The Theory Of Moral Development
In every aspect of a person s life, we are likely to experience some form of ethical dilemma that
challenges us morally. A popular psychologist known as Lawrence Kohlberg suggests that there
are 3 levels of Moral Development, as well as 6 stages within Moral Development. The 3 levels
include pre conventional morality, conventional morality, and post conventional morality. The 6
stages include obedience and punishment orientation, individualism and exchange, good
interpersonal relationships, maintaining social order, social contract and individual rights, and
universal principles (McLleod, 2011). This paper will discuss all 3 levels of moral development
and where my ethical reasoning rests, past moral dilemmas I have personally experienced,... Show

The second level of moral development is Conventional Morality. This level includes
adolescents and adults. At this level, we start to adopt the standards that are valued by the
authority figures or role models that are in our lives. We begin to reason based on the values and
morals that the group we belong to adopts. The stages within this level include Good
Interpersonal Relationships The individual is behaves in a manner that is perceived as good so
that their peers will see them as good as well, therefore, this stage is all about seeking approval
from peers, and Maintaining Social Order The individual is more aware of the rules set into
place by society, so they begin to behave in a way that is acceptable to society in order to avoid
breaking the law (McLeod, 2011). The third level of moral development is Post Conventional
Morality. At this point in a persons life, the morals, beliefs, and values that we possess are self
chosen. Kohlberg believed that this is where most people end up. There are two additional stages
within the level, which are Social Contract and Individual Rights individual acknowledges that
there are rules in place, but sometimes those rules are not in our best interest, and Universal
Principles individuals possess their own moral guidelines, regardless if they fit the rules in place
by society. The individual at this level is willing to fight for their rights

snow covering it. Seems as though they made it look like Mr. Avery, who is an unpleasant man
who lives down the street. It seems as though Atticus doesn t like that they made it look like Mr.

Macroenvironmental Analysis:
Economic: Globalization of the pharmaceutical industry is an exciting opportunity to have
research and development done at cheaper prices in other countries. However, this could be a
double edged sword for companies because it is easy for other countries, such as India, to produce
generic versions of the drug in bulk.
Technological: Profitability is determined mainly by the ability to discover new drugs. Technology
is at the forefront of the pharmaceutical industry because advances allow for expanded research and
development which in turn allows for companies to create new powerful drug chemistries.

Christian Suppositions
The Great commission is to reach with world with the Gospel. The Christian understands the world
through suppositions; God exists, the truth exists, a man can know and understand truth (Towns
2008, 6). What we often forget is that much of society does not hold these suppositions, at least
they often do not know they hold these suppositions. If we understand the way in which they think
we can more ably show them Christ. Christians are separate from the world, but human none the
less, and as such are called to be compassionate and empathetic witnesses to the individuals around
them. Dare I say, even sympathetic to the plight of humanity. One way in which that is possible is
through secular literature. We can look into the face of personal

Essay On Antoni Gaudi
Antoni GaudГ, a Catalan architect has become internationally recognized as one of the most
prodigious experts in architecture, as well as the one of the top exponents of modernism.
His exceptional ground breaking genius made him the inventor of a unique and personal
architectural language that defies classification. The work of GaudГ is remarkable for its range of
forms, textures, polychromy and for the free, expressive way in which these elements of his art
seem to be composed. The complex geometries of a GaudГ building so coincide with its
architectural structure that the whole, including its surface, gives the appearance of being a natural
object in complete conformity with nature s laws. Such a sense of total unity also informed the life

In 2010, the uncompleted church was consecrated as a basilica by Pope Benedict XVI.
The magnificence of Antoni GaudГ s architecture coincided, as the result of a personal decision by
the architect, with a progressive withdrawal by the man himself. GaudГ, who in his youth had
frequented theatres, concerts and tertulias ( social gatherings), went from being a young dandy with
gourmet tastes to neglecting his personal appearance, eating frugally, and distancing himself from
social life, while simultaneously devoting himself even more fervently to a mystical and religious
sentiment.
GaudГ died on the 10th of June, 1926, after being knocked down by a tram while making his way,
as he did every evening to the Sagrada FamГlia from the Church of Sant Felip Neri. After the
struck, he lost consciousness, and nobody suspected that this disheveled 74 old man who was not
carrying any identity documents, was the famous architect. He was taken to the Santa Cruz
Hospital, where he was later recognized by the priest of the Sagrada FamГlia. Two days later,
GaudГ was buried in that vary church, following a funeral attended by throngs of people; most of

Educating The Learner
Educating a Learner
Bastable asserts that educating others is one of the most essential interventions that a nurse
performs (2014, p.114). Although in an interventional situation, the patient is the learner, it is just
as important that the nurses caring for those patients have current, evidence based knowledge. In
either case, two roles exist; educator and learner. Bastable (2014) adds that there are several aspects
of the learner that must be assessed in order to competently achieve the educational goal.
The Learner In an effort to improve team performance and patient outcomes, management and nurse
educators must provide opportunities for the nurse to learn the most up to date information on safe,
quality care for their patients (American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the educator must determine what knowledge is needed by the learner. Second, the level of
readiness to learn must be assessed. Finally, the style of learning that is best suited for the learner
must be identified (Bastable, 2014). There are certain factors that could prohibit readiness to learn
as well as motivation for this age group. Their occupation as nurses, and the commitment to
education inherent to nursing, however, mitigates some of those

An Argument Against Involuntary Hospitalization
What is a mental illness? Mental illnesses are disturbed thoughts, feelings, and moods that affect
people s daily functioning. Being hospitalized for having a mental illness is categorized as
voluntary or involuntary where voluntary hospitalization is agreeing to be admitted to the hospital
for treatment; while involuntary hospitalization is against a person s will when he or she is
harmful to him or her self or others (NAMI). The issue with involuntary hospitalization is that is it
permissible to admit someone to the hospitalagainst his or her will. For instance, in a suicidecase,
those who agree to involuntary hospitalization would argue that it is a way to uphold the right to
self determination and an action to prevent other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for an action to be right in act utilitarianism, one must maximize the pleasures and pain as
well as happiness of self and others. While in rule utilitarianism, an act is right if and only if it
conforms to a set of rules and everyone would maximize the overall utility.
In the case of a patient who is mentally ill, rule utilitarianism best describe why hospitalizing the
patient against his or her will should be allowed. Before admitting the patient, he or she must meet a
set of criteria that the state created. For California, some criteria include refusal of receiving
treatment when advised by the doctor, ideations of harming self or others and being mentally
incompetent (Involuntary). Through observations from personal clinical experiences, many
patients who were admitted fitted these criteria as some are harm risk, while others were mentally
incompetent.
In addition, everyone would maximize the overall utility as it allows mentally ill patients to get
the treatment they need to live as well as prevent harm to themselves and others as this creates
maximum utility for everyone. If calculated, there would be more pleasures of feeling better and
safe than pain of possible restrains or taking medications. For instance, for a suicidal patient, he or

Illustrating Freedom and Responsibility as an Opposing...
In Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the author frames the notions of freedom and responsibility by
contrasting them within an opposing dichotomy portrayed through the main character, Edna
Pontellier, and through her subconscious denial of Creole responsibility while attaining freedom
for her body, mind, and soul. Within this dichotomy the notions change inversely: the more
freedom that is exercised by Edna because of unknown, and undisclosed, subconscious analysis
deep in her mind, her sense of Creole responsibilities ebb proportionately. As these opposing forces
ebb and flow, Chopin shows freedom in its basic and natural light as being instinctive and as the
normal state of a human being, evidenced by Edna Pontellier s actions flowing... Show more content

