1. Carlson classifies modern insecticides into two groups of chemicals. The first group, represented
by DDT, is known as the chlorinated hydrocarbons and the other group, represented by Malathion
and parathion, consists of the organic phosphorus insecticides. Although both are organic, the
organic phosphorous insecticides are more poisonous than the chlorinated hydrocarbons and have
the ability to destroy enzymes.
2. When insecticides are built on a basis of carbon atoms, it is both ingenious and threatening
because carbon atoms are the basic building blocks of the living world. They can be modified to

Too much of the insecticides will allow acetylcholine to build up which would lead to convulsions
and eventually death.
2. Research in the early 1960s proved that high levels of DDT found in predatory birds were the
cause of the decrease in their populations. When the predatory birds came in contact with DDT,
their reproduction was directly affected. As a result of DDT s presence in the predatory bird s
body, the eggshells of these birds started to become slender. These eggshells become so thin that
whenever the mother bird would lie on the egg waiting for it to hatch, the eggs would break. Thus,
the predatory bird population had no means of increasing, since their reproduction was not
successful. Biological magnification had a large role to play in the decrease of the predatory bird
population. Spraying of DDT on vegetation led to contamination of the prey populations such as
fish. These prey started building large concentrations of DDT within their bodies. As a result, the
predatory birds also got contaminated, since they preyed upon contaminated animals.
3. With regards to the genetic makeup of target insect populations, heavy pesticideuse can alter
their DNA to the point where the insects develop a resistance to certain insecticides like malaria
mosquitoes to DDT. These effects can be counterproductive to long term insect control because one

Spotlight Film Analysis
How do you react after watching a movie? That was good, I wasn t a huge fan, and HOLY SHIT
THAT WAS AMAZING, tend to be my usual reactions. But as I left the theater after watching
Spotlight, my response was different. I couldn t shake the overwhelming thought that this movie
was important. Granted, the HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING response was still present.
Importance remained my number one takeaway from the movie though, and I soon learned its true
importance. Director/writer Thomas McCarthy and writer Josh Singer piece together the complex
and startling true story of how the special Spotlight division of the Boston Globe uncovered child
sex abuse within the Catholic Church. In many ways McCarthy and Singer act as the reporters...

McCarthy and Singer made clear they intended to display the greatness journalism can achieve,
and how the institution of journalism has seen better days. As Singer put it, We felt the best
way we could talk about that is: show great local journalism, you know, doing its thing. I think
Marty [Baron] said it last night Watergate was a local story, just two Metro reporters going after
a break in, right? And it turned out to be a national story. In regards to the Spotlight investigation
and Watergate, Singer says, We need more of this, not less. McCarthy followed this up by more
or less revealing his plan to help revitalize journalism, We need more young people like
yourselves to be inspired to realize just what an amazing profession it is, and how important it is.
Who would have guessed the story about pedophilia in the Catholic Church would be
inspirational? Not me. But once you begin to look at it as less of a condemnation of the Catholic
Church, and more as a celebration of exceptional journalism, the full scope of the movie comes to

Deviant Populations In Prisons
Throughout history societies have attempted to manage and control their deviant populations.
Western industrial societies have undergone a number of transformations in their quest to achieve
such control. Disenchantment with the penal system and its inability to achieve rehabilitation
within its confines has meant that in recent years, and especially since the 1960 s, a central element
in the social control practises of advanced capitalist societies has been a state sponsored attempt to
deinstitutionalise deviant populations. In face of steadily escalating crime rates, overcrowded prison
systems and an increasing number of the population formally deserving imprisonment, a variety of
approaches have been initiated in an attempt to reduce the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It wasn t until the 1960 s however that the transformations that took place at the end of the
eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth centuries seriously became under attack (Cohen
1985, p.30). The notion of these attacks were that the prison system was failing (Tomasic and
Dobinson 1979, p.15). Prisons were seen as brutal (Vinson 1982, p.14), inhumane, and instead of
achieving their rehabilitative goals, studies have shown that the further into the system a deviant
is processed, the harder it is for him or her to return to a normal life (Cohen 1985, p.33). An
increasing crime rate and number of those imprisoned led to the demand for action to be taken, but
at the lowest possible cost to society (Tomasic and Dobinson 1979, p.16). The failure of repeated
efforts to better the penal system produced consensus in favour of reversing the directions taken by
the system in the late eighteenth century (Cohen 1985, p.31) and a recognition that perhaps instead
of upgrading prisons, the focus should be on emptying

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The Workplace
The Importance of Cultural Diversity
Cultural diversity is defined as The existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a
society (Oxford, 2017). Within the workplace there have been a trend towards promoting diversity
by maintaining a workforce with workers differ in area such as race, sexual orientation, age, and
gender. This is often times a daunting and difficult task for management. Effective communication
can be challenging for diverse groups. Language barriers for example may cause confusion leading
to conflict. Another risk to implementing diversity in the workplace is that some employees feel
that individuals may have gained their respective position unjustly. Conversely, differing employees
may feel out of place and not assimilate well with the rest of the group (Kirby Richard, 2000).
Promoting cultural diversity is not just relegate to the hiring of diverse individuals; rather the
organization must also seek to create and maintain policies, procedures, training, and even
incentives to truly cultivate a positive culturally diverse environment (Patrick and Kumar 2012).
With all the time, money, and effort necessary to create and maintain a diverse work environment,
leaders are left wondering what if any, benefits can be gained by promoting cultural diversity.
Research indicates that there are several valuable assets to fostering cultural diversity in the
workplace. Firstly, the makeup of the labor pool is changing. There has been a steady increase

The Second Golden Era Of The Film Industry
The second golden era of the film industry, new hollywood, came about from 1969 through 1980.
As the 1960 s started off positive and hopeful, there was now many Americans left devastated
from the depressing events that occurred after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, such as the
Vietnam War. There was also a conflict in the movie scene because Hollywood directors were
torn between the old styles of filming and the new techniques. By 1980, this conflict was finally
resolved and a new hollywood era was created. Although the old styles of filming still existed, new
directors did not follow the production code and decided to recreate genres. Directors also started
to mix different genres together into one filmsuch as comedy, romance, and... Show more content on

These thriller films were very mainstream and popular in the box office because they were targeted
towards adults under the age of 25. The Night of the Living Dead also innovated the drive in
movies, although, these are not as popular nowadays. During this time movies only cost $1.50, but
these movies still brought in millions in revenue and this was the turning point for starting the
personal filmmaking trend. This is a clip from Dawn of the Dead, it was released in 1978 and it is
about two SWAT members who try to stop a zombie apocalypse. The director, George Romero, was
instrumental in creating this zombie horror genre. Romero used suspenseful background music
when the zombies were after them to make it scarier, although, I thought the makeup on the
zombies was really fake looking compared to the makeup on new zombie movies and television
shows such as The Walking Dead. It is amazing to see how makeup and editing can really change

