Privacy, Crime, And Prevention
Privacy, Crime, and Prevention
While there are many crimes committed on a daily basis in various forms, people who use
computers seldom think about computer crimes, and what measures need to be taken in order to
prevent those type of crimes. Also many people who use computers are not aware of the privacy
and security measures that are taken advantage of. In order to handle these situations, it is
important to be educated on topics such as how to protect your privacy (and who is able to view
your personal information without you knowing), the crimes committed dealing with malware and
other virus agents, and how to utilize tools and stay away from scams that you may encounter.
These topics are important and should be addressed to all of the public, but particularly to children
and the elderly who are the least of informed on the ever changing technological world and how it
can directly effect them if precautions are not taken.
Protect yourself
According to Norton, a well known security software company, always ensure that your computer
software is up to date and apply patches to the software when it becomes available to lessen a
hacker attack on your system. Having up firewalls will discourage the hacker and motivate them to
find a less vulnerable victim. Also change your password every 90 days, at least, into words or
phrases that are not in the dictionary.

The Dynamics Of Political Correctness Essay
Correctly Political: A Look into the Dynamics of Political Correctness
Every American probably knows what it means to be politically correct.
After all, we hear about it on the news almost every night. We have to be constantly aware of
whether or not something we say or do is going to offend someone. This mode of communication is
present in every aspect of our lives, from the most formal to the most informal situations.
This paper will answer questions on the origin of the term politically correct and the applications of
the communication pattern it refers to: who started it, who is doing it, and why. Is political
correctness a good idea? Is it too pervasive? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It evolved into a term of disapproval among leftists for those whose line toeing fervor was too
much to bear. (Richer and Weir 53) Thus, the expression went from having a positive meaning to
having a negative meaning.
What we think of today as political correctness (PC) began in a recognizable form during the
social movements of the late 1960 s. PC was used as a self critique by social movements, each
saw itself as politically/ethically correct. PC referred to the culture or practices of the women s
movement or gay liberation or a Marxist party, but not to a common culture cross cutting these
movements. There existed a shifting line of conflict between movements, and groups could signify
affinity or hostility with another group by proclaiming these movements politically correct. (Richer
and Weir 53) Paul Berman, a well known essayist, has a very interesting view of the social
movement culture of the 1960 s:
The left wing uprising of circa 1968 had two phases, which were in perfect discord. The first
phase was an uprising on behalf of the ideals of liberal humanism an uprising on behalf of the
freedom of the individual against a soulless system. The second phase was the opposite, at least
philosophically. It was a revolt against liberal humanism.
Is said, in effect: Liberal humanism

Acheta Domesticus Lab Report
For this lab 6 male Acheta domesticus were isolated in plastic containers, each was placed in a
container that was 5 cm height and had 5.5 cm radius. Each of these containers was punctured
with 10 15 minuscule holes for breathing on the lid and 5 8 holes on the sides. Inside of each
container a damp paper towel was placed on the bottom and 2 pieces of food were placed on the
paper towel. The Acheta domesticus were kept isolated in their personal containers for 7 days. At
the end of these 7 days we split the 6 A. domesticus into 3 groups of 2. One of the two was marked
with a paint pen, this marked male was the intruder . The remaining food was removed from the
containers. The intruder is then placed into the container that holds the other

Analysis Of Matthew Carter s Works
Letters; they don t just make up the words on a page or a screen. Forms, counterforms and
volumes of shape that interact with other characters and space are important considerations in a
character. Matthew Carter took the in depth knowledge he gained of the physical forms of letters
and transcribed new and ever lasting typefaces from it to become one of the most impactful
typography designers of current times.
From the Beginning Born in 1937 in London, Carter grew up with an expanded knowledge of
typography. His father, Harry, worked in the same field, designing books and type. He was also a
type founding and punchcutting historian. Upon leaving school, he worked in the Netherlands at
the EnschedГ© type foundry in Haarlem. This was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This style was not readily available, nor exploited much in Britain. He created several typefaces,
including one used in the Heathrow Airport terminal. Carter moved back to New York after his
years of freelancing in Europe and worked for Mergenthaler Linotype, where he created Snell
Roundhand, a script that perfectly illustrated the comparative virtues of photosetting (Design
Museum 1), as well as Helvetica Condensed and various foreign typefaces. By the 1970s, he was
back in London, still working with Linotype but also freelancing. In 1974 he created Bell
Centennial (Figure 1) for AT T which is still used in telephone directories today. After years of
freelance work, Carter eventually moved back to the United States and established his own
company, Bitstream, in Massachusetts. When traditional typesetting became less profitable and the
digital age set it, Bitstream created a collection of digital typefaces. A decade after its creation,
Carter left Bitstream to pursue more design work.
The Phone Book Bell Centennial was the first digital typeface design that Matthew Carter worked
on in 1974. Originally, AT T had wanted to use Helvetica. Erik Spiekermann notes that Helvetica is
meant to be consistent and homogeneous. The letters are all similar to one another. In his TED talk,
Carter mentions the constraints a designer has to conform to at times, unlike fine art. This is a
situation that had to be

Personal Theology Paper
Introduction My personal general theology is based on the scripture John 3:16, For God so loved
the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but
have everlasting life. This has always impacted the way that I have talked about God to others. I ve
spoken about Godin a manner of love because He loves us enough to give His only begotten son for
our salvation. God loves us enough to make our process toward salvation easier by allowing our
requirement to merely believe in Him. God loves us enough to allow our souls not to perish, if we
believe in Him. God s love is the foundation of my personal theology. In this project I will cover
areas that relate to God s love for us. The topics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This model begins with special revelation, which is God revealing himself to the world and
general/nature in which God reveals himself in things that we view such as sunsets, clouds, and the
sun, along with various other things. Christ is then shown in this Classic Model as fully man and
fully God. There are four sources of authority that are governed by the Holy Spirit in this model. In
Chapter 6 of The Christian Theology textbook the four sources are listed; scripture (old and new
testament), tradition (handing over, handing down, or handing on ideas/activities), reason (science
and sociology), and religious experience (ineffability, noetic quality, transiency, and passivity).
These four sources are an important aspect in the Classic

The Study Of Fermentas Coli Origame
In the current study domain III of PE was deleted and replaced by STXA, by the recombinant DNA
technology. STXA was transferred across the cell membrane using domain IIof PE. This domain
facilitates the internalization of extracellular compounds into the cytosol, and can translocate
heterologous molecules into the target cells(15). Then PE II and STX are connected to fragment
variable (Fv) domains of herceptin and create a (single chain) scFv immunotoxin(16).
Material and Method
1.1. Material and Reagent
Restriction enzyme was obtained from Fermentas Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. (Massachusetts,
USA). Bacterial strain (E. coli Origami B), SKBR3 and MCF 7 cell lines were purchased from
Pasteur institute of Iran (Tehran, Iran). Kanamycin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
166 amino acids of STXA (accession No. P09385) and the 143 amino acids of the PE ( accession
No. P11439) were selected and fused by ASGGPE linker to the C terminus of the vl. This chimeric
construct synthesized by Biomatic company (Wilmington, USA).
1.3. transformation and Expression of recombinant protein
The synthetic scFv(herceptin) PE stxa chimeric gene was cloned in a pET28a expression vector.
Recombinant vector pET28a scFv(herceptin) stxa was digested by BamHI and xhoI restriction
enzymes and 1683 pb DNA sequence was obtained. Then recombinant vector pET28a was
transformed into E. coli strain BL21(DE3) by elcteroporation. The transformed colonies were
cultured in 5 mL of Lysogeny broth (LB) containing 20 mg/mL kanamicyn at 37 В°C. When
OD600 reached 0.6 0.8, 1 mM IPTG was added. The culture was incubated at 37 В°C for 6 h. Then,
the cells were collected by centrifugation at 3,000Г—g/10 min. Then, expression of scFv(herceptin)
stxa) chimeric construct was analyzed by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE).
Different IPTG concentrations (0.5, 0.6, 0.8, and 1 mM), and various induction duration (2, 5, 7,
16 H), at two separate culture temperature (30 and 37 В°C), were tested for optimization of protein
expression.