But oddly, Chopin does not present this contrast of rebellion as a juxtaposition of the concepts of
responsibility versus irresponsibility; instead, she lets defiance take its place, as seen here when
Leonce perceives Edna s violation of a social norm: This is more than folly, he blurted out. I can t
permit you to stay out here all night. You must come in the house instantly. [Leonce](Kindle
location 584 600). In the paragraph which follows, she turns the tables neatly: With a writhing
motion she settled herself more securely in the hammock. She perceived that her will had blazed
up, stubborn and resistant. She could not at that moment have done other than denied and resisted.
She wondered if her husband had ever spoken to her like that before, and if she had submitted to
his command. Of course she had; she remembered that she had. But she could not realize why or
how she could have yielded, feeling as she did then (Kindle location 588).
Immediately, she says, Leonce, go to bed, ... I mean to stay out here. I don t wish to go in, and I
don t intend to. Don t speak to me like that again; I shall not answer you [Edna] (Kindle location
589). It is here that she anchors her freedom. Her role as an obedient Creole wife has ended. The
totality of her transformation to a

Abolishment Of Slavery In The 1860 s
Slavery in America began during the early 17th century and followed with the abolitionist
movement in the late 1800 s. This movement created a continental divide between southern and
northern states. In the south, there are the Southern Democrats who supported the idea of slavery
and believed that the institution was necessary for the survival of the south. Southern Democrats
also argued that the North turned their back on the real America. While the northern states were
composed of Republicans, such as Abraham Lincoln, whose efforts to exterminate slavery
eventually caused the absorption of anti slavery Whigs and most of the Know Nothing party. In
the years that followed, slavery fueled the fire that started the Civil War. The vast majority of
southern states did not favor the abolishment of slavery in the 1850 s nor 1860 s. On the
contrary, the states divided themselves of the increasing problem of slave versus free territories.
The Compromise of 1820, also known as the Missouri Compromise, admitted Maine to the Union
as a free state in 1820 and Missouri as a slave state in 1821. In addition, the compromise prohibited
the use of slavery in all parts of the Louisiana Purchase north of the... Show more content on

saw the act as a way for the south to extend slavery just as they did with the Fugitive Slave Act.

The Pebble Mine In Alaska
A proposed mine in Alaska may bring jobs, but threaten a way of life The area around Bristol
Bay, Alaska has a possibility to earn a lot of money. They could mine a lot gold and copper. This
would also affect nature. I think it would be a bad idea to start mining there. My reasons why
are listed below. One argument for the Pebble mine is that it would make a lot of new jobs, but
the people in that area don t need any more jobs. They earn their money by fishing wild red
salmon, and in that region they produce half the world s wild red salmon. In 2016 they earned
$153.2 million with red salmon. It would be a huge loss if they couldn t fish anymore just because
of the Pebble mine. The Pebble mine would bring new infrastructure with roads,

Fanny Mendelssohn Research Paper
Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn were
both female composers during a time when female composers were not well supported. Their
musical ventures play a large role in the development of female musicians in history. However,
despite their similarities, Clara and Fanny both experienced different experiences as female
musicians of the nineteenth century.
Clara Schumann Clara was exposed to music at a young age. She was fortunate to have a

Mendelssohn. Both Felix and Fanny received their earliest music education from their mother,
Lea, who taught them piano. However, Fanny continued her music education into her teen years
when she began to study theory and composition. In 1820, Fanny enrolled at the Berlin Sing
Akademie. While studying there, it is believed that she composed about 500 works. In 1829,
Fanny married the painter Wilhelm Hensel. Fanny was exposed to the oppression of females
during this time period. Her father seemed to follow social influences and believed that she
should not be able to publish her works. Felix also followed the same opinion as their father,
discouraging Fanny from publishing. Her music was only ever published under her brothers

Literary Analysis Of Home Burial By Robert Frost
Terri Adams Kimbrell
Logan M. Oliver
ENGL 1312
24 September 2017 Home Burial
Robert Frost s poem Home Burial speaks of the tragedies in a couple s life. The theme of Home
Burial is centered at the death of couple s child. It seems that men did not express their feelings
well during this time. Home Burial demonstrates how one life tragedy can cause another to
tragedy because of emotions that are uncontrollable. The man and woman in this poem has lost
their baby to due to death. The mother is grieving and it seems she doesn t recover from this
loss; parents who lose a child never forget, but most people do find ways to cope and move on in
life. The baby is buried in the family burial site and can be seen from a window in the couple s
home. Every day the mother goes to the window looking at the family plot. Watching the place
where her child s body is buried continues the sadness she feels. But, another emotion is contained
in this wife and mother and that is anger and resentment at her husband. At first, the reason for
her anger seems unknown. The reasoning starts to show when it says she refused him any help,
with the least stiffening of her neck and silence. (lines13 14) Their dialogue is cold. What is it
what? /Just that I see. / You don t, she challenged. /Tell me what it is. (lines18 19). In the
husband s first couple of lines and his last one, his attitude toward his wife seems insensitive.
First he tells her he wants to know why she keeps looking at through the window; then he tells
her she must tell him. Even though he ends the last part with dear , doesn t make it feel any less
of a demand to the wife and at the end of the poem, he ask, Where do you mean to go? First tell
me that. / I ll follow and bring you back by force. I will! (115). In between his words he seems to
attempt to learn how to talk with his wife, and he ask her to help him, but she has resentment in her
way. It seems that the husband is stressed and anxious. The wife, on the other hand, is going
through a hard time emotionally and she needs support and compassion and is not getting these
needs from her husband. Twice during the poem she starts to leave the house, and twice the
husband delays her, by

Sacajawea Research Paper

Sacajawea
Sacajawea is a well known American Indian woman. Her expedition with explorers Lewis and
Clark was extraordinary. She was born in Tendoy, Idaho around 1788. She was a member of the
Lemhi Shoshone tribe. At this time, the American territory ended at the Mississippi River. One
year after the Louisiana Purchase, President Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on an
expedition that left from St. Louis, Missouri, traveling through the US Northwest, to the Pacific
Ocean (History). Children in the Shoshone tribe were valued and seen as important members of
the tribe. The children were educated and thought to become great individuals on day. In 1800,
Sacajawea along with other Shoshone women were kidnapped by the Hidatsa tribe. Sacajawea
and the other women were hauled from the Shoshone tribe in present day Idaho to the Hidatsa
tribe in present day North Dakota. It was when she reached the Hidatsa village when Sacajawea
was sold to a fur trader named Toussaint Charbonneau as a slave. It wasn t until later when
Sacajawea became Charbonneau s second wife. Marriage was sacred to the Shoshone people, so
despite the abuse Sacajawea stayed with Charbonneau. On February 11, 1805 Sacajawea gave birth
to their son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau. When Sacajawea was pregnant with Jean Baptiste, Lewis

