There Are Many Types Of Conditioning That People Used To
There are many types of conditioning that people used to learn things. The first type of condition
that we talk about in this paper is classical condition. The second type of conditioning is called
operant conditioning. And the last type of conditioning is vicarious conditioning / Observational
Learning. These are the 3 main types of conditioning that we use in are daily life.
Classical Conditioning
Classical conditioning is one of the most basic forms of learning that we use today. You can see it
being used in things like pet training to teaching kids how to do something. The term classical
conditioning means learning to elicit an involuntary, reflex like response to a stimulus other than
the original, natural stimulus that normally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Operant conditioning
Operant condition focus on how an organisms learns a response a voluntary responses and how
they can be guided though positive and negative reinforcement. Thorndike s puzzle box he place
a hungry cat inside a box with food on the outside. The only thing the cat had to do was press the
lever and escape to get the food. Though at first it took a while for the cat to get out but after
few trials with each getting faster. With the time getting fast and faster it was pretty safe so
assume the cat figure out a way to get out of the box was to push the lever. Which lead to the law
of effect if an action is followed by a pleasurable consequence, it will tend to be repeated
(Ciccarelli White, 2017 p.188). This is an example of positive reinforcement the cat escaping
from the box there is food to reward when it is successful. Here are the two kinds of
reinforcement there is positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement is when you add a reward
and negative reinforcement is the removal of a thing. We also have primary and secondary
enforcements that are a part of this as well. An example of would be when I go to work for
Meijer pushing carts I get reward with a paycheck once a week which is a second dairy
reinforcement. Money is a secondary reinforcement because you can use it to get other goods vs a
primary which you can use yourself like food and clothing. Another example of operant
conditioning that is a negative

The Human Of Human Cloning
1.INTRODUCTION
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. However, this term not
only refers to the entire artificial human, but also the reproduction of human cells and tissues. There
are two types of theoretical human cloning: reproductive cloning which would involve making an
entire cloned human and the other, therapeutic cloning, which would involve cloning cells from a
human for use in medicine and transplants by somatic cell nuclear transfer or pluripotent stem cell
induction. In reproductive cloning the entire genetic code is reproduced from a single body cell of
an adult individual. The most common cloning technique is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT).
The procedure is as follows:

iPSCs are typically derived by introducing products of specific sets of pluripotency associated
genes, or reprogramming factors , into a given cell type.
2.ISSUES
Although the human cloning seems fairly beneficial and useful for human welfare, the possibility
of human cloning has raised controversies. Concerning reproductive cloning, advocates believe that
parents who cannot otherwise procreate should have access to the technology. Some opponents
have concerns that technology is not yet developed enough to be safe while others emphasize that
reproductive cloning could be prone to abuse (leading to the generation of humans whose organs
and tissues would be harvested), and have concerns about how cloned individuals could integrate
with families and with society at large. With regards to therapeutic cloning, the problem is that
many attempts are often required to create a viable egg. The stability of the egg with the infused
somatic nucleus is poor and it can require hundreds of attempts before success is attained.
Therapeutic cloning does result in the destruction of an embryo after stem cells are extracted and
this destruction has stirred controversy over the morality of the procedure. Some argue that the pros
outweigh the cons with regards to treating disease and support development of therapeutic cloning
in order to generate tissues and whole

How Did Anne Moody Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
The abolishment of slavery in 1865 was only the beginning of a long, strenuous fight for African
American citizens in the United States. The abolition may have freed the slaves physically but did
not free them of the social injustices they had yet to endure. The African American civil rights
movement took place in 1954 through 1968. (history.com) The civil rights movement is described
as the struggle for social justice, a battle fought for blacks to be seen as equals under the laws of
the United states. Many people were involved in progressing the movement including but not
limited to Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcom X and Anne Moody. Throughout her lifetime
Anne Moody has had a major impact on the African AmericanCivil rights movement. Despite her
personal struggles, Moody used her life to promote the enlightenment and progression of African
American citizens. Moody s perseverance, hatred, and alienation contributed to her educational and
creative success as well as her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the novel, Coming of
age in Mississippi.
Essie Mae Moody also known as Anne Moody was born September 15, 1940 in Wilkerson
County Mississippi to Fred Moody and Elnire Davis. (briticanna.com) She was the eldest of nine.
After her parents divorced, Moody grew up with her mother nicknamed, Toosweet in Centreville

The Dangerous Life of a Squirrel in Autumn Essay
The sky is the color of cold stones as I cautiously make my way down the trunk of dying oak. The
few remaining leaves of the tree rustle as a light autumn morning breeze passes through them.
One of them is blown free, making a soft snapping sound as it breaks away from its anchored
brothers and begins to fall to the ground below. It twists and turns as it goes and I watch it in
momentary curiosity. I have seen this often before. It is still mostly green, only slightly
browning at the edges. It makes a show of falling, as though it knows it has an audience. It spins
and dances, carried across an unseen stage by the breeze. The breeze fades and dies and the leaf
follows shooting down quickly towards the earth like a predatory birding diving... Show more

I pause briefly between sprints to listen for sounds of predators, or simply to hear what the birds
are singing about today. I twitch my nose and catch the scent of pecans, acorns, and other forms
of nut within the area. They are my usual food source and are very scarce now that it is so close
to winter. I must act quickly or some rival animal will snatch them away. I take off as fast as
light in the direction of a particularly strong scent. My heart pounds in my chest so fast that it s
almost not beating at all. I can smell and hear my rivals as they race towards the scent as well. I am
quite certain there will be a fight on arrival. I prepare myself to win this race and the fight that
may follow. Yet, when I cross the span of the front yard of an old abandoned house I am attacked. I
cry out in fear and try to break free as sharp fangs sink into the delicate flesh of my bushy tail. I
scratch my paws over the ground, ripping out small bits of dying grass and pebbles. I hear a
guttural rumbling and glance back in horror as my eyes meet those of my captor. My captor is a
pampered gray house cat with the blue of the summer sky and the mischief of a devil in its
piercing gaze. It is well groomed with long fur and a purple band around its neck with a little bell
on it. I am paralyzed by the cat s gaze, unable to do anything more than stare back at it as my heart
beats overtime. The

West Wouve Essay
The date was December 13, 2016. We had a game in West Dubuque. We lost that game by 10
points. It was a bad loss and a game that we should have won. After the game a player on my
team was in the locker room. The varsity guys were in there too. By this time I had left with my
parents and heard about what happened in the locker room a couple days later. The varsity guys
put a couple of Western Dubuque women s practice jerseys in the freshman s bag. Later to be found
by him. Instead of going to the School and turning them in. He decided to keep them and hide them
in a sliding drawer. His parents found them and confronted him about them. They made him turn

