2. History And Construction Of T.d Judah
T.D Judah was an American railroad and civil engineer who was a central figure in
the original promotion and design of the first Transcontinental Railroad. Being
that he was the main engineer he did most of the land surveying before the actual
plan was devised. He was determined to find the best route for the railroad over the
Sierra Nevada Mountains. In order to fund this massive project, Judah allied with
the Big Four . The Big Four were: Leland Stanford, Collis P. Huntington, Mark
Hopkins, and Charles Crocker. These men managed financing and construction of
the CPRR (Central Pacific Railroad). Up until the Civil War era, travel and
commerce were both slow and messy for individuals that moved westward and
wanted to sell their products back to the East. In 1862 and 1864, Congress pushed
through two acts called the Pacific Railroad acts that created the opportunity for the
East to be tied to the West. Although this war during the Civil War, Southern
Democrats were not apart of Congress, which left the Northern Republicans in charge
of its completion. Within a short amount of time, the Union Pacific Railroad
Company and the Central Pacific Railroad Company received millions of acres of
land, plenty of supplies, and large attraction in investments for the railroad s
development.
Over time, the railroad influenced the industrial and commercial aspect of America
by facilitating traveling and network reaching for trade and business. Standardized

3. Examples Of Quotes For Brewster
And my fury at him Is nothing compared to my fury at myself. (Pg. 179) The quote
basically says that he is angrier at himself, more than than how mad he is towards
his uncle. The reason for his fury towards himself, most likely being from the
knowledge that he can t do anything to stop him, his uncle that is. For Brewster can
t hurt his uncle, since it will just inflict back upon him. He also probably feels like
he can t hurt him because he feels that he owes his uncle for giving him a place to
stay, giving him a way to stay with Cody. Because if Uncle Hoyt hadn t taken them
in, they may have gotten separated. The wounds are my dignity; I will not share
them. (Pg. 182) When the quote is thought by Brewster, it seems that he means that

Hard...
While there are many natures of evil throughout the world, the reoccurrence of social
injustice throughout previous generations have laid the foundation for many writers
in the early twentieth century. Authors Flannery O Connor and Shirley Jackson grew
up in the thick of racial diversity that America was enduring. The Lotteryand A Good
Man is Hard to Findhelp exemplify the importance of moral and natural eviland its
effects on the world by using traditional and untraditional forms of these immoral
actions.
In A Good Man is Hard to Find there are two main characters who fit the description
of evil. Whether it is the pretentious grandmother or the unlawful Misfit, O Connor
touches upon the violence and grotesque that she witnessed in her youth (O
Connor). The grandmother is a woman who grew up during the times when racial
diversity was more prevalent and clearly was brought up by a successful family. A
little sympathy could be shown towards the grandmother since most of the
narrative is through her eyes, but like The Misfit she has cruel intentions. The
sophisticated lifestyle she lived isolated her from all the harshness in the world and
led to her to believe that her way is always right. This is until The Misfit approaches
her and his acquaintance takes the remaining family to the woods to be murdered.
The Misfit has his own internal logic leading him to believe he is killing because
that is what makes him happy, not because he is blood thirsty. In fact, he is

6. Sorrowful Woman vs. Story of an Hour
Effect of Irony In Story of an Hour A Sorrowful Woman
A life as a wife and/or a mother, is usually appreciated and is a happy life as well. A
relationship between two people should consist of joy, commitment, responsibility,
and most importantly love. For the two main characters in both stories ( The Story
of An Hour , and A Sorrowful Woman ) this was not the case. The stories go against
societies view with marriage roles and happiness. In The Story of an Hour by Kate
Chopin, the main character (Mrs.Mallard) is a married woman. Mrs.Mallard was
afflicted with a heart problem . The author was not very specific about her troubled
heart, which seemed to be a symbol of not just physical, but emotional distress as
well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This explains her sanity was gone and she was unhappy with herself. Eventually the
character isolates herself in a room, away from her family as she examined the
outside world through her window. The irony in that scene is that she was trapped
behind the outside world, just as she was trapped within herself. As she spent her
days in the white room, she began to develop different routines but none of them
satisfied her. She was unhappy with herself until she tried once more to transform
herself once again as a wife and mother. During her last attempt of being a housewife
she took the time to knit two sweaters for her husband and son. The sweaters were
both dull and gray as in lifeless, which is ironic towards the way the character
perceived herself or surroundings. In both stories, each woman was put into a
stereotypical role of being housewives. This was popular in history because women
did not have much choice or option rather then stay home and cook, clean, take care
of their children, etc. Both women were married but instead of appreciating their
lives in a joyful perspective, they were oppressed by their living conditions. In both
stories, there is a window scene mentioned. The window seems to have symbolism of
freedom which is ironic, because in reality they were both trapped in unhappiness.
Each time the characters looked through their windows, the outside view is described
through the characters perspective in a optimistic and desirable tune, while staying
7. The Role of the Fool in Twelfth Night by William...
The Role of the Fool in Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
In English Literature, a fool is a person professionally counterfeits folly for the
entertainment of others. They are always regarded as comic figures, which provide
mediation under tensional circumstances. As Twelfth Night is an atypical romantic
comedy, the jester is not the only fool who is subject to foolery, many other
characters are subject to foolery by their silly acts as well. There are two types of fool
in the play, namely Feste the professional jester who is in fact quite intelligent, and
the non jester fools, who are not fools but act like fools. Since Feste is the only
designed fool in the play, the role of Feste will be ... Show more content on

