Essay On Population Explosion Wiki
Crafting an essay on the subject of population explosion, especially relying on Wikipedia as a
primary source, poses a unique set of challenges. While Wikipedia can offer a wealth of
information, it is crucial to sift through the content critically, as it may not always be entirely
accurate or comprehensive. The topic itself is multifaceted, encompassing demographic trends,
environmental impacts, and socio-economic dimensions.
The complexity arises from the need to present a balanced perspective, considering both the
advantages and disadvantages of population growth. Striking the right balance between
statistical data, historical context, and expert opinions requires meticulous research and a
discerning eye for credible sources.
Moreover, addressing the causes and consequences of population explosion necessitates a
nuanced understanding of various disciplines, including demography, economics, and
environmental science. Connecting these diverse strands in a cohesive narrative is a formidable
task that demands not only knowledge but also analytical skills.
Furthermore, the essay should steer clear of being overly technical or simplistic. Communicating
complex concepts in a manner accessible to a broader audience without oversimplification
requires finesse. Achieving clarity without sacrificing depth is an intricate balancing act.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on population explosion from a Wikipedia-centric perspective
demands a rigorous approach. It involves navigating through a vast sea of information, critically
evaluating sources, and synthesizing diverse viewpoints into a coherent narrative. Successfully
addressing the multifaceted nature of the topic requires a careful blend of research, analytical
skills, and effective communication.

Examples Of Conflict In The Wizard Of Oz
To begin, the type of conflict in the Wizard of Oz is person versus self. To start, in
the movie The Wizard of Oz during the initial incident, Dorothy ends up in the
tornado, then Oz. Dorothy has always wanted to go somewhere over the rainbow, and
there she is. However, she would later have many other emotions that aren t just
happiness. In addition, during the climax scene, Dorothy accidentally melts the witch.
The Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow get what they wanted from the Wizard.
Throughout their adventures in Oz, Dorothy realized that she just wanted to go
home. Her homesickness caused emotions that motivated her to go home, and
sometimes her emotions brought the worst out of her. Last, in the denouement,
Dorothy finally made it home, and she was in a coma the whole time. Now that
Dorothy is home, the conflict is resolved because that is what she wanted all along.
So, the type of conflict is person versus self because Dorothy experiences all these
emotions when she finally is away from home, and she just wants to go home.... Show

First of all, in the beginning, the Tin Man killed a bee on accident, and he started
to cry because of it. He had to have a heart if he felt bad about killing just a little
bee. Second of all, when Dorothy fell asleep in the poppy field the Tin Man starts
to cry. This also relates to the bee, he couldn t start to feel bad and cry if he didn t
have a heart. Third of all, the Tin Man follows Toto to the witches castle to save
Dorothy without any hesitations. The Wicked Witch s castle is very dangerous, he
so had to be very passionate about Dorothy to do this. Therefore, the Tin Man had a
heart all along, he just didn t use it to the fullest until he met
Islam Is A Progressive Religion
Despite popular assumption, Islam is actually quite a progressive religion. Bioethics
are not set in stone, although some scholars as well as Muslims do have strong
opinions about certain bioethical subjects. In the twentieth century, there was a very
limited amount of resources in the field of Islamic bioethics. The twenty first
century has marked an influx in research on Islamic bioethics from both Muslim
religious scholars as well as studies conducted by academic researchers (Ghaly 592).
In the field of religious bioethics, there tends to be a significant amount of coverage
on certain topics. In Islamin particular, scholars and the public alike readily discuss
abortion and euthanasia (Brockopp 3). Although Islamic customs emphasize the
importance of community, Islamic theology in general promotes the individual, not
communal, salvation. This means that in many situations, there are guidelines for
how one should act, but individual circumstances can differ therefore warranting a
private and individual action. Westerners often overlook this aspect of Islam, as there
are a lot of misconceptions revolving around Islam and the Muslim identity. In this
sense, despite there being general rules or guidelines Muslims tend to adhere to, there
is still a heavy balance between the general rules and individual circumstances;
meaning that bioethics can not be approached from only one view.
When looking at any issue, it is important to know whom exactly you are speaking

Online School
In today s generation, kids are constantly on their electronics, and not getting enough
social activity. Many people believe that having an online education will decrease
students communication skills, grades, and social activity. However, many people
have left public school and are attending an online schoolfor multiple reasons. Some
include: Students have a very flexible schedule, It s easier to get help during school,
and students overall have a lot more freedom.

Doing good in school and getting good grades is very important for the future and
the students education.Students should all be trying their hardest to get good
grades, but sometimes that means learning in a different environment. It can be
hard working in a building with other students and intimidating teachers. Online
school is a great option for those who are very self motivated. Having good grades
is something that can really make you proud of yourself and happy. Student are a
lot happier when they have good grades because they don t have all these weights
on their shoulders. Having late work and getting a bad grade on a test/quiz and
really put a lot of stress on students, they should work their hardest and sometimes
that is doing it independently. Most people believe that it s harder for kids to work
on their own and get good grades. But for a lot of students, it has improved their
grades, self motivation, and has reduced their stress
Statement of Purpose for Education Leading to a Career as...
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The future belongs to those who believe in the
beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt I believe it is the combination of
knowledge, leadership skills and certitude that will help bridge the gap between
dreams and reality. It is my aspiration to lead a successful construction based firm
and to be a one of the top entrepreneurs of my country. Without proper intellectual
and practical skills and their suitable implementation, it is difficult to achieve such
a high profile position. My pursuit for the above encouraged me to apply to the
Construction Engineering and Management program. My decision to opt for Civil
Engineering was result of my desire to contribute something advantageous to the
society since Civil Engineering directly has an impact on every individual s life as
well as all things, living or non living, around them and it provides most
practicable and real time approach to tackling nature as well as human problems.
Further, it plays a very crucial role in the infrastructural development of a country.
I had high academic profile in the course of my schooling. A year after opting Civil
Engineering in M.J. College of Engineering and Technology, I realized the
importance of two major aspects of study practicality of knowledge and work skill.
Since then, the former aspect was explored by reinforcing my theoretical knowledge
with the help of frequent visits to construction sites in my country as well as in
Middle East.
Protest In Gerbaudo s Tweets And The Streets
What is protest?/Examples?
Protests and social movements usually take place within state systems. State
authorities and decision makers concerning the change and reforms responding to the
demands of protestors are usually the intended targets. Whilst the majority of social
movements and protests within the 21st century are aimed at the state, it is still
known for protestors to occasionally challenge non state establishments like religious
organizations and university administrations (Johnston, 2011:1). Social movements
includes a range of political activities including but not limited to demonstrations,
marches, protests, press conferences, strikes, presentations and even sometimes
violent confrontations (Johnston, 2009:8).