Cultural Competence And The Field Of Law And Within The...
Part I
To start a discussion a cultural competence in the field of law and within the courtroom, it s
important to establish the definition of culture in clarity. Culture is a dynamic value system of
learned elements, with assumptions, conventions, beliefs and rules permitting members of a group
to relate to each other and to the world, to communicate and to develop their creative potential.
(Obialo) Religion, food, language, customs, unspoken values and beliefs, clothing and other
outward expressions make up a group s culture. There are four key components within cultural
competence. Those four key components include awareness of your own cultural worldview; your
attitude toward differences in cultures; your knowledge of different practices and worldviews
culturally; and your communication skills cross culturally. For example, take a case of divorce and
child custody involving an Indian couple. The facts exemplified how a judge s lack of knowledge to
the culture and practices of the individuals could result in an inaccurate conclusion. In this case,
the husband testifies that his wife was hysterical and claimed that she worshiped blocks of blood
and practiced voodoo. His testimony casted common Hindu practices in an unfavorable light. This
was his scheme to make the courts believe his wife was emotionally volatile and was not fit to
parent their child. However, it would be a great mistake to depend on the husband s testimony as the
authority one the significance

conceivably spend months attempting to see all that it has to offer, a dream vacation of 14 days

time can contribute to the desire to visit this wonderful country or if it will prove to be too
financially strenuous for one person to undertake. The examination lists an outline of require

as they pertain to finances and investments. The assessment will ultimately illuminate the relation
to the value of money over time and a desirable serviced or good(s). The examination will also
draw attention to how predictive use of finances can determine the end value of investment,
which in this case relates to the desire (or not) for the aforementioned dream vacation. Estimated

Rockets are amazing machines that are capable of carrying man into space and one day beyond.
This report will cover the history of rockets, how and why they fly, what they are made of, and
the different types of fuel that they use. Rockets have been around for centuries understanding
how they fly, what they are made of, and the kinds of fuel that they use will allow mankind to
make better improvements in the future. The history of rockets dates back centuries to when the
Chinese used them to launch fireworks. Dr. Robert H. Goddard is known as the ,father of
modern rocketry. He was the first man to successfully build and launch a rocket powered by
liquid fuel (American Rocketry Pioneer, 9/25/15). His findings are still used in modern day
rockets all around the world. Ultimately it was his finding that lead to President Nixon s approval
of the space shuttle program in 1972 (Kerod, 2005). Even though Nasa had already been established
they didn t have a space shuttle program. When the first rocket was launched all that was retrieved

Thrust is a propulsive force that allow something to move (How Thing Fly, 9/25/15). Lift is un
upward movement that acts against gravity. As a rocket travels into space there are two major
factors that work against thrust and lift. These forces are drag and gravity. Drag is the force that
works against thrust it is a pulling or slowing force. Gravity is the downward force that act
against lift; gravity is the downward motion that pulls mass to the earth or some other large mass.
Rockets also have two solid fuel boosters that create a large amount of lift and propulsion to rocket

Reflection Paper On Being A Nurse
Being a nurse takes its toll on emotions and really puts through tough times with dying patients or
patients that are just plain out rude. And at first, I thought that being emotionally involved with
the patient was not allowed because it made it harder to do your job. I was wrong being
emotionally involved makes you a better nurse and makes it seem like you are an actual person
and not a mechanical being taking care of patients. We went to say goodbye. We went there for
comfort from our family. We went there to give comfort before the end. Arriving in Wyoming at
around eleven we wanted to see my auntRitti before she died. Getting to the hospital I was calm
and collected but as soon as I walked into the room my emotions were all scrambled. Her head
tilted back and her mouth was wide open so she could breathe, she was skinnier, pale, and there
were bags under her eyes. She was lying there motionless, the only thing that she could move were
her eyes. I only knew one way to handle a situation dealing with death, cry. After saying hello to my
aunt Ritti I said hello to my aunts Tuesday and Rhonda, uncles Daryl and David, and my mother s
parents. We stayed in the hospital talking and catching up and including my aunt in the
conversation. Around one in the morning my uncleDaryl sent us to go get some rest because the
plan was to see her off. The next morning we got up at six, arrived at seven and when we got into
her room my uncle Daryl said she had declined in the night so

Sex and Dementia. Should People with Dementia Be Able To Consent To Having Sex With Their
Loved Ones?
A big controversy that people around the world argue is whether a person with a mental disability
such as, dementia, should continue to have sexual relationships with their lover. Dementia is ...a
chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and
marked by memory disorders, personality disorders, and impaired reasoning (Google search,
dementia definition). In my opinion, I don t think people with dementia should be having sex
because of the many consequences this can cause to a relationship or a person such as, the loss of
memory, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That would be taking advantage of that person and will also be rape (Ina Jaffe, Can a person with
dementia consent to sex). On top of all that, the person just, gets away with it with no problems at
all and nothing to stop that freak since the person with dementia had no signs of resistance or
anything... Another thing, I don t think institutions where it is allowed/encouraged to have sex
should be allowed. What if that person has a loved one(s) at home that STILL HAVE A
RELATIONSHIP GOING!?!? I understand that intimacy with a person when someone has
Dementia can help with the mental disorder, but I just don t think that it seems fair to his/her son
/daughter(s) or husband/wife at home who wait all day and night to hear or worries from that
person(Dr. Pepper Schwartz, What are our rights when we re not ourselves any more?). I
understand how some people may think that humans with Dementia should be able to consent to
having sex, but think of it as if, a person is using another person because of their disability. An
example of this: So Tom (Husband)and Jackie(Wife who has dementia) live in the same house,
right next to them lives Jerry who just moved in and looks like Tom. Tom went out of town for
the week and trusted Jerry to take care of her, so Jerry goes check up on her and Jackie forgets
that her husband is gone for the week. Knowing that she had that mental disorder, Jerry took
advantage of her and got away with it without a trace... (A more simple metaphor/A more
simpler example) A boy who starves for sweets sees this girl and she has candy that the boy likes.
They hang out together for a bit until she runs out of candy to give to the boy, then he sees a girl
with chocolate chip cookies, so

The Five Bases Of Power And Personal Power
Introduction Power in the social dimension is simply the capacity to bring about certain
intended consequences in the behaviour of others (Gardner, 1993). So, who have a power and
control it? French and Raven (1959) purposed five bases of the power and divided to position
power and personal power. Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of
individuals to achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2010). How can the leader use their powerand
influence the subordinate with a great outcome during achieve goals and what tacit used by the
power controller used also who is the power broker make a power collapsed.
Power
Even a teacher, parents, police, manager or professor, they are using different kind of power
influence. Hence, the power used by the leader when he forces the team to achieve the goals,
that s called position power. Legitimate, reward and coercive power are five bases of power. The
information power was added in 1965 proposed by Raven . Personal power can be a person uses
the knowledge or experience to get the job done. Lunenburg (2012) mentioned great leader make
things happen by utilizing personal power. There are expert and referent power.