We went 4 1 when he was gone with the loss being to Beckman Catholic High School. We had
beaten them earlier in the year and the reason we had lost was a last second play when one of
our guys missed a layup to win. This loss was hard on the team. After it we were 17 4 on the
season. The last game was coming up only one day away and he was back from his weeks off.
He was so excited to play. We got to the game and it was about game time. We knew they were
gonna be a good team we just had to expect that day in and day out. He did not start this game but
he came in soon after a couple minutes of play. When he came in he got two quick fouls and had
to go out again. When he came back in for the second time he made his first shot and was happy
to be back with his team. He ended up fouling out in the beginning of the fourth quarter. In that
fourth quarter we were down by 4 with 2 minutes left. Our team is one of the best freshman
teams in our conference and was known for scoring when we needed it most and this is exactly
what happened the team pulled there and won the game to finish the season with a win. The
overall record of the team was 18 4. This year I would like our team to be undefeated and for

Police Duties On The Private Lives Of New Zealand Police...
I am a member of Expert Learning Group E and will be presenting on our assigned text, namely
the section titled Policing in Small and Rural Jurisdictions. For the case study portion of the
assignment I read an article by John Buttle, Corrine Fowler, and Mei Wah Williams titled The
Impact of Rural Policing on the Private Lives of New Zealand PoliceOfficers. This article studied
the impact police duties on the lives of rural police officers in comparison to those working in
urban areas. A total of 16 officers from the national police force of New Zealand were
interviewed; 7 were from urban areas, and 9 whom worked in rural assignments. The information
gleaned from the interviews indicated there are significantly different impacts on the lives of police
officers between the two areas.
Rural officers felt a heightened sense of danger associated with receiving support from other
officers due to the diminished concentration of officers, and the significantly increased
geographic separation. This is in contrast to the urban areas where officers often rely on the
timely response of back up. Another issue related to having rural officers in large geographic
areas of responsibility was the issue of response time when having to respond significant distances
to investigate calls for service. In urban areas officers are never very far from their calls, and the
higher concentration of officers reduces response time.
Because of limited resources in rural areas, the New Zealand

A Summary Of A Reflection On The Movie Cinda Kozolithe
A Reflection Paper on the movie crocodile Dundee
Crocodile Dundee is a movie about the story of an American reporter Sue Charlton (Linda
Kozlowski) and Michael J, or Crocodile Dundee (Paul Hogan). In this movie, Linda Kozlowski
acts as Sue Charlton and Paul Hogan Acts as Michael Crocodile Dundee. This movie is written
by Paul Hogan, John Cornell, and ken Shadie. It is directed by Peter Faiman. An American
reporter, Sue traveled to the northern territory to a town called walkabout creek. It is a small
village where people live together and lead their life by hunting and very simply. Michael or
crocodile Dundee is a real hunter who subdues crocodile easily. Crocodile Dundee is very friendly
person in his culture who walks through the bushes freely with confidence and pride. Crocodile
Dundee is a character who rides horses and subdue buffalos. Crocodile Dundee is representative of
the Australian Bush culture. After watching this movie, I have understood how the main character
Crocodile Dundee is influenced by his Masculinity culture and cultural competence.
Crocodile Dundee lives in a culture in which masculinity has a means of power, respect, and pride.
According to our textbook communication: interpersonal communication in a highly masculine
culture, men are valued for their aggressiveness, material success, and strength. I think the main
character crocodile Dundee s aggressiveness toward to the animals and people around him is the
direct result of the culture he lives. For example, his aggressiveness toward the people he met in a
small pub, him killing a snake without any weapon, and saving Sue from crocodile accident while
she was in the water were how he express his aggrieves and strength to survive in a masculinity
culture in which what he did result in appreciation and respect among the people he shares the same
culture. Based on our text, members of masculine cultures are more likely to confront directly and
to fight out any differences competitively think that is the main reason he instead solving problems
with conversation uses force to get what he wants. For example, he didn t take the conversation
lightly when a cup driver with the ladies talked to him rather he punched him in the face. I think

Essay On Gun Laws
The most developed country with the highest amounts of gun related deaths is the United States.
This is understandable due to the amount of shootings that occur in the country ranging from local
miniscule headlines to massacres. However the public agrees, the reason for most of these
shootings is due to lack of control on the gunbuying process that our government enacted.
Governments should have stricter and more controlled gun laws to diminish the amount of yearly
homicides. First, stricter gun laws are beneficial because it limits the amount of damage a shooter
can inflict on a community. The recent shooting in an Orlando gay nightclub which claimed over
fifty lives and injured hundreds was enacted with only one shooter. As due to our... Show more

A recent example of this was at a night screening of a Hollywood blockbuster where a deranged
shooter by the name of James Holmes, who pleaded for insanity in court, open fired into the crowd
of movie goers once again killing many in the process. The reports have concluded that Holmes was
mentally unstable and should have been rejected for getting any type of weapon, unfortunately the
sequence of events did not transpire in that fashion. This is not the only time when the United States
failed to uphold the peace of gun violence in the country as in recent history a police officer was
shot and euthanized by a war veteran ailing from PTSD. The reason why he was able to keep his
weapon was due to his military service but they did not take away his weapon due to the fact the
government do not check the people that already possess weapons for any mental anomalies.
Therefore if the laws controlled more on owning a firearm then lives like this could have been
saved and perhaps gun violence would diminish. The existence of more controllable and stricter
gun laws in the United States can save the lives of many every year. As today, the people allow
themselves to buy weapons that were meant beyond the capabilities of self protection. Along with
the idea that people who own a gun and are psychologically unsound

The Significance of Act 3 Scene 7 to Shakespeare s Richard III Richard iii essay Richard the
third is the last play in a cycle of eight plays that Shakespeare wrote to dramatize the history of
England between 1398 1485. The plays depict the struggle for the crown and in Richard the
third it shows how Richard finally gets to the crown by committing lots of murders but then is
toppled by Richmond. In this essay I will explore how significant act 3 scene 7 is to the play. In
this play Richard is presented as a ingenious man who can easily manipulate others for his sake ,

scene 3 we find that Buckingham has a conscience when he is asked to kill the princes
Buckingham answers give me some little breath, some pause, dear lord . That quote shows how
buckinghams conscience needs some time to think about whether he shall kill the princes. I
think Buckingham has a problem about killing the princes as they are only young and innocent.
Buckingham helps Richard become king as he is promised riches, power and the earldom of
Hereford but when he thinks about killing the princes Richard gets angry as he does not want
someone who thinks about orders they were given, so Richard does not give Buckingham the
reward that he was promised. This makes Buckingham angry so he brings an army to kill Richard
but a storm disperses the troops. Buckingham aand Richard need each other to be as strong an
example of this would be when Buckingham spreads the rumours about king Edward and the
people don t say anything but then when Buckingham gets Richard to stand between two
churchmen the people begin to want Richard to become king. Richard wants to have more power
than Buckingham an exmple of this would be when Richard says I will not yield to you . Which
means I will not do what you want me to do. Richard and Buckingham both try to manipulate each