There are structures that have formed as a result of protest, that are really powerful.
It is just that you did not need those structures to begin protest. You are enough to
start a movement. Individual people can come together around things that they
know are unjust. And they can spark change. Your body can be part of the protest;
you don t need a VIP pass to protest. And Twitter allowed that to happen. Ferguson
exists in a tradition of protest. But what is different about Ferguson, or what is
important about Ferguson, is that the movement began with regular people. There
was no Martin, there was no Malcolm, there was no NAACP, it wasn t the Urban
League. People came together who didn t necessarily know each other, but knew
what they were experiencing was wrong. And that is what started this. What makes
that really important, unlike previous struggle, is that who is the spokesperson? The
people. The people, in a very democratic way, became the voice of the struggle

Ames University Emission Report
INTRODUCTION
The faculty, staff and students at Ames University are committed to being at a zero
waste and emissions by the end of 2025. To that end, Ames University, has requested
that M Global s Department of Environmental Health, conduct a waste management
and energy audit at their campus in Garner, North Carolina. This audit was prompted
by a speech that the school s president heard while attending a conference at UNC s
Kenan Flagler Business School. The speaker, a DuPont representative, stated that new
DuPont factories in Asia have almost reached the corporate goal of zero waste and

In cotemporary America, cultural text such as films form many conceptions of race,
gender and social for the people who watch them. This paper argues four Key and
Peele skits Substitute Teacher , I Said B*tch , Phone Call and Proud Thug to
challenge and complicate gender norms by highlighting the ways in which gender,
race and class are performed in public and private settings. When you critically
examine these texts there are stereotypes that underlay the film that are obvious, but
are portrayed as comical. The intersectionality between gender, race and class are
often addressed in many of these short skits. Often the films or skits engage in
patriarchy and the main characters are men. In order to further examine the topic first

of the inner city qualities instilled in him. Mr. Darvey even goes on to pronounce the

stereotypes are obvious in this skit, but are put into a comical setting. Key and Peele
are often found using these stereotypes in many of their films. This is their own
attempt to challenge and to complicate gender norms.
Key and Peele challenge the way masculinity is viewed and share their own
perception on masculinity. In the Skit I said B*tch Key and Peele are two

Narrative Progression In Margaret Atwood s Happy
Endings
Happy Endings is a short story written by Margaret Atwood. The story is different
than what readers may be used to because it doesn t follow a traditional plot line.
Instead, Margaret s story follows an experimental narrative progression . This type of
story progression is a way that an author can manipulate, contort, or obscure the 5
Stages of Plotstructure (Hillard, Point of View in Fiction). In this essay, I will explore
how experimental narrativeprogression is used in Happy Endings , how it works in
the story, how it relates to the story, and my opinion on experimental narrative
progression in Margaret Atwood s Happy Endings . How is experimental narrative
progression used in Happy Endings ? This type of story progression is used in this
story because the story as a whole doesn t go in order of a traditional plot line. The
first story (the original story) serves as the ending for each of the other versions
that Margaret provides for the reader. Each of the new versions follow the same
characters as in the original story, but they lead different lives. For example, in the
original story the two characters fall in love with each other but in the next version
of that story the man doesn t love the woman even though she still loves the man.
Also, Happy Endings uses experimental narrative progression because there are
several beginnings and middles based on the story as a whole. However, there is
only one ending which is the original story.
The Effects Of Environmental Impacts On The Environment
When it comes to our environment in today s day and age, citizens only seem to see
it becoming worse and worse. In fact, most would even say that the world is beyond
saving with all of the impact greenhouse gases and the human way of living is
destroying our ecosystems. But that couldn t be further from the truth! Today, we
have plenty of efforts in place attempting to reduce, and hopefully reverse, the
negative effects on our environment. The transportation industry, one of the largest
contributors to CO2 emissions, is no exception. Amtrak, being the number one
passenger rail system in America, is making it an active goal to help preserve our
planet. For instance, Amtrak pays close attention to the level of carbon emissions
that it contributes on both a personal and overall scale. Just by traveling on Amtrak,
instead of various other options, you are choosing a mode a transportation that
contributes less greenhouse gases. Amtrak states that by riding on it instead of say
a car or plane, there is as much as a thirty percent increase in energy efficiency.
Amtrak also offers CO2 offsets by allowing passengers to buy back the amount of
greenhouse gases that they personally added as a natural result of their travel.
Through a partnership with Carbonfund.org, Amtrak has created a tool called the Rail
Calculator which calculates the amount of carbon emissions generated by the
passenger s rail travel based on the distance that they traveled and then compiles a
price that the

James Thurber s personal relationships and life events strongly influenced the way he

E.B. White helped James Thurber with his first short story it influenced his writing

The True Inner Nature Of Simon
Thought out the millennia, magic, sorcery, and the use of certain board games have
drawn unsuspecting confessing born again believers into the lively hood as Simon
the magician; a believer that lives under the false premises of being truly born again.
This may seem a harsh judgement however, listen to what Peter tells the church to do

at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey

Therefore, a person cannot mock God in words or be separated from the world
without the Lambs blood applied on their lives period. Which is provided by Jesus

individual request from the sinner to receive this gift truly out of a repentant heart

Simon heavily embodied with the excitement of the people who followed him and

Peter and John. Simon for years was able to pull the wool over the Samaritans eyes

Simon was in fact so successful that the people of Samira erected a statue in his
godly honor, boasting his ego further. James Inglis states it this way: ... he did not
ask for that which was common to believers, but for a superior privilege, to which it
seems incredible that he should have aspired had he not received that which other
believers had received.
Simon s focus was how to obtain and make a living by using the gift of the Holy
Spirit, rather than serving God. Bob Deffenbugh states: Simon the magician was

Women have been continuously institutionalized through out history. For many
years, they have been subjected to being labeled as less than. During the 1950 s
women were institutionalized because they were expected to remain a house wife,

