Conrad is commonly regarded as one of the greatest novelist ever to write in the
English language due in large part to his stylistic choices, philosophical insights, and
general prose proficiency. Under Western Eyes is a voluminous text with many
philosophical undertones, a complex plot, and complicated narrative structure. The
protagonist of the story, Kirylo Sidorovich Razumov, experiences much turmoil due
to his betrayal of a fellow student and revolutionarynamed Victor Haldin, and finds
his entire existence convoluted new social ties, new emotions, and an inner moral
conflict. The question the novel raises has to do with Razumov s changed
circumstances and how these affect his character. Although it is tempting to see him

suggest that Razumov is, from beginning to end, marked by his inveterate

A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink was an interesting and thought provoking book
even though I am skeptical of its main claim. I felt that the arguments that Pink used
to prove his claim that abundance and outsourcing (namely Asia) will usher in the
new conceptual age where R sided brains will dominate were shallow. For a claim as
large as the one he was making, he provided very little empiricalevidence to support
his thesis. More often than not he relied on logical reasoning (not necessarily a bad
thing per se, but it needs to be substantiated with empirical data) or expert
testimony (again, expert testimony is useful, but it cannot replace real world
proof). By the end of the book I remained unconvinced that this conceptual age is
actually coming. Perhaps what I take issue the most is the terminology. I feel
calling it an age is an extreme exaggeration and is unreasonable. If there is one
subject that I can say I am adept in, it is history, and from looking back throughout
the history nothing suggests that a conceptual age is coming. Though what can be
said is that prosperous societies tend to place a greater significance on the arts and

Without high production quality a show can seem unfinished and incomplete. I
would say that the production quality for Mama June: From Not to How was
above average. The producers of the show did a great job with smooth transitions,
sound quality, and crisps pictures. The editing of the show was done in a way that
was easy to follow and comprehend. The producers also did a great job on allowing
the fun personalities of the girls to shine through while still raising awareness of how
serious being over weight

The Acts of Supremacy
The first Act of Supremacy was introduced by Henry VIII in 1534 during his rule
of England. Later, when Elizabeth I came to the throne, the second Act of
Supremacy was introduced to bring back the reforms that Mary had abolished.
Both of these acts have many similarities but also some fundamental differences
that helped indicate the type of ruler each monarch would be. Before discussing
the differences it is important to first understand how the Act of Supremacy came
about. Little is known about Henry s childhood because as the second born he was
never intended to become King. When his elder brother Arthur died months after
his marriage to Catherine of Aragon Henry became the heir to the throne of
England. Catherine stayed in the English court after the death of her husband and
was betrothed to Henry . It was many years before the two finally married.
Catherine did give birth to a male heir but unfortunately the child did not survive .
There were many more attempts for a male heir but in the end the only surviving
child of Henry and Catherine was Mary Tudor who would later ascend to the throne
in July 1553 . Because Catherine was unable to produce a surviving male heir Henry
sought to get an annulment of their marriage. The pope would not grant this and so
Henry created the Act of Supremacy declaring himself the supreme head of the
Church of England in 1534. By naming himself as the supreme head of the Church,
Henry no longer needed to answer to the Pope or the Roman

Reflective Essay On Geneseo
Often times people relate what they re learning to the environment around them.
Studying in Oxford allowed for a unique, more relatable experience to history and the
literature discussed in the course. Oxford, being one of the oldest, most prestigious
institutions in the world, generated an atmosphere that my classmates and I couldn t
experience in Geneseo, one we may never have the chance to experience again. From
the history, to the architecture, to the students and culture it is unparalleled to our
education here in the US. The historical significance England has, not only with the
USA, but the entire world made the trip invaluable. Learning in the same place as
influential philosophers like John Locke, as well as the significance of Oxford in
Thomas Hardys Jude the Obscure, creates a special connection to the text I would
have nowhere else. Not only was academic aspect enlightening but also social
aspects like traveling and meeting locals as well. This program put academics and
life in a different context, something I m grateful I took advantage of.
Class itself was different from any class I ve taken in Geneseo, from the room to the
bond I shared with my classmates and professors throughout the trip. The
environment, along with other factors, created a more fulfilling academic
experience, one I had yet to experience until this trip. Lectures and discussions
became a thing I was excited to listen and participate in. Class, in general, was more

Colored Girls Psychology
The movie for colored girls was made based on the novel which is also entitled for
colored girls by Ntozake Shange, the movie express the struggles and obstacles that
African American women face throughout their life. The movie reveals seven women
who are brought together through their own troubles. The movies deals with love,
abandonment, rape, and abortions; at the end of the film all seven women come
together evoking the power of women hood amongst black African Americanfemales.
Being alive and being a women is all I got, but being colored is a metaphysical

The truth is that a Caucasian woman is more likely to be single considered parent
thanks Hispanics and African Americans. The truth was specified in my
psychology 101 class. (The one who stated) the quote. Her character was a woman

Her character made people view her for what she is and not who she was considered

As a young girl my great grandmother used to tell my male cousin and I to make
