Essay On Ethics
Writing an essay on the topic of ethics can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a thoughtful and
nuanced exploration of complex ethical principles. The difficulty arises not only from the need to
understand and define ethics but also from the multifaceted nature of ethical considerations.
Ethics encompasses a wide range of subjects, including moral philosophy, personal values,
societal norms, and professional conduct.
Crafting an essay on ethics demands a deep dive into ethical theories such as utilitarianism,
deontology, virtue ethics, and consequentialism. Additionally, one must grapple with real-world
ethical dilemmas and apply these theories to analyze and propose ethical solutions. The task
becomes even more intricate when considering cultural and contextual variations in ethical
perspectives, as what may be considered ethically sound in one culture might be viewed
differently in another.
Furthermore, the writer needs to navigate the evolving landscape of ethical issues in
contemporary society. Topics like artificial intelligence ethics, bioethics, environmental ethics,
and business ethics add layers of complexity, requiring a current understanding of these dynamic
fields.
Creating a cohesive and compelling essay on ethics also necessitates a balance between
theoretical discussions and practical examples. The writer must engage the reader intellectually
while illustrating the relevance of ethical considerations in everyday life.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on ethics is a formidable undertaking that demands not only a
solid grasp of ethical theories but also the ability to apply them to real-world situations. It
requires a keen analytical mind, an understanding of diverse perspectives, and the skill to
articulate complex ideas in a clear and coherent manner.

Vitas Strengths
Superhuman Strength: Vitas is very powerful when he wants to be. His strength
can sometimes be tied to his anger, becoming stronger the more he gives into his
rage. Either way, he makes for a formidable opponent if you re his enemy. Vitas
does not use this power often; instead he prefers to use his own strength to fight.
He only uses this if he s enraged enough, or if it s a drastic measure. Healing factor:
Vitas is able to heal and recover from injuries such as gunshots, gashes, broken
bones, stabbing wounds, burns, and bite wounds. The speed of regeneration is
usually dependent on how severe his injury is. Some injuries cannot be healed with
this power; however, instead he must rest just like a human. Flight: Vitas has the
potential to fly he just has to learn how to. Right now, he is dependent on the
Miracle of Flight, granted by goddesses Palutena and Viridi. There is a downside to
this the Miracle of Flight only lasts 5 minutes. If this time limit is surpassed, Vitas
wings will catch fire, proving fatal to his life.... Show more content on

Angelic Weapons: If hit in a vital spot or injured well enough of one of these, Vitas
can be killed. Magic: Vitas is still a mortal and is, as such, is still vulnerable to the
workings of magic. Black magic has an adverse effect on him, and he s able to be
trapped inside of an pentagram or magic circle which weakens his powers. Power
development: Vitas nephilim powers are still in the development stage. His brother,
Vlad, is much more experienced with these. Therefore, he is not able to do other
things that fully fledged Nephilims can, e.g. healing, empathy, and more. Hunted:
Some Nephilim are viewed as a disgrace and a complete mistake to every normal

Hans Use Of Political And Social Themes
Hans Haacke has been characterized as among some of the most revolutionary and
controversial contemporary and conceptual artists of all time. Haacke s works are
generally simply constructed yet exquisitely permeated with depth and importance
through his integration of social, political, and environmental issues in his pieces that
give them a voice they would otherwise lack. In the following essay, we will seek to
understand just how Hans Haackes use of political and social themes causes his
work to resonate with audiences on the scale it has done. When gazing upon the
vast expanse of art history, it becomes evident that the greatest and most
influentially revolutionary individuals are not those that dabble in the popular and
well studied styles of old. Those who are great flee from average and explore
uncharted new territories. The individuals that choose to really set themselves apart
from the rest of art culture are those who branch out in totally new directions. Those
who delve into new ideas and new ways of expressing themselves through mediums
and styles few have trodden upon. Hans Haacke has cemented himself in history as
one of these influential and revolutionary individuals. His pioneering work of a
conceptual nature was unparalleled and unmatched by his competitors at its
conception. Hans Haacke was born August 12, 1936 in the little town of Cologne,
Germany. Before he started formal education, he was part of an global organization

If, for example, money must be converted to another currency to make a certain

changes in the currency rates of the investment target country, where an international

The world of business has it that it is almost impossible for a unified entity or
corporation to determine or manipulate the exchange rates of a country or between
countries. This is because the factor contributes of currency exchange movements are
numerous and include the forces of demand and supply, oil prices and even politics!
A corporation, however, can strive as hard as it can, to protect itself from the risks
involved in such currency exchange movements. The strategies involved help reduce
risks for the corporation.
When buying or selling foreign currency, a corporation can either do it as and when
it needs to, at the prevailing exchange rate, or try to transact when the currency
exchange rate is at an advantage. A remarkably simple form of currency hedging is
exchanging the currency in parts. If the corporation is uncertain if the

A broken window or microwave does not do a soldier any good. I quote straight from
the Creed of the Noncommissioned Officer, My two basic responsibilities will
always be uppermost in my mind, accomplishment of my mission and the welfare
of my soldiers. I am disgraced to admit that I failed to comply with this line of the
very outline of my role as a noncommissioned officer. I believe that every
noncommissioned officer should do more than recite the words for a board. They
should live by those words. If there is ever any doubt as to what my responsibilities
are as a leader I always refer back to the Creed of the Noncommissioned Officer. I
find there are no better words to describe a good leader than those found within
that creed. The fact that I did not live by those words shames me as a leader.
However, it also strengthens me. It shows me where my faults lie and what I need
to improve upon to ensure I am always doing my very best as a leader. From this
point forward I will learn from my inactions and improve both myself and my
soldiers. I will set the standard for my soldiers and ensure those standards are
enforced. I will instill a sense of discipline in them as well. From now on I will
ensure I conduct regular room inspections to ensure that the discipline, safety, and
health of my soldiers are not in jeopardy. In this essay I have discussed the

Mountain Man Beer
MOUNTAIN MAN BREWING CASE WRITE UP
Problem Statement:
Mountain Man Brewing (MMB) has been successful with only one beer, Mountain
Man Lager, but consumption has decreased. The decrease in sales for this beer has
caused a decrease in profits, since it is their only product. Mountain Man needs to
consider a change in their positioning strategy to increase sales and profits to keep the
business successful.
Alternative #1: Create, promote and sell Mountain Man Lager Light
Pros: It gives them the use of their name that is already well known and liked in their
current market area. It creates a light beer for the younger target market that drinks
light beers. Cons: It could result in customers switching from regular to light, ... Show

They will face a higher production demand if they do increase sales to more areas.
There will be more importance and expense on distribution due to having to make the
sales with businesses in more distant States and with having to provide them with the
product in a timely and dependable manner.
Recommendation:
Mountain Man Brewing should choose alternative #3 to keep the Mountain Man
Lager beer as their only beer and work to grow it into a larger market by moving
into additional States. Doing so keeps them focused on the strength of their unique
and successful beer, rather than trying to move toward something more common to
follow behind competitors. If they were to pursue the light beer, it may increase
revenue, but not likely to be by that much. Even though the consumption of the light
beers has grown significantly in the younger market segment, it is still most likely
that they will usually choose the common, major brands, such as Bud Light and
Miller Light. They could not get into true competition with the major brands, and
would most likely take away sales from their current product due to customers either
switching to the light beer or losing dedication to their unique offer. Even though it
may leave out the younger consumer market, they can still draw interest from those
individuals as they get older and become more likely to trying specialty beers. They
could also look for ways to market

Joseph Smith or Brigham Young s Contributions to the Mormon Movement
Many settlers travelled east, but the most important religious group to travel east
was the Mormons. The Mormon religion was started by a person called Joseph
Smith. A Smith grew up on his farm, angles appeared telling him there was a book
(written upon golden plates) on a hillside near Manchester, New York. Once dug up,
the plates were published in a translated version, which contained statements of his
father and brothers saying they had seen the plates. Smith started to preach his new
religion. He started off with five settlers which then grew to several hundred by the
end of 1830. Smith prayed for more guidance and took ... Show more content on

Smith prayed for more guidance. He was told to allow Mormons to practice
polygamy. The Non Mormons built more hatred in the Mormons. Smith was sent to
jail and was later killed by a mob of Non Mormons.
After the death of the Mormon leader, a new leader called Brigham Youngwas
introduced. Young was convinced that the Mormons would not live in peace
anywhere in the east. He had guidebooks about the Oregon Trail, which contained
the most reserved place in the entire west which was near the Great Salt Lake.
Young was an excellent organiser (he organised the move to Nauvoo), a down to
earth man, and was a determined man. He decided to move west and left Nauvoo in
the spring of 1846. The Mormons prepared for the great journey. As they entered the
South pass, they met a person called Jim Bridger, which warned Young Salt Lake City
is not the place to grow corn, as it gets cold at night. Young simply ignored him. As
soon as the Mormons arrived, they started the creation of there new city. The
Mormons achieved a lot, but did not know what was happening in the world around
them. In 1848, America defeated Mexico in war. A large amount of the Mexican
territory was handed over to the US (which included Deseret, the new name though
by Young for the Mormon city). However, the US refused to recognise Deseret. After
compromising, the territory of Utah was

My Writing Philosophy
To succeed as an elementary school teacher, I need each one of my students to
succeed. When I first decided to become an educator, I had it in my mind that
reading was the backbone of the classroom. However, after this semester, I have
learned writing is every bit as important as reading. Classroom teachers as well as
writing researchers have discovered that even young children communicate through
writing, and that hey begin writing as they re learning to read or even before they can
read. (Tompkins, 2012 p. 4). In order to succeed as a writing teacher, I will need to
identify and define good writing instruction, set student learning goals, choose
effective teaching methods and use effective measures of learning. ... Show more

The ability to diagram a sentence does not make a good writer. There are many
students capable of identifying every part of speech who are barely able to
produce a piece of prose. (College Entrance, 2003 p. 16). Grammar and writing are
not one in the same, and the previous statement tells me that writing instruction
needs improvement in today s classrooms. I firmly believe time is of most
importance when it comes to good writing. It s crucial that appropriate time is
carved out of every day for writing. I think it s important to make writing cross
curricular; this can be very time consuming, but allowing students to see the value of
writing in every subject will be beneficial to their future. During designated writing

