The Meaning Of Shakespeare In The Bush By Laura Bohannan
No one piece of writing could ever be universally understood, especially a Shakespearean play.
The themes and meanings of Shakespearean plays have been in always been in debate and most
likely always will be because not only does a reader s societal background and experiences change
how they might interpret a piece of writing, but in addition, Shakespearean plays are written in a
way that is old and extremely difficult to understand. When Professor Laura Bohannan, an
anthropologist who had spent many fellowships in her career conducting research in East Africa,
visited a tribe of people called the Tiv of West Africa, she read Shakespeare s Hamlet
, and believed
the story had a very clear plot and that the understanding of the story could not be interpreted
multiple ways. In Bohannan s short story Shakespeare in the Bush, she... Show more content on

Reading about the different explanations the Tiv had for why and how different aspects of
Shakespeare s Hamlet s plot progressed was fascinating because even though they did not believe
in ghosts or understood Hamlet s motives for wanting to kill King Claudius, the Tiv people still
used their wisdom to determine what they believed is the most intelligent interpretation of Hamlet
and gained some wisdom from hearing the story. When Shakespeare wrote Hamlet, I m sure he
had a hope that the story would be interpreted a specific way, but I think the fact that even though
the Tiv people didn t receive the same message from Hamlet as Shakespeare would have liked
them to, it is still significant that the Tiv people gained knowledge and entertainment from hearing
the story, which is really what any storyteller like Shakespeare should ask

The Great Gatsby Comparative Essay
In both stories, The Great Gatsby and Women at Point Zero, the authors illustrated the readers what
precise details meant to them. Throughout each novel, there were multiple examples of how to
express special moments. Some examples include theme, symbols, motifs, or meaningful messages.
With these ideas in mind, the authors helped readers to interpret them and analyze them to find
solutions as they continue to read the novel.
In the novel, The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald studied the meaning of details. Some include the
setting of the novel, or the colors of certain objects in a scenery, or simply hidden symbols.
Throughout the story, the setting was a major cause. The novel took place around the 1920s.

Good Afternoon Tracey Analysis
Good Afternoon Tracey, I hope you re having a great day! I wanted to reach out to say that it was
a quite overwhelming and emotional to see you last weekend. Although, I truly have love and
appreciation for you on many levels, I also have hurt feelings about our last professional
interaction. I ve cleared my conscience and apologized to folks for the role I played in our fall
out they did not (I didn t expect them to). I doubt that she s apologized to you for positioning
you to play a main role in my departure (y all might have even discussed how I should have been
gone sooner who knows?) You may never speak up about how you really feel. That takes courage
and strength. At any rate, I have always wondered and even tried to rationalize how it made sense
for you to keep the lie and not fess up to the fact that you allowed the conflict to continue and you
never told the truth about letting me leave SHIFT early which caused the questions about my
whereabouts and ultimately me being fired from DF. You never told them that

The Bobo Doll Experiment Importance In Psychology
Bobo Doll Experiment Importance in Psychology The Bobo Doll Experiment was an experiment
conducted by Albert Bandura and his colleagues. The experiment was to overall find results to the
question, do children act aggressively if they grow up watching aggressive behavior? The
conductor gathered participants for the study and got results showing that yes, children do tend to
act more aggressive when they grow up around adults acting in an aggressive behavior. Bandura
believed that children get their behaviors by the behaviors they watch, and after he performed his
study, his results were believed to be supportive of his hypothesis.
What is this Study?
The Bobo Doll Experiment reveals how children imitate TV violence and the behavior of others.
Albert Bandura was the man who conducted the study of The Bobo Doll Experiment. He
studied children s behavior in the years of 1961 and 1963. He decided to watch the children s
behaviors after he watched an adult act hostile towards a Bobo doll. A Bobo doll is a toy that gets
up by itself after it is knocked down.
Why did Bandura Study this?
Bandura and his colleagues, the scientists of the Bobo Doll Experiment, believed there was some
reason children learned the behaviors that was important to them in their lives. Bandura anticipated
that children that viewed aggressive models would behave in a similar fashion as the model and
those that had non aggressive models would behave in the same fashion and not have aggressive
actions (Green, 1961). The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate one of the ways children
learned aggression. The researchers were hoping to find the proof that children learned aggression
from viewing it by another person.
What did the Researchers do Who was Involved?
The researches of this experiment used a lab experiment. They gathered the participants that fit
their needs for the information needed for the experiment to get accurate results. The researchers
accumulated 36 boys and 36 girls, ages 37 to 69 months. There were also two adults involved,
male and female. Twenty four of the children had an aggressive male and female role model.
Twenty four of the children had a non aggressive male and female role model. The last twenty four

The Popularity Of Guitar And The Phenomenal Success Of The...
The rise in popularity of guitar bands and the phenomenal success of the Guitar Hero video game
franchise has lead to more and more people picking up the guitar recently. Sales of guitars in the
UK has hit an all time high in the past three years and as more and more people are starting to play,
the guitarhas surpassed the piano as the most widely learned instrument in schools.
With all these people learning I thought I d pass on some tips from my 10 years of experience
playing guitar and help point people in the right direction as they start learning their technique. In
this article I ve listed some things that I feel are very important to playing well but are often
overlooked by those just starting out. If you re a seasoned player then there won t be much here
for you, but if you re new to playing guitar then hopefully I can help out and perhaps shed some
light on things you maybe hadn t thought about before.
Theory
The one factor that has improved my guitar playing beyond any other was taking the time out to
learn the basics of music theory. Once you manage to break out of the pentatonic scales so
overly used by rock guitarists you ll find that your song writing and improvisation will come on in
leaps and bounds. Believe it or not, by learning the scales you ll actually become far more free than
when you didn t know them. Ironically, learning the rules of music has left me much more open to
play expressively than before. Don t forget that once you know them,

The Last Dynasty Of Isin
From 1975 to 1954 BCE, Iddin Dagan ruled the city of Isin, which is located a little south of
Nippur. Iddin Dagan is loved by the gods, especially An, Enki, and Enlil. Because these three gods
favored Iddin Dagan, he was able to have a successful ruling, filled with abundance of agriculture, a
population increase, and a strong military presence. Ultimately, this shows that religion fuels power,
and without a strong religious presence the ruler would not have an impactful kingship, which truly
benefits the people of his realm.
Isin is the last dynasty that is mentioned in the Sumerian King List. Iddin Dagan was the third king
of the first dynasty of Isin. During the twentieth and nineteenth centuries, decentralizing forces
were strong, which led to an increasing number of local dynasties to come to power, such as the
Isin dynasty (Vdm, 90, document 5.2). The dynasty of Isin was started by Ishbi Erra, when he
freed the city of Ur and brought the local dynasty to Isin. Ishbi Erra continued a lot of the same
practices of the Ur III dynasty in the Isin dynasty.
This document, A Praise Poem of Iddin Dagan, is considered Sumerian royal praise poetry, which
often depicted and praised the various achievements, strengths and accomplishments of rulers in
the ancient Near East. Royal praise poetry can be used to analyze the legitimacy of a king and
how he ruled, how his people felt about him, and his relationship with the gods. Strong and
successful kings tended to have a close

Tenochtitlan Essay
Commerce: In the days of Tenochtitlan s true glory and magnificence, food was very hard to come
by because the land on which the city was built was not the most ideal place to harvest crops.
Because of this fact, the inhabitants of Tenochtitlan were forced to look to foreign trade to keep
their food supplies from running out. The markets in Tenochtitlan were said to be trading daily with
surrounding areas, as well as the Spanish, who, upon seeing the wonders that Tenochtitlan and its
residents had to offer, traded much with them. The goods that were being developed in Tenochtitlan
were ones that the Spaniards, and other cultures too for that matter, had never seen before. In the
times of Tenochtitlan s actual greatness and heavenliness, nourishment was difficult to find in light
of the fact that the arrive on which the city was fabricated was not the best place to reap crops. In
view of this, the occupants of Tenochtitlan were compelled to look to remote exchange to keep their
sustenance supplies from running out. The business sectors in Tenochtitlan were said to be

the miracles that Tenochtitlan and its occupants brought to the table, exchanged much with them.

make these sacrifices. It should also be noted that there were many palaces located throughout the

America s Independence Of Independence Essay
July 4,1776 was the day America would declare its Independence from their mother country
England. Thomas Jefferson drafts this Declaration of Independence using as a reference the
Scottish declaration. Declaring Independence would mean war between the British empire and
America . With only 35,000 poorly trained troops and 45,000 militias, no navy, small industry
with few financial resources the U.S was able to defeat the British Empire which had 56,000
skilled redcoats, 30,000 hessians, 50,000 loyalists, a royal navy and lots of financial resources. So
the question remains how exactly was the U.S able to win its independence against such a huge
empire? The American revolutionaries shared a set of political and social values which in essence
gave meaning to their actions. In September 1776 British army commander Sir William Howealong
with his brother Richard Howe used 32,000 Hessians to attack the American Commander General
Gorge Washington (pg.243). The brothers defeated Washington s army in several battles from
Brooklyn Heights to New York where Washington s army was saved by a storm. By then the
battle for independence seemed doomed the British General occupied New York Washington had
few men. However, on Christmas night 1776 General Washington decided to cross the Delaware
and launch a surprise attack on the Hessians camp at Trenton and succeeded, followed by the
victory in Princeton which marked two of his first victories. In the fall of 1777, general Howe

Comparing Isaiah 12 And The Definitions Of Marriage And...
The Duke of Wellington, the British military leader who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo, was not

live over again. Wellington thought for a moment, and then replied. I d give more praise, he said.

