Atoms for Peace Analysis Essay
Dwight D Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States from 1953 1960, is revered as a
statesman and great military leader. Born in Texas in 1890 and raised in Kansas to a family that valued
education, Eisenhower began a long career as a leader and military officer upon his graduation in 1915
from West Point. Eisenhower is recognized for his leadership and oratorical skills which he applied to
both military endeavors and managing the nation. He was fortunate to be mentored by General Fox
Conner, in the Panama Canal Zone. Conner encouraged him to study important works of history,
military science, and philosophy which Eisenhower applied to his own efforts and experiences.
Eisenhower later moved up the military ranks to five star ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience s biases and beliefs both impeded and helped Eisenhower s proposal. Eisenhower s
diction was appropriate for his audience; though he used some jargon, the members were able to
understand because of their level of knowledge. His appeals, mostly to pathos and ethos, were
effective. He established ethos by addressing the meeting with France and Great Britain, and through
his position as President. Eisenhower s use of rhetoric allowed his audience to be receptive to his
argument. In Eisenhower s introduction he does not construct the reality and frame the question
effectively. He does not make his purpose clear in his introduction either. Even though in the first
paragraph Dwight mentions that his speech will be about the issues of society today, he does not
mention those issues much farther in the text. The structure of his arguments contribute to his
persuasion. Eisenhower would begin by telling the audience what the issues at hand are, then would
say his solution to each problem. For example, around the 21st paragraph, Eisenhower uses a first,
second and finally method. In those, he states some issues such as, the knowledge now possessed by
several nations will eventually be shared by others possibly all others. Then Dwight goes to suggest
the solution or solutions to the previously stated problems. Also, throughout the piece, he

Online Enlistment, Clearance, and Classroom Management...
Chapter 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing plenty of forms, to
getting cleared, enlisting subjects, and scheduling. Some schools even have subject advisement before
and after the enlistment phase. All these processes were done manually and were very time
consuming. Now however, with the option of porting all these operations over the internet, they have
become faster to do, more convenient, and easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems
for clearance, enlistment, and classroom management of Cosmopoint International Institute of
Technology (CIIT) and propose an online system to manage these tasks. It will discuss the ... Show

Executive Summary
The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if they are eligible
to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester. Students will login to the website and
they can view all the subjects they have already taken, their grades on these subjects, subjects that they
are eligible to take for the next trimester, the schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects,
and the student s clearance status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that he is
eligible to take for the next trimester. He will also be able to choose the schedule of the said subjects if
there is more than one class being offered. After picking the subjects and schedule, he will be shown a
completed assessment form that he can print out. He will then bring this form to the school registrar
where he can pay the necessary fees and be officially enrolled. Professors of CIIT will be able to
upload their students grades online. School administrators can change a student s clearance status
online for any reason that they see fit. Actions done will be logged. All these processes are currently
being done manually by CIIT. It is tedious and time consuming for a lot of the students and the school
s registrar office. The Online Enlistment and Clearance System aims to replace these with an easier

Candidates And Policy Of The United States Senate Elections
The names of the authors that wrote an article titled Candidates and Policy in the United States Senate
Elections are Gerald C. Wright and Michael B. Berkman. Although the previous literature on the
subject suggests, that policy is not a major factor in the decision making process, the article argued
otherwise.
It is a known fact that a substantial policy difference between the candidates in a particular race exists.
Policymakers write specific policies for the future and an election determines who will write the
policies, which decides the policy. The ideological characteristics of a state and a candidate for a
political office has a positive correlation. Conservative states or districts have conservative candidates
regardless of party affiliation. Meanwhile, liberal states or districts have liberal candidates regardless
of party affiliation.
Besides, the performance of the economy and of the president, assuming that the president and the
candidate share the same party, affects the chances of the candidates. This is evident in almost all
midterm elections in the modern era. If a president (Democratic President Obama) has perceived as
not doing a good job and has a low approval rating (the mid 40s throughout much of his presidency),
then congressional candidates in the midterm elections are not in their best position. Accordingly,
Democrats lost the House of Representatives and some seats in the United States Senate in the 2010
midterm election. The Democratic Party lost the

Digital Art And Its Impact On Contemporary Culture
Digital art is a discipline that brings together all artistic works created with or involving digital media.
This paper aims at addressing the various areas of research associated with the ideas of digital art,
starting from the history, through its various dimensions and demonstrations, working and
functionalities of computer, significant work in the area and ending with the emergence of various
ideas that surrounds this developing discipline.
The history of digital art, which can be more broadly referred to as electronic art, is not only written
whilst affected by the consolidation of the aesthetic and foundation that Stewart Brand claims for
contemporary culture, but also in the very acceptance of digital art by the institutions and curators of
the art world. It is a reality that digital art has remained in a transition for a considerable period of time
and has yet to be established as a proper discipline.
One of the earliest ancestors of digital art is the neo impressionist painter Seurat. He created a new
technique that has a resemblance to what later will become the pixels. A pixel is the smallest unit of a
computer image. On this point, the critic Donald Kuspit notes the effect Seurat had on impressionism
and especially later neo impressionism to pointillism and then to inspire pixels. However, striking
spots used by Manet are the primitive prototypes of mathematical sophistication of pixels. The next
crucial aspect in the development of this sensations is stating