Although Feste does not make any profound remarks, he seems to be the wisest
person among all the characters in the comedy. Viola remarks this by saying This
fellow s wise enough to play the fool .
Feste contributes to the comedy in the play. Despite the humour of the comedy,
Feste dresses up as Sir Topaz, the preist and visits the imprisoned Malvolio with
Maria and Sir Toby. Sir Topaz uses his humour to abuse Malvolio, who is still
unaware that he is actually talking to the Feste than to the real Sir Topas. Feste
calls Malvolio a lunatic , satan and confuses him by wittingly making him a fool,
Then you are mad indeed, if you be no better in your wits than a fool Feste plays on
Malvolio s words and triumphs over him by twisting his words to make him look
foolish. Enraged by his poor treatment he says he will revenge on the all, I ll be
revenged on the whole pack of you which is again amusing as the audience would
know that Malvolio is even more egotistical since then.
Feste is not only a jester, but also a corrupter of language. As Viola says, this fellow
is more than just a clown , he must know the humour of whom he jests , Feste knows
how to make fun of people based on their

Days of Heaven is a romantic drama film directed by Terrence Malick. The film
was released in 1978 and stars Richard Gere, Brooke Adams and Sam Shepherd.
The plot consists of a story that follows Bill, his younger teen sister Linda and his
girlfriend Abby as they take up employment as sackers on a wheat farm in the
Texas panhandle. Bill is forced to flee his hometown of Chicago after he
accidentally kills the foreman of the steel mill at which he worked. After laboring
on the farm for some time Bill conspires against their new boss, who is suffering

The gazebo is illuminated, and the lighting is contained by curtains which separate
it from the darkness of the plain. The others in the gazebo are visible in the light
while Bill and Abby are only silhouettes. Their shadows are projected onto the
curtains, and all of their movement is in unadorned view of the Farmer. This
stylistic choice rehashes this dynamic of the lovers: the couple has a furtive
relationship in plain sight of their peers. After they kiss the camera cuts to the
Farmer, who s face is highlighted by the well lit gazebo. This is an example of
frontal lighting. His surroundings are pitch black and the audience is only able to
his face, which brings intensity to his expression. The high contrast lighting of this
scene allows the viewer to focus on the Farmer s discovery of a major aspect in the
plot, and adds austerity and weight on the Farmer s growing anger (Days of

lot. Earlier kings and other aristocrats but common people came into confidence and
were pumped up by lit. They were not able to express their miseries anyhow.
However, people started expressing their desires and conditions through poems. This
gave an idea to poets(also revolutionaries) to write poems and songs which had that
much sense of patriotism that it moved people to do something for their motherland
and for their freedom /the intensity of patriotism to that extend that after listening or
reading them, people should get moved to do something for their motherland/ to
write poems and songs in which/where patriotism was at that magnitude from where
it moved people to something good, to sacrifice their riches for their motherland and
for their freedom. However, many poets wrote on whatever they saw but whatever
they wrote, was such so charismatic that it immediately lit the fire in the souls of
people. There are several poets who can also be called revolutionaries who wrote

Story About My Life During the summer of 2017 life was perfectly fine, not
worrying about stress and being carefree and single. This is why it was carefree
and fun first I had a job at McDonald s which I thought was going to be boring and
dreadful but it turned out that I loved it the managers they were nice and I was
very good at every job they gave me and then when paycheck day came I was cut
400 dollars which didn t bother me much at first because the manager said he
would fix it I just had to give him all of my hours that I worked. Giving him all of
my hours was easy to do so I did that with no problem. After I gave him my hours 2
weeks have passed and I still never got my full paycheck then finally I talked to the
managers which apparently they had no clue about it and told me to talk to
another manager and then after that my brother took a vacation to Washington
state and never came back so I was done at that point I walked out and then a few
days later they gave me my paycheck s and begged me to come back, I considered
coming back but after all of that annoyance I wanted to have a good summer so
instead I never went back. This didn t hinder me of the good summer I wanted so
from there the summer truly began. After putting up with that I went fishing with
my Dad and for the first 3 days we didn t catch one thing but we never lost hope so
we kept giving another shot and my Dad caught a 10 lb. Largemouth Bass which
was the first time I ve ever seen a Largemouth
11. College Athletes Should Not Be Banned
Every year NCAA brings in approximately $6 billion from highly anticipated sports
events, such as this month s NCAA tournament March Madness , for example.1
While brackets will be broken, nets will be slashed, and the championship team
will be crowned, ultimately the real winner from college events like these is the
NCAA itself. While the relentless student athletes train rigorously day and night to
represent their schools, the athletes who participate do not see a single penny, even
though they are the ones who ...risk career ending injuries every time they onto the
court, field, or rink. The NCAA forces all amateur college athletes to sign a
contract, forbidding monetary compensation for their efforts and restricting them
from any sponsorship deals with payouts. This has posed a dilemma since the
early 1900s, because some of the best collegiate athletes have been dirt poor, while
the NCAA program has continued to make millions off of the names of athletes
who cannot afford to feed their own families. As a solution, all NCAA athletes
deserve to be paid. In the event that there were only one reason that college athletes
ought to be paid, it is that both the NCAA and the college itself utilizes players name
and status for its own financial benefit. Whether it is selling players jerseys or
signing autographs, the NCAA is successfully profiting off of the player whose
number is on the shirt, without giving any cut to the player himself. An eleven billion

