Identity In Fantomina
How can you know who you really are if you are confined to a certain few social structures of
identity? A woman may be smarter, be able to do what a man can do, but everything from a job,
consisting of nannies to maids, or to her own sexuality, staying chaste till marriage, is under sharp
scrutiny. Sexuality is a hallmark theme of many novels even in the 18th century. Whether it be the
main plot of a story or one of the various subplots. In the stories Roxana and Fantomina the main
characters identities seem to be in control by using their sexuality to their own ends. These women
go nameless in their own stories, so do they truly stay within the confines of their sex of the 18th
century? Being nameless and going by an assumed identity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like Roxana she is using her sexuality and freedom to gain what she wants from life. Unlike
Roxana Fantomina s freedom is fleeting and only comes from lack of supervision. She was
intrigued by the freedom and sexuality showed of the prostitutes at the play house. the greater
was her Wonder, that Men, some of whom she knew were accounted to have Wit, should have
Tastes so very depraved. This excited a Curiosity in her to know in what Manner these Creatures
were address d. This leads to her descent into sexuality itself, which is more then she bargained
for, she had just wanted the attention of men falling all over themselves to talk to her.
Fantomina is a lady of high standing, and men followed the rules and protocols to woo a lady
but not a prostitute. She depended on the strength of her virtue, to bear her safe thro trials more
dangerous than she apprehended this to be, and never having been addressed by him as a lady
was resolved to receive his devoirs as a town mistress, imagining a world of satisfaction to
herself in engaging him in the character of such a one, and in observing the surprise he would
be in to find himself refused by a woman who he supposed granted her favors without exception.
This passage shows that she never meant to give into sexual activity with him, also making it
clear that she is a woman who planned on protecting her chastity and virtue. This makes
Fantomina more sympathetic to the readers, who would judge a woman for giving into sexual
desires. The story however shows how even a high class lady who is expected to be able to
maintain her self control can be seduced by the idea of pleasure and freedom. An escape from her
restrictive identity. She had gone too far to retreat he was bold, he was resolute, she fearful
confused altogether unprepared to resist in such encounters. She was successful in seducing

Practical Constraints Over sixty artworks are from the David Roberts Collection including some
never seen before works, such as work by Caroline Achaintre, Roy Lichtenstein (nude in the
Woods, 1980, it was noted to me whilst on the guided tour that this was a rare woodcut by the
artist) and James Rosenquist. There are also commissions by artists such as murals by Allison
Katz, flower arrangements and video pieces by Luiz Roque and also loans from the designers
Claude and Francois Xavier Lalanne. Funding came from the David Roberts Art Fund and they
had a large collection of works to choose from. They had to be careful about security for the more

A key term used when describing the exhibition space is mise en scГЁne . Mise en scГЁne is an
expression used to describe the design aspects of a theatre or film production, which means
visual theme or perhaps more pertinently telling a story both in visually artful ways through
storyboarding, cinematography and stage design, and in poetically artful ways through
direction. It is also commonly used to refer to multiple single scenes within the film to represent
the film. This is particularly the case in this show as each room has a different look and feel like
one would experience in a theatre; for example the Main Stage has a very different look and feel
that the Backstage area. The Main Stage is particularly evocative of the shows aims and
provides a centre point for the show especially the main stage itself which has been constructed
especially for this show and painted green. Emily Young s Archangel I 2004 (see figure 1) made

one enters from the bar. This sculpture, which weighs one tonne , had clearly exercised difficulties

My Dream Life
I vividly recall being asked what my dream job was on a sunny day during our physical
education class in third grade. The first thing that flashed through my mind was architecture as I
observed my surroundings, feeling a sense of belonging and deficiency. I ve always been keen
towards drawing and painting. I have an incline to attribute my surroundings, the world, through a
tale; a tale behind every landscape, edifice, and object. I don t perceive a building as a
background for a setting made of cold concrete and steel, instead, I see the marvelous architecture
as a living character that provides the base of a story. A base that influenced my upbringing when I
lived in my hometown Honduras and later the United States. Up to the presenttimewhen I lived in
Honduras, the structure of our home was surrounded by nature; the everlasting scent of the
flowers in the garden as birds flew by became habitual. Seating on the porch, I would draw on the
white surface as my hands would rhythmically move to the symphonies my mom would play on
the radio like Love s Joy by Fritz Kreisler. In due time, it was time for us to leave everything
behind in search of a new beginning. Our first residence in the United States drastically changed
from what my child self was used to. We lived in a small apartment in Collins Ave where the
structural space of the buildings seemed crowded. I felt foreign, missing the scent of home and
natures labyrinth. Fritz Kreisler s Love Joy soon became Love s Sorrow as I took small steps to
accommodate myself to our new surroundings, our new architectural landscape. Whenever I felt
alone or defeated I would sit by our apartment s window and listen to symphonies by Chopin,
Vivaldi, and Paganini among others; they became a coping mechanism and inspiration to draw my
surroundings inform of a lighthearted fantasy that made our new residence and neighborhood feel
like home.
At a point in my life where the narrative that played in my head like Chopin s Waltz, soon got
defeated by blank notes when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 10. It became
evident to me when I was sitting in on the examination table that there would be notable amounts of
limitations ahead of me. I couldn t

Strategic Success And Mission Failure Of Operation Ivory...
Thesis
The purpose of this paper is to examine a historical battle utilizing the four steps of battle analysis
to provide an alternate outcome. This paper will define the battle, review the settings, describe the
actions, and assess the significance of the actions for Operation Ivory Coast. Furthermore, this
paper will relate the causes and effects of essential elements critical to the tactical success and
mission failure of Operation Ivory Coast. Ultimately, all contributing factors will coalesce into
lessons learned from the operation that are still applicable to this day.
Define the Battle
The United States Army Special Forces (U.S. SF) conducted a joint operation with the United
States Air Force (U.S. Air Force), with support from the United States Navy (U.S. Navy), to rescue
American Prisoners of War (PoWs) in Son Tay Prison in Northern Vietnamduring the Vietnam War.
The actual date of the operation took place on November 20, 1970 but the actual mission planning
process occurred between May and August of the same year. The United States identified
approximately 500 American Prisoners of War that the North Vietnamese Army (N.V. Army) held
in captivity. More so, several intelligence reports indicated the N.V. Army tortured prisoners and
kept them in terrible conditions. As a result, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, General Earle G.
Wheeler authorized the creation of a working group to address the issue and develop appropriate
solutions. Essentially, the

