Significance Of Silence In Night By Elie Wiesel
Silence!
With nobody to speak out and help those in need, how was Elie Wiesel and his father going to
survive the camps? Elie and his father are apart of a jewish family in the 1940 s. That means
they would be sent to a concentration camp. Hitler is in power and is conducting a genocide
against jews. Throughout the book you notice the theme silence being used. Wiesel wanted his
audience to know that not only were the Jewish people in camps silenced, but the world around
them was silenced as well. He illustrates that nobody spoke out to help the millions of dying
people that were being punished (for no reason) and nobody that was being punished was allowed
to speak out or the punishment worsened. He shows silence in several different ways including
symbolism, foreshadowing, and diction to exemplify the theme in the book Night by Elie Wiesel.
The first time you see silence in Night is when Wiesel foreshadows by saying, Even Moishe the
Beadle had fallen silent. (8). He indicates that silence will be a theme by saying Moishe had fallen
silent after he returned from a camp for immigrant jews. He foreshadows yet again on page 26
when an elderly woman is yelling that she sees a fire. (A fire that later would prove to be the end
of life for some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title Night symbolizes that it was as quiet as night making it dark and gloomy. The title is
the most important part of a book and Elie chose this title very wisely. He was sure that if people
were to read the book they would understand what the title means. Wiesel symbolizes an escape
to a better world when he features Juliek playing his violin on page 95. He plays his violin, not
only breaking the silence but symbolizing a world where people are free to play what they want
and say what they want. A world where everybody is allowed to speak out against what is wrong

Genetic Engineering Is Responsible And Manipulating The...
A couple, a man and a woman, sit in front of a screen. The woman said, Let s choose brown hair
and grey eyes for him. Oh! He needs to be tall and smart, replied the man. What the couple is
doing is designing their future baby. It might sound crazy to be able to engineer one s children
genetically, but technological advancements in the medical and scientific fields have allowed this
as a possible option for potential parents. Genetic engineering is controlling and manipulating the
genes of an organism. Genetic engineering is usually used to improve the organism s functions;
these organisms are known as genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Genetic engineering is
commonly used for the food industry. One benefit that results from genetically modified foods is
the lowered prices for the products. However, there can be hazardous side effects such as the
creation of new toxins (Goldbas, 2014, p. 22). Likewise, mutations in the DNAcan occur from
genetically engineering a baby. In spite of the threatening effects to the baby s health from
genetic engineer, I believe giving people to the option to design their perfect babies allows for the
genetic tree of infertile parents to continue; however, I believe the range of genes that future
parents can select for their fetus has to be restricted to the genes the parents already carried in their
DNA. Before the concept of designing one s perfect baby can be grasp, one must understand the
events in science building up to the

Management Planning
The planning function of management leads to a future course of action. This first function of
management is vital to the success of the organization. It is an ever changing part in the life of the
organization. It should answer the questions of where, when, how and who. The goals and
objectives of a business are developed in the planning process. The business that is depicted in this
paper is The Boeing Company. This document reveals the management operations of one of the
world s leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and
military aircraft.

The result of this suit led to the loss of contracts worth over a billion dollars.
Despite their legal and ethical issues, The Boeing Company has several initiatives that promote
social responsibility. They work with several colleges and universities to recruit for internships and
possible employment. The Boeing Company, through their partnerships, highlights the importance
of math and science. They have collaborated with the Entertainment Industries Council to launch a
nation wide project focusing on the importance of math, science, and technology. This project is
designed to stimulate excitement in students. They are also involved in mentoring initiatives and
elementary and high school outreach programs.
Innovation, profitability, and environmental concerns are three factors that influence Boeing s
strategic, tactical, operational, and contingency planning. Boeing is always seeking ways to
enhance education and air travel. According to the 2009 Corporate Citizenship Report, they have
multiple irons in the fire regarding technology. They have invested in educational programs geared
toward inspiring future engineers and scientists through Robotics. They also have a partnership
with the U.S. Space Rocket Center in which they sponsor educators to participate in Space Camps.

Building the Cuyahoga River Valley Organizations Essay...
MBA 563: Organizational Assessment and Intervention Case Study #2: Building the Cuyahoga
River Valley Organization Edie Druktenis March 28, 2013 This case focuses on the development
of the Cuyahoga River Valley Organization (CRVO) which is charged with caring out the
Cuyahoga Valley Initiative (CVI). The initiation of this organization began with an article in the
Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2000. The article discussed the history, natural beauty, and industry in
the Cuyahoga Valley located in northeastern Ohio. The valley is rich in natural resources and
allows for access to land and water transportation networks that helped it to be positioned as a