12. Orlando s Theory Of The Deliberative Nursing Process
Critique Analysis This section presents an analysis of Orlando s theory. The
central thesis of the Theory of the Deliberative Nursing Process is finding out and
meeting the patient s immediate need for help. The concepts and propositions of
the theory are written at a concrete level of discussion (Fawcett, Desanto Madeya,
2013). The theory is classified as a middle range predicative theory. The theory
identifies the effects of a specific interpersonal nursing process on identification of
the patient s immediate need for help. origins. Ida Jean Orlando was born in 1929.
She obtained her diploma in nursing from New York Medical College, her Bachelor
of Science in public health nursing from St. John s University and Masters in mental
health nursing at Columbia University (Current Nursing, 2013). She was an
Associate Professor at Yale School of Nursing and Director of the Graduate Program
in Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing (Current Nursing, 2013). Orlando published
her book The Dynamic Nurse Patient Relationship in 1961. Orlando does not credit
any theoretical sources in the development of her theory (Necor, 2014, p. 5). She
formulated the deliberative nursing process from the considerable amount of data she
recorded on nurse patient observations. She evaluated facts from those observations
to develop her theory. Orlando proclaimed that her theory is valid and applied it in
her work with patients and nurses and the teaching of students (Necor, 2014, p. 5).

13. Essay on Division of labor in a Household
Division of labor in a Household
The division of labor in the household hold depends on the environment. Society
creates gender ideology that affects the roles women and men take on in the
household. In The Second Shift by Arlie Russell, she states three different ideologies
of gender. There is the traditional, transitional and egalitarian ideology that
determines what sphere men and women want to identify with, home sphere or work
sphere. However, it depends what kind on the time period and society you live in that
determines the norm gender ideology, which affects the division of labor in a

Women are working more and identify their womanhood with the paid work as
men do. Hochschild has claimed that in 1950, 30% of women were in the labor
force, but in 2002, 60%, of women were working outside the home in the labor force.
Women are working more outside from the house was one change, but another
significant transformation that occurred in the family devotion scheme was that
women have fewer children then they use to. During the 1800 s women had eight
children, but in 1988 the average less than two children. Having less children and
working outside the house affected the house devotion scheme. With the shift from
working at home (private farms) to working in the labor force, now men and women
are working outside the home creating dilemmas with the second shift (housework).
Today, it s 63% of all marriage with children is of two job marriage. Some mothers

With mothers working either fulltime and part time, there has been mommy wars ,

socially constructed cultural images on how mothers should behave. One of the
socially contracted images of mothers is the traditional mother or stay at home mom.
On the other hand, there is a portrait of the supermom or the working mother. This

United States. According the book, Economics for Today, Economists define
monopolistic competition as a market structure characterized by many small

the banking industry there are many small sellers; many of the sellers are the
primary competitors of Bank of America, they include: JPMorgan Chase, Wells

and are part of the three money center banks in America. According to the
Investopedia, Banks basically make money by lending money at rates higher than
the cost of the money they lend. More specifically, banks collect interest on loans
(Simpson). The net interest income makes up about half of Bank of America s total
income. The other half is made up of other services, for example, investment and
brokerage service and trading account profits. (King) Investment and brokerage
services primarily include asset management fees and commissions on the sale of

is easy to exit the market for various reasons. One of the reasons includes the broad
range of competition that Bank of America has. Not only does Bank of America

15. Dehumanization of Ivan Denisovich Essay
Dehumanization is a psychological process when people view others as less than
human, thus making them feel like they are less deserving of moral consideration.
Ivan Denisovich and all of the men in Gang 104 are dehumanized by the Majors and
gang leaders at the labor camp HQ. In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by
Alezksandr Solzhenitsyn, this Stalinist labor camp in which Shukhov is imprisoned
is designed to attack its prisoners physical and spiritual dignity, thus systematically
establishing the novel. The workers are physically dehumanized. They are constantly

