Essay On Rhetoric Reflection
In college, we get asked to write enough papers to fill a book, and all those papers start off as drafts
where they must be edited and corrected before turning them in as the final draft. This process is
particularly interesting to see how one can improve their work. Analyzing a paper to see the ways in
which information is portrayed and relayed to the reader is vital to the writing process. In this paper, I
will be examining a previous assignment from a former English course. To analyze the paper
thoroughly, I will be looking at the rhetoric used within and its effectiveness, along with the mistakes
that lie within the paper. I will critique my work and suggest ways to correct errors, or applaud
attributes within that were well done.

I used many tools to pull on the heartstrings of my audience. I used personal experience, certain events
that take place, and reflections on how things can turn out whether they are good or bad, in both
relationships, or on a roller coaster that are relatable to the reader. An example of this from my paper
shows the ethos very nicely; Do you remember the first time you fell in love? How about the first time
you got on a roller coaster? These two first times seem to have a lot in common, but they also have
some interesting differences. The first time a person does either of these things it can be scary as well
as thrilling. Imagine a teenage girl being asked out for the first time, and that same teenage girl getting
on a huge roller coaster. She would most likely be scared and unsure about both, and predicting
outcomes in her head. All a person tends to think about is the drop. This example can be an example
for almost any person. The first time a person gets on a roller coaster it is scary or nerve racking. The
same can be said for the first time you fall in love. Throughout that entire excerpt, the reader can
experience possible flashbacks to previous personal experiences. The relatable factor that ethos gives a
paper is essential in really getting your reader interested in what they are

The World s First Debate On Morality
In 11th Century, The Spanish Empire sent men to conquer the Americas and they discovered natives in
the area. As a result of their interactions with the natives, a debate as to how they should treat or
interact with the natives got to a boiling point, and was settled in a debate in Valladolid in 1550, with
two men defending either side of the world s first debate on morality. One of these men was
Bartolomé de las Casas, a Dominican Catholic friar who spent some time with the American Natives,
and debated to defend them against any harsh rule or handling by the hands of the Spanish. On the
other end was Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, an Aristotelian philosopher, argued for the enslavement of
these natives due to the superiority of the Spanish over them. They both held strong convictions about
their arguments, however Las Casas argument was made more effectively because he was more
rational in his argument. Alternatively, Sepúlveda chose an exaggerated appeal to emotions as his
approach for the argument he was making. Sepúlveda appeals to emotion in a variety of ways one of
them being exaggerated language. In the beginning of his Treatise on the Just Causes of War against
the Indians , he asked, what moderation or mildness can you expect of men who are given to all kinds
of intemperance and wicked lusts, and who eat human flesh? The colorful use of words such as
mildness and moderation in contrast with accusations of intemperance (gluttony), wicked lusts and

Reagan Cold War Research Paper
During the beginning of the Reagan presidency, Cold War pressure between the Soviet Union and the
United States boosted. Reagan entered office deeply cautious of the Soviet Union. Reagan
characterized the Soviet Union as an evil empire and called for a space based missile defense system,
battered by critics as Star Wars.
Reagan and his aides tended to view every regional battle through a Cold War lens. Nowhere was this
more accurate than in the Western Hemisphere, where he was firm to avoid a Communist increase, In
October 1983, Prime Minister Maurice Bishop of Grenada, a small island nation in the Caribbean, was
killed and a more capital Marxist government took control, Afterward Soviet money and Cuban troops
came to Grenada. When they started to create an airfield adequate of landing large military aircraft,
the Reagan administration assured to abolish the Communists and bring up a pro American tenure. On

Trader Joe s vs. Whole Foods Market: A Comparison of Operational Management
15.768 Management of Services: Concepts, Design, and Delivery

Grocery shopping is more diversified and evolved than ever before. Individuals across the nation
have access to everything from exotic products to unique delivery services. Often, specialty stores
have limited locations whereas specialty services have a limited reach. However, two retailers have
expanded to hundreds of locations while adhering to unexpected market positioning for previously
untargeted market segments. Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe s have become household names
while also innovating beyond regional and national traditional chains. Despite comparable size in ...

Every retail location carries a variety of products that distinguishes it from other stores in the same
chain. Not surprisingly, it is difficult to achieve economies of scale. Supply Chain Mackey describes
his consumers as being part of a cult . Whole Foods believes that the company s emphasis on
perishables and locally sourced produce differentiates their stores from run of the mill supermarkets
and attracts loyal and devoted customers. However, fresh produce is one of the most challenging
product categories to operate due to limited product shelf life and high cost of spoilage. Whole Foods
has tried to circumvent most of the problems inherent in supplying fresh produce to its stores by
sourcing locally and having short and flexible supply chains. In the case of fruits and vegetables,
Whole Foods has buying relationships with local farmers who supply the store with seasonal produce.
Thus, if one farmer is unable to produce a sufficient amount of yellow corn or heirloom tomatoes, the
shortfall can be made up by another farmer. Although challenging to perfect, these short supply chains
are agile and difficult for other big retailers to duplicate.

Black Meat In Naked Lunch
Fats becomes completely normalized and ends up serving and morphing into the system, here the
system manifests itself as Black Meat (103). According to Naked Lunch, Black Meat is like a tainted
cheese, overpoweringly delicious and nauseating so that the eaters eat and vomit and eat again until
they fall exhausted (31). It has an addictive force that could be claimed to symbolize the need to fit in
the normal society. The act of eating until one is vomiting shows how exhausting and painful it is to
try and satisfy one s need to fit in where parts of you has to be suppressed. This character becomes so
absorb by the idea of servitude that he himself morphs into a controlling mechanisms: he becomes the
idea of constant surveillance (Foucault 201). This claim can be argued as such due to the shape he
morphs into. Large periscope eyes (103) stand as a symbol for the central tower in the panopticon
(Foucault 200), and his search for monkeys show how power is always in search for the abnormal.
The more abnormality Fats periscope eyes find, the more the system has to expand. This manifesting
itself in the growth of Fats who progressively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Coke Bugs chapter a young street boy has through his black scars of junk, retained a wild,
broken innocence: shy animals peering out through grey arabesques of terror (99). The junky named

appealing to the boy s inner desire. At first he reveals a hypodermic needle (99) after which he says,

CIA, to Salvador Allende s political downfall. To adequately evaluate the involvement of the United
States and the CIA, this investigation emphasizes the multiple measures and operations taken through
distinctive cases of economic plots, operations track 1 and 2, as well as the infiltration into Chilean
political and military factions. This investigation strives to answer the question: How did the United

While I wished to provide an accurate testimony through media search, publications, and memoirs, I
realized this method would not be time efficient and would restrict my view to a traditionalist
interpretation since the events were seen firsthand. Utilizing solely primary sources would not have
been beneficial to my investigation as a whole. In order to include more revisionist perspectives,
which better portray my own, I used research collected by other historians to discover the different
aspects of United States involvement. The most difficult aspect of history is that there is no correct or
straightforward answer. All history is interpreted differently by the different people involved which
leads to biases. For this reason, there is no guarantee that the information will ever be entirely
objective. By looking at multiple sources, I was able to form an idea of the events that occurred while
viewing different interpretations with similar themes. One of the most important aspects of my
research was finding multiple sources that included similar information in order to verify the accuracy