Frankenstein By Nora Smith Analysis
1. Literary criticisms have been developed by a variety of different authors and critics. There are
hundreds of different ways in which one can analyze a text. One of the more popular forms of literary
criticism is feminist criticism. Throughout history men have been dominant over women and this
reflects in writing and literature. Feminine ideas and characters are repressed by a more dominant
masculine presence. The aim of feminist criticism is to explore this repression, analyze how feminine
aspects are portrayed, and expose sexism and female oppression in all types of texts.
Feminist critics look to rediscover works of female writers that have been overshadowed by masculine
culture. They also educate the population about the equality or ... Show more content on

The main components of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein come from her own personal experiences and
the society she lived in. Being a woman, Mary Shelley was subject to the social norms and traditions
of treating women as lesser equals to men. In Johanna Smith s critical analysis of Frankenstein she
says that the man s public sphere of commerce and ... the woman s private sphere of home and
passivity (313) were very much present in Mary s society. Mary was left alone to deal with very
troubling events, the deaths of [her] two daughters... and the death of [her] three and a half year old
son William (10). It is very difficult for a parent to comprehend the loss of a child, much less a mother.
The suffering and loss she endured is reflected in Frankenstein when the main character, Victor, is left
alone to suffer through the loss of his loved ones. This theme of loss is a main component of
Frankenstein and this mirrors events in Mary s life that were caused by gender inequality and female
oppression. Mary was a woman and these events are very traumatic and influential for women. Mary
Shelley was also a victim of the repression of female texts, she even published anonymously...to keep
her identity hidden (313). This is a main reason why female characters do not play a large role in the
story. Mary was accustomed to a society dominated by a masculine presence where women were not
supposed to have their opinions heard. The story is therefore told primarily through male characters

On most Linux distributions the package management system can download and install MySQL with
minimal effort, though further configuration is often required to adjust security and optimization
settings.
Though MySQL began as a low end alternative to more powerful proprietary databases, it has
gradually evolved to support higher scale needs as well. It is still most commonly used in small to
medium scale single server deployments, either as a component in a LAMP based web application or
as a standalone database server. Much of MySQL s appeal originates in its relative simplicity and ease
of use, which is enabled by an ecosystem of open source tools such as php MyAdmin. In the medium
range, MySQL can be scaled by deploying it on more powerful hardware, such as a multi processor
server with gigabytes of memory.
The master server synchronizes continually with its slaves so in the event of failure a slave can be
promoted to become the new master, minimizing downtime. Further improvements in performance
can be achieved by caching the results from

Slavery And United States Rights
Slavery and states rights were the most pressing issues in the 1860 presidential election. Republican
candidate Abraham Lincoln won the presidency on the basis of his promise to halt the spread of
slavery (Hillstrom). However, not all African Americans lived in slavery. African Americans that lived
in freed states had to deal with strict laws that limited their conduct and behavior. Children who lived
in northern states were able to receive their education, convicts could serve their sentences, and people
could have been buried in cemeteries but on major thing is that they all had to be segregated. African
Americans that lived in the southern states lived their life in feared of violence and racism. Many
endured mobs lynching, whipped and branded with hot iron. When the Reconstruction period started
many Americans believed that everyone should have the same constitutional rights and experience the
privileges of citizenship. Which resulted from the south to experience the Jim Crow. Jim Crow laws
were a set of ideas, social norms, life ways, role play symbols, sanctions, and devastations created
after the Civil War by white politician s intent on maintaining a system of oppressive control over
African American life and economics (Mzama Asante). Equal rights laws that had been passed during
Reconstruction continued to be replaced with discriminatory Jim Crow laws across the South.

1. The turning radius of a car is 36 ft. What will be the distance in meters?
We got 1ft = 0.3048 m. So we solve it like,
Distance = 36 ft. x (0.3048 m. / 1 ft.) = 10.9728 m. is the answer.
2. What is the sum of 1370 cm, 1575 mm, and 8.63 m in meters? (Hint: Refer to section 1.9 in the
textbook.).
We convert everything to meters. We know that 1m = 100 cm and 1cm = 10 mm. so we got,
1370 cm = 13.7 m and 1575mm = 1.575 m, so we add up the 3 values;
Distance = 13.7 + 1.575 + 8.63 = 23.905 m.
3. The cross sectional area of a hole is 725 cm2. Given that the area of a circle is A = πr2, find the
radius of the hole. (Hint: Use the problem solving method described in section 2.3 of the textbook.).

Given m = 275 kg, a = 4.5, find the net force a. What is the net force of the scooter and the rider
together?
F = ma = 275 x ( 4.5) = 1237.5 N
b. Describe the direction of the force and the meaning of the negative sign in the acceleration value.
The meaning of the negative sign is that the acceleration is opposing the movement of the scooter and
rider. It is slowing down. The force F is opposing the movement.
11. What is the mass and weight of a 10 kg object on earth?
Given m = 10 kg and g = 9.8 m/s². Find the weight w = mg.
Mass = m = 10 kg and the
Weight = mg = 10x9.8 = 98 N
12. What is the mass and weight of a 10 kg object on the moon where the force of gravity is 1/6th that
of the earth s?
Given m = 10 kg and gmoon = gm = 9.8/6 = 1.633 m/s², find the weight.
Weight = w = m*gm = 10 x 1.633 = 16.333 N acting downward.
13. Find the acceleration of a forklift of mass 1400 kg pushed by a force of 2100 N that is opposed by
a frictional force of 425 N.
Given m = 1400 kg, F1 = 2100 N and Fk = 425 N. Find the acceleration a.
F=ma
a = (F) / (m) = (2100 425) / (1400) = 1.1964 m/s² in the direction of F1. because F = F1 Fk.