When a student can pre write, write, revise, edit and publish their work, they are

The Decline Of Western Culture
Schaeffer Critique
Purpose of Text and Intended Audience The purpose of the book is to discuss the
decline of Western culture by analyzing history from his perspective from Rome to
his present day (the 1970 s). Schaeffer (2005) presents the idea that to redeem
society Christians must live as God desires and completely live by the Bible s
teachings of morals and values. The intended audience would be Christians, because
the entire tone of the book comes from a Christian worldview. Although, non
believers may read the book, they may not glean insights from it like believers.
Thesis and Bias Schaeffer s (2005) thesis was on how we should live now by
understanding our history and culture through philosophical, scientific, and religious
knowledge. Throughout the book Schaeffer (2005) displays bias because the book is
written from a Christian perspective. Therefore, the way history is presented is
skewed due to his Christian intent.
Theoretical Assumptions and Issues One of the first concepts Schaeffer (2005)
explores in the book is the significance of peoples presuppositions of Western
history. Schaeffer (2005) believes that everyone has presuppositions and that they are
gained through our family, peers, and our culture. His issue is that Western
Civilization is declining and tracing history can shed light on why and how we
should live to reverse the effects (Schaeffer, 2005).
Historical and Current Issues and Implications
The book begins in Rome. Schaeffer (2005)
What Was The Primary Cause Of The First Crusades
he subject of the crusades is still a very controversial topic that spans across various
time periods and has religious, social, and political implications. The first crusade
started off as a widespread pilgrimage that ended as a military expedition resulting in
the recapture of Jerusalem in 1099. The crusadesinitiated from a call from help from
Alexius for the protection of Constantinople and the recovery of Anatolia. For
centuries textbooks have repeated with routine regularity, that the immediate cause,
of the Crusades was the Turkish conquest of the Near East, which apparently was a
very real threat to Christendom, that had to be countered by military action. With this
in mind, the primary purpose of this essay is to identify the various reasons that
contributed to the start of the first crusade, while disproving the fact that the first
Crusade was a response to a military threat. In discovering the true cause of the first
crusades it is necessary to examine it from all aspects from the start to the finish.
It all started with Alexius Comnenus the Byzantine emperor, sending letters and an
embassy to the West requesting military aid to combat the Turkish threat in Asia
Minor. Alexius had inherited a weakened empire in 1081 Byzantium was under siege
from all sides, primarily by the Seljuk Turks. Alexius tried everything including
making peaceful negotiations with the Turks that involved giving up pieces of land in
exchange for peace. However, despite his attempts the
The Greatest Horrors Of Wwii
Throughout history, humans have committed many atrocities against one another.
WWII was the birthplace for some of the worst crimes against humanity ever
committed. Often times, we view the United States as a hero in WWII; as a force
that fought on the side of good. However, the United States is not an exception
when it comes to detestable acts in WWII. Aside from Hiroshima and Nagasaki,
one of our worst acts as a superpower came during Japanese war crime investigations
after the war was over. During the trials of Unit 731, a deal was made with Ishii Shiro
that the government is still trying to cover up. First, it is important to review Unit
731 and the U.S cover up so that we may address more detailed issues concerning
this topic. We will then explore the government statements on the issue of medical
and military advances as a result of the deal, and explore evidence that provides a
contrary conclusion.
One of the greatest horrors of WWII, Unit 731, is often overlooked when talking
about WWII atrocities, perhaps because it is not taught in the secondary education
curriculum. Unit 731 was a top secret Japanese medical unit during the cold war that
focused on producing biological and bacteriological weapons during WWII. While
biological and bacteriological are, by many, considered to be inhumane in nature,
Unit 731 went even further by partaking in human experimentation in order to
achieve greater knowledge about these weapons, and to gain knowledge about
anything that might

The Harry Potter Controversy
The wildly popular Harry Potter book series by J. K. Rowling has caused
controversy for many families over the past five years. These novels according to
some critics are harmless, adventurous, children s tales. Others choose to portray
them as stories that inspire children to become involved in the occult and serious
witchcraft. The Harry Potter novels chronicle the life of a young wizard whose

She said that children will come into her store between books and ask her what can
I read that s as good as Harry Potter? (Kennedy Ross). Elementary school principal,
Dennis Edge, spoke about how the books have positively affected the reading as his
school. He said that he would not suggest Harry Potter is single handedly solving our
reading problems but he did note that once students become successful at reading that
encourages them to read more (Kennedy Ross). Potter novels draw in children and
adults with interesting and humorous story lines.
Even children that are too young to read can benefit from having Harry Potter
stories read to them. Reading aloud humorous and exciting stories like Harry
Potter allows for a myriad of shared emotions (Giorgis 82). Interesting books read
aloud leave kids wanting to hear another. Janet Seden, professor of the School of
Health and Social Welfare at Open University concluded that enjoyable fictional
experiences as a child create empathy in the reader and enable us to confront the
need for imagination as parents and practitioners (Seden 296). Some parents are
pleased by the way that Harry Potter has interested their children in reading, but
others find the novels to promote good morals.

In attempt to do so, he uses Sarah s language that he believes she would be more

example of generational conflict. Implied by other clips in the movie, we conclude
the father s environment as an attorney requires him to use a more conservative
language that has been more or less designated to his generation. This contrasts with
the daughters modern and hip hop language that incorporates many slang
terminologies, non standard English sentences and phrases, and a very relaxed
tone. Although we see the father is able to put a couple sentences together,
everything from his tone and range clearly show his inexperience to the speech. An
example to showcase his failure is when he attempts to say an he try da get al up in

and he tried to get all up in that, which is clearly too formal for this speech and loses
the flavor of what makes the language so authentic to the hip hop generation. Peter
and Sarah both speak standard English, but this is another example of how it can
vary. Even though the two are family and from the same class, their generation gap
influences the variation of English they speak.

The Ambiguity Of The Iconic
This essay will explore the ambiguity of the Iconic, what does it stand for in the
modern world of architecture and how does it originate. The obsession of
architecture with this term is slowly taking over; architects strive towards creating
Iconic buildings as a way to gain fame. How does one design an Iconic building and
what does it imply when placed within a particular context? We will explore this
through a particular architectural project of the church of San Giovanni Battistaunder
Florence, an icon which never really succeeded in achieving its purpose and yet
contains some of the very fundamental and curcial ideas about the Iconic which I
want to express in this essay. Why does one building (such as the Eiffel toweror

that used to be the case in many churches including Russian orthodox and Italian
Catholic architecture, where the bell tower always stoodabove the rest of the
structure and the surrounding. Thus bearing symbolic and practical value. In the
church of the highway however, the bells are beneath the weight of architecture,
hidden by the concrete slabs. This furthermore reinforces Michelucci s idea of
creating an icon of speed: architecture that is not meant to become a centre of a
town or unifying element of society, but rather a glimpse of a flash. The bells are no
more needed to spread the sound over long distance, which was the case in a city, and
therefore lose their original significance. Instead the bells transform into a purely

Gilgamesh As An Epic Hero
Gilgamesh is one of literatures first heroes, and there is evidence to suggest that he
was a real historical figure who lived between 2500 and 2700 BC. Gilgamesh is
credited with building an immense wall around the city of Uruk, and gradually over
the centuries, a 3,000 line epic poem was written around 1200 B.C. As the king of
Uruk, Gilgamesh is two thirds god and one third man, exceedingly strong, and a
tyrant towards his people. Gilgamesh uses forced labor to accomplish the building
projects of his kingdom. As a result, his people pray to the gods for relief from
Gilgamesh s harshness. The gods provide Gilgamesh with a Wildman named Enkidu;
matched in strength, they become best friends. Together they have many adventures.

Isolation In Isabel Allende s The House Of The Spirits
For Esteban Trueba in chapter 2 of the House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, after
the death of his fiancee Rosa, he demonstrates his reactions to total isolation from his
family, friends, and the ones he loves most. Ultimately, Esteban s reactions to this
newfound isolation help convey his character which is demonstrated through
symbolism, diction, and inner conflict he faces through all these years. Because
Esteban becomes the leader of the Tres Marias hacienda, he assumes a sensual
nature, but nonetheless an anxious, angry, and tense one as well, as exemplified by
the symbolism and wordplay of Allende. In the first section of the passage, Allende
represents Esteban s mourning of Rosa s death as during The first months, Esteban
Trueba was so busy channeling water, digging wells, removing stones, clearing
pastures, and repairing the chicken coops and stable that the had no time to think
about anything (Allende). By using words such as channeling, removing, clearing,
and repairing, it ultimately depicts meaning towards Esteban s grief against the
death of Rosa. For example, by channeling his anger, removing and clearing what he
had with her, and by trying to repair himself mentally after being so distraught, it
helps demonstrate and foreshadow the fact that he is a very emotional person
throughout the entire book. Overall, by Allende portraying Esteban as a character
that is very hard working and admirable through using these words, her aim is for the

Essay about Banning Books in Schools
School boards and teachers have a responsibility for protecting the minds of their
students and covering age appropriate material. However, does this responsibility
cover the extreme act of banning books from school classrooms? Does not the
teacher have a duty to introduce to their students world issues in order to better the
students ability to cope with problems in the world? How does a schooldecide which
books should be banned from the classroom, and should it be left up to the teacher to
decide what is decided in his/her classroom. By banning books from the classroom,
we prevent our students from learning about controversial topics in a safe

According to the American Library Association, the most common group of people,
challenging a book being read in schools, was the parents of the students. Parents
have a right to be in charge of what is put into the minds of their students, however
just because one parent objects does not mean that the whole school should ban the
book from the list. A solution for this book would be to enforce parental consent
for books to be read in the classroom. If a parent does not want a book to be read in
the classroom, then there should be other options for the student to read. The
school and teacher should not trespass on a parent s rights of raising their child. I
believe that if a parent has a concern, they should go and discuss the problem with
the teacher so that the teacher will be able to defend their reasoning for choosing the
book to be read in the classroom.
If a controversial book will be read in the classroom, it is the teacher s
responsibility to prepare the student for it. The teacher must ensure that the book is
age appropriate for the student, and is appropriate for the subject matter that the
teacher is covering. Reading books such as Catcher in The Rye without discussion
can be more harmful than helpful to a student. The Catcher in The Rye has obscene
language, violence, occult practices, and sexual references (Doyle 2010). This book
should only be read by a mature age group with a