Cultural Proficiency Continuum In White Teacher, By Vivian...
Being culturally proficient means that you are able to effectively respond to issues that arise from
diversity in many cultural settings (Lindsey, Robins, Terrell, 2009). A person s level of cultural can
be described using the Cultural Proficiency Continuum (Lindsey et al, 2009). In the book White
Teacher, the author Vivian Gussin Paley, explores her experiences as a teacher and how these
experiences helped her gain cultural proficiency and move upwards on the cultural proficiency
continuum.
At the beginning of the book, Paley shares experiences that I believe indicate she was on the lower
end of the cultural continuum. Most often I notice her exhibiting cultural blindness and sometimes
cultural incapacity. For example, on page 8, Paley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of Paley operating at the higher end of the cultural proficiency continuum takes place
on pages 106 107 in White Teacher. Rena is a student that shares positive views of black peopleand
mostly negative views of white people. One negative view of white people that Rena held was that
white people tell lies (Paley, 2000, p. 104). Conversely, a positive view of black people that this
student shared was black people are the prettiest (Paley, 2000, p. 106). At the beginning of the
book, when Paley was mostly on the lower end of the continuum, I don t think Paley would have
addressed these comments. Or, she would have been too afraid to even bring up the topic.
However, by the time Rena is in her class she is able to address this student s views. On page 107,
Paley is able to have a conversation with Rena about how they see things differently and even asks
her which school she liked better, the black school or the integrated school. I think this encounter
demonstrates cultural precontence. Cultural precontence is being displayed because Paley is

expansion of trade into these new regions is by reason of technological advances and economic
growth and increasing numbers of consumers. o Companies of all sizes and kind can now

Examples Of Ethos In The Declaration Of Independence
Classical rhetoric considers that a speaker or writer has three appeals at his or her disposal: to
ethos (the standing of the writer or speaker), to pathos (emotion), and to logos (reason), divided into
deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning. (The Declaration) Jefferson s drafting of the
Declaration of Independence is based on three types of argument ethos, pathos, logos which are
modes of persuasion. They are also referred to as the three artistic proofs (Aristotlecoined the
terms), and are all represented by Greek words. (Holliday)
The principle of ethos is to prove to the audience/reader that the writer is a reasonable person and
is therefore credible. The writers of the Declaration of Independence establish their ethical
standing, that they are men of good sense, good character, and good will; first, by acknowledging
that they need to explain to the world the reasons for their actions. (The Declaration) Jefferson does
this very skillfully in the first line of the Declaration when he announces to the world that the
Declaration is written out of respect for those who must judge the rightness or wrongness of the
colonies decision to break with Great Britain: ...decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires
that they should declare the causes which impel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Rise Of Silas Lapham
Realism is the theory of writing in which the ordinary, familiar, or dull traits of life are portrayed
in a straight forward manner that reflects life as it actually is. Multiple works of literature show
some type of Realism. Realism started its rise in the United States in 1865 and ended in the
early 1900 s. Realistic writers would set their stories in specific American regions trying to
capture the local traditions before they would be forgotten. They wrote about the grim realities
of everyday life. These grim realities are shown in Mark Twain s The War Prayer. Twain exhibits
the truth about warfare and all the chaos that happens while fighting. Mark Twain was not blind
when it came to the realities of war in the United States. Mark Twain was not the only great
Realist of his time. William Dean Howells, Henry James, and George Eliot were other successful
Realist writers during the 19th Century. Howells was an early advocate of Realism. Howells wrote
The Rise of Silas Lapham, which was about how a farm boy became a millionaire but all of it
ended in a financial crash. George Eliot was another successful Realist writer. Eliot believed that
Realism was the writer s presentation of the commonplace. Eliot was also the author of

A Comparison Of Plato, Dover, And Plato

Plato, Dover, and Plato The response I ve chosen to expand and challenge is number four, partly
because its the only one I ve completed and in another part due to the incredibly complex subject
matter. Response four asks us to pick apart the characteristics K.Dover attributes to homosexuality
in classical Athens in comparison to Plato s definitions in Symposium. I discovered that both
articles weren t defining the same things; while Dover was speaking about the literal act, Plato
touches on the more philosophical aspects of the acts the moral implications. I m going to focus
and expand on the specific aspect of domination in sexual relationships by bringing in the
complicated, and flippant, context of The Republic s Book 5 also by Plato. I believe that this
text can add a competing idea, the ideal city containing equality, complicating the hierarchy and
bringing in a more wholistic view of the ideals. In his text Greek Homosexuality, Dover
describes the roles of the active and passive lover, defined by the age of the men. The older
erastes, who is considered the dominant lover, and the younger eromenos, as the passive beloved.
This demonstrates the hierarchy that is established between homosexual lovers (Dover 16). After
the eromenos reaches a stage in his life where he becomes a man, his role is then switched to the
erastes, giving him the ability to look for his own eromenos. If a boy

A Reflection On The Bereavement Period
Death may be seen as one s final journey in life. As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary
(n.d.), death is the permanent cessation of all vital organ systems, specifically the circulatory and
respiratory systems. Throughout the dying process, nurses play a vital role in caring for both the
patient as well as their family. In order to properly and effectively care for the dying patient and
their family, the nurse must first examine their beliefs and feelings regarding death and the dying
process. It is important to have a deep understanding that while all people may experience grief
with the loss of a loved one, how that grief is expressed may be influenced by many different
factors. This paper will define and explain the bereavement period, the nurse s role in
disenfranchised grief, as well as the four tasks of mourning.
Bereavement Period The bereavement period is the public or external display of mourning
following the death of a loved one. Bereavement is a vital, yet often overlooked, area of care.
Cooley (1992) proves that the earlier interventions are started, negative outcomes of grief are
minimized. The bereavement period is often an unpredictable and complex style of care that
requires continuous adjustment for the nurse (Johnson, 2015). When experiencing bereavement, it
can be seen as one trying to adjust to the loss of a loved one (Cooley, 1992). The length of the
bereavement period often depends on several factors such as the age at the time of loss, the

Public And Private Distinction At York University
Public/Private Distinction
John Locke s functionalist separation of church and state differentiates between the private and the
public. The state is considered to be a public space whereas churches are private spaces. This
distinction can also be applied to universities. York University is considered a public institution and
therefore a public place. As a result, students may not have the same level of individual liberty that
they would in a private domain. In the context of our religious accommodation dilemma, the
religious student may not be fully entitled to have their request for pairing with a fellow female
student upheld. This is because the private and public distinction places limitations on the personal

When adversity stares people in the face, do they run away from it, or do they have the willpower

able to take note of the struggles and hardships of the Irish people at a time when their once
prosperous Dublin city was in retrograde. He took all the emotions and angers that his people had
during this period in time, and summed it up into fifteen short stories. Throughout these stories
Joyce places his characters into situations that leave them in constant states of dishevelment and

Comparison Between Confucianism And Taoism
Confucianism and Taoism are often referred to as rival philosophies. Both religions emerged in
ancient China around 5th 4th century BCE. Confucianism was founded by Kong Qui, otherwise
known as Confucius(Harbsmeier, 2013). Taoism was founded by Lao Tzu. Both of these founders
are considered two of the most influential philosophers and spiritual leaders native to China. Both
emerged as a result of the fall of the Zhou Dynasty (Sellman, 2006). Both of these religions
encourage their followers to live well rounded lives. Taoism is centered in nature and how it can
make one s life better and Confucianismis based on harmony with society.
Confucianism is both a philosophy and a religion (Mei, 2017). Confucianism is focused on setting
a good example (Harbsmeier, 2013). This is done through five relationships; ruler and subject,
wife and husband, older and younger sibling, friend and friend and father and son (Mei, 2017). It
is an all encompassing way of life focused on morals, humanity and ethics, and teaches that each
person should behave virtuously in every social setting (Mei, 2017). In contrast, Taoism focuses
on living harmoniously with everyone. Taoism is also considered a philosophy and a religion
which reaches into every aspect of an adherent s life (White Paper, 2003). Taoism is based on the
idea that the universe and everything in it moves because of a mysterious force or control known
as the Tao (Sellman, 2006). Tao is also used to describe human