Star Wars Research Paper
During the summer of 1999, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace stormed theaters with a
wave of anticipation that was unprecedented. By that point, Star Wars was assumed
to be a thing of the past until George Lucas decided to revisit his beloved creation. It
sent fans into a frenzy of immeasurable proportions, lighting a fire in the adolescent
hearts of millions and millions...and millions.
But, then something strange happened.
The Phantom Menace wasn t the Star Wars we all knew and loved. It was riddled
with endless CGI, water dwelling creatures that just wouldn t shut up, and a little kid
that you couldn t help but want to perish in a pod racing accident. And, although the
two sequels that follow, Attack of the Clones Revenge of the Sith, gradually got better
it still didn t change the fact that the Power of the Forced had been tainted and
diminished.
So, why should anyone believe The Force Awakens will be any better? Scratch that.
What makes anyone believe The Force Awakes will be the Star Wars film that fans
deserve?
Keep in mind, I m as big a Star Wars fan as the next person but we ve been here

Nostalgi A Portrayal Of The Past
Nostalgia: A Portrayal of the Past In the films Castle in the Sky and Princess
Mononoke, by director Hayao Miyazaki, there are many references to times that
took place before the events that occur in the stories. Certain historical events can
be seen to have affected the way in which Miyazaki handles events of the past
concerning nostalgia. The way in which he presents technological concepts can
represent his feelings towards history and how it should impact the present. These
views on nostalgia often contrast with the way in which American animation
typically views the events of the past. Castle in the Sky presents the idea of an
ancient civilization with a secret power that is only accessible to the heir to Laputa.
Hundreds of years have passed since the ancient technology has last been accessed,
and only legends of the place called Laputa still remain. Associated with these
legends are tales of a great destructive weapon that was once fought over to the
extent that it needed to be hidden away. The main character, Sheeta, held the only
key to rediscovering the ancient power. Concerning the technology that is used post
the age of Laputa, there seems to be a retro evolutionary trend. Instead of the
technology trending towards a higher level of advancement, it regresses to a more
rustic form. This is evident in the flying machines, automobiles, and railroads that are
used, which are mechanically similar to pre world war II designs. Alternatively, the
technology that is

Skiing Is Better Than Snowboarding Essay
Why skiing is better than Snowboarding
The battle between skiing and snowboarding has been going on for years. Many
loyal skiers and boarders have fought for their style of shredding the powder. This
controversial topic has torn many friendships apart. Snowboarding participation fell
4.5 percent during the last five years, while skiing grew 6.7 percent, according to the
National Ski Areas Association. Skiing is better than snowboardingbecause skiing is
much easier to learn, skiers have more agility, and skiing is much safer.

This lift is however not as easily accessed by snowboarders. The snowboarder must
unclip a binding and with one foot still fastened to the board move into position in
a skateboard motion. The T bar lift forces snowboarders to ride up the hill in a
perpendicular position. This makes it impossible for a snowboarder to place the bar
between his or her legs because it will make them off balance and if the
snowboarder falls he or she has to go back to the beginning and try again.
Having Two Skis is Better Than One Snowboard
The physics of skiing and snowboarding are very similar. They both rely on a
downwards pull from gravity. This pull is what turns the potential energy into kinetic
energy. As a smooth surface (or two) pass over the snowa small amount of energy is
lost to friction. The bottom of the skis or board zoom across the surface of the snow
creating heat. The heat along with the weight bearing down on the snow melt some
of the snow creating a film of water on the bottom of the surface. Some energy is also
lost by through wind resistance of the riders silhouette.
These principles are similar between the two sports, but their biomechanics are far
from the same. It is easier for an amateur skier to keep his center of mass tucked
away safely between the skis, this helps to avoid falls even when turning. The
snowboarder, on the other hand, has constantly to

Resource Oriented Architecture
Resource Oriented Architecture (ROA) is the structural design supporting the
internetworking of resources. A resource in this context is any entity that can be
identified and assigned a uniform resource identifier ( URI) (whatis.techtarget.com).
Per Dr. Roy Fielding, Resource oriented software is known as an architectural style
that exploits the existing technology and protocols of the web, including HTTP and
XML. There are four concepts that are most essential for ROA s which are:
Resources
Names (URIs)
What they represent
Links between each
And there are also four properties;
Addressability
Uniform Interface
Statelessness
Connectedness (whatis.techtarget.com).
With ROA s it is very important to first determine what should be considered as a
Resource, this is what really distinguishes the difference between the SOA s and
the ROA s, once this has been done the next thing would be to determine the
resource types and how to invoke methods and also how to correspond to the
responses. The resources will be accessed through the HTTP interface. Because the
Resource Oriented Architectures are still in its beginning stages, in my opinion, I
don t believe it would be the best choice between itself and a Service Oriented

Our Nation s Critical Infrastructure
In the past sixteen years the United States has seen significant changes to the national
policies that protect the population and its critical infrastructure. Two main agencies
that arose from the 911 Attacks were the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
and the Department of Homeland Defense (HLD). These two agencies are
responsible for protecting countless potential terrorist targets, millions of citizens,
and the thousands of miles of U.S boarders. How can two government agencies
protect so many assets? This paper will explore the two agencies and identify key
roles, responsibilities, resources, and operations. It will highlight the efforts shared
between the two agencies and provide the authors own definition of the DHS. Lastly,
this paper will identify our nation s critical infrastructure and how it intertwines with
the DHS and HLD, by discussing the resources needed to operate successfully. These
two agencies may be separate organizations but they have much more in common
than one might think. Let s begin by looking at the primary mission of each agency.
According to classroom text, The DHS is responsible for preparation of, prevention
of, deterrence of, preemption of, defense against, and response to threats and
aggression directed towards U.S. territory, sovereignty, domestic population, and
infrastructure; as well as crisis management, and consequence management (Week 1
Lesson). The DHS has a wide array of responsibilities that incorporates twenty nine
Suicide In Antigone
In Sophocles play, Antigone, suicide and death are major themes in the plot and
they make Sophocles work interesting and unique. While in today s society, suicide
is typically looked down as weak and a way to run away from problems the main
character, Antigone commits suicide as a way to defend her honor and faith. This
woman is the daughter of King Oedipusand Queen Jocasta, who string from
Sophoclesfirst Greek tragedy, Oedipus Rex. The play begins with Antigones lament
as she cannot give her brother a proper burial. Out of desperation, she breaks the law
of the king and buries him, eventually committing suicide in order to escape
execution by the Theban king, Creon. She does this as a way of defy the kings rule
and to bring justice to her brother. With her death, Antigone ultimately causes chaos