The Effects Of Alcohol Abuse And Binge Drinking
College students will always encounter some type of problem during their college experience. A
problem can be something simple such as a lack of adequate parking or more complex such as
sexual harassment. A new report from Student Monitor asked college students to identify the
biggest problems on campus, and their top three answers were cost of education, stress, and alcohol
abuse, (Jacobs, 2014, p.1). College students will be affected by a number of problems during their
college career. As a professional in student affairs it is our duty to help students decrease their
problems and help them have a successful experience. Andrews Universityis experiencing one of
the top three biggest social issues on their campus, alcohol abuse and... Show more content on

This can be due to the fact that when students attend a four year college they most often are
exposed to new experiences, friends, and they may also have less parental supervision. Attending
college can be a major transition for young adults which in return can lead to trying new things such
as, alcohol.
It is my job to change this social issue that has become a major problem on campus. The first
step I am going to take is make awareness of developing and enforcing alcohol campus policies.
Colleges and universities are mandated by the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989
to put into practice a program to prevent the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol by
students. (Marshall et al, 2011). This is a great way to inform students about their college or
university campus rules regarding alcohol. Andrews University has policies set however, since
alcohol abuse and binge drinking is a major concern on campus, I will have to develop and
reinforce these polices. When developing and changing these policies it is important to remember
to include the entire student body as well as the surrounding community. Campuses typically have
a diverse student population therefore it is important to target approaches specifically to various
groups (Anderson et al, 1997). For example, messages and certain approaches regarding alcohol
abuse will be different

Comparing Christian Beliefs Of The Bible, Jesus, And God
Christianity and Islam are two of the most popular religions in world. Everyone, from East to West,
knows about these religions because of their historical impact and their continued influence today.
However, even though Christianity and Islam are two of the most popular religions, many people
know little about them, especially their similarities. This essay will discuss how Islamand
Christianityare similar but different in their views of the Bible, Jesus, and God.
First off, let s begin by comparing the Islamic and Christian beliefs of the Bible. For Christians
the Bible is their holy text and the word of God, while the Islamic belief is that the Bible is the
word of prophets and it has been corrupted by the centuries; there are multiple versions of the
Bible and it has been mistranslated. Also, Muslims only find truth in the Bible if it agrees with the
Qur an. Although Muslims do not hold it to the same degree of importance as the Christians do, it
is still regarded as a holy text in both religions.
Secondly, Christianity and Islam have similar but also very different views on Jesus. Islam and
Christianity both believe that Jesus was born from a virgin mother and that Jesus performed
miracles. However, in Christian belief Jesus was God in a human vessel and he died on the cross to
forgive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Islamic belief of Allah, or God, is that He is one; Muslims do not believe in separation of
God into different people or things, this defies the Christian belief of the Holy Trinity. The
Christian belief of the Holy Trinity is that God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; He is
not three separate gods or one God in three forms. Although they differ in their belief of the Holy
Trinity, they both believe that there is only one God in existence. That is why Muslims believe that
both Christians and Muslims worship the same God, because there is only one God in

Summary Of 13 Most Wanted Men By Alhol Warhol
Instead of taking the rejection with a grain of salt and moving on, Warhol interpreted it as a
challenge to convince others to view him as a serious artist. He realized no one would take him
seriously if he continued to pursue his interests such as displayed in Boys Kissing Boys. Instead
of moving away from his homosexual subject matter altogether, Warhol found other less direct
ways of including it in his work. 13 Most Wanted Men was commissioned to be displayed at the
1964 1965 New York World s fair, but it was painted over within days of its debut in what some
have described as quite literally white washing the work. Warhol printed large images of
criminals side by side who were suspected of being part of the Mafia; the images he gathered
were from a booklet that was released by the NYPD s Commissioner a few months prior to the fair
s opening day. The piece was 20 x20 and done entirely in black and white. Gerard Malanga, Warhol
s studio assistant, said [Andy] thought it would be funny and shocking within the context of a
family outing, in regards to Warhol s choice of subject matter. The subject in this context is the
wanted men. On the surface of the work, it features mugshots of thirteen criminals, however, there
is a double meaning placed within the title of the work. Warhol is toying with the notion that law
enforcement officials were not the only ones who want men. The entire piece is built around a pun
with homosexual undertones. The portraits are

Minor Squabbles
Huber states that creative problem solving is the most effective mode of conflict management
(2014, p. 175). Initially, the nurse manager should allow all parties involved an opportunity to
explain their position. This projects an authentic interest and commitment to fairness on the part of
the manager, as the manager attempts to reframe the conflict into a productive outcome.
Not all conflict needs to be addressed. Small, minor squabbles can sometimes be left to extinguish
on their own, this is using the avoiding technique. However, minor squabbles that draw the
attention and added investment of others may fan the flames of conflict and require an intervention
by the nurse manager. Accommodation is another technique used in conflict management.

Having a lot of prior knowledge about football helps you understand the history of some things.
John David Crow is the first person that comes to mind when I think about the Heisman Trophy.
Although Crow was a native from Marion in North Louisiana, he found his way west to Springhill.
Here at Springhill High School, he dominated throughout his career setting many records and
accomplishing multiple goals. Crow and his fellow teammates also won a state championship,
which was one of two that Springhill holds in football. With a dominating high school campaign
such as Crow had, there was no doubt college coaches from all over the country was trying to
sign him up at their university. Being a smart thinker of football, he decided to go play for the
legendary Paul Bear Bryant at Texas A M. To be one of the best, you have to play for one of the
best so you can get in a great system to be successful. John David Crow s senior season at Texas
A M was one that no one could ever forget. He was superman of the team because he did almost
everything. He ran the ball, caught the ball, caught interceptions for opposing offenses, and
tackled the opponents. After the season, Coach Paul Bear Bryant stated, If John David Crow
does not win the Heisman Trophy, they ought to stop giving it. () He was the first aggie to win it

Once they saved enough money, they were able to buy their freedom Finally, slaves were able to
see the light at the other end of the long tunnel of harsh treatment on the plantations. Slavery
ultimately ended in the United States following Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation of
1863, which freed slaves that were rebelling against the federal government. In 1865, slavery was
abolished. Thanks to President Abraham Lincoln, the slaves were finally a free race. There was one
thing that helped to keep the slaves believing that they would receive their freedom, and that they
will see better days ahead. That was there firm belief in god. They would hold church, or what
they would call religious revivals, out in a field. Having that belief kept them strong and held the
families together that was not traded or auctioned off. Slave owners initially resisted evangelicals
preaching to their bond people, but as the revival movement spread, a few came to consider it their
Christian duty to teach their slaves about the bible. Converting their original religions to

