Essay On Engineering
Crafting an essay on the topic of engineering is undoubtedly a challenging task. The sheer
breadth and depth of the subject present a myriad of complexities that writers must navigate.
Engineering encompasses a wide array of disciplines, from mechanical and electrical to civil and
aerospace, each with its unique intricacies. To capture the essence of engineering in a single essay
requires a delicate balance between providing a comprehensive overview and delving into
specific details.
The challenge lies in presenting technical information in a way that is accessible to a broad
audience without oversimplifying or losing the essence of the subject. Striking the right balance
between technical jargon and layman's terms poses a considerable obstacle. Moreover, staying
up-to-date with the latest advancements in engineering adds an extra layer of difficulty, as the
field is constantly evolving.
Structuring the essay poses its own set of challenges. Deciding on a coherent and logical flow
that effectively communicates key concepts while maintaining the reader's interest can be
daunting. Balancing the theoretical aspects of engineering with practical applications further
complicates the writing process.
Additionally, addressing the ethical considerations and societal impacts of engineering adds
another layer of complexity. Navigating the nuanced discussions surrounding the responsibility
of engineers in addressing global challenges requires a nuanced and well-reasoned approach.
In conclusion, writing an essay on engineering demands a deep understanding of the subject,
effective communication skills, and a keen awareness of the broader implications. It is a task that
necessitates a careful blend of technical expertise and eloquent expression to successfully
convey the multifaceted nature of engineering to a diverse audience.

Importance Of Sportsmanship In Sports
The two things that most attract me to Wellesley are the Chandler Pool and the Lulu
Campus Center.
Sportsmanship is one of my defining characteristics. Having been swimming for the
past three years, the eight lane professional Chandler Pool at Wellesley attracts me
deeply. Swimming has both strengthened my perseverance and given me the spirit of
collaboration and sportsmanship. I enjoy the feeling of racing in the water, pushing
myself to the finish line. Swimming has given my body power, developed my deep
thinking skills, and, most importantly, made me into a leader. As the captain of the
swimming team at my high school, I have had tough moments leading the team,
because most of my teammates are more senior than I and I am also an international
student. But a loud voice without any action won t win over team members. I
changed the situation by working harder and improving my communication skills. I
practice longer hours than any other team member., and became the fastest one in
the team, although I am not the most physically fit. I volunteered to swim the 500
yards freestyle and fought for my team to make the state meet. I constantly practice
my communication skills and improve my English. Instead of giving direct orders
to team members, I help and care for my team members. During my two week
medical leave, although my doctor advised me to stay at home and rest, I went to the
swimming pool, helping the coach keep time, cheering for my team and handing them
water and towels.

Women Leaving Her Husband Analysis
Butler explains to her readers the ample reasons why wives of the medieval time
period would decide to leave their husbands. In fact, on page 338 of her article,
Butler writes, The goal of this paper is to provide a more comprehensive perspective
of husband desertion, including the risks involved in deserting one s husband, the wife
s motivations, and the logistics of desertion (Butler 338). She begins her article with
some background information in hopes to enlighten her readers that at this point in
history, men had all the power in any marriage. Following the brief history of the
misogyny found in medieval marriages, Butler uses the rest of her article to
explain to her readers the trials and tribulations these wives had to go through, the
risk of others knowing she wanted to leave, and what made the wives want to leave
at all. Butler first chooses to explain what the risks were when a wife left her
husband during the medieval era. Due to the misogyny found in medieval marriages,
if a womandecided to leave her husband, she had to be well aware of the
consequences that would follow. For instance, Butler points out to her audience that
if a woman decided to leave her husband, then must live with the label of adulteress.
This label guarantees that this woman would never be able to claim any inheritance in

A Theme of the Opera in Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett The theme of the novel draws its most core intensities
from the art of opera. Patchett fantastically utilizes the language and the pathos of
music for the examination of jungle born revolutionaries and the international
hostages. This novel reflects our extraordinary aptitude to structure emotional
associations in improbable and shaky ways. Manette Ansay, author of Midnight
Champagne says: Let me put this plainly: Ann Patchetthas written the best book I
have read in a long, long time. Bel Canto is a masterpiece to its title, a beautiful
song, and a broad, bold entirely original love story destined to become an
international classic. This is the book we all wait for, the one we thrust into the
hands of friends, saying, You ve got to read this! You ve got to read this now!
According to The New York Times Book Review: Expect miracles when you read
Ann Patchett s fiction. The plot captures the attention right from the opening. The
action begins with the very first sentence of the novelas the lights drop out during a

The Marketing Environment For REI
The marketing environment for REI is immensely complicated. While some aspects
of marketing, including price, promotion, product and place is within the company s
controls, other external factors are not. Factors external to REI s control include local
and global economic factors, legal and regulatory forces, socio cultural trends, and
technology.
Major elements of the U.S. economy affecting REI s retail operations include
consumer confidence, interest rates, and inflation. All three elements either stimulate
or depress consumer spending. Low consumer confidence, high interest rates, or
rising inflaction, place pressure on companies to lower prices, which has a negative
impact on sales margins.
The economic performance of global markets as well as geo political influences
directly affects U.S. consumer sentiment and suppresses consumer spending. Current
examples include the economic instability in Greece and China. ... Show more content

based company, REI is required to adhere to all U.S. laws and regulations. This
includes financial laws and regulations, including local, state, and federal tax laws,
and federal trade laws. As an employer REI has to abide to labor laws, which
governs, amongst other, Labor Standards, Workplace Safety and Health, and
Employee Benefits. Furthermore, REI is required to comply with the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, which prevents workplace discrimination and
guarantees equal opportunities for disabled workers.
The incredible pace of technological advancement is a challenge for all companies. In
recent years, the greatest growth was seen in mobile devices, which challenges
companies, like REI, to keep up with consumer demands. With mobile devices,
customers want to interact with companies on their terms. Companies, like REI, can
respond by offering personalized marketing directed at users of mobile devices.
Mobile devices are also leading the charge for new payment methods, NFC enabled

Elastic Collisions In A Cue Ball
In a pool game, the physics are the determining factor to almost every game. The
balls must go into each pocket at the long edges of the pool table by letting the cue
ball hit it. After it is hit, it heads into a specific direction based off the momentum,
mass, and angle of the hit. This experiment will showcase the results of multiple
collisions on two objects of equal mass. A certain physics equation, called elastic
collision, demonstrates this mathematically. Elastic collision, given by 1/2mvc^2 =
1/2mva^2 + 1/2mvb^2, only applies if the momentum and kinetic energy of the
objects colliding are conserved. Once the masses cancel, the equation is simplified
to a familiar equation: the Pythagorean theorem, also known as a^2 + b^2 = c^2
(Real World Physics 1).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this is taking into account the conversation of kinetic energy and
momentum. These two laws state that kinetic energy and momentum will be
constant when it transfers from one object to another. Inelastic collision describes
the collision between two objects that generally lose their energy, a more common
collision since a little energy is almost always lost during any sort of action. By the
well known law of the conservation of energy, none of this energy is destroyed. It is
just lost as the cue ball continues to travel, making the transfer of energy less
efficient. This experiment will be focusing on the collision of smooth spheres without
friction being a major variable in the experiment due to how pool balls are made,
conserving the momentum for the most part (Hyperphysics

Chikankari
Chikan (Hindi: चिकन, Urdu: چکن‬‎) is a traditional embroidery
style from Lucknow, India. Literally translated, the word means embroidery.
Believed to have been introduced by Nur Jehan, Mughal emperor Jahangir s wife,[1]
it is one of Lucknow s most famous textile decoration styles.
There are several theories about the origin of Chikankari. Chikankari the process of
chikan was basically invented in Lucknow. It developed quickly during the period
when the Mughals ruled and consisted of styles inspired by Persians. Lucknow grew
into an international market for its renowned Chikankari work. There are references

KASHMIRI COLLECTION
Kashida of Kashmir
Kashmiri embroidery is well known for the beauty of its colour, texture, design and
technique. Probably, the best known Indian embroidery is the Kashida of Kashmir
. This embroidery is revealed in shawls and in cottage industry done by the
members of families in Srinagar. Kashmiri embroidery is practiced by men and it
is essentially a commercial craft.| | According to Ramala S. Dongekery, the shawl
industry in Kashmir was introduced by Zain ul Abedin. Akbar was also
responsible for introducing a new type of shawl the Dowshala meaning Twin
shawl . In this two similar shawls were woven together, then sewn back to back. So
the under surface of the shawls were not visible. Khwaja Yusuf during his stay in
Kashmir got the idea of producing shawls with help of Rafoogar . These were later
known as Amli Shawls . Amli shawls were plain woven shawls,
Essay Fucus Sprial Research on Water
Coal is found in deeper layers of earth. To retrieve coal from those layers, underground
tunnels need to build. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To
prevent this, steam pumps were installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater
pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean (Wilkinson 2011, 3).
Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the
abandoned mine over years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to
release itself. This is called natural drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). In case of the
project, this happens through the outfall which is right above high water spring tide.