(MARKET RESEARCH) We use market research to gain valuable insights about our customers, the
market condition, and our competitive surroundings. We use this knowledge to build a more effective
marketing plan. This focuses on specific information regarding our target market and the key factors
that influence their buying decisions. When conducting this information, it is very important to keep in
mind six marketing research questions which include Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How. Who
is purchasing and consuming sport products and services. What is the competition, what do the
customers want and need, and what factors influence purchase decisions. When is the purchase
decision made and when is the purchase used. Where is the information sought and where is the
decision made. Why is the purchase made. Last but not least, how is the product or service used. Our
primary research is the direct contact we have with our clients, and by doing that we use focus groups
to gather small groups of people together for a discussion with an assigned leader. We also engage in
customer surveys for existing customers as well as potential customers. A few of the questions that are

Speak, Memory by Vladamir Nabokov
To some degree, every artist creates his or her own artistic life preserver, and in doing so resequences
and conserves their own artistic DNA so that it may be transferred onto another generation. Vladimir
Nabokov s memoir Speak, Memory, is not only that preserver, but the tug boat that it holds onto,
heavy and cramped with the memories and history that Nabokov retells his readers against the currents
of time. Speak, Memory operates thematically, not chronologically. Nabokov returns anew to his early
childhood and pulls in, as it were, the memories associated with certain themes. Then he turns,
changes directions, and sets off again. One such theme that resonates throughout the novel is that of
exile and deteterritorialization, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(79) Even early on in his childhood, Nobokov found those comfortable products of Anglo Saxon
civilization as nothing more than useful necessities. The extinct tradition learning that is taken on by
him is private multilingual tutorship, even if now it seems like a very pluralistic one as it included
both Russian, English and French at the same time. It is this because of this multilingual education
that Nabokov encounters less wonder in terms of cultural conflicts that usually plights other exiles.
Nabokov s traditional aristocratic background accentuates many of his experiences abroad, he
internalizes spiritual deteterritorialization and finds enjoyment within it. But it is also this spiritual
deterritorialization that follows Nabokov throughout his life that makes his account of his life seem
more artistic and disconnected, even if there is a profound emotional impact on the reader in the end.
While some moments in his life might evoke sympathy, like his retelling of his father s death, or make
readers to take a side, such as the incident with Nesbit during his time in Cambridge, Nabokov keeps
the reader at a distance by concealing his feelings in rhetoric. An example of this is the short
biography (173) of his father. Using vivid details to describe his father, one can feel the spiritual
resonance the experience had on Nabokov. And behind it all there was yet a very special emotional
abyss that I was

Diagnosing a Sore Throat Case Study In the early morning hours on a Sunday, a worried mother
brought in a 22 month old child to the emergency room. The young girl was exhibiting signs of a
common cold, including a low grade fever and runny nose that had been persisting for the last 48
hours. The child also had a hoarse cough and forced, noisy breathing. Her larynx was raw and swollen
and she had mucus coating her red throat. Upon examination, the pediatrician also noticed mild
inflammation of the ears and cloudy eyes. A rapid Strep test performed on the child came back
negative, and a warm vaporizer helped to alleviate her difficulty breathing.
My initial belief was that the child might be exhibiting signs of strep throat. However after the
physician was able to perform a rapid Strep test, which produced negative results, I felt it was best to

Adenoviruses represent the largest non enveloped or naked viruses at 75 nanometers and have 252
capsomeres that contribute to its icosahedral capsid structure (Doerfler 1996). The virus particle has
spikes on the base of each capsomer that aid in attachment to the host cell. At the core of the virus is
double stranded linear DNA that replicates in the nucleus of the host cell. Adenovirus infection is a
communicable disease and transmission of the adenovirus particle occurs in two general ways. The
virus can be spread in airborne droplets that are released when an infected person sneezes or coughs.
The virus can also be transmitted by contact with an infected object or fomite. Adenovirus is unusually
stable in adverse chemical, physical and pH conditions and can survive for a prolonged period of time
outside of a host cell (Adenoviridae 2015). In rare instances, the virus can also be spread through

Stroke Research Papers
Stroke, also known as cerebrovascular accident (CVA), is the fourth leading cause of death in the
United States today. In any given year, approximately 800,000 Americans will suffer a stroke, with
nearly 25% dying acutely or from subsequent complications over the following 12 months. This
article will describe the pathogenesis of the major types of stroke and briefly discuss some treatment
options.
Thromboembolic Strokes 85% of strokes result from a thrombus, or blood clot, blocking the flow of
oxygenated blood to the brain. This scenario often occurs in the context of undiagnosed or
undertreated atrial fibrillation. In atrial fibrillation, the abnormal fluttering movement of the heart s

The blood vessel in question may be a branch of a middle cerebral artery, producing the symptoms
described above. In other cases, the vessel may be located deep inside the brain, causing a so called
lacunar infarct, which can result in sensory or motor deficits (but seldom both). Hemorrhagic strokes
can also result from head trauma or therapy with anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin. Currently, there
is no specific treatment for most hemorrhagic strokes other than supportive care followed by
occupational, physical, and speech therapy. In the appendix of this book, I propose a novel approach
to acute stroke management. The most catastrophic form of hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a weak,
bulging region in a blood vessel wall called an aneurysm ruptures, leading to a subarachnoid
hemorrhage (SAH). Intracranial aneurysms are more common in people with polycystic kidney
disease; still, the majority of cases are sporadic. People suffering from an SAH complain of the worst
headache of their lives and often experience seizures and loss of consciousness. Even with prompt
hospitalization and surgical intervention, 30% of SAH victims do not

The Cave Allegory
We experience reality through our five senses; sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing. These provide us
with the ability to experience reality. But with illusion, we use our imagination. The Cave Allegory
talks about imagining a cave full of imprisoned people since their birth, facing a blank wall. The
prisoners watch shadows of objects passing in front of a fire that is behind them and gives names to
these shadows. Now since these people have been chained to the wall all of their lives, the shadows
are their reality. Once broken free from the chains, the prisoners are able to see the objects for what
they are and discover that their reality was not really what they thought. The Matrix is about heroes

Aerobic Exercise Release Stress Research Paper
Aerobic Exercise Releases Stress Psychologists have researched and tested the theory that aerobic
exercise combats emotional distress, relieving stressors that combine with negative thinking patterns.
Studies have brought psychologists to the conclusion that not only does aerobic exercise release stress,
but people who perform these exercises tend to show a significant decrease in negative and depressive
symptoms.
They tested this theory at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, on ninety five eligible male and
female participants ranging from eighteen to thirty six years old using various methodologies. The
participants required to complete three in person lab visits, participated in different activities each

to ensure we are all on an equal footing and that everyone regardless of their social status, race, sex,

Many of us have grown up in the country where off road driving is not just a past time, but a great
way to spend time with family and friends. Having mud bogging trucks to tear through off road

another alternative is to modify the intake to receive air from inside the cab of the rig. Along with

Although physical torture is now illegal, it does not stop police from using other methods of
psychological deception. One of the most popular methods is showing the suspect falsified or
fabricated evidence, otherwise known as a false evidence ploy (FEP). There are three categories:
demeanor, testimonial and scientific. A study done in 2007 showed that ninety two percent of a sample
of 631 policemen used FEPs to gain a confession (Forrest, 2012). Demeanor FEPs are characterized
by the behavior of the suspect and using those assumptions to determine whether or not he or she is
guilty. Sayings such as We can tell the way you re acting that you are not innocent and You don t
seemed surprised or sad that he is dead show that detectives and police use the suspects appearance
and behavior to specify guilt, even though there is no evidence proving it. Testimonial FEPs are one of
the most common and consist of eyewitnesses, video surveillance or a co conspirator that puts them at

Being A Twin Research Paper
Being a twin has been nothing short of ordinary. I have never been treated as normal. The first
question I get asked when I meet people is always about being a twin. Oh you are a twin? Have you
ever switched classes with one another? How is it like being a twin? are just some of the questions I
am barraged with. While the questions may not seem harmful, to me they are extremely annoying and
almost insulting. It shows that they do not care about who I am, but rather who we are. It is a painful
realisation to know that some of the people who I know are only my friend because I am a twin. It isn
t just my social life that has taken the toll, but also my academic career. Throughout my schooling I
have felt immense pressure from peers, teachers,

This optical amplification is started from some emission...
This optical amplification is started from some emission but it is not exposed yet until Albert Einstein
proposed in 1916. After that, the things became more seriously after 1954 when Townes and Arthur
Schawlow also with Gordon Gould proposed laser action, then not long after 4 years, in 1960, first
laser was build by Theodore Maiman. Besides that, Gordon also derived the word laser from light
amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation . The laser developer look amplification is very
important as a step to build a laser, so these people make one advance to develop amplifiers from
semiconductor laser to be used as light sources. This is because of semiconductor have high gain.