The Drug Problem Of Addicted With Prescription Drugs
Most researchers believe that addictions are caused by a number of risk factors, working together
to create the addiction that consume and destroy people lives. Most people become addicted with
prescription drugs they are taking; however, there are cases where individuals have used
recreational and prescription drugs without becoming addicts. Once an individual starts using
drugs, he/she becomes physically and emotionally dependent on them. Drug abuse can cause great
amount of pain and suffering depending on each individual and the extent of his or her addiction.
The extent of a person s vulnerability to their addiction depends on their social environment,
mental stability, physical health, and their genes. According to Kellogg Our drug problem is a
major problem, which in all likelihood, stems from poverty, loneliness, shame, dishonesty, rage,
family violence, power and greed. It is a spiritual bankruptcy that eats away at a culture and
destroys the core of meaningfulness in people s lives (Kellogg, 1990, p. xvii). Those who are
addicted have rooted all their energy towards pursuing things that are created; rather than pursuing
the Creator. If they have a desire to travel the road to total recovery, they must first change their
mindset to pursue the Creator. All changes in our lives begins with one simple act, and that is
changing our mindset. When those person who are suffering from drug addictionseek out the God

Everything You Need to Know about Stars
A star is a sparkling bundle of gas bound by gravity into a solitary object and is fueled by atomic
combination at the center. There are trillions of stars in our universe and all are distinctive and
extraordinary. Their mass, color, shape makes them all distinctive but mass is the only thing that
makes them unique. There are numerous phases of stars life including main sequencestars, red
giants, white dwarfs, neutron stars, and dark holes. All stars additionally have a lot of varieties in
each one phase of life. The life of a starstarts in a cloud, an incredible gathering of gas and dust.
When enough mass has aggregated into a solitary item, gravity compels the mass to crumple into
the middle. Because of weight and rubbing, the center gets so hot that it starts atomic combination
and a protostar is made.
HR Diagram
The age and the mass of stars enlighten everything concerning a stars physical properties and
situation into each of the classifications. The Hertzsprung Russell chart (HR Diagram) diagrams
stars glows over the stars phantom class. Radiance portrays how splendid the star is (I, II, III, IV,
V); ghastly class depicts its temperature (O, B, A, F, G, K, M). This chart is the most ideal
approach to classify stars.
Protostar
A protostar is structured in the beginnings of a star. The protostar s gravity is answerable for
making stars thick. As the gravity of the protostar builds so does the compression of mass. As the
thickness expanded so does the temperature. In

Drosophila Lab Abstract
Introduction The study of population genetics is simply how the genes or alleles within a
population may vary or change. The purpose of population genetics is being able to predict the
genes that are expressed in future generations and understanding why that is. An allele is an
alternate form of a gene, so blonde hair and black hair are both alleles but hair color is a gene. In
this particular experiment the alleles being focused on are the body colors of the Drosophila
melanogaster, which is the common fruit fly. The two different body color alleles are the wild
type, tan body color, and the ebony type, black body color. Drosophila melanogaster was chosen
for the experiment as it is the archetype for population genetics. Drosophila is a model organism
for population genetics just as the house mouse has become a model organism (Powell, 1997). The
benefits of using Drosophila in this experiment is that it has a short life cycle along with a fast...

To test to see if evolution is taking place the Hardy Weinberg Principle will be used. This equation
allows us to predict future allele frequencies based on the current alleles frequencies if no
evolution were taking place. This means if the observed frequencies differ from the expected
frequencies some form of evolution must have taken place. The Hardy Weinberg Principle has
many conditions that must be met to ensure no evolution is taking place, if the observed and
expected results do not match then one of those conditions was not met. Other deviations from
Hardy Weinberg may result from inbreeding, population stratification and sexual selection
(Balding, 2006). This leads to the hypothesis in that due to a small initial population size of 20
flies not all of the conditions for Hardy Weinberg will be met resulting in evolution taking

Persian Gulf War Analysis
The Persian Gulf War is also known as Americans Operation Desert storm. It was one of the most
major events in American history from 1990 to 1991. The Americans fought in this war and had a
great excuse for conquering Kuwait. The Gulf War was upraised by Saddam s violent tendencies
in ordering an invasion of Kuwait. The nation large oil reserves had canceled a large debt that Iraq
owed to Kuwait. Iraq also had an expansion of power in the region. On August 3 the United
Nations Security Council called for Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait, and on August 6 the council
imposed a worldwide ban on trade with Iraq. The Iraqi government responded by formally annexing
Kuwait on August 8. (Britannica, 2015) The environment always seems to be the victim of... Show

Saddam Hussein felt smothered, and unable to find money to repay the other Arab states for
Iraq s previous war with Iran. The only way for Iraq to obtain revenue was through oil exports.
Kuwait, who didn t need the extra revenue, was overproducing which drove prices down, and
drove Saddam s frustration up (Wilson, 1995). Enough time has elapsed to study the economic
impact of the Gulf War on the region. Most of the economic costs were incurred by Iraq. Losses
in military equipment alone totaled over $50 billion (Wilson, 1995). The time and effort needed
to repair the damage and build replacement facilities will take years to accomplish. This will also
be difficult for Iraq because of the pending arms embargo on the state. The economic position
may be easier for Kuwait, although the impact is still hard felt. The most expansive damage was
that inflicted upon the oil installations. Overall, the costliest damage was the environmental
disaster caused by the oil slicks, which cost more the $700 million to clean up (Wilson, 1995).
From 1991 1992, Kuwait s oil industry severely deteriorated and suffered a massive drop in

The world has changed a lot in the past decade, the development of new technology and the

Memory Money And Persistence Theater Of Social Change In...
Each generation presents us with the different varieties of artistic expression. The prevalence of
art impacting society has always been constant. With the many forms of artistic expression that
exist, it is also easy to see how an individual can test out the different options available to them
until finding a specific form that suits their tastes. When this happens, the artist and viewer create
a special mutually beneficial relationship. This is evident in the article, Memory, Money and
Persistence: Theater Of Social Change in Context written by Arlene Goldbard. . Goldbard used her
article to expose the concept of social awareness and performances that are relevant to and can
even change the open world outside of the arts. This is evident

Does Mckeel really need a change? Football is as fun as it sounds, at least that s what you have
always heard, but is it really?. Football is a very enthusiastic game, it s one of the games that is
both fun to play and watch. Football is the most talked about topic in Mckeel, often people are in a
debate that should Mckeel have a footballteam? Or not? Students often support the topic of
having a football team in Mckeel. What they forget to pay attention to is that this decision can
come at a cost, both for your health and even for your parents money. Mckeel should not have a
football team because it can cause serious injuries, it s very expensive and it takes a commitment
of both your time and effort you put into the game. Football is a game that can cause serious

views the world from a different perspective. He stands for what he believes in. He does not get
overwhelmed with any types of emotions. Although sometimes he does try to view the world as
others do, but maybe that is too late for him to do. Before his execution, the Chaplain comes to
try to make him believe in the faith, pray for forgiveness but he refuses how he refused the

of forcefully believing something. At the very end of the novel he says, For all to be

execution there should be a huge crowd of spectators and that they should greet me with howls

Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is more commonly known to...
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is more commonly known to humans as Mad Cow Disease
or BSE. BSE originated from scrapie or Endemic Spongiform Encephalopathy, which is a disease
that has affected mostly sheep and goats. BSE is an illness that attacks the brain and spinal cord of
adult cattle due to an infection by a transmissible agent known as a prion. Once affected by BSE
cattle began to develop strange behavior such as aggression, lack of coordination with the inability
to stand or walk, and abnormal posture; hence the name Mad Cow Disease (1).
Why BSE Should Be Eradicated

