example to say that The fastest function call is the one that doesn t or hasn t

Adaptation Of Lady Macbeth
In his Macbeth adaptation (1971) Roman Polanski s makes various intriguing and meaningful
decisions to underscore the subjects of aspiration, culpability, and the corruption related to supremacy.
From his unprecedented position, the most fascinating decision was the choice to give Francesca
Annis the role of Lady Macbeth. Customarily, Lady Macbeth is a more established figure in the story,
and her control over Macbeth is that of a solid willed spouse. Be that as it may, by making a 26 year
old physically alluring woman perform Lady Macbeth, Polanski is able to affect Lady Macbeth and
her maneuvers with an extra layer of enticement. This can be analytical, in light of the fact that while
the underlying motivation for Macbeth s conquest is surely given by the ... Show more content on

His aspiration is mainly to satisfy her and fulfill his maximum capacity in her eyes. Besides, in this
renowned, Out, damned spot sleepwalking scene where Lady Macbeth can not clean her hands from
nonexistent blood, Polanski has Francesca Annis play the scene completely naked. This gives
weakness and impotence to Lady Macbeth, a truly appalling sight given the past manifestations of her
mettle. Here, we see this solid, attractive woman lose countenance before our eyes, and our sentiments
for her turn to pity.
Her nakedness, effectively represents the stripping away of her act. Obviously, her prayers to the
spirits were not fulfilled, as she is troubled by sentiments of regret. The scene is brimming with
incongruity as she has experienced a complete inversion of her previous, false self. Rather than
longing for darkness, she now has light by her continually . While she derided at Macbeth s terror of
the blood he had on his hands, saying a little water was all that was required, she is presently
compulsively cleaning her hands, visualizing they are deeply embedded with blood: here s the smell

Arguments For And Against Code Switching
The ongoing debate for and against Code switching is demonstrated by reviewing the papers of
Vershawn Young and Rebecca Wheeler. Mr. Young voices his harsh disapproval of code switching in
his paper, Should Writers Use They Own English? (Young 111) . This is offset by Rebecca Wheeler s
gently persuasive technical paper explaining her implementation of Code switching which she titled,
Code Switch to Teach Standard English (Wheeler 108) . After re reading both papers several times,
trying to move past the emotion, and return to the point of having a US Standard English, I remain
with my personal definition of the purpose of US Standard English as a tool to communicate. Before
we delve any further, let me share my understanding of communications. In the communications
industry (think Telephone), there is a simple rule, in order for successful communication, the sender
speaks their thoughts, which the telephone converts into an electronic signal that travels across a
transmission medium, to the receiver s telephone where the signal is converted back into speech for
the receiver to hear. If this process fails at any point, then communications fails. Applying this to
written communications, if the sender writes in French and the receiver only speaks Japanese, then
communications fails because the receiver could not understand what was written. To overcome this a
translator of some form must be engaged to insure that the sender and receiver utilize the same
language. Being more

Video Game Design as a Career Essay
I was drawn into video game design because I love video games and technology. Playing video games
increased my interest in video game design. I already know having an interest in video games and
knowledge about computers helps while becoming a video game designer. I hope to gain knowledge
about their role in creating a video game, what they do daily, and their income. Video game designers
have a unique role in creating a video game. They create fun by communicating with gamers and
adjust the difficulty or pace based upon their reaction or feedback. They create complex puzzles and

as you progress through the game. They also have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Video game design is not just playing video games, a lot of stress and hard work is involved. The life
of a videogame designer is not all glamorous. Expect to work long hours, especially towards the end
of the project. The average hours a week are around 40 hours and $28 an hour. In 1999, the average
videogame designer made $35,000 $75,000 a year. The future of videogame design is looking great.
The interest of video games is raising, and a lot bolder audience plays them. Video games have
outgrown many other industries in a short period of time, and have already become a multi billion
dollar industry and rising. I researched a video game designer because I wanted to know about their
role in creating a video game, what they do daily, and their income. A video game designer needs good
communicating skills in order to improve the content of the game. Also, it is not as easy job as it
seems a lot of stress and hard work is involved. Finally, the interest of video games is rising as video
games appeal to a wider audience.

Springfield Descriptive Paragraph
As I stepped out of the car, the smell of the hot asphalt hit me. I heard the low rumble of voices and
the high pitched screaming of babies. Mothers were hustling their children toward the stadium. Little
boys with their favorite team plastered on their shirts ran past me, eager to enter the ballpark. Nearing
the ticket booth, the smell of popcorn wafted through the gates. This was the ultimate way to spend a
summer night, at a baseball game.
After paying our way to get in, my dad and I found our seats. It was my birthday and my father had a
special treat in store. He had gotten us front row seats, a very rare occasion for me. Son! Let s go, the
game is about to start, said my father. We excitedly rushed down to take our seats. The players were

our batter stepped up to the plate. The visiting team s catcher signaled the pitcher. In slow motion, I
saw the pitcher throw a fastball and a few seconds that seemed like minutes went by, and I heard a
crack. The loudest, wood shattering crack of the game. I looked up and the ball was on it s way over
the fence into the crowd towards me. I raised my glove up with a small hope of catching it. Come on
son, you got this. This one s yours! yelled my dad. A second later I felt something smack my glove. I
was in utter disbelief, and everyone cheered around me. This night had gotten so much better than it
already was. The game was over, we had won. Fireworks erupted above the stadium and lit up the
night sky like it was daytime. We did it son, we did it! We re going to the playoffs! yelled my dad

Right-To-Bear Arms
Right to Bear Arms
In 2013 states with gun restrictions had more shootings than states without any laws. The right for
U.S. citizens to bear arms is completely beneficial, and without their legality it would cause more
problems than it would solve. Owning a gun gives the owner a feeling of protection, and if your
attacker thinks you may be concealing a weapon they would definitely be less likely to rob you or do
anything in attempt to harm you. Banning guns entirely would have huge implications, which would
not be good for anyone. Without guns our safety would be at risk, and without that feeling of
protection it will be a weight that you constantly carry and will withhold your from true identity and

Eyeshadow Persuasive Essay
Purple eyeshadow offers the makeup aficionado lots of options. From smokey matte shades to glittery
standout tones, there are lots of purple shadows to choose from. With plenty of types to choose from,
it can be a staple color in your makeup bag.
How to choose eyeshadow?
Several ways to choose an eyeshadow exist. First, you can select an eyeshadow based on your skin
tone. (In fact, this is a way to choose your whole makeup palette.) If you go this route, select colors
that don t make you look washed out. Try a little color on the inside of your wrist. Neutral colors
flatter warmer skin tones, whereas silver, blue, or purple eyeshadows work better on cool skin tones.
You can also choose your eyeshadow and makeup based on when you re going to wear it. For
example, those who like purple eyeshadow should get soft, muted tones like lilac or mauve for
daytime wear. Save the smokey violet pigment palettes for nighttime. Same goes for choosing liners.
Heavier liners in darker colors should be saved for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cool toned eyeshadows with a bit of shimmer are more appropriate for nighttime.
What s the difference between eyeshadow and eyeliner?
Both of these types of makeup are applied to the lids of the eye. It s where they are applied (and their
consistency) that sets them apart, generally speaking. Eyeliner is painted around the lash line. Some
people prefer to wear it on only one lid (top or bottom), while others like to wear it on both.
Eyeshadow is mostly worn on the the upper lid and can extend from the lashes to the eyebrows.
Typically, shades in the darker palettes like deep purples, dark browns, rich burgundies, and the like
are placed in the crease of the lid as well as close to the edges and sometimes under the eyes. Lighter
tones work better up toward the brow bone.
Companies like Maybelline, L Oreal, and ColourPop all carry different types of eye