This is because maybe due to this erbium doped fiber amplifiers can amplify signals at the low loss.
This type also is suitable to be use in long haul and have low noise. Besides that, it also have wide
spectral band amplification and it is manly useful for WDM application and it s have relative flat gain
( 20 dB). In contrast, there are some disadvantage using this type which is includes it is not easily
integrated with other devices because it is relatively large device (km length of fiber). Diagram 3 : A
Erbium doped fiber Amplifier
The Optical gain in Optical amplifier can be defined as the ratio of the optical signal power at the
input to the optical signal power at the output. This can de also shown by the formula ;,
G = Pin Pout
The gain is basically measured in dB and exist in the range of the 10 until 30 dB.
Noise figure is the measure of the signal to noise ratio between input and output of the component. In
other words, Noise Figure (NF) . It is a measure of how much a devices such as amplifier degrades the
signal to noise ratio (SNR). During amplification process, noise exist, so the output signal is always
noisier from input signal. So, in order to get better performance of optical amplifier, Noise figure
should be kept as low as possible.

I believe that industrialization was generally beneficial to the lives of the American people and the
history of the United States. Several of the advantages are outlined in the above paragraph. Overall,
Americans enjoyed a higher standard of living and a longer life span, thanks to the Industrial
Revolution. ...before the eighteenth century there was no mechanism by which long term sustainable
growth could take place. By the mid nineteenth century such growth was an established fact of life:
for the first time rapid population increase was accompanied by sustained growth in income per
person. (More, C. 2000).
In this brief paper, we have discussed two elements of industrialization that positively affected
American lives and two elements of industrialization that negatively affected American lives. One of
these negative elements was the employment of children in the industrial arena. The second negative
aspect was that the roots of our environmentally challenged society stemmed from the Industrial
Revolution.
From a positive stance, American grew and prospered economically, and became a superpower on the
world stage. Laws governing child labor were enacted and in general the population became healthier
and enjoyed a longer life span.
We have also looked at whether or not industrialization was generally beneficial or detrimental to the

way to the Senate house Artemidorus tells Caesar to read this scroll immediately and Caesar replies
What, urge you your petitions in the street? Come to the Capitol (935). Then Caesar walks off with the
rest of them just following behind.
Caesar ends up being murdered after ignoring all of the warnings. Caesar ignores all of the warnings
about not coming to the Senate House on March 15th. It ends up being the day he gets brutally

Cassius, Casca, Trebonius, Ligarius, Decius, Metellus, and Cinna. Julius Caesar sits in his chair like
usual and is approached by none other than one of the conspirators Metellus and he says Is there no
voice more worthy than my own, To sound more sweetly in great Caesar s ear For the repealing of my
banished brother? (937). While Metellus is asking this all of the other conspirators are getting closer
surrounding Caesar and joining in, in the asking for Publius Cimber to return. The conspirators know
that this is an outrageous thing to ask of Caesar and are just using it as a guise to get closer to Caesar

Unionization Process In The Film Norma Rae
Formal Steps The unionization process begins by one of three ways, including: initiated by a group or
employees of the firm, second, initiated by a national union targeting the firm, or last, companies
invite unions to organize their workers. In the film Norma Rae, the second circumstance took place,
where a national union targeted the O.P Henley Mill. Ruben, who is a union organizer started the
formal process through step one which is identify and recruit employees. He provided communication
pieces to the employees. Ruben would stand outside and give pamphlets regarding how a union could
assist the employees. He also had flyers on bulletin boards within the organization, although they were
being posted in a way that was nearly impossible for one to see. There was communication going
around that gathered people to the church, there at the church Ruben told a story of loss, which

The Ego and Despair in Ordinary People
Ordinary People by Judith Guest is the story of a dysfunctional family who relate to one another

middle class Beth and Calvin Jarrett, home after eight months in a psychiatric hospital, there because
he had attempted suicide by slashing his wrists. His mother is a meticulously orderly person who,

It keeps resurfacing. Won t leave you alone. Conrad s slow but steady journey towards healing seems
partially the result of cathartic revelations which purge guilt feelings regarding his brother s death and
his family s denial of that death, plus the love of a good woman. Jeannine, who sings soprano to
Conrad s tenor... There is no doubt that Conrad is consumed with guilt, the feeling one has when one
acts contrary to a role he has assumed while interacting with a significant person in his life, This guilt
engenders in Conrad feelings of low self esteem. Survivors of horrible tragedies, such as the
Holocaust, frequently express similar feelings of worthlessness. In his book, Against All Odds ,
William Helmreich relates how one survivor articulates a feeling of abandonment. Did I abandon
them, or did they abandon me? Conrad expresses a similar thought in remembering the sequence of
events when the sailboat they were on turned over. Buck soothes Conrad saying, Okay, okay. They ll
be looking now, for sure, just hang on, don t get tired, promise? In an imagined conversation with his
dead brother, Conrad asks, Man, why d you let go? Because I got tired. The hell! You never get tired,

At first we couldn t rejected the null hypothesis because result from table 1 shows that only two
variables were stationary at level while four variables became stationary at first difference and the
result gives us the strong proof of unit root in the variables. Therefore all variables were tested at first
difference and the ADF test make known that all the variables became stationary at first difference,
therefore, the null hypothesis at first difference of unit root were rejected so we concluded by saying
that the variables became stationary after first difference. Which means that the variables are co
integrated of order one I(1), and this give us the chance to performed co integration analysis. From the
result, we realized that international trade in Liberia more than decades has produced a very little
significant impact on economic growth. As a result, the viewpoint of the economy as of (1980 2014) is

Hong Kong Disneyland
1. How would you value the Hong Kong Disneyland project from the perspective of Walt Disney?
The valuation of Hong Kong Disneyland from the perspective of Walt Disney is done by taking the
following assumptions:
Cost of Capital = 9.52%
Cost of Government Debt = 8.19%
Cost of Commercial Bank Debt = 11.36%
Cost of Equity = 12.3% (10 year average)
Inflation = 7.31% (10 year average)
Gross margin = 37%
Operating Cost = 22%
Variable Management Fee = 5%
With the above assumptions the FCF of the project and the Royalties that Walt Disney would get were
calculated by projecting the Cash Flows till 25 years.
The NPV of the project was found to be HKD1774million and the revenues to Walt Disney are
HKD3834.51million.