Because of what many refer to as the domino effect, 90% of those infected will suffer a death
within one year (4).
Can BSE be Eradicated
A Tough Road Ahead
BSE is an extremely rare disease making it a very tough candidate for eradication. This is especially
true in humans; while still rare, BSE is much more common in cattle rather than humans. It is also
very tough to conduct studies with the rapid progression of the disease and the short lifespan of
those infected. Because the cattle commonly infected are vastly spread out between multiple
countries, this adds yet another obstacle to overcome when attempting to eradicate BSE in cattle
and in return eradicating vCJD in humans. Even with the obvious and difficult complications facing
the extermination of this disease the government and scientists have outlined a few ways to slow
down the progression and transmittal of BSE (5).
What Can Be Done Steps to Eradication
Despite the incredibly hard process ahead to eradicate BSE and vCJD here are the steps that have
already been put into place to begin the procedure. In July of 1988 a feed ban was introduced as
the key animal health control measure. The feed ban is thought to prevent the integration of
conceivably infectious material into animal feed for ruminants, and to prevent uninfected cattle
from becoming ill. The FDA decided to strengthen the 1988 rule in 1997 and 2008 by barring the
use of high risk cattle tissues in all animal feed.

Many have voiced their concerns over the many issues within the teaching profession. Heather
Voke of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum responds to one issue, the teacher
shortage, by researching the nature of the shortage, its probable causes, problems resulting from
the shortage, and frequently recommended policy changes. According to Voke (2003), 42 percent
of all teachers leaving depart for lack of job satisfaction, to pursue another career, or better career
opportunities. Low salaries and lack of public respect also impacts teacher retention. Policy
recommendations to retain teachers include: salary increases, high quality induction programs,
prohibit out of field teaching, include teachers in decision making, developing current teachers,
collaboration with universities to attract and train teachers, and reduce class size. Voke suggests
that policy makers and educational leaders do not understand the nature of the teacher shortage.
Moreover, developing programs to attract candidates and not properly train them risks wasting
valuable resources. According to Heller (2004), education is notorious for a low survival rate of

Tattoos And Body Art
There were many different forms of body art that was shown in the documentary. In the culture
there are the bandag s, the markings that they have, and Tattoos and body art painting is an art
movement in its own right. It is getting to the point that having an original tattoo done by a
famed tattoo artist is as coveted as owning an original artwork done by one of the painting
masters. People will proudly show off and boast of their ink as if they are showing a Da Vinci,
Picasso or Monet. However, they rarely brag about its uniqueness or cost; they would rather rattle
off the amount of hours it took to complete and the inspiration and personal meaning behind it.
Due to body art s current popularity, tattoo artists are being likened to the painting masters of the
past. Just like the great artists, tattoo artists and body art painters must have a keen eye for detail,
skilled hands, and incredible vision. It takes incredible precision to paint on a living, breathing
human being compared to painting on an inanimate object such as paper or canvas. Tattooing
leaves very little or no room for error. Moreover, tattoos cannot just be shoved into a closet when
they become tiresome to their owner.
Some think that body art painting is not as valid an art form as painting and sculpture, and that
body art artists should not be compared to the great painting masters. Nonetheless, they do have one
thing in common: a relationship with the subject. Illustrious painters hold a relationship with

During my research on alopecia I examined journals, articles and web sources in order to receive a
better understanding of the disease, and the problems afflicted people have. To foster a greater
understanding of the illness I researched general information on the disease. Most importantly, the

result, I decided that a solution to this problem is to change society s views on hair loss.

Why Do Not Football Helmets Promote Neck Injuries Essay
The goal of this project is to work towards answering the question of whether or not football
helmets promote neck injuries. In order to gather data, a U of R team made a machine that rapidly
changes speed while translating from side to side to stimulate a rotational acceleration and velocity
about the head and neck due to an angular displacement. The purpose of this machine is to simulate
an unexpected and sudden change in motion of the head in order to analyse the resulting motion.
The data collected was the rotational position of the head, the linear position of the cart, and the
linear position of a point on the body. All measurements were made with and without a helmet. In
order to answer the main question, there had to be a further understanding of how the mechanics of
the head and neck change with the addition of a helmet. To achieve this, MATLAB was used to
compute the resulting velocities and accelerations, the reaction forces at the neck, and the moment
about the base of the neck. From these calculations, it is possible to make observations about how
the addition of a helmet affects the dynamics of the head and neck. The code is structured with a
script of general input data such as the given data and labels for plots. All of the given position data
was corrected to start at position zero for better comparison between the positions with and without
the helmet. The information was then passed into a function that converted all data into the desired
units, computed

Western Films In The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
In order to make an iconic western film, directors and filmmakers need to have three very
important characteristics in their films. These traits are having a cowboy who roams the western
frontier, a conflict between multiple groups, and a shootout to end the film. The Good, The Bad
and The Ugly by Sergio Leone is considered one of the greatest westernfilms of all time. Another
Sergio Leone filmA Fistful of Dollars should be considered one of the greats as well due to the
presence of the three major traits of western films.
The first major characteristic of a western film is a nomadic cowboy as the main character that the

between all three of the important characters. This film provides a little twist to the standard
shootout since it has three people facing off against one another. Each of the characters is trying
to get the gold that drove the film up until the final scene. Nevertheless, the scene is still
recognized as a shootout by all who watch the film. In A Fistful of Dollars, The Man With No

This is one of the times that he remembers most clearly. It was during the 1920s and he described
it as a difficult one. Work was not always easy to come by and his father had died, leaving him to

that the harder times were the ones that left the strongest impressions. Once Bromberg got
married and began to have children, his life became more stable and the details of this period are
glossed over. Although this period of time 1932 1934 was a turbulent one in the realm of
politics, Bromberg had nothing to say about it. He said that he had nothing to do with politics
because he had no time for it between work, family life, and church events. The period after

Bromberg reports that he had found a flat in Essen and his life once again became more stable. In

Third Man Corruption
The Film Noir, The Third Man , showed the evident effect that World War 2 had on people. Since
this film was produced in 1949, after World War 2, it reflected the social fears and cultural
changes that have plagued people during post war. Before the war, there was the ideology of the
strong American family. This family portrayed strong values such as happiness, hardworking,
and optimism. However during post war, there was a shade of darkness as fear, greed and evil

caused people like Holly, to go around the town trying to solve his murder case while leaving his

Although these spies weren t selling on the black market, they were putting their families under
emotional distress as well as possibly tearing families apart. Despite Lime s lack of family

him there as its director. The work that came out of Chekhov and his peers, according to Michael