During spring tide, the tidal amplitude is very large.
The opposite is called neap tide and occurs when sun and moon are at right angles.
The gravitational attractions act in opposition and the tidal amplitude is very low.
7.4 Rocky shore
These shores were shaped by different natural forces. Those forces include the rise
and fall of tides, wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist
of rocky ledges, boulders and pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be
found.
Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The
zones vary in diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone
(Little 2009, 17).
The top of the shore is bare rock and living organisms such as littorinid snails or
lichens can be found there. This zone is called splash zone as it above high tide
mark and therefore perpetually out of water (Little 2009, 18).
The second zone is called littoral zone (or intertidal) and has its boundaries defined
as distance between very highest and very lowest spring tide. The lower, middle
and upper shore are included into this zone and there is a varying degree of
exposure to seawater, depending on the tide. Organisms living there must be able to
cope with fluctuating air and breaking waves. Rock pools and Fucus spiralis are
found in this part of the rocky shore (Little 2009, 18).
The lowest zone is the so called sublittorial zone and

The Character of Chillingworth in The Scarlet Letter Essay
The Character of Chillingworth in The Scarlet Letter
Old Mr. Prynne began his new life in the town of Boston as the Physician Roger
Chillingworth. The moment he arrived, the town deemed him intelligent and mild
mannered; he always seemed pleasant although a little odd. Throughout the seven
years he remained in Boston, his character changed so dramatically from admirable
to evil that even those who did not know him personally seemed to notice an evil
nature deep within his soul trying to break free.
Chillingworth stood with Hester Prynne within the confines of the prison, talking
with her about how he would go about finding her lover. He says to her,... Show more

Hester looked at the man of skill, and even then, with her fate hanging on the balance,
was startled to perceive what a change had come over his features, how much uglier
they were, how his dark complexion seemed to have grown duskier, and his figure
more misshapen... (Pg.103). Hester is not the only person to notice the change in
Chillingworth; many of the townspeople recognize the changes in him as well, At
first his expression had been calm, meditative, scholar like. Now there was
something ugly and evil in his face, which they had not previously noticed, and
which still grew more obvious to sight the oftener they looked upon him (Pg. 117).
Slowly but surely Roger Chillingworth is changing from a man with normal
interests, to a man with an evil obsession; every day he is getting closer and closer
to the dark side.
Later on during the story while Hester and Chillingworth are in the woods talking
about Dimmesdale, Hester shouts at Chillingworth, You search his thoughts. You
burrow and rankle in his heart! Your clutch is on his life and you cause him to die
daily a living death! (Pg. 156) Hester knows Chillingworth has more evil in his
blood than ever before in his life; he feeds off the pain he causes Dimmesdale and
enjoys every minute of it. Chillingworth doesn t realize in the slightest how much
more evil flows through his veins now, than did before in his life. It

The Effect Of Biofeedback On Basketball Players And
Effect...
2. Background Information
This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on
their on court performance. Athletes need to have the capability to modify, learn, and
correct their muscle memory. Enhancing an athlete s performance depends on the
ability for the central and peripheral nervous systems to communicate in response to
an active stimulus. This study has some variables measured including the reaction
time: the time between the stimulus and a bodily movement; the movement time: the
time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement; and the
response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been
previous studies that look at the use of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMG BFB)
and Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations
between improvement in performance and responsiveness to stimuli. However, there
has not been an analysis of the use of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB)
which measures an increase in the response time and attention deficit in athletes. The
most important aspect of an athlete s performance is the ability to tune out outside
disturbances during a game or match. If an athlete can master that skill, then they can
perform at their optimum output. Having the ability to enhance their techniques is
important for achievement in sports, especially in basketball, where there are a
multitude of offensive and defensive skills. Most notably,
The Second Amendment To The Constitution And The

]The constitution, it is quite possibly the largest piece of the puzzle that makes
America what it is. This document allows the American people to be who they are.
The constitution and its amendments outline the rules that are to be followed by
and the rights that are given to the people and the government. The first
amendment to the constitution is one that never seems to be debated itself, but its
interpretation is often times debated. In saying this I mean that most everyone
agrees that people should have the right to free speech, but what is often debated
is where to draw the line. The question is, what is the difference is between
someone using their right to free speech and them spewing hate speech. The first
amendment is quite possibly the most important to maintaining our form
government. It allows us, the people to have a say and speak on political topics
among other things. The full first amendment, which was officially put into place
alongside the second amendment in 1791, is made up of, for the most part, two
basic points. It touches on religion and preventing freedom of speech or press
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting
the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the
right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a
redress of grievances. The first of these points that touches on religion was first
formed based upon one of the main reasons that

A Simplified Approach On Dynamic Response
A Simplified Approach on Dynamic Response of Tall
Buildings due to Wind loads
Abstract: In this paper, a simplified approach on dynamic response of tall buildings
due to turbulent wind load is proposed to get a proper modification factor used in
equivalent static wind load method. The approach undertakes the investigation of
turbulent wind loads on high rise buildings in one of the frequency domain analysis
to get Peak Dynamic Response (PDR). This simplified method is developed by
using the Power Spectral Density Analysis in Sap 2000. The turbulent wind
spectrum, aerodynamic admittance and vertical coherence for buffeting wind
loading are estimated using Kaimal spectrum, empirical relationship proposed by
Vickery and Spatial Coherence of Davenport . The building models conditions are
documented as a data bank. Then, the proposed design method is introduced by
using design data bank. Then, the method is analyzed by the case studies with
respect to various wind speed and height of storeys. By introducing this proposed
method at the initial stage of analysis and design, less controlled parameters in
analysis and computational effort in specified regions than standard procedures can
be obtained.
Key Words: Simplified Approach, Modification Factor, Peak Dynamic Response
(PDR), Power Spectral Density Analysis, and Buffeting Wind Loading
Introduction: Wind is caused by differences in pressure. When a difference in
pressure exists, the air is accelerated from higher to lower
Changes in Policy after School Shootings
Policies have changed since the shooting happened in Littleton, Colorado. Before
Columbine the primary goal of law enforcement officers before and during a
shooting was to set up a perimeter and await arrival of SWAT members (Erickson,
2001). This policy has changed in many states including Pennsylvania where police
had been preparing for active shooters with local schools. Police are not able to wait
the twenty minutes to an hour for SWAT to arrive at a scene which is why the state
mandated that local police receive active shooting training (Coughlin, 2012). This
response and a brochure that the Department of Homeland Security came out with
are allowing schools a better chance of eliminating a shooter with less causalities and
injuries. This brochure goes into to profile of an active shooter, how to respond to an
active shooter, how to respond when law enforcement arrives, training staff for an
active shooter, preparing for and managing an active shooter situation, recognizing
workplace violence, managing the consequences of an active shooter, and lessons
learned (DHS, 2008). Recommendations were made following the shooting to
implement a command center with personnel able to take command at the beginning
of a crisis, control assembled personnel, and to communicate objectives clearly
(Erickson, 2001). This came after the failure of law enforcement to set up a successful
command center whereas Fire and EMS successfully instituted an incident command
center based on
Cabbage Root Fly
Biological Control of Cabbage Root Fly
Introduction
Biological control involves the use of living natural enemies to lower the population
of a particular pest species (Eilenberg et al. 2001). These natural enemies are called
biological control agents and can include viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasitoids,
predators or competitors. Biological control is an application of density dependence
and population regulation and is one aspect of integrated pest management. After the
discovery of synthetic chemicals as controls, research into biological controls
received little attention; however it is currently gaining popularity. This is due to its
many advantages over other control methods, such as synthetic pesticides, and its few
disadvantages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once implemented, the long term economic costs of biological control will often be
lower than alternative synthetic chemical controls because pesticides require repeated
application for ongoing efficacy. Biological control agents often exhibit high target
specificity, unlike pesticides which often result in non target organisms being
affected. Pesticides can bioaccumulate and biomagnify in the food chain and the
chemicals can leach through the soil negatively affecting other organisms. Biological
controls will continually target the pest while not affecting other potentially
beneficial coexisting organisms. Unlike chemical controls, biological controls are self
perpetuating, and the pests upon which they are acting usually do not develop a
resistance, or are slow to develop a resistance. With proper research and
understanding, the natural occurrence of biological controls can make their use safer
to humans and other organisms than that of synthetic
Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Psychodynamic Approach
To...
While psychodynamic and behavioural approaches are the two major approaches to
personality, they view personality from different perspective. Psychodynamic
approach argues personality is caused by forces in the unconscious but not learnt.
Individuals have little control over their behaviour as it is predetermined, and early
childhood plays a crucial part in shaping one s personality. Behavioural approach, on
the other hand, recognizes personality as learnt and focuses only on present
behaviour matters. Given the differences, it has been argued whether, in terms of
scientific merit, psychodynamic or behavioural approach is more comprehensive. The
strengths of psychodynamic approach are consideration of childhood experiences and
recognition of the unconscious part. On the contrary, behavioural approach focuses
on behaviour that can be scientifically measured and verified, and recognizes the
importance of external environment on personality. From the above arguments, it is
finally concluded, in term of methodology and testability, behavioural approach is
more comprehensive. Introduction The scientific merit of psychodynamic and
behavioural approaches to personality is quite different in terms of supporting
whether personality is largely inborn or learnt. The term scientific merit here is
defined as the methodology employed and testability of the approaches. On one hand,
it has been argued psychodynamic approach relies too heavily on unconscious mind
whose existence is hard

castles were the first type of castle to be built in England. The tower of the keepwas
built a huge mound called a motte and had an enclosed courtyard called a bailey. It
would have been very difficult to get up the sides of the motte because they were so
steep. A ditch dug around the bottom of the motte also added protection. The bailey
was located at the bottom of the motte and could be up to three acres. Followers of
the lord who ran the castlelived inside the bailey. There were many buildings in the
bailey including bakeries, kitchens, houses, stables, and living quarters for soldiers.
Motte and bailey castles were quick and easy to build. Some could even be finished
in a couple of weeks. However, wooden buildings caught on fire easily and stone
structures were much stronger. Because of this, motte and bailey castles were soon
replaced with stone castles.