6. Should the Government pay to lure Disney to Hong Kong? If so, at what price?
From the assessment of additional benefits by way of increased spending of tourists as well increased
number of tourists, the economy is getting an additional HKD 540 billion from this venture. Apart
from this there are employment opportunities that are created directly and indirectly.
Disney inturn is asking for free land as well as tax benefits in line with its earlier theme parks at Paris
and Tokyo. Land premium to be charged by the Government is HKD 4 billion and the tax holiday for
10 years comes to HKD 363 million. Weighing the costs and benefits to the Government and economy
as a whole, the Government can provide both the benefits asked by Disney. However due to the high
political risk associated with providing free land, the Govt. can atleast provide tax breaks.
Hence it is advisable to the Government to lure Disney with the tax breaks the company has

Social Science
According to the dictionary of Merriam Webster, Objective is defined as expressing or dealing with
facts or conditions as perceived without distortion by personal feelings, prejudices, or interpretations .
And the Cambridge Dictionary has the similar definition: based on real facts and not influenced by
personal beliefs or feelings. It is obvious that to be objective, personal opinions on the research
question or hypothesis have to be eliminated in the research design, research process and report
method.
It is the aim of any kind of research to be objective, which means the result can show more effective
information and can be generalized to more situations. Almost all the books about social science

Conflict research may be conducted all over the world, but more literatures can be found are written in
English by Western researchers. When the Eastern researchers try to carry out research on a certain
topic after reading the western literatures, and found the results are different from the published
literatures, he or she may try to modify the research results in order to be approved by the academic
societies. However, the differences between research results may be caused by cultural background,
which can show the differences between East and West.
Limitation of repeated experiment
Stemwedel (2011) discusses the importance of teamwork to avoid the subjectivity in research. She
believes the peer review and repeated experiment should be effective to make the research more
objective. The peer review and communicate between colleagues are easy to reach. But the social
science research is not scientific research, such as physics, which we can measure the length several
times on certain object, and get the average as the most accurate length of it. Social science research is
affected by a lot of factors, and the errors or subjectivity of studies can hardly be eliminated.
For instance, it is hard to repeat some

The Role Of Faith In The Screwtape Letters By C. S. Lewis
In the novel The Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis depicts how Christians have strong reason and faith.
These letters are used to contradict the bible as if god is satin and satin is god. Within the letters, the
patient is supposed to be a Christian man that is being used in an experiment for the dark side.
However, the patient resisted the temptations that the devil threw at him, and is able to beat the devil
by having faith. This is a strong point that the narrator illustrates, because Screwtape is considered like
a devil who is trying to influence his incompetent nephew, Wormwood. Screwtape is very wise, very
subtle and very experienced, his nephew is a less than stellar student when it comes to swaying a

It allows the patient to imagine that he is not being gluttonous for example only accepting small
amounts of food, he becomes sensual. This sin is cleverly masked by the small portions of food that
are involved. In addition, when the patient says, for example, All I want is a cup of tea... and the
teeniest bit of really crispy toast, the sin of greed is horrible and most of the time unnoticeable when
committed, because it is used to obtain exactly what one wants at any means necessary (Screwtape
88). Also, being picky is a way of hassling to others as it asks them to go out of their way in order to
make something perfect. Moreover, it could jeopardize friendships because perfection can never be
attained, and the disappointment of not getting their way could result in ill tempers toward others.
Furthermore, while gluttony of delicacy may be different than the sin of gluttony, of excess, it
produces querulousness, impatience, uncharitableness, and self concern, counteracting the attempt to
avoid sin in the first place (Screwtape ch17). Screwtape shows subtlety in encouraging gluttony of

society was well off during this time period. With new forms of mass media and advertising, people
were under the impression that the stock market was booming and that the economy was doing well.
However, the 1920s actually brought about many hard times for unemployed workers and struggling

This is mainly because children at a young age are more field dependent (global) than field
independent (analytical) (Schunk, 2016). Therefore, field independent students are characterized as
being motivated in everything they do, without needing the group approach to encourage themselves
to work cooperatively. Moreover, they show interest in the tasks presented to them by the teacher
without feeling the need to consult the teacher or their peers. The familiarity of the subject is seen
through their understanding prior carrying out the task, which makes the students cognitively ready for
new challenges in their education. This is one important factor that teachers need to consider and
evaluate before giving out the tasks to the students, as sometimes they might doubt and mistreat their
abilities, offering the students no challenges in the activities. However, during several lessons students
are often seen to work in groups to achieve the same goal, thus referring to one another for new ideas
and solutions. This social interaction promotes understanding amongst the students themselves, and
their teacher. Schunk (2016), confirms that field dependent learners seem sensitive to teacher praise
and criticism . Finally, to accommodate all students present in the classroom, the educator is to

Identity Is A Bynamic Process Of Identity And Social Identity
An individual s identity is a continual and dynamic process of narration in which both the individual
and social partners are involved in formulating, editing, applauding, and refusing various elements of
the ever produced narrative (Humphreys Brown, 2002). It is internalized and revised from a person s
selective appropriation of past, present, and future through introspection and interaction with social
partners to create and maintain a coherent personal story (Miscenko Day, 2015). There are multiple
levels of identity that an individual may hold, and these levels interact and contribute to the way a
person defines themselves. A social identity forms when an individual ties his or her self concept to a
collective or role (Ashforth, Harrison, Corley, 2008). A social identity is one that is shared by
members and distinguished by groups, and members define themselves and enable others to define
them based on the groups to which they belong (Miscenko Day, 2015). A person s social identity
relates to their sense of self worth, as people attach positive value to their identities (Miscenko Day,
2015). An individual uses their social identity to affirm their self concept through their social peers,
seeking confirmation by expressing identity relevant behavior central to role definition (Miscenko
Day, 2015). Social identities are also used for self enhancement by confirming both positive and
negative aspects of identity and striving to promote only

The Oresteia
Instead of saying The Oresteia is a tragic trilogy that many people are killed, it would be more
appropriate to generalize it as the extension and the termination of vendetta. Even though Oresteia
doesn t cover the origin of the whole feud of the twins, Atreus and Thyestes, the whole trilogy never
digresses from the main theme: revenge. As the first observable vendetta in the trilogy, Clytemnestra s
revenge to Agamemnon is dramatic and thought provoking with the specialty of her role in her family
and her reasons to kill Agamemnon in the story.
For the mariticide in Agamemnon, reflecting Clytemnestra s attitude to Agamemnon is way more
significant than marking as the first murdering in the trilogy. From line 1521 to 1564, we may

In today s ethic, we may condemn everyone who murders his family members no matter who they are.
But in pre modern society, people normally rebuke and disdain those who murders his/her bloodlines
because it is a betrayal to their parents or their own blood. In line 1529, Clytemnestra describes
Agamemnon s bloodline killing and his death that with the sword he struck; with the sword he paid for
his own act. This indicates another reason that Clytemnestra murders Agamemnon: to punish those
who betrayed their bloodlines. Since Iphigeneia is the daughter of both Agamemnon and
Clytemnestra, killing Agamemnon is definitely reasonable to Clytemnestra. Nevertheless,
Clytemnestra is also the member of Agamemnon family, what will people think if she murders her
husband? People might not judge the murderer in the mariticide or uxoricide as heavy as those murder
the bloodlines because sexual partners don t share the blood from the same parents during pre modern
period. In a way, mariticide and uxoricide are totally same as the normal murdering. Thus, we may see
the Chorus is unable to condemn Clytemnestra for betraying her husband and Make lamentation,
render the graceless grace to his soul for huge things done in wickedness? (1544) is the most they may