China rather than abroad? Do you think that these strategic initiatives will be
successful? Why or why not? What other ideas do you think LVMH should pursue to
encourage Chinese customers to purchase LVMH products in China?
One of the main reasons why Chinese customers prefer to shop abroad is the fact
that it is seen as a better show off and also the prices tend to be lower due to the
taxes that are applied for luxury products in China. No matter the fact that the sales
of their products in other locations than China bring them important profits in
Europe, LVMH is still trying to redirect the Chinese people to buy their products in
China. One of the measures they took in this aim was to limit the number of leather
products available on the LVMH European market and also limit the working hours
in their stores in certain European locations such as Paris, which is one of the most
wanted and perceived as the most preferred shopping destination.
On the other hand, they are doing all their best to assure premium services in the
Chinese stores, so that no matter the price differences that may interfere, the
customers would still be satisfied with the special treatment and attention they receive
in the stores and also
Effects Of Poverty And Low Self Esteem
A.When facing poverty, some believe poverty itself can create or contribute to the
problem of low self esteem, although this link is by no means universal (Batty and
Flint 2009). Poverty is best described as not having enough money to provide basic
needs such as food, clothing, and shelter. Poverty coupled with low self esteemcan
impair all aspects of a development and can ultimately have lifelong detrimental
consequences. The effects of low self esteem from childhood can continue into
adulthood and the cycle of povertymay be hard to prevail. Self esteem is how you
feel about yourself and your abilities. Self esteem is the key driving factor and can
play a significant role in the contribution to success in life. Poverty is a cause and
affects and often coupled with self esteem issues that start at childhood and continue
into adult life. The vicious cycle with lifelong barriers that can be passed on from one
generation to the next, often make it hard to overcome negative circumstances.

Twelfth Night Comparative Essay
The recurring themes in Shakespeare s comedies are gender identity, social order,
politics, and transformation. The characters in his comedies range from the very
basic, such as Katherine and Petruchio in Taming of the Shrew, to more complex
characters, like Feste in Twelfth Night. The three films, Taming of the Shrew, Much
Ado About Nothingand Twelfth Night are very diverse in the handling of these
themes and the characters of the plays. This diversity of theme and characters is
owed to the films directors, Franco Zeffirelli, Kenneth Branagh, Joss Whedon and
Trevor Nunn. The directors give a different perspective to Shakespeare s actual text
and we, as the audience, see Shakespeare s characters differently because of the film
medium and theses directors vision.

She writes, perspective staging reproduces through illusion and the depth of field
the holding and closing the audience s eye brings the illusion to the audience of
joining the characters on stage (155). Belsey s analysis of this vanishing point
explains Branagh s opening scene in Much Ado About Nothing is a painting that
eventually fades to an actual hillside where the play begins and Beatrice is reading
poetry to the assembled picnickers. We, as the audience, go from being an observer
to being involved in the story. In the Twelfth Night, Nunn employs a different
technique as he switches between scenes of his actors to create parallels in action
and characters. For example, when Malvolio is prattling on in the dungeon saying
he is not mad, and Sebastian in the house wondering if he has gone mad because
Olivia is so taken with him and she is a stranger to him. In this instance, Nunn s
shifting of scenes in the film gives the audience context to Shakespeare s complex
Argumentative Essay On Foster Children
In our nation, there are over 500,000 children in foster care according to ( Foster
Care ); which means there are 500,000 children in our nation growing up without a
secure family. Three of my aunts are foster moms who are fostering to adopt; all 6
of my future cousins have been in foster care for over two years. Four out of the
six children s biological parents have already lost their parental rights and their
children are waiting to finally be adopted. Out of the 500,000 foster kids, how many
children are waiting on the state so they can be adopted, and what can we do to fix
the system and give these kids the loving childhood they deserve? Many states
priority is to reunite the foster kid with their biological parents. Although, this may
The Effectiveness of ASPCA s Commercial Essay
In 2010 the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals) came out with a commercial that would shock the advertisement industry.
The effectiveness of this commercial is proven, simply by watching the reactions of
the commercial s viewers. For those who have never seen the video it has a very sad
and morose tone to it. The commercial begins with showing pictures and videos of
sufferinganimals with the song Angel playing in the background. While this is going
on the narrator of the commercial (Sarah McLachlen) is softly talking about the
suffering and abuse that these unfortunate animals go through. Through many
different rhetorical techniques the viewers are many times brought to tears after
watching this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While those clips are being shown, the song In the Arms of an Angel by Sarah
McLachlan is being played in the background. Slides with different statistics are
being shown as well. The song In the Arms of an Angel is the major aspect of the
commercial that really sets the tone. The tone of the song is depressing and gloomy
but grabs the attention of the audience at the same time. The main point of the
commercial is to convince the audience to be an angel , by saving the abused
animals dying in the shelters. The song used is a perfect tool to convince the
audience to be an angel and help the animals. Even though the music is a large part
of setting the tone, the clips and pictures are equally as moving. Showing pictures
of abused and suffering animals is a great way to get the audience s attention and
cause them to become sympathetic to the animals. Very few people in the world
are unfazed when they see a video or picture of a helpless and suffering dog or cat.
I looked at a lot of the related videos on YouTube and many of them are reaction
videos. The videos show the audience s reaction to the commercial. In more than 99
percent of the videos that I saw the viewer is in tears at the end. If a commercial that
brings the audience to tears is not a perfect example of pathos then I don t know
what is.

The Mayans Research Paper
The Maya civilization was one of the Mesoamerican cultures that were developed
by Maya people. It was highly noted for its hieroglyphic script. This was one of the
best writing systems of the pre Columbian Americas. The Maya community consists
majorly of the indigenous people of Mexico and Central America. The Aztec empire
was flourished between 1345 and 1521 CE and was spreading within the northern
Mesoamerica. The Aztec warriors through their power were able to dominate the
neighboring states, and through that, they made it possible to transfer their ideas as
well as religion to many parts of Mexico. The art and architecture of the Aztec
civilization were the best ranked in the continent and therefore preferable to many
due to the design and techniques that were used by the architects. The Aztec territory
was best documents within the states and consisted majorly of best archaeological
details, native books as well as information from the Spanish conquerors. This study
paper aims to describe the Maya civilization. To begin with, the people of the Maya
kingdom describe themselves regarding the ethnicity of languages such as the quiche
and Yucatec. Initially, the Maya people were divided into various periods. These
periods can reveal the culture and emergence of the cultivation during the Maya
civilization. In the 7000 2000 BCE that was the archaic period. It was the time the
hunters and gathers began to cultivate crops as well as domesticating the animals.

Lab Report On Water Erosion
Erosion is materials such as rock and soil being removed by the force of
weathering such as water, wind, ice etc. Water erosion would be the main focus
throughout this lab. Water Erosion involves rock and soil being removed by any
movements of water. An example would be the Grand Canyon. It began in colorado,
but due to colorado river it continue to grow deeper and cut into Arizona. Water
erosionoccurs into anything involving river banks, streams, seashores, and lastly
seaside cliffs. Throughout the year water erosion particularly happens during spring
time due to water showers and creates a great amount of water to create water erosion.
The occurrence of water erosion is divided into 6 different stages. Sheet erosion is
lost of soil between cultivated and uncultivated environments. Cultivate is essential a
way to prepare land of water overflowing. Than Rill erosion is surface water that
involves to channelside to concentration of water. Comes along Gully erosion which
is an amount of soil getting removed by water. Splash erosion will come next which
is movement of soil being directly affected by splashing. Bank erosion come next
which is essentially wearing away for rivers and valleys.
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impacts of water erosion on soil
due to splashing.
Hyphothesis:
If the height of the water increases than the amount of soil erosion will increase
because the speed of water will create more pressure on the soil causing the
Mature Minded Children
There are many children in this world who act with a mature mind, involving
themselves in any adult situations they come across. They act like they are mature
enough to handle situations that do not require their opinions or thoughts just
because they are too young and inexperienced to comprehend the situation that
they are forcing themselves into. In doing so, they create pain to the adults that
are involved. Timothy Findley s novel, The Wars, Juliet, a character, involves
herself in every situation that only involves adults; consequently, she harms,
threatens and disrespects her friends. Juliet is the character in, The Wars, that has
this kind of disorder . She eavesdrops and uses her observation skills to hear all the
secrets that go on around their house. She feels no remorse with her continuous
use of eavesdropping towards the patients of the D Orsay house. At that young of
an age, she should be looked after more by her parents to ensure she will not harm
anyone else in the future and cause those around her to feel threatened resulting in
others not supporting her. Juliet s natural thoughts is to threaten her friends when
she feels it is necessary. Major Terry, Barbara s ex boyfriend, is a soldier who was
injured and arranged to recover in the D Orsay house. He was a sexual partner for
Barbara until Robert came to the house. Barbara becomes more interested in Robert
and emotionlessly ignores Major Terry. Juliet witnesses the actions Barbara has
committed and decides
The Theory Of Regression Results
DESCRPTION OF REGRESSION RESULTS
In order to empirically examine the extent to which changes in price causes changes
in broiler (chicken) consumption, time series data was collected on 40 observations
extending from 1960 to 1999 on nine explanatory variables in total. I regressed this
data using an Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach. The main explanatory
variable used for my analysis was the consumer price index (CPI) for whole fresh
chicken with the base years denoted as the 1982 to 1984 time period. The
econometric model for my regression analysis is listed below:
Broiler Consumption = a+ОІ_(1 ) (CPI of broilers)+ ОІ_2 (income)+ ОІ_3
(population)+ОІ_(4 ) (CPI for beef)+ОІ_(5 ) (PPI for corn)+ ОІ_(6 ) (NPI for broiler
feed)+ОІ_7 (CPI)+ОІ_8 (AP of Broilers)+ОІ_9 (population)+ОІ_(10 ) (exports of
beef,veal and pork)+ Оµ
Data regarding my dependent variable was originally collected as pounds
consumed per capita. However, I multiplied the per capita broiler consumption
data by 100,000 to obtain broiler consumption in pounds per 100,000 people. In
this way, I was able to obtain a larger coefficient on a few of the variables, which
allowed for a more suitable display and discussion of the results in the paper. Further,
the objective of this analysis was to explain to what extent price of broilers (CPI on
whole fresh chicken) impacts broiler consumption in pounds. Specifically, the
coefficients on the explanatory variables illustrate their respective effects on the
number
In Defense of Free Will
In this paper I will present an argument against free will and then I will defend a
response to that argument. Free will is defined as having the ability to make our
own choices. Some will argue that all of our decisions have already been dictated
by our desires therefore we never actually truly make our own choices. The
purpose of this paper is to defend the argument that we have free will by attacking
the premise that states we have no control over what we desire. I will defeat this
premise by showing how one does have control over his/her desires through the
idea of self control. I will then defend my argument against likely rebuttals that
state that there is still no way to control our desires proving that we do have free
will. 1. The Argument Against Free Will The argument against free will states
that; what you do is always determined by what you have the strongest desire to do,
but you have no control over what you desire. If what you do is always determined
by something that you have no control over then you can never actually act freely.
It follows from what has been said that one does not have free will. The first
statement seems to not make a whole lot of sense right off the bat. You would think
that if someone wants to do something but does not do it then they are not choosing
their greatest desire. How does your brain tell you what you want? Do you have any
control over what your brain says you want? According to what this argument states