The Passage Short Story
Adolescentes have many new things to learn before they become adults. Coming of age stories help
the reader understand the hardships that this time in one s life may have. These hardships help
develop the young into an adult. In the following stories the authors utilize selected detail to convey
the development into adulthood. In the first short story, The Passageby Dalton Trumbo uses special
detail in order to explain the loving relationship between the father and the son. For example, the
author uses the symbol of an enormous pine and the sentence, his father has always preferred his
company to that of other men to show his affection for the son. The enormous pine tree that looks
over the tent in which they sleep in can symbolize the paternal figure within him that looks over his
son. The author also tells us that the father would rather spend time with his son than other guys,
which shows the love he has for him and the time he wants to spend with him. Eventually in the
passage the son tells his father that he would rather go fishing with Bill Harper. For a little while
his father didn t say thing. The he said why sure go along Joe. This sentence shows that his father
had a slight hesitation with him being alright with his son going with someone else. Perhaps a bit of
jealousy or sadness that the feeling wasn t mutual about fishing together. But, this shows their
relationship because even though the father might not be the happiest about his, his love for him

Walmart has faced heavy scrutiny in the past decade due to prevalent controversy surrounding their

This goal is important to me because I have an enormous interest with the work carried out by the
BAU. Human behavior interests me, but what s most interesting to me is finding out why the
behaviors are carried out by people. The BAU works with solving criminal cases to determine the
cause of the attacks, murders, or rapes. With this information, they can use it to help stop the
criminals while additionally preventing this type of behavior in the future since they now have the
behavior cues to look for in individuals. This ties into my purpose statement because as
aforementioned, learning interests me but especially learning about human behavior and in return I
am prepared to give back to society by assisting in keeping them safe from these targeted crimes.
My capacity to be analytical as per my strengths quest results infer that I will successfully be able
to accomplish these tasks using critical thinking. My analytical qualities will also assist with
helping me stand out from my peers while at the same time providing important feedback while
solving cases. One possible obstacles for not achieving this long term career goal is that I don t

The chief purpose of leash training your dog is to stop them from pulling on the leash as it not
only makes the whole idea of walking a dog disappointing but also encourages the unpleasant
behaviors he has. Generally, it s far easier to leash train a puppy than an older dog but it can be
done in both cases, the latter demanding a little more patience. Below is a comprehensive step by
step guideline towards a successful German shepherd leash training.
1. Choose the correct collar
Leash training German shepherd dog should begin with selecting an appropriate collar and
placing it onto your dog s neck. Be sure to purchase a standard leather collar that is not too tight
as we don t intend to hurt or strangle them. Next, try wearing it while the dog is absent minded;

if he tries to scratch it off or dislodge it. Instead, wait until he forgets about it and then take it off.

The Economic Growth of Japan
Japan may have restored sovereignty to the Emperor and updated its Feudal government to a
modern system, but its economy could not reach its potential unless Japan compensated for its
need of resources such as oil, rubber, and metals (Columbia University). The Empire of Japan, as
it was called from the Meiji Restoration until post World War Two invaded a series of countries
from the late 1800 s to the 1940 s. These include the Sino Japanese War (1895), Russo Japanese
War (1905) both over Korean domination, Manchuria (1931), China (1937), and French
Indochina (1940) (Columbia University). The government was still militaristic and expansion for
economic gain was the direction Japan chose (Japan Guide). This is seen through the risks Japan
took to get the benefits of the invasions, such as Korea and its raw materials, and the supplies of
Manchuria, China, and French Indochina. Lastly, Japan wanted to go after British and Dutch
colonies to help secure their defense. The only thing standing in the way of taking these
territories was the American Navy (Columbia University). Now Japan has to gamble. However,
Japan has won wars against both Russia and China from a few decades before. Not only has Japan
gained what they wanted from them, but they have established themselves as a power and gained
respect (Japan Guide). With a great sense of Nationalism and militarism, Japan has convinced

Would the revolutionary war in the New World have developed without Thomas Paine? Political
activist Thomas Paine created the first influential piece of writing, Common Sense, about retrieving
American independence over Great Britain. Common Sense was a famous 50 page pamphlet
discussing the possibility of creating a democratic republican party, and advocating independence
from Great Britain. Thomas Painehad ideas of independence before he wrote Common Sense, but

independence, and influenced him to write the pamphlet. Thomas Paine, contributing as a major

He had already written papers about the injustices and cruelties the Americans had to face while
being overruled by Britain. Thomas Paine was the only American who had the audacity to write
about gaining independence from Britain. He was the one who believed in America and its
citizens to become a world superpower, and to grow into making their beloved country special.
Written in his essay Age of Reason, he said, I saw, or at least I thought I saw, a vast scene opening
itself to the world in the affairs of America; and it appeared to me, that unless the Americans
changed the plan they were then pursuing, with respect to the government of England, and declared
themselves independent, they would not only involve themselves in a multiplicity of new
difficulties, but shut out the prospect that was then offering itself to mankind through their means,
(44). In this passage of The Age of Reason, he stated his motive to write Common Sense. His
motive to write Common Sense was for his patriots and the country as a whole. Not to make his
political status rise, but to help America progress as an independent country. It wasn t about him
and his career as an author, but about having colonial unity amongst it s citizens, and fight together
to make America advance. Not only was their motive from the American public, but also from his
fellow comrades, like Ben Franklin. They would frequently discuss upon this matter of
independence and other international news, and this would have a significant influence into the
writing of his persuasive essay. He spent hours daily discussing with his fellow moderns. It is
obvious that Paine incorporated the conversations and correspondence with his compatriots into his
essay. The long discussions that he had with Ben Franklin and his other friends gave him good
ideas and a good understanding of their current situation. These long discussions were

the overall talent level of the defense as an entirety. It is hardly advertised that of the six teams
that Michigan State has played this year, not one, but two, Oregon and Air Force, are ranked in
the top 6 of overall rush offense, according to the official website of the NCAA. To Oregon, who
is averaging 318.7 rush yards per game, Michigan State ceded only 123 rush yards on 43

which is two scores less than their per game average. However, if you were to eliminate the
Michigan State game rushing stats and only conduct rushing stats for Oregon s other 5 games,
they would be averaging 357.8 yards per game which would rank them second in the country.
While air force did manage to obtain a value closer to their yards per game average of 335.4
yards per game falling 57 yards shy. While this does not seem all that impressive, it is imperative to
realize that with the triple option scheme that Air Force runs a lot of rushing yards are going to be

between persons of different colour, race, national or ethnic origin so that one group enjoys a right
to a lesser extent than a person from another then, by force of the commonwealth law they shall
enjoy the right to same extent. The operation of the provision of the Act was summarised in
passage from the joint judgement in Mabo (No1).
The decision saw an exponential increase in cultural and economic resurgence fundamentally oiled
by the judgement. This case also established two basic principles for determining the existence of
common law native title. Thus the recognition of aboriginal people s law and customs in relation to
the determination , and its twin concept of extinguishment of common law native title. In response