True And False In Alan Turing s Life

Alan Turing s life. Although, most of his work is shrouded in mystery, we still have quite a bit of
history on the man. Firstly, in the movie, we are showed that Alan has feelings for his dear friend
Christopher and that Turing attends an all boys academy. This, in fact, is true. Christopher did
genuinely exist and the school at which they attended was called Sherborne School in Dorset. In the
film we learned that Alan Turing was a homosexual, scared and closeted about his true identity. Once
more, this is another true fact. Unfortunately, Turing was in a time period where being gay was a
disgrace and outlawed in England. He was convicted in 1952

The Australian Textile, Clothing And Footwear Essay
The Australian Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) industry operates in a global environment and
the role of transportation management is an important component that must be explored. Therefore,
this report will set out to analyse its function within the TCF framework and in particular its
pertinence to Billabong International, one of the industry s largest companies. An overview of the TCF
industry and Billabongs role within it, will need to be given, to explain the context in which the
transport function operates. Secondly, it is important to identify the optimal transport modes and
clarify reasoning behind those choices with comparison to industry best practice. Importantly,
technological advantages in Billabongs transport partners and the benefits to its entire supply chain are
to be explored. It is also important to analyse risks and challenges involved in choosing transport
modes and finally conclusions will be made on the findings of this report. Additionally, any alterations
required to assist the future transport choices of Billabong will be recommended. 2. The Textile,

was strolling along, almost to the restaurant when a bluebird swooped down and snatched the love
potion from Alan s grip. Ah ah oh you come back here bird! That s mine! shrieked Alan. He dashed
after the bird until he could no longer run. The bird landed, and Alan could see the bird sipping the
potion. Alan s jaw dropped. He pondered upon what it would do to animals. The wise man hadn t said
anything about animals. That was supposed to be for Diana! Now what am I going to do? Alan spoke
out loud to himself. The bird was staring at him. Go away bird. However, the bird did not go away.

and started pacing towards the restaurant where he was meeting Diana. He was still going to meet
Diana, even if she wasn t going to fall in love with him today.
Alan stepped up to the door of the restaurant. It was a glass door so he could see his reflection. He

Essay On Genetic Change
( removed HTML ) How is the Field of Human Genetics Changing? ( removed HTML )
Compared to just fifteen years ago the applications and horizons of genetic science have expanded
enormously, far beyond simply describing how DNA contributes to the formation of life here on earth.
The most important practical advances have built on the completion of the Human Genome Project in
2003, started in 1990. At the associated research cost of over $3 billion US dollars (c.$2.7 billion
actual), a combined research initiative succeeded in fully sequencing the genomic makeup of one
human.
The prototype for human gene sequencing via chemical analysis that this process gave to science has
been refined over the last decade. Continuous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The complete implications and structure of our individual, unique genetic codes are still not fully
understood. However, genetic sequencing and research in the biological sciences have opened up the
potential to diagnose and treat genetic illnesses and key health vulnerabilities through sequencing
analysis at all stages of life. Doctors are better placed to identify the root genetic causes of disorders
and illnesses, as advances in associating certain bits of genetic code to certain outcomes have
expanded the number of known genetic links to maladies from 60 in 1990 to over 5000 (as of 2013).
Future analysis of so called junk DNA with no obvious associations to gene expression will form a
large part of raising that number even further.
Individual genomic analysis allows for better targeted medication and the identification of tumor
causing DNA code. Pre natal genetic screening for genetic disorders and disabilities in a fetus can also
be performed via blood testing, reducing the need for other, invasive forms of medical testing. The
newly developed gene editing tool, CRISPR, also offers the possibility of eliminating or changing
defective genomic sections easily. While designer babies may still be science fiction, these recent
advances in genetic technology have taken us much closer to the possibility and ethical implications of
creating bespoke human beings.
From this, it seems that genetic

Black Identity And Missing Identity
Boo! Ghosts are the most popular halloween costumes with children. Perhaps the popularity comes
from the idea that children like hiding their true identity, a fascination that will continue into
adulthood. In Native Guard, Natasha Trethewey is a half white and half black woman who has trouble
incorporating her black heritage into her life therefore missing a piece of her identity. In Heart of
Darkness by Joseph Conrad, characters described as a phantom or shade indicate missing or different
identities. In The Circle by Dave Eggers, the employees live through what the circle tells and have no
original ideas which stems from their missing identity. them Ghosts are the soul of a once living
person, but they are incomplete in that they are missing emotions or major characteristics of a human.
Because of these missing pieces, ghosts represent missing identity.
In Native Guard by Natasha Trethewey, the poet has a difficult time letting both her white father and
black mothers culture into her life and her black culture is described as ghostlike because the black
culture is the missing part of her true identity. The Civil War divided the United States which most
people try to forget. Although Americans would like to pretend that slavery and inequality never
happened in the United States, the unjust actions continue as a part of history and is still represented

Engineer Wonders of the Qin and Han Dynasties to The Roman...
I have been fortunate enough through my travels to have trans versed the Great Wall of China, which
was constructed by Qin Shihuang in order to unify the six states, he ordered General Meng Tian to
connect the existing walls and to extend them further as a front line defense against possible invasion,
it was an exhilarating experience, the piece of the wall I started to ascend, it was extremely steep with
four levels, the configuration of the wall was unusual, in the design of the steps, they were built in a
non uniform format. The steps ranged in various sizes, from approximately 4 to what seemed like 12 ,
so in turn , it made the climb very uncomfortable, it also showed me that I was defiantly out of shape,
but I did eventually make it to the second level, and looking over the mountain terrain, and along the
hillside where it was built, I had a rush of adrenaline and realized that the Wall of China, was every bit
as exhilarating to me today, as the day it was constructed. This engineering, of the Qin dynasty was
truly an amazing feat. I will examine some key elements, while comparing the Qin, and Han
dynasties, to The Roman Empire. Both cultures had implemented an impressive, society by
introducing engineering wonders, an extensive political system that managed vast amounts of people,
and a military to rule over their territories. While looking at the Han, Qin, and Roman structures, one
interesting tidbit of information was that the great WALL of China is the only

One Hundred Years Of Solitude By Gabriel Garcia Marquez,...
With 220,000 dead in Colombia and one million in both Mexico and Nigeria, the impact of civil wars
still pierces the literature in these countries (Roser and Nagdy). However, the works that grew out of
the bloodstained soil in these countries differs from literature written after a civil war in other parts of
the world. Unlike most countries, culture in Colombia, Mexico, and Nigeria is still rich with
superstition and mythological themes that bleed into the works of the authors that live there. Because
of this, authors in these countries often write in the genre of magical realism, which combines aspects
of fantasy and reality in writing, as noted by Thomas Alwa Edison in the International Journal of
Multidisciplinary Approach and Studies. In One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia
Marquez, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, and The Famished Road, by Ben Okri, the