All Men Are Created Equal By Thomas Wwain
Commonly, people believe that Thomas Jefferson is a hypocrite, due to the fact that one of his
most famous quotes is all men are created equal . Although that was one of his famous quotes, he
owned slaves all throughout his lifetime. The topic over slavery including Thomas Jefferson is
extremely controversial today in America.
In each excerpt, each author clearly addressed the issue of presentism. In Wilson s excerpt he
addressed the issue of presentism by, considering the time eras as well as the dilemmas that
Jefferson faced. Wilson wrote that Jefferson knew that slavery was sinful, but freeing the slaves
when they had been slaves their whole life was not the logical answer. In Finkelman s excerpt he
addressed the issue of presentism, because he said Jefferson fails the test . There was not a literal
test, but based on Finkelman s belief and attitude toward the past, Jefferson failed Finkelman s
test. In our present day, our principles do not allow majority of Americans to presume, that
Jefferson owning slaves and pushing the belief that all men are created equal, is not hypocritical.
Majority of the people in America today would perceive Thomas Jefferson as a deceiver and would
not take him seriously. Both authors, Wilson and Finkelman, use the ethical standard that slavery is
wrong to evaluate Jefferson. They use the evidence that Jefferson was a slave owner. Wilson thinks
that Jefferson meets the ethical standard in his era. He believes that, although slavery is

Roman Catholic And Mexican Immigrants Essay
Since the United States was created, immigrant groups have been discriminated against due to their
religious, ethnic, and/or national origin backgrounds. Possessive investment in whiteness has
operated throughout all this time by keeping privileges and resources to certain groups and defining
whiteness through the exclusion of others (Lipsitz 4). Through this process of exclusion negative
discursive formations have been created around immigrant groups and impacted their levels of
assimilation. As a result, there have been many discriminatory practices against immigrants
throughout history with variations in how that discrimination is carried out (Dinnerstein and
Reimers 104). The two main immigrant groups I am going to focus on are Roman Catholic and
Mexican immigrants. In the beginning of American history (and throughout), there has existed a
sentiment against Roman Catholic immigrants. Dinnerstein and Reimers give the example of John
Adams letter to his wife reflecting his negative perceptions of Roman Catholics and their practices,
these same thoughts were shared by many other Americans at the time (17 18). As a result of these
perceptions, Roman Catholics were discriminated against and often kept from exercising their right
to vote during colonial America. Not being allowed to vote and consequently, not being able to be
heard in society intentionally keeps immigrant groups from assimilating into the dominant culture
because they are not able to contribute or

Outline Of Social And Psychological Factors On Effective...
OUTLINE THE SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO
EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP
Leadership is defined as The action of leading a group of people or an organisation, or the ability to
do this (Oxford Dictionary Online, 2014). However, from a socio psychological viewpoint,
Chemers defined leadership as A process of social influence through which an individual enlists
and mobilises the aid of others in the attainment of a collective goal (Chemers 2001, as cited in
Hogg Vaughn, 2014, p.315). An effective leader can be described as one that motivates and inspires
others and collectively, with the group embraces new values, attitudes and goals. There are many
psychological and social aspects that contribute to an effective leader; ... Show more content on

This, therefore, suggests that there are other factors aside from personality that contribute to an
effective leader. History itself also provides evidence that not all successful leaders possess these
certain attributes; for example, Mahatma Ghandi was a quiet leader known for his peaceful
protests and Napoleon Bonaparte was widely known for being short which also led to the
psychological condition, Napoleon Complex being named after him. Researchers have carried out
further investigations as to whether there is a relationship between the basic personality factors
and effective leadership. The big five personality inventory consists of extraversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness. Judge, Bono, IIies Gerhardt (2002) meta
analysed 222 correlations from 73 studies and found that the five factor model had an overall
correlation of 0.48 with leadership, with extraversion being the most consistent correlate of
leadership across study settings and leadership criteria. However, trait theories have been criticised
as they fail to delimit a definitive list of leadership traits and little research has been done to look
at traits in relationship to leadership outcomes. Trait theories also fail to consider the situational
effect on leadership ability.
Situational factors also contribute to an effective leader, such that, leaders in one situation may not

over $1.3 trillion (excluding interest) up to 2010, the expected expiry time of the package. If
the system was to continue in the later years, the Treasury could end up spending over $200
billion each year. According to Bartels (2005), The Bush move was supported by the ordinary
citizens before the passage of the package. The people s support was not meant to imply the way
they were impressed with the package as contributing to inequality, as they were mainly concerned
with their own individual welfare. Notably, they wanted a system that could relieve them from
paying massive or burdensome amounts of taxes. Though contrary to the perception of the
legislation by the people and their personal preferences regarding it, 36% of the tax benefits were
to accrue to the richest, who comprised only one percent of the American population. The share
was almost equal to the one that was received by those in the bottom who constituted around 80%
of the population (Hacker Pierson, p. 33).

How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant...
How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United
States.
Introduction
Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other
organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the
Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other
organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest
ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other
native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer
(Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long,
2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land
development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during
seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late
fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have
significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a
large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth,
reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). The impacts
of white tailed deer on forests along the Eastern United

Harold And Maude Film Techniques
According to the film of Harold and Maude directed by Hal Ashby, there is a scene where both
Harold (a kid who thinks suicidal), along with his mother by the name Vivian are sitting down,
not even facing the same direction of each other. Vivian begins to ask back to back questions to
Harold based on the national computer dating services. During the scene, Harold looks straight
ahead while his mother is looking down at the form of questions she is constantly asking him.
The whole time, Harold does not say a word and his mother answers each question herself, as she
would know her son s answers. Harold slowly pulls out a handgun out of a case located on his lap.
He then aims the gun towards his mother and then aims the gun pointing his direction. Shortly after,

In the scene, they are wearing luxurious attire inside of an elegant setting. Harold was wearing a
dapper suit and tie, while the mother was wearing a nice dress with an appealing necklace and
purse. This would be the assumption they live a high class (ruling) lifestyle. Secondly, this
scene shows the ideology how negative Harold thinks of Vivian. Once he aimed the gun her way
and kept it steady with confidence, a viewer could easily tell Harold was fed up by his own
mom. As most kids with their parents, this shows an exaggeration of how they could feel when
parents are annoying them when they do not want to be bothered or dislike them as a whole.
Lastly, an ideology that both works and can be made out of the following scene is the dominant
belief of Harold s attitude and emotions. Things may not seem to be bad for a person if he or she
lives at an upper level than majority of the population. However, that does not mean being at a
high peak of life defines a person s

The Relationship Between Media And Bias
Bryson Cook Professor Daniel Baracskay American Government 1101 9 September 2016 The
Relationship Between Bias and the Media Since its inception, the media has been fiercely
castigated for the substantial amount of bias it allegedly encompasses. Popular television media
outlets such as CNN or Fox News have been accused of containing said bias by both sides of the
political spectrum, and the introduction of news websites and programs on the internet have
unlocked a door filled with criticism about the political stances that every single article contains.
What indications are there that affirms these accusations of impartial information being conveyed

In their report, Fox News asks If the 2016 presidential election were held today, how would you

(Wouldn t vote), or (Don t know)? (Fox News Poll, 2016). 44% of the survey s participants
answered they would vote for Hillary Clinton while 38% answered they would vote for Donald
Trump, but the actual survey is not where the bias lies. Shortly after the survey concluded and
the results were in, Fox News started covering what the survey revealed and the headline showed
FOX POLL: TRUMP LEADS WITH INDEPENDENTS (Stevens, 2016). Fox News had
displayed the wrong results from the poll with no substantial reasoning supporting it. Many
critics that have examined this event conclude that Fox News was perhaps trying to sway their
viewers to believe that the Republican candidate was in the lead so that the momentum would
carry towards November. However, not all Republicans support Trump, so this assumption may
not be a valid reason. Also, the fact that many of the individuals who watch Fox News are
conservatives may hold some meaning behind this fiasco. Perhaps Fox News was attempting to
sway conservatives who were on the fence about voting for the Republican nominee to rally behind
a common candidate against the common enemy. Either way, Fox News has decided to drop their
socialization role, which is presenting the same information and portraying cultural values to
national audiences (Lenz and Holman, pg. 142), by giving their loyal viewers false information
regarding their own poll. Surprisingly, Fox News has done another poll since that incident. Their
new survey, which was taken on Thursday, September 15th, 2016, shows that 41% of voters that
participated in the new survey stated that they would vote for Hillary Clinton while 40%

