3. Mesh Dependency And Simp Method
This approach is called Solid Isotropic Material with Penalty (SIMP), in which material is assumed
to be dependent upon density linearly. In accordance to the SIMP technique, the design variables
are a sum of material densities denoted as (ПЃ) that relates the stiffness of an element straight to
the density of that element (James , et al., 2014). According to (Gomes , et al., 2013) the three main
mathematical encounters with SIMP method are mesh dependency, checkboard patterns and local
minima. To compensate for mesh dependency and checkboard patterns instabilities, a well known
sensitivity filter brought forth by Bendose Sigmund is used (Gomes , et al., 2013). The local
minima problem is dealt with by a continuation method with various... Show more content on

In the construction of the topology optimisation problem, a material is assigned a density (ПЃ)
which is associated with a stiffness (E, E(ПЃ,q) = ПЃq E). This material density (ПЃ) can then be
used by each finite element in the initial topology problem design space with E as the stiffness for
the isotropic material. The problems can be solved as void if ПЃ = 0 or associated material if ПЃ
=1. Therefore, if ПЃ tends to be zero, the stiffness in that given element is zero, which means the
element can be deleted because it is no longer important for the structure (Rao, et al., n.d.).
However, if the density reaches one then that element is of dire importance to the structure and
cannot be deleted (Rao, et al., n.d.). If this simple formulation is used, the total elastic energy
measure (U) can be used as the objective function of the optimisation problem. This formulation is
written below: Minimise: U n=1.....,N Subject to: ∑_(N 1)^Nв

extended to suite multiple load case problems by minimising the weight of the total elastic energies.

4. Coral Reef Research Paper
Kelp forests and coral reefs both belong in delicate environments, which when disturbed can have
catastrophic consequences for both of them. Certain processes can cause the eradication of both
kelp forests and coral reefs, as will be discussed in the following paragraphs, including sewage
runoff, changes in water chemistry, and land derived material from soil erosion.
Coral reefs around the world are in constant decline, and this is a major problem. This is
happening due to the direct and indirect effects of overfishing, and pollution that has derived from
land. Both these factors have decimated the cover of coral reef species for over two centuries.
Often involved in the degradation of coral reefs is a shift from the usual extensive covers of the
coral, to extensive covers of microalgae. Examples from around the world have shown that corals
can persist and survive through the long term, chronic stressors, such as overfishing and
eutrophication, however cannot seem to survive and recover from short term, acute disturbances,
such as storm damage or freshwater run off). This is due to the ... Show more content on

This may explain the frequent dominance that micro algae have over coral. While neither enhanced
nutrients nor sedimentation are good for corals, their combined effect is far worse. Coral reefs
that experience loss of herbivores or flood plumes are subjected to very rapid micro algae growth
in the summer. If there has been a substantial reduction in herbivores, and no way to inhibit the
growth of algae, the increase in cover would still occur in certain places (i.e. the Great Barrier
Reef), with or without the change in nutrient availability. This indicates that increased nutrients in
the waters are not necessary for regime shifts in many

6. Social Injustice In If You Come Softly, By Jacqueline Woodson
Different is Unique
Social injustice affects many people around the world. Race, religion, class, gender, and sexual
orientation are all apart of social injustice, outside characteristics are the first thing one is judged
upon. Today in society people get judged and dehumanized everyday, because they are looked at
first by their outside characteristics. In the realistic fiction books If You Come Softly by
Jacqueline Woodson, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, and Miracle s boys also by
Jacqueline Woodson the authors demonstrate that social injustice can occur when individuals are
viewed by only their outward characteristics and beliefs.

When Rango adapts to the town, he becomes introduced to the government that is place at the town.
Often in human history, adaptations such as agriculture and stone tools will make bands of
people more efficient. When these people become more efficient, they can obtain a surplus of
resources. When bands of people have a surplus of resources they can start doing other things
than just hunting and gathering. Sooner or later people start specializing. When bands of people
start having certain jobs, a system for regulating human activities becomes needed. This system
of organization is known as government. In the film, the government is represented by the
mayor. The mayor though does a great job showing us that governments are often flawed.
Governments are designed for the common good, but power has it privileges. The turtle learns
of the privileges of power, which gives him an extremely human characteristic, greed. Greed is
the source of many falls of government, as it is in Rango. The Roman Empire is an example,
because they were so greedy and wanted to keep expanding their empire, they expanded too far
and fell apart. Also, many countries start wars over resources that they already have; they just want
more. Wars can drain a country until collapse, and because the government decides that they will
fight the war, their greed is at fault. The mayor gets run out of town because he is greedy for a
better civilization than the one