Characteristics Of Veristic Surrealism
Surrealism As the world began healing from World War I, modern artists decided to listen to their
subconscious minds. Surrealism was a new style of art that formed from Dadaism. The leader of
surrealism, André Breton, believed that because surrealism required unique thoughts, it showed an
active mind. Not only is surrealism found in art, it is also found in theater, literature, philosophy, and
politics. The creation of surrealism is achieved by abstract or realistic images that may be bursting
with voice or cold and impersonal. Bending the principles of design to give new feelings could create
this feeling. After World War I, European artists explored their unconscious minds to create
compositions that challenged common beliefs of artistic and emotional expression. Surrealism can be
difficult to categorize due to the differences in styles and methods of creation. The two main
surrealism techniques, automatism and veristic surrealism, are shown by various views of the
conscious and unconscious. The focus of automatism is feelings. The emphasis of theses artists is less
analytical. They think of their art as a way to connect the subconscious to the conscious. This usually
results in a lack of form. Veristic surrealism is a way to link spiritual realities to the material world.
They used objects as metaphors to show inner reality and to understand the real world. Dadaism was
the style that later morphed into surrealism. It was a coping mechanism after World War I. The Dada

Have you ever had that creepy feeling that someone is watching you, but when you look around no
one is there? Or wonder how everyone seems to know your every move? That could be how we would
feel on a daily basis if we really were to implement some of the ideas Dave Eggers puts forth in his
book, The Circle. Concepts such as secrets are lies , undisclosed ideas can be a detriment to the
company; sharing is caring , every aspect of your life should be shared with others; and privacy is
theft , concealment of ideas is robbing everyone of advancement. The impact to our society if these
fictional ideas were fully developed and mandated could be devastating. Some of the ideas Eggers
explores are not all that far fetched. It is known that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Major Robert Gregory s Life After World War I
As Winston Churchill once proclaimed, We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we
shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the
streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, the subject of An Irish Airman foresees his
Death, Major Robert Gregory, is the embodiment of this mentality, since he still becomes an airman in
World War I, even though he acknowledges his imminent death. As the title implicates, Gregory will
eventually die, and did so on January 23, 1918, when he was inadvertently shot down. Then, William
B. Yeats, a close friend of Gregory, decided to honor him by creating various poems, such as An Irish
Airman foresees his Death, in which Yeats attempts to view the war from Gregory s viewpoint. From

This shows that he cautious about this issue, not wanting to provoke any backlash from his work.
Unfortunately, without the tragic incident, Gregory s death, that unfolded during World War I, this
poem would not have likely come to fruition. The theme is evident throughout the poem, starting with
the title, as it includes the word death. The subject sees death as an inevitable part of his life, and most
likely joined the war after [he] balanced all [and] brought all to mind and viewed his life as The years
to come seemed to waste of breath, / [and] waste of breath the years behind when compared with [the
speaker s new] life, [and] death. This leads to an interpretation that he has accepted that death is
imminent and in fact, is welcoming it since he know[s] that [he] shall meet his fate/ Somewhere
among the clouds above. There are other interpretations to this poem, but the readers can discern this:
death is certain and

The Theme Of War In Trojan Barbie
The average theater goer might consider only the actors, the director, and the script as he or she
attempts to critique a play. However, much more occurs behind the scenes than meets the eye. What
the average theater attendee may overlook are the design elements that enhance a production: set
design, costume, lights, and sound. These combined elements work together to support the work of the
actors by creating an atmosphere that aids the audience in connecting with a production. In the play
Trojan Barbie, these design elements are connected by a common theme of war. In Trojan Barbie, the
theme of war is evident in the set design. As I walked into Tatum theatre, I felt as though I was
entering a war camp. There were tin barrels tipped over, and the ground looked as though it was
covered in dirt. Metal fences were hanging from the upstage, and tall platforms were erected in front
of these fences where I imagined soldiers would stand to watch the prisoners throughout the day.
Along with platforms, wooden boxes and a wooden chair were strewn haphazardly on the ground. I
could picture this scene being the result of a battle. The colors of the set were colors that I connect
with war: browns, greens, and black. In addition to the set, the actors carried the weapons of war. The
soldiers carried guns of varying sizes and types, and these guns were on the soldiers at all times,
showing they were continuously on duty watching over the women in the camp. The second design

Introduction to Soccer Essay
Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United
States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates
back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to
a global pastime, including men s and women s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four
years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient civilizations. The modern
version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started as a game involving kicking
and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby and football (which is what the
English call soccer). Around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight yards
apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long socks, for
protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also wear a special
padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated by the Federation
Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and 130 yards, and a width
of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The
referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a
kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it
down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent s goal. If the ball is kicked off the
field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw in, where the ball is thrown over the
player s head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the goal, or across the width of the
field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the ball is placed on the corner of the
field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal kick, where the ball is placed on
the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. If a goal is scored, the ball is taken back to the

Freedom of Expression Essay
Freedom of Expression
Freedom of expression, and open access to media, are as fundamental to the survival of Progress as
the sun and rain are to the survival of planet Earth. Yet censorship remains a traditional response of
any group that finds itself offended at another s message or creative indulgence.
The argument that because they serve the public interest, media should willingly accept a moral arbiter
to decide what will and what will not be disseminated is both uninformed and dangerous. The biggest
problem is that nobody will have the opportunity to vote for the people charged with determining what
information is left on the cutting room floor. Worse yet, certain lower life forms with an eye on world

The Plight Of Young Males
As discussed in a recent essay by Saul Kaplan The Plight of Young Males , there is a serious academic
gender achievement gap in the United States and as I will discuss, around the world. Young women
are doing significantly better than young men, and the results are shocking. In the latest census, males
make up 51 percent of the total U.S. population between the ages of 18 24. Yet only 40 percent of
today s college students are men. Since 1982, more American women than men have received
bachelor s degrees. In the last ten years, two million more women graduated from college than men.
As Kaplan reveals, the average eleventh grade boy writes at the level of the average eighth grade girl.
He also states that women dominate high school honor rolls and now make up more than 70 percent of
class valedictorians. Kaplan says, I am happy to see women succeeding. But can we really afford for
our country s young men to fall so far behind, (733)?
Historically boys were top of the class. Today that is no longer the case. A recent article in The
Economist discusses a 2009 study by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co operation and
Development) that examined how 15 year old boys and girls performed in reading, mathematics and
science. They found that girls are performing better than their male classmates. This gender gap is
worldwide. Girls score higher than boys on tests measuring reading ability in every country in the
world (Loveless).