Christopher Hitchens uses all three forms of writing rhetoric to attempt to persuade readers that the

Christopher Hitchens use of ethos is not only lackluster, but also lacks persuasion. When

Monopoly Industry And Its Economic Effect
Monopoly Industry and its Economic Effect.
We live in a world where different economic systems exist and its existence is can create balances or
imbalances in the economical arena. These economic system can be characterized as Laissez faire
economy, command economy and a mixed economy, implemented by each state. Within those
segments of economy, a country can have companies following different structures of industries in
the marketplace with distinctive levels of competitions.
To understand how fluid a country s economy can be, it would be wise to understand a bit more
about the types of industries involved here. An industry can be described in four types; Pure
competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly.
In the Pure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Last, but not least industry is the monopoly industry and this is the industry we will dig further in
this discussion.
Since monopolistic competition or oligopolistic market structures are the most commons in the
United States, it would be very interesting to actually analyse more of the monopolistic structure
industry and how that impacts the economy overall. In order to understand more about the
monopolistic industry is important to understand the fundamental of this industry.
In the monopolist industry only one seller sells a products and take over the control of those
products. In this industry there is no close substitutes. Its also important to understand that in order
for that to happen this firms are given exclusive protection of production by the government. Not
just by the government, but these firms can acquire their monopoly through a smart and efficient
free market production and with economies of scale.
To better have a picture of a monopoly industry, why not given examples of one major monopoly
industry in the world, the Microsoft. Not sure if there is familiar to this product, but if anyone
wants to buy its software, windows is the only choice since they are the only ones who provides
it. So whether we like windows or not, if there is need for a computer that s the only one we can

Compare and Contrast Two Different Pre License Nursing Undergraduate Programs
Healthcare sector plays a critical role as noted in many societies in the world. Both governments and
non governmental organizations have placed enormous resources to improve access and quality of
healthcare. They have also equally invested in health care providers, and nursing is no exemption.
Institutions, thus, train the various professionals in the health care sector and have to develop
curriculum. They ensure that graduates from the different institutions are competent enough to
address the requirements and duties related to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All students also have to have a personal interview with the representatives of the school of nursing.
Also, provide health clearance documents from recognized health care institutions that ascertain
that the applicants are physically and mentally competent to pursue the nursing profession.
Progression to the clinical nursing courses at the University is also subject to scrutiny. Students
have to meet the set technical standards as outlined in the student s handbook of Nursing. There are
pre requisite standards set at every level and stage of learning that students have to meet the
minimum set score and results before they progress to the advanced levels. It ensures that the
admitted students stay of course and focus on most students tend to relax after their early years. It
also ensures that the students work harder as most of the common units taught in the early stages of
learning are limited. It encourages and enables them to start specialization and mastering of the
content required for the professional service (Solbrekke, Heggen Engebretsen, 2014). If a student
encounters difficulties in learning and practicing, one can only be subjected from the set
regulations and standards if they produce an evaluation from a recognized physician or nurse
practitioner. The courses offered in the nursing curriculum from the University originates from the
philosophy of nursing that includes assessment, planning, evaluating, analyzing and implementing

Varied Potentials of Aspergillus Species in Synthesis of...
Conclusions
To conclude, though use of Aspergillus species is common in synthesis of metal nanoparticles,
these five species are not well studied. Among them, A. fischeri confirms a good quality production
of AgNPs at an incredibly low concentration of salt solution used but with more number of bigger
sized particles. However, efforts are underway to optimize the conditions in the process to obtain a
good size and shape morphology. Also, understanding the protein nanoparticle interactions during
the synthesis mechanism shall guide us to the possibility of utilizing the present system as future
nano factories . We aim to purify and characterize the proteins to comprehend their mode of action

Characterization
Change in color was visually observed in the silver nitrate solution incubated with all five
Aspergillus species. The bio reduction of Ag+ in the aqueous solutions was screened by
sampling of aliquots at different time intervals. Absorption measurements were carried out on
Thermo scientific UV Visible Spectrophotometer from 200 800nm, at a resolution of 1 nm. A
part of the dried powdered sample was analysed by X ray diffractometer as a preliminary
confirmative method of the presence of silver nanoparticles. The X ray diffractometer (Rigaku
Miniflex 11) was operated at a voltage of 30 kV and a current of 15mA with CuKО± radiation
(О»=1.5406 Г…) and at 2 theta angles, intensities were recorded from 6В°to 60В°. To know the
size of synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), size distribution analysis was performed using
dynamic light scattering in aqueous solution. The hydrodynamic size of the silver nanoparticles
was obtained using a Zeta sizer (Malvern) instrument applying a 660 nm laser. The software was
optimized to report summary statistics based upon the intensity of light scattered. Two milliliter
sample volumes from each nanosilver dispersion were loaded into glass cuvettes and summary
statistics were obtained using triplicate 2 minutes analyses (total analysis time=6minutes). For

What Is The Difference Between Pepsi And Coca Cola
There are a lot of soda companies out there, even though not all of them are similar, especially
their marketing strategies and how they give use of their websites. A couple of the mainstream
companies are Coca Cola and Pepsi. While some people will make a very strong case that they are
very different in taste, this is especially true with their websites and the way they show themselves.
Let s compare the Coca Cola s website with Pepsi s website, the biggest difference is the color.
Coca Cola uses red as their predominant color and Pepsi uses blue.
The first thing a guest will notice on Coca Cola s website is that the way the links are set up is
extremely disorganized. They can make it look more professional, if they stop re directing their
links to different websites. For example, if someone were to click on Coke in The USA tab on
the homepage, and decide to click on any of the links in the drop down menu, then the guest will
quickly realize that a new tab opened up on their web browser, and that they are now on a different
website. This sounds simple in theory, but a guest will end up with numerous tabs, which they will
have to painstakingly exit out of and on top of that, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Effects Of Racial Injustice
The Injustice of Racial Prejudice
Is there racial discrimination in the United States criminal justice system? If so, how can we change
this? Police brutality against minorities has specifically brought attention to this subject.
Researchers have been studying racial prejudice in everyday life, police interactions with civilians,
and in the courtroom.
Researchers studied racial prejudice in everyday interactions. These simple interactions can help us
understand how to improve the criminal justice system even before jurors step into the courtroom.
Lowery, Hardin, and Sinclair (2001) wanted to know if the race of the experimenter would elicit
automatic racial prejudice from participants. The results showed that when the experimenter was
Black and the participants were White, there were fewer anti Black answers, meaning that there
were less negative association with Black names or faces on the test they completed . Asians, on the
other hand, did not hide their biases. When the anti bias instructions were received, Whites and
Asians had similar results. These results show that framing jury instructions and having Black
people present in a White setting can help decrease bias in courts.
Researchers also studied racial prejudice directly in the criminal justice system. Eberhardt, Goff,
Purdie, and Davies (2004) wanted to know the extent Blacks are associated with criminality.
Participants looked at White and Black faces, were primed with either random letters, crime related