was their walls. They had two or three walls around the keep. Because the inside
walls were built higher than the outside walls, defenders could shoot arrows over
the heads of the soldiers defending the outside walls. Even if an enemy broke though
the outer walls, there was a second castle defended and with supplies waiting for
them. Known as the death hole, being trapped between two walls of a castle would
result in almost certain death for the attacker. Some concentric castles even had moats
for more protection. After the invention of gun powder concentric castles became
even more popular because they could withstand bullets while a wooden castle could

Music Is The Genre Of Music
The modern day person encounters a plethora of genres in their everyday life.
Whether going to the grocery store or watching television, people are surrounded
by the genres of branding, music, twitter posts, Facebook statuses, and so much
more. While it is true that we are impacted by the world of genre around us each
day, it is also true that many people do not know what genre is. Genre is the
expression of people s thoughts, ideas, or emotions, towards a target audience, that
can be separated into categories depending on how one chose to express these
things. There are numerous different types of genre that can be found in the world,
but the most influential to myself is the genre of music. Music is everywhere, it
comes in millions of different forms, and is the one thing nobody can really go a
day without because it is such a common part of modern day life. Everyone has
their own style of music they like to listen to, play, sing, or do whatever to as
music can be applied and found in almost every situation. With such a powerful
influence, music is always changing with the world around us to be connected to
the modern era of life. In 2016, its clear that the music of our generation is not
swing, or classical, or blues music, but rather pop and rap. As rap has taken off,
genre has needed to expand, and thus today there are two types of rap, each with
similar styles but both conveying different messages, idea, and motive, those being
traditional rap and anti rap, or
Using Alternative Fuels For Cars
There are many different types of alternate fuels for cars at our disposal, such as
Ethanol, Natural Gas, Electricity, and Hydrogen Fuels. We can use these fuels
instead of normal gasoline fuels that pollute our air and contribute to destroying
our environment. Many of these alternative fuels may be less convenient to use,
because they are less accessible. However, if people decide to use these fuels then
they can make our world a green friendly world. There this a ton of upside to using
alternative fuels, according to Larry West s article on the top eight alternative fuels,
as they can help nations become more energy independent. In addition, there are
several downsides or challenges associated with alternative fuels for cars, such as...

At its low price it s much more affordable then most fuels making it a good option.
There a lot of positive sides to using ethanol but there an also a few negative things it
can produce when used or even made.
Ethanol is a good alternative fuel but there is negative things that come with it.
Ethanol requires a bunch of corn, barley, and wheat to make (Meyers, 2014).
Which in turn could be used to feed starving people all over the world. Using corn,
barley, and wheat hinders food availability and even the prices of the food. The new
York times has stated that using ethanol actually decreases gas mileage. Ethanol
gives you 2 3 miles less than normal gasoline (West, 2014). Ethanol can also break
down faster than normal gasoline. Meaning that ethanol can cause rust of the car
engine. Making ethanol can actually pollute the air a bunch because of all the
gasoline it requires to power the tractors and machines that gather the required
material to make it. Ethanol has negative impacts on our environment but overall it
has more positives then negatives and makes a good alternative fuel.
Natural Gas is another alternative fuel option that has a bunch of positive sides to it.
Using natural gas produces lower negative emissions that pollute the air. Natural gas
produces less smog then your normal gasoline that everyone uses. Natural gas is
helping America as a nation to use clean environmental friendly energy sources.
Using natural gas can reduce the probability of

Once you end a habit it is hard to pick it back up. This is the case of Eliza the main

The Theme Of God In Design, By Robert Frost
The subject of Robert Frost s Design is simply about life and death, but the theme
here is touching upon the question of God s role in the design of nature and the
world around us. The poem is more on the dark side from the way he describes the
main characters the white spider, the heal all flower, and the moth and the way he
starts to questionwhy everything went the way it did. Was it just a random
occurrence or does God actually make terrible things, like the spider killing the moth
on a flower, happen? To begin with, the speaker starts off the poem by introducing
the main characters. There is a spider, described as whiteand fat, then there is the
heal all which is basically a flower that is used for medicinal purposes. And last but
not least, the moth, who which flutters his way into his death. The big white spider
is perched up on the white flower, holding the moth as if they purposely all
gathered together for a witches brew. With this observation, the speaker constructs
a series of questions: why is the flower, that is usually blue, now white? Why did
the spider decide on that specific flower instead of any other one? And why did the
moth happen to fly by at that certain moment? In the last line, Frost asks the question
of if this how God designed the world to be. The speaker is Robert Frost himself,
just a bystander in the distance that so happens to stumble upon this scene and
observes it enough to write about it. The poem reveals what he now thinks
Emerging Infectious Diseases Essay
Emerging Infectious Diseases
Emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) are the third leading cause of death in the
United States and the first leading cause of death worldwide (3). Thus, should EID s
be considered an oncoming threat to human existence or is it God s response to our
unbiblical stewardship of the Earth or is it nature s practical solution to
overpopulation.
Past EIDs
Since the beginning of time, human existence has been overwhelmed by threatening
diseases. To begin with, leprosyand other highly contagious skin diseases affected
humanity as early as in the days of the Old Testament. Due to its rapidly infectious
manner and its degrading and dehumanizing results, skin diseased victims were often

In 1994, Gloucestershire, England was assailed by the infamous and unstoppable
flesh eating bacteria or Necrotizing Fasciitis, which virtually devoured its victims
to death (2). In March of 1996, 2.6 million cows were slaughtered in the United
Kingdom in an effort to rid themselves of the invasion of the Mad Cow disease.
Another term for Mad Cow disease is Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE),
which is a disease observed solely in cattle. Mad Cow disease or BSE is
transmitted to humans via the consumption of infected beef resulting in a fatal
human brain disorder known as Creutzfeldt Jacob (CJD). As a result of this British
beef scare 32 people died of CJD, of whose deaths were linked to Mad Cow disease
(10.e). Similarly, 1 million chickens were gassed to death in Hong Kong in 1997 in
order to prevent the already undertaking spread of Influenza A (H5N1) or Bird Flu

people in 1918 (10.b). In New York last month, five people died of a rare
encephalitis disease caused by a West Nile like virus, which is believed to have been
transmitted from birds, who researchers found to have died from the West Nile virus

gross amounts.
Refuge In The Wild Research Paper
Imagine not having any sense of security. No matter what or who you turn to there
nothing but the unknown. If a person does not have refuge it makes it difficult for
a person to function. Refuge can be a fundamental part of a person s life. Having
refuge can be enough to stabilize a someone. In some cases refuge may be the only
reason, someone may be working towards success. Since refuge can assist an
individual with overcoming issue, it is a basic part of their peace of mind. Most
individuals find refuge within their family: Chris says to her I m going to have to
be real careful not to accept any gifts from them. (21). While in the wild we see that
Chris is still in turmoil over his father s affair and the fact that his mother accepted it,

Philosophy And Practices Of Religion
The idea, concept, and practices of religion have never really been something that
is of importance to me during my life. For the longest time I did not identify as any
certain or specific religion and when asked I would simply state how I was not a
religious person. It was not until high school when I discovered the religionof
Agnosticism. In our English class we had to research different religions and our
group received Agnosticism. Before then I had never heard of that religion, but
after learning about Agnosticism it pretty much summed up how I feel and what I
believe about God and religion. Basically Agnosticism entails that the person
believes that the existence of God is uncertain and claims neither a faith nor a
disbelief in God. I feel like this religion perfectly sums up how I feel when it comes
to my faith and ideas about God and just religion as a whole. Since I am not a
religious type of person, the idea of me choosing another one that I would be a part
of seems like a difficult task. When I do think about the various religions that I have
studied, written, and read about during the course of this semester there is one that
stands out to me. If I had to choose another religion to join instead of my own, I
would join Buddhismbecause their fundamental principles and values are those that
I can agree with and their ultimate purpose in life is something I can see myself
believing in as well. To begin, in the Buddhist religion there are various principles and
Research On Cognitive Affective Processes
Intersubjectivity refers to the shared understanding between individuals (Göncü,
1993). Research shows cognitive affective processes help to develop intersubjectivity
(Tronick Cohn, 1989). Similarly, in psychotherapeutic relationships, cognitive
affective processes are the building blocks to the therapeutic alliance. A
psychotherapeutic alliance constitutes the shared client psychotherapist relationship
marked by mutual respect, caring and shared understanding of therapeutic goals. If
intersubjectivityis nurtured in the client psychotherapist relationship, this can lead to
increased mutual understanding and goal achievement (as defined by the client) in
psychotherapy. In order to show that psychotherapeutic alliances can be fortified by
applying intersubjectivity to psychotherapeutic relationships, this paper is divided
into four parts. First the literature review opens with the origin and definition of
intersubjectivity, including sections on communication, affect, prolepsis and zone of
proximal development (ZPD). The second section will look at applications to
psychotherapy. The third section will offer implications to the field and finally
concluding remarks will close with societal shifts that must be made to foster
intersubjectivity in psychotherapy.
Defining Intersubjectivity