Cognitive Dissonance
Leon Festinger and James M. Carlsmith (1959) were interested in the cognitive dissonance, which
can influence a person decision to choose one action or thought over another. The researchers were
also interested in forced compliance, where authority can force individuals to say or act in a way
that is conflicting to one s own private opinion, whereas, the individual s attitude is altered through
persuasion and authority. Force was operationally defined as the amount of reward offered for lying

The advent of high altitude reconnaissance, to include aerial and satellite platforms, had at least as
much impact on US intelligence efforts as the Ultra SIGINT intelligence program had on Allied
intelligence efforts during World War II possibly even greater. The Iron Curtain of the Cold War

Capitalism tends to sow the seeds of its own destruction. Discuss.
Introduction:
Entering the 21st Century, these past few years we have begun to encounter and see the
beginning of world economic crises. The financial crisis of 2007 2008 and the oil crisis of 2003
2008 are just the few of many examples that we have seen and been impacted by. These events have
threatened the collapse of large financial institutions, the stock market, and has led to current issues
such as the rising of unemployment, and the cost of living. Karl Marx explains to us that the
economic crisis we still face up until today isn t from the results of the boom and bust cycle as
capitalist economics would have people believing in, but occurs because of the wicked economic
system that many countries across the globe have adopted the policies and systematic of capitalism.
Like Marx said, The real barrier of capitalist production is capital itself (Marx and Engels, 1948).
This academic paper will outline the different theories and factors that allow readers to understand
the reasons of how capitalism leads to her own destruction and contribute to the rising crises we
face presently today.
Capitalism:
Capitalism is defined as an economic system in where a great number of workers who own little

How Does Arthur Golden Use Symbols In The Memoir Of Geisha
The topic that I will be discussing is how Arthur Golden uses a series of symbols to show the
events in the book Memoir of Geisha through the main character, Chiyo. Throughout the book, the
usages of symbols to express the Chiyo s emotions are prominent even as juvenile. As the book
progress, we see the main character Chiyo develop into an exquisite young woman. Due to that, the
symbols used to portray her, alters accordingly. Golden manipulate these symbolisms to illustrate
what Chiyo is feeling mentally and physically and uses them to express motifs in the book.
Notably, the way the author uses symbols to depict events are intriguing and ingenious and I would

The Thin Ideal Is Being Pushed On Children
Now that it has been proven that the thin ideal is being pushed on children, children as young as

being shown one certain ideal, it soon becomes internalize, which leads to behaviors that often go
unnoticed by parents. While these behaviors may seem harmless at first glance, they can be part
of a bigger unhealthier problem. In a study were young girls played with dolls with different body

Clearly people have begun to more active, but more has to be done. Parents should get together
and be more involved with the type of media they expose their young girls and boys to. In the
world of social media, smart phones, and the Internet, there are now more ways than ever for
companies to push dangerous imagery towards children. Toys and dolls are not the only way for
a child to be targeted, and parents need restrict what their children are exposed to. It is
impossible to shield ones child to everything, but watching what toys you buy them, and what
kind of media they watch at home is a good way to start. Promoting body positivity and healthier
body images are ways to stop your kids from developing eating disorders, and self esteem issues
later in life. Parents play a huge role in shaping how kids think and feel about their bodies.
Starting to bolster kids body image early, even in preschool, can make a big difference in how kids
feel about themselves as they grow up. (Filucci) Teaching young children how media can be
manipulative can be a very important way to help them avoid internalizing harmful imagery, such
as the thin ideal. Communities should demand media illiteracy be taught in middle schools and
even elementary schools. One should not have to wait until they are in high school or college to
learn about the dangerous tactics that are used in the media, to indoctrinate the public. We know

The Articles Of Confederation And The Constitution
Constitution and Articles Analysis The Articles of Confederation and The Constitution were both
written I believe to ensue peace in a new nation where great freedoms had just been betrothed
upon. Both written within ten years of each other, the main point it was trying to get across was
the idea of one nation. They were written by the same people who all in all had similar ideas.
There are many differences as well. From the main one being sovereign states, to how many states
must approve an amendment. One reason for the difference is some had other interpretations of
certain wordings.Unfortunately, this is what brought us the Civil War. The southern states felt that
their constitutional rights had been violated when they were told they could not take slaves with
them to the west. They were then told that they could not secede from the rest of the union. And
the rest is well, history. There are many similar things about both of these documents. They both
want to secure the nation as a whole. After being able to escape the British rule, they wanted to
come together as one nation. Both gave power to the government to help regulate the laws of the
land. The writers knew that they would be stronger and harder to over run if the laws were written
out on paper. It gave each state their own rights to run it how they like, but still made sure the
government had the final so if it was written down. With that said, there are many difference in a lot

Essay on Cuban Revolution
Almost every nation in the world has experienced a revolution. A revolution can be simply defined
as a change. When a country undergoes a revolution, its ideals that it once believed in are being
modified. Sometimes revolutionaries act intellectually, yet others may respond physically through
destruction. Some may be peaceful, some short lasting, and some pointless. Historians do argue on
identifying whether a revolution has occurred. Revolutions usually follow a rupture in the nation s

Voter Registration And Voter Id Laws
Recently state and federal legislators have been discussing voter identification laws, also known
as voter ID laws. This issue is controversial because it can lead states to deny voters a vote without
an approved ID. On one hand, some supporters of ID laws argue that these laws are preventing
criminals from committing fraud. From this perspective, the laws are protecting the value of a vote
and what it means to actually participate in an election vote. On the other hand, however, people
argue that by placing the restriction on votingit is impeding the people constitutional rights much
like a poll tax. Opponents also claim that by enforcing an ID law it is creating a poll tax similar to
the ones created to prevent the African American people from voting. A poll tax is a specific
amount a person is charged before being able to place a vote; the comparison between a poll tax
and a driver s license fee is like comparing apples and oranges, when getting a driver s license a
person is using their license as their main form of ID. Poll taxes were outlaw in the 1960s by the
24th amendment.
In the words of Cathy Cohen, one of the main opponents of voter ID, Voter turnoutamong young
people may be significantly reduced because of these laws (Frisby). According the view of Cohen,
she does not account for the young people who do not intend to vote, not because of the laws but
because of laziness, lack of interest, and outright apathy. The late United States president John F.

The Danger of Nuclear Weapons versus the Necessity of...
Nuclear weapons continue to present a real threat to humanity and other life on Earth. Scholars of
international relations and policymakers share in the belief that the sheer power and
destructiveness of nuclear weapons prevent them from being used by friends and foes alike. Then
the real question becomes; what is the need for nuclear weapons? Nuclear weapons are defined as,
volatile device that originates its destructive force from nuclear reactions, either fission or a
combination of fission and fusion. Both reactions release massive amounts of energy from fairly
small amounts of matter. Nuclear weapons have greatly changed the way war is fought. Along with
these more dominant weapons come ways to control and countermeasure such power.... Show more