Measure Of Crime And Crime
Measure of Crime
The U.S. is in a developing stage as to how to measure crime; however, there are different ways to
measure and gather criminal statistics, such as the FBI s Uniform Crime Report(UCR) that is
updated annually. The National Incident based Reporting System(NIBRS) which has been
developed to broaden the extent and depth of crime data gathered by police agencies (Dammer
Abanese, 2014). Throughout the globe and nations, there are different ways to gather criminal data
and measure crime and being consistent and reliable is costly and rigorous; surveys are formed and
people are encouraged to fill those surveys upon their personal desire and with many of them having
the opportunity of staying anonymous. International Crime Victim Surveys (ICVS) is coordinated
between the minister of justice in Netherlands and the United Nations Interrogated Crime and
Justice Research Institute (ICVS) (Dammer Abanese, 2014).
In Colombia there is The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) and is part
of the executive branch on Colombia s congress (DANE, 2015). Crime measurement is highly
relied upon DANE and their collections, since it is a part of the legislative branch of congress is
believed that they will be reliable and unbiased on their crime measurement practices. Colombia s
Department of Criminal Investigation (DIJIN) is part of Colombia s only police agency, which is

Potential Causal Relationship Between Animal Cruelty And...
This study focuses on evaluating the potential causal relationship between animal cruelty and later
violent offenses, as well as the factors that form the foundation of that potential relationship. This
study served to further a good deal of past research, most notably the work done by MacDonald
(1963), who introduced the threesome of fire setting, enuresis, and cruelty of animals as predictors
of aggression. Although there has not been a good deal of research linking the first two aspects to
future violence, much research has focused on the relationship between animal cruelty and
aggression. However, the majority of these studies had limited causal application as a result of
using either a cross sectional design or being dependent upon participant reflection on events that
occurred decades earlier. Thus, this study sought not only to determine whether a causal
relationship existed, but also if factors such as age, sex, or race played a role in predicting
aggressive behavior. The researchers presented four hypotheses. First, they predicted that animal
cruelty would predict aggressive offenses after controlling for age, sex, race, and early onset of
behavior problems. The second hypothesis held that violence against animals would serve as a
stronger predictor of aggressive offenses than of non aggressive offenses. In their third hypothesis,
researchers predicted that sex would serve as a moderator variable in the relationship between
animal cruelty and aggressive offending.

How Did Ww2 Affect The Economy
World War II WWII is considered the deadliest war in history, causing more than 50 million
military and civilian deaths. This war began when Germany decided to invade Poland sparking the
help of France and Great Britain. With more than 30 different participating countries, it was a
conflict that involved nearly every aspect of the globe. The main belligerents were divided into the
Axis and Allies powers. United States, Great Britain and France belonged in the Allies against
Germany, Italy and Japan of the Axis. Enormous technological advances were made during the war.

war ended many refused to give up their jobs, forcing governments to allow women to work and
increase the equality in pay. Because the World War II was mainly fought in Europe, both
England and France were devastated by the effects of the war. The European economy had
collapsed with 70% of the industrial infrastructure destroyed. However, the United States was
spared the physical destruction of the war and its economy dominated the world economy. In
addition, it became the leading military power. The Soviet Union also experienced a rapid

the decline of old superpowers and the rise of two new onesв€’ the United States and the Soviet

The Beauty Of Art Essay
People have appreciated numerous forms of art over many decades and continue to analyze what
art is and how the aesthetics of it affect viewers. Audiences have gathered to ooh and ahh at art
galleries, musicals, play and ballet performances, and concerts. In fact people even travel long
distances to view world renowned tourist sites, such as the Sistine Chapel. There are billions of
creations and events that are considered art whether that art is valued by a large audience or the
artist alone. Either way, art has become a tremendously significant method of entertainment in the
world today, even if one does not recognize the entertainment as art. My own definition of art is:

The beauty of art varies among individuals, but either way, it is a beautiful thing. Art is meant to
portray a multitude of emotions through words or images and those emotions strongly affect most
people. For example, Joseph M. Martin s song entitled The Awakening features a four part harmony
with lyrics that portray a dream (a nightmare rather) where the world lacks music.
Lyrics:
I dreamed a dream, a silent dream, of a land not far away
Where no bird sang, no steeples rang, and teardrops fell like rain.
I dreamed a dream; a silent dream.
I dreamed a dream of a land so filled with pride
That every song, both weak and strong, withered and died.
I dreamed a dream
No hallelujah; not one hosanna!
No song of love, no lullaby.
And no choir sang to change the world.
No pipers played, no dancers twirled.
I dreamed a dream; a silent dream.
Awake, awake!
Awake, Awake!
Awake my soul and sing, the time for praise has come.
The silence of the night has passed,
A new day has begun!
Let music never die in me;
Forever let my spirit sing!
Wherever emptiness is found let there be joy and glorious sound.
Let music never die in me; forever let my spirit sing!
Let all our voices join as one to praise the giver of the sun!
Awake, awake!
Let music live!