Symbolism In Our Town
Many plays have been acted throughout the whole human life, some of them reflect the feelings of the
author while others are just a representation of the society live in the time that it is played; as a social
opinion, but the common thing in all the plays is that they portray an immense amount of ideas and
concepts, that in a way, are transmitted into the audience. In the play Our Town, Thornton Wilder uses
symbolism, theme, and motif, as a unified concept to express a social observation towards the
American life in the 1900 s, which in the beginning of the play is stated as ordinary and common, but
as the play continues, it is transformed into a drama, with secrets and revelations. In the first place,
Wilder mentions his play as not a romance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Long Distance Relationship
Long Distance Relationship Is Not a Good Choice Long distance relationship usually happen for those
who has met their partner but cannot meet directly because of the big distance. Generally, these long
distance relationship are due to social, environmental and economic factors such as participation in
military activities, studying abroad, increased opportunities to work overseas and the emergence of
online relationship. A majority of college student are or have been in long distance romance (Wood,
2015). Those who are in this kind of relationship must have a strong heart to make it work.
Unfortunately many people cannot make this type of relationship become successful because of their
own attitude. Easy to say, it is not a good choice to have this kind of relationship when you have
another alternatives of bonding a relationship. You are wasting the time that you could be used to date

Culture comes within language, symbols, values and beliefs. These things define what a culture is like.

Questions On Expectations Affect Your Experiences Essay
Did you know?
Expectations affect your experiences in life.
Meaning: Your outlook going into a situation will affect your outcome.
Example: A child raised in a poor home was always told no when she asks for anything. She d ask for
new shoes or to go on a trip, but they were too poor. Growing up, she began to dislike the word no and
found it nearly impossible to ask anyone for anything. She feared to be told no even when she needed
things badly. So she missed out on opportunities to better herself because she expected the same
negative results that hurt her so long ago. It wasn t until much later in life, through the power of Faith
in Christ, was she free from this fear and began to change and grow. What looks like a tiny mustard
seed has grown into a plant taller than her.
A well know saying:
FAITH, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. Because in those days, it was nearly
impossible to move large amounts of rock and soil. But, look at what we can do today. We move
mountains little by little to make way for roads and bridges. Someone had enough FAITH to do it.
Matthew 17:20 says: He said to them, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have
faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will

Nulook Bounce-N-Party Narrative Report
November 9, 2015 through November 23, 2015, I continued interning at the Nulook Bounce n Party
located in Winterville, NC. The previous two weeks consisted of me working and completing basic
employee duties and procedures. I have completed plenty of hours, and I have also completed my
multimedia projects. When I begin working in the field of Multimedia Arts, I should be ready.
Viewing my designs gives me happiness and fulfillment because it reminds me that I will be creating
and designing additional projects in the future. During the week of November 9, 2015 through
November 13, I spent time at home and at the Nulook Bounce n Party facility. The building is still
undergoing renovations. But the flat screen televisions installed in the building has been a hit for the
children since they can now watch their favorite cartoon shows or play in the bounce houses, giving
the kids double the entertainment. Whenever customers enter the building, you can just see the
amazement on their faces. During the two weeks, I continued to work independently at the facility. It
is still slow during the week, so only one employee is on shift. While working individually, I have
become more confident in assisting children in bouncers, checking ... Show more content on

The Three Approachs Of The Three Theories Of Communication
1. Though persuasion skills seem intangible and only possessed by a few lucky individuals, they can
actually be broken down into techniques. Three of these approaches, the principles of liking, authority,
and social proof, can be explained by three theories of communication. Elaboration Likelihood Theory
states that when one processes a message critically, through the central route, it is more likely for that
message to change one s belief and behavior, whereas if the message is processed superficially,
through the peripheral route, there will only be a short term attitude modification. There is a higher
level of elaboration, or the degree to which a person assesses a piece of information closely, when the
person feels fondly towards the persuader because people have a higher likelihood of paying attention
to individuals they like. They are more likely to comply and wish to please. Theory of Reasoned
Action explains that the manner in which one acts is affected by one s attitude about the behavior, in
addition to one s beliefs about subjective norms (how other people want one to act). The principle of
authority works with this theory because people are more likely to obey and believe someone who has
power over them. Experts are believed because they have more information than the person, and can
morph the subjective norm, as well as an individual s own attitude about a behavior. Cognitive
Dissonance refers to when different cognitive components are inharmonious and

Comparing Tyram-James Rumble Fish And The Outsiders
Things are rough all over. S.E Hinton quoted in her book The Outsiders . Rumble Fish and The
Outsiders are both very similar books. Although there are many differences. Some major differences
between the main characters, Rusty James and Ponyboy, are love, strength, and confidence.
In both books, Rusty James and Ponyboy look up to and love their brothers greatly, but they reveal
their love separately. Rusty James expresses his love by trying to act just like his brother, Motorcycle
Boy. In other words, he acts cool, tough, and tries to be a leader. Ponyboy and his brothers bond is so
great that Ponyboy doesn t need to show much more love unlike Rusty James and Motorcycle Boy.