Social Reality And Its Effect On Self Image
The idea that humans internalize their cultures social norms to a degree at which these norms
affect their self image is a long debated argument among many social sciences. From psychology
to history, the idea of socialization has sprung a diverse variety of theories, all proclaiming that
their theory is the answer. All of these social theories provoke questions about social reality.
Social reality is a complex evaluation of what is considered biological reality and what is
considered individual cognitive reality. These realities are created by social interaction thus
influencing individual motives and actions, so how can one theory answer it all. Dennis H. Wrong
(1961), an American sociologist and professor of sociologyat New York University, suggests that
much like the question of social reality the answer is complex thus no single theory can correctly
affiliate with all the problems surrounding social reality.
Wrong s (1961) reflection on the one sided answer of social reality is argued in his work
published by the American Sociological Review, titled The Over socialization Conception of Man
in Modern Sociology. Wrong states Sociological theory originates in the asking of general
questions about man and society. The answers lose their meaning if they are elaborated without
reference to the question, as has been the case (Wrong 1961:183) Wrong later supports his claim
by critiquing two of the leading theories on socialization, the Freudian view of man and the
Hobbesian

Cis 324 Computer Ethics
Ethics of Peer to Peer downloading and Sharing Strayer University Abstract In the short time
that computers and internet have existed in the modern era, the world has seen a complete 360

are now using. In the days before CD s, DVD s and the internet, not much was said if a vinyl

for their listening / viewing pleasure, but today with the availability of sending an email with three

This is where the dilemma starts. As time has passed and technologies have become available to
the average people of the world, including those with lesser amounts of disposable money, the
ability to share or loan electronic material has become increasingly popular. The question still
remains in the mind of this author; what is the difference between sharing and audio cassette
with a friend and sharing an MP3 that has been legally copied from disk or downloaded from
Itunes? In the eyes of many people, there is not a difference in these two concepts. In the eyes of
many, the concept of sharing a MP3 is that same as sharing a cassette but has followed the theory
of evolution and grown from the era of physical items, like cassettes, and evolved to the
electronic media market. This sharing concept brings forth another question. Why did music
industry and other various media companies not try to enforce the existing laws when it was
only video and audio cassettes? Could it be that back in the day , the number of cassettes
/ albums being shared were not near the numbers of electronic media being shared today? This
seems to be the probable answer because to share a cassette or album there needs to be some form
of physical contact between the two participants and to share electronic media the two participants

Arbitration Clause, Attorneys clause and Limitation to liability clauses
Arbitration section
An arbitration clause is a section in a contract that requires the parties to decide their differences
over an arbitration process. Though such a clause may or might not agree that arbitration happen
inside a specific authority, it always binds the parties to a type of resolution outside of the courts,
and is therefore considered a kind of forum selection clause.
The federal government in The United States has spoken a rule of support of arbitration clauses,
because they want to reduce the load on court systems to resolve arguments. It is found in the
Federal Arbitration Act, which licenses required and compulsory arbitration for which under the...

the court found that an employee was held to attorney fee clause but the employer was not.
Limitation to liability
It can be an exclusion clause or a term in a contract that pursues to limit the rights of the parties to
the contract. The Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977applies to all contracts, but the Unfair Terms in
Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999, unlike the common law rules, do distinguish among the
contracts in regard to businesses and contracts between business and consumers so that the laws

Waitrose is a clear growth in the United Kingdom, as evidenced by the events in recent years:
In 2000, Waitrose purchased 11 stores from rival Somerfield.
In order for Morrisons to meet competition regulations following its acquisition of Safeway, it
was required to sell 52 of the Safeway stores. The first batch of 19 stores were sold to Waitrose in
2004, and in August 2005, it purchased a further five Safeway stores. This took the firm as far
north as Durham (now closed), fitting with its long term strategy to evolve into a national retailer.
In December 2005, Waitrose also bought another store at Biggin Hill, south east London, from
Morrison s. In July 2006, Waitrose announced it had purchased another six stores from Morrison s
and also a former Safeway regional distribution centre in Aylesford, Kent.

Positive Male Role Model
The Impact Of Positive Male Role Models A Comprehensive Analysis Role models are essential
for the development of an individual; particularly for young males. One of the leading sources of
inspiration and innovation for an individual is typically their father. For this reason, the role of
the father is considered one of the most important ones there is for an individual. There are many
benefits for an individual to have a father figure including having someone to look up to and teach
them about various aspects of life. Furthermore, scholarly research has shown that having a father
figure is critical for individuals because of the impact it has on the ability of an individual to
develop their success in their various endeavors (Ho, 2014). Researchers also note that not having
positive malerole models can have substantial consequences for an individual as well including
delinquency and depression (Markowitz, 2016). There are many areas where having a positive
male role model can make a critical difference in the ¬¬life of an individual; especially in their
ability to succeed. For these reasons, having a positive male role model is considered one of the
most important types of relationship for an individual to have throughout their years of
development. This writing examines the importance of this relationship as well as the various
impacts it may have on the development and success of an individual. The paternal relationship is

The History of Religious Conflicts in America Essay
The History of Religious Conflicts in America
Throughout its history, the United States has characteristically remained a country of two things: a
country of immigrants, and a country of unmatched religious diversity. And yet when compared
with the rest of the world where these two very factors alone have so often engendered horrible
religious wars and decades of enduring conflict the history of religious conflict in the United States
seems almost nonexistent.
That is not to say the United States has been immune to its share of conflict explicitly rooted in
religion. This paper explores the various manifestations of religious conflict throughout the history
of the United States, from the Revolutionary Warto the attacks of ... Show more content on

Due to the distance from England and the room in the colonies, many religions were able to
establish themselves in America, colony by colony. For example, Anglicans, who conformed to the
Church of England, populated Virginia. Massachusetts was home to the Puritans. Pennsylvania was
full of Quakers. Baptists ruled in Rhode Island. And Roman Catholics found a haven in Maryland,
where they could establish themselves amid the other colonists protestant majority. Each of these
colonies maintained a distinct religious character and favored one religious denomination s power.
The American colonists saw the revolution not only as a war for political independence, but to
protect the religious diversity of the thirteen colonies. Put in other terms, it was a war for religious
independence and freedom. To sever ties with Mother England would be to ensure that the various
Christian denominations could co exist on the American continent. The conflict was, in part, a
conflict that pitted the various American religious denominations against the Church of England,
who wanted to impose a uniform, Anglican religion on the colonies.
Early Religious Persecution
The period after the Revolutionary War saw a lot of infighting between the various states and
Christian denominations. Virginia, which was home to the largest portion of Anglicans loyal to the
Church of England, was the scene of notorious acts

T Is Common For People To Doubt The Trinity Of God Because
t is common for people to doubt the Trinity of God because the word Trinity itself does not occur
in the Bible. It is reasonable to think a concept that is so important to the Christian faith would
have a formal definition included as a Bible verse so that it can be learned and memorized. In spite
of the fact that there is not a verse that defines the word Trinity, the Bible does clearly show that

The Old Testament descriptions of God are applied to Jesus by both Matthew (Matt 3:3, Isa. 40:3)
and John (John 12:41, Isa. 6:1). Jesus disciples were convinced He was God because he possessed
the attributes of God: Life (John 1:4), Self existence (John 5:26), Immutability (Heb. 13:8), Truth
(John 14:6), Love (I John 3:1), Holiness Luke 1:35), Eternity (John 1:1), Omnipresence (Matt.
28:20), Omniscience (Matt. 9:4), Omnipotence (Matt. 28:18). Dr. Wallace s textbook also provides
examples in Scripture where a) the works of God are ascribed to Jesus (John 1:3, Col. 1:17), b)
honor and worship due only to God is given to Jesus (John 5:23, Rom. 10:9, Heb. 1:6, Phil. 2:10
11, Rev. 5:12 14, and c) Jesus name is associated with that of God on an equal basis (Matt. 28:19, I
Cor. 1:3, II Cor. 13:14, John 5:23, John 14:1, Col. 3:1, John 5:18). Jesus promised to send a helper
to carry on His work. The promised Helper was the Holy Spirit. From the start He was recognized
as the third divine Person, as one who receives honor due only to God (I Cor. 3:16) and is
associated as an equal to God (Matt. 28:19, II Cor. 13:14). Peter said in Acts 5:3 4 that to lie to the
Holy Spirit is to lie to God. The Holy Spirit also has God s attributes ascribed to Him, such as Life
(Rom. 8:2), Truth (John 16:13), Love (Rom. 15:30), Holiness (Eph. 4:30), Eternity (Heb. 9:14),