Scopophilia
Literature review.
The media has changed significantly over the past decades. Technology has modified our abilities
to expand our communication network, and it allows companies to spread their commercials over
many different continents. Research done by Roberts (1993) shows that adolescent and children
are often very influenced by media that involves sexual or violent conduct. This research is based
on media involving children and adolescents, however this does not eliminate the effect media has
on adults (Singer Singer, 2001, p. 269).
Over the past decades, media has constructed and manipulated women into being the main form of
sexual pleasure for the male viewer. Pleasure in looking, scopophilia, is one of many possible types

The woman can merely be a narcissistic projection that comes from the male, unconsciously.
Robert J. Stoller stated that Fetishizing is the norm of males, not for females , (Valerie Steel,
1996) Meaning that females are not interested in body parts and sexy outfits in the same way men
are. Fetishistic imagery is divided into three different types: the first is a woman with a phallic
substitute, secondly, a woman without a phallus usually intimidated or mocked by women with a
phallus and last, a woman as the phallus.
In fetishistic imagery, the true focus is always the phallus, and not the woman itself. Men attain
most pleasure from viewing voyeurism and fetishistic imagery because the men starts to feel more
control and power of their own lives because the men identify themselves with the male protagonist.
(Gaines, 1990.)
Stated in Fetish: Fashion, Sex Power (Valerie Steel, 1996), many feminists interpret fetish as a
symptom of patriarchy and capitalism, where the fetishist is always male and the female becomes
the fetish itself, the perfect object. Fetishism is described as glorifying by some, however others
would describe it as something negative, where the woman s desire has disappeared.
Women in films are usually portrayed as dependent to the male characters and it would therefor not
be very likely that females would experience pleasure from looking at a female character that is
influenced and dependent of the male characters, however studies show that women

Building Relationships With Our Inner City Youth
With all the incidents happening here in America involving officers making them seem like the
bad guys I decided to come up with the non profit organization of P.O.L.I.C.E to show they are
really here for us and our protection. There is no positive outlook on police and nobody thinks of
building relationships with them especially today s youth. In many communities in America our
inner city youth does not trust and is more scared of officers than they are more dependant on
them. Which has created many issues and even riots in some cities. P.O.L.I.C.E is a program done
by policeofficers in communities that are struggling with troubled youth to help and provide
guidance for them and also help build relationships in the community back up again. In order for
this organization to work we will needmany officers to step up and wantto be part of this program,
and if they care about protecting the people like they should than they will want to be apart of it.
Getting these volunteers will be the first step. The next step to fall behind that is getting a little
money for certain activities for these mentors and the kids. I ve researched many federal grants
that are out there that this program could apply for. According to grants.gov Pathways to Justice
Careers for Youth is one that is available (GRANTS.GOV). There is also a charity program called
Cops For Kids which gives out money for programs such as this (Grant Guidelines). Many
donations could also be given to the program.

The Life Of Sitting Bull
Early life
Sitting Bull was born in Dakota Territory. He was named Jumping Badger at birth, when he was
fourteen years old he accompanied a group of Lakota warriors (which included his father and his
uncle Four Horns) in a raiding party to take horses from a camp of Crow warriors. Jumping
Badger displayed bravery by riding forward and counting coup on one of the surprised Crow,
which was witnessed by the other mounted Lakota. Upon returning to camp his father gave a
celebratory feast at which he conferred his own name upon his son.

The name, TИџatИџaЕ‹ka IyotИџaЕ‹ka (Tatanka Iyotake), which in the Lakota language means
Buffalo Bull Sits Down , would later be abbreviated to Sitting Bull . Thereafter, Sitting Bull s father
was known as Jumping Bull. At this ceremony before the entire band, Sitting Bull s father
presented his son with an eagle feather to wear in his hair, a warrior s horse, and a hardened
buffalo hide shield to mark his son s passage into manhood as a Lakota warrior.
Red Clouds War
From 1866 to 1868, Red Cloud as a leader of the Lakota fought against US forces, attacking their
forts in an effort to keep control of the Powder River Country of Montana. In support of him,
Sitting Bull led numerous war parties against Fort Berthold, Fort Stevenson, and Fort Buford and
their environs from 1865 through 1868. By early 1868, the U.S. government desired a peaceful
settlement to Red Clouds War. Signed a form of the Treaty of Fort Laramie on July 2, 1868

Marijuana Side Effects
Perhaps more so than with any other illegal drug, side effects resulting from marijuana use can
vary widely. What side effects are felt is chiefly determined by the user s tolerance to
tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the active ingredient of marijuana plants. As with many other
mind altering drugs, a user s state of mind before using the drug plays a large part in the quality
of the experience, as well as what side effects are experienced. Side Effects in the Short Term
People who use marijuana do so chiefly to experience a change in their perception, increase their

Respiratory problems may arise from continued use as well as the usual coughing and wheezing
associated with smoking marijuana. Other common side effects of marijuana are decreased
motor skills, light headedness, and redness of the eyes. Long Term Effects of Marijuana Use
When a person has been using marijuana regularly over an extended period of time, many
changes in mood and in some cases, mental health, may take place. Short and long term memory
are both decreased with repeated usage of the drug. As tolerance to the psychoactive chemical
THC is increased, as is the amount of marijuana needed to afford the marijuana user an
acceptable high. A user s mood may be affected negatively by this need to use more drugs to get
high. After use of marijuana has been stopped, withdrawal symptoms can occur. The most
common is dissatisfaction with life while not high, resulting in a desire to consume the drug.
Trouble sleeping is another minor symptom that results from cessation of marijuana usage. Some
studies have even shown that marijuana users are more likely to develop mental health issues as
severe as psychosis as opposed to people who do not use. On the whole, it isn t smart to use

Charles Lindbergh Embodiment of the American Dream
The 1920 s are well known for social movements ranging from women s rights and racial equality
to fashion and art. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American
Dream. America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to
Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an
easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was
not available at the time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start
of a new age of technology and mechanics, an art in its own right.
With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and
broken, including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the
highest recorded speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles
Lindbergh set off from New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully
complete the journey. Rising from obscurity to follow his dreams while doing what he loved,
Charles A Lindbergh embodied the American Dream as much as the 1920 s did.
Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1907 to Charles

Us Involvement In The Vietnam War
Before the famous Vietnam war started, America promised we would keep communism from taking
over. When Eisenhower and Kennedy were in office they continued to supply weapons, funds, and
military advisors to South Vietnam. America stepped in when North Vietnam began to take over
South Vietnam. We stepped in to help South Vietnam because they are our allies and they couldn t
take on North Vietnam alone. This action taken by the United Statesgovernment to step in created
many problems within our own country. When the war began many Americans believed that
defending South Vietnam from Communist aggression was in the national interest. When
operation Rolling Thunder began in 1965, only 15% of Americans opposed getting involved in
the war. If America wouldn t show its loyalty to its allies it would look bad on America. Also if
we didn t put our foot to communism when we did, who would? Communism would ve spread all
over the world if we didn t contain it while we still could. Americans fear the domino theory which

By the end of the war only 15% supported sending our troops over there. So many people
opposed the United States involvement because the government kept lying by saying we were
doing great and almost done over there, but in reality we weren t doing good at all. None of this
supports involvement but the good outcome of this was we now are very cautious on what our
government tells us and can recognize when something doesn t seem right with what they are
telling us. Another thing that we got out of the war was the 26th amendment. If boys at the age of
18 were able to hold and gun and shoot someone in a war, shouldn t they be allowed to vote? The
26th amendment gave them the option to vote at the age of 18 years