The Native Title Act 1993 was legislated following the decision in Mabo (No2). The Act itself
extinguished the colonial doctrine of Terra Nulliusand instead established native title rights. Terra
Nullius as the name suggests is a Roman law concept, which literally means Land belonging to no
one . Brennan J in Mabo decision rejected the doctrine and its early derivative concepts of native
title and essentially replaced it with aboriginal customs, traditions and laws which are recognised
legally under Australian common law. The 1993Act provides a process through which the
indigenous people can lodge an application to seek a determination of native title to their land.
There were significant amendments to the Act, including the introduction of a registration test and
indigenous Land Use Agreement. This mechanism allows the aboriginal people who assert that
their traditional rights have not been extinguished, and also to validate retrospectively the land
titles of the occupiers that may have been called into question by decisions. The judgement in Mabo
(No2) depicted that until the decision, the Australian law was actually based upon the precept that
with the acquisition of sovereignty ownership of all lands would become the Crown s
automatically. So this practically left no room for the common law to recognise any pre existing
aboriginal law in the form of native title. The Mabo case undoubtedly changed this notion by
identifying that radical title, rather than absolute beneficial ownership was a concomitant of

tools to install and fiber optic even need professional to install. This cable is also easy to expand.
Lastly, coaxial cable has moderate level of EMI immunity, it won t get much interference like
twisted pair cable do. (network, n.d.)
Disadvantages of Coaxial
Coaxial cable has high attenuation rate over long distance. Besides that coaxial cable is bulky as it

Analysis Of The Rock By Peter Blume
Intention:
If you re anything like me and you see this painting of The Rock by Peter Blume (1944), you may
wonder what in the world is going on in the picture. At our first look, we see the obvious; the
enormous rock Peter Blume placed right in the center. After looking at the scenery going on, I think
that the placement and size of the rock is proportioned that way as a sign of it being significant.
The way I see it, the monument plays an important role when it comes down to determining why
there are so many things going on at once in the painting. With the comparison of the details of the
hard working people to the broken rock, half built building, and the smoke, I will establish the
reasons of why this picture shows both destruction and loyalty and the ways destruction in this
painting also results in uniting the people working.
Thesis/Claim:
The significance of the monumental rock placed right smack in the core of the painting, is the
reason as to why the workers will be united by the desturction that occured to them.
Breaking it Down, Part 1:
The most coherent pieces of evidence that show the rock is represented as a monument and the
workers are there because of it are the proportion and how everyone is working hard around it.
In terms of the placement, the rock was positioned to be right smack in the middle of this
community balanced on a couple of woods. It s strange to see how it is placed because since it is
balanced on unalligned chunks of wood, I

Although the construction procedure of nuclear power plants will substantially deplete the countries
funds, they will eventually become a beneficial asset, producing more kilowatts than coal, wind or

decline, making the expense of nuclear generated electricity that much more interesting towards the

Aiding construction is jobs, therefore raising Australia s current employment rate and boosting the

Cash Management
Cash Management Comparison Cash Management Comparison Many organizations make a
financial goal to minimize the amount of cash on hand on a monthly basis. This goal is based
on attempting to reduce the amount of non earning assets for the company. Cash on hand that is
not required to meet a specific need could be placed in an interest bearing account or used to pay
down on a credit balance, also reducing the amount of interest a company would have to pay on a
loan. Minimizing cash balances as well as having accurate knowledge of when cash moves into

Treasury notes are government obligations with a maturity of 1 to 10 years, and they may be

Strategic Process
Figure 1 is an illustration of what constitutes the strategic process with each of the stages
thoroughly investigated against internal and external factors of the organization. The formulation
stage is critical in identifying a roadmap for an organization. At this stage, there are usually senior
executives or policymakers. Once their work is complete the strategy is cascaded down for
implementation usually to line managers and public officials in the case of policy decisions who
implement according their understanding and interpretation of the main aims and objectives of the
strategy. This second stage of the strategic process forms the basis for this study.

Further, the more people involved in the formulation could also result in strategies not being
formulated at all as a result of competing interests and ideologies. In this regard, other tools of
involvement should be utilized to ensure that there is at least a general acknowledgement of the
core of the strategy by those who will be affected.
The gap between formulation and implementation is that formulation tends to be done by senior
management and that implementation is left to middle management to execute. For the senior
management, once strategy is set, interest among (them) fall rapidly away, implementation efforts
pull up short, operational behaviours and short term goals take over. The result is suboptimal
performance; strategy becomes a bywork for top management away days. Their disintrest gets lost
not only because they do not want to be involved but also that they lack the knowledge and skill to
translate strategy into action (Freedman: 26). This shortcoming results to their lack of coordination
and supervision and they do not adequately oversee the on going actioning of the plan s
recommendations. When it comes to implementation, top management not only fails to be involved
but also does not provide the needed supporting structures such as communication, resources and
managerial support (Simkin: 121 122). Alashloo, Castka and Sharp (2005) revealed that there are
four impeders which play a critical role in the success or failure of the strategy.