She had a deep connection with her dead brother Polyneices, who was killed in
battle for control of Thebes. When the new Theban king, Creon proclaimed that
her brother was a traitor, he banned his rights to be buried, having his body rot on
the ground. This deeply upset Antigone because she truly believed that he wouldn
t be able to move on in the afterlife if he wasn t buried. Her quote from the play
shows her grief and foreshadows her suicide. I urge no more; nay, wert thou
willing still, I would not welcome such a fellowship. Go thine own way; myself
will bury him. How sweet to die in such employ, to rest, Sister and brother linked in

mind; bury Polyneices, or let him suffer eternally. With that in mind, there was only
one thing she could do; defy the kind and give her brother a proper send off, despite

Under The Skin
Under The Skin (2014) Disturbing, nightmarish and isolating; Under The Skin is a

Last Tango in Paris (1972) Sex, suicide and butter; this film is anything but a
romantic love story. Last Tango In Paris is an intellectual sexual drama that bases
itself on the sexual union of two very different people in the bohemian setting of
Paris during the post sexual liberation era of the 1970s.
Marlon Brando plays a troubled middle aged American, Paul, who rents an apartment
with an attractive and confident Parisian, Jeanne (Maria Schneider). It is in this
room that the two pursue a sordid affair where Paul insists that neither of them know
each others names or backstory. The dirty, empty and bleak apartment and the musty
mattress in the middle of the living room represents the lives of both Paul and
Jeanne. For these people sex is the perfect distraction from the real world.
Certainly the most interesting of characters; it is through sex with a stranger in which
Paul can gain control and escape the pain of his wife s suicide something he could

The Truth Behind Animals in Captivity
Animal activists documentaries and incidents have recently brought up the question
of weather or not animals should be held in captivity for human entertainment or
conservation. A series of recent events has the general pubic asking them selves if
animals should be allowed to be in captivity. On February 24, 2010 Tilikum, a
12,000 pound killer whale held at Sea World Orlando, dragged trainer Dawn
Brancheau to the bottom of the tank during their daily show performance Dine with
Shamu, killing her. This was not the first time Tilikum had killed one of his trainer,

The Humane Society conducted a study in 2009 and found some of the negative
side effects on marine mammals in captivity. In the wild dolphin and whales can
spend up to 80% of their time in the ocean depths and the remaining 20% of their
time at the oceans surface (Marine). Because of the shallow and small tanks they
spend more time on the surface causing skin problems. This also caused their dorsal
fins on top to collapse without the support of the ocean water gravity pulls the fins
over. In the wild a dorsal fin collapse happens in approximately 1% of killer whale
and in captivity all male and most female whales experience it. Most animals are put
into cages much smaller than their natural habitat restricting their natural instincts to
roam around. Confiding animals to a single area could also causes unsanitary
conditions to arise if the animals reproduce quickly since they would all be close to

Chevy Corvette Characteristics
Chevy Corvette, and the Chevy Sonic possess entirely different images from one
another. The Chevrolet Corvette gives the image and performance of a sports car
(Ferrell and Hartline, 2014). Features included by the Chevy Corvette include the
various customizable styles like the Stingray Coupe, a capacity of 2 passengers, gas
engine, 2 doors, rear wheel drive, and a variety of safety features. (Chevrolet, 2017).
These features make the Corvette a rather expensive car that is owned by race car
drivers, passionate car consumers, and people who are in their fifties (Ferrell and
Hartline, 2014). Americans have always had a penchant for collectibles, including
coins and stamps. Corvette madness was an example of this (Regan, 1979). The

Puma Concolor Essay
The stability of Felidae Puma Concolor can only be ensured with the enforcement of
legislation targeted to transform highways and human residences; the fractioning of
puma territory in California is detrimental to the species. The Felidae Puma Concolor
is known by many names cougar, puma, mountain lion, the cat is often mistaken for a
bobcat.
Hypothesis: The highways which cut through the great forest and mountain ranges of
California are a large contributor to the population of California s Mountain Lions
due to the division of natural environmental habitats. Human communities also play a
role in Mountain Lion population stunts because human neighborhoods are ever
expanding.
An approximate number of 100 200 California Pumas are killed a year. This

Puma leaves the territory of the mother to find their own for food purposes. The
young Pumas do not do well in locating home range territories near by because
older male lions preoccupy them, thus the young adult puma is sent to edges of

Winning The Excellence Scholarship
For me, receiving the Excellence Scholarship is an opportunity that would allow me
to pursue the Bachelor s degree program at Г‰cole Polytechnique. Without the
scholarship, it would be financially difficult for my family to fund my education and
considering the fact that I intend to join academia, incurring a massive debt at this
stage of my educationmight deter me from even pursuing a Ph.D. later on. Thus, to a
large extent, the monetary benefits of the scholarship would relieve me of the

interests in Mathematics and Physics with undivided attention.
Winning the Excellence Scholarship would also mean that the committee recognizes

What Is The Aftermath Of The Kent State Shooting
The Kent state shooting occurred in Ohio, at Kentucky State University in 1970. It
involved the shooting of four unarmed students by Ohio National guard. Shortly after
Richard Nixon attempted to gain the support of the American People to invade
Cambodia s borders, numerous students across all the states started to protest against
his quick expansion. Once threatened, the Federal government felt the need to use
military force to oppose the students, minimize violence and vandalism. Nevertheless,
several Americans felt that their constitutional rights were violated since the
government was attempting to dismiss their perspectives on the aftermaths from the
war in Vietnam. During one of the protests, particularly in Kent State a shooting

Descriptive Essay About Mackinac Island
Ahh. I took a deep breath of sweet air that smelled of fudge, which was accented by
manure from one of the most popular things about Mackinac Island horses! It was
awesome to be back here after a year. Every year, it is hard to leave Mackinac. Every
year, leaving is like breaking a chain that keeps you tied to the island. Every year, I
miss the horses and the fudge, the amazing views and skipping rocks in the water.
All of these finer qualities of Mackinac Islandand more, makes me not want to leave.
Once back home last year, the hours in a day seemed to drag along, but I d look back
at the end of the week and think: wow, it s been a week already?
A rippling breeze stirred as my family and I coasted into downtown Mackinac Island,
which happened to be cloudy. My family loves the Island. My mom and dad love the
porch at the Haan s 1830 Inn, I love downtown, as well as a few other special
places, and so does my brother (for the ice cream, of course!), and my sister loves
pretty much everything! Downtown is one of my favorite parts of the island. So
many bustling tourists, so many busy shops, so many strong, hard working horses. I
looked around as we coasted through downtown, even though I pretty much knew it
by heart. I saw some of my favorite shops and restaurants, like the Chuckwagon, The