The Case Law Has Established A Formal And Sufficiency Test
o Regarding given circumstance, the issue is to determine the status as such the rights derived
by Arvind, his partner Stephanie as well as their two children under EU law. In order to do this
each of them will be discussed below. Arvind Article 20 TFEU states that every person holding
the nationality of a member state shall be a citizen of the union. In addition Article 21 further
provides for the rights of citizens to move freely within any member state subject to conditions
and limitations. Arvind being a British national under the above provisions automatically
becomes an EU citizen and for the purpose of ART 21 is entitled to move freely within any
member state (Czech Republic.). A union citizen can stay for a period more than 3months if he
is a worker or self employed . Article 45 48 TFEU establishes the rights of a worker under free
movement of people in EU law. The meaning of a worker is further found in case law. The case
law has established a formal and sufficiency test The sufficiency test is based on the nature and
quality of the work such that a person can be regarded as engaged in effective and genuine work
. This was illustrated in Levin. The formal test is set in Lawrie Blum. Which require an
affirmative answer to three questions. Is the person obliged to work for another; is the work done
for monetary reward; is the person subject to direction and control of another. Arvind is a director
of BD, a company and as such can be

What Is Slavery In Ancient Rome
Slavery in ancient Rome differed from its modern forms in that it was not based on race. But like
modern slavery, it was an abusive and degrading institution. Cruelty was commonplace.
A common practice Slavery had a long history in the ancient world and was practiced in Ancient
Egypt and Greece, as well as Rome. Most slaves during the Roman Empire were foreigners and,
unlike in modern times, Roman slavery was not based on race. Slaves in Rome might include
prisoners of war, sailors captured and sold by pirates, or slaves bought outside Roman territory. In
hard times, it was not uncommon for desperate Roman citizens. To raise money by selling their
children into slavery.

Were Watching God Womanhood
Comparing and Contrasting How Womanhood is Portrayed in As I lay Dying and Their Eyes
Were Watching God Womanhood is an extremely significant topic discussed in various works of
literature. The subject of womanhood and how it is discussed in a work of literature enormously
differs between the authors personal views of it. Womanhood is an especially important topic in
the novels, As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale
Hurston. The authors views of womanhood are shown through the actions of their female
characters as well as how they are characterized. In Hurston s novel, Their Eyes Were Watching
God, the character that most prominently reflects Hurston s views of womanhood is the protagonist,

In addition, the woman needs some freedom in the marriage, which is demonstrated through Janie s
marriage with Joe Starks, whose overbearing nature ultimately caused his marriage with Janie to
deteriorate. Although Janie did eventually find her true love, Tea Cake, at the end of the novel, she
demonstrated the ultimate act of womanhood by shooting her husband and true love in order to
save her own life. This analysis most likely implies that a marriage must be fair to the woman, but
the woman must not lose herself in her marriage and be defined by the man in the relationship.
Instead, the woman should maintain a clear sense of self and treat her partner as an equal, rather
than putting the partner before

Sasha Patterson, NEW Leadership Program Manager introduced us to Dana Brown, Executive
Director of Pennsylvania Center for Women and Politics at Chatham University to discuss about the
challenges of restarting the program, Ms. Brown reintroduce the NEW Leadership program after a
2 year hiatus.
Secondly, to ensure diversification in our NEW Leadership class of 2016, we scheduled face to
face meetings with institutions with a high population of culturally underrepresented groups, which
allowed us to reach a greater student population diverse in all sectors. Also meetings with partners
that we believed were a good fit for recruiting and/or recommending students to the program.
In addition, we anticipated that institutions would feel a greater commitment to the program if they
were involved with recommending students. We encouraged schools to think beyond the typical
student government or political science major and actively recommended students from all majors
by providing examples of past NEW Leadership participants who have participated in a major in

Temperature Affects Candle Rate Investigation
INTRODUCTION Problem: How does the size of a beaker placed over a candle affect the length of
the time it will burn for?
Hypothesis: If different sized beakers (100 ml, 50 ml, 250 ml, 400 ml) are placed over the lit
candle, then the candle will stay lit for longer if it s covered by the largest beaker (400 ml) ,because
fire needs oxygen to stay alive.
VARIABLES The independent variables is the different sized beakers... (50 ml, 100 ml, 250 ml,
400 ml). The dependent variables is the amount of time in between placing the beaker completely
over the candle, and the flame burning out. The controlled variables is that the candle used in the
experiment was always the same, and that all the beakers were made of glass.

Theme Of Ambition In Victor Frankenstein
Through Victor Frankenstein and Robert Walton in the novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley displays
the ways in which Frankenstein s disastrous story prevents Walton from the repercussions of his
own ambitions. Ambition can be defined as a strong desire and the determination to achieve
success. Both Victor and Walton display this trait, which as much as enhances their personalities,
also portrays their deep flaws. The men possess unrealistic dreams of transforming society as well
as obtaining glory through their individual scientific achievements, resulting in an undesirable way.
Beginning at a very young age, Victor Frankensteinhad always been a studious and eager boy.
However, nothing compared to the obsessive desire he had towards ... Show more content on

Walton has high hopes to be the first to discover a part of the world that has never before been
visited in the Arctic. Through the letters he writes to his sister, Walton assures her that success shall
crown [his] endeavours. Wherefore not? Thus far I have gone, tracing a secure way over the
pathless seas: the very stars themselves being witnesses and testimonies of my triumph (23 24).
Walton believes that despite the difficulty of his journey, he will achieve success and is determined
to not stop until he gets there. His mentality eventually gets him caught in an unsatisfactory
situation and it s not until he meets Victor Frankenstein that he realizes he must finally retreat from
his mission.
After spending time with Walton on the ship, Victor comes to recognize the deadly ambition of his
own that he identifies in Walton. Both men are willing to do whatever it takes to insure their own
personal success, acting oblivious to the consequences they may face. Their ambitions have blinded
them from the reality of the matter and made them ignorant. Upon Victor s deathbed, he warns
Walton through experience, farewell, Walton! Seek happiness in tranquility, and avoid ambition,
even if it be only the apparently innocent one of distinguishing yourself in science and discoveries.
Yet why do I says this? I have myself been blasted in these hopes, yet another