Patience In Disney World
It takes great patience and love in order to make the kind of progress that benefits everyone.
(Mashos) Patience is a needed characteristic in today s society. An example of patience would be
my trip to Disney World when I was seven years old. When my parents sprung the surprise that
we would be going to Disney World, the trip itself was still a month and a half out. That month
and a half was the longest of my entire life. I was so excited and it seemed so far away. Finally
the day came and I woke up a ball of sunshine, Everyone wake up! It s Disney day, it s Disney
day! We packed our bags frantically figuring out what was important to bring and what was not,
and then we drove to the airport with the anticipation buzzing in the air. Meanwhile at the airport
we proceeded to wait an additional hour to get through security and wait for the plane to be ready
to board. On the plane we flew for 3 hours and landed in Orlando, Florida, which is a relatively
short drive from Disney World itself. My family and I were... Show more content on

fascinating park, since all three of us children were entirely absorbed by the animals and the
sights and the hundreds if not thousands of people we saw. We had no idea what patience was
until we actually attempted to ride some of those rides. There was a jungle safari ride in which
we could go on a boat on a man made river and hear a story and see some wildlife. We were
weaving back and forth through rope barriers listening to the conversations of people around us as
we dutifully awaited our turn, like soldiers preparing for battle. Meanwhile the actual ride was
maybe ten to fifteen minutes long. The wait was excruciating, but after we got on the ride, we saw
why it was such a tedious wait, the memory later on was worth

Surviving in bed
Erectile dysfunction also known as impotence is a condition that a number of men face but few
can dare talk about, maybe it s because it seems to be quite embarrassing. The truth is this
condition can actually be fixed or at least managed and one does not necessarily require pills or
pumps. There is simply a diet plan that one can take, found in the book Coming Back To Manhood
and it helps cure this condition. There are two testimonials that I came across, about people who
have used the diet plan in this book, that made me realise that erectile dysfunction is not something
that should make a man feel like it s the end of their life.
The first testimonial is by John(not his real name).

Income Tax In The United States
If you are a working American Citizen, you pay income tax. We are so used to the income tax
that we do not even look at that part of our pay checks anymore. When we discuss our pay with
friends or family we refer to it as our take home pay not what we actually earn. Next time you

and some areas have local income tax. Do not forget about Social Security tax and Medicare.
Now, imagine that the income taxes were erased from your paycheck. That s a big difference, is it
not? Actually getting the money you earn. That is the reason I am an advocate of the Fair Tax

U.s. Investment Abroad And Foreign Direct Investment
Abstract
With recent technology advancements and globalization process, there exists more cases of
domestic capital invested into foreign domains to exploit foreign markets. This paper aims to study
the effect of U.S. direct investment abroad, and foreign direct investment (FDI) in the U.S. on the
unemployment rate in U.S. A dummy variable will be tailored to explain the impact of the 2008
financial crisis and its spill over effect in to 2009, in relation to the overall quarterly time series data
from 1994 to 2014. Multiple linear regression results confirm while both foreign direct investments
and U.S. investments abroad are critical components in the model, FDI is comparatively more
important determining unemployment rate.
Introduction
The Globalization process have provided many benefits for both developed countries and
developing countries. With recent breakdowns of economic barriers for countries to have easy
access of foreign investment capital, developed countries such as the U.S. have the opportunity to
explore immature markets, while developing countries will receive the financial resources,
advanced technology, and managerial skills necessary for a faster pace of economic development.
Foreign direct investment by multinational corporations is the action of obtaining controlling
equity share of a firm in a foreign country. There has been many discussions about the role of FDI
in affecting a country s unemployment rate and economic growth. Of which many believed

The Role Of Textile In Early Civilization
2. In early civilization, it was normal for those who hunted to use the skins of animals as a
covering. As people began depending more upon agriculture, this changed. Textiles were a needed
product. Women spun the yarn by using a distaff and spindle. She held the distaff which was a
long rod that held the loose fibers, along with the spindle, a little rod that revolved as she let it fall.
This way of spinning, twisted the yarnas it was wound. Women had simplified this process to
allow them to accomplish other tasks at the same time they spun the yarn. Once the yarn was spun,
both men and women would help weave the cloth for clothing. Many peoples in early civilizations
used the fleece of sheep and goats. Many raised their sheep especially

Marina Kunert s Big Bang Theory
Big Bang Theory is a humorous drama based on situations that might arise in day to day life,
otherwise known as a situational comedy. The television show is based on the social lives of
four friends who are professors, and socially classed as Nerds. It is presumptuous on first
encounter that the show will present with all the similarities of the 80 s hit movies Revenge of the
Nerds. In fact, their daily interactions mimic those fashioned as such. They exemplify social
awkwardness, sexual failure and mathematical intelligence, all characteristics of a nerd, discussed

between them and other people, makes them very interesting people.

Penny being a part of Big Bang Theory brings common sense and social interaction into their
otherwise, socially disconnected environment. The series starts with Penny, the attractive neighbor,
moves in next to the nerds Leonard and Sheldon and immediately becomes a potential love

a romantic relationship. However, they all seem to form a circle of friendship. Idealized images of
relationships can create a more positive image about relationships (Kunert, p. 11). The link
between two people can shift from being friends to being lovers and vice versa. On the Big Bang

The Characteristic Of Decisions In Steinbeck s Of Mice And...
The ability to make decisions and choices is a defining characteristic of humanity. Decisions
define us, and they reveal to the world our values, motivations, and desires. As renowned author
J.K Rowling once wrote, It is our choices... that show what we truly are (Rowling 333). This
concept is one that can be readily observed in history, literature, and society and it is especially
prevalent in Steinbeck s novella, Of Mice and Men. The decisions that individuals make in both
fiction and the real world, can reveal characteristics of themselves that even they do not know. In
Of Mice and Men, the first defining decision that reveals a character s personality is Candy s
decision to forego shooting his dog. In the story, Candy is forced to make a difficult choice: to
either kill his old, seemingly useless dog himself, or to let someone else do it. Ultimately, Candy
succumbs to pressure from his fellow ranchers and he reluctantly lets someone else kill his
beloved companion. When this impetuous decision is dissected, Candy s demeanor, values, and
varying characteristics are revealed. Initially, when the idea of killing Candy s dog is brought up
by Carlson, Candy immediately dismisses it saying, You ain t got no gun... [m]aybe tomorra
(Steinbeck 47). However, when this idea is suggested just one more time, Candy agrees. This entire
interaction shows that Candy is extremely compliant and acquiescent in his demeanor. He shies
away from conflict and he will quickly change his own

RNA Interference in Biotechnology and Pharmacetics Essay
Almost all biology students learn the fundamentals of gene expression, DNA contains information
which is transcribed into RNA to create protein. Students however, are not taught of RNA
Interference, the biological process where RNA molecules inhibit a gene s expression, RNAi for
short. While RNAi is a fairly new discovery, its use in modern biological research is
groundbreaking. RNAInterference works by binding Double stranded RNA molecules (siRNA) to a
complementary messenger RNA. The enzymes Dicer and Slicer then cleave the chemical bonds
which hold the messeger RNA in place and prevent it from delivering protein silencing instructions
thus, the term, Gene Silencing. This phenomenon was first discovered by Richard Jorgensen in

average, 70% and a 40% decrease of LDL cholesterol levels. If the PCSK9 inhibition drug deems
successful it is still not sure whether the drug will perform well from a business aspect.
Another application of RNAi is in Parkinson s disease. Researchers at the National Institutes of
Health have successfully used RNA Interference to uncover several genes which possibly represent
new therapeutic targets for treating Parkinson s disease. These discoveries may also be useful to
other diseases cause by damage to the mitochondria. Researcher Richard Youle explains, we

The sixth mass extinction is on the way and could be as massive as the extinction that wiped out
the dinosaurs (Kolbert, 2014). Before learning more about the sixth mass extinction, you ll have
to first understand what biodiversity is and what will happen when you tamper with it.
According to Anup Shah, author of Why is Biodiversity Important? Who Cares, biodiversity
means the variety of life on Earth or in an ecosystem. Every species plays an important role in
the ecosystem or in the world, no matter how big or small. A way to incorporate this into easier
terms is the food chain or food web. Without a certain species in the cycle, you ll be losing

Altering the biodiversity could cause the loss of an environment such as the Malayan field rat
incident in the Chiew Larn islands. Laurance, William wrote the article, Islands of Extinction, which
speaks of the Chiew Larn and how the reservoir was flooded. Larger animals perished due to the
fact of how small Chiew Larn islands were during the flood. Chiew Larn island measures from 1
hectare, 2.5 acres, to 60 hectares, 148 acres. Some large animals such as tigers, deer, and
elephants might have disappeared into the forest surrounds the reservoir. Because of this flood, it
was easier for the Malayan field rat to come and invade the Chiew Larn islands. One of William
colleague, Tony Lynam, traveled and did an experiment on the Chiew Larn islands after the flood.
Tony s experiment was to use baited live traps to capture small mammals left on the island and ear
tags them. The result that Lynam had discovered was astounding because the native mammal
species had vanished within 10 hectares of the area (Laurance, 2014). The tragic change of the
environment had lost the once healthy and plentiful biodiversity in the area. This is the start of an
invader known as the Malayan field rat. A Malayan field rat, an adaptable species, can be compared
to the well and common known black rat. The Malayan field rat lives near human settlements and
agriculture. Luke Gibson, a Ph.D. student at the