So this then is the dilemma: directly and indirectly, both strength and weakness of a county can
upset the balance of security and the status quo in international relations. With the development
of nuclear weapons becoming more and more common, could lead to countries wanting to
achieve an advantage over other. Syria s recent development and controversial testing of
biological weapons being a perfect example. This then begins a never ending cycle for power.
This can possibly lead to countries getting rid of the competition. Luckily no country wants to be
the first to start a nuclear holocaust. I am in favor of both nuclear disarmament and stricter
nuclear arms control. It s hard to trust so much power in the hands of mere man. I am in favor of
nuclear energy because of the reliability a few tons of radioactive can produce the same amount
of energy as hundreds of tons of coal, fossil fuels or natural gas. So significantly less energy is
expended on its transport to reactors. Also there is an increase in efficiency when it comes to the
usage of nuclear energy. Small amounts can give power to city for a longer period of time in
comparison to other convention energy sources. However in my mind the negative aspects
outweigh the positive benefits. Nuclear weapons aren t very precise weapons; they do not attack
the desired party. However nuclear weapons are destructive forces that annihilate anything within
the blast radius. Unlike conventional weapons,

cheer shows lots of physical activity but school cheer is just pure energy. For example, What most
people get wrong is that they think of school cheer. School cheers main goal is to have the crowd
excited for high school sports. Which at the games they lead them in chants which I agree that is
not a sport. But you can t disagree with competitive cheer. Competitive cheerleaders goal is to win
first place. Just like gymnasts, they get awarded points for difficulty, technique, creativity and
sharpness. The best difficult amount or a stunt, the sharper and more sync the motions, the better
the score the team will get. Cheerleading is a team sport so without cooperation and
synchronization, first place isn t really an option unless you get a good

Dan Sutton is currently the general manager of Pismo Oceano Vegetable Exchange also known
as P.O.V.E. He was not just handed this job but he has worked hard in many different positions
in the agriculture industry and worked his way up to this position. Dan got into the agriculture
world at an early age when he would help his father out by working on his 5 acre kiwi farm. Dan
loved farming with his dad as a hobby and was the only boy in the family who liked the work. He
graduated with an Agricultural Business degree from Cal Poly in 2001 after 7 long years of being
a student at Poly. He worked with agriculture companies over the summers and part time during his

He oversees most of the operations of the company including overseeing the sales staff, safety

involved with all aspects of the company than I thought he would be. In addition, I learned that
he spends about half of his time in the office and the other half out in the fields or working with
people in other industries of agriculture. I was surprised to find out how much interaction he has
with lower level employees and how much time he actually spends in the fields with the
product. I learned about the unpredictability and fast pace of this job as well. He stated that he
never has the same day twice and really doesn t know what he is going to do each day until he
gets his first phone call in the morning. I found this interesting because it forces you to adapt to
situations very quickly and think on your feet. I also learned that in agriculture you have to be a
price taker. This means you cannot be set on a price because competitors, changes in the market,
and quality of each harvested produce can change the price consumers are willing to pay.

`` Wrong Headed Victory `` By Michael Le Page
On his journey through his local Wal Mart, Bob stops to examine two ears of corn. The size, price,
and nutrition facts are the same. The only difference between them is on their labelling: Natural
and Genetically Modified. Bob, like many other people, instinctively chooses the natural option
without much thought.
Michael Le Page admits in his article Wrong Headed Victory, that he would unconsciously make
the same choice as Bob. He does not think it should be that way though. Through his article, he
effectively describes how to overcome the opposition of genetically modified food, and not through
the removal of labels.
Le Page s article starts by describing an ideal world, where in which people could always choose
if they wanted to consume genetically modified food products or not. He then argues that this is
not a perfect and ideal world, where billions of people are starving because there is not enough
food. Le Page also pronounces that this number will continue to grow as the earth s population
continues to increase and farming becomes more expensive. He then claims that farming is
contributing to global warming and the world needs a more efficient method of producing food.
Le Page enlightens the reader that the technology needed to accomplish that task already exists
through genetically modified food, but there are multiple reasons why it has not been fully utilized
yet. One of the problems is that the poorer countries do not have the money to afford these better

Street Gangs And Its Effects On The Minds Of Today s Youth
Street gangs have played a major role in the minds of today s youth. For some youth, joining a
gang is considered to be a rite of passage. Most youth join gangs to have a sense of brotherhood
and sisterhood, to be accepted, to feel protected, and to feel like they belong (Violent Prevent
Institute, 2016). In most cases, they look up to the older men or women in gangs for guidance not
realizing that in most cases, the older people who are in the gangjoined for the same reasons
(Violent Prevent Institute, 2016). In most city neighborhoods, joining a gang is the urban
equivalent of joining the Cub Scouts or a Brownie troop in the suburbs. For a lot of the older gang
members, it is a matter of simple economics. They often cannot find legal work and certainly
nothing that pays nearly as well as selling drugs and committing crimes (Violent Prevent Institute,
2016). Youth want to have the same flashy lifestyle that provides them with expensive clothing,
drugs, sex, and respect (Violent Prevent Institute, 2016). Gang violence is something that affects
us all in many ways. A lot of people are terrified of gang violence. With every wrong decision,
there could be major consequences following it.
In the United States, there is estimated to be over 1.5 million people in gangs and roughly 35,000
different gangs operating. Some recognizable gangs are Gangster Disciples, Black Disciples, Bloods
, Crips, Two Six, and Latin Kings (Hagan, 2016). Among those gangs are other street gangs,

Selling Violent Video Games to Minors, Is It Good?
In the year 1972, something happened that would forever change
the world of home entertainment and personal enjoyment. The first
video game to break through the confines of reality, was a game
called Pong. From Pong, to Call of Duty, people come a long way in
the world of video games. However, some games have struck up
controversy with their gratuitous violence and their questionable
motives. It has become so controversial, that it has been taken
up and noticed by our own government. So, what s the problem with
violent video games, and how can the next generation be protected, so
that they will not get influenced by these games in real life?
So how did all of this begin? Let us go back to a time where
change needed to happen to the flow of digital
entertainment. In the year 1993, a new arcade cabinet just
made it s way to the arcades and is getting played more and more
every single day. That game was called Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat
is a fighting game on the arcade that would soon debut on home
consoles. But that sounds very similar to Street Fighter 2 , some people may ask right now, what
was so special about Mortal Kombat?
Well there were 2 very distinct differences between these games.
First were the designs of the characters, and the second(and most
obvious) was the ABSOLUTELY GORY FATALITIES! This quote from

Apple Strategic Management
Apple Inc. Analysis Strategic Management
Introduction
Strategic management is the process by which an organization drafts, implements and evaluates
cross functional decisions that enable the organization to achieve its long term objectives. It entails
the process of specifying the mission of the organization, its vision, objectives and the development
of the various strategies to achieve the objectives of the organization. Apple Inc. (Apple) has
managed to create substantial value in the highly competitive personal computer industry, by
innovating and forging a path considerably different from those of the largest competitors in the

When Apple did not license, Microsoft began developing their operating system, Windows. (Apple

Apple Corporation also operates in the music industry. The company enjoys a dominant market
share in the music industry though competition is tough. According to Jade (2006), though digital
music sales are growing rapidly, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) states
that digital sales of all music are still low. Deutschman (2000) notes that Apple s sales in the
music industry amount to between 66% and 75% of downloads and 80% of music players (Apple,
2005). Apple is part to a suit alleging monopolistic practices concerning their market share
dominance of players and downloads (Apple Inc. 2010b)
The other players in the download market are (the revised) Napster, Yahoo Music, Rhapsody, and
illegitimate file sharing services among others. Portable music players competing with the iPod
include those made by Creative, Samsung, iRiver, and Sony. A major point of contention between
these services and player manufacturers is the control of a variety of incompatible Digital Rights

from hospitals and there are at least two opportunities, at the hospital admission and the nursing

Each wave of migrations and invasions brought different cultures and added to what is now
modern day the United Kingdom. The Romans left their numerous long roads, whose names
became lost in time since there was no written records or inscribed sources. Built by the Roman
army and long after they returned home, their roads survived, and some routes are in use today.
The Normans built fortified castles, which was a new concept since before that time there was
none in the United Kingdom. One example is Restormel Castle, which is in a circular in shape as
well as surrounded by an entrenched circular ditch for protection against attacks. The Vikings left
parts of their language in the names of the towns and villages, such as names ending in by are