The recruiting aspect is definitely made more efficient through product and proven ways of
marketing, but our process will take things a step further. We will need to make sure that after
we have a recruit, again that this is the person that is going to fall in line with what we are
ultimately trying to get accomplished. We will put jobs in individual categories. What I mean
by this statement is that though we are looking for people who are going to be infantry and
cavalry ready, we also are going to have different roles in the structure of the unit. While we have
some people who are much more hands on and like to learn by doing, we also are going to have
people who will not necessarily be as hands on but can do a good job of leading by thinking
through issues. This is going to be the basic structure of the group, and with this two types of
structures, we will be able to categorize any job in a blanket way to fall into these areas. We will
use the recruiting process overall along with testing and background to encourage the recruits to
take their careers in the direction that not only will be in our best interest, but also in theirs as well.
Operations The operations side of the unit will be ultimate responsible for making sure the overall
business side of things are running efficiently and effectively

Walking down the Manhattan streets, it s almost customary to smell the smoke of exhaust from
thousands of cars. The smoke coming from Subway stations underneath the roads can get to
your nostrils quicker than it can be seen. It almost makes you feel like if you are a big giant
walking along houses under your feet that have smoke coming out of their chimneys. At the
same time the smell of hotdogs stands, salted pretzel stands make you aware of their presence as
your smell sensors go crazy, and start telling your brain to get some. You can try your best but
the smell from Italian pizzerias will sure pull you in for a slice or two even if you are not a pizza

Flood Case Study
Other Factors Contributing to the Flood
The Arun and Sunkosi sub catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the intensity of
floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential (Wakode et al., 2013). As the
Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability to transport sediment is dampened, leading
to deposition of sediment and aggradation (Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to
soil erosion and landslides and the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The
construction of the eastern embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river,
making the embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). Furthermore, Chakraborty et al
(2010) noted that avulsion was more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are more deadly than ordinary floods because they intensify the moment the dams and
embankments experience failures and breaches respectively (Singh and Kumar (2013); Singh and
Kumar, 2017). The high discharge of water from rivers can cause extensive damage to life and
property (Singh Kumar, 2017), both of which include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e.
electricity, telephones, and roads) (Singh Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was
rendered uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment
(Chakraborty et al., 2010).
Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by flash floods
yearly. In this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were displaced, many villages were
flooded, and Bihar s infrastructure was compromised (Kale, 2008). While there have been no
reliable estimate of deaths and loss of properties for the flood event, it can be said that more than
30 million people were affected (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an unprecedented human
misery due to increased population density (Kale, 2008).
Short term Solution Set in Motion
Sometime in January 2009, the breach in the eastern embankment was repaired (Sinha et al., 2013).
On the 26th of January 2009, the Kosi River returned to its former stream channel, with the river
being once again confined (Sinha, 2009), as if the flood had never

An Inside Look at Animal Experimentation Essay
Does everyone remember their very first animal? Remember the puppy s sweet and perfect eyes,
the kitten s soft and comforting meow , or perhaps even a hamster and their playful and enthusiastic

With each and every chemical related product produced, experimentation is required before being
released into stores; unfortunately, these tests are typically performed on blameless animals.
However, just because testing of a particular product on an animal results positive, does that
undoubtedly mean the results will be equivalent for humans? For instance, cigarette smoking was

Why, because almost every American citizen is naive enough to believe that each product has
testing done (typically performed on animals) before being sold on the market, ordinarily for safety
purposes. However, what the general public fails to comprehend is that although specific types of
animals are nearly identical to human beings, there is always a cautious chance that the testing has
positive results on animals but conversely, the outcome may be significantly different for humans.
Recently, researchers warned that patients and physicians should remain cautious about
extrapolating the finding of prominent animal research to the care of human disease ... poor
replication of even high quality animal studies should be expected by those who conduct clinical
research (Animal Experiments: Overview). Diseases that are artificially forced upon animals in a
laboratory are under no circumstances identical to those that transpire naturally in human beings.
For example, cigarettes were formerly indicated as safe because it did no harm to animals whereas
cigarettes are typically known in today s generation to cause illnesses such as lung cancer. More
importantly, several researches to cure cancer and its questionable motives have been successfully
completed on mice although the solution has had no effect on the human body. Also, more than

Businesses and Proprietorship
Businesses are started every day, and each one is different in its own special way, but no matter
what type of business it is, a sole proprietorship, a general or limited partnership, a C or S
corporation, or a limited liability it will still be affected in some way by seven basic
characteristics. The characteristics of business; liability, income tax, longevity or continuity,
control, profit retention, location, and convenience or burden. In this paper a description of each
business type and how they are affected by the seven characteristics of business will be given,
showing the clear advantage and disadvantages of each type of business.
Sole proprietorship
A sole proprietorship is a business that has no legal separate existence from its owner.
The characteristics that are the greatest advantages to this type of business are its freedoms. A sole
proprietorship has complete control and decision making power over the business. There are no
corporate tax payments and profits are not shared; however income and losses are taxed on the
individual s personal income tax return.
And this brings me to the disadvantages of owning a sole proprietorship. Liability is the biggest; it
falls solely on the owner of the business. In the event that penalties or debts have to be paid,
payments come from the personal assets of the owner. The burdens that come with maintaining the
business and the standards of it fall on the owner despite the number of employees. The success of

Abstract
In this paper, an artificial food dye will be made to mimic the color of Full Throttle. To
determine what food dye are needed, Full Throttle will be put through a spectrometer to
determine what wavelengths are absorbed. Specific wavelengths absorbed will correspond to
specific colors absorbed. It was determined that yellow 5 and yellow 6 will be used to make our
artificial food dye to mimic Full Throttle. Using Beer s Law, it was determined that a

When making the absorption graphs for the yellow 5 and yellow 6, the lines of best fit were
giving numbers that were extremely small. After help from the TA, it was found that our
concentrations used where twice as small of a concentration compared to what was actually used
for Full Throttle. To correct this the molarity s were multiplied by ВЅ. For example when finding
the x value in our equation y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. To correct this, that
number is multiplied by 0.5 to get the correct value of 3.64*10^ 5. This new number is what was
used in the equation c1v1=c2v2. After the solution was made to mimic Full Throttle it was
discovered that the beverage only had one food dye. The experiment was intended to have a
beverage with two food dyes present. To make up for this, orange PowerAde was used and the
experiment was repeated for orange PowerAde. The solution was made for the orange
PowerAde and its absorption graph was compared to that of the diluted orange PowerAde
solution. Comparing the two graphs, have the same peaks although these peaks are at different
absorption levels. Since the two graphs have the same peaks it is safe to assume that the same
food dyes are present in both solutions. It is important to note that there are two peaks in each
graph despite only seeing one peak. This is because both peaks are located so close to each other
that they merge as one overall peak. When comparing the two