Sarin Attack In Japan
On March 20th 1995, in Japan s capital of Tokyo was fell victim to a chemical
agent attack by the terrorist group Aum Shinriko. The group, which at its high water
mark, numbered an estimated 50,000 members after the attack, was found to have
been able to produce enough sarin to kill more than four million people. (Wright
2008) Members of this group, faithfully followed the orders of their leader Shoko
Asahara and launched the chemical attacks against civilians in the Tokyo subway
system. Twelve people were killed by the gas, and thousands were injured, and
experts have suggested that if the five men who carried out the attack had better
understood how to distribute Sarin properly, thousands could have died (Crime
Museum, n.d.). This nerve
Gmo Vs Organic Foods
This paper begins by providing key information and terms to provide a basic
understanding of concepts between organic foods and genetically engineered foods,
often known as genetically modified organisms (GMO). Any organism or
microorganism which is genetically engineered is referred to as a GMO. In today s
modern world, scientists are most commonly using this technology in agricultureto
pinpoint genes, isolate them, and then manipulating these genes to create crops with
predetermined traits. This type of engineering, in plant based foods, stems from a
desire to create foods which do not occur organically in nature. The term organic
foods , directly describes foods in which no artificial or genetically modified
processes are used during the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, we will give a rough overview of how plant based GMO products are produced.
Secondly, we will discuss how organic plant based foods are produced. The basic
production of a genetically engineered seed is broken down as follows: the desired
gene in the seed is selected and copied (or removed), a certain species of plant is
selected for injection, the method of transference into the selected species is chosen,
finally the specific gene is inserted into a specific portion of the DNA. After this
process of genetic rearrangement, a seed containing the new genetic material (or
lack thereof), is produced. These seeds are then sold to farmers to be planted and
grown. During the growth of these plants, heavy pesticides use, enhanced soil, and
engineered fertilizers are often used to optimize growth and ensure plant maturity.
The process in which natural, organic foods are produced differs from genetically
engineered foods because it is a process which has not changed (much) over
hundreds of years. The seeds used in organic foods are generally seeds in which
nature has passed down through natural processes e.g., a natural life cycle of a
plant. A natural life cycle of a plant would look like this: a seed is planted, the plant
grows, the plant matures, the plant produces seeds, the process repeats. The
differences in the growing process of organic
Compare And Contrast Marriage And Getting Married
Getting Married vs cohabitating
Cohabitation is an arrangement where two people who are not married live
together. Such arrangements have become increasingly common in Western
countries during the past few decades, being led by changing social views,
especially regarding marriage, gender role and religion. Where as getting married is
also called wedlock, is a socially recognize union between Sprouse that establishes
right and obligation between those spouses, as well as between them and any
resulting biological children.
Reason of marriage. Legal social status emotional financial spiritual partner
selection Nowadays, there are different opinion in the society regarding getting
married or cohabitating when a person is fed up living a single life. One might
prefer getting married and be a noble husband and father whereas another people
want to live together without any attachment other than sharing the same properties.
Getting married is a commitment to live each other and share everything of life
together. It is a legally and socially more acceptable relationship. Whereas
cohabitating is living together involve in a sexual relation without getting married.
People who are more committed to their career and want to do trial if relationship

emotional, psychological factors differs a lot.

U.s. National Security Agency
Imagine a world where you are being watched by the government all the time. This
sounds similar to the classical dystopian novel 1984, where Big Brother invades the
private lives of its citizens including, the protagonist, Winston. Even though our
society is not as invasive we have our own big brother, the NSA. Although it protects
U.S. national security, the government should discontinue the surveillance done by
the NSA because it is detrimental the U.S. economy the Constitution and the citizens
of the U.S.
The National Security Agency, NSA, is an intelligence organization of the United
States government, responsible for global monitoring, collection and processing of
information and data for foreign intelligence and counterintelligence. In 2013,
whistleblower Edward Snowden leaked documents revealing the lengths of the
National Security Agency s surveillance on the United States citizens. This caused
mass debate of privacy vs. security over the agency s surveillance. Some major
arguments for and against the NSA surveillance have involved the sections of the
Constitution. These include : The Fourth Amendment which states The right of the
people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against
unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall

Media Campaign for World Suicide Prevention Day 2012
Media campaign for World Suicide Prevention Day 2012
Organization Profile The organization asking for assistance with its campaign is a
small mental health nonprofit in Singapore. The company operates facilities that
provide services to the mentally ill such as counseling, hospital alternative programs,
case management, housing assistance, and community outreach. The community
outreach branch has been participating in the World Suicide Prevention Day
campaigns since they were first organized, but there has been very little participation
by the community, or even similar agencies, in this effort. The company has a
particular stake in this effort as the mentally ill population in the region is almost
three times more likely to commit suicide than an individual who does not claim
mental health problems (SingHealth, 2012).
Relevant Issues Singapore has its own committee that conducts a local suicide
prevention day in March of select years (SingHealth, 2012), so assistance from the
county is unlikely other than verbal support. The company does not have a large
budget to support the effort and will have to conduct a fund raising drive prior to
beginning the campaign to endure that enough funds can be dedicated to the effort. It
is possible though that the country will provide some money via a grant. The day
itself has not been well publicized in the media in the years preceding this one. This
presents an issue in that people do not want to think about the problem and are
Police Body Cameras Should Reduce Police Misconduct
The idea of using the hook and eye method to achieve coherence and connect
thoughts between sentences and paragraphs makes perfect sense. However, I had
never put much thought into the method used to accomplish this. As I poured
through articles, looking at the different types of research methods used, I could not
help but notice the hook and eye connections. I also wondered if they the author was
familiar with the hook and eye concept, or if this is a common, natural way of
writing. I also know that I need more time using and identifying the main connections
(phrases or words).
I selected an article about police body cameras. The article cited several studies, as
well as the authors ideas and thoughts. The article, titled Police Body Cameras, is
part of the CATO Institute s National Police Misconduct Reporting Project, and
prepared by Matthew Feeney in 2015. The theme throughout the article is that the use
of body cameras will reduce police misconduct. Although we all hope this is the case,
we must also look at the other issues involved with the wearing of body cameras. In
an effort to gain citizen buy in and obtain their opinions, they conducted surveys.
Interestingly enough, most people did not want the officers to record them, unless it
was during an enforcement encounter, such as a traffic stop or arrest situation.
In looking at the effects body camera had in relation to police behavior, they cited a
study from Rialto, California. They conducted the study over a

Although the firm has been working on maximum efficiency, Tom Mathis has come
up with a better solution to solve the problem. He plans to cut costs by purchasing
supplies from overseas sellers. Mr. Mathis knew that this strategy would have
increased the cost and time of delivery. The factory buyers should also take the time
to investigate any potential new vendors. So he is using information technology to
implement the program and to improve the process of inventory restocking.
(Larenernest, 2010) However, workers have been so accustomed to the Kanban
system that it is difficult for them to change the system, so there is a high resistance
to change among the business. In addition, it is well known that Microsoft managed
to reduce inventory levels and increase production rates without significant
investment in information technology. They settled with the traditional method of
trying to adopt new methods and many operating firms were deliberately separated
from the technology because the first thing the experts tell Kanban factory to do is to
disconnect the Material Requirements Planning System (MRP). MRP is a system
used to manage manufacturing processes in terms of production planning,
scheduling, and inventory control. This causes another problem for Mr. Mathis since
the firm does not have the internal resources needed to support the system that he
wants to employ. (Carr, 2005)

After the Black Death swept through Europe, killing off a third of its population by
the end of the fourteenth century, people were ready for a change. Very slowly new
ideas and beliefs concerning the purpose of life began to spread from Florence Italy.