9. Electricity And Its Effects On Our Lives
Most people in this world use electricity in their daily lives and surely most of them would not
survive in a world where there was none. In other words, to most people electricity is vital to
daily living. It is essential because it allows us to do things in faster and more effectively.
Personally, I cannot imagine living on this planet and not having a computer, a television, a
radio, a stove, etc. Without all of these tools daily tasks as simple as cooking a meal would be
much harder and would most likely not taste as good because it would have to be cooked on top of
a fire. If electricitydid not exist we would also not be able to see during the night time unless we
had a candle or fire stick, which would not last too long and would not light very far. To most
people electricity provides with a form of communication with their loved ones. For example,
some people use Skype on their computer, and in this process of communication electricity is
used. If this technology did not exist people would not be aware or in contact with their relatives
and friends that are not near them. Electricity is also the main reason out houses are powered up
and we are able to see clearly at night. For these reasons, it s likely that most people are grateful to
have electricity in their lives.
Although it may seem like a simple topic it is in fact the opposite. The history of electricity goes
way back and has many contributors that helped to generate the technology we have today, that we

Abstract
The purpose of the research How has Palestinian application for UN membership and statehood
recognition affected the advancement of the peace process between Israel and Palestine? was to
provide a thorough examination of the Arab Israeli conflict and estimate the possible courses of its
development in case of UN interference into the matter.
The method used in the process of investigation consisted in accessing English and Israeli websites,
including the official website of the Parliament of Israel, in order to collect the necessary
information on the issue. A vast amount of opinions was gathered and applied in the research, that
helped to create the holistic picture of the problem under consideration.

Camp David peace process * 1982 Lebanon War (the fifth war) * 1993 2000 Oslo peace process *
2000 2005 The Second Intifada (the sixth war)
Despite the long history of confrontation the main points of controversy remained unchanged. They
are: * the status of Jerusalem * Palestinian refugees * the Israeli settlements * the borders
Each period of the conflict was characterized by either escalation or reduction of tension, but since
it s not the main concern of this research, we will only consider some of the agreements signed by
the opposing sides, in order to show what attempts had been made to resolve the conflict before
Palestine turned to the UN for assistance.
Subheading 1: The attempts to negotiate peace between Israel and Palestine.
One of the main attempts to resolve the conflict was the Oslo Agreement that was signed in
September 1993 in Washington and was supposed to settle the arguments between the two
countries. For Israel, that always considered PLO to be a terrorist organization and refused any
diplomatic contacts with it, it was a tough political decision. According to the agreement the PLO

of African Americans safer. The primary sources from Wells, Washington, Turner, Du Bois, and
Harper showed their separate opinions on how to better the lives of African Americans, and each
person had positives and negatives, but the alternative offered by Ida B. Wells would have caused
larger problems between the black and white communities. Two of the alternatives proposed were
considered radical and almost dangerous to the African Americancommunity. The first radical idea
was proposed by Ida B. Wells. She believed that the African American population needs to stand up
against the government to show that the lynching and unjust treatment in America is unfair. Wells
was famous for her boycotting of the railroads, and she wanted every household to have a gun just
in case of emergencies involving the white people. These ideas were very radical for the time
period because she wanted people to hurt others first, she famously states, The strong arm of the law

16. Family Therapy And The Family
Family therapy is essential to working with clients because it helps social workers connect the
patterns within each family. According to Nichols, family therapy considers how problems may be
a product of the relationships surrounding them (p. 50). It can help health professionals understand
why there is problematic behavior in familymembers through the context of the family dynamics
and relationships. Family therapy is how we aid our clients in understanding these relationships,
and how we help them solve and work through the family problems. This paper will discuss, assess,
and provide treatment goals for the Taylor family using the Structural Family Therapy perspective.
Family Intervention Model Structural Family Therapy and Bowen Family Therapy are two useful
intervention models that help families with their problems. However, each model addresses these
problems in a different way. The Structural Family Therapy model looks at the problem through the
relationships within each of the family members and the subsets of the family (Fredricks, 2014).
Structural Family Therapy recognizes that the family may operate according to generic or
distinctive house rules. The point of Structural Family Therapy is to remodel the family system into
a healthier one. Bowen Family Therapy looks at how the family dynamics, values, morals, and
relationships are passed down through each generation, and how it affects the overall family unit
(Brown, 1999). It looks at the multigenerational

EFFECTIVE SCIENCE COMMUNICATION:
Effective science communication is essential because it allows scientists to communicate
important knowledge and beneficial findings in a clear, easily understood way to the masses
(Burns, O Connor, Stocklmayer, 2003). When scientists are able to translate technical jargon into
plain language for non experts, they are able to dispel myths incorrect beliefs more effectively and
convincingly. This would increase erudition and quality of life in society as a whole, as people are
able to make sound, informed decisions. (Aguinis, Pierce, Bosco, Dalton, Dalton, 2011)

The murder of James Byrd, the Howard Beach incident, and the shooting in Ferguson are some of
the most infamous racially motivated hate crimes. But, one of the most important things to note is
the violent uproar each of these events caused within the African American community. In the novel
Frankenstein, Mary Shelley illuminates the effects of racial prejudice by emphasizing the Creature
s shift in character as he is continually rejected by society, the DeLacey s, and his creator. Similarly
to modern day racism, the Creature s hatred towards mankind is fueled by his desire for
acceptance. He is forced into the archetype of The Monster; initially good, turned against the world
by the absence of love in his life.