According to the acting school stop website, Chekhov s views on the job of the actor was not to
imitate life, but rather to interpret it, to bring out its hidden meaning to the audience. For this, they
must be able to act with ease, bring form and beauty to their creative expressions, and see the big
picture so they can convey it in their performance, (Michael). This site goes on to discuss the things
that his Method consists of. Discussed first is the idea of allowing the body to be trained to be
receptive so that it can convey the inner life and emotions of a character to the audience. Chekhov
thought that method acting was very unhealthy for the actor and stunted creativity and inspiration
for a character. He instead wanted actors to get into the mindset of the character and learn to
understand why they do what they do through analysis. He encouraged students to go into the world
and watch real people interacting with each other and with the world around them to draw
inspiration for themselves. His method consists of a lot of inner analysis, meaning using your brain
and your own creativity and imagination to explore the characters reality. It also suggests that an
actor should learn to imagine their environment and its atmosphere/ conditions to better understand
the physicalizations of the character. For example, if its cold outside, or

The Hellenic And Hellenistic Renaissance
The Hellenic and Hellenistic shift was a turning point for Greek culture. The Hellenic are those
who lived in ancient Greece before Alexander the Great. The Hellenistics are those who lived in
the period after Alexander the Great s conquest. Alexander the Great was a mighty and strong
leader of the Greek people. The people that were under his following respected him greatly. We
can tell the drastic changes that occurred after Alexander Great was leader by the art,
philosophies, and religion. The Hellenistic Changes that occurred showed us that the Hellenistic
priorities transformed drastically from what the Hellenic ways were like. The Hellenic and
Hellenistic are greatly differentiated by the art that they created. Their art work showed their
own ideas of what the modern day person looked like in their eyes. When looking at the Hellenic
period of art we find that the Hellenic people displayed what they thought a perfect human
would look like. The Hellenic people thought the truth was in the beauty of the person. The
Hellenic display of art was what ideal beauty was to them. The people in the art looked very
healthy and muscular. In all reality the Hellenic people had less money than the Hellenistic people
put their artwork displayed their people in a rich and higher class way. The textbook says, art in
the Hellenistic Age declined noticeably from high standards of the preceding age ( World
Civilizations, Chapter 9, Greek Humanism, page 112). This shows us that the

The agency noted that the delays set off a number of quarrels between customers and low cost
carriers for failing to provide satisfactory explanations or solutions. At other times, the website
reported, the carriers didn t make staff available to answer questions.
The carriers were accused of being poor problem solvers, as they usually informed passengers of
the delays or cancellation at the last possible minute, and repeatedly changed flight times.
Many passengers complained to local media about a tendency for local airlines to only inform
passengers of cancellations a couple hours before the scheduled departure time or after they have
waited a couple hours at the airport.
When the carriers sent text messages to passengers about the delays, they did not apologize and
failed to provide an explanation or compensation for the inconvenience.
Worse still, many passengers at the airport were not provided with food while waiting for their
flights to be resumed.
Lack of proper punishments seems to be a problem in the country s aviation industry, which has
seen sharp increases in the rates of delays and cancellations recently.
Service failure
Service failure and recovery play important roles in determining service quality and customer
satisfaction (Smith Bolton, 1998). It has also been suggested that

Heien v. North Carolina, 135 S. Ct. 530, 534 (U.S. 2014). A traffic stop for a suspected violation
of law is a seizure of the occupants of the vehicle and therefore must be conducted in accordance
with the Fourth Amendment. Id. at 536. Seizures based on mistakes of fact may be reasonable.
Id. at 532. All parties agree that to justify this type of seizure, officers need only reasonable
suspicion that is, a particularized and objective basis for suspecting the particular person stopped
of breaking the law. To be reasonable is not to be perfect, and so the Fourth Amendment allows for
some mistakes on the part of government officials, giving them fair leeway for enforcing the law in
the community s protection. Reasonable suspicion arises from the combination of an officer s
understanding of the facts and his understanding of the relevant law. Id. at 536. Courts do not
examine the subjective understanding of the particular officer involved. The Fourth Amendment
tolerates mistakes and preserves probable cause if those mistakes whether of fact or of law [are]

Mauritius Geography and Climate
Mauritius is an island of a volcanic origin and it has a central plateau which is about 400 metres
above the sea level. The island s tropical climate which is warm and dry in winter and hot and
wet in summer would be acceptable for many people. The seasons in Mauritius can be divided
into hot, wet season which starts from December to April and pleasantly cool, dry season from
May to November. This makes Mauritius a year round tourist destination. The average temperature
in summer is 27В° C on the Coast and 23В° C on the Central Plateau. Winter season on Mauritius
Island has an average temperature of 21В° C on the Coast to 17В° C on the Central Plateau.

Comparing Millet And Homer s Paintings
Both artworks Man with a Hoe 1860 1862, and The cotton pickers 1876 have subjects in the
people and occupations of everyday world. Millet and Homer s most of the works are related with
agriculture and life of poor and middle class people. The reason I choose these artworks because
they are related with occupations of everyday life. Also they are related with realism. Bad time
comes on everybody, and both artists have been involved in the controversy about their art works.
Jean François Milletwas accused of being a political trouble maker artist. His painting like Man
with a Hoe caused a controversy in the 1860s. The standing man s expressions in the picture were
translated as a communist protest. There was some negative reviews on some of the images in
Winslow Homers paintings were shown... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some parts in the artworks that are related with each other. For example, there are bright
and hue colours in the artworks, and the artists used primary colours in them. There are no uses of
shadows in the cotton picker s artwork. The use of plants in the paintings makes them relates with
nature and free form style art. Millet man with a hoe was made with a pen and brushes. The
texture of these pieces is rough because the artists used hue colours. The use of colours in the
artworks affects the quality of the art because if Homer only used the dark black colour in the
cotton pickers, then viewer cannot recognize the cotton plant in the painting. Both are medium
style paintings made with oil on canvas. The culture is different in the paintings. The cotton picker
is related with American culture and the man with a hoe is related with French culture. The main
reason they are connected with each other because it shows the hard working images of peoples
inside them. It does not matter what culture they are belong to. They are made in late 1800s during
war time, and that is the reason they got involved in

Gun History Essay
Gun History/Development:
What is the history of guns and gun building throughout the world?
Over 43% of Americans own a gun for either sporting or protection ( 21 unbelieveable ). Guns have
been improved throughout many years and there are still many people making many improvements
yet today. The history and evolution of guns improved by the creators who made them and how the
improvements better helped the gun overall are some of the things you will find in this paper.
Some background of gunpowder started with a man named Berthold Schwarz. He was a German
monk who was the first to make gunpowder around the 1300s. He also invented the first gun which
wasn t technically a gun but a huge heavy cannon which used gunpowder to fire (Kevin 4). ... Show

After people got tired of dragging around a huge heavy cannon they then made a smaller handled
cannon but it was still very hard to aim because you had to hold it with one hand and light it with
the other (Supica, Jim). The Arquebuses were the first handheld gun that didn t need to be lit by
match or fuse. Also with the Arquebuse being able to be held with two hands and not having to lit
by hand made it way more accurate than earlier guns (14). The Arquebuse also greatly helped to
create the musket which had a better more advanced ignition system. The musket first began to
be used during the 1400s. Then muskets helped to design the flintlock (14). Also by the mid
1400s people began to develope handguns or pistols. By the 1500s people were able to make
pistol effective to about four feet. One bad thing was how long the pistols took to reload so they
then began to design and create the revolver (18). Then around 1833 the very first breech loader
was created. A breech loader is loaded from the back of the gun instead of the front making it a lot
quicker and easier to reload. Then shortly after in around 1840 they began to mass produce the first
revolver called the pepperbox (Supica,