Importance Of Integrity In The Military
This I Believe This I believe is a very vague question in terms of what I believe. I have a multiplex of
beliefs, yet one of my cardinal beliefs is integrity. Integrity is knowing that you re honest and fair,
which is what I live by. It s a level of respect you give which results in a positive outcome on your
character as a human being. It s a trait not everyone has fortitude to achieve and not one of those traits
you re born with, it s one of those traits you develop over the span of your life as you attain
understanding. When I initial set foot in the military I had no concept of what integrity was or what it
denoted. As I grew in the military and worked my way up the ranks integrity developed in me and
transcended my life and the way I reasoned. It impacted the way I observed the word and the military
entirely. If person has no integrity when they enter the military they will develop it if they stay in to

The Zodiac Signs and Human Behavior Essay
The Zodiac Signs and Human Behavior My belief is that the nature of our behavior is based on
astronomy; hence the reason that people who share the same zodiac sign have very similar
characteristics, and sometimes a combination of people with certain zodiac signs cannot get along or
are very compatible. Sometimes I can tell from a person s sign because of their behavior, and likes and
dislikes. Learning more about astrology and the zodiac signs helps us to understand people and their
actions. Many argue that it is coincidence, but the odds are too high to be that. It was not up until 200
years ago that people started identifying their zodiac sign with the position of the Sun. So when a

Therefore, water energy tends to defy our meager attempts at coming up with rational explanations
and descriptions. In astrology, the element of water is associated with feeling, sensitivity, and emotion.
All three Signs placed in the element of water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are rather difficult to
describe or measure out their true essence. Most Geminians, the sign of the twins which are ruled by
Mercury, have identical characteristics to their sign. On the downside, they have a tendency to
criticize, complain, be ungrateful, and be deceitful. Their good qualities include: being adaptable,
congenial, expressive, and clever. Learning to make a firm decision and sticking to it is one of their
most difficult tasks. Geminians are sometimes said to have split personalities; meaning that the first
impression you get from them is usually followed by one in contrast. Hence the symbol; the twins is
used to describe the two sides of their personality. Signs in a complementary element are considered to
be quot;sextile. quot; If you play quot;connect the dots quot; on an astrology chart, quot;sextile quot;
Signs (together with the quot;trine quot; Signs) form a six sided star. The exception to this is that
people with their Suns in the opposite Sign (complementary elements) are considered to be in Sign

The Influence Of Playing Pokemon Go
Participating in the survey were 193 high school and middle school aged students from a mid sized
southeastern school. Forty four percent of the respondents were male, and 56% were female. Seventy
eight percent of the respondents were between the ages of twelve and fifteen, while 22% of the
respondents were between the ages of sixteen and eighteen. Only about 1 of 10 students (9.8%) said
that when Pokemon Go was popular they played every day. However, roughly 3 in 10 students
(31.6%) answered that when it was popular their friends played every day. The hypothesis stated:
Males play video games significantly more than females. As the results demonstrate, there was a
significant difference between males and females with respect to playing Pokemon Go while it was
popular ( t= 4.507, p .05). More specifically, males played Pokemon Go at a much higher rate (M=
2.00) than females (M=1.38). Although the results were not as strong, there was also a large difference
between males and females with respect to perception of their friends playing (t=2.627, p=.009). The
results of this question show that males believe their peers play much more (M= 2.77) than females

different tests. Some of these include: oxidase test, fermentation tests, and catalase test. DNA
fingerprinting was also conducted on the unknown sample, in order to provide another accurate means
of identifying our DNA sample. The main objective for the identification lab was to be able to use
known methods to identify our bacteria, including being able to follow a flowchart to aid in the

materials required included: microscope slide, crystal violet, distilled water, Gram s iodine, 70% ethyl

that was performed for this experiment, after a subculture of the bacteria was made. Gram stains are
performed by first heat fixing the sample, the covering the surface with crystal violet (20 sec),
washing with distilled water for 5 secs, covering the surface with iodine for one minute, decolorizing

which required adding drops of 3% hydrogen peroxides to our sample. After getting a positive results
for the catalase test (it bubbled), we performed a coagulase test (we had to add some of our sample to
rabbit plasma and let the plasma incubate). This test yielded a negative result, and we carried on with
the oxidase test. For this test, we added a reagent to the sample, and if it turned blue then that would

Case Study Of Ronald Harry Coase

Ronald Harry Coase (29.12.1910 02.09.2013), was a famous British Economist and author. The main
part of his live, he was a professor at the University of Law School in Chicago. He started studying
with the University of London External Programme in 1927. After, he entered the London School of

Besides, he established the case for the corporation as a means to pay the costs of operating a

Mease offered an example with honey bees, in which he tried to explain the externality problem,
where in his opinion; the Coase Theorem does not provide a practical solution. When bees graze on
the flowers of various crops, neighbouring farmers benefit the beekeepers in that area. However, when
the farmers do not benefit themselves; they have a low incentive to grow nectar rich crops. Meade
argued that since bees are assumed not respecting property rights or keep contracts, there is no
practical way of applying the Coase Theorem. Either the farmers must be subsidized or the
inefficiency of joint production of crops and honey must be accepted. (Meade, 1952) Important note is
that Meade wrote this article before the article of Coase was published, so not in a response. In two
later articles, supports of Coase demonstrated that the criticism of Meade was wrong. They showed
that contracts between beekeepers and farmers had been common practise in the industry already.
(Friedman, n.d.) Even though the Coase Theorem solves this practical problem, the assumption that it
will solve all problems cannot be made. However, it does imply that it may provide a solution to a
wider scope of problems that at first guess were

Mormon Stereotypes
Mormonism, the largest church to originate on American soil is not without its own burdens to bear.
As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the foundations of the other already established
religions in the United States, it is often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern day social
media, television, news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist and exaggerated
certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by the media leads the
public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction of the Mormons. Some of the
more extreme behaviors exhibited by members that have separated from the main group are used
against the entire faith by the media, so in turn this extremist view has become a Mormon stereotype.
History of Mormonism The Mormon faith dates back to the year 1830 when Joseph Smith, the
founder along with 5 other men gathered together to form what they initially called The Church of
Christ. This was later changed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Moving to Palmyra,
New York in 1816 with his parents and seven siblings, Joseph Smith and his family found themselves
confused and troubled by the opposing churches in the area. His family tried to associate themselves
with the Presbyterian Church for a time. Then his father shifted his interest to Methodism, but none of

Anaerobic Respiration In Sports Drinks
Sports drinks are used to rehydrate athletes during and after exercise. However, the efficiency of these
electrolyte drinks has been questioned.
During respiration glucose from food is added to oxygen to form ATP,C02, and H20. During exercise,
glucose and oxygen are used at a much faster rate due to increased muscle contractions. There are two
types of respiration; aerobic and anaerobic. During aerobic respiration, glucose is added to oxygen to
produce CO2,H20, and 38 ATP molecules. However, during high intensity exercise, the oxygen supply
is less than the demand. Because of this, anaerobic respiration takes over. This type of respiration can
occur without oxygen, however ,it only produces 2 ATP molecules in comparison to 38. In addition ...