It was no fur for them either (98).The occupants of the gang are not allowed to cover
their faces while they walk in negative thirty degree weather though snow and high
winds. It s as if the men are being punished before they start work, which is actually
their punishment. Inhumanity is also demonstrated when Solzhenitsyn writes if
they could fix the hoist now they could use it to bring up the bricks and mortar
(117). All day and everyday while Ivan and Gang 104 are constructing this power
plant building, there has been no hoist to carry the bricks to the top. This is
uncivilized because the hoist has been broken for eight years and, within eight
years, the hoist could have been fixed. By the hoist not being functional, the
workers feel less than human. Lastly, when Solzhenitsyn writes Shokhov got busy
and put another piece of pipe on top where the flue came out (125) this illustrates
inhumanity. Gang 104 received the task to rebuild the inside of the power plant.
Unfortunately, it does not need to be rebuilt; the task is just busy work. The
rebuilding of the power plant is extremely unnecessary because the officers chose
the job of Gang 104 knowing they would be working on this project for quite some
time. Inhumanity is not only displayed by how the zeks work, but is also
represented by how they get food and consume their food on a daily basis. How the
workers get their
16. Technology And The Digital Revolution
Cultural heritage sites are spaces full of rich culture and innovation, providing
abundant opportunities for visitors to learn and explore. They are valued for their
ability to broaden knowledge, expand minds and deliver new experiences to sites of
cultural and historical value. Digital technology is being used to combat some of the
main problems that cultural heritage sites face, including inaccessibility, the lack of
connection between visitors and objects, and the safety of objects during travelling
exhibitions. No longer bound to a specific site or to physical limitations, technology
is allowing modern museums to create unique experiences and encourage visitor
participation in unprecedented ways. Increased access to the internet has the benefit
of online sources being instantly available to anyone, anywhere, giving entertainment,
higher levels of connectivity, shared knowledge, and the ability to attract younger and
more diverse audiences. Spaces of cultural heritage have always shown the changes
and developments of human history, and as the digital revolution has changed what it
means to be a human being, it is natural that such spaces are utilising digital
technology. As Sarah Kenderdine, the director of the Laboratory for Innovation in
Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums, suggests; tradition must be re discovered
and re invented by each generation, and this is being done by the creation of digital,
interactive, multi sensory experiences that have the power
17. Mary Magdalene Research Paper
Sex worker, saint, witness, sinner, wife. In the 2000 years since Mary Magdalene
is said to have followed Jesus Christ, she s been categorized as many things. If the
biblical texts are reviewed then it can be seen that Mary Magdalene was not a
prostitute or Jesus wife because she is described in all four gospels as a disciple
and follower, even with consideration of recent pop culture portrayals and Pope
Gregory s opinion of who she was, there is enough evidence to suggest that she was
not what these pop cultures present her as.
Nowhere in the Gospels is Mary Magdalene linked overtly or covertly with
prostitution. In the Bible, in particular the Gospels, present Mary Magdalene as not
only a disciple of Jesus, but also as a witness of Christ s crucifixion and the first
person to witness his resurrection. Eleven of the twelve times that Mary Magdalene
is mentioned in the four Gospels, relate directly to the passion and resurrection of
Jesus Christ. It is clear from the Gospels that Mary Magdalene had a great love for
Jesus. In Luke 8:2 3, Mary Magdalene has been freed from her seven demons, and

Alison Jones, author of Saints, identifies that Mary Magdalene was Mary, the sister
of Martha, the woman who was a sinner . In 1969, the Catholic Church rolled back
centuries of categorising Mary Magdalene as such, stating she was far from the

the Gospels, he said, adding that she also has been portrayed as Jesus wife which is

22. Alexander Berkman s Activism
Alexander Berkman is most known for being the anarchist who attempted to
assassinate Henry Clay Frick, Carnegie Steel s anti union manager during the
lockout issues in the late 1800 s. This was one of his major actions as an anarchist,
however, there is much more to Berkman and his radical activism than his one act
of propaganda by deed. He was a larger part of the American anarchist movement of
the early 20th century than he is given credit for. I will explore Berkman s life and
political activism from origins in revolutionary Russia through his fight for American
workers and American anarchism, ending with his final Anarchist works in Europe
and eventual suicide.

Berkman arrived in Pittsburgh, where Henry Frick s office was located, on July 14
where he stayed with a couple fellow anarchists and met some other local ones. On
July 23 Alexander Berkman entered Frick s office and asked to see him. He was
told that Frick was currently busy by the receptionist, however he went passed and
entered the office. Berkman begins to call out Frick s name but immediately stops
when he notices the look of terror on his face, for some reason Frick realized what
was going on and it stunned Berkman for a moment. Berkman immediately draws
out his pistol and aims for Frick s head. He fires once and Frick falls to his knees
off of his chair. Even after the first shot Berkman stays completely focused on his
mission, I feel calm and possessed, intent upon every movement of the man. He
moves forward to fire again but gets into a struggle with another person who was in
the office at the time. Berkman pushes off the other man and fires again but
misses, he works his way towards Frick while fighting off the other man and at
point blank range pulls the trigger, but the pistol misfires. At that moment Berkman
is hit hard in the back of the head with a hammer by a carpenter who was doing
some work in a nearby room, Berkman falls to the floor and is jumped on by the
two men. Berkman struggles to crawl towards Frick and retrieve the dagger from his
pocket while the two men are struggling on top of
23. Analysis Of Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
Have you ever read a book where you read all about a lousy teenagers problems?
Maybe even his whole life. His crazy embarrassing family, and his weirdo friends.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid. A great book written by the one and only Jeff Kinney. Greg
Heffley, the main character, is a wimpy kid and most likely will never change his
ways. Someone tries to tell Gregs father, Frank. Frank tries to get his son to man
up a little bit and signs him up for sports and clubs. Which, obviously did not work.
... I got down off the deck and started climbing up the tree... I couldn t believe my
ears. I guess dad felt like he owed me for saving him yesterday, and this was his
way of paying me back (Kinney 109 and 113). The theme of the novel is to be
strong because someone will do something about it. The passage above connects to
this theme because Greg had to man up to climb the tree to retrieve his baby
brothers blanket after he threw it into a tree off of the deck. Afterwards, his father
did not want to take a turn playing a game because he did not want to sit next to
someone that he did not like. Therefore Greg took his place and basically saved his
life for the day. Although Greg s ways may never change he definitely made some
progress with manning up on that day. One setting from this novel that is important
to this book is the Heffley household. It is important to the book because if it weren
t for the Heffley house, many events would not have happened. Like Greg s dad
finding out his