This ignorance breeds fear and hatred in the human race causing the creature to lash out against
humanity, in fear of being rejected and tormented. Personality and appearance are two very
different things; human beings need to distinguish that fact. This same discrimination appears in
today s society, it may not be as prominent as it was in Mary Shelley s time, nevertheless, it still
occurs.
This fear and rejection of the Creature is seen not only in the different people the Monster
encounters throughout his travels, but also in his creator. Frankenstein is unable to stand the sight
of the creature stating, its unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes

19. Doing Business In China Summary
Prior to reading the Harvard Business Review on Doing Business in China, I assumed that
business was a universal thing around the world. I assumed that business was the same in all
countries. I assumed that every country had the same end goals when it came to business. As a
result, I assumed that all countries followed a similar template for how business negotiations work.
I was under the assumption that business was all about numbers and money; I didn t expect to see
so much energy focused on creating relationships. I originally assumed Chinawas a very strict and
numbers based country when it came to business. In my mind, China was this giant country where
everything is made and manufactured at a lower price. As a result, I assumed that... Show more

Pepsi has been unsuccessful at selling this product (In China, Coke Fights to Stay Ahead of

Coca Cola is actually more common than Pepsi.
One of my favorite parts of this book was learning about how advertising differs in China. In
America, advertising is flashy. Many advertisements feature celebrities in hopes of gaining
consumers attention. Americans buy products they see celebrities using in hopes of becoming
more like the famous people they see using the products. This is very different from advertising
in China. In China, ads place a large focus on the facts. Product advertisements include the
features and specifications of a product. People in China want to know what the product is, how
it is used and how it works. There is less of an emphasis on trying to make a products look cool
instead the goal is to show the product and help it gain

21. Essay The Danger in Youth Sports
It was a bright, sunny, hot day at the end of august. Our football team had an amazing offensive
line as we were stacked with linemen each exceeding over 200 pounds. There were many pressures
on us to be a very good team and they pushed us all very hard to be the best. Practice five days a
week with lifting on the other two days, no days off was our motto! Our scrimmage had gone very
well that day and as it was coming to an end, the starters were out and we were taking our pads off
when I heard my coach yell from the side that one of the players got a stinger and he needed me
back in. I threw my pads back on and went in. The play was called and the ball was run to my side.

Not only coaches, but parents are very aggressive when it comes to sports and it puts a lot of
pressure of the kids who play it and suck all the fun out of the love of the game. Children are
physically and verbally abused to be the best and can be discouraged at a very young age and
have low self esteem. Injuries are at an all time high and this is very dangerous for the
development of kids. Children face verbal and physical abuse at a young age because of overly
competitive parents and coaches and because of that, they never learn the most important thing
about playing sports, having fun. Youth sports have been around since the early to mid 1900s and
have become in institution, especially in North America. Sports such as baseball, hockey, football,
soccer and many others accumulate 44 million kids per year. Little league baseball was created by
Carl Stotz in 1939 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. As of 2014, there are 500,000 organized little
league baseball teams in the United States alone. The organization of little league baseball has
now spread over the whole world where they compete in the little league world series. The first

Moving to North Carolina In different parts of the world, people do things differently. Someone
from the United States is not going to say hi the same way someone in Europe will. In the
United States people from New York are not going to be the same as people from North Carolina.
This was a big change for me when I moved from New York to North Carolina. People in the south
have a different dialect than from people in New York. When I first moved to North Carolina it
was a different place. I was used to the buildings and the busy highways, and when I moved here
it was nothing like that, it was very open with farms and golf courses. The surroundings were not
the only thing that changed people from the south were completely different. The first couple of
weeks living here, I just thought that people did not know how to speak. I was thirteen at the time
and I was very ignorant. I thought people in North Carolina were just stupid. I remember walking
into a Walmart and buying a few items, then checkout. The cashier was a big old women with short
black hair. She said, Your change is eight dollars and fifty two cents.
I just looked at that women and thought she was from a different country, she did not sound like

PROTECTION PROGRAMS FOR RED WOLVES
The red wolf is one of the world s most endangered creatures. The red wolf used to be very
abundant in the southeastern part of the United States, now only about 200 red wolves exist in
the United States according to the Wolf Conservation Center. In 1973 the red wolves were
declared endangered in the wild. Are the protective programs for the red wolves actually
benefiting the red wolf population and helping it grow? Red wolves have become endangered
because of many reasons. One of these reasons are predator control programs. Some people
believed that the red wolves were killing cattle and causing cattle loss in a large area, this led to
people killing them for money because the misunderstood the red wolves. Their population was
also affected by the clearing of land and other projects such as, mining, and the construction of
roads. As a result, the area where red wolves are found has been drastically decreased. Some
people also believe that red wolves mating with coyotes because of population loss is a leading
cause that the red wolf population is suffering. Another reason is the red wolves wandering into