Before exercise, the cell and its surroundings are in an isotonic state. This means that there is the same
amount of water and molecules on both sides of the membrane. During exercise, water is lost at a
faster rate through perspiration. Therefore, the cell goes into a hypotonic state, which means that the
water rushes into the cell via osmosis; the movement of water from an area of high to low
concentration. The majority of sports drinks are isotonic. Some scientists argue that the isotonic state
of sports drinks renders them ineffective in regards to cellular hydration. It has been argued that
because water isn t entering the cell during an isotonic state, performance is impaired due to improper
cellular hydration. It should be noted that sports drink consumption after exercise is detrimental. After
exercise, glucose demand slows down. When the supply of glucose from sports drinks is greater than
the demand,it is eventually converted to fat via lipogenesis. In addition to the negative effects of
sports drinks, it is also important to take into consideration, the fact that glucose/electrolyte
requirements and sport drink ingredients will vary. Therefore, while one sports drink could improve
performance for one person, it could be ineffective for someone else. Also, sport drinks are likely

The Progressive Montessori School System
Perhaps it was an unintentional cruelty on the part of my parents to enroll me first in the progressive
Montessori school system that encouraged critical thinking and creativity, followed by an evening
catholic school program that required unquestioning obedience to a monolithic religious dogma. When
I began the sixth grade the window of an English professor and a family friend gave me access to his
extensive library and personal text notes because of my growing interest in literature. In the first few
months of my library visits, the Catholic program phoned my mother to discourage my further
attendance in both the church and the educational program. I had begun incessantly probing my young
Catechism instructor about the faith, and his unsatisfactory response had prompted my protests and
refusal to participate in any religious ceremonies or sacraments. I had discovered both the Antichrist
and Civil Disobedience during my forays into the library, and though I was unable to grasp the
intricacies of these texts, the basic messages resonated with my experiences of perceived oppression
and religious conditioning. The library was my Pandora s Box, and it allowed me to escape into places
and ideas far removed from what I thought to be a banal existence in a small historic village in the
Appalachian Mountains. My youthful rebellions, and inquisitiveness, though often misguided and
misplaced, were not to be tempered in my adult life. As a high school student I was emboldened by an

their hate secrets when I m [Bromden] nearby because they think I m deaf and dumb. Everybody
thinks so. With Bromden s intelligence he notes that, If somebody d of come in and took a look, men
watching a blank TV, a fifty year old woman hollering and squealing at the back of their heads about
discipline and order and recriminations, they d of thought the whole bunch was crazy as loons.
because he knows that the ward makes the men crazy, not their own minds. Watching a blank TV
because Nurse Ratched shouts at you too is a over exaggerated version of reality, and how people like
political leaders give the orders while we all obey. In the ward the Chief is taken over by a fog of fear
that consequently began in his time in the ward because he fears society in which he has not been able
to face in many years. In the fog dreams the reader is able to learn about society through the
metaphors of his dreams because they all have the same meaning: society craves conformity. Being a
tall Indian man, Bromden feels out of place in the ward, so he steps away from others and becomes
deaf and dumb because he feels as though he doesn t fit. Chief Bromden s fog dreams give the reader

Dear Professor,
With great pleasure I submit this semester paper that we have been assigned as an essential
requirement for this course, Sustainable Construction. I found the study to be quite interesting,
beneficial and knowledgeable. I have tried my best to prepare an effective and creditable paper.

My results fell into the LEED categories as follows, one under sustainable site (Cyclepods), one under
water efficiency (CISTA Rainwater Harvesting System), three under energy and atmosphere (Solar
Water Heater, Solar Water Bulb and Planting trees close to buildings), four under materials and
resources (ERO Robots, Bubble Deck Concrete System, Pitcher Filters and Pallet Furniture) and one
under indoor environmental quality (Houseplants). The main source of gathering information was
based on online research and personal knowledge from previous experiences. Some of the results
showed great benefits with minimal need of financial sources to install or maintain, others were more
technologically advanced, thus more expensive but served their purpose in an excellent manner in the
area of their field. In conclusion, the benefits of these results affect the personal health, the
environment and the economy. More awareness and dedication to these studies would increase the
efficiency of those products and their availability to the people.
Introduction
With the prosperity of economy, more facilities and infrastructure are needed to cope with the
economic development. The Construction sector have an essential role in it, therefore increasing the
pressure on natural resources that could affect the environment on all levels. Some guidelines were
prepared by US Green Building Council (USGBC) in the form of a certification program

Archetypes In Harry Potter
One of the main reasons for the success of Rowling s Harry Potter is the universality of the different
story elements which unconsciously, perhaps subtly satisfies readers. By cleverly weaving the
characteristic archetypes that famous psychotherapist Carl Gustav Jung mapped out in the year 1947,
Rowling illustrates multiple fairytale tropes. In The Philosopher s Stone, she incorporates one such
element: the archetype of the shadow , whereby the narrative of evil and good is put to question and
an underlying discourse on the Taoist concept of yin and yang emerges. By this notion, the presence of
Voldemort is necessary for the completion of Harry s character as a whole. By advancing this,
Rowling has helped raise a generation to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are twin wands, with entirely identical cores and yet, the owner of one becomes the Dark Lord
and the other becomes the saviour of the wizarding world. In the end, it all boils down to choice.
Voldemort and Harry make up one perfect whole because of their dichotomous personas. They interact
like the yin does with the yang. Carl Jung, in his book The Undiscovered Self, eloquently states: The
contradiction, the paradoxical evaluation of humanity by man himself, is in truth a matter for wonder,
and one can only explain it as springing from an extraordinary uncertainty of judgment in other words,
man is an enigma to himself (43). While it is evident that Voldemort and Harry function as inverse
reflections of one another, it is also true that the essential goal of each is to burn out the dross , which
one perceives in the other. Strength and ability are a major pillar in serving defeat to the shadow,
however, as Dumbledore puts it, It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than
our abilities (Secrets, 333). Harry chooses love over fear, his real self over his shadow. By upholding
his true, inner self, he is able to defeat his shadow, and consequently,

Target Corporation
The Target Corporation, what used to be known as the Dayton Dry Goods Co., is an American
retailing company that was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1902. In 1962, the first Target store
was opened in Roseville, Minnesota. It is the fifth largest retailer by sales revenue in the United States
behind Wal Mart, The Home Depot, Kroger and Costco. The company is ranked 33rd on the 2007
Fortune 500. Target operates its retailing business exclusively in the United States. It is a rival with
Kmart and Wal Mart. Target was listed in Internet Retailer s list of the top 500 retail web sites in 2007
also, this not only proves of brick and mortar sucsess but also online retail.

Target stores carry clothing, shoes, jewelry, health and beauty products, electronics, compact discs,
DVDs, bedding, kitchen supplies, sporting goods, toys, pet supplies, automotive supplies, hardware
supplies, and food. They also carry seasonal merchandise such as patio furniture during the summer
and Christmas decorations during November and December. Many stores may also have one hour
photo processing, a portrait studio, an optical store, a pharmacy, and a garden center. Stores opened or
re modeled in 2004 or later also include the expanded snack bar that is featured in Target Greatland
locations. These generally include a Starbucks Coffee shop, a Pizza Hut Express, and a Taco Bell
Express in addition to Target s Food Avenue. It has also been reported that Cold Stone Creamery and
Target have signed a deal to test in store ice cream shops in four stores. The first few Target stores
included leased supermarkets in addition to general merchandise, which during the time was a
common practice by discount retailers as they attempted to offer a one stop shopping experience to
customers. Douglas Dayton stated in 1967 that we believe that the discount grocery store is a
necessary ingredient in what we offer the customer. After all, food sales are about 40% of all
department store type merchandise sales, so the two kinds of stores go hand in hand and are