Types of Relationships
Vinash Persad
Expository Essay Wk2
Three Types of Relationships Human relationships have always perplexed me. These seemingly
simple bonds between people can amount to so much and cause such commotion that lives
change drastically within minutes in these relationships. Especially in the fast changing world of
today. In my piece I am going to be telling you about the three types of relationships I see taking
place. Over time, I have asked myself three questions, finding the answers along the way, which is
what I will be explaining to you. To begin, how much does one compromise on self gratification
for the sake of commitment? Or should one compromise at all in the name of love? Finally, what
happens when love is found outside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compromising in the name love is just wrong to do; whatever the circumstances. This sort of
actions you would find in arranged marriages and usually it is the female that has to make this
compromise and suffer. A classic example of this type of relationship can be seen in arranged
marriages in Indian families, but these are not limited for Indian families in India; these can still
be seen in American or other parts of the world where Indian or Muslim families reside. Only true
love can set them free of this compromise but it just ends up in a big blunder because it would
create a lot of friction and pose a lot of questions. When someone truly loves, they expect to have it
back in return. Not an act. Lastly, what happens when love is found outside ones commitment? This
to me is a sad thing but also a happy thing when it is dealt with maturely and with much
understanding. Regarding my earlier points; imagine in this compromise that is made. It takes a
true person to understand when love is found outside a relationship by the compromising partner.
Although the other party is strongly in love with this person, they would understand that this was
not their love story after all and should be happy that their partner found theirs. Yes it is a sad thing
to happen in a relationship, but when one understands the meaning of true love only then they can
let go without any qualms. In conclusion I would