The Notebook And The Last Song Essay
The famous Nicholas Sparks novels The Notebook and The Last Song are based on non fictional
events, while Rapunzel is a fictional short story fully based on fairytale. Although these are two
different genres, all three pieces share a common story line and even the same themes. The story line,
like any princess fairytale or romantic novel involves two people who fall in love but go through many
obstacles to be together. However, in the end, they live happily ever after. The two themes that these
three pieces of literature have in common are determination and fate. Throughout this paper you will
see this story line and those themes unfold.
We hear determination in our everyday lives, no matter our age nor our location. Although we may
hear this constantly, determination is something very hard to obtain. For these stories, the word
determination is nothing but known and relived constantly through the character s lives. In addition to
determination, we hear the word fate constantly. We ve heard this growing up through watching any
and every Disney movie out there, including Rapunzel . The definition, according to Wikipedia, is as
followed: be destined to happen, turn out, or act in a particular way. Everyone is born with a fate, we
are all here on this earth for a different purpose and fate. We just don t know our fate as we go through
life, just like these characters.
Rapunzel is a short story by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. The plot of the story is the same as the

The Cuban Revolution Of Cuba
In the 1950 s, tourists visited the island of Cuba for its warm beaches, culture and Spanish colonial
architecture. But underneath the surface, was a revolution ready to burst through the Cuban people
they just needed the right person to lead them. Cuba at this time was run by a Political Dictator named
Fulgencio Batista.
Fulgencio Batista was elected President of Cuba between 1940 and 1940. In 1952 Batista declared that
constitutional guarantees and the right to strike will be suspended. He became a dictator with absolute
power over Cuba. Batista turned the Cuban capital of Havana into one of the largest gambling cities in
the world. Batista reorganised the Cuba s treasury so that political representatives and himself can take
freely from the riches. Under Batista s rule, education and health care wasn t free to the general public.
The Cuban public were not satisfied with Batista and how he was ruling Cuba, the people didn t have
a say in decisions in government, were treated unfairly with high taxes, selling/giving the peoples land
to American business owners.
Fidel Castro was the man who successfully removed Batista from his cruel dictatorship. In Castro s
early life, he went to three expensive Catholic schools. He was good at sports, and participated and led
camping and climbing exhibitions. Castro fought with the other boys and teachers frequently. He
succeeded in everything. In sports, in studies. And every day he would fight. He had an explosive
character. Raul

The Ever Changing Life And World We Live
The Ever Changing Life and World we Live in Gaven D. Crosby Pennsylvania College of Technology
You are dying! As we speak, we are all dying! You may die in an hour, maybe a decade or more. How
do we know? The answer is that we don t. We don t know what life has in store for us. Today I am in
the United States, safe; a week from now I could be in Syria. No one can be absolutely sure what is
going to happen to us. The reason for this is because of the ever changing world we live in. A perfect
example of this is in The Story of An Hour. In the story, the main character goes from being miserably
married to being happily single, then to married again and eventually dead; all in one day. I would say
that her life changed quite a bit in a small amount of time. Wouldn t you say the same? The story also
says that after she found out her husband was deceased, she whispered, Free, free, free. See, back in
the 1800s and early 1900s, a woman s entire life was ruled and dictated by her husband. A woman s
husband worked to earn all of the money they had, the husband built their house, and he had the last
say on every matter. You see, the point is that Mrs. Mallard wasn t herself while she was married. She
was Mrs. Brently Mallard. But once her husband, Brently, died she was free. Free to be herself and do
whatever Louise wanted; it was a new and great world for her to explore. A world where she was in
charge of herself and she could make her own decisions. Her

America s Trade Area Of The Americas
History
Latin America is composed of seventeen countries which was colonized by Spain s and Portugal. They
are large in diverse population with four hundred and ninety million people in total. The percentage of
the Indian and African that lives in Latin America is basically seventy five percent just in the cities.
The industrial and development grew since the 1960 s; also the free Trade Area of the Americas
(FTAA) proposes to integrate economies of Latin America, North America and the Caribbean (except
Cuba). Prisons for quite a long time have been a gateway to try to save society. However, the only
thing that it s doing is hurting the social order. This happens because it creates more problems that are
not being treated from the beginning. Crime has become a big problem during these hard times with
the poor economy, but it has especially affected Latin America very deeply because of all the
problems that overcrowded prisons have brought forward. In Latin America Brazil and Mexico are the
two largest and strongest countries that have been affected with having the highest percentage of
crimes, inmates in prisons, and concerns with overcrowded prisons. And these increase with the high
crime rates in Latin America that are rising due to drug trafficking wars in Brazil and Mexico. Brazil
and Argentina are again the two of Latin America s strongest and largest countries because they make
up most of the common market where other nations come to trade, buy goods and buy cash

It Was Awful And Bitter When The Allies And The Central
It was awful and bitter when the Allies and the Central Powers clashed and unleashed their military
power at the war front in World War I. World War I also known as the war to all end wars, or the Great
War occurred between June 28, 1914, to November 11, 1918. The war left over thirty eight million
civilians and militaries casualties. Much work was needed to get the European countries back together
after the war. In the book Fear written by Gabriel Chevallier, the narrator shows the unforgettable
memories a war can bring. The main character Jean Dartemont is supposed to be enthusiastic to go to
war like many other young nineteen year old French men at the time. Nationalism is high in France