Billy Collins Poetry Analysis
My analysis is on introduction to poetry by Billy Collins. Collins relays the message that
readers should be patient and open minded when reading poems in order to see the meaning.
Poetry is something to experience by going inside of it. There is a heavy use of metaphors in
this poem. The first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide
resembles that sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different
light in order to see the variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different
way, not the way you would typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a
brightly colored picture, but also an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions
what are they doing? Where are they? And what s going on in the picture? By referencing an image
on the slide it also references something that holds image, and holds information that can appear

It makes the reader experience the sound or energy of the poem such as danger, anticipation, or
excitement. The part of the poem that says I say drop a mouse into a poem and watch him probe
his way out has great interpretation because sometimes it a poem you can get lost in all the
different meanings. Collins wants you to get inside of the poem and really explore it. This also
gives a clear image of a mouse in a maze working through our problem of how to get out. It s not
a straight shot from the beginning of a poem to the end, it is an intricate maze. When the poem
reads or walk inside the poem s room and feel the walls for a light switch is in reference to when
you are in the dark about what the meaning is and you want the light of understanding to be turned
on. It s as if Collins is asking us to find the place in the poems that makes the light bulb come

wondering if classical music can help you do work better than rock or the other way around.
Rock is usually being used for intense stuff such as working out and to get your blood pumping,
so some people listen to it to have a short burst of energy. While, classical music can be used to
calm you down. Also, sometimes if you play some Mozart songs can cause you to have effect

Lab Report On Colligative Properties

Lab 11: Keep It Liquid
Introduction
The purpose of this lab was to study colligative properties. These properties are properties that are
affected when a solute is added to a solvent. Thus, the amount is important, not the actual type of
substance, for the colligative properties. A couple types of this property are the freezing point and
boiling point of a substance. (1) The specific property observed in this lab was the freezing point
depression caused by the additives. This is the change in the freezing point between a standard
solvent and said solvent with added solutes. This changes the entropy of the system, making the
properties change somewhat, lowering the freezing point itself with the addition of more solute.
Hence, the term freezing point depression . A similar effect leads me to my hypothesis. Boiling
point elevation is, like freezing point depression, a colligative property. When cooking something
on a stove at higher elevations, salt (a solute) is added to the water in order to enable the water to
go to higher temperatures without boiling. The more salt is added, the higher the temperature is able
to go. Knowing this, it makes sense that the largest amount of solute will lower the temperature of
our chosen solvent, tert butanol, the most.
Method
As stated, our solvent in this lab will be tert butanol. We start by recording the freezing point of this
substance without anything added. Then, we add various

Legal Journals On American Law
Privacy, meaning the right to be left alone, has intellectual roots tracing back to the 19th century.
On December 15, 1890, Samuel D. Warren and Louis D. Brandeis had their article The Right to
Privacy published in the Harvard Law Review. This article was highly regarded as one of the
exceptional examples of the effect legal journals have on American law, and was the first of many
future law review discussions. It is our purpose to consider whether the existing law affords a
principle which can properly be invoked to protect the privacyof the individual; and if it does what
the nature and extent of such protection is (Gregory, Kalven, and Epstein 1133). Warren and
Brandeis stressed the importance and necessity for some form of protection for the private
individual when the press is overstepping their boundaries and the indecency their gossip creates.
Several decades later, in August of 1960, William L. Prosser published his article Privacy in the
California Law Review. In this article he outlined the four classifications of privacy lawwhich are as
follows:
1.Intrusion upon the plaintiff s seclusion or solitude, or into his private affairs.
2. Public disclosure of embarrassing private facts about the plaintiff.
3. Publicity which places the plaintiff in a false light in the public eye.
4. Appropriation, for the defendant s advantage, of the plaintiff s name or likeness.
The second classification refers to publication of private matters, which will be the

Common Themes In The House Of The Scorpions
In the novel House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, the memoir, Where Am I Wearing by
Kelsey Timmerman, and the short story The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, the common
theme is that a person is always a person, no matter their wealth, their skin color, or even their
birth circumstances. In the House of the Scorpions, an instance that shows this is when Matt
finally listens to what all of his friends have been telling him, about how he is not inferior to them.
Another example that accentuates the theme from Where Am I Wearing is where the reader learns
about the terrible conditions Bangladeshi workers have to suffer through. A final example of the
theme in The Scholarship Jacket is when Martha is denied the jacket because she s poor and
Mexican. A common theme similarly found in The House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, The
Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, and Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman is that
everyone is human, no matter their financial status, ethnicity, not to mention circumstances of
birth, and all deserve to be treated the same. In the novel, The House of the Scorpions, an
example of how the theme is aptly portrayed is when Matt understands that he is not inferior to
other humans because he is a clone. A quote from this moment states, Matt had to swallow hard to
keep the tears from rolling down his face. He wasn t alone after all. With friends like these, he

range nuclear missiles, capable of striking most of the major cities in the Western Hemisphere,
ranging as far north as Hudson Bay, Canada, and as far south as Lima, Peru (JFK library p. 3)
were being installed in Cuba by the Soviet Union. President Kennedydiscussed the United States
response, which included the placement of a naval blockade around the island of Cuba, a request
for an immediate convening of the United Nations Security Council, and a heightened military alert.
However, it was his third point which sent a chill around the world.... Show more content on

They also learned that Cuban pilots were training in Czechoslovakia on the latest Soviet aircraft.
Then, in mid 1961, CIA sources discovered that Cuba was receiving state of the art Soviet bombers,
fighters and transport aircraft.
At this time, the dilemma for American policymakers was that most of the military equipment
could be described accurately as defensive, and therefore not a threat to United States security.
However, much of it could also be used offensively, and the main concern was whether or not the
Soviets would provide Cuba with missiles capable of attacking America. (Johnson, Hatch p. 2)
Throughout 1961, Soviet ships continued to supply Cuba secretly with military equipment and,
then, in 1962, the volume and secrecy of the deliveries increased. In late August, for example, The
National Security Agency reported 57 Soviet ships in a little over a month.
Confronted with American concerns about this military buildup, Soviet spokesmen repeatedly
assured the U.S. government that the equipment sent to Cuba was for defense only. The President
alluded to this in his television address:
Only last Thursday ... Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko told me in my office that he was
instructed to make it clear once again ... that Soviet assistance to Cuba, and I quote, pursued solely
the purpose of contributing to the defense capabilities of Cuba , that ... training by Soviet
specialists of Cuban nationals in handling defensive armaments was by no means offensive, and if it