The chief supervisor of patient escorts argued that the problem with the present
hiring system is that the application does not have any useful information on the
applicant. He said that there are no longer questions that give insights into the
employee s personality. His suggestion was to ask applicants about hobbies, outside
activities and their personal likes and dislikes on the application. He also suggested
that each applicant be required to have 3 letters of recommendation, centered on the
applicant s ability to be friendly at all times, from people who know the applicant
well. On the surface, this option seems doable and helpful. A ... Show more content

25. Perfecting Perfection
Perfecting Perfection Imagine that every day you heavily analyze something
insignificant. You spend hours analyzing this thing, but because this thing is
insignificant, your efforts are pointless. But, even with this knowledge, you continue
your stream of pointless analyzation every single day for as long as you can
remember. This is my life and that analyzation stems from my obsession with
perfection. Perfection isn t easily attainable; to make something flawless at every
angle requires a lot of time and effort which is why one cannot be perfect at
everything. This idea may seem intuitive to most people, but not for me. My mind
has completely expelled this principle and, instead, has fostered this ill minded belief
that everything in my life should be perfect, even if it s something insignificant. My
handwriting is the best representation of my problem. To many, the neatness of their

Poaching of Rhinos: A Growing Transnational Crime Industry
In 2011, the West African black rhino was declared extinct by the IUCN
(International Union for Conservation and Nature). Now all five rhino species left are
in the endangers list (Poaching: The Statistics). The reason the rhino population has
nearly been driven to extinction is due to poaching. The rhinos are being hunted and
killed for their horns, which is a valued ingredient used in traditional Asian medicines
(Poaching of Rhinos in the Spotlight). In this essay, I will explore why the rhinos are
being poached, the overall impact of poaching in the rhino population, and what the
authorities are doing to deal with this profitable transnational crime industry.

One being that the horns along with elephant tusks are used to create handles of
daggers. This however mostly happened in the 70 s and 80 s in Yamen

use it as a status symbol (PoachingStatistics). This is because rhino horn is more
expensive than most things out there. For example, one kilo of marijuana is rated
at about $5,060, one kilo of gold at about $42, 972, and a kilo of cocaine at about
$48,885. However, the value of a kilo of rhino horn is about $100,000. It is
estimated that one rhino horn can produce about $1 million dollars. This is the reason

27. Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, And Jim Parsons
If one would to ask you how Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, and Jim Parsons have
anything in common, the simplest answer besides them all having a name that start
with a J, is that they re among the many actors and actresses that enjoy successful
careers both on stage and on screen. Although film acting differs from stage acting,
the practice can still equip an actorto excel at both. But the point at hand is still at
question, just how do these two different forms of entertainment both come together
with their similarities, but yet separate when it comes to their differences?
Well, for starters, The biggest difference between acting for stage versus acting for
screen is the location of the audience. In a theatre, the stage tends to be far away
from the audience. Depending on the size of the theatre, the actors need to
exaggerate their facial expressions and gestures so even the people towards the
back of the theatre can see what s going on. For example, actors cannot express
sadness with just a single tear onstage, since only the audience members closest to
the stage will see it, leaving everyone else in a world of confusion as to what is
going on right in front of them.
When acting on screen, however, the camera can get extremely close to the actor,
which closes the gap between the audience and the ... Show more content on

For each live theatre performance, actors have just one chance to get thing in order
before they get on stage to perform. That s why it is so important to have a strong

production budget, microphones may or may not be used during a performance.
Even with a microphone, actors must practice and perform their lines accurately each
time, with crisp diction and clear enunciation. In musicals, actors must get their notes

Alan Page took advantage of the scholarship that the University of Minnesota gave

These college players need to take more of an interest in getting an education rather
than falling back on their sports career. Because college athletes are given a full ride

Colleges don t have enough money to pay all athletes. To pay every athlete you

pay all of the different levels such as: NCAA Division 1, Division 2 and NAIA. Dave

There are many children in this world who act with a mature mind, involving
themselves in any adult situations they come across. They act like they are mature

they are forcing themselves into. In doing so, they create pain to the adults that
are involved. Timothy Findley s novel, The Wars, Juliet, a character, involves
herself in every situation that only involves adults; consequently, she harms,
threatens and disrespects her friends. Juliet is the character in, The Wars, that has
this kind of disorder . She eavesdrops and uses her observation skills to hear all the
secrets that go on around their house. She feels no remorse with her continuous
use of eavesdropping towards the patients of the D Orsay house. At that young of
an age, she should be looked after more by her parents to ensure she will not harm
anyone else in the future and cause those around her to feel threatened resulting in
others not supporting her. Juliet s natural thoughts is to threaten her friends when
she feels it is necessary. Major Terry, Barbara s ex boyfriend, is a soldier who was
injured and arranged to recover in the D Orsay house. He was a sexual partner for
Barbara until Robert came to the house. Barbara becomes more interested in Robert
and emotionlessly ignores Major Terry. Juliet witnesses the actions Barbara has