Reason Vs Instinct Research Paper
Which Is Superior : Reason or Instinct? Ideas pull the trigger, but instinct loads the gun. Don
Marquis explains the superiority of reason over instinct. Without reason, many of the things
people choose wouldn t be logical, and can lead to devastating consequences. Generally, reason
can lead to positive, or at least logical decisions. Reason undeniably overrules instinct because of
the logical choices, reliability, and the wider variety of possibilities it can result in. To begin,
reason can definitely be more probable over instinct, especially in life or death situations. For

Mathematics is acknowledged as a hard subject. People who are good at it are considered to
belong to a sort of elite. Usually to be accepted in this elite you have to fulfill some requirements
and most of them are related with a specific gender. Math is a God s gift for boys. This has been
the perception of society for a long time. The majority thinks that the nature of mathematics goes
along mostly with masculine attributes, thus, males are more focused on it. Therefore, according to

The supporters of this perspective follow that the plain reason behind this involvement is that
men are generally better in this field. Moreover, according to a research conducted by

Secondly, there are people who belong to the other extreme that affirm that girls outperform
boys in the science of numbers. Several researches were conducted to evaluate the performance
of both genders based on their grades in high school. The statistical results of a research in Wales
show that 50% of boys and 51% of girls achieved grades A* C in mathematics (Cann 1). The

girls choose not to attend these mathematics related majors. Rather they decide to concentrate in

(Weinstock par. 1). Other advocates of this approach go far beyond explaining that there are more
reasons why girls choose not to devote their selves to mathematics. The participation in this
particular field is affected by numerous factors such as anxiety, self confidence and enjoyment.
Females tend to have negative emotions regarding these factors and math in general. The reason

Essay on Ibm Eclipse Case Study
1. Why was the creation of an independent IBM software group [SWG] strategically important?
Note: this discussion should include some view of hardware as well. The creation of an
independent IBM software group (SWG) was strategically important for the following reasons: a)
A category of software named middleware was emerging in the mid 90s. At this point SWG
abetted IBM to emerge in the middleware market. b) SWG was also strategically important for
IBM to help focus its software activities and prepare for a new age in distributed networked
computing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Very soon java became popular in the software community, which resulted in more and more
companies building their line of products in Java. Though Java quickly gained momentum, it
raised new business and technical issues. On the business side, java weakened the stronghold of
other application development tools, especially Microsoft s Visual Studio. Also, market was
becoming fragmented with the introduction of many similar java development tools, thus
increasing the development costs for the ISVs trying to develop complements for java products.
There were two issues created by Java on the technical side. First, Java provided Swing, its own
graphic environment to provide consistent look and feel across multiple OSs which resulted in
customers losing familiarity with their native OS. Second, Java s Swing implemented their own
set of graphic libraries adding computing overhead, making Java applications slower than those
applications which directly used native operating system s graphic libraries. 4. Is a single platform
a utopia, a nightmare, or something in between? To develop your answer, think of this from the
various points of view [POVs] of different IBM organizations and managers. Single platform across
all IBM tools would be a utopia, but creating the platform by overcoming all the internal opposition
at IBM and convincing the existing product

Captain Jaggery If You Will Realize Your Destiny
Charlotte Doyle If you realize your responsibility you will realize your destiny Unknown
Charlotte Doyle was a fine woman. In the story, she was a girl age of 13. She was a proper girl,
and she did not keep to that style. She turned into a deckhand, a part of the crew. Due to her
manners, Captain Jaggery sought out to call her of unnaturalness. She was accused of killing
Captain Jaggery s secondhand mate, Mr. Hollybrass. She was sentenced and accused of
unnaturalness, meaning her manners throughout the journey have been strange and unpredictable.
Throughout this journey, Charlotte showed signs of not unnaturalness, but she was enthusiastic,
friendly, and positive. During the voyage, Charlotte was very enthusiastic. She was enthusiastic
from the start, of course. She couldn t wait to get back. She was waiting for two families, and she
was excited for the three month adventure waiting ahead. Later in the story, she whips Captain
Jaggery. She felt really bad and want Captain Jaggery to forgive her.... Show more content on

With the two families not with her, it was hard to keep it that way. After a while though, she
realizes that it would be so bad, and that she was making a few friends. Zachariah liked her, and
so did the captain. She kept positive until the mutiny. A little while after the mutiny Charlotte
once again found hope. She would join the crew. She was positive she could make the crew, but
first she had to believe in herself and climb to the top of the main mast. Physically for her it was
hard, but her mentality believed she could. She was positive from start to finish, and ended after
30 minutes of hard work. After she became part of the crew, Captain Jaggery decided to drive them
into a huge storm. Charlotte had to be positive through the storm in order to stay alive. Her own
mind saved her. She once was caught in the mast, and had to get out. Her positivity and her strength
help her out of that situation and many

Aristotle s Virtue Is A Disposition That Issues Correct...
In Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle understands virtue is a disposition that issues correct choice. In
this essay, we are given the task to explain what Aristotle means by choice, which is in turn show
that choice is not wishes, opinion, nor desire. Rather, Aristotle believes choice involves desire. So, I
will explain concisely why correct choice is not a tendency to opine the correct thing to do rather
correct choice is an intimate coordination between our rational and desiring faculties. Thus,
controlling and coordinating what we desire and why we desire something. Ultimately, leading the
agent to what the right thing they should do, full stop, regardless of numerous alternatives. We will
focus on what Aristotlemeans by choice, as presented in the Nicomachean Ethics. First, we will
understand what choice is not to Aristotle. For Aristotle, choice is not a wish because wishes can
be related to impossibilities, such as immortality, which are things that we cannot do. Rather, what
we wish for is the goal or the end that we are trying to achieve and choices are the means that will
get us to the end. Next, Aristotle believes that choice is not equivalent to opinion in the sense of
arriving at a beliefabout what to do. Aristotle says, it cannot be opinion; for opinion is thought to
be related to all kinds of things, no less to eternal things and impossible things than to things in our
own power; and it is distinguished by its falsity or truth, not by its badness or

Racial Disparity In The Criminal Justice System
Instead of not only studying the analysis, evaluating the reasoning, and arguing the grave
statistics of racial disparities of age/ population and race/ethnicity, and incarceration within the
walls of America s criminal justice system, we ought to argue the facts as well as consider the
evidence and approach through ethical and logical appeals in order to understand the beliefs,
values, and perspectives of the problematic issues of the uneven justices and racially bias policies
in relation to the escalating rates of people of color being incarcerated. Racial disparity directly
impacts the incarcerated and also negatively impacts and devastatingly affects society outside the
walls of the criminal justice system. The families of the incarcerated are affected by emotional loss
and possibly financial loss. The communities are subjected to the resulting effects of the costs of a
flourishing incarceration system, and the safety of the welfare of the general public benefits unfairly.
First, I will briefly explain the demographical understanding of the differential age structure of a
population and how criminology also it plays a role in contributing to race and incarceration
disparities across the United States. The relationship between age and criminal involvement is one
of the most well established facts in criminology (Vogel). Criminology is in fact, the scientific study
of nature, extent, management, causes, control, consequences, and prevention of criminal behavior,