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy ( Rebt ) Foundation
Introduction
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) foundation says that the way people make assumptions
about themselves and the world around them influences their emotions and behavior. (McLeod, 2008)
Sometimes these assumptions may impact people negatively because they are not rational ways to
view aspects of life. The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of what REBT is, its obstacles,
how to deal with those obstacles, and the effectiveness of this therapy.
History
REBT was developed by Albert Ellis in 1955. (Wilson, 2014) Ellis did not agree with conventional
ways of psychoanalysis because, to him, they were superficial and unscientific. (Wilson, 2014) Ellis
then combined a therapy that had humanistic, cognitive, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

frustration tolerance belief that says, It s difficult to face being disapproved of at school, but I can
tolerate it. (Wilson, 2014) Lastly, the fourth rational belief is the acceptance belief. For example: I can
accept myself if I am disapproved by my peers at school. These were all examples of Ellis rational

The first irrational belief is called the rigid demands and an example of it would be I must be liked at

Analysis Of Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Battle Of...
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born on March 6, 1806, at Coxhoe Hall, Durham, England, daughter
Mary Graham and Edward Moulton Barrett. They made their wealth from a Jamaican sugar plantation.
Elizabeth was the oldest of eleven siblings. She was educated at home which leads her to write at a
very young age. By the age of fourteen her very first book was published, The Battle of Marathon,
which her father released privately. Browning had many of her works published but in eighteen forty
four her collection titled Poems was published. These poems caught the attention of English poet
Robert Browning. Robert wrote to Elizabeth a letter, they both exchanged numerous letters over the
following months, this lead to their elopement in eighteen forty six. On eighteen fifty, she released
Sonnets from the Portuguese, it is a collection of forty four love sonnets that became one of the
greatest sequences of sonnets in history. The collection was dedicated to her loving husband and was
also written in secret during their courtship. Aurora Leigh was published in eighteen fifty six, this was
her longest work, this was a blank verse novel and poem. Elizabeth Barrett Browning died on June

The Pros And Cons Of Bioethics
In healthcare, bioethics is studied to improve patient outcomes and treatment. Research is conducted
by bioethicists on ethical, social, and legal issues that have come about in biomedicine (National
Institute of Health). Since the beginning of time, much knowledge has been gained through
experimentation. Healthcare is an everchanging field in which experimentation is a key aspect. Some
research can be done without using humans as test subjects, however, others must be tested on
humans. The primary purpose of medical research involving human subjects is to understand the
causes, development and effects or diseases and improve preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic
interventions (World Medical Association). Accordingly, there are fundamental boundaries that should
be respected, relating to the principles of beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice. The
World Medical Association (WMA) originally adopted the Declaration of Helsinki in 1964, which
protects the ethical principles involving human subjects. It serves as a statement of ethical principles
for medical research involving human subjects, as well as research on discernable human substance
and data. The document provides guidelines to ensure that the life, well being, dignity, integrity,
privacy, autonomy, and confidentiality of subjects are protected (WMA). Though the declaration is not
a legal document, it has been integrated into laws governing medical research across the world. Before

Finally, the butterfly hangs from the pupa about two hours while the wings dry (Emmel, 1999).
Monarchs do not have many predators expect for man. The monarch s trick to not being eating it two
hold. First, the coloring of the monarch mimics that of a wasp or a bee which makes predators think
twice before trying to eat them. Second, the milkweed plant in which the caterpillar eats has toxins
which make the wings of the butterfly distasteful to predators. The monarch butterfly drinks nectar
while the caterpillar eats the milkweed. The monarch favorite food here in Florida is Asclepias ssp. or
milkweed (Wexler, 1994). The migrating of monarch is because of the harsh conditions on the
northern US. They move south from areas of southern Canada and most of the US to a few sites in
Mexico (Grzimek s, 2003). They migrate itself usually takes three to four generations of monarchs
(Clattenburg, 2004). Scientists do not know why they migrate, but there are different theories. The
first theory is the change of light in fall (Clattenburg, 2004). While others scientists claim the
monarchs have a chemical in their bodies in which they are attracted to Mexico where the congregate
in certain trees (Clattenburg, 2004). The latter does not explain why monarchs stay in Southern
Florida as permanent residents (Emmel, 1999). Three different things are endangering the monarch
butterfly. First, is the deforestation of Mexico. Through

West Nile Virus
West Nile Virus is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system of vertebrates, such as
humans and horses. The virus is able to quickly replicate and spread throughout the body. In humans,
those that are at most risk are those who are elderly and those who are immunocompromised. In
horses, those that are at most risk are unvaccinated adults or older horses. Although a vast majority of
infected humans and horses present no signs of disease, if clinical signs develop, oftentimes they
include flu like symptoms, such as a fever, and neurological symptoms, such as convulsions or
seizures, as the disease progressively worsens. Through research and observation it has been shown
that West Nile Virus affects both humans and horses in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Tonya Colpitts and associates, through some research it has shown that the virus has the
ability to infect macrophages, which help facilitate the virus across the blood brain barrier where it can
then begin causing neurological symptoms (Colpitts 5). Yet, according to the article written by Emilie
Donadieu and colleagues, the mechanisms by which West Nile Virus enters the central nervous system
is not fully understood (Donadieu 9). Not enough research has been done to confirm the hypothesis
that it is most likely that the virus affects the central nervous system via the blood brain barrier, which
helps to protect the brain from pathogens and being exposed to immune mediation or activation
(Donadieu 9 10). I it is known however, that once the virus crosses the blood brain barrier it leads to
neuronal death via lesions on the brain (Donadieu 6). Neurological symptoms seem to develop more
frequently in horses than in humans. According to the article written by Antoine Garwah, 1 in 150
infected people develop severe symptoms of the virus, which include but are not limited to: high fever,
headache, stupor, tremors, seizures or convulsions, and paralysis (Garwah 2). Meanwhile, according to
the Merck Manual article, West Nile Encephalomyelitis in Horses, approximately 10 39% of infected
horses show signs and the neurological signs

Frankenstein As A Bildungsroman And The Way That People
Greg Repa
Dr. Arpaia
History 307
12 September 2015
Frankenstein
Within the first few years of life, babies gain a sense of self awareness. They start to realize that they
are different from the objects and people around them physically. There are many ways that people
can feel a sense of self identity or association within a group. People could identify themselves as
something small, like the town they are from or the school they attend. Or they could identify as a
bigger group of people like their religious beliefs and nationality. This paper will look at Frankenstein
as a Bildungsroman and the way that people in Europe during the nineteenth century could gain
knowledge and a view of self awareness and how people gain knowledge today. One thing that is
fascinating is that the nameless monster in the book is actually the Frankenstein that people tend to
think of, with the big square green head, whereas, his creator s last name is actually Frankenstein. This
is important because as the book progresses, the reader gets a sense that maybe the monster and his
creator, are not so different after all. Although Victor (the creator) was born with a family and has
friends, he distances himself from them when he finds his love for science. They also both try to help
humanity at first but then they both feel depressed and remorse from the recent past. They also both
use the weather and nature to indicate their mood and feelings. When it is nice outside he is hopeful

A Comparison Of The Bachelor And The Bachelorette Franchise
If there was a topic that I was an expert in, it would be The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchise,
and that is exactly what it is, a franchise. I have watched the shows since I was a little girl, I remember
watching them with my mother at a young age and now I watch them with my friends. I have not
watched every season, but I have watched a plenty. Many people do watch the show for entertainment
or so they believe, but studies have shown that it perpetrates the way that people think about love and
life. Although, they do get entertainment from it, often people will leave the show feeling entertained,
amused, cheered up, or stimulated. (ARTICLE)
Some background information on the show, The Bachelorette; it is based off of the show The
Bachelor. The concept of the show centers around one woman finding love within a group of 25
suitors. A season typically only lasts 7 or 8 episodes, which is normally filmed over a span of 3
months. The first episode is primarily introducing the different men to the woman, with her only
learning their names and a few things about each of them. Throughout the middle of the season, she
will go on group dates and individual dates with all of the men. Each week she gives out roses to the
men that she would like to keep around and further develop relationships with. In the last episode,
there are 2 men remaining. They will meet her family and go on one final date. On the last day, she
will be standing in a beautiful destination