The chapter provides a brief outline on World s energy consumption spectrum and
its impact on the global warming issue. An overview of absorption and adsorption
technologies for post combustion CO2 capture from coal fired power plants is
discussed. The advantages of adsorption over other absorption and subsequently
the importance of amine tethered mesoporous silica adsorbents for CO2 capture is
discussed. Thereafter, the chapter presents the outline of objectives of the doctoral
work followed by organization of the thesis. 1.1. Introduction In the recent years,
World s energy consumption has been increasing at a rapid rate due to economic
development and population growth. The International Energy Outlook report
released in July 2013 (IEO2013) projects that there will be 56% rise in the world
energy consumption by 2040 (ref). It has been projected that total world energy use
rises from 524 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) in 2010 to 630 quadrillion Btu
in 2020 and to 820 quadrillion Btu in 2040, which corresponds to an increase of
16% and 36% respectively (Figure 1.1). It has been predicted that much of the
growth in energy consumption may occur in countries that are not included in
Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) (ref). At present,
there prevails huge variation in the economic performance of various countries world
wide. For OECD countries, the pace of economic growth varies but is relatively slow

Zaire and Rwanda Essay
The refugee massacre that occurred in the years between 1994 and 1996 in Zaire
demonstrates a worst case scenario of refugee camp militarization. It is by no means
a typical case of refugee warriorism, however, it does exemplify an opportunity
structure that fosters an environment conducive for militarization. The massacre of
refugees in Zaire stems from the Rwandan genocideof 1994 which witnessed the
deaths of 200,000 to 1 million ethnic Tutsi and moderate Hutu.2 The conflict ended in
the victory of the ethnic Tutsi Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) and the defeat of the
ethnic Hutu Forces ArmГ©es Rwandaises (FAR). Consequently, 1.72 2.1 million
Hutu refugees fled the country into Burundi, Zaire, Tanzania, and Uganda.3 Dr.

They forced refugees back in to Rwanda by gun point and cut off access to food.8 By
May 1997, aid workers discovered that the majority of the refugee camps had
completely emptied and finally after the AFDL took Kinshasa, it gave the United
Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) sixty days to repatriate any
remaining (surviving) Hutu refugees.9
Tanzania and Rwanda Like Zaire, Tanzania was severely affected by huge
population influxes stemming from the situation in Rwanda. Prior the major
influx in the 1990s from Rwanda and Burundi, Tanzania had an open door policy
towards refugees and was a haven for asylum seekers.10 President Julius Nyerere
not only encouraged an open door policy, but he also encouraged refugee warrior
movements against colonial regimes. He saw refugees as vital sources of labour
and also as freedom fighters. However, this changed following the end of Nyerere s
reign and refugees were subsequently re categorized from freedom fighters to threats
to Tanzania s insecurity. This policy shift partly results from the scope of the crisis
(Tanzania was hosting 85% more refugees in 1994 than it was the previous year)11,
economic and political restructuring of the government and a revamped security first
attitude from the

Next, I would do is get a bunch of money from cheating the system. For example, I
would go to the future and get the winning lottery numbers, and place my bet and

The dystopian element is similar to source #1 the host because they both have
citizens who want to take their world back. Within the movie Demolition Man the
main character John Spartan choses to lead a rebellion against the new
government leader because of his unjust ways of living. John goes down into the
under living areas where people don t follow the rules up above and have their
own way of living. The sewer people consider John to be a blessing in disguise
causing them to get riled up and deciding to kill Dr. Raymond Cocteau. Demolition
Man shows how citizens conform to uniform expectations and rebel by the sewer
people deciding to kill Dr. Raymond Cocteau the leader of the normal world. This
is also demonstrated in The Host when Melanie beings to take back her own body
and rebels against Wanda. The Sewer people in Demolition Man effect the society
up above because they take their food also show them their way of living by
wearing whatever they want and doing whatever they want. Inside the dystopian
society another main character Simon Phoenix breaks many laws also getting a
small amount of people to follow him into battle against the above world. Simone
leads with John Spartan in order to get their city back to the way it was originally
and towards the end of the movie they succeed. After Simone kills Dr. Cocteau
John leads the sewer people up from under the world and shows them their new
world they then begin to ignore all of the old laws and the citizens from up above
follow the new rules and many continue to join making their new world. This finale
act of rebellion shows how even small acts can lead to big changes. The dystopian
element of citizens conform to uniform expectations and rebel act as a bonding path
of Demolition man and the host as both main characters cause a rebellion so big that
they end up
Literature Review On International Business
Literature Review Each year, many companies resort to or consider expanding
abroad. Sensing a need for guidance, a number of authors have written and expressed
their opinion on what it takes to succeed when expanding a business overseas. Lists
of suggestions and tips on how to deal with issues such as cultureas well as the laws
in target countries have been made available to businesses. The following research
articles were reviewed to obtain some knowledge of the factors that need to be
considered when expanding a businessinternationally. The issues examined involve
culture, foreign laws regulation, political risks, as well as market structure and
competition. Based on this literature review, we were able to give profound advice on
whether the company should actually consider expanding the business to Europe.
Communication and Cultural barriers Communication with individuals from different
cultures can be challenging. Therefore, developing proficiency in cross cultural
communication skills is essential for businesses looking to expand abroad. Cebuc and
Oisif (2008) stress on how communication is important in the business world, since it
s a means of establishing relationships with suppliers, partners and even the
customers. The writers recommend that expanding businesses to try and adapt to the
business styles of the overseas country. For instance in some northern European
countries, the natives are more straight forward and prefer to not waste time talking

Thus, people who are attempting to preserve cultures by denying this right to new
opportunities are trapping people in ideals they rather change. Once a culture accepts
the innovations that come along with globalization it depends on each community to
either completely transform their way of living or keep their traditions. As Appiah
notes, how people respond to these cultural imports depends on their existing cultural
context (Appiah 3) meaning that people interpret the innovations according to their
former beliefs and cultures since things might change but their mentality does not.
However, in my opinion globalization has more advantages than disadvantages and
it is up to each individual to apply those advantages for the best while still following
their old traditions. For example, families that are secure and rich usually have the
power to control their children in guiding and supporting them throughout their
teenage lives. Hence, the younger generations are more open to following their
family traditions. However, the families that have issues to support their families by
using food stamps or working 3 different jobs usually have less influence and control
over their children. Therefore, these children begin to question their families core
values and traditions and begin to adapt their own new way of life. Nevertheless,