Standards And Licensing Regulations For Developing,...
Standard Setting Organizations ( SSOs ) are organizations that are responsible for developing,
coordinating, and commercializing technical standards. These SSOs usually have rules on the
usage and licensing of patented technology within the standard to help guarantee that firms wanting
to implement these standards have access to the technologies required to comply with the standard.
Therefore, usually when a patentholder declares its patents as essential to a SSO and wants to
include it in the standard, the licensing rules of the SSO require the patented technology included
in the standard to be licensed on fair, reasonable, and non discriminatory ( FRAND ) terms. These
patents are commonly known as Standard Essential Patents ( SEPs ).
While a patent holder promises to license the SEPs under FRAND terms, a patent holder might own
some other patents that are important for a given technology but not really essential , these patents
are called non Standard Essential Patents ( Non SEPs ). And, one problem with this is that while
the SSO licensing rules require patent holders to license the essential patents on FRAND terms, in
practice, most patent holders tend to license all of their patents on a given technology without
really distinguishing between what patents are essential and what patents are non essential.
Therefore, the question being explored here is 1) whether the terms of a FRAND commitment are
violated when a patent holder bundles FRAND committed patents along

Food Waste Of Food
In 2012, enough food was discarded at the retail and consumer levels alone to provide 2,000 kcal
per day to 84% of the US adult population (Spiker et al). In comparison to this fact, it is also
estimated that 14.6 percent of US households are labeled food insecure (Bartfield et al). It is
deeply concerning that a large portion of the US population faces hunger on a daily basis while so
much foodis being wasted just at the consumer and retail levels. Furthermore, this wasted food
does not account for the food that never even sees the market due to over production food deemed
unfit for the market, spillage, etc. This means there is even more food wasted that could provide for
the hungry.
Food waste, meaning any food product produced and not consumed, occurs at three main levels:
production, retail, and consumer. Losses in production occur when food is discarded before
arriving at its destination after leaving the farm. Losses in retail occur when food is discarded
before being sold to restaurants or individuals. Finally, consumer losses occur when any food is
discarded after the retail level. Various reasons for discarding food on any level include but are
not limited to spoilage, aesthetics (e.g. bruising, coloring, size, shape), overproduction or over
purchasing, and damaged packaging. It should also be noted that a difficulty arises when
analyzing food loss because of inedible parts of food. For example, meat sold bone in consists of a
total weight when sold to

The Nature Of Work For Your Selected Career
Section 1 Identify your career of choice and discuss the nature of work for your selected career:
My selected major is computer science. As I grew up, I began to develop a love for computers
and that love grew each year, and each year I would use a computer even more than I had the year
preceding that year therefore generating my passion for computer science. Computer scientists have
more than one duty, as they have many. They usually work in a team with other computer
programmers, information technology professionals and mechanical and or electrical engineers.
These teams come up with ways to further computer technology by designing new technology. The
skills required for computer science can be overwhelming but the top two most ... Show more

Computer Scientists usually work on more than one project a day. They cycle through several
projects looking at ways to improve code or write new code to include newer and better features to
these programs. Troubleshooting is a huge part of the computer scientists work day as they don t
always get the results they would hope for on the first run, so they troubleshoot until a certain
problem is fixed or a solution is found within the program.
Section 2 Preparation and qualifications for this career:
Becoming a Computer Scientist is not an easy task, it it were you could expect a lot more
computer scientists out there since a computer science degree is one of the hottest out there
with one of the most job offerings there has to offer for a four year degree. To become a
Computer Scientist you must at least get a bachelor s degree, which takes four years for most
people. To complete an education in computer science you must take courses relating in math,
programming, stats, and introduction courses to various topics within computer science and
general education classes to complete a bachelor s degree. The skills required to be prepared for
computer science are being able to handle a large workload, multitasking, staying focused, and
being able to critically think. You may notice how these skills relate closely to that of a person
who is already a computer scientist, which is because these skills are a

Television As A Place Of Fantasy And Enjoyment For An...
Television dramas in today s day and age has become a place of fantasy and enjoyment for an
audience ranging in different ages. It was created to build upon creative idea s of scriptwriters
and producers; however, the basis of these creative idea s stems from daily life occurrences that
one sees on a regular span. This can include crime, politics, family, or romance, but in reality,
how many of these ideas and scripts are an accurate representation of daily life in terms of those
subjects? Edgar Allan Poe once said that one should, Believe only half of what you see and
nothing that you hear. and this can answer the question set above. This is because realistically,
society should only be believing in half of what they see and nothing that they hear on
television. The shows that are created to air on television are built and directed in order to keep
a person s interest; the accuracy of the information of which is relayed at times are the least of a
scriptwriters concerns as facts are not always as exciting as drama. In contrast, there are
exceptions in these cases and it can be seen within the media portrayed show, Law and Order:
Special Victims Unit (Wolf,1999) as it shows an accurate real life representation of court and
police proceedings that is demonstrated through coerced confessions, role of a forensic psychiatrist
in a criminal affair, and a hung jurysituation.
Within the show Law and Order: SVU in season 17, episode 9 titled Depravity Standard, Lewis
Hodda was a

Papers On Food Insecurity
Imagine driving home from work. The weather hasn t hit the triple digits and you just can t wait
til you get home to sit on your couch and prop up your feet and just relax. You are stopped at a
light and as you are sitting there you notice a thin lady holding up a sign. She has a sad look on
her face and you happen to look at the cardboard strip that she is holding. It says she need money
for foodand that she has children and to please help her. Not wanting the lady see you staring at
you, you look around at all the cars and the drivers in them and notice that not one of them seem

The citizens should also pitch in and help gather food for these people by giving food to food
banks so that they can better give children and adults and seniors the nutrients they need that will
keep them healthy. If everyone pitched in then there won t be such bad food insecurity in our
states and cities and we won t see as many people outside on the corners holding up cardboards
begging for food or money to get food for their children or for themselves. Seniors should not
have to suffer these things either and should go from this world knowing that other people cared
about them because they were elderly and that thinking that the government paid for their care.
No one should go hungry the way these people do. Is it really that hard to give these people
money for food or give food banks a couple of food cans so that they can feed people that need it?
Why do we waste so much food knowing that there are millions of people out there who are
starving and malnourished because they can t afford healthy food and get there are people who
throw away food because they were not given an order that they order. Think about this and
decide the next time you go out to eat or go to the store to buy yourself groceries. Are you willing
to spend a little bit of money to feed a person or many