He takes a time throughout to book to look at his reason why he went off to war. The physical scars
that Jean left with during the war were clearly seen in these accounts. Emotionally the soldiers went
off to work feeling unbeatable with a strong nationalistic pride. However, they soon realized that all
their emotions would not be able to conqueror the evils the war had to offer. One of the most horrific
memories for Jean was when he spoke about the different type of corpse he saw while they were on
their way to another town. They had crouched down on their knees under a pile of debris. When they
got up they saw a decapitated head of a soldier who probably died days ago. Jean is shaken up by this
horrific site by saying that when he looked at the man s face he could fell like the man was blaming
him for his death. He reminisces on all the horrific events emotionally that left him scarred, however,
he goes on to say that this was the most horrible impression that he could take away from the war
front. Jean later goes on to describe the agony and numerous positions where the corpse would lay.
Personally, as the reader, I could really fell the suffering of the dying soldiers when Jean describes the
glass eyes and twisted mouths of the dead bodies in the trench . This evidence took a toll on Jean
because he leaves the scene in disgust and without hope of a return home. Lastly, the war

Analysis Of An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind
An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well
known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications.
A few years after the Holocaust, one of it s victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a
terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation
against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story documents the
tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit cruel acts, as well as
his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling revelations of the human
conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all
answers.
With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that
hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn.
Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky.
After surviving the Holocaust the main character, Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for the
Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement represents a
new dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to secure what s
rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents Elisha with a more tortured reality; he has been

The United States Department of Labor Laws
This paper will discuss the United States Department of Labor laws. Americans are protected under
these laws from injustices that may occur in the work place. There are over a hundred different laws
that have been created by the government and that companies are mandated to adhere by.
One law that many employers teeter the line on crossing on day to day bases is the Fair Labor
Standards Act. This law prescribes standards for wages and overtime pay, which affect most private
and public employment. The act is administered by the Wage and Hour Division. It requires employers
to pay covered employees who are not otherwise exempt at least the federal minimum wage and
overtime pay of one and one half times the regular rate of pay. For nonagricultural operations, it
restricts the hours that children under age 16 can work and forbids the employment of children under
age 18 in certain jobs deemed too dangerous. For agricultural operations, it prohibits the employment
of children under age 16 during school hours and in certain jobs deemed too dangerous (Summary of
the Major Laws of the Department of Labor). I personally have held positions that I thought were
promotions but once in the actual job found out that I am working twenty to thirty hours more a week
and in hindsight bringing in less income. This happens to employee s everyday and employers make
these employees salary so that they do not have to pay them increase wages. It happens more in this
day and time because

The Great Gatsby A Great Person Essay
For someone to be truly great they need to make sacrifices to become successful. Anyone can be great
at something, but to be great at everything is a much more difficult feat to accomplish. The Great
Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a famous novel taking place in the flapper days. J. Gatsby, a
main character, is in love with a wealthy girl named Daisy. No matter how great Gatsby becomes he is
unable to fulfill his dream of being with Daisy. However, because Gatsby couldn t be with Daisy, he
made himself become as great as a person can become. Gatsby turned himself into a gentleman, took
himself from dirt poor to one of the richest men at the time, and he did it all with his motivation. Some
suggest that Gatsby was not a great person because he was involved in illegal practices such as
bootlegging. But in fact, bootlegging made him a great person because he was able to use the money
that he made for good causes and he was also a fair person. He was extremely intelligent and
understood how to be of help to others through his illegal activities. Greatness can often be seen by
how wealthy one is; Gatsby was one of the most wealthy men of the time. Gatsby s mansion was
described by having, a tower one one side, spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble
swimming pool, and more than forty acres of lawn and garden. (5). ... Show more content on

Personal Narrative Draft
Personal Narrative Draft The Meriam Webster dictionary defines a cheerleader as a person who is a
member of a group (typically a group of young women) who shout out special songs or chants to
encourage the team and entertain the crowd during a game in sports like American football and
basketball. This definition described my involvement itself in my beloved sport, but it also explains
who I am as a whole person. In my life, I am a cheerleader whether I am on the sidelines under the
Friday night lights, or off the field when it comes to being a cheerleader for my family and
companions. At a young age, it was clear to me that support was something needed by everyone,
whether they wanted to accept it or not. However, before you cheer on anyone ... Show more content

I was competing for a spot with girls I had never even seen before, and even worse: I had no idea what
they were capable of. Tryouts gave me the same rush of adrenaline I felt during my first performance.
As much as I loved the feeling, I was terrified of it all at once. Once I made my first impression on the
judges, it was time for the waiting game. It took a solid three weeks until I got my letter in the mail
that held my future cheer sealed inside. To my delight once more, the contents of the letter were more
than exciting. Congratulations! You are invited to cheer on Saint Francis Junior Varsity Cheerleading!
stated the letter in big bold block letters. The season flew by faster than the speed of light, and before I
knew it I was feeling the adrenaline rush again inside the sticky, hot gym. I put my spot on the squad
in jeopardy by going for the varsity squad as a junior, which was something very risky because the
seniors always got selected above a junior. Taking this risk was something I would have never done,
as I used to always play it safe. An upperclassman I had confided in when I met her during my
basketball season watched my tryout from outside the window looking into the gym, and she said I
had killed it, and the letter I received that April reflected that. I was one of two juniors cheering on the
football squad of all seniors.