U.s. Bush And The United States
Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot
touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the
steel of American resolve (George W. Bush). Bush was referring to Tuesday
September 11, 2001. This day is what woke up the sleeping giant that was America
and forced America to form into a great country again. Events in the 2000 s such as
the signing of Bush Doctrine, creation of homeland security, Google, the successful
mapping of genome, Obama becoming the first non white president, Wikipedia was
launched, all helped improve our country. Between politics, american values, foreign
affairs/conflicts, popular culture, the economy, and technology/ innovation all make
this century worth studying.
Politics is something that has been around since the start of times and usually is the
talk of the town. During the 2000 s there were three presidential elections the first
one took place in 2000. The Republican candidate was George W. Bushand the
Democratic candidate was Al Gore. This race was extremely close. The final state,
Florida, which was the deciding factor, was so close there was a recount. This
became so big it went to the supreme court, Bush vs. Gore. But in the end George
W. Bush won with only 5 more electoral votes than Al Gore. This marked the fourth
election in U.S. history in which the eventual winner failed to win at least a plurality
of the popular vote (after the elections of 1824, 1876, and
Sodomy In Seventeenth-Century England
In seventeenth century England, the crime of sodomy was considered to be a
heinous sin. In a time when religion governed law, homosexuality was not tolerated.
The case against Lord Audley, Earl of Castlehaven, represents the treatment of those
convicted in engaging in sexual behavior with men. Not only was sodomy frowned
upon because it went against Gods laws, but it was also considered a crimeagainst
honor. LordAudley s trial shows that a crime of deviance is worse than a crime
against another human being in seventeenth century England.

The charge of prevaricating with his religion obviously weighed heavily against
Castlehaven as it received the blame for his sinful ways. The Lord High Steward
stated that if there were false accusations made, God will put it into th Hearts of
these Noble Lords to find it out but their hearts had been tainted with the fear of
sodomy. Homosexuality was not recognized but was attributed to deviant
behavior. This deviance was feared so much that those who committed it would be
sentenced to death. It is referred to as something so abominable and vile a nature
and a Crime not to be named among Christians . In Cynthia Herrup s article The
Patriarch at Home: The Trial of the 2nd Earl of Castlehaven for Rape and Sodomy ,
she updates Bingham s analysis of the trial and brings it into the modern world.
She writes that he was convicted of these crimes in defiance of the power
delineations of early modern society Herrup supports Bingham s theory that she
understood the trial to be primarily about the fear of sodomy rather than the crimes
themselves. The fact that he encouraged the raping of his wife and daughter are
surpassed as the crime of sodomy comes to light. Whether the crime was
punishable by death because it was a crime against God s commands or because of
society s fear is questioned in the trial. However, the evidence points to the latter. He

Finding Nemo has an unexpected twist, at the very beginning, when Marlin (Albert

The voice over acting seems to fit perfectly to the personality of each character in

Disadvantages Of Empowered Deliberative Democracy
n their research, Fung and Wright (2001) review the reform efforts known as
Empowered Deliberative Democracy (abbreviated as EDD). They state that EDD
actually promotes the idea of radical democracy and deliberation, thus inviting the
citizens to take real action, take part in politics, and to enter into a meaningful
dialogue with the governmentto make the decision making process as transparent and
efficient as possible. Hence, when reflecting on the advantages of such approach to
practicing democracy, the researchers intend to indicate that the EDD model can be
also helpful in deepening democracy due to a number reasons (above all due to its
ability to connect action to discussion (Fung et al, 2001, p. 7).
Moreover, according to the experts, as one of the most progressive organizational
reforms, EDD ensures the better understanding of democratic practices and their
importance (Fung et al, 2001, p. 7). From this, it follows that applying the
principles of EDD is another measure which could help to reinforce democracy in
the context of the present day world. Faguet, Fox, and Pöschl (2015) also make an
attempt to shed some light on the ways that could help to deepen democracy. By and
large, they argue that despite the long standing criticism of the decentralization
policies, it has a fair chance of enhancing democratic positions by making the
political regime more flexible (or supple ) (Faguet et al., 2015, p. 61). When

Health Promotion Model And Mid Range Theory Essay
Theories in the Nursing Field The nursing field comprises different theories that are
used to govern nursing practice through offering different perspectives and views of
phenomena. A theory can be defined as the development of a link between concepts
that create a certain view of a phenomenon (Jackson, n.d.). The theories in the nursing
field focus on issues that are relevant to enhancing patient care, overall nursing
practice, and nursing education. Moreover, these theories are used to define, create,
and distribute existing knowledge in the profession as part of efforts towards
improving nursing practice. The theories in nursing field are classified into different
categories i.e. ground nursing theories, nursing practice theories, and mid range
nursing theories. Some examples of these various types of nursing theories include
Nola J. Pender s Health Promotion Model (HPM) and Mid Range Theory. These
theories differ in terms of the theorists backgrounds and their experiences, description
of theory, assumptions, and application in nursing practice. Health Promotion Model
and Mid Range Theory The Health Promotion Model was developed by Dr. Nola J.

  • 3. Islam Is A Progressive Religion Despite popular assumption, Islam is actually quite a progressive religion. Bioethics are not set in stone, although some scholars as well as Muslims do have strong opinions about certain bioethical subjects. In the twentieth century, there was a very limited amount of resources in the field of Islamic bioethics. The twenty first century has marked an influx in research on Islamic bioethics from both Muslim religious scholars as well as studies conducted by academic researchers (Ghaly 592). In the field of religious bioethics, there tends to be a significant amount of coverage on certain topics. In Islamin particular, scholars and the public alike readily discuss abortion and euthanasia (Brockopp 3). Although Islamic customs emphasize the importance of community, Islamic theology in general promotes the individual, not communal, salvation. This means that in many situations, there are guidelines for how one should act, but individual circumstances can differ therefore warranting a private and individual action. Westerners often overlook this aspect of Islam, as there are a lot of misconceptions revolving around Islam and the Muslim identity. In this sense, despite there being general rules or guidelines Muslims tend to adhere to, there is still a heavy balance between the general rules and individual circumstances; meaning that bioethics can not be approached from only one view. When looking at any issue, it is important to know whom exactly you are speaking about

  • 5. Statement of Purpose for Education Leading to a Career as... STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt I believe it is the combination of knowledge, leadership skills and certitude that will help bridge the gap between dreams and reality. It is my aspiration to lead a successful construction based firm and to be a one of the top entrepreneurs of my country. Without proper intellectual and practical skills and their suitable implementation, it is difficult to achieve such a high profile position. My pursuit for the above encouraged me to apply to the Construction Engineering and Management program. My decision to opt for Civil Engineering was result of my desire to contribute something advantageous to the society since Civil Engineering directly has an impact on every individual s life as well as all things, living or non living, around them and it provides most practicable and real time approach to tackling nature as well as human problems. Further, it plays a very crucial role in the infrastructural development of a country. I had high academic profile in the course of my schooling. A year after opting Civil Engineering in M.J. College of Engineering and Technology, I realized the importance of two major aspects of study practicality of knowledge and work skill. Since then, the former aspect was explored by reinforcing my theoretical knowledge with the help of frequent visits to construction sites in my country as well as in Middle East.