Mother infant interaction provides the starting point for intersubjectivity (Trevarthen,
1979). Research has shown that infants as young as 3 months can shift focus and

Welfare Reform Essay
Is welfare a permanent solution or a temporary fix to a monumental epidemic in
society today? Congress has implemented welfare reform legislation that simply has
not helped or changed much. The question regarding the welfare system remains the
same. What is wrong with welfare and how can it be fixed? This is not a simple
question and does not have a simple answer. However, one thing is extremely clear;
welfareis not working and desperately needs to change. The current welfare system
is unfair to the taxpayers who are paying for failed programs, and the poor who
remain trapped in a system that takes away their self reliance and hope for their
children. In the face of sweeping welfare reform, much still needs to be done to

Another failure in welfare reform is clear in the welfare to work reform that was
enacted in 1996. It has fallen short in regards to what it set out to accomplish. This
reform was intended to discourage everyone but the very ill or disabled from
leading a life on benefits. Although, great in theory, it has failed to move many
from the welfare system to the work force, and has two major stumbling blocks.
The first one is very clear, the jobs just aren t there. With the worsening economy
and so many people losing their employment, the job market is flooded with
people trying to find jobs. Many businesses have been forced to close which has
contributed to less job openings. Without jobs for people to move into they
continue to rely on welfare for their existence. The second problem with the
welfare to work reform is that the jobs that can be obtained aren t what they were
in the past. Many jobs today are temporary, part time, or have uncertain hours.
Leaving the security of benefits for jobs like these can be related to stepping out on
cracking ice, and not many people are willing to take this step. Unless these
problems are dealt with, the welfare to work reform will continue to be unsuccessful
in helping people gain employment and they will continue to cling to benefits for
support. Welfare reform has failed miserably in its attempt to address the crisis of
illegitimacy, therefore requiring more and more funding for assistance
Different Types Of Bitmap

A bitmap image is an image that is stored as pixels, each of the pixels can only be one

The Rise Of Mass Attendance
Muhammad Ali once said Religions all have different names, but they all contain the
same truths... I think people of our religion should be tolerant and understand people
believe different things. This quote explains the tolerance and acceptance of another
religion, which clearly demonstrates the concept of pluralism. Even though the
Catholic Churchprovides a welcoming feeling to all new and existing members, the
decline of massattendance will further result in a decrease of catholic followers.
Secularism and pluralism are major factors in the change of attendance, which will be
further discussed. Margaret and Leo Laarhoven are members from Our Lady of

It s also the main source of your spiritual life, and if you took time to reflect on who
you are, and how much you should give back to god, the attendance in mass would
increase rapidly. A commandment from the Catholic church is to attend mass on
Sundays and holy days, this is one of its six commandments, which at the moment is
only being filled by 37% of Catholics, at the most (Shaw, 2014). It also helps
Catholics live by the ten commandments.
Community:
Community is a key factor in forming parishes around Australia, as mass brings
together the community. Leo and Margaret reinforced this statement The local
church is always the nicest to attend because you feel you are part of the
community, whereas when one attends elsewhere on an irregular basis you are

reasons for why she does it. She stated Jesus did say love thy neighbour and this is
one way we can demonstrate that. Also my mum was involved with a Catholic

Science And Technology Are On The Whole Good For The...
Science and technology are on the whole good for the environment People, viewing
themselves as a part of nature, can exist as a species only through consumption and
destruction of natural resources: even the energy and resources for nature protection
people receive by destroying its most important part the lithosphere. The development
of technological progress increased the negative impact on the environment, however,
in recent decades there have come certain positive changes in approach toward
qualitative improvement in environmental management with successful development
of waste free production, implementation of new technologies to reduce the amount
of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, improvement of soil health, enhancement
of crop quality parameters, and etc. Effective economic and legal mechanism is
capable of maintaining a proper measure of correlation between economy and ecology
at a reasonable level with lesser amounts of direct investments. To implement this
condition in the economic and legal mechanism of environmental regulation, it is
required to combine three basic functions: 1. To encourage the implementation of non
waste, environmentally clean technologies; 2. To create interest in carrying out
restoration and conservation measures; 3. To regulate the process of accommodation
of new and reconstruction of operating industrial objects under the conditions of rigid
environmental restrictions. (uvm.edu) Integration in economic and legal mechanism of
Sexual Rhetors In Response To The Tweeden Scandal
In 2006, Leeann Tweeden was a performer alongside Al Franken on a U.S.O tour
abroad. During transportation from one location to another, Ms. Tweeden fell
asleep, Mr. Franken took advantage of her sleeping state and took a picture with
his hands placed over her breasts. She was not made aware of the pictures
existence until she was back in America for quite some time. According to
Tweeden, Franken also forced himself on her while they were rehearsing. Tweeden
came forward after discussing her experience with Democrat Representative Jackie
Speier, a leading voice in ending sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. Sexual
misconduct among political leaders in our nation has long been a part of work life
on Capitol Hill (Fandos), especially in light of the prior conduct of our President, the
conversation surrounding this topic has never been more pressing. After examining
the rhetoricused by Al Franken and respective media groups in response to the
Tweeden Scandal, it can clearly be observed that the differing motivations of the
rhetors drastically shape the rhetoric produced even though the exigence and
audiences are the same.
Firstly, for rhetoric to be established, there must be something to which rhetors
respond. The event must be significant and present (for both the rhetor and audience),
so that the response envisioned by the rhetor can occur. The sexual misconduct of Al
Franken is both significant and present because it enters into the dialogue
surrounding the post Harvey
Characteristics Of The Wizard Of Oz
The cyclone had set the house down into a country of marvelous beauty. is merely
just the beginning of the tale of Dorothy traveling through a mysterious land,
making interesting friends, and eventually slaying an evil witch. The Wonderful
Wizard of Oz is an epic by L. Frank Baum is known by children and adults alike all
over. And what exactly makes this tale of a naive little girl an epic? The Wonderful
Wizard of Ozis an epic due to its characteristics, conventions, archetypes, and the way
it follows the stereotypical hero s journey.
Epic characteristics, conventions, and hero characteristics are what make up the epic,
The Wizard of Oz. An epic characteristic seen in the book is how broad the setting
is. Throughout Dorothy s time in Oz, she crosses many different lands that are all
unique in their own way; such as The Land of the East, Emerald City, The Land of
the West, and more. A common convention in epics seen in the Wizard of Oz is a
formal plea or an invocation for help being said by Dorothy. In the Wizard of Oz,
Dorothy pleads for either the Wizard or Galinda to take her back home to Kansas.
The hero undertaking a quest or journey is an epic hero characteristic seen in The
Wizard of Oz. In the book, Dorothy takes on a huge quest to defeat the Wicked Witch
so she can return home. Through epic characteristics, conventions, and hero
characteristics, the epic The Wizard of Oz follows the epic hero s journey.

Vanhelsing s Use Of Characterization In Dracula
Where there is evil, there is good in the darkest shadow. Van helsing as the antagonist
is the most threating adversary towards Count Dracula in the novel Dracula by Bram
Stoker. In many novels, the protagonist is the main character who is usually a hero
and the antagonist is the character who opposes them, however in this novel Dracula,
the protagonist is a demon from the pits of hell while the antagonist is the hero who
opposes the evil creature. Vanhelsing s role as the antagonist is seen through specific
events of conflict, characterization of both Dracula and Vanhelsing, and the theme of
where there is evil, good arises to fight.

Characterization is a method a writer uses to reveal the personality of a character
by what they do or says and what other says about them. Throughout the novel, we
see Dracula, a creature of the night perform many evil deeds such as biting victims
like Lucy and Maria, and control over violent creatures in nature. By these actions,
it reveals that Dracula is a evil monster, an emotionless killer and very mysterious.
On the other hand, VanHelsing actions such as trying to save Lucy from Dracula,
deep emotional care towards friends like Mina when she is losing hope after her
encounter with Dracula also reveals personality traits. By these actions, Vanhelsing
is seen to be caring and have a strong belief in religion having powers. This shows
how Vanhelsing is the most threating towards Dracula because both of their
personalities are the complete opposite. As Vanhelsing uses religious items due to
their powers over Dracula, Dracula perverts the way of Christianity and only causes
trouble for other people. This is how characterization of both Dracula and Vanhelsing
shows the professor is the largest threat to

symbol of fertility( Native American Deer Mythology ). All deer are born with
antlers, they grow from supporting structures called pedicles. When they are first
born the antlers are covered in nerves and blood vessels. Once they are adults, they
rub it off against trees(Bradford). In Mexican tribes, deers are associated with
traditional spirituality and considered the caretakers of the earth( Native American
Deer Mythology ). William Stafford moved to Oregon in 1948 with his family of

River stated in the poem is located in the Northern Oregon coast. William Stafford
taught at Lewis and Clark College located out in the country side of Oregon, which
has backroads and rivers. Stafford was the narrator of the poem and we can infer
that he was heading down one of these roads during a night after class ended. It was
tragic and a compelling story to be