Sean White and Snowboarding
Throughout time, the progression and evolution of snowboarding has increased greatly. It has gone
from non existence in the late 1970 s, to one of the most watched action sports in a matter of thirty
five years. The upward takeoff and popularity of snowboarding relies on two people, Jake Burton and
Shaun White. Jake Burton back in 1977 had the vision for what snowboarding would be, but Shaun
White had what it took to manifest that vision. Evidence has shown that time brings change in sports,
history has repeated itself with snowboarding, this history reflects the time changes that has occurred
in America.

Deep in Colorado backcountry, the 2009 mission was no simple task. According to HuffingtonPost,
The one of a kind superpipe spans 550 feet and is situated in a 12,000 foot mountain. Shaun White s
web site says that the superpipe s construction required 30 heli bomb dropped avalanches and 8,000
lbs of steel. (HuffingtonPost, 2010). The cost of the 20 million gallons of water used to build the pipe
alone is estimated at a near $100,000, just giving you a glimpse of the total price. For the 2013 project,
GoPro and SnowPark Technologies teamed up this time on a strip of secluded locale in the backside of
Perisher Ski Resort in New South Wales, Australia. The sole purpose of these secluded training
locations for Shaun was to take a set of tricks that have never been seen, and bring them to life. By
doing so, he can have that extra step on the other riders going into the Olympics.
During the 2010 Vancouver Olympic games, Shaun was under pressure to repeat another gold medal
after much time passing from Torino Olympic games. Fresh off his recent training in his private
Colorado course, he was ready to prove once again he was the best. After posting a 46.8 out of 50 on
his first run, he had achieved a high enough score to ensure gold without a second run needed. A
victory lap was taken in the second run with the double mctwist 1260 later named the Tomahawk

Justice in Plato s The Republic Essay
Plato creates a seemingly invincible philosopher in The Republic. Socrates is able to refute all
arguments presented before him with ease. The discussion on justice in Book I of The Republic is one
such example. Socrates successfully refutes each different view of justice presented by Cephalus,
Polemarchus, and Thrasymachus. Socrates has not given us a definitive definition of justice, nor has
he refuted all views of justice, but as far as we are concerned in Book I, he is able to break down the
arguments of his companions.
Cephalus is the first to give his opinion of justice as simply speaking the truth and giving back what
one takes. In even simpler terms, it is to do the right thing. (Republic 331) Socrates argues that to give

Justice is the advantage of the stronger according to Thrasymachus. He even goes a step farther to say
that injustice is stronger and freer than justice, yet justice is the advantage of the stronger. Socrates
shows that justice is in the receiver of it, not the provider. According to Socrates, a just man will be the
healthier and happier man because he is wiser.
So it is not a question of Socrates refuting the views presented to him by these three men, but one of
the completeness of these views. Does Plato give each of these views a proper defense, or is he trying
to build up his glorified version of Socrates? Cephalus is not given much exposure in Book I so his
argument on justice is somewhat limited. But for Socrates, refuting a statement as simple as giving
back what one takes does not take very long. Cephalus s view is given its due consideration and his
purpose here is more than just to introduce an opinion of justice. Cephalus introduces the key subject
of justice by talking about leading a good life. Socrates is able to tie this to justice and later tie justice
to the soul.
Polemarchus and Thrasymachus are given more time in Book I. Polemarchus continues the argument
his father was making and takes it a step further to include discussions on friends and enemies.
Socrates is able to convince his opponent to agree with him, as he does with all his opponents. Are