Pros And Cons Of Tankless Water Heaters
A tankless water heater can be a wonderful addition to a home. Instead of continuously storing hot
water, tankless units heat the water when the faucet is turned on. These units are also referred to as on
demand, or instantaneous water heaters. However, this type of water heater is not for everyone. Take a
look at the pros and cons of an on demand water heater to decide if this kind of water heater is right
for you.
Pros and Cons of an On Demand Water Heater
Pros
On demand water heaters are more energy efficient than conventional water heaters. The Department
of Energy states that for homes that use no more than 41 gallons of hot water a day a tankless water
heater can be up to 34 percent more efficient than a traditional water heater. In ... Show more content

Replacing parts on an instantaneous unit is easy, which extends the life of the unit even more.
Cons
The upfront cost of the unit.
Tankless water heater installation is expensive.
Due to its high powered burners, special venting systems are necessary with on demand water heaters.
Units that operate on natural gas frequently need a larger diameter gas pipe, which increases the cost
of installation.
Smaller units cannot produce the amount of hot water needed in most households. These smaller units
can only serve one faucet at a time.
Larger tankless units have the ability to provide sufficient water for an entire family. However, these
units are much more expensive than the smaller units are.
If an on demand water heater turns off following a task and you turn the hot water back on a few
minutes later, you may experience a cold water sandwich. The hot water that remained in the piping
after the first task will flow out and then cold water flows past the water heater before the unit is
triggered to turn back on (Hot Cold

My Third Latino Monologue
My monologue was an excerpt from the book My Third Latino Monologue Book: Finding Your Voice!
by M.Ramirez. It was a monologue from the perspective of Angelique who is telling her experiences
of going to an acting class and the frustrations that she had with her instructor and that he had with
getting her name right. The book is not a narrative, but it is a compilation of monologues put together
for young children and teens to use for things like school and acting classes. Since the monologue is
not part of a bigger plot, it was hard to fully understand the history and character of Angelique, but I
was able to use the monologue alone to infer and understanding about her character. To prepare for my
monologue, the first thing that I did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would consider my pacing and pauses to be my biggest weaknesses in any public speaking, but
especially during this monologue. I could have paused a lot more since the character of Angelique was
not meant to be rushing through her rant. While I wasn t happy with my pacing and pauses I think my
strengths were eye contact and volume. I took a lot of time to memorize my monologue and tried not
to look at my paper too much and focus more on looking at my audience. My volume was another
strength that I had during my monologue. I naturally am a loud person so it was something that I didn
t really have to think about, but I did notice that during other people s monologues it was hard to hear
and I m glad that I was loud enough to not only get my point across, but for everyone to hear me.
From my monologue and the ones that I watched, the biggest thing I learned was that pacing is very
important even if you are nervous and want to be done. A lot of people including myself rushed
through their performances and ended up stumbling over their words or running out of breath and it
made the monologues less effective than they should have been. I also noticed that a lot of people
either stood completely still or were swaying. It was hard for a lot of people to understand what to do
with their bodies and they probably felt uncomfortable, but not only is it

History of Calculus Essay
History of Calculus
The history of calculus falls into several distinct time periods, most notably the ancient, medieval, and
modern periods. The ancient period introduced some of the ideas of integral calculus, but does not
seem to have developed these ideas in a rigorous or systematic way. Calculating volumes and areas,
the basic function of integral calculus, can be traced back to the Egyptian Moscow papyrus (c. 1800
BC), in which an Egyptian successfully calculated the volume of a pyramidal frustum.[1][2] From the
school of Greek mathematics, Eudoxus (c. 408 #8722;355 BC) used the method of exhaustion, which
prefigures the concept of the limit, to calculate areas and volumes while Archimedes (c. 287
#8722;212 BC) developed this idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Europe, the second half of the 17th century was a time of major innovation. Calculus provided a
new opportunity in mathematical physics to solve long standing problems. Several mathematicians
contributed to these breakthroughs, notably John Wallis and Isaac Barrow. James Gregory proved a
special case of the second fundamental theorem of calculus in AD 1668.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished
works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished
works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus.
Leibniz and Newton pulled these ideas together into a coherent whole and they are usually credited
with the independent and nearly simultaneous invention of calculus. Newton was the first to apply
calculus to general physics and Leibniz developed much of the notation used in calculus today; he
often spent days determining appropriate symbols for concepts. The basic insight that both Newton
and Leibniz had was the fundamental theorem of calculus.
When Newton and Leibniz first published their results, there was great

Adult Opposition Theory
Murder is a disturbing crime that shocks people when it occurs, however it s more disturbing to think
that a child is capable of such a violent and atrocious act. It is often very hard to imagine that a young
child can be the source of such extreme violence and act in such an extreme manner. We as adults may
not always be able to understand why they commit delinquent acts, or exhibit extremely violent and
even commit a heinous crime such as murder. Psychological theories are able to give us some
understanding of why these things happen and understanding what drives a juvenile to engage in
criminal behavior may be able to ultimately help prevent further delinquency or delinquent behavior
taken into account the various factors that are involved. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also possible that if his parents were able to figure out the cause of what caused his actions that
they would have been able to help him in some way. We can t always know what is happening, but
even Josh s father admits he could have handled certain situations differently. This just goes to show
that children will react to situations in whatever ways they feel are necessary. Sometimes is it hard to
explain why a juvenile takes to delinquency due to the high numbers of factors that comes into play,
and what causes them to act the way they do. The best thing we can do for juveniles is to help them in
any way that fits their unique circumstances and try to show them that there are positive outlets for
their anger and frustrations and positive ways of expressing