The Criticism Of Spinoza
There have been numerous criticisms on Spinoza as well as plentiful interpretations.
A common label of Spinoza s philosophy is pantheism a doctrine defined by
Merriam Webster as equating God with the forces and laws of the universe. This is
understandable for on the surface, one may interpret Spinoza s Godas an equation with
the forces and the laws of the universe inasmuch as God is Deus sive natura where
natura is natura naturans. But a more accurate label had emerged: panentheism.
Panentheism, unlike pantheism, maintains a distinction between the divine and non
divine and the significance of both. In pantheism, there is no distinction between the
divine and the universe they are equal while in panentheism, the divine and the

The sub categories for these then will be as follows.
For theism, there are numerous sub categories: polytheism, pantheism, monotheism,
and finite godism . There are possibly more than these but these are the most
dominant. In all these beliefs, there is the existence of a God. It may refer to the
existence of only one God (like that of monotheism and pantheism) or many (like that
of polytheism and finite godism) simply put, there is a common denominator in these
beliefs and this is the existence of God.
For atheism, there are still sub categories but these sub categories may be better
referred to as classifications or degrees. In a lecture delivered by Alfredo P. Co
before the Graduate School of the Divine Word Seminary, three classifications of
atheism were given: philosophical, moral, and philosophical moral.
In the above excerpt, one may understand a philosophical atheist as a partial atheist
wherein the lifestyle and the philosophical orientation are not in harmony. The
atheism is only one side of the coin, and not the whole coin
Leading Culture Change at Seagram
NUS Business School, semester 2 2012/2013
Change Management
Leading Culture Change at Seagram
Why did Seagram need to Change? Why did it use a values based approach?
In the mid nineties, Seagram s core market, the spirits and wine business, had stalled.
At the same time its CEO, Edgar Bronfman Jr. (Bronfman) sold their 25% stake in the
chemical giant DuPont. This was the payment from when Seagram s in 1982 sold the
oil company
Conoco to DuPont. This stake in DuPont, by 1995, represented about 70% of
Seagram s total earnings. The income from the sale fueled a further diversification of
the company, but also a strengthening of its core business with purchases that gave
access to new markets. Bronfman had anticipated the need ... Show more content on

Seagram needed to change the very foundation of the mindset of both the existing
organization and the new companies bought to strengthen the core business.
Bronfman had already set the strategy and he knew he did not have the organizational
culture to reach it. In order to change the culture based on silo thinking, risk aversion,
hierarchy and limited communications over to respect, quality, teamwork, innovation
and customer focus he needed to fundamentally change the beliefs and values of the
people in the organization.. The best way to do that is to start with defining the
behaviors Seagram would most value.
How well has the change been accomplished?
Based on the information from the case, it is too early to say if the change has been
successful. However, Bronfman and the senior management have done a number of
actions in line with management theory to facilitate a future success of the cultural
change. First
Bronfman analyzed the business and identified the need for cultural change in line
with the new strategy of the company. He then set a stirring vision of being the best
managed beverage company . He took a personal hands on , visible involvement in
the process and everybody in the organization knew that the change had commitment
from the very top. I believe the act of selling the company that made the most profit
also can be viewed as an act of separating the past from the present. Doing this, he

Afghanistan Cold War Essay
Like many countries throughout the world, the America s involvement in
Afghanistan began during the Cold War. Communists in 1978 seized power under
the People s Democratic Party of Afghanistan, the PDPA, led by Nur Muhammad
Taraki. The PDPA attempted to impose secular reforms and land redistribution,
resulting in serious opposition. This opposition proved particularly forceful amongst
the country s religious leaders, who also represented a new wave Islamic revivalism
within the Muslim world. By 1979 the communists were loosing control and
President Carter authorized funding for covert action in the form of medical aid and
propaganda for the opposition. In response the Soviets stepped up their presence and
contributions to the communists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these groups were based on complex ethnic ties and territories throughout
Afghanistan, which repeatedly failed to coalesce under a single national authority.
Scholar Kamal Matinuddin explains that because of the tribal nature of Afghan
society, the country was incapable of delivering a charismatic leader who, as an
accepted political figure and as the head of a national army, would command the
respect of all anti communist elements in the Afghanistan. Eventually these factions
reached an agreement under the Peshawar Accord, which established an interim
government, the Islamic State of Afghanistan and included Ahmad Shah Massoud.
However, there was one exception:

South Korea has demonstrated great economic growth over recent decades,
developing from one of the poorer countries of Asia to a high tech industrialized
economy. Currently, with a GDP per capita of USD$33,200, South Korea boasts the
12th largest economy in the world (Central Intelligence Agency, 2014). In turn, a high
disposable income per capita has allowed for South Koreans to favor the consumption
of meat. This is evident
Use Of Similes In Dante s Inferno
IV Author s use of Language/ Literary Devices:
Personification: Dante s twist on personification is evident throughout his work, as
it was extremely common in this era. Within the first Canto we can already imagine
the words vividly, Upward I looked, and I beheld its shoulders Vested already with
that planet s rays Which leadeth others right by every road. In this example Dante is
actually speaking about a mountain s foot, which he has just stumbled upon. When
he says vested already with the planet s rays, he is referring to the sun s light.
Archetypes: Dante uses archetypes* when he is explaining the different circles.
*An archetype is a typical example of a certain person or thing. EX
Similes: Dante s Inferno is overflowing with similes, such as the blood that flows
from the snapped twig in the suicide woods is an example, it compares the normal
sap to the thickness of blood.
Homeric Similes: Dante s use of epic, or homeric similes are much more common
among his written work in the Inferno. Since he likes to add lots of details that
elongate his sentences, they aren t hard to find in the book. As chanting cranes will
form a line in the air, so I saw souls come uttering cries (V.39). This simile juxtaposes
the souls of Hell crying in agony to chanting cranes, as they are both protesting
something in their own way.
Epithet: Dante often uses epithets to provide the reader with definitive descriptions
of characters or the setting. Great connoisseur of sin (V.37). This text alludes to
Minos, the king of Crete, who constructed a beast called the Minotaur, who assailed
people in the Labyrinth.
Imagery: Imagery is an important theme through Dante s Inferno that Dante uses
frequently to give us images to describe ..my guide, Embraced my neck and kissed
me on the face.. (VIII.40 41). The imagery used in these lines provide an image of
how Virgil treats Dante.
V Motif to Develop Theme:
In Dante s Inferno the recurring theme in the literary work is the punishment of sins,
and the severity that the people in hell suffer as a consequence. Pierro delle Vigne
explains the actions of that which: led him to hell, suicide, and how it condemned
him to eternity in hell as a tree trunk. He confesses, My
The Media Of The Super Bowl
When most people think of Super Bowl commercials, they think of funny skits
about Budweiser, Cool Ranch Doritos, or big Chevy trucks; all up beat, innocent,
and funny commercials, right? Well not all ads aired during the Super Bowl have
been known to be as up beat and sensible. In 2011, the Super Bowl aired a
commercial made by an online coupon site many of you are probably familiar with
called Groupon. This controversial ad is titled Save the Money Tibet and was
meant for their buyers to do just that, save money. Although Groupon is all about
saving people money, that s not the only message the ad was supposed to convey
to its viewers. Although controversial, this ad has a bigger story behind it that
Groupon later shared after getting a large amount of hate due to the lack of
misunderstanding from their viewers. To sum up the commercial, it starts off with
different clips of people in Tibet with a sort of chilling music playing in the
background. A male voice then comes in and says, one of the most beautiful places
in the world. This is timothy Hutton. The people of Tibet are in trouble, their very
culture in jeopardy . The whole dynamic of the commercial then changes when
Timothy Hutton says, but they still whip up an amazing fish curry as a Tibet male
proceeds to serve him a fish curry dish in a Chicago restaurant all thanks to his
purchase of an online coupon from Groupon. While the purpose of this three million
dollar ad seemed to be to promote saving money by
The Myth Of A Latin Woman Analysis
Stereotypes are everywhere, and there is no doubt that everyone has encountered
them several times in their lives. In fact, everyone uses them all the time without
knowing it. Stereotypes are overly simplified and fixed images in someone s mind
about a person s race, gender, or religion, or just about anything. They appear in our
daily lives so often that we do not realize its presence all the time, considering them
as a part of our normal environment. That includes the media, families, workplaces,
and even schools. Unfortunately, certain races and genderroles in society tend to get
more exposed to harsh stereotypes, such as Latinas who are believed to only
understand sexual innuendo based on their attire and seen as lesser educated
menials. In The Myth of a Latin Woman: I Just Met a Girl Named MarГa , by Judith
Ortiz Cofer, the author uses anecdotes and pathos to show how Americans hold
stereotypes about others of different races. Ultimately, Cofer targets people with
ethnocentric mindsets who associate Latinas like herself to negative cultural
stereotypes. First, the author uses anecdotes in her essay to reveal how Americans
hold negative cultural stereotypes about Latinas based on their striking attire,
assuming that all they understood was sexual innuendo. For instance, Cofer recalls
having difficulties finding a decent outfit when students in her high school were
asked to dress up as if they were going to a job interview on Career Day. A few years
later, her friend