Tragedies While Climbing Mount Everest Are Caused by Human Error
Especially in terrible weather, every second counts while nearing the top of Mount Everest on an
expedition. A step in the wrong place or a rope hooked to the wrong crag may send a climber
falling thousands of feet into a deep crevasse. Turning an oxygen level the wrong way may leave
the air non breathable to a climber after a few short minutes. These errors happen every season on
Everest, no matter what the conditions are. Whether errors in judgement or just simple mistakes,
accidents on Mount Everest are caused by human error.
During pushes up the mountain, it is easy for climbers to make subtle decisions that may have
grave consequences later on the hike. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other physical errors involved the precious resource of oxygen atop the mountain. In one instance,
guide Andy Harris refused to believe that a portion of the oxygen canisters stored at the South
Summit contained oxygen, often reporting There s no oxygen here! (qtd. in ITA, 195) After
research and tests other climbers deduced that there was in fact a supply of oxygen just below
the top of the mountain where Harris stood. The misunderstanding by Harris was likely caused
by a faulty oxygen register, but his unwillingness to believe his own tests were wrong confused
many struggling climbers. Harris caused additional trouble while descending the mountain; he
turned Jon Krakauer s oxygen level in the wrong direction on his tank. This caused Krakauer to
have a sudden surge of pure oxygen followed by his canister running out of the gas. The mistakes
by Harris and Krakauer caused Krakauer s schedule of receiving oxygen to be thrown off balance,
causing his descent to be severely tougher than expected.
Climbers neglect of their own physical limitations also caused grief during the climb and descent.
The harsh winds and temperatures of the high altitudes unexpectedly tortured Beck Weathers, who
had undergone eye surgery months before the climb. The conditions caused Beck to lose almost all
of his vision, which obviously impacted his attempt at descending the mountain. If Beck had taken

25. The Effects Of Alcohol On Alcohol Abuse
As of January 2015 alcohol related deaths were represented as accountable for approximately 6%
of deaths worldwide. That is 3.3 million deaths from alcohol related car accidents to alcohol
poisoning. The consumption of alcohol can be tied with being a factor in a variety of diseases,
disabilities, tragedies, and crimes. An estimate of over 76 million people suffer from alcohol
dependence and abuse. Consumption of alcohol can become a serious threat to personal and
public health when an individual engages in activities such as binge drinking or drinking while
driving. In other words, harmful drinking is anytime an individual becomes unable to have full
perception and control of his/her surroundings because of alcohol. Harmful drinking can also be
defined as a pattern of alcohol consumption causing health problems that are directly connected to
alcohol. Underage drinking contributes to the 3 leading causes of death (unintentional injury,
homicide, and suicide) among persons aged 12 to 20 years. Most commonly teens experience
acute intoxication from binge drinking. On average, underage drinkers consume more drinks per
drinking occasion than adult drinkers. In 2010, there were approximately 189,000 emergency
rooms visits by persons under age 21 for injuries and other conditions linked to alcohol. The abuse
of alcohol in teens around the world is a significant problem to our society for the safety of others

Due to the tremendous impact that our employees have on local traffic, I recommend the use of
shuttle buses for safety purposes. Since the area has many busy roads, hence leading to
congestion problems, most companies are turning to shuttle services in order to minimize risk.
Offering shuttle buses has many benefits to both the employee and employer. First, there is
increased employee productivity since the employees have a lot of spare time from avoiding
congested roads. Cases of tardiness will be reduced since all employees will have a scheduled
bus picking them up daily. Employees could be more disposed to this solution because it will
allow them to save money on fuel and other expenses such as parking. Offering commuter services
could also be cost saving to the company since it will not be required to construct a parking area or
offer mileage expenses to employees with cars. These are all rational reasons as to why the
company should acquire shuttle buses for its employees. Solution 2: Telecommuting The data
illustrates that the number of employees that believe telecommuting is not an option, is not as high
as the number of employees that stated that nothing could encourage them to take public
transportation. Between telecommuting and providing subsidized bus passes, based on the data
provided above, employees would be more inclined to telecommuting. Just to name a couple of
benefits of telecommuting; employees will have improved

The Clash of Chivalry
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, chivalry is a mounted man at arms in knightly skill or a
gallant or distinguished gentleman with the spirit, or customs of medieval knighthood and the
qualities of the ideal knight: chivalrous conduct (Merriam Webster
Dictionary). At the beginning of the Middle Ages, chivalry was strictly pigeon holed by its
followers and members into only protecting religious pilgrimages and to maintain the church of
God, to serve in valor and combat, and to bind oneself to courtly etiquette and the respect and
protection of women. Many of these beliefs and ideals stemmed from medieval literature, especially