These two characters are very similar with the challenges they face. Auggie in particular has a
different looking face from other people. Similarly, Jessica is missing part of a limb. These two

reason to prove how similar these two characters are is, they both deal with people constantly
looking at them. Auggie is used to it but it does every once and awhile get on his nerves. While
it also bothers Jessica because people always look at her stump as she calls it. These two
examples show how similar they are while facing reality. And my last reason to prove how
similar they are is there friendships with people from school. First, Auggie meets Jack his new

Religious Tolerance In Chaim Potok s The Chosen
In 1620 a group of protestant pilgrims left England aboard the Mayflower because they could not
practice Christianity the way they wanted. They made a pact to not oppress one another based on
religious practices. During the forming of the United States, the government declared freedom of
religion throughout the US. This meant that no one could force another to follow a specific religion.
Chaim Potok s weaves the theme of religious tolerance in his novel, The Chosen. Tony Savo, Reb
Saunders, and Reuven all reveal the theme of religious endurence within the book.
First off, Tony Savo demonstrates tolerance with Reuven s staunch Judaism during their stay at
the hospital. Tony s bed sits next to Reuven s so they have each other as company for a week.
The book suggests that Tony believes in atheism, not in any super natural deity. Tony remarks one
night You re a real religious kid, there, Bobby boy, after Reuven begins to pray with his tefillin

The Happiness Advantage
Everyone s ideal world contains no problems. The dream life is full of happiness because you
have the perfect job, an abundance of money to afford the best of things, and a magic wand to
wave and solve any issue that comes your way. This would be considered in today s society a
person who is very successful, and most of all, happy. This may not always be true. In Shawn
Achor s book, The HappinessAdvantage, he describes happiness as a feeling that everyone should
have regardless of the situation they are in or the problems they are dealing with. He discusses
that happiness is the precursor to success, and not to be confused with the opposing view. The 3
main theories that Achor believes will give the greatest happiness advantage is The Zorro Circle,
The Fulcrum and the Lever, and the Social Investment. Achor suggests that happiness comes
before success because happiness will give you a better outlook, and success may not always
intend that happiness is to follow. Our most positive emotions include hope, love, pride and joy.
Each of these emotions are different according to the person experiencing them. All of them relate
to happiness, which can help us to be in a better mood in the future as well as in the present
(Achor, p.40). Happiness should be our main focus in everything we do. When we set up a smarter
and more motivated mindset, we then start to focus on our own happiness and allow success to
grow from that feeling. Happiness should be the first thing we think about

Variola Minor Disease
Cause of Disease
Smallpox can be caused by two different viruses called variola major and variola minor. The most
deadly out of the two is variole major and it is estimated that 30% of the people who get the disease
die. However, variola minor is a lot less deadly and causes death to around 1% of people infected
with the disease.
Transmission of Smallpox
The main reason to why smallpox is so dangerous is because it is an airborne disease meaning
that it can be spread by coughing and sneezing and therefore can be spread quickly. The
transmission of smallpox can also occur due to direct contact with any bodily fluids including blood
as well as sharing or touching contaminated surfaces.

want to give an example each how to calculate with those sequences. First I want to give a short
definition of each sequence.
An arithmetic sequence is a sequence of numbers in which each succeeding term differs from the
preceding term by the same amount. This amount is known as the common difference. (Bluman, A.
G. 2500, page 221)
An example for an arithmetic sequence is:

For a better overview I write everything down again: n = 9 d = $ 25 a1 = $ 100 a9 = ?
I use the following formula to find out a9: an = a1 + (n 1)d
Now we put the numbers we have into the formula: a9 = 100 + (9 1)(25) a9 = 100 + 8(25) a9 =
100 + 200 a9 = 300 a9= $ 300
Now that we have a9 we can we can calculate the costs for a 90 foot tower with the following
formula:
Sn = n(a1 + a n) / 2
S9 = 9(100 + 300) / 2
S9 = 9(400) / 2
S9 = 4.5(400)
S9= 1,800
S9 = $ 1,800
The cost for a 90 foot CB tower will be $ 1,800.
This exercise involves an arithmetic sequence because the cost of the labor for each succeeding 10
feet is $25 more than the preceding 10 feet. The first 10 feet the cost of the labor is $ 100. The next
10 feet are $ 25 more and the next 10 feet $ 25 more and so on.
10 feet = $ 100; 20 feet = $ 125; 30 feet = $ 150; 40 feet = $ 175; ...

Prevalence of Nosocomial Infection (NI)
Nosocomial infections (NI) are acquired in hospitals and other healthcare facility. It is suspected, if
the patient had another infection other than the infection, he/she was admitted for; and had shown
no signs of active or incubating symptoms (Graham, 2016) of present infection. NI is said to occur,
if the Infection occurred 48 hours after hospital admission, 3 days after discharge, or 30 days after
an operation or surgery procedure. Nowadays, NI is labelled the leading cause of death in

In some cases, patients develop infections due to poor conditions at a hospital and healthcare
facility, or due to hospital staff not following proper standard procedures, such as improper hand
washing before and after patient care, lack of proper clinical wound cleaning and perineal care.
Proper sanitation and other proper healthcare hygiene procedures omitted during patient care. Some
patients also acquire NI by interacting with other patients , which may result from sharing of
personal belongings, and body contact. Others may encounter bacteria, fungi, parasites, or viruses
in their hospital environment (Graham, 2016). A research on Human metapneumovirus (hMPV)
recently discovered virus and a member of the subfamily Pneumovirinae, as the major cause of
hospitalization of infants suffering from respiratory tract infection (French et al., 2016). It can
manifest as flu like symptoms, and later dispose into shortness of breath with nasal congestions. It s
likely to be transmitted via direct contact and droplet.
Symptoms of NI
Symptoms of NI vary by type. They include inflammation, discharge, fever, and abscesses. Patients
may experience pain and irritation at the infection site, and many experience visible symptoms.
Many forms of NI can be diagnosed through sight alone. Pus, inflammation, and rashes may all be
indications of infection. Blood and urine culture tests (Diekema et al., 2003) can be used to