Next, I stated the null (H0) and the alternative (H1) hypothesis for this data.
Hypothesis testing involves the careful construction of two statements: the null and
alternative. The null hypothesis holds that there will be no observed effect in our

Tonalin Cla Research Paper
To understand the true benefits of Tonalin CLA, we must also unlock the
mysteries behind CLA itself. To do this, we have gathered below some of the most
common questions asked about using Tonalin CLA as a CLA supplement. 1.
What is CLA? CLA stands for conjugated linoleic acid . It is a fatty acid known for
promoting good health. This was first identified by Dr. Michael Pariza in 1978
while he was studying beef extract as a cancer prevention. What he found instead
provoked a surge of research and scientific studies into the benefits of CLA as a fat
reducer. After looking at decades of research scientists have found that CLA may in
fact help the body to deposit less fat, build more muscle and may even help prevent
fat cells from refilling.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is actually found in some of the foods we eat. Dairy and beef products are one of
the biggest natural sources of CLA. However, diets have changed over the years
and on the whole, we are naturally consuming much less CLA than we used to.
Because of this, many are looking to CLA supplement their diets. This is easy to
do now that scientists have developed a proprietary process which can convert the
linoleic acid of pure safflower oil into CLA. This makes it easy to add a CLA
supplement into your diet by taking the recommended daily dose either in capsule or
liquid form. 4. What is Tonalin CLA? Tonalin CLA has been clinically tested and is
said to be the most researched, highest quality CLA supplement as well as the most
effective for both health and dietary benefits. It does not contain any natural or
artificial stimulants. Nor does it contain any natural or artificial ephedra. These
factors and more have made Tonalin CLA an ever increasingly popular CLA
supplement within the weight loss industry. As with any dietary supplement however,
including Tonalin CLA, you should always consult your physician first and follow
the manufacturer s instructions for taking the recommended daily dose. 5. Are there
any side effects of Tonalin
Aristotle Number Two
Number Two is the number of Plurality. Duality (or divisional plurality). Dualism,
from the Latin word duo, which means two and it denotes a condition or a state of
two parts. With Unity there is one word, one original, and one only essence, but it
severs itself into two properties; two actions which are a kind of binary opposition
where two related terms or concepts, which form a pair, are in opposition of their
meaning toward one another. Therefore, we see in Nature, two opposites strictly
defined as a contrasting pair, one against the other, such as: joy and sorrow, lightand
darkness, day and night, male and female, mortal and immortal, life and death, spirit
and flesh. Both, as contasting elements, together producing all things. Thus from the

Literally translated as a change of substantia or substance. It is a term used to
represent the change of essential properties of an object or being. Aristotle observed:
one and the selfsame substance, while retaining its identity, is yet capable of
admitting contrary qualities. The same individual person is at one time light, at
another dark, at one time warm, at another cold, at one time good, at another bad.
This capacity is found nowhere else... it is the peculiar mark of substance that it
should be capable of admitting contrary qualities; for it is by itself changing that it
does so . Within every independent entity lies a part of its opposite. Aristotle
described four types of qualitative opposites:
correlatives, a concept or a word that has a mutual relationship with another concept
or word. contraries, and antithesis, the opposite or the reverse of a concept or word.

which law one needs to follow. There a saying, The mountains are high, and the

The Pros And Cons Of Super Bowl Commercials
On Sunday, Feb. 4, fans and viewers alike watch Super Bowl commercials on TV
screens because they are creative and entertaining; not to mention, they bring a lot
of money. The Super Bowl is known for the football game itself as it will
ultimately lead to the new NFL champion of the year; however, it is also known
for its humor driven commercials. It can now be said that these commercials have
become a big part in Super Bowls as each and everyone of them compete for the
viewer s attention. Viewers vote for their favorite and least favorite commercials and
advertisers make an effort to make successful ads, giving considerable large amounts
of money to make this possible. Out of the multitude of commercials, viewers were
able to choose their favorites ads, based on their uniqueness and creativity. The

While Amazon s commercial grabbed the viewers attention positively and with
much humor, RAM s was received unfavorably. Pete Blackburn, a CBS Sports
writer articulated, Ram Trucks ad featuring a Martin Luther King voiceover about
the value of service was the most criticized spot of the night. Many people felt that
it was a blatant commercial exploitation of the Civil Rights icon and given the
current political and social climates in America that it was in poor taste. This
particular commercial gained much controversy, due to how they used Martin
Luther King s words from the speech The Drum Major Instinct, to sell RAM trucks.
People viewed it as a sign of disrespect to the American activist and declared the
commercial was of poor taste. RAM was authorized and licensed by Martin Luther
King Jr. s estate yet, it is believed that King would not have supported the idea. Next
time Super Bowl ads decide to use quotes from a respected figure, they should
remember the controversy caused by Ram s
Examples Of Heroism In The Right Stuff By Tom Wolfe
Righteousness in the Public Eye American heroes are typically held to near
impossible standards. They are expected to be not only valiant and daring, but also
have a strong sense of morals. There is much more to being a hero than simply
putting your life at risk, but being a mediocre member of society still does not meet
the requirements. Many question if these idols were born with the characteristics of
the typical leading man or if they were taught. In The Right Stuff Tom Wolfe
portrays the concept of heroism as discouraging and severely distorted in the eyes of
the public. Tom Wolfe suggests that the heroes that people often admire aren t
always as praiseworthy as they appear. In the novel, page 111 states Americans seem

  • 2. Importance Of Sportsmanship In Sports The two things that most attract me to Wellesley are the Chandler Pool and the Lulu Campus Center. Sportsmanship is one of my defining characteristics. Having been swimming for the past three years, the eight lane professional Chandler Pool at Wellesley attracts me deeply. Swimming has both strengthened my perseverance and given me the spirit of collaboration and sportsmanship. I enjoy the feeling of racing in the water, pushing myself to the finish line. Swimming has given my body power, developed my deep thinking skills, and, most importantly, made me into a leader. As the captain of the swimming team at my high school, I have had tough moments leading the team, because most of my teammates are more senior than I and I am also an international student. But a loud voice without any action won t win over team members. I changed the situation by working harder and improving my communication skills. I practice longer hours than any other team member., and became the fastest one in the team, although I am not the most physically fit. I volunteered to swim the 500 yards freestyle and fought for my team to make the state meet. I constantly practice my communication skills and improve my English. Instead of giving direct orders to team members, I help and care for my team members. During my two week medical leave, although my doctor advised me to stay at home and rest, I went to the swimming pool, helping the coach keep time, cheering for my team and handing them water and towels.

  • 4. Women Leaving Her Husband Analysis Butler explains to her readers the ample reasons why wives of the medieval time period would decide to leave their husbands. In fact, on page 338 of her article, Butler writes, The goal of this paper is to provide a more comprehensive perspective of husband desertion, including the risks involved in deserting one s husband, the wife s motivations, and the logistics of desertion (Butler 338). She begins her article with some background information in hopes to enlighten her readers that at this point in history, men had all the power in any marriage. Following the brief history of the misogyny found in medieval marriages, Butler uses the rest of her article to explain to her readers the trials and tribulations these wives had to go through, the risk of others knowing she wanted to leave, and what made the wives want to leave at all. Butler first chooses to explain what the risks were when a wife left her husband during the medieval era. Due to the misogyny found in medieval marriages, if a womandecided to leave her husband, she had to be well aware of the consequences that would follow. For instance, Butler points out to her audience that if a woman decided to leave her husband, then must live with the label of adulteress. This label guarantees that this woman would never be able to claim any inheritance in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dugan writes, Analyzing representations of scent as a dramatic trope within two distinct theatrical atmospheres late medieval civic drama and early modern professional theaters I argue that olfaction was a key component of both stages, particularly as a tool to enact invisible and social differences (Dugan 230). Simply put, Dugan wants to explore how the scent of a woman impacts performing arts during the medieval
  • 5. A Theme of the Opera in Bel Canto by Ann Patchett Bel Canto by Ann Patchett The theme of the novel draws its most core intensities from the art of opera. Patchett fantastically utilizes the language and the pathos of music for the examination of jungle born revolutionaries and the international hostages. This novel reflects our extraordinary aptitude to structure emotional associations in improbable and shaky ways. Manette Ansay, author of Midnight Champagne says: Let me put this plainly: Ann Patchetthas written the best book I have read in a long, long time. Bel Canto is a masterpiece to its title, a beautiful song, and a broad, bold entirely original love story destined to become an international classic. This is the book we all wait for, the one we thrust into the hands of friends, saying, You ve got to read this! You ve got to read this now! According to The New York Times Book Review: Expect miracles when you read Ann Patchett s fiction. The plot captures the attention right from the opening. The action begins with the very first sentence of the novelas the lights drop out during a party at the mansion of the vice president of a poor revolution torn South American country and suddenly a band of terrorists flood in the room from the upstairs, from behind curtains, through the doors, and even from inside the heating vents. Terrorists were aimed at kidnapping the country s president, but their ambition and the whole strategy is hindered when they discovered that he was not among the guests. The
  • 6. The Marketing Environment For REI The marketing environment for REI is immensely complicated. While some aspects of marketing, including price, promotion, product and place is within the company s controls, other external factors are not. Factors external to REI s control include local and global economic factors, legal and regulatory forces, socio cultural trends, and technology. Major elements of the U.S. economy affecting REI s retail operations include consumer confidence, interest rates, and inflation. All three elements either stimulate or depress consumer spending. Low consumer confidence, high interest rates, or rising inflaction, place pressure on companies to lower prices, which has a negative impact on sales margins. The economic performance of global markets as well as geo political influences directly affects U.S. consumer sentiment and suppresses consumer spending. Current examples include the economic instability in Greece and China. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... based company, REI is required to adhere to all U.S. laws and regulations. This includes financial laws and regulations, including local, state, and federal tax laws, and federal trade laws. Furthermore, REI is required to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, which prevents workplace discrimination and guarantees equal opportunities for disabled workers. The incredible pace of technological advancement is a challenge for all companies. In recent years, the greatest growth was seen in mobile devices, which challenges companies, like REI, to keep up with consumer demands. With mobile devices, customers want to interact with companies on their terms. Companies, like REI, can respond by offering personalized marketing directed at users of mobile devices. Mobile devices are also leading the charge for new payment methods, NFC enabled devices and mobile
  • 7. Elastic Collisions In A Cue Ball In a pool game, the physics are the determining factor to almost every game. The balls must go into each pocket at the long edges of the pool table by letting the cue ball hit it. After it is hit, it heads into a specific direction based off the momentum, mass, and angle of the hit. This experiment will showcase the results of multiple collisions on two objects of equal mass. A certain physics equation, called elastic collision, demonstrates this mathematically. Elastic collision, given by 1/2mvc^2 = 1/2mva^2 + 1/2mvb^2, only applies if the momentum and kinetic energy of the objects colliding are conserved. Once the masses cancel, the equation is simplified to a familiar equation: the Pythagorean theorem, also known as a^2 + b^2 = c^2 (Real World Physics 1).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this is taking into account the conversation of kinetic energy and momentum. These two laws state that kinetic energy and momentum will be constant when it transfers from one object to another. Inelastic collision describes the collision between two objects that generally lose their energy, a more common collision since a little energy is almost always lost during any sort of action. By the well known law of the conservation of energy, none of this energy is destroyed. It is just lost as the cue ball continues to travel, making the transfer of energy less efficient. This experiment will be focusing on the collision of smooth spheres without friction being a major variable in the experiment due to how pool balls are made, conserving the momentum for the most part (Hyperphysics