Censorship In The Social Media Age
Censorship that has been in the world and in the United States, since the fifteenth century, has
grown sufficiently. Since many years have past subsequently film, radio, and different platforms of
social media have all been censored because more and more technology is not appropriate for kids.
Although many people think that censorshiphas changed the media platforms, it s actually the other
way around. Media platforms have changed censorship throughout the years by switching up social
media, news, government, and privacy concepts.
Social media has shaped censorship over the years by introducing new applications to our
phones and computers. One event that has shaped it was in 2016, when Dan Ilic s video was
taken down from a social media site a few second after Mr. Ilic posted it, the video had already
been on that same social media site in 2011 and was not taken down till then. Gourarie wrote this
article called Censorship in the Social Media Age which explains the events of Dan Ilic s video.
The video titled Is Labiaplasty the new fad? ... soon after clicking post the author received a
notice from the social media site that the video was removed and he was banned from logging in
for 24 hours. (Gourarie). This quote from Gourarie supports the claim by stating that the video was
put up, however, then taken down due to censoring people from the title.

Pros And Cons Of The Snail Darter
Did you know that many big rivers and lakes have dams to control the water flow? I grew up in a
place that did not have many big bodies of water which made it hard to really appreciate what
dams do to help the environment. However, the Tellico Dam is a controversial issue. The Tellico
Dam was a planned to be built by the Tennessee Valley Authority, but got delayed once they
discovered a endangered species. Where the government was allowing the Tennesseans to build the
dam, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, there was a small population of a rare species of fish, the Snail
Darter. The Snail Darter is a very small species of fish found in Eastern Tennessee freshwater. A
little bit larger than the average paperclip, this animal is part of the perch family and primarily
feeds on aquatic snails. The females can lay about 600 eggs a year. Found in shallow water, the
darters, in captivity, only live up to about four years and even less in the wild. Completing the
dam would likely wipe out the Snail Darters in that area, and the Darter could become an extinct
species. I believe that we should keep the Endangered Species Act strong to protect animal and
plant species such as the Darter. My reasons for this are that the act protects our native species,

Commentary On The Book Thief In The Orc By Triad
This short book had an interesting storytelling technique in that you just got thrown into the
middle of two men with a history together, and you really had no clue what was going on. Even
by the end of the book I still wasn t real clear what their past entailed and what they had meant to
each other or what they meant to each other by the end. JT, the orc, is a mechanic who I think
was a car thief in the past, and Austin, an elf, is still the same slick con man who he s always
been. Everything in this story is based on the men s backstory, but that backstory is never fully
conceptualized. There are brief flashbacks into the men s relationship (well, it was basically just
a sex scene), but they were a bit confusing as to time and place in relation to what is happening in
the present. Normally the only time I feel lost in a book is when it s a series and it s not a stand
alone book, but this book skated the edge in a lot of areas.

over dogs. Cats should have the freedom to be outdoors, not get blamed for the destruction of the

Analysis Of The Film Before Night Falls
The movie Before Night Falls directed by Julian Schnabel offers viewers a glimpse of how the
homosexual community in Cuba was being mistreated under Fidel Castro s regime. The true
story is told in the eyes of Cuban poet Reinaldo Arenas. The film depicts Arenas life in Cuba and
all of the awful experiences that he had to deal with as a homosexual. Eventually he was arrested
for false accusations of being a molester, however, he was actually under arrest for being a
homosexual. Between the 1930s and 1990s, the Communist Cubawas abusive to the LGBT
community as shown in their actions of harassment towards homosexuals, imprisoning the
homosexuals, or sending them to re education camps.
The harassment towards homosexuals in Cuba was apparent throughout the film Before Night
Falls. Reinaldo Arenas a Cuban Poet that grew up in a household that was not ideal. His father left
Arenas as a young child, forcing his mother to return to live with her parents. His grandfather shows
the first example of harassment towards homosexuals as he was furious when the teacher expressed
to Arenas grandfather that Arenas has a sensitivity for poetry. To his grandfather, he thought of
poetry as not being masculine. Eventually, Arenas grew up and discovered his sexuality.
Homosexuals in Cuba during this era were not pleasantly treated. They had to hide their
homosexuality because of fear from the police. The Cuban Police often times harassed the LGBT
community.
The film provides plenty of example

Organizational Dynamics of Implementing Business Intelligence Initiatives
Business intelligence is the ability of a business to be able to extract actionable insight from
business as well as market data, which is used to make better decisions in business; and to improve
the corporate performance of the business. Business intelligence must exist for businesses in the
world today to survive(Electrosmard Ltd). Almost every business today worth its salt is looking
for the appropriate business intelligence technology in order to survive in today s fiercely
competitive world. Business intelligence also helps companies and businesses to survive during
hard economic times. During such periods, it is not a surprise to find companies still spending on
the processes of business intelligence because without such solutions, there is no business at all. In
any case, there is a business; it is most likely on the decline in terms of productivity and revenues.
Business intelligence is not a onetime thing; it is an ongoing process. Business intelligence goes on
as long as the business is still running; the business intelligence continues to exist too.
Business intelligence involves techniques based on computers that are used in the identification,
extraction, as well as the analysis of business data(Electrosmart Ltd). The business data in this case
could be revenue from sales made from given products, could also be sales that a given department
has made, or

Advantages Of Bachelor Degree Vs Associate Degree
Are rising tuition costs reason enough for more people to choose Associate Degrees over
Bachelor Degrees? One of the most socially accepted path ways for students coming out of high
school is going to a four year college and earning a Bachelor Degree. Many, especially if attending a
college prep school like Punahou, view community collegeand the Associate Degree as a
downgrade or a waste of education and money. But truly an Associate Degree is just a stepping
stone for high school graduate s especially if they are undecided on a profession to go into.
When you truly look at the cost benefit analysis of the Associate Degree versus a Bachelor
Degree the results challenge the common expectation of a high school grad. An Associate
Degree should be used as a stepping stone on a student s way to getting a Bachelor and possibly
even a Master Degree in their study of choice. An Associate degree also is much more cost and
time effective. To top it all off earning an Associate Degree you have the ability to make more
money directly out of college than a student who earns a Bachelor Degree. One major reason
why people may start to choosing Associate Degrees is that an Associate can be used as a cheap
stepping stone on one s way to getting their Bachelor Degree or even Master s Degree. Many
people who can t go straight to a four year college, like Omer, start with an Associate degree to
get there starting credits. This way Omer can get a job and have some stability when they go to
try to apply for a bachelor program. An Associate Degree can help a student earn credits needed
to earn a Bachelor Degree. Many four year colleges allow transfer students from community
colleges to use their credits to put forth to earn a Bachelor Degree in some persons preferred
subject. A large advantage of an associate degree is that recipients are more likely to have taken
a structured set of courses leading to a degree in a program of study, and thus may have had an
easier time transferring their credits. This way earning an Associate degree does not put people
behind in their pursuit of a better degree. When looking at the opportunity cost of a two year
Associate degree and a four year Bachelor degree it begins to make more sense to

Personnel Of The Initial Digital Forensics Lab Staffing
Personnel. The personnel requirements of the initial digital forensics lab staffing must be
considered the most expensive aspect of the proposal. Personnel costs can be directly linked to
the experience level, skill sets required, geographic location, and expected level of professional
certification or qualification of the individual team members based on the roles to be filled.
This section of the proposal will look at personnel from two perspectives, position description
qualifications and overall cost against budget. Position descriptions. The below position
descriptions are provided with the expected experience level of the personnel to be employed, in
parentheses, and estimated man years per employee. Estimates are based on the total annual
man hours expected to be expended in support of digital forensic lab related functions as defined
by job skills and labor categories. Lab manager (Subject Matter Expert) (1).The Lab Manager