  • 3. The Theory Of Moral Development In every aspect of a person s life, we are likely to experience some form of ethical dilemma that challenges us morally. A popular psychologist known as Lawrence Kohlberg suggests that there are 3 levels of Moral Development, as well as 6 stages within Moral Development. The 3 levels include pre conventional morality, conventional morality, and post conventional morality. The 6 stages include obedience and punishment orientation, individualism and exchange, good interpersonal relationships, maintaining social order, social contract and individual rights, and universal principles (McLleod, 2011). At this level, we start to adopt the standards that are valued by the authority figures or role models that are in our lives. The stages within this level include Good Interpersonal Relationships The individual is behaves in a manner that is perceived as good so that their peers will see them as good as well, therefore, this stage is all about seeking approval from peers, and Maintaining Social Order The individual is more aware of the rules set into place by society, so they begin to behave in a way that is acceptable to society in order to avoid breaking the law (McLeod, 2011). The third level of moral development is Post Conventional Morality. At this point in a persons life, the morals, beliefs, and values that we possess are self chosen. Kohlberg believed that this is where most people end up. There are two additional stages within the level, which are Social Contract and Individual Rights individual acknowledges that there are rules in place, but sometimes those rules are not in our best interest, and Universal Principles individuals possess their own moral guidelines, regardless if they fit the rules in place by society. The work of GaudГ is remarkable for its range of forms, textures, polychromy and for the free, expressive way in which these elements of his art seem to be composed. Before admitting the patient, he or she must meet a set of criteria that the state created. For California, some criteria include refusal of receiving treatment when advised by the doctor, ideations of harming self or others and being mentally incompetent (Involuntary). Through observations from personal clinical experiences, many patients who were admitted fitted these criteria as some are harm risk, while others were mentally incompetent. In addition, everyone would maximize the overall utility as it allows mentally ill patients to get the treatment they need to live as well as prevent harm to themselves and others as this creates maximum utility for everyone. In Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the author frames the notions of freedom and responsibility by contrasting them within an opposing dichotomy portrayed through the main character, Edna Pontellier, and through her subconscious denial of Creole responsibility while attaining freedom for her body, mind, and soul. Within this dichotomy the notions change inversely: the more freedom that is exercised by Edna because of unknown, and undisclosed, subconscious analysis deep in her mind, her sense of Creole responsibilities ebb proportionately. As these opposing forces ebb and flow, Chopin shows freedom in its basic and natural light as being instinctive and as the normal state of a human being, evidenced by Edna Pontellier s actions flowing... • 11. Abolishment Of Slavery In The 1860 s Slavery in America began during the early 17th century and followed with the abolitionist movement in the late 1800 s. This movement created a continental divide between southern and northern states. In the south, there are the Southern Democrats who supported the idea of slavery and believed that the institution was necessary for the survival of the south. Southern Democrats also argued that the North turned their back on the real America. While the northern states were composed of Republicans, such as Abraham Lincoln, whose efforts to exterminate slavery eventually caused the absorption of anti slavery Whigs and most of the Know Nothing party. In the years that followed, slavery fueled the fire that started the Civil War. The vast majority of southern states did not favor the abolishment of slavery in the 1850 s nor 1860 s. On the contrary, the states divided themselves of the increasing problem of slave versus free territories. The Compromise of 1820, also known as the Missouri Compromise, admitted Maine to the Union as a free state in 1820 and Missouri as a slave state in 1821. • 14. Literary Analysis Of Home Burial By Robert Frost Terri Adams Kimbrell Logan M. Oliver ENGL 1312 24 September 2017 Home Burial Robert Frost s poem Home Burial speaks of the tragedies in a couple s life. The theme of Home Burial is centered at the death of couple s child. It seems that men did not express their feelings well during this time. Home Burial demonstrates how one life tragedy can cause another to tragedy because of emotions that are uncontrollable. The man and woman in this poem has lost their baby to due to death. The mother is grieving and it seems she doesn t recover from this loss; parents who lose a child never forget, but most people do find ways to cope and move on in life. The baby is buried in the family burial site and can be seen from a window in the couple s home. Every day the mother goes to the window looking at the family plot. Watching the place where her child s body is buried continues the sadness she feels. But, another emotion is contained in this wife and mother and that is anger and resentment at her husband. At first, the reason for her anger seems unknown. The reasoning starts to show when it says she refused him any help, with the least stiffening of her neck and silence. (lines13 14) Their dialogue is cold. What is it what? /Just that I see. / You don t, she challenged. /Tell me what it is. (lines18 19). In the husband s first couple of lines and his last one, his attitude toward his wife seems insensitive. First he tells her he wants to know why she keeps looking at through the window; then he tells her she must tell him. Even though he ends the last part with dear , doesn t make it feel any less of a demand to the wife and at the end of the poem, he ask, Where do you mean to go? First tell me that. / I ll follow and bring you back by force. I will! (115). In between his words he seems to attempt to learn how to talk with his wife, and he ask her to help him, but she has resentment in her way. It seems that the husband is stressed and anxious. The wife, on the other hand, is going through a hard time emotionally and she needs support and compassion and is not getting these needs from her husband. One year after the Louisiana Purchase, President Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on an expedition that left from St. Louis, Missouri, traveling through the US Northwest, to the Pacific Ocean (History). Children in the Shoshone tribe were valued and seen as important members of the tribe. The children were educated and thought to become great individuals on day. • 18. Social Reality And Its Effect On Self Image The idea that humans internalize their cultures social norms to a degree at which these norms affect their self image is a long debated argument among many social sciences. From psychology to history, the idea of socialization has sprung a diverse variety of theories, all proclaiming that their theory is the answer. All of these social theories provoke questions about social reality. Social reality is a complex evaluation of what is considered biological reality and what is considered individual cognitive reality. These realities are created by social interaction thus influencing individual motives and actions, so how can one theory answer it all. Dennis H. Wrong (1961), an American sociologist and professor of sociologyat New York University, suggests that much like the question of social reality the answer is complex thus no single theory can correctly affiliate with all the problems surrounding social reality. Wrong s (1961) reflection on the one sided answer of social reality is argued in his work published by the American Sociological Review, titled The Over socialization Conception of Man in Modern Sociology. Wrong states Sociological theory originates in the asking of general questions about man and society. The answers lose their meaning if they are elaborated without reference to the question, as has been the case (Wrong 1961:183) Wrong later supports his claim by critiquing two of the leading theories on socialization, the Freudian view of man and the Hobbesian ... In the eyes of many people, there is not a difference in these two concepts. In the eyes of many, the concept of sharing a MP3 is that same as sharing a cassette but has followed the theory of evolution and grown from the era of physical items, like cassettes, and evolved to the electronic media market. This sharing concept brings forth another question. Why did music industry and other various media companies not try to enforce the existing laws when it was only video and audio cassettes? Could it be that back in the day , the number of cassettes / albums being shared were not near the numbers of electronic media being shared today? Market UK: Waitrose is a clear growth in the United Kingdom, as evidenced by the events in recent years: In 2000, Waitrose purchased 11 stores from rival Somerfield. In order for Morrisons to meet competition regulations following its acquisition of Safeway, it was required to sell 52 of the Safeway stores. The first batch of 19 stores were sold to Waitrose in 2004, and in August 2005, it purchased a further five Safeway stores. This took the firm as far north as Durham (now closed), fitting with its long term strategy to evolve into a national retailer. In December 2005, Waitrose also bought another store at Biggin Hill, south east London, from Morrison s. The History of Religious Conflicts in America Essay The History of Religious Conflicts in America Throughout its history, the United States has characteristically remained a country of two things: a country of immigrants, and a country of unmatched religious diversity. And yet when compared with the rest of the world where these two very factors alone have so often engendered horrible religious wars and decades of enduring conflict the history of religious conflict in the United States seems almost nonexistent. That is not to say the United States has been immune to its share of conflict explicitly rooted in religion. For example, Anglicans, who conformed to the Church of England, populated Virginia. Massachusetts was home to the Puritans. Pennsylvania was full of Quakers. Baptists ruled in Rhode Island. And Roman Catholics found a haven in Maryland, where they could establish themselves amid the other colonists protestant majority. Each of these colonies maintained a distinct religious character and favored one religious denomination s power. The American colonists saw the revolution not only as a war for