Establishing a process to move from the current state of the organization, in this case, nonexistent,
to a newly formed structure would require the management of a transition. To do this a road map
for the establishment of the new organization would be created citing the specific activities and
events that had to occur. After the establishment of the road map, planning a method for
commitment to the organization s development would be done. Once the commitment is
established, structures to manage the change would need to be created. This would involve
looking for people who have the power to mobilize resources and promote change and of course,
people who were willing to stay the course during the rough times that often occur when change is
happening. Staying the course would require the CRVO to provide a system to support the change
agents and influencers in the CVI community helping them to develop new competencies and skills
to generate support for the mission and reinforce behaviors required to maintain the vision and
mission of the CVI. Decision making during and after the establishment of the CRVO would have
to be more open and engaging than in most traditional organizations. Since the CRVO is being
established to assist with a vision of a much larger community effort, decisions can t be made
without the buy in and acceptance of the main stakeholders. The main

Kronick, CEO of Ogilvy Public Relations, Asia Pacific, the leading public relations consultancy

Deformation of this tissue results in depolarization of the neuron.
Both light touch and deep pressure are fast adapting senses. The bulb of connective tissue is
involved with adaptation. When deformation of these receptors first occurs, there is a burst of
electrical activity. If the stimulus is sustained, the bulb then mechanically adjusts to it, and allows
the sensory nerve to repolarize. The effect is loss of sensation. As soon as the pattern of
deformation changes, the neuron immediately depolarizes again. The overall effect is to increase
sensitivity to changes in the pattern of physical contact (touch) with the environment.
Observations to make:
Look at the photo of a Meissner s corpuscle in the book, and locate the receptor. Observe the nerve
fibers within the capsule (bulb). Notice how they are arranged parallel to the skin surface. Describe

Speer s Architectural Role In Nazi Germany
Through the close examination of Speer as an individual within the Nazi state, it is important to
distinguish his architectural career into two distinct sections; pre GBI and GBI. Through analysing
Speer s actions through these respective lenses, historians are equipped to make an informed
historical judgement on Speer and his specific roles within the confines of the Nazi political
hierarchy. Speer, through his early architectural role in the party, from 1931 to 1937, was able to
demonstrate his aptitude for architecture and design. It is important to note that during the years

Revenue
The airline industry exists in an extremely competitive environment and as a result, prices are
very elastic. Since all airlines essentially offer the same service, there cannot be a significant
variance in airfare, or else there would be losses in business to competitors. Nevertheless,
improvements in technology have made the world a smaller place in recent decades, however
inversely, the global population continues to grow, which will result in more people flying in the
years to come.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA), which represents 240 airlines and comprises
84% of global air traffic, estimates that there will be a 31% increase in passengers by 2017,

In response to appreciation in fuel, airlines achieved larger productivity and efficiency in non
fuel cost items, resulting in a decrease of labor costs as a percentage of total operating costs, falling
from 28.3% in 2001 to 20.1% in 2008 before increasing to 24% in 2014. As of 2014, however, fuel
costs dropped to an average of $108.80 per barrel, resulting in 30% of total operating expenses. It
is important to note that fuel costs can be volatile and can be hedged by investing in futures.
According to the IATA, 49.3% of employees in the airlineindustry are union members while the
remaining 51.6% are represented by collective bargaining agreements. This more than doubles the
percentage of employees in the private sector who are union members. Union workers receive
substantial wage premiums; for example, pilots receive an estimated 36% earnings premium. Also
fixed costs are very high in the airline industry, as carriers must make lease and loan payments for
aircrafts, hangars, insurance, taxes, and FAA fees, among others.
Macroeconomic Factors/Lifecycle/Cyclicality
The airline industry exists in an extremely competitive market structure, hence the elasticity of
prices. With revenue and demand forecasted to increase substantially over the next three years, the
industry appears to have recalibrated from the

The Super Power s Role in Fueling the Dispute in the...
The Middle East is a region to which the superpowers attached great significance and in which
they evidenced great attention. The United States and the Soviet Union became the main external
powers of significance in the Middle East in the period since the end of World War II but mostly
since the mid 1950s and the withdrawal of British and French influence from the region. The
superpowers had conflicting and similar interests and their policies often clashed, but they avoided
direct conflict while their respective clients were occupied in war. The Arab League, an
organisation that represented all of the Arab countries, promised its support for Nasser and Arab
enmity towards Israelamplified still further. There were also key changes in other parts of the
Middle East, which had conventionally supported the West. The pro western system in Iraq was
overthrown in 1958 and Syria and Libya both began to look to the Soviet Unionfor military aid. In
1958 Syria and Egypt created the United Arab Republic, this lasted for three years until a
revolution in Syria in 1961. Nasser had hoped that this would be the foundation for the Pan Arab
movement that he dreamed of. In 1964 Nasser supported the starting up of the Palestine
Liberation organisation. A few incidents, such as the Suez Crisis led to Superpower involvement
in the Middle East on a large scale. From being a Middle Eastern concern, relations between Israel
and its Arab neighbors became a potential global crisis point. To try to