Spanking Is A Negative Consequences Of Disciplining Children
Discipline is very important in everyone s life. All parents try to do their best for their children.
However, this crucial issue is sometimes misunderstood by some parents when it comes to
disciplining their children. Some parents use a very controversial method known as spanking which is
a corporal punishment that can have tremendous consequences on a child s life. Although defenders of
corporal punishment argue that spanking allows parents to curb children s behavior, spanking has been
shown to have long lasting effects on a child. Not only does it teach children to be violent, it also
reduces the trust between parents and children. Furthermore, it makes a child experience resentment
towards his parents.
First, spanking is bad because it teaches children to be violent. When a child is hit for discipline, he
will experience aggressiveness, and while playing with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spanking gives children a kind of fear towards their parents because they bear in mind that if
something is wrong, they will automatically be punished, and this can be a burden they will carry into
adulthood. This lack of faith can sometimes lead to a certain kind of introverted behavior in some
children because their parents used to hit them when they say something wrong in front of their
friends. And this can be of greater impact on the child s mental health. Instead, as an alternative to
spanking, parents can choose to talk to their children, have an open dialogue where they can teach
them right from wrong without shouting or hitting.
Last, spanking can make a child feel resentment towards his parents. Children who are used to being
spanked develop a kind of bitterness that can rapidly turn into hatred because the child will have the
feeling that his parents don t care about him. In addition, what really interest them are the errors he
makes and how they are going to punish him. So in the end, the child will turn his back on his

Research Paper On Breaking Cosmic Ice
Breaking the Cosmic Ice
Scientists have shown that the Earth stops energetic neutrinos, according to data collected from the
IceCube array in Antarctica. High energy neutrino interactions monitored by the IceCube detector, an
array of 5,160 basketball sized optical sensors buried a mile deep in a cubic kilometer of exceptionally
clear ice near the south pole.
Neutrinos are infinitesimally small and nearly massless particles that surround us at any given
moment. Roughly one trillion from the Sun pass through a human s eyes every second, and they come
in three types (called flavors): electron, muon, and tauon neutrinos, each name corresponding to three
charged particles with which they pair. Since they interact so rarely, it s extremely ... Show more

The neutrino interactions analyzed have energies in the trillion electron volt, or TeV, range. A
mosquito puts out about one TeV. The detected neutrinos energy ranged from 6.3 TeV to 980 TeV.
Miarecki performed much of the data analysis whilst working toward her PhD as an IceCube
researcher. It s a multidisciplinary idea, she said in a news release. In order to understand if the cross
section of neutrinos detected matches Standard Model predictions, the analysis used input from
geologists who supplied models of the Earth s interior from seismic studies. With this, scientists were
able to compare their data with a simulation of neutrinos passing through the Earth.
In this study, researchers measured the flux of muon neutrinos as a function of their energy and their
incoming direction. Neutrinos with higher energies and with incoming directions closer to the North
Pole are more likely to interact with matter on their way through Earth. Image credit: IceCube
Collaboration
We created some of the data from seismic data bouncing off of various parts of the Earth, Miarecki
told Futurism. Putting together all the constraints, including the gravitational constriction of the Earth,
and you have a good model, she added. The bulk of detected neutrinos mass around the lower range,
with the high energy neutrinos growing scarce until the frequency of their occurrence passes beyond

Sarah Kane Crave Analyse
My over arching idea for my production of Crave is that I want to give the play some context while
also maintaining the theme that these characters could represent anyone. The reason I want to give the
play some background is because on my first read of the play, before I read the Saunders article in
which Sarah Kane talks about the relationships between C and A, and B and M, a lot of the themes of
the play were lost on me because I was so focused on trying to figure out what was going on. I know
Sarah Kane didn t want the characters to get stuck in specific categories, but by establishing
relationships between the characters I think the audience will be able to focus more on what the
characters are saying and less on trying to discern what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t want the rest of the stage to be dark though, as that would isolate the characters when I want
them to talk to each other, so the rest of the stage is slightly dimmer then the spots. The tone and color
of the fill lights changes slightly throughout the show, following the color changes of the cyclorama.
The cyc is my central design element for the show. When I read Crave, it seemed to me that the play
was divided into different emotional sections, and I want to use the cyc to reflect that. When the lights
come up after the characters enter, I want the cyc to be a medium dark purple, which I think helps give
the feeling that the play is taking place in the city, which is what I gathered from the dialogue. The
purple should be dark enough that it gives the audience a sense of unease, as each of the characters
relate depressing tales and talk heatedly with one another. When A begins his speech, I want the cyc to
fade into a bright amber that assaults the audience s eyes when it first appears. This symbolizes how
upon first glance, A s speech appears happy and innocent, which the color yellow is associated with,
but that yellow is tainted with something darker and sinister, making it amber. Then, when C mentions
being raped, I want the cyc to fade to a scarlet red, because this I think this marked the transition to the
most violent part of the play. Then when C says, No one can hate me more than myself , I want the
cyc to start transitioning to a medium blue. As the play continues, I want that blue to get continually
darker, symbolizing the characters sinking into despair. When B says Kill me , I want the cyc and all
of the lights to fade away, implying that the characters have passed away. Then for the last few lines of
the play, I want just the cyc to light up bright white, so you can only see the actors silhouettes. I want
the audience