The Problem Analysis Of Acetone And Chloroform
1.Problem statement
Acetone and chloroform are two molecules which have an attraction for each other and form a
maximum boiling azeotrope. Their boiling points (acetone = 329.4 K and chloroform = 334.3 K)
are very close, however, they have considerably different molecular weights (acetone = 58.08 kg
/kmol and chloroform = 117.4 kg/kmol). xy diagram of acetone/chloroform mixture at 1 atm is
shown in Fig. 1 where the azeotropic composition is 36.28mol% of acetone and the temperature is
64.47В°C (Kojima et al., 1991).
Among the various solvents including water, chlorobenzene, ethylene glycol, DMSO and xylene
investigated by Luyben (Luyben, 2008) to be used in the separation of acetone/chloroform mixture
using extractive distillation, DMSO was found to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dependent variables, which are obtained from the solution of the model equations after decision
variables are set by the decision maker (i.e., optimizer).
The number of decision variables determines the degree of the freedom of a model. The degrees of
the freedom of the extractive distillation plant which has two distillation units can be divided into
two categories: design and operating degrees of freedom.
The analysis of the operating degrees of freedom of the model of a simple distillation column
having one reboiler and one condenser reveals that two parameters among the various parameters
such as reflux ratio, distillate flow rate, components recovery, condenser/reboiler temperature and
condenser/reboiler heat duty should be specified to set the degrees of the freedom to zero (Hanson
et al., 1962).
Despite the fact that considering reflux ratio and distillate flow rate is a common choice as the
operating degree of freedom for a distillation column, however, the two columns in the plant under
study are coupled through a recycle stream, which makes obtaining a converged solutions for the
simulations a very challenging

Gall Gun Double Peace Essay
Houdai Kudoki, the protagonist of Gal*Gun: Double Peace, is just an ordinary student until one
day he catches the attention of a trainee angel named Ekoro. Although she simply means to give
him a small boost in popularity, an untimely interruption by a passing demon girl causes her to
blast Houdai with an extra powerful shot. Houdai finds himself suddenly being irresistible to every
girlin the academy, but this turns out to be more of a curse than a blessing. Not only does the
constant attention from every girl drain his energy, but he only has until sundown to find his one
true love or he will end up alone forever. To make matters even more complicated there is a demon
girl running around causing mischief with two demon hunters hot on her trail. With the help of
players, Houdai must escape the throngs of adoring girls, track down the love of his life and help
thwart the demon girl.
Houdai only has one way to protect himself from the legions of adoring girls rushing at him to
profess their love and that is by shooting them with his Pheromone Gun. With enough shots or a
direct hit in their weak spots, the girls experience euphoria and crumple to the floor in poses that
ticks all the fan service boxes. Dishing out euphoria also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Completing all the side quests, which involves finding lost items for various girls, will take a

latter feels a little too easy compared to other on rail shooters. Overall, we had a lot of fun with
the game although it is obviously not for the easily offended. For a dose of ecchi, but always
humorous, on rail shooting coupled with a surprisingly entertaining visual novel, you can go wrong

Research Paper On Ancient Greek Civilization
Ancient Greece The Ancient Greece civilization is the most important topic we have studied so far
because of their architecture, their Greek gods and goddesses, and the rise of Christianity. The
Seven Wonders of the world represent ancient triumph in particular application of technology,
aesthetic beauty, and physical magnificence (Schlager). The Seven Wonders are two tombs, 2
statues, a temple, a lighthouse, hanging gardens, and the Parthenon. To build the great pyramid it
took 2 million blocks of stone weighing about 2.5 tons a piece. They had to pull these stones in
groups of people. To put that into perspective the average car weighs 2 tons so imagine pulling a
car without wheels that is what the Greeks had to do to build these sculptures.

Arguments For And Against Code Switching
The ongoing debate for and against Code switching is demonstrated by reviewing the papers of
Vershawn Young and Rebecca Wheeler. Mr. Young voices his harsh disapproval of code
switching in his paper, Should Writers Use They Own English? (Young 111) . This is offset by
Rebecca Wheeler s gently persuasive technical paper explaining her implementation of Code
switching which she titled, Code Switch to Teach Standard English (Wheeler 108) . After re
reading both papers several times, trying to move past the emotion, and return to the point of
having a US Standard English, I remain with my personal definition of the purpose of US Standard
English as a tool to communicate. Before we delve any further, let me share my understandingof
communications. In the communications industry (think Telephone), there is a simple rule, in
order for successful communication, the sender speaks their thoughts, which the telephone converts
into an electronic signal that travels across a transmission medium, to the receiver s telephone
where the signal is converted back into speech for the receiver to hear. If this process fails at any
point, then communications fails. Applying this to written communications, if the sender writes in
French and the receiver only speaks Japanese, then communications fails because the receiver could
not understand what was written. To overcome this a translator of some form must be engaged to
insure that the sender and receiver utilize the same language. Being more

by its structures and decorations. Their typical forms was not tombs nor did they have much

been embedded as a sculptural entity within the landscape, most often the temples were placed on
high grounds in order for its proportions and light effects to be viewed from all angles. In addition,

On the porch there are six draped female figures, referred as caryatids, stand on a high parapet,
lightly bearing an Ionic entablature. The caryatids served as supporting columns, the porch was
built to conceal the beam needed to support the southwest corner. At the Erechtheum they assume
the sublime Classical sculptural style. This south porch counter balances the much larger and far
open and airy north porch. The entire temple sits on a slope, having one side higher than the other.
The maidens are lifted above the main grade of the temple while the north porch sits at a lower
point of the sloping hill. The North and West side of the temple sit about a whole level lower than
then south and east sides of the temple. The detailing of the building is extremely refined and is
carried to the maximum at the north porch, focusing on the columns that support the temple.

How The Monk In The Canterbury Tales
he Monk s personal motivations are materialisticness, greed, and rebellion against the traditions of
the Catholic Church.
The Monk The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
Source: Chaucer, Geoffrey. The Canterbury Tales. 8. New York: Stephen Greenblatt, 2006. Print.
Internal/ External Characterization: Qualities of the Monk
Selfish: In the prologue the Monk displays selfish behavior. The monk clearly brings his own
desires ahead of the needs of others.
Materialistic: The Monk valued worldly things and materials more than moral values
Rebellious: The Monks actions illustrate that he prefers the world s ways rather than the church s
way of life.

The fact that his sources of motivation were secular goals such as wealth and power rather that his
religious duties reveals his lack of spiritual depth and selfish nature. Unlike ordinary monks who
pray, study, and service their community through manual labor, he entertained himself by hunting.
the Monk in Canterbury Tales spends his time participating in leisure activities such as hunting.
Materialistic I saw that his sleeves were garnished at hand With fine grey fur, the finest in the
land, And on his hood, to fasten it at its chin He had a wrought gold cunningly fashioned pin; Into
a lover s knot it seemed to pass. He liked a fat swan best, roasted as a whole
According to the rules of the church, monks were supposed to let go of worldly things to serve a
higher purpose, however the Monk is motivated by materialistic luxuries such as expensive
clothing and secular jewelry. The expensively embellished clothing the Monk wears, along with
his love for meat prove that the monk does not live the traditional religious life of hard manual
labour and fasting. Rebellious A Monk there was, one of the finest sort who rode the country;
hunting was his sport a manly man, to be an abot