  • 2. Privacy, Crime, And Prevention Privacy, Crime, and Prevention While there are many crimes committed on a daily basis in various forms, people who use computers seldom think about computer crimes, and what measures need to be taken in order to prevent those type of crimes. Also many people who use computers are not aware of the privacy and security measures that are taken advantage of. In order to handle these situations, it is important to be educated on topics such as how to protect your privacy (and who is able to view your personal information without you knowing), the crimes committed dealing with malware and other virus agents, and how to utilize tools and stay away from scams that you may encounter. These topics are important and should be addressed to all of the public, but particularly to children and the elderly who are the least of informed on the ever changing technological world and how it can directly effect them if precautions are not taken. Protect yourself According to Norton, a well known security software company, always ensure that your computer software is up to date and apply patches to the software when it becomes available to lessen a hacker attack on your system. Having up firewalls will discourage the hacker and motivate them to find a less vulnerable victim. • 3. The Dynamics Of Political Correctness Essay Correctly Political: A Look into the Dynamics of Political Correctness Every American probably knows what it means to be politically correct. After all, we hear about it on the news almost every night. We have to be constantly aware of whether or not something we say or do is going to offend someone. This mode of communication is present in every aspect of our lives, from the most formal to the most informal situations. This paper will answer questions on the origin of the term politically correct and the applications of the communication pattern it refers to: who started it, who is doing it, and why. Is political correctness a good idea? Is it too pervasive? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It evolved into a term of disapproval among leftists for those whose line toeing fervor was too much to bear. (Richer and Weir 53) Thus, the expression went from having a positive meaning to having a negative meaning. What we think of today as political correctness (PC) began in a recognizable form during the social movements of the late 1960 s. PC was used as a self critique by social movements, each saw itself as politically/ethically correct. PC referred to the culture or practices of the women s movement or gay liberation or a Marxist party, but not to a common culture cross cutting these movements. There existed a shifting line of conflict between movements, and groups could signify affinity or hostility with another group by proclaiming these movements politically correct. (Richer and Weir 53) Paul Berman, a well known essayist, has a very interesting view of the social movement culture of the 1960 s: The left wing uprising of circa 1968 had two phases, which were in perfect discord. The first phase was an uprising on behalf of the ideals of liberal humanism an uprising on behalf of the freedom of the individual against a soulless system. The second phase was the opposite, at least philosophically. It was a revolt against liberal humanism. Is said, in effect: Liberal humanism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of Matthew Carter s Works Letters; they don t just make up the words on a page or a screen. Forms, counterforms and volumes of shape that interact with other characters and space are important considerations in a character. Matthew Carter took the in depth knowledge he gained of the physical forms of letters and transcribed new and ever lasting typefaces from it to become one of the most impactful typography designers of current times. From the Beginning Born in 1937 in London, Carter grew up with an expanded knowledge of typography. His father, Harry, worked in the same field, designing books and type. He was also a type founding and punchcutting historian. Upon leaving school, he worked in the Netherlands at the EnschedГ© type foundry in Haarlem. This was the ... Carter moved back to New York after his years of freelancing in Europe and worked for Mergenthaler Linotype, where he created Snell Roundhand, a script that perfectly illustrated the comparative virtues of photosetting (Design Museum 1), as well as Helvetica Condensed and various foreign typefaces. By the 1970s, he was back in London, still working with Linotype but also freelancing. In 1974 he created Bell Centennial (Figure 1) for AT T which is still used in telephone directories today. After years of freelance work, Carter eventually moved back to the United States and established his own company, Bitstream, in Massachusetts. When traditional typesetting became less profitable and the digital age set it, Bitstream created a collection of digital typefaces. A decade after its creation, Carter left Bitstream to pursue more design work. The Phone Book Bell Centennial was the first digital typeface design that Matthew Carter worked on in 1974. Originally, AT T had wanted to use Helvetica. Erik Spiekermann notes that Helvetica is meant to be consistent and homogeneous. The letters are all similar to one another. Personal Theology Paper Introduction My personal general theology is based on the scripture John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. This has always impacted the way that I have talked about God to others. I ve spoken about Godin a manner of love because He loves us enough to give His only begotten son for our salvation. God loves us enough to make our process toward salvation easier by allowing our requirement to merely believe in Him. God loves us enough to allow our souls not to perish, if we believe in Him. God s love is the foundation of my personal theology. In this project I will cover areas that relate to God s love for us. The topics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part I To start a discussion a cultural competence in the field of law and within the courtroom, it s important to establish the definition of culture in clarity. Culture is a dynamic value system of learned elements, with assumptions, conventions, beliefs and rules permitting members of a group to relate to each other and to the world, to communicate and to develop their creative potential. (Obialo) Religion, food, language, customs, unspoken values and beliefs, clothing and other outward expressions make up a group s culture. There are four key components within cultural competence. Those four key components include awareness of your own cultural worldview; your attitude toward differences in cultures; your knowledge of different practices and worldviews culturally; and your communication skills cross culturally. For example, take a case of divorce and child custody involving an Indian couple. The facts exemplified how a judge s lack of knowledge to the culture and practices of the individuals could result in an inaccurate conclusion. In this case, the husband testifies that his wife was hysterical and claimed that she worshiped blocks of blood and practiced voodoo. His testimony casted common Hindu practices in an unfavorable light. This was his scheme to make the courts believe his wife was emotionally volatile and was not fit to parent their child. Rockets have been around for centuries understanding how they fly, what they are made of, and the kinds of fuel that they use will allow mankind to make better improvements in the future. The history of rockets dates back centuries to when the Chinese used them to launch fireworks. Dr. Robert H. Goddard is known as the ,father of modern rocketry. He was the first man to successfully build and launch a rocket powered by liquid fuel (American Rocketry Pioneer, 9/25/15). His findings are still used in modern day rockets all around the world. Ultimately it was his finding that lead to President Nixon s approval of the space shuttle program in 1972 (Kerod, 2005). And at first, I thought that being emotionally involved with the patient was not allowed because it made it harder to do your job. I was wrong being emotionally involved makes you a better nurse and makes it seem like you are an actual person and not a mechanical being taking care of patients. We went to say goodbye. We went there for comfort from our family. We went there to give comfort before the end. Arriving in Wyoming at around eleven we wanted to see my auntRitti before she died. Getting to the hospital I was calm and collected but as soon as I walked into the room my emotions were all scrambled. Her head tilted back and her mouth was wide open so she could breathe, she was skinnier, pale, and there were bags under her eyes. She was lying there motionless, the only thing that she could move were her eyes. I only knew one way to handle a situation dealing with death, cry. After saying hello to my aunt Ritti I said hello to my aunts Tuesday and Rhonda, uncles Daryl and David, and my mother s parents. We stayed in the hospital talking and catching up and including my aunt in the conversation. Should People with Dementia Be Able To Consent To Having Sex With Their Loved Ones? A big controversy that people around the world argue is whether a person with a mental disability such as, dementia, should continue to have sexual relationships with their lover. Dementia is ...a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality disorders, and impaired reasoning (Google search, dementia definition). On top of all that, the person just, gets away with it with no problems at all and nothing to stop that freak since the person with dementia had no signs of resistance or anything... Another thing, I don t think institutions where it is allowed/encouraged to have sex should be allowed. What if that person has a loved one(s) at home that STILL HAVE A RELATIONSHIP GOING!?!? I understand that intimacy with a person when someone has Dementia can help with the mental disorder, but I just don t think that it seems fair to his/her son /daughter(s) or husband/wife at home who wait all day and night to hear or worries from that person(Dr. Pepper Schwartz, What are our rights when we re not ourselves any more?). I understand how some people may think that humans with Dementia should be able to consent to having sex, but think of it as if, a person is using another person because of their disability. An example of this: So Tom (Husband)and Jackie(Wife who has dementia) live in the same house, right next to them lives Jerry who just moved in and looks like Tom. Tom went out of town for the week and trusted Jerry to take care of her, so Jerry goes check up on her and Jackie forgets that her husband is gone for the week. • 15. All Men Are Created Equal By Thomas Wwain Commonly, people believe that Thomas Jefferson is a hypocrite, due to the fact that one of his most famous quotes is all men are created equal . Although that was one of his famous quotes, he owned slaves all throughout his lifetime. The topic over slavery including Thomas Jefferson is extremely controversial today in America. In each excerpt, each author clearly addressed the issue of presentism. In Wilson s excerpt he addressed the issue of presentism by, considering the time eras as well as the dilemmas that Jefferson faced. Wilson wrote that Jefferson knew that slavery was sinful, but freeing the slaves when they had been slaves their whole life was not the logical answer. In Finkelman s excerpt he addressed the issue of presentism, because he said Jefferson fails the test . There was not a literal test, but based on Finkelman s belief and attitude toward the past, Jefferson failed Finkelman s test. In our present day, our principles do not allow majority of Americans to presume, that