  • 9. Narrative Progression In Margaret Atwood s Happy Endings Happy Endings is a short story written by Margaret Atwood. The story is different than what readers may be used to because it doesn t follow a traditional plot line. Instead, Margaret s story follows an experimental narrative progression . This type of story progression is a way that an author can manipulate, contort, or obscure the 5 Stages of Plotstructure (Hillard, Point of View in Fiction). In this essay, I will explore how experimental narrativeprogression is used in Happy Endings , how it works in the story, how it relates to the story, and my opinion on experimental narrative progression in Margaret Atwood s Happy Endings . How is experimental narrative progression used in Happy Endings ? This type of story progression is used in this story because the story as a whole doesn t go in order of a traditional plot line. The first story (the original story) serves as the ending for each of the other versions that Margaret provides for the reader. Each of the new versions follow the same characters as in the original story, but they lead different lives. For example, in the original story the two characters fall in love with each other but in the next version of that story the man doesn t love the woman even though she still loves the man. Also, Happy Endings uses experimental narrative progression because there are several beginnings and middles based on the story as a whole. However, there is only one ending which is the original story.

Nostalgi A Portrayal Of The Past Nostalgia: A Portrayal of the Past In the films Castle in the Sky and Princess Mononoke, by director Hayao Miyazaki, there are many references to times that took place before the events that occur in the stories. Certain historical events can be seen to have affected the way in which Miyazaki handles events of the past concerning nostalgia. The way in which he presents technological concepts can represent his feelings towards history and how it should impact the present. These views on nostalgia often contrast with the way in which American animation typically views the events of the past. Castle in the Sky presents the idea of an ancient civilization with a secret power that is only accessible to the heir to Laputa. Hundreds of years have passed since the ancient technology has last been accessed, and only legends of the place called Laputa still remain. Associated with these legends are tales of a great destructive weapon that was once fought over to the extent that it needed to be hidden away. I took a deep breath of sweet air that smelled of fudge, which was accented by manure from one of the most popular things about Mackinac Island horses! It was awesome to be back here after a year. Every year, it is hard to leave Mackinac. Every year, leaving is like breaking a chain that keeps you tied to the island. Every year, I miss the horses and the fudge, the amazing views and skipping rocks in the water. All of these finer qualities of Mackinac Islandand more, makes me not want to leave. Once back home last year, the hours in a day seemed to drag along, but I d look back at the end of the week and think: wow, it s been a week already? A rippling breeze stirred as my family and I coasted into downtown Mackinac Island, which happened to be cloudy. My family loves the Island. My mom and dad love the porch at the Haan s 1830 Inn, I love downtown, as well as a few other special places, and so does my brother (for the ice cream, of course!), and my sister loves pretty much everything! Downtown is one of my favorite parts of the island. So many bustling tourists, so many busy shops, so many strong, hard working horses. I looked around as we coasted through downtown, even though I pretty much knew it by heart. I saw some of my favorite shops and restaurants, like the Chuckwagon, The Pink Pony, the Lilac tree Hotel Spa ( Which has Mackinac IslandВґs bookstore, a toy store called Great Turtle Toys, a shoe store called Birkenstocks, and a fudge shop that also has
  • 31. Energy Consumption Spectrum And Its Impact On The Global... The chapter provides a brief outline on World s energy consumption spectrum and its impact on the global warming issue. An overview of absorption and adsorption technologies for post combustion CO2 capture from coal fired power plants is discussed. The advantages of adsorption over other absorption and subsequently the importance of amine tethered mesoporous silica adsorbents for CO2 capture is discussed. Thereafter, the chapter presents the outline of objectives of the doctoral work followed by organization of the thesis. 1.1. Introduction In the recent years, World s energy consumption has been increasing at a rapid rate due to economic development and population growth. The International Energy Outlook report released in July 2013 (IEO2013) projects that there will be 56% rise in the world energy consumption by 2040 (ref). It has been projected that total world energy use rises from 524 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) in 2010 to 630 quadrillion Btu in 2020 and to 820 quadrillion Btu in 2040, which corresponds to an increase of 16% and 36% respectively (Figure 1.1). It has been predicted that much of the growth in energy consumption may occur in countries that are not included in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) (ref). At present, there prevails huge variation in the economic performance of various countries world wide. For OECD countries, the pace of economic growth varies but is relatively slow when compared to emerging
  • 32. Zaire and Rwanda Essay The refugee massacre that occurred in the years between 1994 and 1996 in Zaire demonstrates a worst case scenario of refugee camp militarization. It is by no means a typical case of refugee warriorism, however, it does exemplify an opportunity structure that fosters an environment conducive for militarization. The massacre of refugees in Zaire stems from the Rwandan genocideof 1994 which witnessed the deaths of 200,000 to 1 million ethnic Tutsi and moderate Hutu.2 The conflict ended in the victory of the ethnic Tutsi Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) and the defeat of the ethnic Hutu Forces ArmГ©es Rwandaises (FAR). Consequently, 1.72 2.1 million Hutu refugees fled the country into Burundi, Zaire, Tanzania, and Uganda.3 Dr. Emizet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They forced refugees back in to Rwanda by gun point and cut off access to food.8 By May 1997, aid workers discovered that the majority of the refugee camps had completely emptied and finally after the AFDL took Kinshasa, it gave the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) sixty days to repatriate any remaining (surviving) Hutu refugees.9 Tanzania and Rwanda Like Zaire, Tanzania was severely affected by huge population influxes stemming from the situation in Rwanda. Prior the major influx in the 1990s from Rwanda and Burundi, Tanzania had an open door policy towards refugees and was a haven for asylum seekers.10 President Julius Nyerere not only encouraged an open door policy, but he also encouraged refugee warrior movements against colonial regimes. He saw refugees as vital sources of labour and also as freedom fighters. However, this changed following the end of Nyerere s reign and refugees were subsequently re categorized from freedom fighters to threats to Tanzania s insecurity. This policy shift partly results from the scope of the crisis (Tanzania was hosting 85% more refugees in 1994 than it was the previous year)11, economic and political restructuring of the government and a revamped security first attitude from the