The Causes Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials Of 1692
Neil Armstrong once said Mystery creates wonder, and wonder is the basis of man s desire to
understand. The witchcraft trials of 1692 are still certainly shrouded by boundless amounts of
mystery. For decades, the exact reasons for which the many citizens of Salem Massachusetts were
accused of witchcraft remain unclear. Furthermore, the strange events and symptoms that the
people documented in salem during the time of the witchcrafttrials also remain somewhat
inexplicable. During this relatively brief span of time, more than 200 people were accused of
witchcraft, and 20 were executed. The people of Salem were puritans, a religious group that
splintered off of the catholic church following Martin Luther s post of the 95 theses. The people
of the town would claim that those accused were bewitched and under the influence of an Evil
Hand . Of the many accused, 19 were women, all of which were hanged. The twentieth was the
husband of one of the convicted witches. Instead of being hanged, the man was gruesomely
pressed to death by heavy weights placed on top of him. Accusing others of witchery became a
way to enforce male superiority, as well as a tactic used to settle feuds between citizens. While the
question may never be answered in complete certainty, the most plausible causes of the witchcraft
trials in salem may still be found. Sexism and religion were among the main reasons for the
witchcraft hysteria, the explanation as to what the cause of the strange symptoms

The Mid-Life Crisis
Mid life Crisis We as humans are constantly evolving each day. Our mentalities change with us for
the better or worse. For many individuals, female or male, our mid life crisis affects middle age
adults from ages 37 50 s. Everyone is different; people may experience a mild or severe case of a
mid life crisis. The typical stereotype we know occurs when a big event has taken place in our
lives such as retiring from a job, or even when a loved one passes on. Todays, the old midlife
crisis is more likely to be called a midlife transition. Yale psychologist, Daniel Levinson states that
experiencing a mid life crisis or transition is a normal and natural part of a human s life. His theory
claims that adult s development a series of stages in their

A Short Note On Chronic And Chronic Illness
Ms. Jones has a both acute and chronic illness which makes her situation more complex. The
acute conditions have a great potential to be reversed; she has a critical hemoglobin (Hgb) level
of 6.4 g/dl, a major infection and a left gangrenous extremity that requires emergent care.
Treatment of the acute condition may be complicated by her chronic condition of diabetes.
Immediate care is required to avoid the spread of the infection and a further decline in her Hgb
level which could result in a fatality. Stabilization of her Hgb level and starting intravenous
antibiotic therapy is necessary to avoid harm; decreasing her chance of cardiac arrest and
systemic infection which would increase the likelihood of success in her case. This scenario
does not mention her blood glucose (BG) level but another way harm can be avoided is by
assuring her BG level is within an acceptable range, as well. Therefore, admitting her to a medical
surgical unit to stabilize her Hgb and BG may be necessary prior to surgery. Although her anemia
could be a result of her infection the practitioner should make an effort to determine the cause of
her low Hgb levels to avoid further complications and develop future treatment plans. However,
medical care would not be indicated, if Ms. Jones continues to refuse blood transfusions.
Therefore, more of a palliative or hospice care path may be indicated versus medical and surgical
acute care. According to our text, Ms. Jones has not had a mini mental