Jefferson owning slaves and pushing the belief that all men are created equal, is not hypocritical. Majority of the people in America today would perceive Thomas Jefferson as a deceiver and would not take him seriously. Possessive investment in whiteness has operated throughout all this time by keeping privileges and resources to certain groups and defining whiteness through the exclusion of others (Lipsitz 4). Through this process of exclusion negative discursive formations have been created around immigrant groups and impacted their levels of assimilation. As a result, there have been many discriminatory practices against immigrants throughout history with variations in how that discrimination is carried out (Dinnerstein and Reimers 104). The two main immigrant groups I am going to focus on are Roman Catholic and Mexican immigrants. In the beginning of American history (and throughout), there has existed a sentiment against Roman Catholic immigrants. Dinnerstein and Reimers give the example of John Adams letter to his wife reflecting his negative perceptions of Roman Catholics and their practices, these same thoughts were shared by many other Americans at the time (17 18). As a result of these perceptions, Roman Catholics were discriminated against and often kept from exercising their right to vote during colonial America. Not being allowed to vote and consequently, not being able to be heard in society intentionally keeps immigrant groups from assimilating into the dominant culture because they are not able to contribute or ... • 17. Outline Of Social And Psychological Factors On Effective... OUTLINE THE SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP Leadership is defined as The action of leading a group of people or an organisation, or the ability to do this (Oxford Dictionary Online, 2014). However, from a socio psychological viewpoint, Chemers defined leadership as A process of social influence through which an individual enlists and mobilises the aid of others in the attainment of a collective goal (Chemers 2001, as cited in Hogg Vaughn, 2014, p.315). An effective leader can be described as one that motivates and inspires others and collectively, with the group embraces new values, attitudes and goals. There are many psychological and social aspects that contribute to an effective leader; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This, therefore, suggests that there are other factors aside from personality that contribute to an effective leader. History itself also provides evidence that not all successful leaders possess these certain attributes; for example, Mahatma Ghandi was a quiet leader known for his peaceful protests and Napoleon Bonaparte was widely known for being short which also led to the psychological condition, Napoleon Complex being named after him. Researchers have carried out further investigations as to whether there is a relationship between the basic personality factors and effective leadership. The big five personality inventory consists of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness. Judge, Bono, IIies Gerhardt (2002) meta analysed 222 correlations from 73 studies and found that the five factor model had an overall correlation of 0.48 with leadership, with extraversion being the most consistent correlate of leadership across study settings and leadership criteria. However, trait theories have been criticised as they fail to delimit a definitive list of leadership traits and little research has been done to look at traits in relationship to leadership outcomes. Trait theories also fail to consider the situational effect on leadership ability. Situational factors also contribute to an effective leader, such that, leaders in one situation may not be ... • 20. George W. Bush Administration The George W. Bush administration is remarkably renowned for passing a major tax cuts package, known as the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, (Bartels, 2005, p. 19). The package postulated a reduction in the federal income tax rates, increment in the child credits, augmented taxfree retirement contributions and the educational savings account, as well as a gradual elimination of the US estate tax. The entire tax package was to cost the US Treasury over $1.3 trillion (excluding interest) up to 2010, the expected expiry time of the package. If the system was to continue in the later years, the Treasury could end up spending over $200 billion each year. According to Bartels (2005), The Bush move was supported by the ordinary citizens before the passage of the package. The people s support was not meant to imply the way they were impressed with the package as contributing to inequality, as they were mainly concerned with their own individual welfare. Notably, they wanted a system that could relieve them from paying massive or burdensome amounts of taxes. Though contrary to the perception of the legislation by the people and their personal preferences regarding it, 36% of the tax benefits were to accrue to the richest, who comprised only one percent of the American population. The share was almost equal to the one that was received by those in the bottom who constituted around 80% of the population (Hacker Pierson, p. 33). The policy provided ... • 21. How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant... How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United States. Introduction Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long, 2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth, reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). Shortly after the survey concluded and the results were in, Fox News started covering what the survey revealed and the headline showed FOX POLL: TRUMP LEADS WITH INDEPENDENTS (Stevens, 2016). Fox News had displayed the wrong results from the poll with no substantial reasoning supporting it. Many critics that have examined this event conclude that Fox News was perhaps trying to sway their viewers to believe that the Republican candidate was in the lead so that the momentum would carry towards November. However, not all Republicans support Trump, so this assumption may not be a valid reason. Also, the fact that many of the individuals who watch Fox News are conservatives may hold some meaning behind this fiasco. Perhaps Fox News was attempting to sway conservatives who were on the fence about voting for the Republican nominee to rally behind a common candidate against the common enemy. Either way, Fox News has decided to drop their socialization role, which is presenting the same information and portraying cultural values to national audiences (Lenz and Holman, pg. 142), by giving their loyal viewers false information regarding their own poll. Surprisingly, Fox News has done another poll since that incident. The financial crisis of 2007 2008 and the oil crisis of 2003 2008 are just the few of many examples that we have seen and been impacted by. These events have threatened the collapse of large financial institutions, the stock market, and has led to current issues such as the rising of unemployment, and the cost of living. Karl Marx explains to us that the economic crisis we still face up until today isn t from the results of the boom and bust cycle as capitalist economics would have people believing in, but occurs because of the wicked economic system that many countries across the globe have adopted the policies and systematic of capitalism. Like Marx said, The real barrier of capitalist production is capital itself (Marx and Engels, 1948). This academic paper will outline the different theories and factors that allow readers to understand the reasons of how capitalism leads to her own destruction and contribute to the rising crises we face presently today. • 39. Voter Registration And Voter Id Laws Recently state and federal legislators have been discussing voter identification laws, also known as voter ID laws. This issue is controversial because it can lead states to deny voters a vote without an approved ID. On one hand, some supporters of ID laws argue that these laws are preventing criminals from committing fraud. From this perspective, the laws are protecting the value of a vote and what it means to actually participate in an election vote. On the other hand, however, people argue that by placing the restriction on votingit is impeding the people constitutional rights much like a poll tax. Opponents also claim that by enforcing an ID law it is creating a poll tax similar to the ones created to prevent the African American people from voting. A poll tax is a specific amount a person is charged before being able to place a vote; the comparison between a poll tax and a driver s license fee is like comparing apples and oranges, when getting a driver s license a person is using their license as their main form of ID. Poll taxes were outlaw in the 1960s by the 24th amendment. In the words of Cathy Cohen, one of the main opponents of voter ID, Voter turnoutamong young people may be significantly reduced because of these laws (Frisby). According the view of Cohen, she does not account for the young people who do not intend to vote, not because of the laws but because of laziness, lack of interest, and outright apathy. • 40. The Danger of Nuclear Weapons versus the Necessity of... Nuclear weapons continue to present a real threat to humanity and other life on Earth. Scholars of international relations and policymakers share in the belief that the sheer power and destructiveness of nuclear weapons prevent them from being used by friends and foes alike. Then the real question becomes; what is the need for nuclear weapons? Nuclear weapons are defined as, volatile device that originates its destructive force from nuclear reactions, either fission or a combination of fission and fusion. Both reactions release massive amounts of energy from fairly small amounts of matter. Nuclear weapons have greatly changed the way war is fought. Along with these more dominant weapons come ways to control and countermeasure such power.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So this then is the dilemma: directly and indirectly, both strength and weakness of a county can upset the balance of security and the status quo in international relations. With the development of nuclear weapons becoming more and more common, could lead to countries wanting to achieve an advantage over other. Syria s recent development and controversial testing of biological weapons being a perfect example. This then begins a never ending cycle for power. This can possibly lead to countries getting rid of the competition. Luckily no country wants to be the first to start a nuclear holocaust. I am in favor of both nuclear disarmament and stricter nuclear arms control. It s hard to trust so much power in the hands of mere man. I am in favor of nuclear energy because of the reliability a few tons of radioactive can produce the same amount of energy as hundreds of tons of coal, fossil fuels or natural gas. So significantly less energy is expended on its transport to reactors. Also there is an increase in efficiency when it comes to the usage of nuclear energy. Small amounts can give power to city for a longer period of time in comparison to other convention energy sources. However in my mind the negative aspects outweigh the positive benefits. Nuclear weapons aren t very precise weapons; they do not attack the desired party. However nuclear weapons are destructive forces that annihilate anything within the blast radius. He then argues that this is not a perfect and ideal world, where billions of people are starving because there is not enough food. Le Page also pronounces that this number will continue to grow as the earth s population continues to increase and farming becomes more expensive.