Descriptive Adjectives And Dialogue In The Pigman By Paul...
Description begins in the writer s imagination but should end in the reader s. Writing good
dialogue is art as well as craft. Descriptive adjectives really help the readers see what it s like to
be in the story and imagine what the characters look like and feel like at that moment. Dialogue
helps the reader see the story from their point of view and shows us what they think of something
else. In the story The Pigmanby Paul Zindel, the author uses descriptive adjectives and dialogue to
develop the story. Without descriptive adjectives, the reader won t be able to see or imagine
how the characters look like, how the setting is described and you won t be able to know the
characters emotion. Six feet tall, longish brown hair and blue eyes. As you can see, this helps
the readers visualize how that character looks like so without descriptive adjectives, you
wouldn t be able to imagine how the character looks. He was in his late fifties and was pretty big,
and he had a bit of a beer stomach. From this quote you can see this shows he s old and don t
take care of himself as much, so you can see how the character is like and act with descriptive
adjective. At the top of the stairs was this plain old bathroom with a shower curtain that had all
kinds of fish designs on it... The ceiling slanted on the far side, and there was only one window.
After looking at this quote, you can tell that without descriptive adjectives you won t be able to
visualize the setting which can connect to how the characters feel in a way. To break this all
down, without descriptive adjectives it would leave us clueless and confused because we won t
know anything about the characters(looks, emotions) and setting which would make the story
perplexing and complicated. Dialogue is important because it helps us see things from the
characters point of view, and we know what they think of something or someone else based on
what they say and think. If Freud smokes, why can t I? Freud doesn t smoke anymore I told him.
He s dead. This shows that John is a witty young man with a strong attitude. So without dialogue
you can t really say much about the characters, and how they re like like it shows in the quote. I m
thinking of becoming an

Gojira Symbolism
As the monster Gojira came lumbering over the buildings of Tokyo on the big screen in 1954,
director Ishiro Honda saw his dream of seeing a film focused on the devastation of nuclear
weapons play out. Although, his film could not clearly be about the devastation, his symbolism of
the monster as the atomic bomb was clear to all Japanese, even if it was not clear to foreigners
viewing the film. The film, Gojira, and its many reiterations over the years, is a result of the atomic
attacks that took place almost a decade previous, the following occupation and continued use of
nuclear weapons by the United States, the lingering anxieties had towards these nuclear weapons
and the censorship that encased Japan after the United States occupation. As... Show more content

Both these events rocked the country and its citizens, leaving many with lingering anxieties
over the threat of atomic bombs. These anxieties were not helped by the United States continued
use and testing of these weapons in Japan. Just a couple years before the film was released, the
United States dropped their first H bomb on a small Japanese island. Additionally, in 1954 the
United States dropped another H bomb, that exposed a boat, Daigo FukuryЕ« Maru, and its
crew to high amounts of radiation. (Noriega 1987:65) This disaster is shown in the opening
scene of Gojira, a scene that would be recognizable to all Japanese watching the film. Honda, like
many Japanese shared these anxieties over the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized
that he could not make a film explicitly about these weapons. (also about the guilt of americans by
showing tis scene.)This was due to the censorship laws under the occupation. This censorship did
not allow media to criticize the United States, (Rosenfeld 2002:86) and if Honda had explicitly
made a film of the aftermath of the United States attack on Japan, it would be a criticism. There
was no outlet for these concerns because this, which lingered even after they left the country, hence
why Honda posed the atomic threat as a monster in his

The Pros And Cons Of Bankruptcy
Premise of enacting the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 came into force in August 2016. It is believed that
the acid test for the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 would come when the case involving
Kolkata based Nico Industries is adjudicated. The adjudication process signals whether a sick
company can be shut down within 180 days of the case being registered. While more than 1000
applications have been filed, 100 of them have been admitted by the arbiter in the National
Company Law Tribunal or NCLT that is expected to decide the fate of these non financial firms
within 180 days. That aside, one begs to examine the nitty gritties of the Code itself.
What is Bankruptcy?
Firstly, we must define as to what bankruptcy is? Bankruptcy is a legal status imposed by a firm
or individual unable to meet obligations. Before the passing of the Bankruptcy Code, the legal
framework in India with regard to this sphere suffered from a lack of clarity and certainty in
jurisdictions. Decisions were often appealed, overstayed or overturned by judicial forums with
concurrent jurisdictions. This has led to unnecessary delays often leading to misuse of this
shortcoming by debtors. Therefore in this regard, the need for a new legislation was recognised.
There were many reasons for this;

Free Bus Rides
Topic: Should the elderly receive free bus rides?
My opinion: yes!
Free Bus Rides for The Elderly
Should the elderly receive free bus rides? This is a controversial issue that many countries are
faced with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into
consideration. Some people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have right to
benefit the giving back from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the
other hand, some disapproval voices emerge in terms of influence of social economy or unequal
treatment between the elderly and the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly
should receive free bus rides are lacking of finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting
public transportations. A lack of finance is the first reason that the elderly should receive free bus
rides. A majority of elderly is limited in their finance after they got retired; they are sometimes
even not able to pay their fundamental living needs such as medicine and groceries. According to
the U.S. Census Bureau, 12% seniors are living at the poverty level, and their income become
lower and lower with increasing age; therefore, they would have difficulty in their constant
expenses such as healthcare, housing, food, and so on. About 14.2% of all these expenses are spent
on transportation. The National Council on Aging shows as well that the elderly are struggling with
housing and health bills, lack of access to

Osmosis Lab Report
First you must define what diffusion is, diffusion is when molecules in a solute spread from high
concentrated areas into lower concentrated areas, without outside forces acting upon it. Diffusion is
affected by molecular kinetic energy, diffusion can also occur in all three states of matter. Now you
must define osmosis, osmosis is similar to diffusionbut is when water molecules pass through a
semi permeable from the less concentrated solution to the more concentrated solution. In cells
osmosis is not only affected by the concentrationof the solute but also by the resistance of the water
movement. The words hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic are used to describe the different
concentrations in these membranes. .A hypertonic solution has... Show more content on

You then take the final mass minus the original divided by the original mass and get the percent
of the mass change. You can then conclude that when the egg is in a hypertonic solution such as
corn syrup, water will leave the cell. You should even be able to see a layer of water laying on
top of the corn syrup to back up your conclusion. One drawl back to this lab is you can break the
egg if you are not careful with it after you take the hard shell off. If it is dropped there is a great
possibility that it will break due to the force of the fall. Also if you didn t want to have uneven
results or have a wide margin of error you would have to make sure that the water, vinegar, and
corn syrup are all the same amounts. You would also want to make sure the eggs are the same
size and same brand. You would also want to make sure the cups you use are uniform, that they
are the same size and same width. The same scale must also be used to weigh the eggs. Also you
would need to make sure that each of the eggs are kept at the same temperature. If you don t do
these things then you could end up with inconclusive results, this is because if you use to many
different things you will have to many variables to keep track of which will get confusing and

CAA Rating
The Classification and Rating Administration (CARA) is a purely voluntary system supported
by The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and the National Association of Theatre
Owners (Crecente). The CARA is funded by film distributors and producers who pay a fee to
have their film rated ( MPAA Movie Ratings ). The debate on whether the CARA system works
or not is highly debatable. I, personally, think that the system is very functional. This system
provides parents and other audiences with a recommended rating for a movie. It is a person s
choice on whether or not to deem that rating as appropriate enough for children or others but, they
at least have a general idea or understanding of what the film could entail. The CARA system rates
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, not having the film rated does make it more difficult when putting it into theaters. Many
U.S. theaters use the rating system when showing movies and an unrated movie may not be
allowed ( What Do Movie ). Another great thing about the CARA rating system is that they give
their rating feedback to the producer of the film, this allows the producer to make changes to the
film, if they decide to, as a way of changing the rating before it enters theaters (Crecente). DVDs
are also supposed to stay with the same rating when released as the film was in theaters, because
they are not considered separate products ( MPAA Movie Ratings ). In 2007, The Federal Trade
Commission described the CARA rating system as a useful and important tool that parents
increasingly use to help them make informed decisions (qtd in Crecente). I also think that the
CARA system is a valuable and functional resource. This system allows audiences the guidelines
to the content of movies. Displaying evidence to an audience of what they can expect from a film.
The CARA rating system truly is a great tool to be utilized by all audiences when deciding on what
to watch at the movies, or at

Boy Scouts Expectations
When I was in the sixth grade I decided to join the boy scouts, my reasoning was simple. I
thought it would be beneficial when I would apply to High Schools and it would look
paramount on my resume. I also thought that it would be a great opportunity to learn and
develop more qualities within myself. I learned numerous life skills and procedures that will play
an important role in specific scenarios that will occur throughout my life time. Gaining all this
excess knowledge will only expand my mindset and create a better version of me. Currently I am
in the eighth grade and my reasoning has changed dramatically. While some of my peers have
made the choice to leave the boy scouts, I have remained steadfast in my quest to become and eagle