political independence, but to protect the religious diversity of the thirteen colonies. Put in other terms, it was a war for religious independence and freedom. To sever ties with Mother England would be to ensure that the various Christian denominations could co exist on the American continent. The conflict was, in part, a conflict that pitted the various American religious denominations against the Church of England, who wanted to impose a uniform, Anglican religion on the colonies. Early Religious Persecution The period after the Revolutionary War saw a lot of infighting between the various states and Christian denominations. Dr. Wallace s textbook also provides examples in Scripture where a) the works of God are ascribed to Jesus (John 1:3, Col. 1:17), b) honor and worship due only to God is given to Jesus (John 5:23, Rom. 10:9, Heb. 1:6, Phil. 2:10 11, Rev. 5:12 14, and c) Jesus name is associated with that of God on an equal basis (Matt. 28:19, I Cor. 1:3, II Cor. 13:14, John 5:23, John 14:1, Col. 3:1, John 5:18). Flood Case Study Other Factors Contributing to the Flood The Arun and Sunkosi sub catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the intensity of floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential (Wakode et al., 2013). As the Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability to transport sediment is dampened, leading to deposition of sediment and aggradation (Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil erosion and landslides and the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was rendered uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment (Chakraborty et al., 2010). Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by flash floods yearly. The characteristics that are the greatest advantages to this type of business are its freedoms. A sole proprietorship has complete control and decision making power over the business. There are no corporate tax payments and profits are not shared; however income and losses are taxed on the individual s personal income tax return. And this brings me to the disadvantages of owning a sole proprietorship. Liability is the biggest; it falls solely on the owner of the business. To correct this the molarity s were multiplied by ВЅ. For example when finding the x value in our equation y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. Rather, Aristotle believes choice involves desire. So, I will explain concisely why correct choice is not a tendency to opine the correct thing to do rather correct choice is an intimate coordination between our rational and desiring faculties. Thus, controlling and coordinating what we desire and why we desire something. Ultimately, leading the agent to what the right thing they should do, full stop, regardless of numerous alternatives. We will focus on what Aristotlemeans by choice, as presented in the Nicomachean Ethics. First, we will understand what choice is not to Aristotle. For Aristotle, choice is not a wish because wishes can be related to impossibilities, such as immortality, which are things that we cannot do. Rather, what we wish for is the goal or the end that we are trying to achieve and choices are the means that will get us to the end. Next, Aristotle believes that choice is not equivalent to opinion in the sense of arriving at a beliefabout what to do. Aristotle says, it cannot be opinion; for opinion is thought to be related to all kinds of things, no less to eternal things and impossible things than to things in our own power; and it is distinguished by its falsity or truth, not by its badness or ... • 41. Racial Disparity In The Criminal Justice System Instead of not only studying the analysis, evaluating the reasoning, and arguing the grave statistics of racial disparities of age/ population and race/ethnicity, and incarceration within the walls of America s criminal justice system, we ought to argue the facts as well as consider the evidence and approach through ethical and logical appeals in order to understand the beliefs, values, and perspectives of the problematic issues of the uneven justices and racially bias policies in relation to the escalating rates of people of color being incarcerated. Racial disparity directly impacts the incarcerated and also negatively impacts and devastatingly affects society outside the walls of the criminal justice system. The families of the incarcerated are affected by emotional loss and possibly financial loss. The communities are subjected to the resulting effects of the costs of a flourishing incarceration system, and the safety of the welfare of the general public benefits unfairly. First, I will briefly explain the demographical understanding of the differential age structure of a population and how criminology also it plays a role in contributing to race and incarceration disparities across the United States. The relationship between age and criminal involvement is one of the most well established facts in criminology (Vogel). Criminology is in fact, the scientific study of nature, extent, management, causes, control, consequences, and prevention of criminal behavior, both on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Standards And Licensing Regulations For Developing,... Standard Setting Organizations ( SSOs ) are organizations that are responsible for developing, coordinating, and commercializing technical standards. These SSOs usually have rules on the usage and licensing of patented technology within the standard to help guarantee that firms wanting to implement these standards have access to the technologies required to comply with the standard. Therefore, usually when a patentholder declares its patents as essential to a SSO and wants to include it in the standard, the licensing rules of the SSO require the patented technology included in the standard to be licensed on fair, reasonable, and non discriminatory ( FRAND ) terms. These patents are commonly known as Standard Essential Patents ( SEPs ). While a patent holder promises to license the SEPs under FRAND terms, a patent holder might own some other patents that are important for a given technology but not really essential , these patents are called non Standard Essential Patents ( Non SEPs ). And, one problem with this is that while the SSO licensing rules require patent holders to license the essential patents on FRAND terms, in practice, most patent holders tend to license all of their patents on a given technology without really distinguishing between what patents are essential and what patents are non essential. Therefore, the question being explored here is 1) whether the terms of a FRAND commitment are violated when a patent holder bundles FRAND committed patents along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Food Waste Of Food In 2012, enough food was discarded at the retail and consumer levels alone to provide 2,000 kcal per day to 84% of the US adult population (Spiker et al). In comparison to this fact, it is also estimated that 14.6 percent of US households are labeled food insecure (Bartfield et al). It is deeply concerning that a large portion of the US population faces hunger on a daily basis while so much foodis being wasted just at the consumer and retail levels. Furthermore, this wasted food does not account for the food that never even sees the market due to over production food deemed unfit for the market, spillage, etc. This means there is even more food wasted that could provide for the hungry. Food waste, meaning any food product produced and not consumed, occurs at three main levels: production, retail, and consumer. Losses in production occur when food is discarded before arriving at its destination after leaving the farm. Losses in retail occur when food is discarded before being sold to restaurants or individuals. Finally, consumer losses occur when any food is discarded after the retail level. Various reasons for discarding food on any level include but are not limited to spoilage, aesthetics (e.g. bruising, coloring, size, shape), overproduction or over purchasing, and damaged packaging. It should also be noted that a difficulty arises when analyzing food loss because of inedible parts of food. For example, meat sold bone in consists of a total weight when sold to ... • 46. Television As A Place Of Fantasy And Enjoyment For An... Television dramas in today s day and age has become a place of fantasy and enjoyment for an audience ranging in different ages. It was created to build upon creative idea s of scriptwriters and producers; however, the basis of these creative idea s stems from daily life occurrences that one sees on a regular span. This can include crime, politics, family, or romance, but in reality, how many of these ideas and scripts are an accurate representation of daily life in terms of those subjects? Edgar Allan Poe once said that one should, Believe only half of what you see and nothing that you hear. and this can answer the question set above. This is because realistically, society should only be believing in half of what they see and nothing that they hear on television. The shows that are created to air on television are built and directed in order to keep a person s interest; the accuracy of the information of which is relayed at times are the least of a scriptwriters concerns as facts are not always as exciting as drama. In contrast, there are exceptions in these cases and it can be seen within the media portrayed show, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (Wolf,1999) as it shows an accurate real life representation of court and police proceedings that is demonstrated through coerced confessions, role of a forensic psychiatrist in a criminal affair, and a hung jurysituation. Within the show Law and Order: SVU in season 17, episode 9 titled Depravity Standard, Lewis Hodda was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The citizens should also pitch in and help gather food for these people by giving food to food banks so that they can better give children and adults and seniors the nutrients they need that will keep them healthy. If everyone pitched in then there won t be such bad food insecurity in our states and cities and we won t see as many people outside on the corners holding up cardboards begging for food or money to get food for their children or for themselves. Seniors should not have to suffer these things either and should go from this world knowing that other people cared about them because they were elderly and that thinking that the government paid for their care. No one should go hungry the way these people do. Is it really that hard to give these people money for food or give food banks a couple of food cans so that they can feed people that need it? Why do we waste so much food knowing that there are millions of people out there who are starving and malnourished because they can t afford healthy food and get there are people who throw away food because they were not given an order that they order.