  • 2. Essay On Rhetoric Reflection In college, we get asked to write enough papers to fill a book, and all those papers start off as drafts where they must be edited and corrected before turning them in as the final draft. This process is particularly interesting to see how one can improve their work. Analyzing a paper to see the ways in which information is portrayed and relayed to the reader is vital to the writing process. In this paper, I will be examining a previous assignment from a former English course. To analyze the paper thoroughly, I will be looking at the rhetoric used within and its effectiveness, along with the mistakes that lie within the paper. I will critique my work and suggest ways to correct errors, or applaud attributes within that were well done. My freshman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I used many tools to pull on the heartstrings of my audience. I used personal experience, certain events that take place, and reflections on how things can turn out whether they are good or bad, in both relationships, or on a roller coaster that are relatable to the reader. An example of this from my paper shows the ethos very nicely; Do you remember the first time you fell in love? How about the first time you got on a roller coaster? These two first times seem to have a lot in common, but they also have some interesting differences. The first time a person does either of these things it can be scary as well as thrilling. Imagine a teenage girl being asked out for the first time, and that same teenage girl getting on a huge roller coaster. She would most likely be scared and unsure about both, and predicting outcomes in her head. All a person tends to think about is the drop. This example can be an example for almost any person. The first time a person gets on a roller coaster it is scary or nerve racking. The same can be said for the first time you fall in love. Throughout that entire excerpt, the reader can experience possible flashbacks to previous personal experiences. The relatable factor that ethos gives a paper is essential in really getting your reader interested in what they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The World s First Debate On Morality In 11th Century, The Spanish Empire sent men to conquer the Americas and they discovered natives in the area. As a result of their interactions with the natives, a debate as to how they should treat or interact with the natives got to a boiling point, and was settled in a debate in Valladolid in 1550, with two men defending either side of the world s first debate on morality. One of these men was Bartolomé de las Casas, a Dominican Catholic friar who spent some time with the American Natives, and debated to defend them against any harsh rule or handling by the hands of the Spanish. On the other end was Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, an Aristotelian philosopher, argued for the enslavement of these natives due to the superiority of the Spanish over them. They both held strong convictions about their arguments, however Las Casas argument was made more effectively because he was more rational in his argument. Alternatively, Sepúlveda chose an exaggerated appeal to emotions as his approach for the argument he was making. Sepúlveda appeals to emotion in a variety of ways one of them being exaggerated language. In the beginning of his Treatise on the Just Causes of War against the Indians , he asked, what moderation or mildness can you expect of men who are given to all kinds of intemperance and wicked lusts, and who eat human flesh? In the case of fruits and vegetables, Whole Foods has buying relationships with local farmers who supply the store with seasonal produce. Thus, if one farmer is unable to produce a sufficient amount of yellow corn or heirloom tomatoes, the shortfall can be made up by another farmer. • 9. Speak, Memory by Vladamir Nabokov To some degree, every artist creates his or her own artistic life preserver, and in doing so resequences and conserves their own artistic DNA so that it may be transferred onto another generation. Vladimir Nabokov s memoir Speak, Memory, is not only that preserver, but the tug boat that it holds onto, heavy and cramped with the memories and history that Nabokov retells his readers against the currents of time. Speak, Memory operates thematically, not chronologically. Nabokov returns anew to his early childhood and pulls in, as it were, the memories associated with certain themes. Then he turns, changes directions, and sets off again. One such theme that resonates throughout the novel is that of exile and deteterritorialization, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (79) Even early on in his childhood, Nobokov found those comfortable products of Anglo Saxon civilization as nothing more than useful necessities. The extinct tradition learning that is taken on by him is private multilingual tutorship, even if now it seems like a very pluralistic one as it included both Russian, English and French at the same time. It is this because of this multilingual education that Nabokov encounters less wonder in terms of cultural conflicts that usually plights other exiles. Nabokov s traditional aristocratic background accentuates many of his experiences abroad, he internalizes spiritual deteterritorialization and finds enjoyment within it. But it is also this spiritual deterritorialization that follows Nabokov throughout his life that makes his account of his life seem more artistic and disconnected, even if there is a profound emotional impact on the reader in the end. While some moments in his life might evoke sympathy, like his retelling of his father s death, or make readers to take a side, such as the incident with Nesbit during his time in Cambridge, Nabokov keeps the reader at a distance by concealing his feelings in rhetoric. An example of this is the short biography (173) of his father. Using vivid details to describe his father, one can feel the spiritual resonance the experience had on Nabokov. If the intake system from sucks in water the engine is likely to seize up and that means time for a new motor, a good way to prevent this from happening is to install a snorkel system that will allow the intake to breathe in fresh air. If the snorkel system is out of the question, another alternative is to modify the intake to receive air from inside the cab of the rig. Along with adding a breather system, another consideration is securing the radiator. A lot of owners move their radiator to the back of the rig to prevent damage. When they do this they connect an electric fan to prevent overheating, this also prevents the fan from being pushed into the radiator. Although physical torture is now illegal, it does not stop police from using other methods of psychological deception. One of the most popular methods is showing the suspect falsified or fabricated evidence, otherwise known as a false evidence ploy (FEP). There are three categories: demeanor, testimonial and scientific. A study done in 2007 showed that ninety two percent of a sample of 631 policemen used FEPs to gain a confession (Forrest, 2012). Demeanor FEPs are characterized by the behavior of the suspect and using those assumptions to determine whether or not he or she is guilty. Sayings such as We can tell the way you re acting that you are not innocent and You don t seemed surprised or sad that he is dead show that detectives and police use the suspects appearance and behavior to specify guilt, even though there is no evidence proving it. Testimonial FEPs are one of the most common and consist of eyewitnesses, video surveillance or a co conspirator that puts them at the place and time of the crime. In 2009 Nash and Wade conducted a study showing the power behind this kind of FEP. All of the participants signed and admission of guilt when viewing a falsified video recording or even the threat that there might be incriminating evidence. Identity Is A Bynamic Process Of Identity And Social Identity An individual s identity is a continual and dynamic process of narration in which both the individual and social partners are involved in formulating, editing, applauding, and refusing various elements of the ever produced narrative (Humphreys Brown, 2002). It is internalized and revised from a person s selective appropriation of past, present, and future through introspection and interaction with social partners to create and maintain a coherent personal story (Miscenko Day, 2015). Accordingly, there are fundamental boundaries that should be respected, relating to the principles of beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice. The World Medical Association (WMA) originally adopted the Declaration of Helsinki in 1964, which protects the ethical principles involving human subjects. It serves as a statement of ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects, as well as research on discernable human substance and data. The document provides guidelines to ensure that the life, well being, dignity, integrity, privacy, autonomy, and confidentiality of subjects are protected (WMA). Though the declaration is not a legal document, it has been integrated into laws governing medical research across the world. Before a research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Monarch Butterfly Essay The monarch butterfly, as known as Danaus plexippus, is often called the milkweed butterfly because its larvae eat the milkweed plant. They are also sometimes called royalty butterflies because their family name comes from the daughter of Danaus, ruler of Argos. There are many other interesting facts about this butterfly including its anatomy and life cycle, where the butterfly lies on the food chain, the migration from Canada to Mexico, why the butterfly is being threatened, and lastly, what is being done to help the butterfly. The anatomy of the monarch starts with it coloring. The monarch butterfly is bright orange with a white spots in a black margin around the edges. The veins on the wings are also black. The caterpillar is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, the butterfly hangs from the pupa about two hours while the wings dry (Emmel, 1999). Monarchs do not have many predators expect for man. The monarch s trick to not being eating it two hold. First, the coloring of the monarch mimics that of a wasp or a bee which makes predators think twice before trying to eat them. Second, the milkweed plant in which the caterpillar eats has toxins which make the wings of the butterfly distasteful to predators. The monarch butterfly drinks nectar while the caterpillar eats the milkweed. The monarch favorite food here in Florida is Asclepias ssp. or milkweed (Wexler, 1994). The migrating of monarch is because of the harsh conditions on the northern US. They move south from areas of southern Canada and most of the US to a few sites in Mexico (Grzimek s, 2003). They migrate itself usually takes three to four generations of monarchs (Clattenburg, 2004). Scientists do not know why they migrate, but there are different theories. The first theory is the change of light in fall (Clattenburg, 2004). While others scientists claim the monarchs have a chemical in their bodies in