  • 2. Atoms for Peace Analysis Essay Dwight D Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States from 1953 1960, is revered as a statesman and great military leader. Born in Texas in 1890 and raised in Kansas to a family that valued education, Eisenhower began a long career as a leader and military officer upon his graduation in 1915 from West Point. Eisenhower is recognized for his leadership and oratorical skills which he applied to both military endeavors and managing the nation. He was fortunate to be mentored by General Fox Conner, in the Panama Canal Zone. Conner encouraged him to study important works of history, military science, and philosophy which Eisenhower applied to his own efforts and experiences. Eisenhower later moved up the military ranks to five star ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience s biases and beliefs both impeded and helped Eisenhower s proposal. Eisenhower s diction was appropriate for his audience; though he used some jargon, the members were able to understand because of their level of knowledge. His appeals, mostly to pathos and ethos, were effective. He established ethos by addressing the meeting with France and Great Britain, and through his position as President. Eisenhower s use of rhetoric allowed his audience to be receptive to his argument. In Eisenhower s introduction he does not construct the reality and frame the question effectively. He does not make his purpose clear in his introduction either. Even though in the first paragraph Dwight mentions that his speech will be about the issues of society today, he does not mention those issues much farther in the text. The structure of his arguments contribute to his persuasion. Eisenhower would begin by telling the audience what the issues at hand are, then would say his solution to each problem. For example, around the 21st paragraph, Eisenhower uses a first, second and finally method. In those, he states some issues such as, the knowledge now possessed by several nations will eventually be shared by others possibly all others. Then Dwight goes to suggest the solution or solutions to the previously stated problems. Also, throughout the piece, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chapter 1 The Problem and Its Background Introduction In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing plenty of forms, to getting cleared, enlisting subjects, and scheduling. Some schools even have subject advisement before and after the enlistment phase. All these processes were done manually and were very time consuming. Now however, with the option of porting all these operations over the internet, they have become faster to do, more convenient, and easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems for clearance, enlistment, and classroom management of Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology (CIIT) and propose an online system to manage these tasks. It will discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ( http://www.ciit ph.com/ About Us page) Executive Summary The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if they are eligible to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester. Students will login to the website and they can view all the subjects they have already taken, their grades on these subjects, subjects that they are eligible to take for the next trimester, the schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects, and the student s clearance status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that he is eligible to take for the next trimester. He will also be able to choose the schedule of the said subjects if there is more than one class being offered. After picking the subjects and schedule, he will be shown a completed assessment form that he can print out. He will then bring this form to the school registrar where he can pay the necessary fees and be officially enrolled. Professors of CIIT will be able to upload their students grades online. School administrators can change a student s clearance status online for any reason that they see fit. Actions done will be logged. All these processes are currently being done manually by CIIT. It is tedious and time consuming for a lot of the students and the school s registrar office. The Online Enlistment and Clearance System aims to replace these with an easier and speedier ... • 4. Candidates And Policy Of The United States Senate Elections The names of the authors that wrote an article titled Candidates and Policy in the United States Senate Elections are Gerald C. Wright and Michael B. Berkman. Although the previous literature on the subject suggests, that policy is not a major factor in the decision making process, the article argued otherwise. It is a known fact that a substantial policy difference between the candidates in a particular race exists. Policymakers write specific policies for the future and an election determines who will write the policies, which decides the policy. The ideological characteristics of a state and a candidate for a political office has a positive correlation. Conservative states or districts have conservative candidates regardless of party affiliation. Meanwhile, liberal states or districts have liberal candidates regardless of party affiliation. Besides, the performance of the economy and of the president, assuming that the president and the candidate share the same party, affects the chances of the candidates. This is evident in almost all midterm elections in the modern era. If a president (Democratic President Obama) has perceived as not doing a good job and has a low approval rating (the mid 40s throughout much of his presidency), then congressional candidates in the midterm elections are not in their best position. Accordingly, Democrats lost the House of Representatives and some seats in the United States Senate in the 2010 midterm election. The Democratic Party lost the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Digital Art And Its Impact On Contemporary Culture Digital art is a discipline that brings together all artistic works created with or involving digital media. This paper aims at addressing the various areas of research associated with the ideas of digital art, starting from the history, through its various dimensions and demonstrations, working and functionalities of computer, significant work in the area and ending with the emergence of various ideas that surrounds this developing discipline. The history of digital art, which can be more broadly referred to as electronic art, is not only written whilst affected by the consolidation of the aesthetic and foundation that Stewart Brand claims for contemporary culture, but also in the very acceptance of digital art by the institutions and curators of the art world. It is a reality that digital art has remained in a transition for a considerable period of time and has yet to be established as a proper discipline. One of the earliest ancestors of digital art is the neo impressionist painter Seurat. He created a new technique that has a resemblance to what later will become the pixels. A pixel is the smallest unit of a computer image. On this point, the critic Donald Kuspit notes the effect Seurat had on impressionism and especially later neo impressionism to pointillism and then to inspire pixels. However, striking spots used by Manet are the primitive prototypes of mathematical sophistication of pixels. The next crucial aspect in the development of this sensations is stating ... • 6. Frankenstein By Nora Smith Analysis 1. Literary criticisms have been developed by a variety of different authors and critics. There are hundreds of different ways in which one can analyze a text. One of the more popular forms of literary criticism is feminist criticism. Throughout history men have been dominant over women and this reflects in writing and literature. Feminine ideas and characters are repressed by a more dominant masculine presence. The aim of feminist criticism is to explore this repression, analyze how feminine aspects are portrayed, and expose sexism and female oppression in all types of texts. Feminist critics look to rediscover works of female writers that have been overshadowed by masculine culture. They also educate the population about the equality or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main components of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein come from her own personal experiences and the society she lived in. Being a woman, Mary Shelley was subject to the social norms and traditions of treating women as lesser equals to men. In Johanna Smith s critical analysis of Frankenstein she says that the man s public sphere of commerce and ... the woman s private sphere of home and passivity (313) were very much present in Mary s society. Mary was left alone to deal with very troubling events, the deaths of [her] two daughters... and the death of [her] three and a half year old son William (10). It is very difficult for a parent to comprehend the loss of a child, much less a mother. The suffering and loss she endured is reflected in Frankenstein when the main character, Victor, is left alone to suffer through the loss of his loved ones. This theme of loss is a main component of Frankenstein and this mirrors events in Mary s life that were caused by gender inequality and female oppression. Mary was a woman and these events are very traumatic and influential for women. Mary Shelley was also a victim of the repression of female texts, she even published anonymously...to keep her identity hidden (313). This is a main reason why female characters do not play a large role in the story. Mary was accustomed to a society dominated by a masculine presence where women were not supposed to have their opinions heard. The story is therefore told primarily through male characters ... On most Linux distributions the package management system can download and install MySQL with minimal effort, though further configuration is often required to adjust security and optimization settings. Though MySQL began as a low end alternative to more powerful proprietary databases, it has gradually evolved to support higher scale needs as well. It is still most commonly used in small to medium scale single server deployments, either as a component in a LAMP based web application or as a standalone database server. Much of MySQL s appeal originates in its relative simplicity and ease of use, which is enabled by an ecosystem of open source tools such as php MyAdmin. In the medium range, MySQL can be scaled by deploying it on more powerful hardware, such as a multi processor server with gigabytes of memory. • 10. Slavery And United States Rights Slavery and states rights were the most pressing issues in the 1860 presidential election. Republican candidate Abraham Lincoln won the presidency on the basis of his promise to halt the spread of slavery (Hillstrom). However, not all African Americans lived in slavery. African Americans that lived in freed states had to deal with strict laws that limited their conduct and behavior. Children who lived in northern states were able to receive their education, convicts could serve their sentences, and people could have been buried in cemeteries but on major thing is that they all had to be segregated. African Americans that lived in the southern states lived their life in feared of violence and racism. Many endured mobs lynching, whipped and branded with hot iron. When the Reconstruction period started many Americans believed that everyone should have the same constitutional rights and experience the privileges of citizenship. Which resulted from the south to experience the Jim Crow. Jim Crow laws were a set of ideas, social norms, life ways, role play symbols, sanctions, and devastations created after the Civil War by white politician s intent on maintaining a system of oppressive control over African American life and economics (Mzama Asante). So we solve it like, Distance = 36 ft. x (0.3048 m. / 1 ft.) = 10.9728 m. is the answer. 2. What is the sum of 1370 cm, 1575 mm, and 8.63 m in meters? (Hint: Refer to section 1.9 in the textbook.). We convert everything to meters. We know that 1m = 100 cm and 1cm = 10 mm. so we got, 1370 cm = 13.7 m and 1575mm = 1.575 m, so we add up the 3 values; Distance = 13.7 + 1.575 + 8.63 = 23.905 m. 3. In the play Our Town, Thornton Wilder uses symbolism, theme, and motif, as a unified concept to express a social observation towards the American life in the 1900 s, which in the beginning of the play is stated as ordinary and common, but as the play continues, it is transformed into a drama, with secrets and revelations. Example: A child raised in a poor home was always told no when she asks for anything. She d ask for new shoes or to go on a trip, but they were too poor. Growing up, she began to dislike the word no and found it nearly impossible to ask anyone for anything. She feared to be told no even when she needed things badly. So she missed out on opportunities to better herself because she expected the same negative results that hurt her so long ago. It wasn t until much later in life, through the power of Faith in Christ, was she free from this fear and began to change and grow. What looks like a tiny mustard seed has grown into a plant taller than her. A well know saying: FAITH, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. Because in those days, it was nearly impossible to move large amounts of rock and soil. But, look at what we can do today. We move mountains little by little to make way for roads and bridges. Someone had enough FAITH to do it. Matthew 17:20 says: He said to them, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you. • 25. The Three Approachs Of The Three Theories Of Communication 1. Though persuasion skills seem intangible and only possessed by a few lucky individuals, they can actually be broken down into techniques. Three of these approaches, the principles of liking, authority, and social proof, can be explained by three theories of communication. Elaboration Likelihood Theory states that when one processes a message critically, through the central route, it is more likely for that message to change one s belief and behavior, whereas if the message is processed superficially, through the peripheral route, there will only be a short term attitude modification. There is a higher level of elaboration, or the degree to which a person assesses a piece of information closely, when the person feels fondly towards the persuader because people have a higher likelihood of paying attention to individuals they like. They are more likely to comply and wish to please. Theory of Reasoned Action explains that the manner in which one acts is affected by one s attitude about the behavior, in addition to one s beliefs about subjective norms (how other people want one to act). The principle of authority works with this theory because people are more likely to obey and believe someone who has power over them. Experts are believed because they have more information than the person, and can morph the subjective norm, as well as an individual s own attitude about a behavior. Cognitive Dissonance refers to when different cognitive components are inharmonious and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story line, like any princess fairytale or romantic novel involves two people who fall in love but go through many obstacles to be together. However, in the end, they live happily ever after. The two themes that these three pieces of literature have in common are determination and fate. Throughout this paper you will see this story line and those themes unfold. Today I am in the United States, safe; a week from now I could be in Syria. No one can be absolutely sure what is going to happen to us. The reason for this is because of the ever changing world we live in. A perfect example of this is in The Story of An Hour. In the story, the main character goes from being miserably married to being happily single, then to married again and eventually dead; all in one day. I would say that her life changed quite a bit in a small amount of time. Wouldn t you say the same? The story of Dawn reinforces this well known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story documents the tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit cruel acts, as well as his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling revelations of the human conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all answers. With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn. Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky. The discussion on justice in Book I of The Republic is one such example. Socrates successfully refutes each different view of justice presented by Cephalus, Polemarchus, and Thrasymachus. Socrates has not given us a definitive definition of justice, nor has he refuted all views of justice, but as far as we are concerned in Book I, he is able to break down the arguments of his companions. Socrates shows that justice is in the receiver of it, not the provider. According to Socrates, a just man will be the healthier and happier man because he is wiser. So it is not a question of Socrates refuting the views presented to him by these three men, but one of the completeness of these views. Does Plato give each of these views a proper defense, or is he trying to build up his glorified version of Socrates? Cephalus is not given much exposure in Book I so his argument on justice is somewhat limited. But for Socrates, refuting a statement as simple as giving back what one takes does not take very long. Cephalus s view is given its due consideration and his purpose here is more than just to introduce an opinion of justice. Cephalus introduces the key subject of justice by talking about leading a good life. Socrates is able to tie this to justice and later tie justice to the soul.