  • 10. Essay Fucus Sprial Research on Water Coal is found in deeper layers of earth. To retrieve coal from those layers, underground tunnels need to build. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean (Wilkinson 2011, 3). Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). In case of the project, this happens through the outfall which is right above high water spring tide. The water that is released through the outfall is not as clean as the actively ... The gravitational attractions act in opposition and the tidal amplitude is very low. 7.4 Rocky shore These shores were shaped by different natural forces. Those forces include the rise and fall of tides, wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist of rocky ledges, boulders and pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be found. Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The zones vary in diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone (Little 2009, 17). The top of the shore is bare rock and living organisms such as littorinid snails or lichens can be found there. This zone is called splash zone as it above high tide mark and therefore perpetually out of water (Little 2009, 18). The second zone is called littoral zone (or intertidal) and has its boundaries defined as distance between very highest and very lowest spring tide. The lower, middle and upper shore are included into this zone and there is a varying degree of exposure to seawater, depending on the tide. Organisms living there must be able to cope with fluctuating air and breaking waves. Rock pools and Fucus spiralis are found in this part of the rocky shore (Little 2009, 18). The lowest zone is the so called sublittorial zone and

  • 12. The Character of Chillingworth in The Scarlet Letter Essay The Character of Chillingworth in The Scarlet Letter Old Mr. Prynne began his new life in the town of Boston as the Physician Roger Chillingworth. The moment he arrived, the town deemed him intelligent and mild mannered; he always seemed pleasant although a little odd. Throughout the seven years he remained in Boston, his character changed so dramatically from admirable to evil that even those who did not know him personally seemed to notice an evil nature deep within his soul trying to break free. Chillingworth stood with Hester Prynne within the confines of the prison, talking with her about how he would go about finding her lover. He says to her,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hester looked at the man of skill, and even then, with her fate hanging on the balance, was startled to perceive what a change had come over his features, how much uglier they were, how his dark complexion seemed to have grown duskier, and his figure more misshapen... (Pg.103). Hester is not the only person to notice the change in Chillingworth; many of the townspeople recognize the changes in him as well, At first his expression had been calm, meditative, scholar like. Now there was something ugly and evil in his face, which they had not previously noticed, and which still grew more obvious to sight the oftener they looked upon him (Pg. 117). Slowly but surely Roger Chillingworth is changing from a man with normal interests, to a man with an evil obsession; every day he is getting closer and closer to the dark side. Later on during the story while Hester and Chillingworth are in the woods talking about Dimmesdale, Hester shouts at Chillingworth, You search his thoughts. You burrow and rankle in his heart! Your clutch is on his life and you cause him to die daily a living death! (Pg. 156) Hester knows Chillingworth has more evil in his blood than ever before in his life; he feeds off the pain he causes Dimmesdale and enjoys every minute of it. Chillingworth doesn t realize in the slightest how much more evil flows through his veins now, than did before in his life. It

  • 15. The Effect Of Biofeedback On Basketball Players And Effect... 2. Background Information This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on their on court performance. Athletes need to have the capability to modify, learn, and correct their muscle memory. Enhancing an athlete s performance depends on the ability for the central and peripheral nervous systems to communicate in response to an active stimulus. This study has some variables measured including the reaction time: the time between the stimulus and a bodily movement; the movement time: the time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement; and the response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been previous studies that look at the use of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMG BFB) and Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations between improvement in performance and responsiveness to stimuli. However, there has not been an analysis of the use of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB) which measures an increase in the response time and attention deficit in athletes. The most important aspect of an athlete s performance is the ability to tune out outside disturbances during a game or match. If an athlete can master that skill, then they can perform at their optimum output. Having the ability to enhance their techniques is important for achievement in sports, especially in basketball, where there are a multitude of offensive and defensive skills. Most notably,
  • 16. The Second Amendment To The Constitution And The First... ]The constitution, it is quite possibly the largest piece of the puzzle that makes America what it is. This document allows the American people to be who they are. The constitution and its amendments outline the rules that are to be followed by and the rights that are given to the people and the government. The first amendment to the constitution is one that never seems to be debated itself, but its interpretation is often times debated. In saying this I mean that most everyone agrees that people should have the right to free speech, but what is often debated is where to draw the line. The question is, what is the difference is between someone using their right to free speech and them spewing hate speech. The first amendment is quite possibly the most important to maintaining our form government. It allows us, the people to have a say and speak on political topics among other things. The full first amendment, which was officially put into place alongside the second amendment in 1791, is made up of, for the most part, two basic points. It touches on religion and preventing freedom of speech or press Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The first of these points that touches on religion was first formed based upon one of the main reasons that

  • 18. A Simplified Approach On Dynamic Response A Simplified Approach on Dynamic Response of Tall Buildings due to Wind loads Abstract: In this paper, a simplified approach on dynamic response of tall buildings due to turbulent wind load is proposed to get a proper modification factor used in equivalent static wind load method. The approach undertakes the investigation of turbulent wind loads on high rise buildings in one of the frequency domain analysis to get Peak Dynamic Response (PDR). This simplified method is developed by using the Power Spectral Density Analysis in Sap 2000. The turbulent wind spectrum, aerodynamic admittance and vertical coherence for buffeting wind loading are estimated using Kaimal spectrum, empirical relationship proposed by Vickery and Spatial Coherence of Davenport . The building models conditions are documented as a data bank. Then, the proposed design method is introduced by using design data bank. Then, the method is analyzed by the case studies with respect to various wind speed and height of storeys. By introducing this proposed method at the initial stage of analysis and design, less controlled parameters in analysis and computational effort in specified regions than standard procedures can be obtained. Key Words: Simplified Approach, Modification Factor, Peak Dynamic Response (PDR), Power Spectral Density Analysis, and Buffeting Wind Loading Introduction: Wind is caused by differences in pressure. When a difference in pressure exists, the air is accelerated from higher to lower
  • 19. Changes in Policy after School Shootings Policies have changed since the shooting happened in Littleton, Colorado. Before Columbine the primary goal of law enforcement officers before and during a shooting was to set up a perimeter and await arrival of SWAT members (Erickson, 2001). This policy has changed in many states including Pennsylvania where police had been preparing for active shooters with local schools. Police are not able to wait the twenty minutes to an hour for SWAT to arrive at a scene which is why the state mandated that local police receive active shooting training (Coughlin, 2012). This response and a brochure that the Department of Homeland Security came out with are allowing schools a better chance of eliminating a shooter with less causalities and injuries. This brochure goes into to profile of an active shooter, how to respond to an active shooter, how to respond when law enforcement arrives, training staff for an active shooter, preparing for and managing an active shooter situation, recognizing workplace violence, managing the consequences of an active shooter, and lessons learned (DHS, 2008). Recommendations were made following the shooting to implement a command center with personnel able to take command at the beginning of a crisis, control assembled personnel, and to communicate objectives clearly (Erickson, 2001). This came after the failure of law enforcement to set up a successful command center whereas Fire and EMS successfully instituted an incident command center based on