which they are attracted to Mexico where the congregate in certain trees (Clattenburg, 2004). The latter does not explain why monarchs stay in Southern Florida as permanent residents (Emmel, 1999). Three different things are endangering the monarch butterfly. First, is the deforestation of Mexico. Through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. West Nile Virus West Nile Virus is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system of vertebrates, such as humans and horses. The virus is able to quickly replicate and spread throughout the body. In humans, those that are at most risk are those who are elderly and those who are immunocompromised. In horses, those that are at most risk are unvaccinated adults or older horses. Although a vast majority of infected humans and horses present no signs of disease, if clinical signs develop, oftentimes they include flu like symptoms, such as a fever, and neurological symptoms, such as convulsions or seizures, as the disease progressively worsens. Through research and observation it has been shown that West Nile Virus affects both humans and horses in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Tonya Colpitts and associates, through some research it has shown that the virus has the ability to infect macrophages, which help facilitate the virus across the blood brain barrier where it can then begin causing neurological symptoms (Colpitts 5). Yet, according to the article written by Emilie Donadieu and colleagues, the mechanisms by which West Nile Virus enters the central nervous system is not fully understood (Donadieu 9). Not enough research has been done to confirm the hypothesis that it is most likely that the virus affects the central nervous system via the blood brain barrier, which helps to protect the brain from pathogens and being exposed to immune mediation or activation (Donadieu 9 10). I it is known however, that once the virus crosses the blood brain barrier it leads to neuronal death via lesions on the brain (Donadieu 6). Neurological symptoms seem to develop more frequently in horses than in humans. According to the article written by Antoine Garwah, 1 in 150 infected people develop severe symptoms of the virus, which include but are not limited to: high fever, headache, stupor, tremors, seizures or convulsions, and paralysis (Garwah 2). Meanwhile, according to the Merck Manual article, West Nile Encephalomyelitis in Horses, approximately 10 39% of infected horses show signs and the neurological signs ... • 40. Frankenstein As A Bildungsroman And The Way That People Greg Repa Dr. Arpaia History 307 12 September 2015 Frankenstein Within the first few years of life, babies gain a sense of self awareness. They start to realize that they are different from the objects and people around them physically. There are many ways that people can feel a sense of self identity or association within a group. People could identify themselves as something small, like the town they are from or the school they attend. Or they could identify as a bigger group of people like their religious beliefs and nationality. This paper will look at Frankenstein as a Bildungsroman and the way that people in Europe during the nineteenth century could gain knowledge and a view of self awareness and how people gain knowledge today. One thing that is fascinating is that the nameless monster in the book is actually the Frankenstein that people tend to think of, with the big square green head, whereas, his creator s last name is actually Frankenstein. This is important because as the book progresses, the reader gets a sense that maybe the monster and his creator, are not so different after all. Although Victor (the creator) was born with a family and has friends, he distances himself from them when he finds his love for science. They also both try to help humanity at first but then they both feel depressed and remorse from the recent past. They also both use the weather and nature to indicate their mood and feelings. When it is nice outside he is hopeful and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Comparison Of The Bachelor And The Bachelorette Franchise If there was a topic that I was an expert in, it would be The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchise, and that is exactly what it is, a franchise. I have watched the shows since I was a little girl, I remember watching them with my mother at a young age and now I watch them with my friends. I have not watched every season, but I have watched a plenty. Many people do watch the show for entertainment or so they believe, but studies have shown that it perpetrates the way that people think about love and life. Although, they do get entertainment from it, often people will leave the show feeling entertained, amused, cheered up, or stimulated. (ARTICLE) Some background information on the show, The Bachelorette; it is based off of the show The Bachelor. The concept of the show centers around one woman finding love within a group of 25 suitors. A season typically only lasts 7 or 8 episodes, which is normally filmed over a span of 3 months. Throughout the middle of the season, she will go on group dates and individual dates with all of the men. Each week she gives out roses to the men that she would like to keep around and further develop relationships with. In the last episode, there are 2 men remaining. • 42. Pros And Cons Of Tankless Water Heaters A tankless water heater can be a wonderful addition to a home. Instead of continuously storing hot water, tankless units heat the water when the faucet is turned on. These units are also referred to as on demand, or instantaneous water heaters. However, this type of water heater is not for everyone. Take a look at the pros and cons of an on demand water heater to decide if this kind of water heater is right for you. Pros and Cons of an On Demand Water Heater Pros On demand water heaters are more energy efficient than conventional water heaters. The Department of Energy states that for homes that use no more than 41 gallons of hot water a day a tankless water heater can be up to 34 percent more efficient than a traditional water heater. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Replacing parts on an instantaneous unit is easy, which extends the life of the unit even more. Cons The upfront cost of the unit. Tankless water heater installation is expensive. Due to its high powered burners, special venting systems are necessary with on demand water heaters. Units that operate on natural gas frequently need a larger diameter gas pipe, which increases the cost of installation. Smaller units cannot produce the amount of hot water needed in most households. These smaller units can only serve one faucet at a time. Larger tankless units have the ability to provide sufficient water for an entire family. However, these units are much more expensive than the smaller units are. If an on demand water heater turns off following a task and you turn the hot water back on a few minutes later, you may experience a cold water sandwich. The hot water that remained in the piping after the first task will flow out and then cold water flows past the water heater before the unit is triggered to turn back on (Hot Cold ... • 43. My Third Latino Monologue My monologue was an excerpt from the book My Third Latino Monologue Book: Finding Your Voice! by M.Ramirez. It was a monologue from the perspective of Angelique who is telling her experiences of going to an acting class and the frustrations that she had with her instructor and that he had with getting her name right. The book is not a narrative, but it is a compilation of monologues put together for young children and teens to use for things like school and acting classes. Since the monologue is not part of a bigger plot, it was hard to fully understand the history and character of Angelique, but I was able to use the monologue alone to infer and understanding about her character. I would consider my pacing and pauses to be my biggest weaknesses in any public speaking, but especially during this monologue. I could have paused a lot more since the character of Angelique was not meant to be rushing through her rant. While I wasn t happy with my pacing and pauses I think my strengths were eye contact and volume. I took a lot of time to memorize my monologue and tried not to look at my paper too much and focus more on looking at my audience. My volume was another strength that I had during my monologue. I naturally am a loud person so it was something that I didn t really have to think about, but I did notice that during other people s monologues it was hard to hear and I m glad that I was loud enough to not only get my point across, but for everyone to hear me. From my monologue and the ones that I watched, the biggest thing I learned was that pacing is very important even if you are nervous and want to be done. A lot of people including myself rushed through their performances and ended up stumbling over their words or running out of breath and it made the monologues less effective than they should have been. I also noticed that a lot of people either stood completely still or were swaying. It was hard for a lot of people to understand what to do with their bodies and they probably felt uncomfortable, but not only is it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. History of Calculus Essay History of Calculus The history of calculus falls into several distinct time periods, most notably the ancient, medieval, and modern periods. The ancient period introduced some of the ideas of integral calculus, but does not seem to have developed these ideas in a rigorous or systematic way. Calculating volumes and areas, the basic function of integral calculus, can be traced back to the Egyptian Moscow papyrus (c. 1800 BC), in which an Egyptian successfully calculated the volume of a pyramidal frustum.[1][2] From the school of Greek mathematics, Eudoxus (c. 408 #8722;355 BC) used the method of exhaustion, which prefigures the concept of the limit, to calculate areas and volumes while Archimedes (c. 287 #8722;212 BC) developed this idea ... Calculus provided a new opportunity in mathematical physics to solve long standing problems. Several mathematicians contributed to these breakthroughs, notably John Wallis and Isaac Barrow. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus. Leibniz and Newton pulled these ideas together into a coherent whole and they are usually credited with the independent and nearly simultaneous invention of calculus. Newton was the first to apply calculus to general physics and Leibniz developed much of the notation used in calculus today; he often spent days determining appropriate symbols for concepts. The basic insight that both Newton and Leibniz had was the fundamental theorem of calculus. When Newton and Leibniz first published their results, there was great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is often very hard to imagine that a young child can be the source of such extreme violence and act in such an extreme manner. We as adults may not always be able to understand why they commit delinquent acts, or exhibit extremely violent and even commit a heinous crime such as murder.