Throughout his reign, he conquered many countries with great glory and pomp and his knightly
valor (Chaucer, 892). The roles of a chivalric knight are revealed in Theseus when a group of
women from Thebes, captured earlier by a man named Creon, come to court and upon their
knees and the death of their husbands, beg Theseus for mercy and protection against their
becoming widows; now help us lord, for it is within your power (Chaucer, 947). Most women at
the time had little privilege; women had to have permission to marry, and were not able to leave
their husbands through divorce, for women were viewed as property. They were unable to own
any property or land unless upon their husband s death. For a knight and a man of chivalric code,
Theseus vowed his respect and protection of the women; as a true knight, he would strive to take
such vengeance upon the tyrant Creon... and very swiftly, without more delay, he unfurled his
banner and rode forth to Thebes (Chaucer, 974). Theseus continues to follow the distinguished
ideals of knighthood when he completes victory and valor against Creon, like a worthy knight.
Upon Creon s defeat, two young knights who are wounded, both bearing arms and richly
fashioned, are encountered. Brought to Theseus, they are taken to prison, upon no ransom, and
are brothers named Palamon and Arcite. Chaucer introduces Emily, a love interest to both
Palamon and Arcite, and alludes to the sense of women being placed upon a pedestal when he
references Emily to being fairer to see than the lily upon its green stalk, and fresher than May with
its new flowers (her cheeks competed with a rose I know not which was the fairer) (Chaucer,
1055). This is where Chaucer connects chivalry and the codes of knighthood with the romanticized
expectation of courtly love. Woman is being portrayed in a perfect, prosthetic way and Palamon,

30. Inadequate Participation
One common reason for unethical decision making among practicing psychology professionals
within a field such as criminal psychology, for example, is incompetency. Incompetency can be
shown when professionals don t receive the adequate training necessary to handle ethical dilemmas
or when professionals attempt to handle a dilemma that they believe they are experienced for when
in reality they aren t. One condition under which professionals are more vulnerable to making an
ethical decision is inadequate anticipation. Inadequate anticipation leaves professionals more
vulnerable because they don t expect the possibility of a specific dilemma arising, they completely
underestimate the seriousness of the dilemma, or they believe taking certain precautions seem
unnecessary or require too much time and effort. It seems as though individuals would possess
insight about flaws in their intellectual and social skills, but individuals tend to be unaware of their
incompetence (Dunning, Johnson, Ehrlinger, Kruger, 2003). Not only do poor... Show more content

A universal heavy cream substitute is fat free half and half, which is considerably healthier,
since it has fewer calories and less fat per cup. It also whips a fluffy topping, just like 1% milk, and

For a great heavy cream substitute, you can also whip some 1% milk, using a stick blender, a
hand held electric beater, or a stand mixer. Some people use a milk frother, a special tool used in
making espresso to make whipping easier. However, your topping will be bubbly and not as thick
as heavy whipped cream. To make better froth, microwave the milk until it boils, then whip it again.
Add some stevia sweetener to mimic the flavor of dessert toppings, without increasing the calories.
Part 3: Cooking Substitute for Heavy Cream
Heavy cream is often used in pastas, soups, and sauces to create a thick consistency and a full
bodied flavor, with all the fat and calories. To achieve a similar taste and consistency with fewer
calories, use low fat cream cheese instead, using half the amount called for in the recipe. To
reduce the calories further, mix 1% milk with cornstarch (at a ratio of 1 cup to 1 tablespoon), and
use as a heavy cream substitute. Milk and cornstarch thicken food and works better in sweet dishes,

also limits movement around the spirit world (we see that Chihiro has to utilize a train system in

Mostly people believe there is a drop in oxygen and blood flow after a meal which leads to after
meal drowsiness and sleepiness. But this is wrong because even though there is an increase in
blood flow due to passage of food in the gastrointestinal tracts, it is generally from the skeletal
muscle tissue and also by increasing the rate of blood pumped per minute by the heart.
Tryptophan present in the Turkey
Popular myth among everyone is that turkey is very rich in tryptophan which when consumed
during a Thanksgiving Day result in more than usual sleepiness and food coma. This is because
tryptophan produces serotonin which is associated with relaxation and sleepiness. However, the
amount of tryptophan present in turkey is similar to chicken, beef, and other meats. The quantity
required to raise brain serotonin level cannot be achieved by eating servings of turkey.