  • 3. Comparison Of Creon In Sophocles s Antigone The ancient Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero once said, Never go to excess, but let moderation be your guide. This is a lesson that us as a society can learn and practice; it warns of the dangers of extremism in all aspects. Moderation is an important balance in the context of our everyday lives because our desires cannot trump our ability to make positive decisions. If we base our decisions on current events, the effects may come back to harm us in the end. In Sophocles tragedy, Antigone audiences are shown the consequences of going against the lessons of moderation and the ways in which characters let their desires overcome their decision making. Both and Creon and Antigone learn this lesson when they, in fact let their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The way he addresses them exemplifies his unwillingness to change for anybody, he finds it almost laughable that they would alter his actions. Creon is again shown a good argument, that his own son will die if he kills Antigone; however, because he does not accept that other people can alter his way of doing things, he dismisses his son s threat later in the passage. Only a stubborn person would be faced with the suicide of their son, and brush it off as bluff, and deny their involvement. Blindsided by his own stubbornness, Creon finally meets his faith when he heads to Antigone s place of captivity to see Her [Antigone] hanging by her neck... whereon the poor demented boy [Haemon] Leaned on his sword and thrust it deeply into his own side. YouTube has faced a lot of problems in its life time so far and the main issues they faced were with scalability. The main reason YouTube faced so many issues was due to its large and rapid growth, YouTube went from a small website to a technology giant and large player in the IT industry practically overnight. The solution to dealing with this large and sudden growth was to keep things simple, by using simplicity this allowed YouTube to cope with the large growth. At YouTube the use of python makes doing this easier as the dynamic nature of python makes it easier to do. Other scalability techniques used by YouTube would be to say that they cheated a little or to say instead of data being correct it is approximate correctness. What is meant by cheating is that not all of their servers are consistent at the same time a good example of this is that if a user writes a comment on a video then instead deploying that comment to all servers in the network and keeping all data consistent what they have done at YouTube is they done it so that the system does not have to have globally worldwide consistent transactions. Meaning that when the a user rights a comment on a video he/she sees that comment instantly however someone on the other side of the world may not see that comment for a couple milliseconds, in other words the cheat. The data will be consistent in the end, the comments are not financial transaction therefore it is essential that you know when to cheat, for example if it was a financial transaction where a user is purchasing something then it is not good enough for the data must be consistent. Adaptation Of Lady Macbeth In his Macbeth adaptation (1971) Roman Polanski s makes various intriguing and meaningful decisions to underscore the subjects of aspiration, culpability, and the corruption related to supremacy. From his unprecedented position, the most fascinating decision was the choice to give Francesca Annis the role of Lady Macbeth. Customarily, Lady Macbeth is a more established figure in the story, and her control over Macbeth is that of a solid willed spouse. Be that as it may, by making a 26 year old physically alluring woman perform Lady Macbeth, Polanski is able to affect Lady Macbeth and her maneuvers with an extra layer of enticement. Besides, in this renowned, Out, damned spot sleepwalking scene where Lady Macbeth can not clean her hands from nonexistent blood, Polanski has Francesca Annis play the scene completely naked. This gives weakness and impotence to Lady Macbeth, a truly appalling sight given the past manifestations of her mettle. Here, we see this solid, attractive woman lose countenance before our eyes, and our sentiments for her turn to pity. Her nakedness, effectively represents the stripping away of her act. Obviously, her prayers to the spirits were not fulfilled, as she is troubled by sentiments of regret. The scene is brimming with incongruity as she has experienced a complete inversion of her previous, false self. Rather than longing for darkness, she now has light by her continually . • 6. Arguments For And Against Code Switching The ongoing debate for and against Code switching is demonstrated by reviewing the papers of Vershawn Young and Rebecca Wheeler. Mr. Young voices his harsh disapproval of code switching in his paper, Should Writers Use They Own English? (Young 111) . This is offset by Rebecca Wheeler s gently persuasive technical paper explaining her implementation of Code switching which she titled, Code Switch to Teach Standard English (Wheeler 108) . After re reading both papers several times, trying to move past the emotion, and return to the point of having a US Standard English, I remain with my personal definition of the purpose of US Standard English as a tool to communicate. Before we delve any further, let me share my understanding of communications. In the communications industry (think Telephone), there is a simple rule, in order for successful communication, the sender speaks their thoughts, which the telephone converts into an electronic signal that travels across a transmission medium, to the receiver s telephone where the signal is converted back into speech for the receiver to hear. If this process fails at any point, then communications fails. Applying this to written communications, if the sender writes in French and the receiver only speaks Japanese, then communications fails because the receiver could not understand what was written. To overcome this a translator of some form must be engaged to insure that the sender and receiver utilize the same language. Being more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, genetic sequencing and research in the biological sciences have opened up the potential to diagnose and treat genetic illnesses and key health vulnerabilities through sequencing analysis at all stages of life. Doctors are better placed to identify the root genetic causes of disorders and illnesses, as advances in associating certain bits of genetic code to certain outcomes have expanded the number of known genetic links to maladies from 60 in 1990 to over 5000 (as of 2013). Future analysis of so called junk DNA with no obvious associations to gene expression will form a large part of raising that number even further. With 220,000 dead in Colombia and one million in both Mexico and Nigeria, the impact of civil wars still pierces the literature in these countries (Roser and Nagdy). However, the works that grew out of the bloodstained soil in these countries differs from literature written after a civil war in other parts of the world. Unlike most countries, culture in Colombia, Mexico, and Nigeria is still rich with superstition and mythological themes that bleed into the works of the authors that live there. Because of this, authors in these countries often write in the genre of magical realism, which combines aspects of fantasy and reality in writing, as noted by Thomas Alwa Edison in the International Journal of Multidisciplinary Approach and Studies. In One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, and The Famished Road, by Ben Okri, the magical and the realistic components of their plots must be inseparable so that their authors, through characters, may accurately reflect the cultural effects of colonialism and civil wars and symbolically ... • 21. Characteristics Of Veristic Surrealism Surrealism As the world began healing from World War I, modern artists decided to listen to their subconscious minds. Surrealism was a new style of art that formed from Dadaism. The leader of surrealism, André Breton, believed that because surrealism required unique thoughts, it showed an active mind. Not only is surrealism found in art, it is also found in theater, literature, philosophy, and politics. The creation of surrealism is achieved by abstract or realistic images that may be bursting with voice or cold and impersonal. Bending the principles of design to give new feelings could create this feeling. After World War I, European artists explored their unconscious minds to create compositions that challenged common beliefs of artistic and emotional expression. Surrealism can be difficult to categorize due to the differences in styles and methods of creation. The two main surrealism techniques, automatism and veristic surrealism, are shown by various views of the conscious and unconscious. The focus of automatism is feelings. The emphasis of theses artists is less analytical. They think of their art as a way to connect the subconscious to the conscious. This usually results in a lack of form. Veristic surrealism is a way to link spiritual realities to the material world. They used objects as metaphors to show inner reality and to understand the real world. Dadaism was the style that later morphed into surrealism. It was a coping mechanism after World War I. The Dada ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to a global pastime, including men s and women s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient civilizations. The modern version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started as a game involving kicking and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby and football (which is what the English call soccer). Around ... Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long socks, for protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also wear a special padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and 130 yards, and a width of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent s goal. If the ball is kicked off the field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw in, where the ball is thrown over the player s head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the goal, or across the width of the field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the ball is placed on the corner of the field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal kick, where the ball is placed on the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. The Plight Of Young Males As discussed in a recent essay by Saul Kaplan The Plight of Young Males , there is a serious academic gender achievement gap in the United States and as I will discuss, around the world. Young women are doing significantly better than young men, and the results are shocking. In the latest census, males make up 51 percent of the total U.S. population between the ages of 18 24. Yet only 40 percent of today s college students are men. Since 1982, more American women than men have received bachelor s degrees. In the last ten years, two million more women graduated from college than men. As Kaplan reveals, the average eleventh grade boy writes at the level of the average eighth grade girl. He also states that women dominate high school honor rolls and now make up more than 70 percent of class valedictorians. Kaplan says, I am happy to see women succeeding. But can we really afford for our country s young men to fall so far behind, (733)? Historically boys were top of the class. Today that is no longer the case. A recent article in The Economist discusses a 2009 study by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co operation and Development) that examined how 15 year old boys and girls performed in reading, mathematics and science. They found that girls are performing better than their male classmates. This gender gap is worldwide. As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the foundations of the other already established religions in the United States, it is often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern day social media, television, news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist and exaggerated certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by the media leads the public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction of the Mormons. Some of the more extreme behaviors exhibited by members that have separated from the main group are used against the entire faith by the media, so in turn this extremist view has become a Mormon stereotype. During respiration glucose from food is added to oxygen to form ATP,C02, and H20. During exercise, glucose and oxygen are used at a much faster rate due to increased muscle contractions. There are two types of respiration; aerobic and anaerobic. During aerobic respiration, glucose is added to oxygen to produce CO2,H20, and 38 ATP molecules. Before exercise, the cell and its surroundings are in an isotonic state. This means that there is the same amount of water and molecules on both sides of the membrane. The majority of sports drinks are isotonic. Some scientists argue that the isotonic state of sports drinks renders them ineffective in regards to cellular hydration. It has been argued that because water isn t entering the cell during an isotonic state, performance is impaired due to improper cellular hydration. It should be noted that sports drink consumption after exercise is detrimental. After exercise, glucose demand slows down. By cleverly weaving the characteristic archetypes that famous psychotherapist Carl Gustav Jung mapped out in the year 1947, Rowling illustrates multiple fairytale tropes. In The Philosopher s Stone, she incorporates one such element: the archetype of the shadow , whereby the narrative of evil and good is put to question and an underlying discourse on the Taoist concept of yin and yang emerges. It has also been reported that Cold Stone Creamery and Target have signed a deal to test in store ice cream shops in four stores. The first few Target stores included leased supermarkets in addition to general merchandise, which during the time was a common practice by discount retailers as they attempted to offer a one stop shopping experience to customers. Douglas Dayton stated in 1967 that we believe that the discount grocery store is a necessary ingredient in what we offer the customer. After all, food sales are about 40% of all department store type merchandise sales, so the two kinds of stores go hand in hand and are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Spanking Is A Negative Consequences Of Disciplining Children Discipline is very important in everyone s life. All parents try to do their best for their children. However, this crucial issue is sometimes misunderstood by some parents when it comes to disciplining their children. Some parents use a very controversial method known as spanking which is a corporal punishment that can have tremendous consequences on a child s life. Although defenders of corporal punishment argue that spanking allows parents to curb children s behavior, spanking has been shown to have long lasting effects on a child. Not only does it teach children to be violent, it also reduces the trust between parents and children. Furthermore, it makes a child experience resentment towards his parents. First, spanking is bad because it teaches children to be violent. When a child is hit for discipline, he will experience aggressiveness, and while playing with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spanking gives children a kind of fear towards their parents because they bear in mind that if something is wrong, they will automatically be punished, and this can be a burden they will carry into adulthood. This lack of faith can sometimes lead to a certain kind of introverted behavior in some children because their parents used to hit them when they say something wrong in front of their friends. And this can be of greater impact on the child s mental health. Instead, as an alternative to spanking, parents can choose to talk to their children, have an open dialogue where they can teach them right from wrong without shouting or hitting. Last, spanking can make a child feel resentment towards his parents. Children who are used to being spanked develop a kind of bitterness that can rapidly turn into hatred because the child will have the feeling that his parents don t care about him. In addition, what really interest them are the errors he makes and how they are going to punish him. So in the end, the child will turn his back on his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Research Paper On Breaking Cosmic Ice Breaking the Cosmic Ice Scientists have shown that the Earth stops energetic neutrinos, according to data collected from the IceCube array in Antarctica. High energy neutrino interactions monitored by the IceCube detector, an array of 5,160 basketball sized optical sensors buried a mile deep in a cubic kilometer of exceptionally clear ice near the south pole. Neutrinos are infinitesimally small and nearly massless particles that surround us at any given moment. Roughly one trillion from the Sun pass through a human s eyes every second, and they come in three types (called flavors): electron, muon, and tauon neutrinos, each name corresponding to three charged particles with which they pair. Since they interact so rarely, it s extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The neutrino interactions analyzed have energies in the trillion electron volt, or TeV, range. A mosquito puts out about one TeV. The detected neutrinos energy ranged from 6.3 TeV to 980 TeV. Miarecki performed much of the data analysis whilst working toward her PhD as an IceCube researcher. It s a multidisciplinary idea, she said in a news release. In order to understand if the cross section of neutrinos detected matches Standard Model predictions, the analysis used input from geologists who supplied models of the Earth s interior from seismic studies. With this, scientists were able to compare their data with a simulation of neutrinos passing through the Earth. In this study, researchers measured the flux of muon neutrinos as a function of their energy and their incoming direction. Neutrinos with higher energies and with incoming directions closer to the North Pole are more likely to interact with matter on their way through Earth. Image credit: IceCube Collaboration We created some of the data from seismic data bouncing off of various parts of the Earth, Miarecki told Futurism. Putting together all the constraints, including the gravitational constriction of the Earth, and you have a good model, she added. The bulk of detected neutrinos mass around the lower range, with the high energy neutrinos growing scarce until the frequency of their occurrence passes beyond the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Sarah Kane Crave Analyse My over arching idea for my production of Crave is that I want to give the play some context while also maintaining the theme that these characters could represent anyone. The reason I want to give the play some background is because on my first read of the play, before I read the Saunders article in which Sarah Kane talks about the relationships between C and A, and B and M, a lot of the themes of the play were lost on me because I was so focused on trying to figure out what was going on. I know Sarah Kane didn t want the characters to get stuck in specific categories, but by establishing relationships between the characters I think the audience will be able to focus more on what the characters are saying and less on trying to discern what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I don t want the rest of the stage to be dark though, as that would isolate the characters when I want them to talk to each other, so the rest of the stage is slightly dimmer then the spots. The tone and color of the fill lights changes slightly throughout the show, following the color changes of the cyclorama. The cyc is my central design element for the show. When I read Crave, it seemed to me that the play was divided into different emotional sections, and I want to use the cyc to reflect that. When the lights come up after the characters enter, I want the cyc to be a medium dark purple, which I think helps give the feeling that the play is taking place in the city, which is what I gathered from the dialogue. The purple should be dark enough that it gives the audience a sense of unease, as each of the characters relate depressing tales and talk heatedly with one another. When A begins his speech, I want the cyc to fade into a bright amber that assaults the audience s eyes when it first appears. This symbolizes how upon first glance, A s speech appears happy and innocent, which the color yellow is associated with, but that yellow is tainted with something darker and sinister, making it amber. Then, when C mentions being raped, I want the cyc to fade to a scarlet red, because this I think this marked the transition to the most violent part of the play. Then when C says, No one can hate me more than myself , I want the cyc to start transitioning to a medium blue. As the play continues, I want that blue to get continually darker, symbolizing the characters sinking into despair. When B says Kill me , I want the cyc and all of the lights to fade away, implying that the characters have passed away. Then for the last few lines of the play, I want just the cyc to light up bright white, so you can only see the actors silhouettes. I want the audience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

STUDENT NAME: Bailey Jacobs EMAIL: bjaco50@eq.edu.au TEACHER: F Stevenson D Harman K Podlich A Brown Statistical Inferences Purpose: In this unit we have studied how to: comparing techniques for collecting data in primary and secondary sources. Making sense of the position of the mean and median in skewed, symmetric and bimodal displays to describe and interpret data. Constructing histograms and back to back stem and leaf plots. Calculate relative frequencies Investigate data used and its validity Now it is your turn to demonstrate your fluency and understanding of these concepts in applying your knowledge from simple through to complex application in real life and theoretical contexts. Task Are we a typical Australian Year 9 class? In this task you will collect, process and compare data of body measurements from two groups: your mathematics class and an ABS CensusAtSchool sample. Your teacher is looking for evidence of mathematical understanding, fluency and problem solving and reasoning abilities, not only correct answers. When using a calculator, show enough working so that your teacher can see the method used. Content: Identify everyday questions and issues involving at least one numerical and at least one categorical variable, and collect data directly from secondary sources.