The first group, represented by DDT, is known as the chlorinated hydrocarbons and the other group, represented by Malathion and parathion, consists of the organic phosphorus insecticides. Although both are organic, the organic phosphorous insecticides are more poisonous than the chlorinated hydrocarbons and have the ability to destroy enzymes. 2. When insecticides are built on a basis of carbon atoms, it is both ingenious and threatening because carbon atoms are the basic building blocks of the living world. They can be modified to become the chemistry of all life, but they can also be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Too much of the insecticides will allow acetylcholine to build up which would lead to convulsions and eventually death. 2. Research in the early 1960s proved that high levels of DDT found in predatory birds were the cause of the decrease in their populations. When the predatory birds came in contact with DDT, their reproduction was directly affected. As a result of DDT s presence in the predatory bird s body, the eggshells of these birds started to become slender. These eggshells become so thin that whenever the mother bird would lie on the egg waiting for it to hatch, the eggs would break. Thus, the predatory bird population had no means of increasing, since their reproduction was not successful. Biological magnification had a large role to play in the decrease of the predatory bird population. Spraying of DDT on vegetation led to contamination of the prey populations such as fish. These prey started building large concentrations of DDT within their bodies. As a result, the predatory birds also got contaminated, since they preyed upon contaminated animals. 3. With regards to the genetic makeup of target insect populations, heavy pesticideuse can alter their DNA to the point where the insects develop a resistance to certain insecticides like malaria mosquitoes to DDT. These effects can be counterproductive to long term insect control because one the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But as I left the theater after watching Spotlight, my response was different. I couldn t shake the overwhelming thought that this movie was important. Granted, the HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING response was still present. Importance remained my number one takeaway from the movie though, and I soon learned its true importance. Director/writer Thomas McCarthy and writer Josh Singer piece together the complex and startling true story of how the special Spotlight division of the Boston Globe uncovered child sex abuse within the Catholic Church. In many ways McCarthy and Singer act as the reporters... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McCarthy and Singer made clear they intended to display the greatness journalism can achieve, and how the institution of journalism has seen better days. As Singer put it, We felt the best way we could talk about that is: show great local journalism, you know, doing its thing. I think Marty [Baron] said it last night Watergate was a local story, just two Metro reporters going after a break in, right? And it turned out to be a national story. In regards to the Spotlight investigation and Watergate, Singer says, We need more of this, not less. McCarthy followed this up by more or less revealing his plan to help revitalize journalism, We need more young people like yourselves to be inspired to realize just what an amazing profession it is, and how important it is. Who would have guessed the story about pedophilia in the Catholic Church would be inspirational? Not me. But once you begin to look at it as less of a condemnation of the Catholic Church, and more as a celebration of exceptional journalism, the full scope of the movie comes to ... • 4. Deviant Populations In Prisons Throughout history societies have attempted to manage and control their deviant populations. Western industrial societies have undergone a number of transformations in their quest to achieve such control. Disenchantment with the penal system and its inability to achieve rehabilitation within its confines has meant that in recent years, and especially since the 1960 s, a central element in the social control practises of advanced capitalist societies has been a state sponsored attempt to deinstitutionalise deviant populations. In face of steadily escalating crime rates, overcrowded prison systems and an increasing number of the population formally deserving imprisonment, a variety of approaches have been initiated in an attempt to reduce the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn t until the 1960 s however that the transformations that took place at the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth centuries seriously became under attack (Cohen 1985, p.30). The notion of these attacks were that the prison system was failing (Tomasic and Dobinson 1979, p.15). Prisons were seen as brutal (Vinson 1982, p.14), inhumane, and instead of achieving their rehabilitative goals, studies have shown that the further into the system a deviant is processed, the harder it is for him or her to return to a normal life (Cohen 1985, p.33). An increasing crime rate and number of those imprisoned led to the demand for action to be taken, but at the lowest possible cost to society (Tomasic and Dobinson 1979, p.16). The failure of repeated efforts to better the penal system produced consensus in favour of reversing the directions taken by the system in the late eighteenth century (Cohen 1985, p.31) and a recognition that perhaps instead of upgrading prisons, the focus should be on emptying ... • 6. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The Workplace The Importance of Cultural Diversity Cultural diversity is defined as The existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society (Oxford, 2017). Within the workplace there have been a trend towards promoting diversity by maintaining a workforce with workers differ in area such as race, sexual orientation, age, and gender. This is often times a daunting and difficult task for management. Effective communication can be challenging for diverse groups. Language barriers for example may cause confusion leading to conflict. Another risk to implementing diversity in the workplace is that some employees feel that individuals may have gained their respective position unjustly. Conversely, differing employees may feel out of place and not assimilate well with the rest of the group (Kirby Richard, 2000). Promoting cultural diversity is not just relegate to the hiring of diverse individuals; rather the organization must also seek to create and maintain policies, procedures, training, and even incentives to truly cultivate a positive culturally diverse environment (Patrick and Kumar 2012). With all the time, money, and effort necessary to create and maintain a diverse work environment, leaders are left wondering what if any, benefits can be gained by promoting cultural diversity. Research indicates that there are several valuable assets to fostering cultural diversity in the workplace. Firstly, the makeup of the labor pool is changing. There has been a steady increase ... For example, the author uses the symbol of an enormous pine and the sentence, his father has always preferred his company to that of other men to show his affection for the son. The enormous pine tree that looks over the tent in which they sleep in can symbolize the paternal figure within him that looks over his son. The author also tells us that the father would rather spend time with his son than other guys, which shows the love he has for him and the time he wants to spend with him. Eventually in the passage the son tells his father that he would rather go fishing with Bill Harper. For a little while his father didn t say thing. The he said why sure go along Joe. This sentence shows that his father had a slight hesitation with him being alright with his son going with someone else. The Economic Growth of Japan Japan may have restored sovereignty to the Emperor and updated its Feudal government to a modern system, but its economy could not reach its potential unless Japan compensated for its need of resources such as oil, rubber, and metals (Columbia University). The Empire of Japan, as it was called from the Meiji Restoration until post World War Two invaded a series of countries from the late 1800 s to the 1940 s. These include the Sino Japanese War (1895), Russo Japanese War (1905) both over Korean domination, Manchuria (1931), China (1937), and French Indochina (1940) (Columbia University). The government was still militaristic and expansion for economic gain was the direction Japan chose (Japan Guide). This is seen through the risks Japan took to get the benefits of the invasions, such as Korea and its raw materials, and the supplies of Manchuria, China, and French Indochina. Lastly, Japan wanted to go after British and Dutch colonies to help secure their defense. The only thing standing