The final thing I would do is go back and stop almost every natural disaster. The reason I wouldn t stop every single one is because the world would be overpopulated. John goes down into the under living areas where people don t follow the rules up above and have their own way of living. The sewer people consider John to be a blessing in disguise causing them to get riled up and deciding to kill Dr. Raymond Cocteau. Demolition Man shows how citizens conform to uniform expectations and rebel by the sewer people deciding to kill Dr. Raymond Cocteau the leader of the normal world. This is also demonstrated in The Host when Melanie beings to take back her own body and rebels against Wanda. The Sewer people in Demolition Man effect the society up above because they take their food also show them their way of living by wearing whatever they want and doing whatever they want. Lists of suggestions and tips on how to deal with issues such as cultureas well as the laws in target countries have been made available to businesses. The following research articles were reviewed to obtain some knowledge of the factors that need to be considered when expanding a businessinternationally. The issues examined involve culture, foreign laws regulation, political risks, as well as market structure and competition. Based on this literature review, we were able to give profound advice on whether the company should actually consider expanding the business to Europe. Communication and Cultural barriers Communication with individuals from different cultures can be challenging. Therefore, developing proficiency in cross cultural communication skills is essential for businesses looking to expand abroad. He uses many extensive examples to show that the world is getting contaminated . By contamination he means that the mixture of all the innovative values and traditions are damaging and eventually destroying what our ancestors have left us. In his analysis, he describes the gradual transformation of many cultures and different religions to support his points but in his personal opinion he is very open minded and is not greatly influenced by his religion. Thus, people who are attempting to preserve cultures by denying this right to new opportunities are trapping people in ideals they rather change. Once a culture accepts the innovations that come along with globalization it depends on each community to either completely transform their way of living or keep their traditions. As Appiah notes, how people respond to these cultural imports depends on their existing cultural context (Appiah 3) meaning that people interpret the innovations according to their former beliefs and cultures since things might change but their mentality does not. However, in my opinion globalization has more advantages than disadvantages and it is up to each individual to apply those advantages for the best while still following their old traditions. For example, families that are secure and rich usually have the power to control their children in guiding and supporting them throughout their teenage lives. Hence, the younger generations are more open to following their family traditions. However, the families that have issues to support their families by using food stamps or working 3 different jobs usually have less influence and control over their children. Therefore, these children begin to question their families core values and traditions and begin to adapt their own new way of life. Nevertheless, religion is something

These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve (George W. Bush). Bush was referring to Tuesday September 11, 2001. This day is what woke up the sleeping giant that was America and forced America to form into a great country again. Events in the 2000 s such as the signing of Bush Doctrine, creation of homeland security, Google, the successful mapping of genome, Obama becoming the first non white president, Wikipedia was launched, all helped improve our country. Between politics, american values, foreign affairs/conflicts, popular culture, the economy, and technology/ innovation all make this century worth studying. Politics is something that has been around since the start of times and usually is the talk of the town. During the 2000 s there were three presidential elections the first one took place in 2000. The Republican candidate was George W. Bushand the Democratic candidate was Al Gore. This race was extremely close. The final state, Florida, which was the deciding factor, was so close there was a recount. This became so big it went to the supreme court, Bush vs. Gore. But in the end George W. Bush won with only 5 more electoral votes than Al Gore. This marked the fourth election in U.S. history in which the eventual winner failed to win at least a plurality of the popular vote (after the elections of 1824, 1876, and

In a time when religion governed law, homosexuality was not tolerated. The case against Lord Audley, Earl of Castlehaven, represents the treatment of those convicted in engaging in sexual behavior with men. Not only was sodomy frowned upon because it went against Gods laws, but it was also considered a crimeagainst honor. LordAudley s trial shows that a crime of deviance is worse than a crime against another human being in seventeenth century England. The Lord High Steward stated that if there were false accusations made, God will put it into th Hearts of these Noble Lords to find it out but their hearts had been tainted with the fear of sodomy. Homosexuality was not recognized but was attributed to deviant behavior. This deviance was feared so much that those who committed it would be sentenced to death. It is referred to as something so abominable and vile a nature and a Crime not to be named among Christians . In Cynthia Herrup s article The Patriarch at Home: The Trial of the 2nd Earl of Castlehaven for Rape and Sodomy , she updates Bingham s analysis of the trial and brings it into the modern world. She writes that he was convicted of these crimes in defiance of the power delineations of early modern society Herrup supports Bingham s theory that she understood the trial to be primarily about the fear of sodomy rather than the crimes themselves. The fact that he encouraged the raping of his wife and daughter are surpassed as the crime of sodomy comes to light. Whether the crime was punishable by death because it was a crime against God s commands or because of society s fear is questioned in the trial. However, the evidence points to the latter. He allowed his wife to

  • 40. Disadvantages Of Empowered Deliberative Democracy n their research, Fung and Wright (2001) review the reform efforts known as Empowered Deliberative Democracy (abbreviated as EDD). They state that EDD actually promotes the idea of radical democracy and deliberation, thus inviting the citizens to take real action, take part in politics, and to enter into a meaningful dialogue with the governmentto make the decision making process as transparent and efficient as possible. Hence, when reflecting on the advantages of such approach to practicing democracy, the researchers intend to indicate that the EDD model can be also helpful in deepening democracy due to a number reasons (above all due to its ability to connect action to discussion (Fung et al, 2001, p. 7). Moreover, according to the experts, as one of the most progressive organizational reforms, EDD ensures the better understanding of democratic practices and their importance (Fung et al, 2001, p. 7). From this, it follows that applying the principles of EDD is another measure which could help to reinforce democracy in the context of the present day world. Faguet, Fox, and PГ¶schl (2015) also make an attempt to shed some light on the ways that could help to deepen democracy. By and large, they argue that despite the long standing criticism of the decentralization policies, it has a fair chance of enhancing democratic positions by making the political regime more flexible (or supple ) (Faguet et al., 2015, p. 61). Health Promotion Model And Mid Range Theory Essay Theories in the Nursing Field The nursing field comprises different theories that are used to govern nursing practice through offering different perspectives and views of phenomena. A theory can be defined as the development of a link between concepts that create a certain view of a phenomenon (Jackson, n.d.). The theories in the nursing field focus on issues that are relevant to enhancing patient care, overall nursing practice, and nursing education.