Which lead to the law of effect if an action is followed by a pleasurable consequence, it will tend to be repeated (Ciccarelli White, 2017 p.188). This is an example of positive reinforcement the cat escaping from the box there is food to reward when it is successful. Here are the two kinds of reinforcement there is positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement is when you add a reward and negative reinforcement is the removal of a thing. We also have primary and secondary enforcements that are a part of this as well. An example of would be when I go to work for Meijer pushing carts I get reward with a paycheck once a week which is a second dairy reinforcement. Money is a secondary reinforcement because you can use it to get other goods vs a primary which you can use yourself like food and clothing. • 3. The Human Of Human Cloning 1.INTRODUCTION Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. However, this term not only refers to the entire artificial human, but also the reproduction of human cells and tissues. There are two types of theoretical human cloning: reproductive cloning which would involve making an entire cloned human and the other, therapeutic cloning, which would involve cloning cells from a human for use in medicine and transplants by somatic cell nuclear transfer or pluripotent stem cell induction. In reproductive cloning the entire genetic code is reproduced from a single body cell of an adult individual. The most common cloning technique is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). The procedure is as follows: The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... iPSCs are typically derived by introducing products of specific sets of pluripotency associated genes, or reprogramming factors , into a given cell type. 2.ISSUES Although the human cloning seems fairly beneficial and useful for human welfare, the possibility of human cloning has raised controversies. Concerning reproductive cloning, advocates believe that parents who cannot otherwise procreate should have access to the technology. Some opponents have concerns that technology is not yet developed enough to be safe while others emphasize that reproductive cloning could be prone to abuse (leading to the generation of humans whose organs and tissues would be harvested), and have concerns about how cloned individuals could integrate with families and with society at large. With regards to therapeutic cloning, the problem is that many attempts are often required to create a viable egg. The stability of the egg with the infused somatic nucleus is poor and it can require hundreds of attempts before success is attained. Therapeutic cloning does result in the destruction of an embryo after stem cells are extracted and this destruction has stirred controversy over the morality of the procedure. Some argue that the pros outweigh the cons with regards to treating disease and support development of therapeutic cloning in order to generate tissues and whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The few remaining leaves of the tree rustle as a light autumn morning breeze passes through them. One of them is blown free, making a soft snapping sound as it breaks away from its anchored brothers and begins to fall to the ground below. It twists and turns as it goes and I watch it in momentary curiosity. I have seen this often before. It is still mostly green, only slightly browning at the edges. • 8. Police Duties On The Private Lives Of New Zealand Police... I am a member of Expert Learning Group E and will be presenting on our assigned text, namely the section titled Policing in Small and Rural Jurisdictions. For the case study portion of the assignment I read an article by John Buttle, Corrine Fowler, and Mei Wah Williams titled The Impact of Rural Policing on the Private Lives of New Zealand PoliceOfficers. This article studied the impact police duties on the lives of rural police officers in comparison to those working in urban areas. A total of 16 officers from the national police force of New Zealand were interviewed; 7 were from urban areas, and 9 whom worked in rural assignments. The information gleaned from the interviews indicated there are significantly different impacts on the lives of police officers between the two areas. Rural officers felt a heightened sense of danger associated with receiving support from other officers due to the diminished concentration of officers, and the significantly increased geographic separation. This is in contrast to the urban areas where officers often rely on the timely response of back up. Another issue related to having rural officers in large geographic areas of responsibility was the issue of response time when having to respond significant distances to investigate calls for service. In urban areas officers are never very far from their calls, and the higher concentration of officers reduces response time. Because of limited resources in rural areas, the New Zealand ... Crocodile Dundee is a character who rides horses and subdue buffalos. Crocodile Dundee is representative of the Australian Bush culture. After watching this movie, I have understood how the main character Crocodile Dundee is influenced by his Masculinity culture and cultural competence. Crocodile Dundee lives in a culture in which masculinity has a means of power, respect, and pride. According to our textbook communication: interpersonal communication in a highly masculine culture, men are valued for their aggressiveness, material success, and strength. I think the main character crocodile Dundee s aggressiveness toward to the animals and people around him is the direct result of the culture he lives. For example, his aggressiveness toward the people he met in a small pub, him killing a snake without any weapon, and saving Sue from crocodile accident while she was in the water were how he express his aggrieves and strength to survive in a masculinity culture in which what he did result in appreciation and respect among the people he shares the same culture. Based on our text, members of masculine cultures are more likely to confront directly and to fight out any differences competitively think that is the main reason he instead solving problems with conversation uses force to get what he wants. • 10. Essay On Gun Laws The most developed country with the highest amounts of gun related deaths is the United States. This is understandable due to the amount of shootings that occur in the country ranging from local miniscule headlines to massacres. However the public agrees, the reason for most of these shootings is due to lack of control on the gunbuying process that our government enacted. Governments should have stricter and more controlled gun laws to diminish the amount of yearly homicides. First, stricter gun laws are beneficial because it limits the amount of damage a shooter can inflict on a community. The recent shooting in an Orlando gay nightclub which claimed over fifty lives and injured hundreds was enacted with only one shooter. As due to our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A recent example of this was at a night screening of a Hollywood blockbuster where a deranged shooter by the name of James Holmes, who pleaded for insanity in court, open fired into the crowd of movie goers once again killing many in the process. The reports have concluded that Holmes was mentally unstable and should have been rejected for getting any type of weapon, unfortunately the sequence of events did not transpire in that fashion. This is not the only time when the United States failed to uphold the peace of gun violence in the country as in recent history a police officer was shot and euthanized by a war veteran ailing from PTSD. The reason why he was able to keep his weapon was due to his military service but they did not take away his weapon due to the fact the government do not check the people that already possess weapons for any mental anomalies. Therefore if the laws controlled more on owning a firearm then lives like this could have been saved and perhaps gun violence would diminish. The existence of more controllable and stricter gun laws in the United States can save the lives of many every year. There are trillions of stars in our universe and all are distinctive and extraordinary. Their mass, color, shape makes them all distinctive but mass is the only thing that makes them unique. There are numerous phases of stars life including main sequencestars, red giants, white dwarfs, neutron stars, and dark holes. All stars additionally have a lot of varieties in each one phase of life. The life of a starstarts in a cloud, an incredible gathering of gas and dust. When enough mass has aggregated into a solitary item, gravity compels the mass to crumple into the middle. • 20. Drosophila Lab Abstract Introduction The study of population genetics is simply how the genes or alleles within a population may vary or change. The purpose of population genetics is being able to predict the genes that are expressed in future generations and understanding why that is. An allele is an alternate form of a gene, so blonde hair and black hair are both alleles but hair color is a gene. In this particular experiment the alleles being focused on are the body colors of the Drosophila melanogaster, which is the common fruit fly. The two different body color alleles are the wild type, tan body color, and the ebony type, black body color. Drosophila melanogaster was chosen for the experiment as it is the archetype for population genetics. Enough time has elapsed to study the economic impact of the Gulf War on the region. Most of the economic costs were incurred by Iraq. At the very end of the novel he says, For all to be accomplished, for me to feel less lonely, all that remained to hope was that on the day of my execution there should be a huge crowd of spectators and that they should greet me with howls of execration (Camus, 75). BSE originated from scrapie or Endemic Spongiform Encephalopathy, which is a disease that has affected mostly sheep and goats. BSE is an illness that attacks the brain and spinal cord of adult cattle due to an infection by a transmissible agent known as a prion. Once affected by BSE cattle began to develop strange behavior such as aggression, lack of coordination with the inability to stand or walk, and abnormal posture; hence the name Mad Cow Disease (1). Can BSE be Eradicated A Tough Road Ahead BSE is an extremely rare disease making it a very tough candidate for eradication. This is especially true in humans; while still rare, BSE is much more common in cattle rather than humans. It is also very tough to conduct studies with the rapid progression of the disease and the short lifespan of those infected. Because the cattle commonly infected are vastly spread out between multiple countries, this adds yet another obstacle to overcome when attempting to eradicate BSE in cattle and in return eradicating vCJD in humans. Even with the obvious and difficult complications facing the extermination of this disease the government and scientists have outlined a few ways to slow down the progression and transmittal of BSE (5). What Can Be Done Steps to Eradication Despite the incredibly hard process ahead to eradicate BSE and vCJD here are the steps that have already been put into place to begin the procedure. It is getting to the point that having an original tattoo done by a famed tattoo artist is as coveted as owning an original artwork done by one of the painting masters. People will proudly show off and boast of their ink as if they are showing a Da Vinci, Picasso or Monet. However, they rarely brag about its uniqueness or cost; they would rather rattle off the amount of hours it took to complete and the inspiration and personal meaning behind it. • 32. Why Do Not Football Helmets Promote Neck Injuries Essay The goal of this project is to work towards answering the question of whether