(Grendler, 2006)A very important humanist from the Renaissance is Leonardo Da
Vinci.
Leonardo Da Vinci was the son of a 25 year old notary named Ser Piero and a
peasant girl named Caterina. He was born just outside of Florence France in 1452.
As Da Vinci grew up he became an apprentice for the famous Andrea Del Verrochio.
After abandoning the first apprenticship in Florence, he learned many new forms of
painting and sculpting by the Duke of Milan. Leonoardo Da Vinci is best known for
his beautiful paintings including the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. He was not
only an Italian painter, but he also was a sculptor, inventor, architect, and
mathematician among other things. DaVinci also designed the calculator and the
helicopter.
The Last Supper was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci in 1495. The Last Supper
shows the itelligence and artistic side of him. The painting is simple in style
compared to the other painting of this era. Da Vinci s mural painting, The Last
Supper, was painted in Milan. (Art E. o.) The painting is now hung in the dining
hall at Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. The painting shows the dramatic
movement and depiction of light and shade. The painting was painted on a dry wall
rather then on wet plaster. Leonardo sealed the stone with a layer of pitch, gesso, and
mastic. He then painted over it with tempera paint. (Art E. o.)As a result of painting

The Treaty Of The Versailles Treaty
What responsibility did each of the Big Three have for the failure of the Versailles
Treaty to bring peace to Europe? Be sure to discuss what each wanted to
accomplish. The treaty of the Versailles was an agreement between France,
England and the United states. Its intentions were to prevent a second world war
however, it was a total fail. An obvious reason for not being effective could be
because not everyone was included in the conference such as Russia, and Central
Powers. Instead, Prime minister George Clemenceau had thought he would speak
for all of europe and wanted to be the strongest of europe. Clemenceau seeked
revenge towards Germany, in fact he desired most dismantle the best of Germany s
military and their nationalist pride. As for the United States, Wilson implemented the
fourteen points which focused on self determination of people. Only few of his
points were included in the treaty but these points had been the reason for conflicts
happening in europe. Participation from everyone is important and not allowing
everyone s input could lead to negative outcomes such as, The league of nations
which most likely failed because the United States wasn t allowed to participate.
Why was the territory of the Ottoman Empire divided into mandates while the
territory of the Austro Hungarian Empire was divided into Nation states? Mandates
had only applied in the Middle East and were the cause to several conflicts. The

Grabbing my gym bag from the trunk, I march under the covered patio for the door
of Mountainside Fitness to start my daily ritual. Walking through the doors the
smell of sweat, hard work and cheap coffee attacks my senses. Lifting weights has
been my place of refuge for almost two years now. Albeit I have gotten into pretty
decent shape, I have an ulterior motive that goes deeper than just getting bigger,
faster, and stronger. While the charming blond girl at the front desk scans my key
card, I take a quick scan of the gym and see the customary faces of pain, strain, and
disdain on those already in their workout. What motivation is powering these gym
goers to finish their workout when it is so easy to quit? For me, going to the gym
is a remarkable way to improve physical health, but the stress relief from being
completely absorbed in a workout, the hormones released after a workout, and
accomplished state of mind after a completed workout makes the mental benefits
just as significant. Walking out of the locker room after changing in to my purple
cut off t shirt and black basketball shorts starts my personal time. My phone is
turned on silent for no disruptions and my earbuds go in. Faces that were expressing
so much discomfort two minutes ago have now become mosaicked blurs. There are
no distractions as I walk to

No matter how many years you have kept them, they WILL sting you! Bees, like
many other insects and even animals are quite protective of their territories and their
honey. So you will most definitely need protective gear even if you are a seasoned
beekeeper. A beekeeper hat is therefore one of the most important part of that gear.
The moment you think of protection against the stings, the hat should be your first
thought. A beekeeper hat is a specially designed hat that ensures you are kept safe of
the fierce attacks from bees every time you are in contact with the hive. It is ... Show

Plastic hats for instance are quite effective in terms of the clarity whilst looking
through them but at the same time they can make you feel stuffed up in there
because of the ventilation system. The best types are the ones attached together
with a veil that is at least shoulder long. The mesh should be tight enough to not
allow the bees to slip through the holes. The beekeeper hat as is with other
protective clothing should be white in color. Bees don t consider the white color as
a threat. However, just show up in a dark colored suit or protective clothing and you
are in for a tempest like no other (bee style). For some reason, they do not like the
color white and will get distracted and not see you as an enemy perhaps up until you
start to grab the honey
Examples Of Figurative Language In Catcher In The Rye
What is the author s style? In this case, Salinger s style is based on the many topics
of literature, including the three basic elements, which are diction, syntax and
figurative language. The Catcher In The Rye is a very eye catching book that talks
about a young man named Holden, who got expelled from his school, Pencey Prep.
Salinger speaks through the eyes of Holden Caulfield. His styleis portrayed by
showing the distinctive way he uses language compared to other authors.
In this novel, Salinger shows the diction mainly during the dialogues between the
characters. The diction of The Catcher In The Rye is informal due to the different
types of colloquial used throughout the story. An example of this colloquial diction
in the book was when Stradlater told Holden to hurry up in this way, Why don
tcha? I will, in minute time. (Stradlater, p.32) We can see that Stradlater uses a type
of slang language as in don tcha. This shows the diction of the story and how it
gives us a feel for what Salinger was trying to do to catch the reader s attention.
This novel also shows us many examples of imagery and symbolism. Imagery gives
us a picture of what is happening in that scene of the story. Imagery gives the reader
a realistic look of it. Symbolism just shows an object or something in that book that
represents something special to one of the characters or even the author. These both
can affect the author s style by setting the mood of the story. In this novel, there was

Psychology At The University Of Southern Mississippi
While studying psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi, I developed
an interest in youth psychological health and social well being. As an avid learner, I
subsequently became interested in clinical child research and joined Dr. Christopher
T. Barry s Youth Personality and Behavior (YPB) laboratory as a volunteer research
assistant during my sophomore year of college. After learning the dynamics of
working in a research laboratory, and taking courses such as adolescent, social,
developmental, and personality psychology, my interest in interpersonal relationships,
personality, and mental health solidified. From then on, I sought to expand my
experiences in undergraduate research. For example, I participated in my first
independent research experience at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
through the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP). I conducted research
in the clinical/community division of the psychology department, and my research
focused on how juvenile delinquency, ADHD, and perceptions of youth s control in
choosing their own mental health service impacted the magnitude of caregiver(s)
strain. From my SROP experience, I learned a wealth of information about tabulating
data, from coding variables to running statistical analyses in the Statistical Package
for Social Sciences (SPSS). SROP was a wonderful experience, and it catalyzed my
progress as an undergraduate researcher.
Shortly after my SROP experience, I began simultaneously
American Girl Doll Research Paper
In life, human beings are required to learn and retain a lot of various information.
Many people attend school at four or five years old, and this is when the learning
begins. English, History, Math, and Science. These are the four core subjects in
most educational systems. Each subject comes with information that people must
retain and use throughout their lives. However, sometimes these subjects can be a
bit dull, especially for children. The original American Girl Dolls assist with
making history fun and exciting, thanks to Pleasant Rowland. Some adults may
remember American Girl Dolls. They are the very expensive dolls that every little

almost seems like these dolls are vital to their existence. I remember getting my first

recursos. La palabra decisiГіn deriva del tГ©rmino decido que significa cortar;

determinado hecho (GonzГЎlez, 2001).

The Korean K Pop Group
Everyone has seen a music video at least once in their life, whether young or old, or
on MTV or YouTube. Music videos require a combination of a beautiful song and
visually pleasing graphics that uses pathos and ethos in order to capture the attention
of the audience. The Korean K pop group BTS utilizes pathos and ethosin their music

BTS, is a seven member K pop group formed under Big Hit Entertainment in 2013.
I Need U is the title track of the first album in the three part album series titled The
Most Beautiful Moment in Life. The song was created by BTS members in order
to convey the message that youth is the most stressful period of one s life,
although by overcoming difficult obstacles it is also the best time of life. BTS
music video for the song I Need U makes use of ethos and pathos in such a way that
provides viewers with a new perspective on youth.
BTS audience consists of teenagers and young adults whom of which enjoy
listening to hip hop and Korean music. Many of the Korean group s songs address
issues the average youth faces, including their debut song, called No More Dream ,
which depicts the members struggling to discover their purpose in life. They speak

Weber s Theory Of Authority
The purpose of this essay is to analyse Weber s theory of authority and power in
order to establish its role in the modern contemporary world today. Weber, in his most
acclaimed writings, discusses his three ideal types of authority being outlined as
traditional, charismatic and rational legal authority. He believes that in order for any
political leader or political establishment to hold legitimate authorityover its peoples,
they must have either one of these types of authority. All of these types of power
and authority can be referred to in some way in today s contemporary world using
examples of differing political leaders and systems. However, Weber s writings
were conducted in 1922 and may be considered as out dated, and not as relevant as
they were at his time of writing. Also, many dispute that Weber s types of authority
were perhaps not entirely relatable and Martin Spencer, like many other critics of
Weber s work in fact argue that there should have been four types of authority.
Hence why these issues must be discussed in order to conclude whether Weber s
ideal types of authority are representative of political leaders and governments, and
whether or not they can be associated with the contemporary world we live in today.
Max Weber introduced his three types of authority in an essay which was first
published in 1922 in German, and was later published in 1958 in English. Weber
believes that many systems can consider themselves as holding legitimate authority,

Should Trophys Be Allowed In Kids Sports
Is giving kids participation trophies beneficial to children, or motivation killers?
Many people all around the U.S. have their opinions for both sides of the
discussion. James Harrison, linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has weighed in
on this topic. In many people s eyes, his beliefs make a lot of sense, they
understand where he s coming from and what he is speaking about. Carol Dweck
also made a statement to NPR about her belief s on the topic. There are millions of
important facts that need to be talked about with this epidemic: an estimated fifty
seven percent said only winners should receive a trophy for participationin kids

of praise, and this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These kids are a cancer to teams. Everyone knows that there are always kids with
bad attitudes that do not care; therefore, kids that act like this do not deserve to
have a participation trophy. They do not care about the team and some of them are
very impertinent. There are even some people that are there because their parents
force them to play. There parents may have been really good athletes, but their kids
are not always the best. Those kids are not respectful to the team, so why should they
get a trophy for that?
Finally, kids that are given participation trophies are given the wrong idea. Fifty
seven percent of people said only winners deserve to have participation trophies,
giving out participation trophies is tantamount to giving kids the wrong praise, and
giving kids with bad attitudes and not a care in the world is not a good idea. These
kids need to realize that they need
to earn things that are given to them. James Harrison had every right to take those
trophies away from his kids. He is making those kids want to work harder and strive
to earn a real trophy one day. Maybe one day they will end up like him and win a
super bowl. That is when they are able to be given a trophy. When kids try their
hardest and earn these trophies, that is when they should be
Adaptive Perfectionism Hypothesis
Re read the introductory paragraph. Did the researchers provide a succinct
overview of a) the general topic and why it is important, b) what is known, c) what
is missing and d) what they did? o A) Yes; educators agree that procrastination is
the root of several academic problems that lead students to miss deadlines, withdraw
from courses, and receive low course grades. For this reason, it is crucial to
investigate the underlying factors associated with procrastination in order to find
ways to reduce or prevent this maladaptive behavior from occurring. o B) Yes; there
was an entire section relating to prior research on background studies giving the basis
for the proposed hypotheses. Given the literature, we know that various explanations