Essay on Smoke signals
The movie Smoke Signal is a story that portrays what a Native American really means. It is a
movie based on story written by Sherman Alexie. Thomas is the narrator of the story. It s just not
a simple movie but it has meaning to it, which is the best thing about the movie. It shows the life
of Indians and how their life was and what they had to deal with. The movie has two main
characters name Victor and Thomas. The movie starts with a house that goes on fire and the man

he was a baby, his dad always wanted to help him and he did went back to save his life. This hits on
his mind and he decides to get help for the lady. His thoughts about his dad changes. At the end of
the movie Victor disperses the remains of his father in the river and forgives him for what he did
before.
I really like the movie and the story was very different than any other movies. Sherman s way of
writing the stories seems very unique and could not tell what would happen next in the movie.
When Victor knew about his father s death I was thinking he would not go to Phoenix to get his
remains since he had hatred towards him but he decides to go which was surprising. It was always
funny how Thomas kept telling stories about different stuffs to Victor even though he knew Victor
don t like to hear them. The author has tried to show the culture of Indians, the thoughts of people,
how they dealt their life through his stories which I really found interesting and something
different to learn. The author has showed how life was back then and I liked the fact he tried to
show what impact it can have to a child s mind if he sees his father drinking alcohol and tormenting
his mother

  • 2. The Meaning Of Shakespeare In The Bush By Laura Bohannan No one piece of writing could ever be universally understood, especially a Shakespearean play. The themes and meanings of Shakespearean plays have been in always been in debate and most likely always will be because not only does a reader s societal background and experiences change how they might interpret a piece of writing, but in addition, Shakespearean plays are written in a way that is old and extremely difficult to understand. When Professor Laura Bohannan, an anthropologist who had spent many fellowships in her career conducting research in East Africa, visited a tribe of people called the Tiv of West Africa, she read Shakespeare s Hamlet , and believed the story had a very clear plot and that the understanding of the story could not be interpreted multiple ways. In Bohannan s short story Shakespeare in the Bush, she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reading about the different explanations the Tiv had for why and how different aspects of Shakespeare s Hamlet s plot progressed was fascinating because even though they did not believe in ghosts or understood Hamlet s motives for wanting to kill King Claudius, the Tiv people still used their wisdom to determine what they believed is the most intelligent interpretation of Hamlet and gained some wisdom from hearing the story. When Shakespeare wrote Hamlet, I m sure he had a hope that the story would be interpreted a specific way, but I think the fact that even though the Tiv people didn t receive the same message from Hamlet as Shakespeare would have liked them to, it is still significant that the Tiv people gained knowledge and entertainment from hearing the story, which is really what any storyteller like Shakespeare should ask ... • 3. The Great Gatsby Comparative Essay In both stories, The Great Gatsby and Women at Point Zero, the authors illustrated the readers what precise details meant to them. Throughout each novel, there were multiple examples of how to express special moments. Some examples include theme, symbols, motifs, or meaningful messages. With these ideas in mind, the authors helped readers to interpret them and analyze them to find solutions as they continue to read the novel. In the novel, The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald studied the meaning of details. Some include the setting of the novel, or the colors of certain objects in a scenery, or simply hidden symbols. Throughout the story, the setting was a major cause. The novel took place around the 1920s. During the early twentieth century, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Good Afternoon Tracey Analysis Good Afternoon Tracey, I hope you re having a great day! I wanted to reach out to say that it was a quite overwhelming and emotional to see you last weekend. Although, I truly have love and appreciation for you on many levels, I also have hurt feelings about our last professional interaction. I ve cleared my conscience and apologized to folks for the role I played in our fall out they did not (I didn t expect them to). I doubt that she s apologized to you for positioning you to play a main role in my departure (y all might have even discussed how I should have been gone sooner who knows?) You may never speak up about how you really feel. That takes courage and strength. At any rate, I have always wondered and even tried to rationalize how it made sense for you to keep the lie and not fess up to the fact that you allowed the conflict to continue and you never told the truth about letting me leave SHIFT early which caused the questions about my whereabouts and ultimately me being fired from DF. God provides. I know you were pulled into lots of mess, but you made a choice. I also made some choices. It s life. I don t fault you alone, I just wish that you had told them the truth. • 5. The Bobo Doll Experiment Importance In Psychology Bobo Doll Experiment Importance in Psychology The Bobo Doll Experiment was an experiment conducted by Albert Bandura and his colleagues. The experiment was to overall find results to the question, do children act aggressively if they grow up watching aggressive behavior? The conductor gathered participants for the study and got results showing that yes, children do tend to act more aggressive when they grow up around adults acting in an aggressive behavior. Bandura believed that children get their behaviors by the behaviors they watch, and after he performed his study, his results were believed to be supportive of his hypothesis. What is this Study? The Bobo Doll Experiment reveals how children imitate TV violence and the behavior of others. Albert Bandura was the man who conducted the study of The Bobo Doll Experiment. He studied children s behavior in the years of 1961 and 1963. He decided to watch the children s behaviors after he watched an adult act hostile towards a Bobo doll. A Bobo doll is a toy that gets up by itself after it is knocked down. Why did Bandura Study this? Bandura and his colleagues, the scientists of the Bobo Doll Experiment, believed there was some reason children learned the behaviors that was important to them in their lives. Bandura anticipated that children that viewed aggressive models would behave in a similar fashion as the model and those that had non aggressive models would behave in the same fashion and not have aggressive actions (Green, 1961). The purpose of this experiment was to demonstrate one of the ways children learned aggression. The researchers were hoping to find the proof that children learned aggression from viewing it by another person. What did the Researchers do Who was Involved? The researches of this experiment used a lab experiment. They gathered the participants that fit their needs for the information needed for the experiment to get accurate results. The researchers accumulated 36 boys and 36 girls, ages 37 to 69 months. There were also two adults involved, male and female. Twenty four of the children had an aggressive male and female role model. Twenty four of the children had a non aggressive male and female role model. The last twenty four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Popularity Of Guitar And The Phenomenal Success Of The... The rise in popularity of guitar bands and the phenomenal success of the Guitar Hero video game franchise has lead to more and more people picking up the guitar recently. Sales of guitars in the UK has hit an all time high in the past three years and as more and more people are starting to play, the guitarhas surpassed the piano as the most widely learned instrument in schools. With all these people learning I thought I d pass on some tips from my 10 years of experience playing guitar and help point people in the right direction as they start learning their technique. In this article I ve listed some things that I feel are very important to playing well but are often overlooked by those just starting out. If you re a seasoned player then there won t be much here for you, but if you re new to playing guitar then hopefully I can help out and perhaps shed some light on things you maybe hadn t thought about before. Theory The one factor that has improved my guitar playing beyond any other was taking the time out to learn the basics of music theory. Once you manage to break out of the pentatonic scales so overly used by rock guitarists you ll find that your song writing and improvisation will come on in leaps and bounds. Believe it or not, by learning the scales you ll actually become far more free than when you didn t know them. Ironically, learning the rules of music has left me much more open to play expressively than before. Don t forget that once you know them, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Last Dynasty Of Isin From 1975 to 1954 BCE, Iddin Dagan ruled the city of Isin, which is located a little south of Nippur. Iddin Dagan is loved by the gods, especially An, Enki, and Enlil. Because these three gods favored Iddin Dagan, he was able to have a successful ruling, filled with abundance of agriculture, a population increase, and a strong military presence. Ultimately, this shows that religion fuels power, and without a strong religious presence the ruler would not have an impactful kingship, which truly benefits the people of his realm. Isin is the last dynasty that is mentioned in the Sumerian King List. Iddin Dagan was the third king of the first dynasty of Isin. During the twentieth and nineteenth centuries, decentralizing forces were strong, which led to an increasing number of local dynasties to come to power, such as the Isin dynasty (Vdm, 90, document 5.2). The dynasty of Isin was started by Ishbi Erra, when he freed the city of Ur and brought the local dynasty to Isin. Ishbi Erra continued a lot of the same practices of the Ur III dynasty in the Isin dynasty. This document, A Praise Poem of Iddin Dagan, is considered Sumerian royal praise poetry, which often depicted and praised the various achievements, strengths and accomplishments of rulers in the ancient Near East. Royal praise poetry can be used to analyze the legitimacy of a king and how he ruled, how his people felt about him, and his relationship with the gods. Strong and successful kings tended to have a close ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tenochtitlan Essay Commerce: In the days of Tenochtitlan s true glory and magnificence, food was very hard to come by because the land on which the city was built was not the most ideal place to harvest crops. Because of this fact, the inhabitants of Tenochtitlan were forced to look to foreign trade to keep their food supplies from running out. The markets in Tenochtitlan were said to be trading daily with surrounding areas, as well as the Spanish, who, upon seeing the wonders that Tenochtitlan and its residents had to offer, traded much with them. The goods that were being developed in Tenochtitlan were ones that the Spaniards, and other cultures too for that matter, had never seen before. In the times of Tenochtitlan s actual greatness and heavenliness, nourishment was difficult to find in light of the fact that the arrive on which the city was fabricated was not the best place to reap crops. In view of this, the occupants of Tenochtitlan were compelled to look to remote exchange to keep their sustenance supplies from running out. The business sectors in Tenochtitlan were said to be exchanging every day with