in the way of taking these territories was the American Navy (Columbia University). Now Japan has to gamble. However, Japan has won wars against both Russia and China from a few decades before. Not only has Japan gained what they wanted from them, but they have established themselves as a power and gained respect (Japan Guide). He had already written papers about the injustices and cruelties the Americans had to face while being overruled by Britain. Thomas Paine was the only American who had the audacity to write about gaining independence from Britain. Written in his essay Age of Reason, he said, I saw, or at least I thought I saw, a vast scene opening itself to the world in the affairs of America; and it appeared to me, that unless the Americans changed the plan they were then pursuing, with respect to the government of England, and declared themselves independent, they would not only involve themselves in a multiplicity of new difficulties, but shut out the prospect that was then offering itself to mankind through their means, (44). In this passage of The Age of Reason, he stated his motive to write Common Sense. His motive to write Common Sense was for his patriots and the country as a whole. Not to make his political status rise, but to help America progress as an independent country. It wasn t about him and his career as an author, but about having colonial unity amongst it s citizens, and fight together to make America advance. Not only was their motive from the American public, but also from his fellow comrades, like Ben Franklin. They would frequently discuss upon this matter of independence and other international news, and this would have a significant influence into the writing of his persuasive essay. Native Title Analysis between persons of different colour, race, national or ethnic origin so that one group enjoys a right to a lesser extent than a person from another then, by force of the commonwealth law they shall enjoy the right to same extent. The operation of the provision of the Act was summarised in passage from the joint judgement in Mabo (No1). The decision saw an exponential increase in cultural and economic resurgence fundamentally oiled by the judgement. This case also established two basic principles for determining the existence of common law native title. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Native Title Act 1993 was legislated following the decision in Mabo (No2). The Act itself extinguished the colonial doctrine of Terra Nulliusand instead established native title rights. Terra Nullius as the name suggests is a Roman law concept, which literally means Land belonging to no one . Brennan J in Mabo decision rejected the doctrine and its early derivative concepts of native title and essentially replaced it with aboriginal customs, traditions and laws which are recognised legally under Australian common law. The 1993Act provides a process through which the indigenous people can lodge an application to seek a determination of native title to their land. There were significant amendments to the Act, including the introduction of a registration test and indigenous Land Use Agreement. This mechanism allows the aboriginal people who assert that their traditional rights have not been extinguished, and also to validate retrospectively the land titles of the occupiers that may have been called into question by decisions. The judgement in Mabo (No2) depicted that until the decision, the Australian law was actually based upon the precept that with the acquisition of sovereignty ownership of all lands would become the Crown s automatically. So this practically left no room for the common law to recognise any pre existing aboriginal law in the form of native title. The Mabo case undoubtedly changed this notion by identifying that radical title, rather than absolute beneficial ownership was a concomitant of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Rock By Peter Blume Intention: If you re anything like me and you see this painting of The Rock by Peter Blume (1944), you may wonder what in the world is going on in the picture. At our first look, we see the obvious; the enormous rock Peter Blume placed right in the center. After looking at the scenery going on, I think that the placement and size of the rock is proportioned that way as a sign of it being significant. The way I see it, the monument plays an important role when it comes down to determining why there are so many things going on at once in the painting. With the comparison of the details of the hard working people to the broken rock, half built building, and the smoke, I will establish the reasons of why this picture shows both destruction and loyalty and the ways destruction in this painting also results in uniting the people working. Thesis/Claim: The significance of the monumental rock placed right smack in the core of the painting, is the reason as to why the workers will be united by the desturction that occured to them. Breaking it Down, Part 1: The most coherent pieces of evidence that show the rock is represented as a monument and the workers are there because of it are the proportion and how everyone is working hard around it. The gap between formulation and implementation is that formulation tends to be done by senior management and that implementation is left to middle management to execute. For the senior management, once strategy is set, interest among (them) fall rapidly away, implementation efforts pull up short, operational behaviours and short term goals take over. Collins relays the message that readers should be patient and open minded when reading poems in order to see the meaning. Poetry is something to experience by going inside of it. There is a heavy use of metaphors in this poem. The first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide resembles that sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different light in order to see the variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different way, not the way you would typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a brightly colored picture, but also an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions what are they doing? Where are they? • 37. Lab Report On Colligative Properties Lillian Guttery Matt Chem 1315 011 6/25/2017 Lab 11: Keep It Liquid Introduction The purpose of this lab was to study colligative properties. These properties are properties that are affected when a solute is added to a solvent. Thus, the amount is important, not the actual type of substance, for the colligative properties. A couple types of this property are the freezing point and boiling point of a substance. (1) The specific property observed in this lab was the freezing point depression caused by the additives. This is the change in the freezing point between a standard solvent and said solvent with added solutes. This changes the entropy of the system, making the properties change somewhat, lowering the freezing point itself with the addition of more solute. Hence, the term freezing point depression . A similar effect leads me to my hypothesis. Boiling point elevation is, like freezing point depression, a colligative property. When cooking something on a stove at higher elevations, salt (a solute) is added to the water in order to enable the water to go to higher temperatures without boiling. The more salt is added, the higher the temperature is able to go. Knowing this, it makes sense that the largest amount of solute will lower the temperature of our chosen solvent, tert butanol, the most. Method As stated, our solvent in this lab will be tert butanol. We start by recording the freezing point of this substance without anything added. Then, we add various ... Brandeis had their article The Right to Privacy published in the Harvard Law Review. This article was highly regarded as one of the exceptional examples of the effect legal journals have on American law, and was the first of many future law review discussions. It is our purpose to consider whether the existing law affords a principle which can properly be invoked to protect the privacyof the individual; and if it does what the nature and extent of such protection is (Gregory, Kalven, and Epstein 1133). Warren and Brandeis stressed the importance and necessity for some form of protection for the private individual when the press is overstepping their boundaries and the indecency their gossip creates. Several decades later, in August of 1960, William L. Prosser published his article Privacy in the California Law Review. In this article he outlined the four classifications of privacy lawwhich are as follows: 1.Intrusion upon the plaintiff s seclusion or solitude, or into his private affairs. 