Self determined Motivation Hypothesis: Researchers have operationalized self
determined motivation using the Academic Motivations Scale (AMS; Vallerand et
al., 1992) which consists of three subscales (intrinsic, extrinsic, and amotivation) and
note that students with stronger intrinsic motivation and self regulation report lower
procrastination, deeper engagement, and higher persistence at learning activities
(Vansteenkiste, Lens, Deci, 2006).
The hypothesis stating that personal standards will mediate the relationship
between self determined motivation and academic procrastination as well as self
determined motivation and academic performance (GPA) is not directly supported by
the literature. The researchers based this hypothesis on the logic that perfectionism is
the most well established predictor of procrastination and is an enduring personal
attribute, therefore it should mediate the relationship. So while they are not directly

Witchcraft In The 13th Century
In the 9th century, the Canon Episcopi stated, bishops and their officials must labor
with all their strength to uproot thoroughly from their parishes the pernicious art of
sorcery and malefice...if they find a man or women follower of this wickedness to
eject them foully disgraced from their parishes (Levack, The Witchcraft Sourcebook,
2015, p. 36). Known for its leniency, the Canon Episcopi is in stark contrast to that of
later writings and practices relating to the punishments of convicted witches. Once an
offense mandating banishment, witchcraft began escalating into an offense liable to
execution by burning (Levack, The Witchcraft Sourcebook, 2015, p. 35). Brought on
by changes in government, witch hunting and the trials that followed would soon
take a gruesome turn. Thus, the prosecution of witchcraft was best suited in a court
of law exercising established criminal procedures as opposed to employing
procedures regarding crimen exceptum, or expected crimes.... Show more content on

Prior to the thirteenth century, Europe operated on Accusatorial procedures
regarding witchcraft. This often lead to social harmony or hierarchy determining
the outcome of a trial as opposed to the idea of right and wrong (Barnes, 2017).
Recognizing the irrational and unreliable nature of these trials, in addition to the
erroneous use of ordeals, the Church disavowed these procedures at the Fourth
Lateran Council in 1215. Being that ordeals required the blessing of clerics in order
to be conducted, the action taken by the Council effectively ended its use in witch
trials (Levack, The witch hunt in early modern Europe, 2016, p.
Bring Your Own Device ( Byod )
BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE (BYOD)
As technology advances and portable devices such as laptops, tablets and
smartphones being developed, the bring your own device trend has been born.
BYOD refers to a movement that has encouraged companies to allow their
employees to bring their personal devices at work and be able to use them to access
the company network. These portable devices not only make work easier, but they
are also convenient as they allow employees to work from anywhere and not just
their company offices. Although there are benefits to this trend, with it come
disadvantages that are causing concerns and making some companies wonder if
allowing this policy is a good idea.
BYOD became mainstream in the late 2000s, these were the years ... Show more

But the fact that employees are not solely restricted to using company provided
devices to access data like critical company assets, can prove to be a problem. This
is where BYOD seems unpleasant to some companies because of the major risks
associated with it, as the devices might be stolen and important company information
might end up in the wrong hands. According to the Mobile Consumerization Trends
and Perceptions Survey in 2012, depending on location and situation, some
companies that permit BYOD have experienced data and security breach which has
led to them taking some precaution measures and some completely forbid the use of it.
Hidden costs associated with supporting BYOD has proven to be an issue, reports
show that although most companies state that costs have reduced significantly due to
this trend, there are some that claim otherwise. Organizations that simply say BYOD
is about productivity and have completely ignored the cost structure are playing with
a blank check, says Aberdeen analyst Hyoun Park. In the same article the author
claims that, a typical mobile BYOD environment costs 33 percent more than a well
managed wireless placement where the company owns the devices. The author says
that the problem is the fact that there is
Heroism In Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, And Sister
Carrie
The definition of a hero is not straight edged. Heroes are, however, imagined to
possess certain qualities. Courage, romanticism, charming beauty, and a willingness
to defy society are four very prominent characteristics amongst heroes and contribute
to today s notion of heroism. In order to decide if and to what extent any character
lives up to the standards of heroism, one must search for these qualities.
Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, and Sister Carrie are three heroes from three different
novels. It has already been decided that they are heroes. Therefore, the question is not
whether or not they are heroes. The question is to what extent do they fit this notion
of heroism? To what extent do they possess courage, ... Show more content on

In order to be brave, one cannot fear getting in trouble. Although he struggles with
this obstacle and wants to obey his widow guardian, Huck makes a huge decision
that shows his overall defeat of this fear: Huck decides to protect Jim, a runaway
slave. Huck knows he could get in trouble both by the law and by God. He knows
that he has a big decision to make, declaring, ?I?d got to decide, forever, betwixt
two things,? and he decides, ?All right, then, I?ll go to hell? (Twain 223). The fear
of punishment is an obstacle that Huck overcomes, and on the other side stands
courage. The mere fact that Huck is helping a runaway slave is courageous, but
specific actions further prove Huck?s bravery. A choice example is when Huck
takes the stolen money from the duke and king and returns it to the rightful owners
(Twain 188 191). Another instance where the reader sees that spark of courage in
Huck?s eyes is when, after boarding a wrecked, abandoned ferryboat and falling
upon a few villains, Huck bravely takes matters into his own hands: ?But if we find
their boat we can put all of ?em in a bad fix ? for the Sheriff ?ll get ?em. Quick ?
hurry! I?ll hunt the labboard side, you hunt the stabboard? (Twain 80). Instead of
seeing the ?gang of murderers? and cowardly going on his way, Huck tries to trap
them for the Sheriff. Thus, overall, Huck is courageous. Heroism, however, entails
more than courage. One must consider Huck?s romanticism, looks,
The Career Interview With Ann Lobell Essay
Through the career interview conducted with Ann Lobell, many themes of
Management 104 have come through. They provide real life context to concepts
learned and shed light on labor relations and corporate culture in the real world.
Overall, there were takeaways to be found in reasons for long term relationships
with one s employer, changes within the workplace, and satisfaction with work.
One area to note that came up during the interview were the reasons Mrs. Lobell
used for taking and maintaining her career at Highmark. Highmark was known as
a workplace that empowered employees with opportunities for growth and
understood the importance of a work home balance. This proved to be particularly
appealing due to the full career ahead of Mrs. Lobell upon graduating college in
the 1980s. Additionally, Highmark was a well known company in central
Pennsylvania and offered competitive pay and benefits. As someone who was just
starting a family, security in a reputable firm and appropriate compensation was
crucial when job hunting for Mrs. Lobell. She expected to only stay with the firm
for five years or so in order to gain experience that could transfer to a higher paying
job, but stayed due to great upward mobility with pay increasing along with rank. As
a single mom after her divorce, a stable and steady income was a strong incentive to
stay in order to support her two children. In addition to the intrinsic motivators of
empowerment and extrinsic factors such as pay, the culture

Essay On Ethics. Ethics Essay 2 - 32/40 - RMIT University - StuDocu

  • 1. Essay On Ethics Writing an essay on the topic of ethics can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a thoughtful and nuanced exploration of complex ethical principles. The difficulty arises not only from the need to understand and define ethics but also from the multifaceted nature of ethical considerations. Ethics encompasses a wide range of subjects, including moral philosophy, personal values, societal norms, and professional conduct. Crafting an essay on ethics demands a deep dive into ethical theories such as utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, and consequentialism. Additionally, one must grapple with real-world ethical dilemmas and apply these theories to analyze and propose ethical solutions. The task becomes even more intricate when considering cultural and contextual variations in ethical perspectives, as what may be considered ethically sound in one culture might be viewed differently in another. Furthermore, the writer needs to navigate the evolving landscape of ethical issues in contemporary society. Topics like artificial intelligence ethics, bioethics, environmental ethics, and business ethics add layers of complexity, requiring a current understanding of these dynamic fields. Creating a cohesive and compelling essay on ethics also necessitates a balance between theoretical discussions and practical examples. The writer must engage the reader intellectually while illustrating the relevance of ethical considerations in everyday life. In conclusion, tackling an essay on ethics is a formidable undertaking that demands not only a solid grasp of ethical theories but also the ability to apply them to real-world situations. It requires a keen analytical mind, an understanding of diverse perspectives, and the skill to articulate complex ideas in a clear and coherent manner. For those seeking assistance in navigating the intricacies of an essay on ethics, HelpWriting.net provides a valuable resource. • 2. Vitas Strengths Superhuman Strength: Vitas is very powerful when he wants to be. His strength can sometimes be tied to his anger, becoming stronger the more he gives into his rage. Either way, he makes for a formidable opponent if you re his enemy. Vitas does not use this power often; instead he prefers to use his own strength to fight. He only uses this if he s enraged enough, or if it s a drastic measure. Healing factor: Vitas is able to heal and recover from injuries such as gunshots, gashes, broken bones, stabbing wounds, burns, and bite wounds. The speed of regeneration is usually dependent on how severe his injury is. Some injuries cannot be healed with this power; however, instead he must rest just like a human. Flight: Vitas has the potential to fly he just has to learn how to. Right now, he is dependent on the Miracle of Flight, granted by goddesses Palutena and Viridi. There is a downside to this the Miracle of Flight only lasts 5 minutes. If this time limit is surpassed, Vitas wings will catch fire, proving fatal to his life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Angelic Weapons: If hit in a vital spot or injured well enough of one of these, Vitas can be killed. Magic: Vitas is still a mortal and is, as such, is still vulnerable to the workings of magic. Black magic has an adverse effect on him, and he s able to be trapped inside of an pentagram or magic circle which weakens his powers. Power development: Vitas nephilim powers are still in the development stage. His brother, Vlad, is much more experienced with these. Therefore, he is not able to do other things that fully fledged Nephilims can, e.g. healing, empathy, and more. Hunted: Some Nephilim are viewed as a disgrace and a complete mistake to every normal angel, making them a prime subject for
  • 3. Hans Use Of Political And Social Themes Hans Haacke has been characterized as among some of the most revolutionary and controversial contemporary and conceptual artists of all time. Haacke s works are generally simply constructed yet exquisitely permeated with depth and importance through his integration of social, political, and environmental issues in his pieces that give them a voice they would otherwise lack. In the following essay, we will seek to understand just how Hans Haackes use of political and social themes causes his work to resonate with audiences on the scale it has done. When gazing upon the vast expanse of art history, it becomes evident that the greatest and most influentially revolutionary individuals are not those that dabble in the popular and well studied styles of old. Those who are great flee from average and explore uncharted new territories. The individuals that choose to really set themselves apart from the rest of art culture are those who branch out in totally new directions. Those who delve into new ideas and new ways of expressing themselves through mediums and styles few have trodden upon. Hans Haacke has cemented himself in history as one of these influential and revolutionary individuals. His pioneering work of a conceptual nature was unparalleled and unmatched by his competitors at its conception. Hans Haacke was born August 12, 1936 in the little town of Cologne, Germany. Before he started formal education, he was part of an global organization known as Zero. Zero was a