37. Taking An Auto Loan For A Bad Credit
Do you believe that because of your bad credit, you cannot qualify for a bad credit car loan?
Then think again. Many lenders will not lend to persons with bad credit which is normally a
score of 620 or less. There are however, a number of companies that will provide you with the
auto loan facility that you can afford. There are also those that will seek to provide you with the
car loanthat you want. There is a big difference between the two. The former will provide that
which you can safely afford to purchase a car and is based on the information you you supply
such as your credit score, your monthly income and expenses. The latter will seek to supply you
with the money you want, even if it will further harm your credit rating. Taking an auto loan that
you can afford may not get you the car of your dreams, but it can get you a car and have you
moving about, while helping you to build your credit.
Now, as eluded to earlier, there are lots of online sites that will offer to provide you with the loan
you want and guess what.... They will require that you supply them with sensitive information such
as your Social Security Number (SSN) among other information. Now to avoid falling victim to the
identity theft vultures out there, I strongly suggest that you research the credibility of any site
before you give out your information. Apart from the Google / fraud test, you can utilize the
services of sites such as ranking.com, and enter the URL of the site in question, and

38. Descriptive Essay About My First Plane
As I scanned my boarding pass and walked down the tunnel hallway that led to the airplane, my
heart began to beat a little faster in my chest and my hands got clammy. I had never been outside
of the country before! After boarding the airplane, I sat down in my seat next to my dad, so
ecstatic to finally be on my way to Peru for my first mission trip! With the seat belt fastened
snugly across my hips and the cool air from the vents comfortably blowing on my face, I peered
out the window as the planetook off, my excitement growing as we rose up past the clouds into the
clear blue sky. Although it felt like any other normal flight, somehow I knew this one would be
different.
Shortly after we took off and reached a higher elevation, I put my tray table down in preparation for
the meal and drinks that were being served by the flight attendants. Rolling their food and drink
carts in front of them, the flight attendants slowly made their way down the aisle. Finally, they
reached my row and I received my first international flight meal mozzarella cheese, basil, and
tomato sandwich, a square of cheesecake, and a small chocolate. As I was unwrapping my
sandwich and getting ready to enjoy my meal, totally captivated by the newness and the excitement
of it all, the plane suddenly experienced some unexpected turbulence. Nothing crazy at first, only a
couple bumps that caused me to hold on to the arm rests and grow a little nervous. But then it
happened!
We dropped.

39. Sacraments As A Critical Part Of The Catholic Faith
Sacraments Sacraments are a critical part of the foundation of the catholic faith, but where did the
sacraments originate? Our faith comes from the preachings of Jesus but he never specifically
described the sacraments and how to perform them. There are seven sacraments in the catholic
church and three initiation sacraments, which must be completed in order to be a full member of
the church. These sacraments when completed together allow you t become one in God, but where
do the sacraments draw their power and how?
The first recorded baptism was performed by John the Baptist. John the Baptist is Jesus cousin and
was deemed the preparer for his cousin. John was called to prepare for the coming of the lord
and the kingdom of God as well warn people for their ultimate judgement. John called on his
followers to repent and make ready their hearts for the Lord, this was accomplished through
baptism. John would immerse his follower in the river Jordan; however, in order for the
sacrament to have validity multiple essential things must first be accomplished. John s followers
must have complete faith in his message of the Messiah; they must also recognize that this was a
sacrament of repentance that must lead to change. Confession was also a necessary part of John s
baptism and ultimately repentance and the forgiveness of sin. Through this process, one is able to
be renewed in the Lord and be prepared for the arrival of the Messiah and their final judgement. For

An Analysis of Value and Growth Investing
Saint Leo University
An Analysis of Value and Growth Investing
This essay will define and identify the differences between value stocks and growth stocks. It will
also explain the rationale that investors use for purchasing both value and growth stocks, and will
identify whether value or growth investing has worked best over the long term. In addition this
essay will provide incite as to which of the two investment methods I prefer and a justification for
this preference and lastly will identify a recent example of someone who can be described as a
value or growth investor and describe their successfulness with the method they chose.

This statement suggests that over the very long term that value investing would be best.
Value or Growth Investing My Preference Based on my research of the articles listed in my
references, I would have to say that I would prefer to invest in a mix of both value and growth
stocks. As an investor who does not have access to large amounts of capital, it simply makes more
sense to purchase value stocks at a lower price. However, recent trends suggest that growth stocks
are currently in the lead (Bresiger, 2014) so that would influence me to split my investment
amongst both styles.
Example of a Successful Value Investor As referenced earlier in this essay, Bruce Berkowitz is
described as a value investor. In fact, he has been considered one of the top value investors and
he won Institutional Investor s 2014 Money Manager of the Year award as was indicated in the
article, STOCK CHARACTER Value investor Bruce Berkowitz profits by sticking to his
convictions (Segal, 2013). He won this title through value investments he made in 2011 with
Bank of America and AIG. According to the article, investors had been badly burned by those
stocks in the financial crisis (Segal, 2013). However, financial stocks rallied and his Fund gained
35.54 percent in 2013, exceeding the 32.39 percent return of the Standard amp; Poor s 500 index