encompassing regions, and in addition the Spanish, who, after seeing the miracles that Tenochtitlan and its occupants brought to the table, exchanged much with them. In spite of being a human they are still lacking behind the rights they are supposed to get to develop themselves. The caste discrimination system has negatively affected Dalit society which has led to inadequate health facilities and education facilities and is still facing many problems in their daily life. This is, however, is affecting the people in term of personal growth, so in my honest opinion, the government of a country should focus more on Dalit people for their development. They should remove the dominance of higher caste in schools, as a result, it will lead to the increase in the number of participants of Dalit people. • 10. America s Independence Of Independence Essay July 4,1776 was the day America would declare its Independence from their mother country England. Thomas Jefferson drafts this Declaration of Independence using as a reference the Scottish declaration. Declaring Independence would mean war between the British empire and America . With only 35,000 poorly trained troops and 45,000 militias, no navy, small industry with few financial resources the U.S was able to defeat the British Empire which had 56,000 skilled redcoats, 30,000 hessians, 50,000 loyalists, a royal navy and lots of financial resources. So the question remains how exactly was the U.S able to win its independence against such a huge empire? The American revolutionaries shared a set of political and social values which in essence gave meaning to their actions. In September 1776 British army commander Sir William Howealong with his brother Richard Howe used 32,000 Hessians to attack the American Commander General Gorge Washington (pg.243). The brothers defeated Washington s army in several battles from Brooklyn Heights to New York where Washington s army was saved by a storm. By then the battle for independence seemed doomed the British General occupied New York Washington had few men. However, on Christmas night 1776 General Washington decided to cross the Delaware and launch a surprise attack on the Hessians camp at Trenton and succeeded, followed by the victory in Princeton which marked two of his first victories. • 11. Comparing Isaiah 12 And The Definitions Of Marriage And... The Duke of Wellington, the British military leader who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo, was not an easy man to serve under. He was brilliant, demanding, and not one to shower his subordinates with compliments. Yet even Wellington realized that his methods left something to be desired. In his old age a young lady asked him what, if anything, he would do differently if he had his life to live over again. Wellington thought for a moment, and then replied. I d give more praise, he said. What do you think about giving more praise? • 12. Cultural Proficiency Continuum In White Teacher, By Vivian... Being culturally proficient means that you are able to effectively respond to issues that arise from diversity in many cultural settings (Lindsey, Robins, Terrell, 2009). A person s level of cultural can be described using the Cultural Proficiency Continuum (Lindsey et al, 2009). In the book White Teacher, the author Vivian Gussin Paley, explores her experiences as a teacher and how these experiences helped her gain cultural proficiency and move upwards on the cultural proficiency continuum. At the beginning of the book, Paley shares experiences that I believe indicate she was on the lower end of the cultural continuum. Most often I notice her exhibiting cultural blindness and sometimes cultural incapacity. For example, on page 8, Paley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of Paley operating at the higher end of the cultural proficiency continuum takes place on pages 106 107 in White Teacher. Rena is a student that shares positive views of black peopleand mostly negative views of white people. One negative view of white people that Rena held was that white people tell lies (Paley, 2000, p. 104). Conversely, a positive view of black people that this student shared was black people are the prettiest (Paley, 2000, p. 106). At the beginning of the book, when Paley was mostly on the lower end of the continuum, I don t think Paley would have addressed these comments. Or, she would have been too afraid to even bring up the topic. However, by the time Rena is in her class she is able to address this student s views. On page 107, Paley is able to have a conversation with Rena about how they see things differently and even asks her which school she liked better, the black school or the integrated school. I think this encounter demonstrates cultural precontence. Cultural precontence is being displayed because Paley is addressing the cultural differences between this student and others in the class (Lindsey et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Dobbs, Manyika and Woetzel walk us through their theory and evidence, it is clear that their analysis is well founded and appropriate. Greater Global Connections Trade in Goods and Services o Trade today is not just located in North America and Western Europe; trade is now a complex web that includes Asia, Latin America and Africa. o South to South trade, meaning trade between developing countries, accounts for 40 percent of all goods flow. Finance o Money is the new commodity because of it ease of transference and makes trade possible. o As represented with trade, developing countries are starting to become a source of and just a receiver of capital flow; assets are ... Beginning with Joos van Cleve s work, we see the virgin Mary kneeling down before an opened book. An illuminated dove with its wings spread is suspended above Mary. An angel is standing beside her, making a gesture. Both figures are inside an ornately decorated, well lit bedroom. Mary is wearing a large, dark blue robe that rests upon the floor as she kneels. A portion of it is suspended onto the stand from which she reads a book. The book s pages are opened in an unrealistic manner, with a few pages seemingly stuck in one position. • 15. Examples Of Ethos In The Declaration Of Independence Classical rhetoric considers that a speaker or writer has three appeals at his or her disposal: to ethos (the standing of the writer or speaker), to pathos (emotion), and to logos (reason), divided into deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning. (The Declaration) Jefferson s drafting of the Declaration of Independence is based on three types of argument ethos, pathos, logos which are modes of persuasion. They are also referred to as the three artistic proofs (Aristotlecoined the terms), and are all represented by Greek words. (Holliday) The principle of ethos is to prove to the audience/reader that the writer is a reasonable person and is therefore credible. The writers of the Declaration of Independence establish their ethical standing, that they are men of good sense, good character, and good will; first, by acknowledging that they need to explain to the world the reasons for their actions. (The Declaration) Jefferson does this very skillfully in the first line of the Declaration when he announces to the world that the Declaration is written out of respect for those who must judge the rightness or wrongness of the colonies decision to break with Great Britain: ...decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel ... The Rise Of Silas Lapham Realism is the theory of writing in which the ordinary, familiar, or dull traits of life are portrayed in a straight forward manner that reflects life as it actually is. Multiple works of literature show some type of Realism. Realism started its rise in the United States in 1865 and ended in the early 1900 s. Realistic writers would set their stories in specific American regions trying to capture the local traditions before they would be forgotten. They wrote about the grim realities of everyday life. These grim realities are shown in Mark Twain s The War Prayer. Twain exhibits the truth about warfare and all the chaos that happens while fighting. Mark Twain was not blind when it came to the realities of war in the United States. Mark Twain was not the only great Realist of his time. William Dean Howells, Henry James, and George Eliot were other successful Realist writers during the 19th Century. Howells was an early advocate of Realism. Response four asks us to pick apart the characteristics K.Dover attributes to homosexuality in classical Athens in comparison to Plato s definitions in Symposium. I discovered that both articles weren t defining the same things; while Dover was speaking about the literal act, Plato touches on the more philosophical aspects of the acts the moral implications. I m going to focus and expand on the specific aspect of domination in sexual relationships by bringing in the complicated, and flippant, context of The Republic s Book 5 also by Plato. I believe that this text can add a competing idea, the ideal city containing equality, complicating the hierarchy and bringing in a more wholistic view of the ideals. In his text Greek Homosexuality, Dover describes the roles of the active and passive lover, defined by the age of the men. The older erastes, who is considered the dominant lover, and the younger eromenos, as the passive beloved. This demonstrates the hierarchy that is established between homosexual lovers (Dover 16). After the eromenos reaches a stage in his life where he becomes a man, his role is then switched to the erastes, giving him the ability to look for his own eromenos. If a boy ... • 19. A Reflection On The Bereavement Period Death may be seen as one s final journey in life. As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary (n.d.), death is the permanent cessation of all vital organ systems, specifically the circulatory and respiratory systems. Throughout the dying process, nurses play a vital role in caring for both the patient as well as their family. In order to properly and effectively care for the dying patient and their family, the nurse must first examine their beliefs and feelings regarding death and the dying process. It is important to have a deep understanding that while all people may experience grief with the loss of a loved one, how that grief is expressed may be influenced by many different factors. This paper will define and explain the bereavement period, the nurse s role in disenfranchised grief, as well as the four tasks of mourning. Bereavement Period The bereavement period is the public or external display of mourning following the death of a loved one. Bereavement is a vital, yet often overlooked, area of care. Cooley (1992) proves that the earlier interventions are started, negative outcomes of grief are minimized. The bereavement period is often an unpredictable and complex style of care that requires continuous adjustment for the nurse (Johnson, 2015). When experiencing bereavement, it can be seen as one trying to adjust to the loss of a loved one (Cooley, 1992). The length of the bereavement period often depends on several factors such as the age at the time of loss, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Confucianism was founded by Kong Qui, otherwise known as Confucius(Harbsmeier, 2013). Taoism was founded by Lao Tzu. Both of these founders are considered two of the most influential philosophers and spiritual leaders native to China. Both emerged as a result of the fall of the Zhou Dynasty (Sellman, 2006). Both of these religions encourage their followers to live well rounded lives. Taoism is centered in nature and how it can make one s life better and Confucianismis based on harmony with society. Confucianism is both a philosophy and a religion (Mei, 2017). Confucianism is focused on setting a good example (Harbsmeier, 2013). This is done through five relationships; ruler and subject, wife and husband, older and younger sibling, friend and friend and father and son (Mei, 2017). It is an all encompassing way of life focused on morals, humanity and ethics, and teaches that each person