The Army Field Manual 7 22.7 states that, Sharp appearance, efficient performance, and excellent maintenance are important considerations that affect you directly. They are the earmarks of a good organization and one you should be a proud member of. First line leaders should inspect their soldiers daily and should regularly check soldiers rooms in the barracks. A task in which, I, as PFC Kennedy s first line supervisor, failed to accomplish. A broken window or microwave does not do a soldier any good. I quote straight from the Creed of the Noncommissioned Officer, My two basic responsibilities will always be uppermost in my mind, accomplishment of my mission and the welfare of my soldiers. I am disgraced to admit that I failed to comply with this line of the very outline of my role as a noncommissioned officer. I believe that every noncommissioned officer should do more than recite the words for a board. They should live by those words. If there is ever any doubt as to what my responsibilities are as a leader I always refer back to the Creed of the Noncommissioned Officer. I find there are no better words to describe a good leader than those found within that creed. The fact that I did not live by those words shames me as a leader. However, it also strengthens me. It shows me where my faults lie and what I need to improve upon to ensure I am always doing my very best as a leader. From this point forward I will learn from my inactions and improve both myself and my soldiers. I will set the standard for my soldiers and ensure those standards are enforced. I will instill a sense of discipline in them as well. From now on I will ensure I conduct regular room inspections to ensure that the discipline, safety, and health of my soldiers are not in jeopardy. In this essay I have discussed the importance of room inspections from
  • 6. Mountain Man Beer MOUNTAIN MAN BREWING CASE WRITE UP Problem Statement: Mountain Man Brewing (MMB) has been successful with only one beer, Mountain Man Lager, but consumption has decreased. The decrease in sales for this beer has caused a decrease in profits, since it is their only product. Mountain Man needs to consider a change in their positioning strategy to increase sales and profits to keep the business successful. Alternative #1: Create, promote and sell Mountain Man Lager Light Pros: It gives them the use of their name that is already well known and liked in their current market area. It creates a light beer for the younger target market that drinks light beers. Cons: It could result in customers switching from regular to light, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They will face a higher production demand if they do increase sales to more areas. There will be more importance and expense on distribution due to having to make the sales with businesses in more distant States and with having to provide them with the product in a timely and dependable manner. Recommendation: Mountain Man Brewing should choose alternative #3 to keep the Mountain Man Lager beer as their only beer and work to grow it into a larger market by moving into additional States. Doing so keeps them focused on the strength of their unique and successful beer, rather than trying to move toward something more common to follow behind competitors. If they were to pursue the light beer, it may increase revenue, but not likely to be by that much. Even though the consumption of the light beers has grown significantly in the younger market segment, it is still most likely that they will usually choose the common, major brands, such as Bud Light and Miller Light. They could not get into true competition with the major brands, and would most likely take away sales from their current product due to customers either switching to the light beer or losing dedication to their unique offer. Even though it may leave out the younger consumer market, they can still draw interest from those individuals as they get older and become more likely to trying specialty beers. They could also look for ways to market

Joseph Smith or Brigham Young s Contributions to the Mormon Movement Many settlers travelled east, but the most important religious group to travel east was the Mormons. The Mormon religion was started by a person called Joseph Smith. A Smith grew up on his farm, angles appeared telling him there was a book (written upon golden plates) on a hillside near Manchester, New York. Once dug up, the plates were published in a translated version, which contained statements of his father and brothers saying they had seen the plates. Smith started to preach his new religion. Smith prayed for more guidance. He was told to allow Mormons to practice polygamy. The Non Mormons built more hatred in the Mormons. Smith was sent to jail and was later killed by a mob of Non Mormons. After the death of the Mormon leader, a new leader called Brigham Youngwas introduced. Young was convinced that the Mormons would not live in peace anywhere in the east. He had guidebooks about the Oregon Trail, which contained the most reserved place in the entire west which was near the Great Salt Lake. Young was an excellent organiser (he organised the move to Nauvoo), a down to earth man, and was a determined man. He decided to move west and left Nauvoo in the spring of 1846. The Mormons prepared for the great journey. As they entered the South pass, they met a person called Jim Bridger, which warned Young Salt Lake City is not the place to grow corn, as it gets cold at night. Young simply ignored him. As soon as the Mormons arrived, they started the creation of there new city. The Mormons achieved a lot, but did not know what was happening in the world around them. In 1848, America defeated Mexico in war. A large amount of the Mexican territory was handed over to the US (which included Deseret, the new name though by Young for the Mormon city). However, the US refused to recognise Deseret. After compromising, the territory of Utah was
  • 8. My Writing Philosophy Research Paper My Writing Philosophy To succeed as an elementary school teacher, I need each one of my students to succeed. When I first decided to become an educator, I had it in my mind that reading was the backbone of the classroom. However, after this semester, I have learned writing is every bit as important as reading. Classroom teachers as well as writing researchers have discovered that even young children communicate through writing, and that hey begin writing as they re learning to read or even before they can read. Grammar and writing are not one in the same, and the previous statement tells me that writing instruction needs improvement in today s classrooms. I firmly believe time is of most importance when it comes to good writing. It s crucial that appropriate time is carved out of every day for writing. I think it s important to make writing cross curricular; this can be very time consuming, but allowing students to see the value of writing in every subject will be beneficial to their future. During designated writing time, I want to incorporate all five of the developmental stages of the writing process. When a student can pre write, write, revise, edit and publish their work, they are building a strong foundation of their writing
  • 9. The Decline Of Western Culture Schaeffer Critique Purpose of Text and Intended Audience The purpose of the book is to discuss the decline of Western culture by analyzing history from his perspective from Rome to his present day (the 1970 s). Schaeffer (2005) presents the idea that to redeem society Christians must live as God desires and completely live by the Bible s teachings of morals and values. The intended audience would be Christians, because the entire tone of the book comes from a Christian worldview. Although, non believers may read the book, they may not glean insights from it like believers. Thesis and Bias Schaeffer s (2005) thesis was on how we should live now by understanding our history and culture through philosophical, scientific, and religious knowledge. Throughout the book Schaeffer (2005) displays bias because the book is written from a Christian perspective. Therefore, the way history is presented is skewed due to his Christian intent. Theoretical Assumptions and Issues One of the first concepts Schaeffer (2005) explores in the book is the significance of peoples presuppositions of Western history. Schaeffer (2005) believes that everyone has presuppositions and that they are gained through our family, peers, and our culture. His issue is that Western Civilization is declining and tracing history can shed light on why and how we should live to reverse the effects (Schaeffer, 2005). Historical and Current Issues and Implications The book begins in Rome. Schaeffer (2005)

What Was The Primary Cause Of The First Crusades he subject of the crusades is still a very controversial topic that spans across various time periods and has religious, social, and political implications. The first crusade started off as a widespread pilgrimage that ended as a military expedition resulting in the recapture of Jerusalem in 1099. The crusadesinitiated from a call from help from Alexius for the protection of Constantinople and the recovery of Anatolia. For centuries textbooks have repeated with routine regularity, that the immediate cause, of the Crusades was the Turkish conquest of the Near East, which apparently was a very real threat to Christendom, that had to be countered by military action. With this in mind, the primary purpose of this essay is to identify the various reasons that contributed to the start of the first crusade, while disproving the fact that the first Crusade was a response to a military threat. In discovering the true cause of the first crusades it is necessary to examine it from all aspects from the start to the finish. It all started with Alexius Comnenus the Byzantine emperor, sending letters and an embassy to the West requesting military aid to combat the Turkish threat in Asia Minor. Alexius had inherited a weakened empire in 1081 Byzantium was under siege from all sides, primarily by the Seljuk Turks. Alexius tried everything including making peaceful negotiations with the Turks that involved giving up pieces of land in exchange for peace. However, despite his attempts the

WWII was the birthplace for some of the worst crimes against humanity ever committed. Often times, we view the United States as a hero in WWII; as a force that fought on the side of good. However, the United States is not an exception when it comes to detestable acts in WWII. Aside from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, one of our worst acts as a superpower came during Japanese war crime investigations after the war was over. During the trials of Unit 731, a deal was made with Ishii Shiro that the government is still trying to cover up. First, it is important to review Unit 731 and the U.S cover up so that we may address more detailed issues concerning this topic. We will then explore the government statements on the issue of medical and military advances as a result of the deal, and explore evidence that provides a contrary conclusion. One of the greatest horrors of WWII, Unit 731, is often overlooked when talking about WWII atrocities, perhaps because it is not taught in the secondary education curriculum. Unit 731 was a top secret Japanese medical unit during the cold war that focused on producing biological and bacteriological weapons during WWII. While biological and bacteriological are, by many, considered to be inhumane in nature, Unit 731 went even further by partaking in human experimentation in order to achieve greater knowledge about these weapons, and to gain knowledge about anything that might