41. Whisking By Ehrenreich Summary
Ehrenreich discusses how the employers manage to disclose any information of pay to
applicants during interviews in this way: I have mentioned the way the hiring process seems
designed, in some cases, to prevent any discussion or even disclosure of wage whisking the
applicant from interview to orientation before the crass subject of money can be raised. Some
employers go further; instead of relying on the informal money taboo to keep workers from
discussing and comparing wages, they specifically enjoin workers from doing so. (207)
Ehrenreich uses a dash instead of a comma or a colon. Dashes aren t as formal as colons but
provide more emphasis than commas. She could have ended the sentence where the dash began
but she decided to include the part where applicants are rushed into orientation before the talk of
pay comes up. This dash made everything stop short. The author connects these two together to
create more emphasis on the crooked hiring process. It shows that she felt it necessary to bring
the actual process to surface because it is often hidden. The true intentions of employers had to be
exposed to show that many workers go into work blind of their actual pay. It reveals how unfair it
is for applicants. It felt as though the author was suddenly stopped... Show more content on

By using whisking , it implies that the applicants were rushed into orientation. This term is often
used in baking as well. It seems as if the author is making a comparison between the applicants
and the ingredients of a batter. Both belong in one whole mixture so they are rapidly whipped
together to make one. The goal for both scenarios is to have a finished product without any
complications. Money is often a problem that arises during the hiring process so the employers
hustle to avoid this complication. If the author was making this association, it implies that she feels
the applicants are just one piece of a whole and are not important as

42. Literary Context Of King Hezekiah Of Judah
Literary Context
2 Kings 19:15 19 contains various theology on prayer and also about who God is. The passage is
a simple prayer of King Hezekiah of Judah. And this passage is placed right between 2 King 19
which seems to be the middle of the story of King Hezekiah of Judah but this is the pivotal point
of the story. In addition, the passage shows the most critical and difficult state for Hezekiah. He is
cornered in by Sennacherib and there is no way out. 2 Kings 19:1 7 is about prophet Isaiah
encouraging Hezekiah that Judah will not be delivered by the hand of Sennacherib. And 2 Kings

This trait is different from the previous kings or any kings after Hezekiah. In addition, there is an
overlap of two kingdoms in 2 Kings 18:9 12, Judah and Samaria. However, the northern kingdom
Israel was exiled because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God and transgressed his
covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor
obeyed. Surely, author indicates that this is the clear reason why they were exiled by the
Assyrians and unless Judah realigned their hearts back to God, they would end up the same
way. In 2 Kgs 18:13 18, the author begins in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah. The author
shows that after six years of Samaria being exiled now they were in a grievous situation and
cornered in like Israel. All of their fortified cities had been captured. Then Hezekiah pays tribute
to stop the Assyrians to buy them some time before they eventually come to them. And he ends
up giving all the silvers and stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord. This
surely is not a picture of triumphant Israel but rather a defeated nation subdued by Assyrians. In 2
Kings 18:19, Rabshekah the messenger of Sennacherib comes and say to the officials on whom do
you rest this trust of yours? This is a claim against Hezekiah s alliance to King Egypt. Though they
have made a suzerain vassal relationship with Sargon, Hezekiah withheld the tributes and broke the
treaty with Assyria. Instead of trusting in

POLITEHNICA UNIVERSITY OF TIMISOARA

COST OF PRODUCTION
IORDAN ELVIS CRISTIAN
2nd YEAR, GROUP 1.1
TIMISOARA, 2013
INTRODUCTION
Cost is a sacrifice of resources to obtain a benefit or any other resource. For example in
production of a car, we sacrifice material, electricity, the value of machine s life (depreciation), and
labor wages etc. Thus these are our costs. Costs are usually classified as follows: * Product
cost(cost of production) * Period cost
In this paper, we will analyze the cost of production with all what it involves. For the beginning, it
is necessary to know that the cost of production is classified into:
Direct materials: Represents the cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider the following hypothetical example of a boat building firm. The total fixed costs, TFC,
include premises, machinery and equipment needed to construct boats, and are ВЈ100,000,
irrespective of how many boats are produced. Total variable costs (TVC) will increase as output
increases.
Plotting this gives us Total Cost, Total Variable Cost, and Total Fixed Cost.
Given that total fixed costs (TFC) are constant as output increases, the curve is a horizontal line on
the cost graph. The total variable cost (TVC) curve slopes up at an accelerating rate, reflecting the
law of diminishing marginal returns. The total cost (TC) curve is found by adding total fixed and
total variable costs. Its position reflects the amount of fixed costs, and its gradient reflects variable
costs. But, from an economical point of view, we cannot talk about fixed and variable costs without
taking into consideration the marginal costs. In fact, marginal cost is the cost of producing one extra
unit of output. It can be found by calculating the change in total cost when output is increased by
one unit.
It is important to note that marginal cost is derived solely from variable costs, and not fixed costs.
The marginal cost curve falls briefly at first, then rises. Marginal costs, as the economists say, are
derived from variable costs (mentioned above) and

two interviews conducted. Through this study, over 8 hours of data collection. The classes at both
these observation sites were in different material, one being Criminal Law and the other being
Immigration Law and Policy, which may have been a limitation. This may have been a limitation
because there may be different students oriented towards these areas of law that could have
affected their responses. In addition, there was an unequal gender distribution of interviewees,
considering that both were female. In addition, these two sites provided different sample sizes, the