30. Pyramid Of Power Analysis
The Pyramid of Power clearly demonstrated that men hold the ultimate power as
they placed on the top of pyramid (Lecture 3, Slide 7). With men being on top, it
means that women will have little power. The pyramid of power was arranged based
on the specific identities of every particular member that intersect with one another.
These specific identities include race/ethnicity, gender, religion, economic status,
sexual orientation, and so forth. Each individual is composed of several identities
that overlap to create oppression. The interaction of these identities is explained
through intersectionality theory (Lecture 3, Slide 14). Women are already
underprivileged compared to men. But, women of color are more at disadvantaged
in life compared to white women. This is due to the fact that women of color have
more intersecting identities that result in their oppression. In particular, women of
color deal with sexism differently as compared to other groups of women because of
their overlapping identities, such as race, gender and social class (Lecture 6, Slide14).

35. The Effects Of Pesticides On The Coffee Industry On Coffee
Coffea commonly known as a coffee plant is the member of the Rubiaceae family
(USDA 2015). While there are various species of the coffee plant, Coffee Arabica
and Coffee Canephora are mostly grown. However, between them Coffee Arabica is
considered to have greater quality and flavor. With the increase in demand of coffee
within coffee drinkers globally, coffee has successfully ensured its place to become
the world s second largest commodity. Brazil is known as the top manufacturer of
coffee followed by countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Colombia, and Ethiopia
(USDA 2014). The rising demand for coffee has augmented the dependence of the
coffee industry on countries that grows coffee. Using pesticides on coffee fields
seemed to be an ultimate solution for farmers who were hoping for maximum
productivity of coffee. Pesticides are used in agriculturein order to protect plants from
fungal diseases, pests, insects that affect the growth of food crops. On the short run,
using pesticides has an advantage as it increases the production and the quality of
coffee. However, pesticidepractices have negative issues on the environment, the
quality and the amount of coffee manufactured, and the health of the coffee drinkers
and the farmers in the long run.
The agricultural practice that involves the usage of pesticides has contributed in the
exploitation of the environment. The consumption of pesticides in countries that
grows coffee has increased rapidly over the decades. For example,

motivation to become more educated as she is bored with her ordinary life as a

reflects the significant issues of that time, such as an economic gloom, with
widespread inflation, low productivity, militant trade unionism and frequent strikes.
Within the poem A life by Sylvia Plath is mainly a commentary poem illustrating how
an individual s life is split in two, one half revolving around society and the other half
symbolising anything outside of the conformist nature of society.
Throughout the play of Educating Rita, readers are first introduced to a university
professor who is searching for his hidden alcohol bottles in each section of his
bookshelf. Being revealed to this personal interest, readers are summoned to
perceive Frank as a relaxed character. Jubilantly he moves to the Dickens section

38. The Secret River By Kate Grenville And William
Shakespeare
How has the Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare used compositional features to
express both similar and different ideas of difference and power?
The Secret River, set in England and Australia, was written by Kate Grenville in
2006. William Shakespeare s play Othello was written in 1603 and set in Venice.
Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare used compositional features to express both
similar and different ideas of difference and power. They have cohesive ideas of
power such as the use of structure and symbolism to convey power however, differ in
their structure. They both expressed race through the context of the novel, setting,
narrative perspective and imagery. However, 17th century english conveyed the idea
of difference with greater subtlety than Kate Grenville s use of modern english .
Similarly both texts contain powerful characters, however, these characters are
differently placed and different compositional features were used to portray these
ideas.
Kate Grenville and William Shakespeare expressed ideas of power through
representation of objects as well as the structure and society within the text. Both
texts express power through gender, race and class through the main characters.
Othello, and William Thornhill play the main roles in these two stories however, the

conventions in its setting, theme, point of view, and characterisation. Both Gilman

Setting in the Gothic horror story is important as it creates tone and atmosphere in
the story. One of the conventional settings in the Gothic horror story is often in a
remote locale with an isolated architecture. Gilman follows the conventions of the
Gothic story by setting up the scene as the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper
describes the house and feels its ground has fallen into a slight state of disrepair.
There were greenhouses, too, but they are all broken now. There was some legal
trouble, I believe, something about the heirs and co heirs; anyhow, the place has
been empty for years. The spoils my ghostliness, I am afraid, but I don t care
#65293;there is something strange about the house #65293;I can feel it (Gilman 76).
The narrator also complains about the room that she lives in, especially the yellow
wallpaper. She mentions about the wallpaper several times, saying that when you
follow the lame uncertain curves for a little distance they suddenly commit suicide
#65293;plunge off at outrageous angels, destroy themselves in unheard of
contradictions (Gilman 77). Gilman creates the setting that is superficially tranquility
but actually a place of confinement. In The rose for Emily, Faulkner uses a big, giant
house to have the Grierson family isolated from other town people. A Rose for Emily
is set in Faulkner s mythical country, Yoknapatawpha, Mississippi. The narrator
describes the house

Everyman is a morality play that was written in the late fifteenth century, by an
unknown author. It is unknown who originally wrote the play. It has been said that
maybe Monks and Priests of that time wrote these types of plays. Therefore, it is
believed that the play was probably written by multiple people. Morality plays were
written to show people how they should act in the eyes of Godand how the way they
live their lives will affect them after death. Everyman seeks to persuade the
audience that the only way to get into heaven when they pass, is to be a good
person and to do good deeds for others. The author of Everyman wants the audience
to understand that the way they live their lives is how they will be judged by death.