Cabbage Root Fly Biological Control of Cabbage Root Fly Introduction Biological control involves the use of living natural enemies to lower the population of a particular pest species (Eilenberg et al. 2001). These natural enemies are called biological control agents and can include viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasitoids, predators or competitors. Biological control is an application of density dependence and population regulation and is one aspect of integrated pest management. After the discovery of synthetic chemicals as controls, research into biological controls received little attention; however it is currently gaining popularity. This is due to its many advantages over other control methods, such as synthetic pesticides, and its few disadvantages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once implemented, the long term economic costs of biological control will often be lower than alternative synthetic chemical controls because pesticides require repeated application for ongoing efficacy. Biological control agents often exhibit high target specificity, unlike pesticides which often result in non target organisms being affected. Pesticides can bioaccumulate and biomagnify in the food chain and the chemicals can leach through the soil negatively affecting other organisms. Biological controls will continually target the pest while not affecting other potentially beneficial coexisting organisms. Unlike chemical controls, biological controls are self perpetuating, and the pests upon which they are acting usually do not develop a resistance, or are slow to develop a resistance. With proper research and understanding, the natural occurrence of biological controls can make their use safer to humans and other organisms than that of synthetic
  • 21. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Psychodynamic Approach To... While psychodynamic and behavioural approaches are the two major approaches to personality, they view personality from different perspective. Psychodynamic approach argues personality is caused by forces in the unconscious but not learnt. Individuals have little control over their behaviour as it is predetermined, and early childhood plays a crucial part in shaping one s personality. Behavioural approach, on the other hand, recognizes personality as learnt and focuses only on present behaviour matters. Given the differences, it has been argued whether, in terms of scientific merit, psychodynamic or behavioural approach is more comprehensive. The strengths of psychodynamic approach are consideration of childhood experiences and recognition of the unconscious part. On the contrary, behavioural approach focuses on behaviour that can be scientifically measured and verified, and recognizes the importance of external environment on personality. From the above arguments, it is finally concluded, in term of methodology and testability, behavioural approach is more comprehensive. Introduction The scientific merit of psychodynamic and behavioural approaches to personality is quite different in terms of supporting whether personality is largely inborn or learnt. The term scientific merit here is defined as the methodology employed and testability of the approaches. On one hand, it has been argued psychodynamic approach relies too heavily on unconscious mind whose existence is hard

The first proper castles were built in England after the Norman Conquest in 1066. Wooden motte and bailey castles were the first type of castle to be built in England. The tower of the keepwas built a huge mound called a motte and had an enclosed courtyard called a bailey. It would have been very difficult to get up the sides of the motte because they were so steep. A ditch dug around the bottom of the motte also added protection. The bailey was located at the bottom of the motte and could be up to three acres. Followers of the lord who ran the castlelived inside the bailey. There were many buildings in the bailey including bakeries, kitchens, houses, stables, and living quarters for soldiers. Motte and bailey castles were quick and easy to build. There a lot of positive sides to using ethanol but there an also a few negative things it can produce when used or even made. Which in turn could be used to feed starving people all over the world. Using corn, barley, and wheat hinders food availability and even the prices of the food. The new York times has stated that using ethanol actually decreases gas mileage. Ethanol gives you 2 3 miles less than normal gasoline (West, 2014). Ethanol can also break down faster than normal gasoline. Meaning that ethanol can cause rust of the car engine. Making ethanol can actually pollute the air a bunch because of all the gasoline it requires to power the tractors and machines that gather the required material to make it. Ethanol has negative impacts on our environment but overall it has more positives then negatives and makes a good alternative fuel. Natural Gas is another alternative fuel option that has a bunch of positive sides to it. Using natural gas produces lower negative emissions that pollute the air. Natural gas produces less smog then your normal gasoline that everyone uses. Natural gas is helping America as a nation to use clean environmental friendly energy sources. The Theme Of God In Design, By Robert Frost The subject of Robert Frost s Design is simply about life and death, but the theme here is touching upon the question of God s role in the design of nature and the world around us. The poem is more on the dark side from the way he describes the main characters the white spider, the heal all flower, and the moth and the way he starts to questionwhy everything went the way it did. Was it just a random occurrence or does God actually make terrible things, like the spider killing the moth on a flower, happen? To begin with, the speaker starts off the poem by introducing the main characters. There is a spider, described as whiteand fat, then there is the heal all which is basically a flower that is used for medicinal purposes. And last but not least, the moth, who which flutters his way into his death. The big white spider is perched up on the white flower, holding the moth as if they purposely all gathered together for a witches brew. With this observation, the speaker constructs a series of questions: why is the flower, that is usually blue, now white? Why did the spider decide on that specific flower instead of any other one? And why did the moth happen to fly by at that certain moment? In the last line, Frost asks the question of if this how God designed the world to be. The speaker is Robert Frost himself, just a bystander in the distance that so happens to stumble upon this scene and observes it enough to write about it. The poem reveals what he now thinks

Research shows cognitive affective processes help to develop intersubjectivity (Tronick Cohn, 1989). Similarly, in psychotherapeutic relationships, cognitive affective processes are the building blocks to the therapeutic alliance. A psychotherapeutic alliance constitutes the shared client psychotherapist relationship marked by mutual respect, caring and shared understanding of therapeutic goals. If intersubjectivityis nurtured in the client psychotherapist relationship, this can lead to increased mutual understanding and goal achievement (as defined by the client) in psychotherapy. In order to show that psychotherapeutic alliances can be fortified by applying intersubjectivity to psychotherapeutic relationships, this paper is divided into four parts. Another failure in welfare reform is clear in the welfare to work reform that was enacted in 1996. It has fallen short in regards to what it set out to accomplish. This reform was intended to discourage everyone but the very ill or disabled from leading a life on benefits. Although, great in theory, it has failed to move many from the welfare system to the work force, and has two major stumbling blocks. The first one is very clear, the jobs just aren t there. With the worsening economy and so many people losing their employment, the job market is flooded with people trying to find jobs. Many businesses have been forced to close which has contributed to less job openings. Without jobs for people to move into they continue to rely on welfare for their existence. The second problem with the welfare to work reform is that the jobs that can be obtained aren t what they were in the past. Many jobs today are temporary, part time, or have uncertain hours. Leaving the security of benefits for jobs like these can be related to stepping out on cracking ice, and not many people are willing to take this step. Unless these problems are dealt with, the welfare to work reform will continue to be unsuccessful in helping people gain employment and they will continue to cling to benefits for support. Welfare reform has failed miserably in its attempt to address the crisis of illegitimacy, therefore requiring more and more funding for assistance

Use Of Similes In Dante s Inferno IV Author s use of Language/ Literary Devices: Personification: Dante s twist on personification is evident throughout his work, as it was extremely common in this era. Within the first Canto we can already imagine the words vividly, Upward I looked, and I beheld its shoulders Vested already with that planet s rays Which leadeth others right by every road. In this example Dante is actually speaking about a mountain s foot, which he has just stumbled upon. When he says vested already with the planet s rays, he is referring to the sun s light. Archetypes: Dante uses archetypes* when he is explaining the different circles. *An archetype is a typical example of a certain person or thing. EX Similes: Dante s Inferno is overflowing with similes, such as the blood that flows from the snapped twig in the suicide woods is an example, it compares the normal sap to the thickness of blood. Homeric Similes: Dante s use of epic, or homeric similes are much more common among his written work in the Inferno. Since he likes to add lots of details that elongate his sentences, they aren t hard to find in the book. As chanting cranes will form a line in the air, so I saw souls come uttering cries (V.39). This simile juxtaposes the souls of Hell crying in agony to chanting cranes, as they are both protesting something in their own way. Epithet: Dante often uses epithets to provide the reader with definitive descriptions of characters or the setting. Great connoisseur of sin (V.37). This text alludes to Minos, the king of Crete, who constructed a beast called the Minotaur, who assailed people in the Labyrinth. Imagery: Imagery is an important theme through Dante s Inferno that Dante uses frequently to give us images to describe ..my guide, Embraced my neck and kissed me on the face.. (VIII.40 41). The imagery used in these lines provide an image of how Virgil treats Dante. V Motif to Develop Theme: In Dante s Inferno the recurring theme in the literary work is the punishment of sins, and the severity that the people in hell suffer as a consequence. Pierro delle Vigne explains the actions of that which: led him to hell, suicide, and how it condemned him to eternity in hell as a tree trunk. He confesses, My

In fact, everyone uses them all the time without knowing it. Stereotypes are overly simplified and fixed images in someone s mind about a person s race, gender, or religion, or just about anything. They appear in our daily lives so often that we do not realize its presence all the time, considering them as a part of our normal environment. That includes the media, families, workplaces, and even schools. Unfortunately, certain races and genderroles in society tend to get more exposed to harsh stereotypes, such as Latinas who are believed to only understand sexual innuendo based on their attire and seen as lesser educated menials. It is a fatty acid known for promoting good health. This was first identified by Dr. Michael Pariza in 1978 while he was studying beef extract as a cancer prevention. What he found instead provoked a surge of research and scientific studies into the benefits of CLA as a fat reducer. However, diets have changed over the years and on the whole, we are naturally consuming much less CLA than we used to. Because of this, many are looking to CLA supplement their diets. This is easy to do now that scientists have developed a proprietary process which can convert the linoleic acid of pure safflower oil into CLA.