2. • 39. Common Themes In The House Of The Scorpions In the novel House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, the memoir, Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman, and the short story The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, the common theme is that a person is always a person, no matter their wealth, their skin color, or even their birth circumstances. In the House of the Scorpions, an instance that shows this is when Matt finally listens to what all of his friends have been telling him, about how he is not inferior to them. Another example that accentuates the theme from Where Am I Wearing is where the reader learns about the terrible conditions Bangladeshi workers have to suffer through. A final example of the theme in The Scholarship Jacket is when Martha is denied the jacket because she s poor and Mexican. A common theme similarly found in The House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, and Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman is that everyone is human, no matter their financial status, ethnicity, not to mention circumstances of birth, and all deserve to be treated the same. In the novel, The House of the Scorpions, an example of how the theme is aptly portrayed is when Matt understands that he is not inferior to other humans because he is a clone. A quote from this moment states, Matt had to swallow hard to keep the tears from rolling down his face. He wasn t alone after all. With friends like these, he would triumph, as El Patron had triumphed over death and povertyand death so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Cuban Missile Crisis Essay On October 22nd, 1962, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 35th President of the United States of America, addressed the nation on television. In his seven point speech, he informed his audience that long range nuclear missiles, capable of striking most of the major cities in the Western Hemisphere, ranging as far north as Hudson Bay, Canada, and as far south as Lima, Peru (JFK library p. 3) were being installed in Cuba by the Soviet Union. President Kennedydiscussed the United States response, which included the placement of a naval blockade around the island of Cuba, a request for an immediate convening of the United Nations Security Council, and a heightened military alert. However, it was his third point which sent a chill around the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also learned that Cuban pilots were training in Czechoslovakia on the latest Soviet aircraft. Then, in mid 1961, CIA sources discovered that Cuba was receiving state of the art Soviet bombers, fighters and transport aircraft. At this time, the dilemma for American policymakers was that most of the military equipment could be described accurately as defensive, and therefore not a threat to United States security. However, much of it could also be used offensively, and the main concern was whether or not the Soviets would provide Cuba with missiles capable of attacking America. (Johnson, Hatch p. 2) Throughout 1961, Soviet ships continued to supply Cuba secretly with military equipment and, then, in 1962, the volume and secrecy of the deliveries increased. In late August, for example, The National Security Agency reported 57 Soviet ships in a little over a month. Confronted with American concerns about this military buildup, Soviet spokesmen repeatedly assured the U.S. government that the equipment sent to Cuba was for defense only. The President alluded to this in his television address: Only last Thursday ... Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko told me in my office that he was instructed to make it clear once again ... that Soviet assistance to Cuba, and I quote, pursued solely the purpose of contributing to the defense capabilities of Cuba , that ... training by Soviet specialists of Cuban nationals in handling defensive armaments was by no means offensive, and if it ... • 41. The Problem Analysis Of Acetone And Chloroform 1.Problem statement Acetone and chloroform are two molecules which have an attraction for each other and form a maximum boiling azeotrope. Their boiling points (acetone = 329.4 K and chloroform = 334.3 K) are very close, however, they have considerably different molecular weights (acetone = 58.08 kg /kmol and chloroform = 117.4 kg/kmol). xy diagram of acetone/chloroform mixture at 1 atm is shown in Fig. 1 where the azeotropic composition is 36.28mol% of acetone and the temperature is 64.47В°C (Kojima et al., 1991). Among the various solvents including water, chlorobenzene, ethylene glycol, DMSO and xylene investigated by Luyben (Luyben, 2008) to be used in the separation of acetone/chloroform mixture using extractive distillation, DMSO was found to ... The number of decision variables determines the degree of the freedom of a model. The degrees of the freedom of the extractive distillation plant which has two distillation units can be divided into two categories: design and operating degrees of freedom. The analysis of the operating degrees of freedom of the model of a simple distillation column having one reboiler and one condenser reveals that two parameters among the various parameters such as reflux ratio, distillate flow rate, components recovery, condenser/reboiler temperature and condenser/reboiler heat duty should be specified to set the degrees of the freedom to zero (Hanson et al., 1962). Despite the fact that considering reflux ratio and distillate flow rate is a common choice as the operating degree of freedom for a distillation column, however, the two columns in the plant under study are coupled through a recycle stream, which makes obtaining a converged solutions for the simulations a very challenging ... • 43. Research Paper On Ancient Greek Civilization Ancient Greece The Ancient Greece civilization is the most important topic we have studied so far because of their architecture, their Greek gods and goddesses, and the rise of Christianity. The Seven Wonders of the world represent ancient triumph in particular application of technology, aesthetic beauty, and physical magnificence (Schlager). The Seven Wonders are two tombs, 2 statues, a temple, a lighthouse, hanging gardens, and the Parthenon. To build the great pyramid it took 2 million blocks of stone weighing about 2.5 tons a piece. They had to pull these stones in groups of people. To put that into perspective the average car weighs 2 tons so imagine pulling a car without wheels that is what the Greeks had to do to build these sculptures. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Arguments For And Against Code Switching The ongoing debate for and against Code switching is demonstrated by reviewing the papers of Vershawn Young and Rebecca Wheeler. Mr. Young voices his harsh disapproval of code switching in his paper, Should Writers Use They Own English? (Young 111) . This is offset by Rebecca Wheeler s gently persuasive technical paper explaining her implementation of Code switching which she titled, Code Switch to Teach Standard English (Wheeler 108) . After re reading both papers several times, trying to move past the emotion, and return to the point of having a US Standard English, I remain with my personal definition of the purpose of US Standard English as a tool to communicate. Before we delve any further, let me share my understandingof communications. In the communications industry (think Telephone), there is a simple rule, in order for successful communication, the sender speaks their thoughts, which the telephone converts into an electronic signal that travels across a transmission medium, to the receiver s telephone where the signal is converted back into speech for the receiver to hear. If this process fails at any point, then communications fails. Applying this to written communications, if the sender writes in French and the receiver only speaks Japanese, then communications fails because the receiver could not understand what was written. To overcome this a translator of some form must be engaged to insure that the sender and receiver utilize the same language. Being more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fact that his sources of motivation were secular goals such as wealth and power rather that his religious duties reveals his lack of spiritual depth and selfish nature. Unlike ordinary monks who pray, study, and service their community through manual labor, he entertained himself by hunting. the Monk in Canterbury Tales spends his time participating in leisure activities such as hunting. Materialistic I saw that his sleeves were garnished at hand With fine grey fur, the finest in the land, And on his hood, to fasten it at its chin He had a wrought gold cunningly fashioned pin; Into a lover s knot it seemed to pass. He liked a fat swan best, roasted as a whole According to the rules of the church, monks were supposed to let go of worldly things to serve a higher purpose, however the Monk is motivated by materialistic luxuries such as expensive clothing and secular jewelry. The expensively embellished clothing the Monk wears, along with his love for meat prove that the monk does not live the traditional religious life of hard manual labour and fasting.