Everyman has a very clear moral message. People choosing goods over good deeds.
Foneska (2007) states that the character of Everyman is a universal representation of

and poor by the people who have riches was the ticket to salvation and eternal life
(1995). Everyman is obsessed with becoming richer and gaining more material
things. God has become fed up with mankind and decides to send Death to teach
them a lesson:

41. The Need for an Embedded Processor
Chapter 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. CURRENT SCENARIO
In current scenario, various sensors of plant is connected to the PLC for the data
communication and PLC is program such that it give controlling output according to
the threshold value of sensors. In this if the value of sensor is below or above the
sensor value then it gives the respective output. This output is nothing but the
controlling output from the PLC which gives signal to controlling device like value
or alarm etc. Also SCADA provide the Graphical user interfaceto the PLC unit so
that any programmer can see the process graphically with the help of SCADA. In
Plant SCADA and PLC are connected to each other which make a whole system for
Data communication and its controlling. There are various types of PLC are
available in the market. The selection of the PLC can be done as per the requirement
of number of input and output associated with the plant.

1.2. OBJECTIVE
The industrial plant have many type of analog data like temperature sensor, level
sensor, flow meter, pressure sensors etc. So in plant this type of data should be
analysed and then processed to achieve some specific action regarding it. The data
can be processed with the embedded processor. The embedded processor must be
programmed such that the data can process and give the require output. This system
is a data logger for the plant
42. Residential Warranty Tips
While many people prefer to hang their clothes outside, clothes dryers definitely make
things more convenient. Your clothes dryer is covered by home appliance insurance.
However, your clothes dryer does require maintenance. Below are some tips from
American Residential Warranty that will help you maintain your clothes dryer:
Read The Owner s Manual
American Residential Warranty recommends that you read the owner s manual
before you attempt to do anything. The owner s manual will give you specific tips
on things that you need to do do clean the clothes dryer. The manual can also help
you learn the specific parts of the clothes dryer.
Empty The Lint Trap
Many people who have home appliance insurance forget to empty the lint trap.
However, it is a good idea to empty the lint trap before putting clothes in the dryer
every time. It is also important for you to clean the lint trap on a regular basis. All
you need is a cloth and mild soap to clean the clothes dryer. You will then need to
allow the lint trap to air dry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helps prevent dryer fires. Lint buildup increases the risk of dryer fires by
reducing airflow. Keep in mind that dryers are the cause of 15,000 residential fires
yearly.
Disconnect The Exhaust Pipe
Every three to six months, you should disconnect the exhaust pipe. Remove all of
the lint. After that, you will need to run a vacuum hose or dryer vent through the
pipe in order to remove as much lint as you can. Make sure that you disconnect your
dryer and pull it away from the wall before you do this.
Avoid Overloading The Dryer
You should not overload your dryer. Dryers not perform efficiently when they are
overloaded. You will be able to extend the life of your dryer. It will also help you save
money on your electric bill because it uses less

Introduction:
The Domain Name System (DNS) is the system (or agent) responsible for resolving
Domain Names (such as www.google.com) to IP Addresses (such as 212.0.130.23),
which is required to make the Internet usable. This resolution list is distributed
throughout the Internet in a hierarchy of authority. There s normally a DNS server
hosted by ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to serve their clients (Rouse 2005).
The basic operation of DNS in a single Internet resource request is shown in Figure
1 (AFNIC 2009). It functions like a database that is distributed over DNS machines
that interact with each other to be able to respond to a user s query. The top of the
DNS hierarchy contains the top level domains, such as .com, which are controlled
by top level DNS servers. The DNS server implementation which is used for this
paper is BIND, which is the most widely used DNS server implementation on the
Internet today.
The Attack Surface of the DNS System:
The following are the general categories of attacks on DNS Servers, in terms of the
nature of the vulnerable target, which give the attacker the ability to impact on the
normal behaviour of the DNS Server and the Internet:

DNS Infrastructure Attacks
The first category of attacks concerns vulnerabilities within the anatomy of the DNS
protocol and the software implementation of the protocol. The second category of
attacks concerns
45. Makeup Controversy
Makeup has altered faces and sculptured society s standards of beauty, changing
and evolving since its origin in ancient time. For years society, has set impossible
beauty standards for women. Recently, we have had a hypocritical trend
concerning Makeup shaming. Makeup shaming is when a girl wears makeup to
hide the so called truth , like the imperfections and flaws that everyone deals with
daily. There have been years of controversy on why girls wear makeup and in a
recent video of a beauty guru on YouTube called Nikkie tutorials she commented
that people are Makeup shaming or trolling girls for wearing too much makeup.
Most of the beauty community on YouTube don t wear makeup because they are
insecure or not confident but to them it s an art, a way to express themselves and
they just absolutely love makeup. Makeup shamers shoot down others maybe
because they are insecure of themselves and they go find other people to criticize.
One side of the issue includes girls who see makeup as a way to express
themselves. When putting on makeup there isn t just one reason on why girls wear
it. Wearing makeup is a way to make themselves look prettier because they feel
insecure but in all honesty statistics have shown that even when you re not wearing
makeup you start to feel the confident if you were wearing makeup.... Show more