should behave virtuously in every social setting (Mei, 2017). In contrast, Taoism focuses on living harmoniously with everyone. Taoism is also considered a philosophy and a religion which reaches into every aspect of an adherent s life (White Paper, 2003). This concept is one that can be readily observed in history, literature, and society and it is especially prevalent in Steinbeck s novella, Of Mice and Men. The decisions that individuals make in both fiction and the real world, can reveal characteristics of themselves that even they do not know. Altering the biodiversity could cause the loss of an environment such as the Malayan field rat incident in the Chiew Larn islands. Laurance, William wrote the article, Islands of Extinction, which speaks of the Chiew Larn and how the reservoir was flooded. Larger animals perished due to the fact of how small Chiew Larn islands were during the flood. Chiew Larn island measures from 1 hectare, 2.5 acres, to 60 hectares, 148 acres. Some large animals such as tigers, deer, and elephants might have disappeared into the forest surrounds the reservoir. Tony s experiment was to use baited live traps to capture small mammals left on the island and ear tags them. The result that Lynam had discovered was astounding because the native mammal species had vanished within 10 hectares of the area (Laurance, 2014). The tragic change of the environment had lost the once healthy and plentiful biodiversity in the area. This is the start of an invader known as the Malayan field rat. • 34. Censorship In The Social Media Age Censorship that has been in the world and in the United States, since the fifteenth century, has grown sufficiently. Since many years have past subsequently film, radio, and different platforms of social media have all been censored because more and more technology is not appropriate for kids. Although many people think that censorshiphas changed the media platforms, it s actually the other way around. Media platforms have changed censorship throughout the years by switching up social media, news, government, and privacy concepts. Social media has shaped censorship over the years by introducing new applications to our phones and computers. One event that has shaped it was in 2016, when Dan Ilic s video was taken down from a social media site a few second after Mr. Ilic posted it, the video had already been on that same social media site in 2011 and was not taken down till then. Gourarie wrote this article called Censorship in the Social Media Age which explains the events of Dan Ilic s video. The video titled Is Labiaplasty the new fad? ... soon after clicking post the author received a notice from the social media site that the video was removed and he was banned from logging in for 24 hours. • 36. Pros And Cons Of The Snail Darter Did you know that many big rivers and lakes have dams to control the water flow? I grew up in a place that did not have many big bodies of water which made it hard to really appreciate what dams do to help the environment. However, the Tellico Dam is a controversial issue. The Tellico Dam was a planned to be built by the Tennessee Valley Authority, but got delayed once they discovered a endangered species. Where the government was allowing the Tennesseans to build the dam, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, there was a small population of a rare species of fish, the Snail Darter. The Snail Darter is a very small species of fish found in Eastern Tennessee freshwater. A little bit larger than the average paperclip, this animal is part of the perch family and primarily feeds on aquatic snails. The females can lay about 600 eggs a year. Found in shallow water, the darters, in captivity, only live up to about four years and even less in the wild. Completing the dam would likely wipe out the Snail Darters in that area, and the Darter could become an extinct species. I believe that we should keep the Endangered Species Act strong to protect animal and plant species such as the Darter. • 37. Commentary On The Book Thief In The Orc By Triad This short book had an interesting storytelling technique in that you just got thrown into the middle of two men with a history together, and you really had no clue what was going on. Even by the end of the book I still wasn t real clear what their past entailed and what they had meant to each other or what they meant to each other by the end. JT, the orc, is a mechanic who I think was a car thief in the past, and Austin, an elf, is still the same slick con man who he s always been. Everything in this story is based on the men s backstory, but that backstory is never fully conceptualized. There are brief flashbacks into the men s relationship (well, it was basically just a sex scene), but they were a bit confusing as to time and place in relation to what is happening in the present. Normally the only time I feel lost in a book is when it s a series and it s not a stand alone book, but this book skated the edge in a lot of areas. • 42. Advantages Of Bachelor Degree Vs Associate Degree Are rising tuition costs reason enough for more people to choose Associate Degrees over Bachelor Degrees? One of the most socially accepted path ways for students coming out of high school is going to a four year college and earning a Bachelor Degree. Many, especially if attending a college prep school like Punahou, view community collegeand the Associate Degree as a downgrade or a waste of education and money. But truly an Associate Degree is just a stepping stone for high school graduate s especially if they are undecided on a profession to go into. When you truly look at the cost benefit analysis of the Associate Degree versus a Bachelor Degree the results challenge the common expectation of a high school grad. An Associate Degree should be used as a stepping stone on a student s way to getting a Bachelor and possibly even a Master Degree in their study of choice. An Associate degree also is much more cost and time effective. To top it all off earning an Associate Degree you have the ability to make more money directly out of college than a student who earns a Bachelor Degree. One major reason why people may start to choosing Associate Degrees is that an Associate can be used as a cheap stepping stone on one s way to getting their Bachelor Degree or even Master s Degree. Many people who can t go straight to a four year college, like Omer, start with an Associate degree to get there starting credits. This way Omer can get a job and have some stability when they go to try to apply for a bachelor program. An Associate Degree can help a student earn credits needed to earn a Bachelor Degree. Many four year colleges allow transfer students from community colleges to use their credits to put forth to earn a Bachelor Degree in some persons preferred subject. A large advantage of an associate degree is that recipients are more likely to have taken a structured set of courses leading to a degree in a program of study, and thus may have had an easier time transferring their credits. This way earning an Associate degree does not put people behind in their pursuit of a better degree. • 44. Descriptive Adjectives And Dialogue In The Pigman By Paul... Description begins in the writer s imagination but should end in the reader s. Writing good dialogue is art as well as craft. Descriptive adjectives really help the readers see what it s like to be in the story and imagine what the characters look like and feel like at that moment. Dialogue helps the reader see the story from their point of view and shows us what they think of something else. In the story The Pigmanby Paul Zindel, the author uses descriptive adjectives and dialogue to develop the story. Without descriptive adjectives, the reader won t be able to see or imagine how the characters look like, how the setting is described and you won t be able to know the characters emotion. Six feet tall, longish brown hair and blue eyes. As you can see, this helps the readers visualize how that character looks like so without descriptive adjectives, you wouldn t be able to imagine how the character looks. He was in his late fifties and was pretty big, and he had a bit of a beer stomach. From this quote you can see this shows he s old and don t take care of himself as much, so you can see how the character is like and act with descriptive adjective. At the top of the stairs was this plain old bathroom with a shower curtain that had all kinds of fish designs on it... The ceiling slanted on the far side, and there was only one window. After looking at this quote, you can tell that without descriptive adjectives you won t be able to visualize the setting which can connect to how the characters feel in a way. To break this all down, without descriptive adjectives it would leave us clueless and confused because we won t know anything about the characters(looks, emotions) and setting which would make the story perplexing and complicated. Dialogue is important because it helps us see things from the characters point of view, and we know what they think of something or someone else based on what they say and think. If Freud smokes, why can t I? Freud doesn t smoke anymore I told him. He s dead. This shows that John is a witty young man with a strong attitude. Honda, like many Japanese shared these anxieties over the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized that he could not make a film explicitly about these weapons. Bankruptcy is a legal status imposed by a firm or individual unable to meet obligations. Before the passing of the Bankruptcy Code, the legal framework in India with regard to this sphere suffered from a lack of clarity and certainty in jurisdictions. This is a controversial issue that many countries are faced with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into consideration. Some people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have right to benefit the giving back from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other hand, some disapproval voices emerge in terms of influence of social economy or unequal treatment between the elderly and the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should receive free bus rides are lacking of finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public transportations. A lack of finance is the first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides. A majority of elderly is limited in their finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even not able to pay their fundamental living needs such as medicine and groceries. The movie starts with a house that goes on fire and the man (Arnold Joseph) Victor s father saves Thomas and Victor from the fire Victor the main character plays the role of a typical Indian who has hatred towards his father for leaving him and his mother when he was little. Victor remembers what Suzy said him about his dad that in the fire that took place when he was a baby, his dad always wanted to help him and he did went back to save his life. This hits on his mind and he decides to get help for the lady. His thoughts about his dad changes. At the end of the movie Victor disperses the remains of his father in the river and forgives him for what he did before. I really like the movie and the story was very different than any other movies. Sherman s way of writing the stories seems very unique and could not tell what would happen next in the movie. When Victor knew about his father s death I was thinking he would not go to Phoenix to get his remains since he had hatred towards him but he decides to go which was surprising. It was always funny how Thomas kept telling stories about different stuffs to Victor even though he knew Victor don t like to hear them. The author has tried to show the culture of Indians, the thoughts of people, how they dealt their life through his stories which I really found interesting and something different to learn. The author has showed how life was back then and I liked the fact he tried to show what impact it can have to a child s mind if he sees his father drinking alcohol and tormenting his mother ...