  • 3. Identity In Fantomina How can you know who you really are if you are confined to a certain few social structures of identity? A woman may be smarter, be able to do what a man can do, but everything from a job, consisting of nannies to maids, or to her own sexuality, staying chaste till marriage, is under sharp scrutiny. Sexuality is a hallmark theme of many novels even in the 18th century. Whether it be the main plot of a story or one of the various subplots. In the stories Roxana and Fantomina the main characters identities seem to be in control by using their sexuality to their own ends. These women go nameless in their own stories, so do they truly stay within the confines of their sex of the 18th century? Being nameless and going by an assumed identity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like Roxana she is using her sexuality and freedom to gain what she wants from life. Unlike Roxana Fantomina s freedom is fleeting and only comes from lack of supervision. She was intrigued by the freedom and sexuality showed of the prostitutes at the play house. the greater was her Wonder, that Men, some of whom she knew were accounted to have Wit, should have Tastes so very depraved. This excited a Curiosity in her to know in what Manner these Creatures were address d. This leads to her descent into sexuality itself, which is more then she bargained for, she had just wanted the attention of men falling all over themselves to talk to her. Fantomina is a lady of high standing, and men followed the rules and protocols to woo a lady but not a prostitute. She depended on the strength of her virtue, to bear her safe thro trials more dangerous than she apprehended this to be, and never having been addressed by him as a lady was resolved to receive his devoirs as a town mistress, imagining a world of satisfaction to herself in engaging him in the character of such a one, and in observing the surprise he would be in to find himself refused by a woman who he supposed granted her favors without exception. This passage shows that she never meant to give into sexual activity with him, also making it clear that she is a woman who planned on protecting her chastity and virtue. This makes Fantomina more sympathetic to the readers, who would judge a woman for giving into sexual desires. The story however shows how even a high class lady who is expected to be able to maintain her self control can be seduced by the idea of pleasure and freedom. An escape from her restrictive identity. She had gone too far to retreat he was bold, he was resolute, she fearful confused altogether unprepared to resist in such encounters. She was successful in seducing Beauplaisir, but it went ... • 6. My Dream Life I vividly recall being asked what my dream job was on a sunny day during our physical education class in third grade. The first thing that flashed through my mind was architecture as I observed my surroundings, feeling a sense of belonging and deficiency. I ve always been keen towards drawing and painting. I have an incline to attribute my surroundings, the world, through a tale; a tale behind every landscape, edifice, and object. I don t perceive a building as a background for a setting made of cold concrete and steel, instead, I see the marvelous architecture as a living character that provides the base of a story. A base that influenced my upbringing when I lived in my hometown Honduras and later the United States. Up to the presenttimewhen I lived in Honduras, the structure of our home was surrounded by nature; the everlasting scent of the flowers in the garden as birds flew by became habitual. Seating on the porch, I would draw on the white surface as my hands would rhythmically move to the symphonies my mom would play on the radio like Love s Joy by Fritz Kreisler. In due time, it was time for us to leave everything behind in search of a new beginning. Our first residence in the United States drastically changed from what my child self was used to. We lived in a small apartment in Collins Ave where the structural space of the buildings seemed crowded. I felt foreign, missing the scent of home and natures labyrinth. Fritz Kreisler s Love Joy soon became Love s Sorrow as I took small steps to accommodate myself to our new surroundings, our new architectural landscape. Whenever I felt alone or defeated I would sit by our apartment s window and listen to symphonies by Chopin, Vivaldi, and Paganini among others; they became a coping mechanism and inspiration to draw my surroundings inform of a lighthearted fantasy that made our new residence and neighborhood feel like home. At a point in my life where the narrative that played in my head like Chopin s Waltz, soon got defeated by blank notes when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 10. It became evident to me when I was sitting in on the examination table that there would be notable amounts of limitations ahead of me. I couldn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Strategic Success And Mission Failure Of Operation Ivory... Thesis The purpose of this paper is to examine a historical battle utilizing the four steps of battle analysis to provide an alternate outcome. This paper will define the battle, review the settings, describe the actions, and assess the significance of the actions for Operation Ivory Coast. Furthermore, this paper will relate the causes and effects of essential elements critical to the tactical success and mission failure of Operation Ivory Coast. Ultimately, all contributing factors will coalesce into lessons learned from the operation that are still applicable to this day. Define the Battle The United States Army Special Forces (U.S. SF) conducted a joint operation with the United States Air Force (U.S. Air Force), with support from the United States Navy (U.S. Navy), to rescue American Prisoners of War (PoWs) in Son Tay Prison in Northern Vietnamduring the Vietnam War. The actual date of the operation took place on November 20, 1970 but the actual mission planning process occurred between May and August of the same year. The United States identified approximately 500 American Prisoners of War that the North Vietnamese Army (N.V. Army) held in captivity. More so, several intelligence reports indicated the N.V. Army tortured prisoners and kept them in terrible conditions. As a result, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, General Earle G. Wheeler authorized the creation of a working group to address the issue and develop appropriate solutions. Essentially, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This can be due to the fact that when students attend a four year college they most often are exposed to new experiences, friends, and they may also have less parental supervision. Attending college can be a major transition for young adults which in return can lead to trying new things such as, alcohol. It is my job to change this social issue that has become a major problem on campus. The first step I am going to take is make awareness of developing and enforcing alcohol campus policies. Colleges and universities are mandated by the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 to put into practice a program to prevent the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students. (Marshall et al, 2011). This is a great way to inform students about their college or university campus rules regarding alcohol. Andrews University has policies set however, since alcohol abuse and binge drinking is a major concern on campus, I will have to develop and reinforce these polices. When developing and changing these policies it is important to remember to include the entire student body as well as the surrounding community. Campuses typically have a diverse student population therefore it is important to target approaches specifically to various groups (Anderson et al, 1997). For example, messages and certain approaches regarding alcohol abuse will be different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone, from East to West, knows about these religions because of their historical impact and their continued influence today. However, even though Christianity and Islam are two of the most popular religions, many people know little about them, especially their similarities. This essay will discuss how Islamand Christianityare similar but different in their views of the Bible, Jesus, and God. First off, let s begin by comparing the Islamic and Christian beliefs of the Bible. For Christians the Bible is their holy text and the word of God, while the Islamic belief is that the Bible is the word of prophets and it has been corrupted by the centuries; there are multiple versions of the Bible and it has been mistranslated. Also, Muslims only find truth in the Bible if it agrees with the Qur an. Although Muslims do not hold it to the same degree of importance as the Christians do, it is still regarded as a holy text in both religions. Summary Of 13 Most Wanted Men By Alhol Warhol Instead of taking the rejection with a grain of salt and moving on, Warhol interpreted it as a challenge to convince others to view him as a serious artist. He realized no one would take him seriously if he continued to pursue his interests such as displayed in Boys Kissing Boys. Instead of moving away from his homosexual subject matter altogether, Warhol found other less direct ways of including it in his work. 13 Most Wanted Men was commissioned to be displayed at the 1964 1965 New York World s fair, but it was painted over within days of its debut in what some have described as quite literally white washing the work. Warhol printed large images of criminals side by side who were suspected of being part of the Mafia; the images he gathered were from a booklet that was released by the NYPD s Commissioner a few months prior to the fair s opening day. The piece was 20 x20 and done entirely in black and white. Gerard Malanga, Warhol s studio assistant, said [Andy] thought it would be funny and shocking within the context of a family outing, in regards to Warhol s choice of subject matter. The subject in this context is the wanted men. On the surface of the work, it features mugshots of thirteen criminals, however, there is a double meaning placed within the title of the work. Warhol is toying with the notion that law enforcement officials were not the only ones who want men. The entire piece is built around a pun with homosexual undertones. The portraits are ... These simple interactions can help us understand how to improve the criminal justice system even before jurors step into the courtroom. Asians, on the other hand, did not hide their biases. When the anti bias instructions were received, Whites and Asians had similar results. This study focuses on evaluating the potential causal relationship between animal cruelty and later violent offenses, as well as the factors that form the foundation of that potential relationship. This study served to further a good deal of past research, most notably the work done by MacDonald (1963), who introduced the threesome of fire setting, enuresis, and cruelty of animals as predictors of aggression. Although there has not been a good deal of research linking the first two aspects to future violence, much research has focused on the relationship between animal cruelty and aggression. However, the majority of these studies had limited causal application as a result of using either a cross sectional design or being dependent upon participant reflection on events that occurred decades earlier. Thus, this study sought not only to determine whether a causal relationship existed, but also if factors such as age, sex, or race played a role in predicting aggressive behavior. The researchers presented four hypotheses. First, they predicted that animal cruelty would predict aggressive offenses after controlling for age, sex, race, and early onset of behavior problems. The second hypothesis held that violence against animals would serve as a stronger predictor of aggressive offenses than of non aggressive offenses. In their third hypothesis, researchers predicted that sex would serve as a moderator variable in the relationship between animal cruelty and aggressive offending. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Audiences have gathered to ooh and ahh at art galleries, musicals, play and ballet performances, and concerts. There are billions of creations and events that are considered art whether that art is valued by a large audience or the artist alone. The beauty of art varies among individuals, but either way, it is a beautiful thing. Art is meant to portray a multitude of emotions through words or images and those emotions strongly affect most people. For example, Joseph M. Martin s song entitled The Awakening features a four part harmony with lyrics that portray a dream (a nightmare rather) where the world lacks music. Lyrics: I dreamed a dream, a silent dream, of a land not far away Where no bird sang, no steeples rang, and teardrops fell like rain. I dreamed a dream; a silent dream. I dreamed a dream of a land so filled with pride That every song, both weak and strong, withered and died. I dreamed a dream No hallelujah; not one hosanna! No song of love, no lullaby. And no choir sang to change the world. No pipers played, no dancers twirled. I dreamed a dream; a silent dream. Awake, awake! Awake, Awake! Awake my soul and sing, the time for praise has come. The silence of the night has passed, A new day has begun! Let music never die in me; Forever let my spirit sing! Wherever emptiness is found let there be joy and glorious sound. Let music never die in me; forever let my spirit sing!

This research is based on media involving children and adolescents, however this does not eliminate the effect media has on adults (Singer Singer, 2001, p. 269). The woman can merely be a narcissistic projection that comes from the male, unconsciously. Robert J. Stoller stated that Fetishizing is the norm of males, not for females , (Valerie Steel, 1996) Meaning that females are not interested in body parts and sexy outfits in the same way men are. Fetishistic imagery is divided into three different types: the first is a woman with a phallic substitute, secondly, a woman without a phallus usually intimidated or mocked by women with a phallus and last, a woman as the phallus. In fetishistic imagery, the true focus is always the phallus, and not the woman itself. Men attain most pleasure from viewing voyeurism and fetishistic imagery because the men starts to feel more control and power of their own lives because the men identify themselves with the male protagonist. (Gaines, 1990.) Stated in Fetish: Fashion, Sex Power (Valerie Steel, 1996), many feminists interpret fetish as a symptom of patriarchy and capitalism, where the fetishist is always male and the female becomes the fetish itself, the perfect object. Fetishism is described as glorifying by some, however others would describe it as something negative, where the woman s desire has disappeared. In many communities in America our inner city youth does not trust and is more scared of officers than they are more dependant on them. Which has created many issues and even riots in some cities. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American Dream. America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was not available at the time.