Makeup should be a way girls can express themselves and should be able to feel
confident with the way they are with or without makeup. Makeup isn t just meant
for hiding imperfections or changing the way we look. It is an art form that can
empower us and transform us into pretty much anything we want. I agree with
makeup guru Nikki for makeup being a way for girls to be able express themselves
because it makes them feel more confident, it gives them a way to express
themselves, creative outlet, and it s just a fun thing to
46. Building A Competitive Market Position Based On Value...
Gartner Framework Eight Building Blocks (Radcliffe):
1.Vision creating a picture of what the customer centric enterprise will look like, in
order to build a competitive market position based on value propositions that are
defined, communicated and personified by the enterprise brand.
Human Resource Information System (HRIS) constitutes of commonly adopted
management practice by organization in the twenty first century .It helps in fulfilling
of diverse expectations such as reducing costs, speeding up processes, improving
quality, and even gaining of more strategic role for HR within the organization .The
use of Human resource information systems (HRIS) has been advocated as an
opportunity for Human resource (HR) professionals to become strategic partners with
top management. The idea has been that HRIS would allow for the HR function to
become more efficient and to provide better information for decision making.
(Kashive)
2.Strategy developing a strategy to turn the customer base into an asset by delivering
customer value propositions. This includes setting objectives and determining how
resources will be used to interact with customers.
Much of the market strategy for HRIS is in the specialization of HR tasks and a
variety of implementation paths. Organizations of various sizes can select hosted or
SaaS models and make their own decisions regarding in house or outsourced
implementations. Ultimately each niche HRIS provider is seeking to provide the most
47. A Comparison Of Zen Buddhism And Pureland Buddhism
Zen Buddhism and Pure Land Buddhism are considered as two popular schools in
Mahayana Buddhism. The two are regarded as polar opposites. In this paper, I argue
that Zen Buddhism and Pure Land Buddhism are not entirely different, they still have
underlying similarities instead. Firstly, I am going to talk about the two themes,
Bodhisattva s compassion and emptiness in Mahayana. Bodhisattva is a practitioner
who experiences millions of rebirths before becoming Buddha. However, in order to
make sure that others are also enlightened, Bodhisattva put off his chance to enter
nirvana (liberation). For Bodhisattva, it s selfish that you only want to attain the
perfection of awakening for yourself instead of being compassionate to the people
who haven t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, they both emphasize on naturalness. D.T. Suzuki creates a term of isness
which is the same as what a Zen master said if you want to see, see right at once.
When you being to think, you miss the point. This depicts that things are all in itself
naturally not from something added outside. Also, there is a term called jinenhoni
(naturalness) in shinran s teaching representing our deep entrusting to Amida
Buddha. (Li, March 21, 2016; Li, April 6, 2016) Secondly, both of them reject
religious practices and magical benefits. According to D.T. Suzuki, Zen is not a
religion and there are no god or eternal soul existing. As for Shinran, he refuses the
reliance on prayer and divination. (Bloom 231; Li, March 21, 2016). Thirdly,
shinran believes that emptiness is beyond language. This is the same as a Zen master
story. Master Yunmen stuck a monk after he asked about what was the primary
phrase. Yunmen s purpose to strike is to teach him without using language. (Li,
March 18, 2016; Shinran 144) Lastly, Shinran said his teaching is transcending or
immediate which is the same as Zen s sudden awakening. (Bloom, 231; Li, March 21,
48. Cultural Differences in Self-Efficacy
Cultural Differences in Self Efficacy
Introduction Bandura (1997) defined self efficacy as beliefs in one s capabilities
to organize and execute courses of action required to produce given attainments (p.
3). Self efficacy refers to the judgments of what one can do with whatever skills one
possesses rather than the judgments of the skills themselves. In self efficacy theory,
people evaluate their skills and abilities and convert their beliefs about their
capabilities into purposive action (Bandura, 1997). As people enact their self
efficacy beliefs, they demonstrate a degree of control over (a) the activities they
choose to pursue, (b) the persistence they display in the pursuit of goals, and ... Show

Measures Most previous studies dealing with self efficacy used self report
measures. However, self report measures may have problem when applied to two
different groups of people using different languages. For this reason, cross cultural
psychologists suggested to use indirect measures (Biernat, Manis, Nelson, 1991). In
this study, indirect self efficacy measures will be used by comparing subject s actual
scores to their predicted scores on a cognitive ability task.
Instrument; Cognitive Ability Task The short form of the Advanced Progressive
Matrices (APM; Raven, Raven, Court, 1991) developed by Bors and Stokes (1998)
was used to test cognitive ability. As Bors and Stokes (1998) reviewed, APM is one
of the best measures of general intelligence and cognitive ability, and is considered a
culture free test because it requires minimal language skills. The short form APM
has proven psychometric properties (Bors Stokes, 1998). The test consists of 12
items, which are puzzles with missing pieces of figures for participants to solve. One
correct solution counted for one point, and a perfect test score was 12.
Procedure
20 subjects will be assigned to each group of condition, so 80 subjects are needed for
each source of self efficacy condition; total = 80 x 4 = 320. See table 1 for details.
The subjects in each group will be asked to perform the APM task. After the task,
they will be asked to predict their scores on it. The