Rowling has caused controversy for many families over the past five years. These novels according to some critics are harmless, adventurous, children s tales. The Harry Potter novels chronicle the life of a young wizard whose wizard parents were killed by the evil Lord Voldermort. Reading aloud humorous and exciting stories like Harry Potter allows for a myriad of shared emotions (Giorgis 82). Interesting books read aloud leave kids wanting to hear another. This contrasts with the daughters modern and hip hop language that incorporates many slang terminologies, non standard English sentences and phrases, and a very relaxed tone. Although we see the father is able to put a couple sentences together, everything from his tone and range clearly show his inexperience to the speech. An example to showcase his failure is when he attempts to say an he try da get al up in dat. The father used the same expression but with different pronunciation. The obsession of architecture with this term is slowly taking over; architects strive towards creating Iconic buildings as a way to gain fame. How does one design an Iconic building and what does it imply when placed within a particular context? We will explore this through a particular architectural project of the church of San Giovanni Battistaunder Florence, an icon which never really succeeded in achieving its purpose and yet contains some of the very fundamental and curcial ideas about the Iconic which I want to express in this essay. In the church of the highway however, the bells are beneath the weight of architecture, hidden by the concrete slabs. This furthermore reinforces Michelucci s idea of creating an icon of speed: architecture that is not meant to become a centre of a town or unifying element of society, but rather a glimpse of a flash. Isolation In Isabel Allende s The House Of The Spirits For Esteban Trueba in chapter 2 of the House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, after the death of his fiancee Rosa, he demonstrates his reactions to total isolation from his family, friends, and the ones he loves most. Ultimately, Esteban s reactions to this newfound isolation help convey his character which is demonstrated through symbolism, diction, and inner conflict he faces through all these years. Because Esteban becomes the leader of the Tres Marias hacienda, he assumes a sensual nature, but nonetheless an anxious, angry, and tense one as well, as exemplified by the symbolism and wordplay of Allende. In the first section of the passage, Allende represents Esteban s mourning of Rosa s death as during The first months, Esteban Trueba was so busy channeling water, digging wells, removing stones, clearing pastures, and repairing the chicken coops and stable that the had no time to think about anything (Allende). By using words such as channeling, removing, clearing, and repairing, it ultimately depicts meaning towards Esteban s grief against the death of Rosa. For example, by channeling his anger, removing and clearing what he had with her, and by trying to repair himself mentally after being so distraught, it helps demonstrate and foreshadow the fact that he is a very emotional person throughout the entire book. Overall, by Allende portraying Esteban as a character that is very hard working and admirable through using these words, her aim is for the

Parents have a right to be in charge of what is put into the minds of their students, however just because one parent objects does not mean that the whole school should ban the book from the list. A solution for this book would be to enforce parental consent for books to be read in the classroom. If a parent does not want a book to be read in the classroom, then there should be other options for the student to read. The school and teacher should not trespass on a parent s rights of raising their child. I believe that if a parent has a concern, they should go and discuss the problem with the teacher so that the teacher will be able to defend their reasoning for choosing the book to be read in the classroom. The Theory Of Regression Results DESCRPTION OF REGRESSION RESULTS In order to empirically examine the extent to which changes in price causes changes in broiler (chicken) consumption, time series data was collected on 40 observations extending from 1960 to 1999 on nine explanatory variables in total. I regressed this data using an Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach. The main explanatory variable used for my analysis was the consumer price index (CPI) for whole fresh chicken with the base years denoted as the 1982 to 1984 time period. The econometric model for my regression analysis is listed below: Broiler Consumption = a+ОІ_(1 ) (CPI of broilers)+ ОІ_2 (income)+ ОІ_3 (population)+ОІ_(4 ) (CPI for beef)+ОІ_(5 ) (PPI for corn)+ ОІ_(6 ) (NPI for broiler feed)+ОІ_7 (CPI)+ОІ_8 (AP of Broilers)+ОІ_9 (population)+ОІ_(10 ) (exports of beef, veal and pork)+ Оµ Data regarding my dependent variable was originally collected as pounds consumed per capita. However, I multiplied the per capita broiler consumption data by 100,000 to obtain broiler consumption in pounds per 100,000 people. In this way, I was able to obtain a larger coefficient on a few of the variables, which allowed for a more suitable display and discussion of the results in the paper. Further, the objective of this analysis was to explain to what extent price of broilers (CPI on whole fresh chicken) impacts broiler consumption in pounds. Free will is defined as having the ability to make our own choices. Some will argue that all of our decisions have already been dictated by our desires therefore we never actually truly make our own choices. The purpose of this paper is to defend the argument that we have free will by attacking the premise that states we have no control over what we desire. I will defeat this premise by showing how one does have control over his/her desires through the idea of self control. I will then defend my argument against likely rebuttals that state that there is still no way to control our desires proving that we do have free will. 1. The Argument Against Free Will The argument against free will states that; what you do is always determined by what you have the strongest desire to do, but you have no control over what you desire. If what you do is always determined by something that you have no control over then you can never actually act freely. It follows from what has been said that one does not have free will. The first statement seems to not make a whole lot of sense right off the bat. You would think that if someone wants to do something but does not do it then they are not choosing their greatest desire. How does your brain tell you what you want? Do you have any control over what your brain says you want? According to what this argument states we do not

In today s modern world, scientists are most commonly using this technology in agricultureto pinpoint genes, isolate them, and then manipulating these genes to create crops with predetermined traits. This type of engineering, in plant based foods, stems from a desire to create foods which do not occur organically in nature. The term organic foods , directly describes foods in which no artificial or genetically modified processes are used during the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, we will give a rough overview of how plant based GMO products are produced. Secondly, we will discuss how organic plant based foods are produced. The basic production of a genetically engineered seed is broken down as follows: the desired gene in the seed is selected and copied (or removed), a certain species of plant is selected for injection, the method of transference into the selected species is chosen, finally the specific gene is inserted into a specific portion of the DNA. After this process of genetic rearrangement, a seed containing the new genetic material (or lack thereof), is produced. These seeds are then sold to farmers to be planted and grown. During the growth of these plants, heavy pesticides use, enhanced soil, and engineered fertilizers are often used to optimize growth and ensure plant maturity. The process in which natural, organic foods are produced differs from genetically engineered foods because it is a process which has not changed (much) over hundreds of years. The seeds used in organic foods are generally seeds in which nature has passed down through natural processes e.g., a natural life cycle of a plant. A natural life cycle of a plant would look like this: a seed is planted, the plant grows, the plant matures, the plant produces seeds, the process repeats. The differences in the growing process of organic

The company operates facilities that provide services to the mentally ill such as counseling, hospital alternative programs, case management, housing assistance, and community outreach. The community outreach branch has been participating in the World Suicide Prevention Day campaigns since they were first organized, but there has been very little participation by the community, or even similar agencies, in this effort. The company has a particular stake in this effort as the mentally ill population in the region is almost three times more likely to commit suicide than an individual who does not claim mental health problems (SingHealth, 2012). Be sure to discuss what each wanted to accomplish. The treaty of the Versailles was an agreement between France, England and the United states. Its intentions were to prevent a second world war however, it was a total fail. An obvious reason for not being effective could be because not everyone was included in the conference such as Russia, and Central Powers. Instead, Prime minister George Clemenceau had thought he would speak for all of europe and wanted to be the strongest of europe. Clemenceau seeked revenge towards Germany, in fact he desired most dismantle the best of Germany s military and their nationalist pride. • 46. Examples Of Figurative Language In Catcher In The Rye What is the author s style? In this case, Salinger s style is based on the many topics of literature, including the three basic elements, which are diction, syntax and figurative language. The Catcher In The Rye is a very eye catching book that talks about a young man named Holden, who got expelled from his school, Pencey Prep. Salinger speaks through the eyes of Holden Caulfield. His styleis portrayed by showing the distinctive way he uses language compared to other authors. In this novel, Salinger shows the diction mainly during the dialogues between the characters. The diction of The Catcher In The Rye is informal due to the different types of colloquial used throughout the story. An example of this colloquial diction in the book was when Stradlater told Holden to hurry up in this way, Why don tcha? I will, in minute time. (Stradlater, p.32) We can see that Stradlater uses a type of slang language as in don tcha. This shows the diction of the story and how it gives us a feel for what Salinger was trying to do to catch the reader s attention. This novel also shows us many examples of imagery and symbolism. Imagery gives us a picture of what is happening in that scene of the story. Imagery gives the reader a realistic look of it. Symbolism just shows an object or something in that book that represents something special to one of the characters or even the author. These both can affect the author s style by setting the mood of the story. In this novel, there was an

  • 51. Weber s Theory Of Authority The purpose of this essay is to analyse Weber s theory of authority and power in order to establish its role in the modern contemporary world today. Weber, in his most acclaimed writings, discusses his three ideal types of authority being outlined as traditional, charismatic and rational legal authority. He believes that in order for any political leader or political establishment to hold legitimate authorityover its peoples, they must have either one of these types of authority. All of these types of power and authority can be referred to in some way in today s contemporary world using examples of differing political leaders and systems. However, Weber s writings were conducted in 1922 and may be considered as out dated, and not as relevant as they were at his time of writing. Also, many dispute that Weber s types of authority were perhaps not entirely relatable and Martin Spencer, like many other critics of Weber s work in fact argue that there should have been four types of authority. Hence why these issues must be discussed in order to conclude whether Weber s ideal types of authority are representative of political leaders and governments, and whether or not they can be associated with the contemporary world we live in today. Max Weber introduced his three types of authority in an essay which was first published in 1922 in German, and was later published in 1958 in English. Weber believes that many systems can consider themselves as holding legitimate authority, yet

Thus, the prosecution of witchcraft was best suited in a court of law exercising established criminal procedures as opposed to employing procedures regarding crimen exceptum, or expected crimes.... Courage, romanticism, charming beauty, and a willingness to defy society are four very prominent characteristics amongst heroes and contribute to today s notion of heroism. Although he struggles with this obstacle and wants to obey his widow guardian, Huck makes a huge decision that shows his overall defeat of this fear: Huck decides to protect Jim, a runaway slave. Huck knows he could get in trouble both by the law and by God. He knows that he has a big decision to make, declaring, ?I?d got to decide, forever, betwixt two things,? and he decides, ?All right, then, I?ll go to hell? (Twain 223). The fear of punishment is an obstacle that Huck overcomes, and on the other side stands courage. The mere fact that Huck is helping a runaway slave is courageous, but specific actions further prove Huck?s bravery. A choice example is when Huck takes the stolen money from the duke and king and returns it to the rightful owners (Twain 188 191). Another instance where the reader sees that spark of courage in Huck?s eyes is when, after boarding a wrecked, abandoned ferryboat and falling upon a few villains, Huck bravely takes matters into his own hands: ?But if we find their boat we can put all of ?em in a bad fix ? for the Sheriff ?ll get ?em. Quick ? hurry! I?ll hunt the labboard side, you hunt the stabboard? (Twain 80). Instead of seeing the ?gang of murderers? and cowardly going on his way, Huck tries to trap them for the Sheriff.