or not football helmets promote neck injuries. In order to gather data, a U of R team made a machine that rapidly changes speed while translating from side to side to stimulate a rotational acceleration and velocity about the head and neck due to an angular displacement. The purpose of this machine is to simulate an unexpected and sudden change in motion of the head in order to analyse the resulting motion. The data collected was the rotational position of the head, the linear position of the cart, and the linear position of a point on the body. All measurements were made with and without a helmet. In order to answer the main question, there had to be a further understanding of how the mechanics of the head and neck change with the addition of a helmet. To achieve this, MATLAB was used to compute the resulting velocities and accelerations, the reaction forces at the neck, and the moment about the base of the neck. From these calculations, it is possible to make observations about how the addition of a helmet affects the dynamics of the head and neck. The code is structured with a script of general input data such as the given data and labels for plots. All of the given position data was corrected to start at position zero for better comparison between the positions with and without the helmet. The agency noted that the delays set off a number of quarrels between customers and low cost carriers for failing to provide satisfactory explanations or solutions. At other times, the website reported, the carriers didn t make staff available to answer questions. The carriers were accused of being poor problem solvers, as they usually informed passengers of the delays or cancellation at the last possible minute, and repeatedly changed flight times. Many passengers complained to local media about a tendency for local airlines to only inform passengers of cancellations a couple hours before the scheduled departure time or after they have waited a couple hours at the airport. When the carriers sent text messages to passengers about the delays, they did not apologize and failed to provide an explanation or compensation for the inconvenience. Worse still, many passengers at the airport were not provided with food while waiting for their flights to be resumed. Lack of proper punishments seems to be a problem in the country s aviation industry, which has seen sharp increases in the rates of delays and cancellations recently. Service failure Service failure and recovery play important roles in determining service quality and customer satisfaction (Smith Bolton, 1998). It has also been suggested that ... THE INITIAL STOP WAS CONSTITUTIONAL AND DID NOT VIOLATE APPELLANT S FOURTH AMENDMENT RIGHTS BECAUSE POLICE OFFICER EXECUTING THE STOP REASONABLY THOUGHT THAT CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE WAS BREACHED The Constitution protects individuals from unreasonable seizures under the fourth amendment. The stop of the individual by the law enforcement does not constitute an unlawful seizure because it was reasonable within the meaning of Heien and therefore suppression is not warranted. Ct. 530, 534 (U.S. 2014). A traffic stop for a suspected violation of law is a seizure of the occupants of the vehicle and therefore must be conducted in accordance with the Fourth Amendment. Id. at 536. Seizures based on mistakes of fact may be reasonable. Id. at 532. All parties agree that to justify this type of seizure, officers need only reasonable suspicion that is, a particularized and objective basis for suspecting the particular person stopped of breaking the law. To be reasonable is not to be perfect, and so the Fourth Amendment allows for some mistakes on the part of government officials, giving them fair leeway for enforcing the law in the community s protection. Reasonable suspicion arises from the combination of an officer s understanding of the facts and his understanding of the relevant law. Id. at 536. Courts do not examine the subjective understanding of the particular officer involved. • 48. Comparing Millet And Homer s Paintings Both artworks Man with a Hoe 1860 1862, and The cotton pickers 1876 have subjects in the people and occupations of everyday world. Millet and Homer s most of the works are related with agriculture and life of poor and middle class people. The reason I choose these artworks because they are related with occupations of everyday life. Also they are related with realism. Bad time comes on everybody, and both artists have been involved in the controversy about their art works. Jean FranГ§ois Milletwas accused of being a political trouble maker artist. His painting like Man with a Hoe caused a controversy in the 1860s. The standing man s expressions in the picture were translated as a communist protest. There was some negative reviews on some of the images in Winslow Homers paintings were shown... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some parts in the artworks that are related with each other. For example, there are bright and hue colours in the artworks, and the artists used primary colours in them. There are no uses of shadows in the cotton picker s artwork. The use of plants in the paintings makes them relates with nature and free form style art. Millet man with a hoe was made with a pen and brushes. The texture of these pieces is rough because the artists used hue colours. The use of colours in the artworks affects the quality of the art because if Homer only used the dark black colour in the cotton pickers, then viewer cannot recognize the cotton plant in the painting. Both are medium style paintings made with oil on canvas. The culture is different in the paintings. The cotton picker is related with American culture and the man with a hoe is related with French culture. The main reason they are connected with each other because it shows the hard working images of peoples inside them. It does not matter what culture they are belong to. They are made in late 1800s during war time, and that is the reason they got involved in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Gun History Essay Gun History/Development: What is the history of guns and gun building throughout the world? Over 43% of Americans own a gun for either sporting or protection ( 21 unbelieveable ). Guns have been improved throughout many years and there are still many people making many improvements yet today. The history and evolution of guns improved by the creators who made them and how the improvements better helped the gun overall are some of the things you will find in this paper. Some background of gunpowder started with a man named Berthold Schwarz. He was a German monk who was the first to make gunpowder around the 1300s. He also invented the first gun which wasn t technically a gun but a huge heavy cannon which used gunpowder to fire (Kevin 4). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After people got tired of dragging around a huge heavy cannon they then made a smaller handled cannon but it was still very hard to aim because you had to hold it with one hand and light it with the other (Supica, Jim). The Arquebuses were the first handheld gun that didn t need to be lit by match or fuse. Also with the Arquebuse being able to be held with two hands and not having to lit by hand made it way more accurate than earlier guns (14). The Arquebuse also greatly helped to create the musket which had a better more advanced ignition system. The musket first began to be used during the 1400s. Then muskets helped to design the flintlock (14). Also by the mid 1400s people began to develope handguns or pistols. By the 1500s people were able to make pistol effective to about four feet. One bad thing was how long the pistols took to reload so they then began to design and create the revolver (18). Then around 1833 the very first breech loader was created. A breech loader is loaded from the back of the gun instead of the front making it a lot quicker and easier to reload. Then shortly after in around 1840 they began to mass produce the first revolver called the pepperbox (Supica, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Causes Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials Of 1692 Neil Armstrong once said Mystery creates wonder, and wonder is the basis of man s desire to understand. The witchcraft trials of 1692 are still certainly shrouded by boundless amounts of mystery. For decades, the exact reasons for which the many citizens of Salem Massachusetts were accused of witchcraft remain unclear. Furthermore, the strange events and symptoms that the people documented in salem during the time of the witchcrafttrials also remain somewhat inexplicable. During this relatively brief span of time, more than 200 people were accused of witchcraft, and 20 were executed. The people of Salem were puritans, a religious group that splintered off of the catholic church following Martin Luther s post of the 95 theses. The people of the town would claim that those accused were bewitched and under the influence of an Evil Hand . Of the many accused, 19 were women, all of which were hanged. The twentieth was the husband of one of the convicted witches. Instead of being hanged, the man was gruesomely pressed to death by heavy weights placed on top of him. Accusing others of witchery became a way to enforce male superiority, as well as a tactic used to settle feuds between citizens. While the question may never be answered in complete certainty, the most plausible causes of the witchcraft trials in salem may still be found. Sexism and religion were among the main reasons for the witchcraft hysteria, the explanation as to what the cause of the strange symptoms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Mid-Life Crisis Mid life Crisis We as humans are constantly evolving each day. Our mentalities change with us for the better or worse. For many individuals, female or male, our mid life crisis affects middle age adults from ages 37 50 s. Everyone is different; people may experience a mild or severe case of a mid life crisis. The typical stereotype we know occurs when a big event has taken place in our lives such as retiring from a job, or even when a loved one passes on. Todays, the old midlife crisis is more likely to be called a midlife transition. Yale psychologist, Daniel Levinson states that experiencing a mid life crisis or transition is a normal and natural part of a human s life. • 52. A Short Note On Chronic And Chronic Illness Ms. Jones has a both acute and chronic illness which makes her situation more complex. The acute conditions have a great potential to be reversed; she has a critical hemoglobin (Hgb) level of 6.4 g/dl, a major infection and a left gangrenous extremity that requires emergent care. Treatment of the acute condition may be complicated by her chronic condition of diabetes. Immediate care is required to avoid the spread of the infection and a further decline in her Hgb level which could result in a fatality. Stabilization of her Hgb level and starting intravenous antibiotic therapy is necessary to avoid harm; decreasing her chance of cardiac arrest and systemic infection which would increase the likelihood of success in her case. This scenario does not mention her blood glucose (BG) level but another way harm can be avoided is by assuring her BG level is within an acceptable range, as well. Therefore, admitting her to a medical surgical unit to stabilize her Hgb and BG may be necessary prior to surgery. Although her anemia could be a result of her infection the practitioner should make an effort to determine the cause of her low Hgb levels to avoid further complications and develop future treatment plans. However, medical care would not be indicated, if Ms. Jones continues to refuse blood transfusions. Therefore, more of a palliative or hospice care path may be indicated versus medical and surgical acute care. According to our text, Ms. Jones has not had a mini mental ...