Another credibility issue at these two observation sites is a difference in rankings, since the
University of California, Irvine School of Law is the twenty eighth best law school in the United
States, while no rank is published for Whittier Law School. There was also a bias in choosing both
these settings, given that they are both situated in Orange County. I am also an undergraduate
student at the University of California, Irvine, so I was familiar with the campus and the navigating
through the course schedules.
Implications
The findings of the current study have multiple purposes for the legal education system. These
results can be useful for current law school professors and students interested in pursuing a legal
education. Data shows that rankings have an impact on the prospective decisions of law students
and that it can shape their opinions on where to go to law school, but rejects important variables
that could affect the student s experience at the school. In expanding the variables taken into
consideration by these rankings, the U.S. News World Report could provide more realistic ratings
that enable students to choose a college that would be a good fit for them. Data shows the main goal
for law students is to become professionals and gain knowledge, instead of practicing law. Based on
these findings, it would be important to educate these students more about the legal professional
and other graduate programs during undergraduate education. Also,

Sage has been a part of Ojibwe culture for thousands of years. Sage is one the four main
medicines in Ojibwe culture along with tobacco, cedar, and sweet grass. In most Ojibwe
ceremonies, sage is used in the beginning of the ceremony to smudge the people attending the

the sage cleanses what is touched. Sage cleanses the ears so we can hear all things in a good way.
It cleanses out the mind so we can think good things with nothing negative. Traditionally, sage is

46. Minimum Wage and Poverty
Poverty is a significant topic that is being investigated, talked about and most importantly lived in
by millions in America. Many American citizens, specifically the children are not only living in
poverty, but they are living below the poverty line due to low minimum wage (Gidfar). A child
living in povertycan face serious problems in the future. Reducing poverty should not be charity
work. As citizens of the world it should be a social responsibility to find a way in which poverty
can no longer be a living status, especially for a developed country like America. It is one of the
top countries before Mexico with the highest rate of child poverty (Gidfar). In context, minimum
wagehas a large impact on poverty within a country, as the higher the minimum wagethe more
disposable income families have access to. The discussion of how the elasticity of demand of
unskilled workers determines whether or not the minimum wage should be raised to reduce child
poverty is essential when validating the relationship between the two variables (Rutkowski 7).
While the analysis of William Even and David Macpherson s study emphasizes the importance of
taking employment in to account as a variable as an indication to prevent job loss (2), through the
clarification that although the United States view child poverty as being an intractable problem
(WaldFogel 3), there is evidence to support that a raise in the disposable income of families can
lead to reduction in child poverty (Dahl and

Imagine if someone was sentenced to forty years in prison, for a crime they did not commit.

they are finally their lives are exposed for their actions. James Garfield and Boo Radley both

It is definitely unlikely that everyone at my French school seamlessly switched to Turkish in my
presence. After a brief explanation that they most likely did not speak Turkish to me, I was
appeased. In second grade, I remember my difference becoming relevant once again. Suddenly, I

my distant nationality was more relevant than I had previously thought. I was the American in a
French school, and that was a bad thing to be. I clearly remember my teacher openly mocking
Americans. Initially, I thought nothing of it, I laughed with the class, not necessarily realizing that
I was American, that I was exactly who my teacher was mocking. Even though I didn t really

upon a certain race or religion deeming themselves better than everyone else. No one war, race or

superiority complex has caused.
Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It shows Spiegelman conversing
with and recording what his father says about what he lived through being a Polish Jew and
Holocaust survivor. The graphic novel uses postmodern techniques in its representation of races of
humans as diverse animals: the Jews are characterized as mice, the German soldiers as cats, and
the non Jewish Poles are seen as pigs. Maus can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spiegelman s father was treated inhumanely because of his religion while Washington was
treated unfairly due to the color of his skin. Both men wrote about what happened and how they
chose to rise above their persecution and the injustice of how they are being treated instead of
being walked all over. Vladek says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and
poured again so everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the
Nazi brutality towards the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews, treating them
like animals. They strip them of any semblance of their humanity, even in death. They burned the
bodies disrespectfully, and then took what was left to burn the others. Each account of these
authors harsh lives is about something that they cannot control being hated for: color of skin and
religious choice. Both authors use their past experiences to show how racism and religious
persecution affect a person long after the fact. While reading Maus, the reader moves through
several different time periods: the pre Holocaust, the actual Holocaust, and the post Holocaust.