Costs And Benefits Of Public Expenditure Programs
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to critically examine and discuss the underlying theme of
differences of opinion related perceptions of costs and benefits associated with public expenditure
programs. In this course, three of the lessons that were closely connected were cost benefit
analysis, public expenditures related to social insurance and income maintenance, and expenditure
programs for the poor. The goal of this analysis is to demonstrate how perceptions of costsand
benefits for expenditure programs is often based more on rhetoric than actual fact. This paper
begins with a brief review of the take away of the three lessons from which this analysis is based.
Then, a full examination of the relationship and issue of the perception of costs and benefits of
public expenditure programs is provided.
Cost Benefit Analysis The first lesson of importance related to this analysis was the lesson on cost
benefit analysis. On the surface, cost benefit analysis is supposed to be a truly objective analysis
of the costs associated with a particular project or program, and the benefits of that program
(Driesen, 2005). If the costs outweigh the benefits, then the project or program is not undertaken.
However, if the benefits outweigh the costs, regardless of what the perception might be about the
project or program, then it is pursued. The deeper issue that must be considered is whether cost
benefit analysis is purely an objective task that is based solely on fiscal

Many seem to think that Born in the U.S.A. is an extremely patriotic song in which Springsteen
is almost proclaiming how proud he is to be an American but this is far from reality. The song
actually deals with the Vietnam War and the suffering that occurs when veterans come back
home. One of Springsteen s verse makes this scene quite a real one for us as listeners, Come back
home to the refinery/ Hiring man said son if it was up to me/ Went down to see my V.A. man/ He
said son, don t you understand (Springsteen). This particular verse deals with the struggle that many
veterans had when they came back home and began looking for jobs.
Vietnam was unlike any other war America had been a part of before. First and foremost, most
people consider the war a loss for America. The main objective of the war was to stop the spread of
Communism to South Vietnam. American troops were able to accomplish this task but as soon as
they were pulled out and sent home, the North invaded the South and took over. In the end
Communism had spread to South Vietnam. Returning troops are generally welcomed home like
the heros that they are. Take World War 2 for example, the troops coming home for combat were
welcomed with parades all across the country, but not after Vietnam (COL. Jack Jacobs, U.S.

When Good Corporate Social Responsibility Is Good Business
Introduction
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can play a major role in a company s financial situation.
When a company invests in CSR, it can either bring additional costs to the company and hurt it
financially or it can help the company and greatly improve its revenue. However, when studying
this relationship between CSR and revenue, it is not a relationship that is easily analyzed. For ...

When utilized correctly, CSR is an investment with risk, but one worth taking. Calculating
Corporate Social Performance Whether CSR costs a company money or earns them money can
be a challenging topic to argue. There are many factors that are considered when assessing a
company s long term financial performance and its relationship between the company s CSR and
their revenue. These factors include a company s CSP (Corporate Social Performance, or the
measure of CSR), size, risk taken, economic scaling, and competition. However, there are several
additional variables that are commonly forgotten and must be considered when calculating the
effect a company s CSR has on their financial situation. R D for example has a major impact on a
company s long term economic performance, as it leads to improved knowledge and increased
ingenuity on the company s operations and products. Positive returns on R D investments can
lead to increased shareholder returns and increased profits. Industry advertising intensity is also a
variable that is often omitted, but must be included in this calculation. This accounts for any
industry entry barriers. These barriers are industry wide and may cause an increase in a company
s revenue. When R D and advertising intensity are left out of the equation, then the positive effect
of the company s CSR will be greatly exaggerated. In 2000, researchers Abigail Williams and
Donald Siegel entered each of these variables into an

LOSING MOTIVATION
Two weeks ago our seventh grade English teacher gave out class a poem to read called Ex
Basketball Player by John Updike. The poem was about a young man named Flick Webb who
played basketball in high school and was very good. After Flick finished high school, he lost
motivation and quit playing. Instead of using his talents to get a good career he ended up
working at Berth s Garage. I think Flick quit playing because he did poorly in school sense he
spend most of his time p laying basketball. At this point I would like to share my story of how I
lost motivation and quit what I learned from my experience.
I was in the third grade and my friends convinced me to join Girl
Scouts. I thought it was fun for a while, but then it got boring and I lost motivation. In a couple
of months I started to dread going to the meetings so I talked with my mom about it. I told her I
didn t think it was fun anymore because I lost interest in the things we talked about and did.
There were some good things about it, like spending time with my friends and learning things
about myself. However, I figured I could do those things at school. My mom had told me I could
quit if I wanted to, so I did.
At first I thought it was good that I quit, and I was happy. Later though I

Cultural Differences in India
Running Head: Cultural Differences in India
Cultural Differences in India
Cultural Differences in India
India is a unique country. Home to close to a billion people, it boasts a rich cultural history
spanning over 4 millennia. India s vast geographical coverage features all kinds of different terrain;
from the cold, magnificent peaks and valleys of Kashmir to the hot, barren lands of Jacobabad.
With such terrain comes a culture so vast that it is almost impossible to define. India possesses an
array of different races, languages, religions and customs (Bryman Hardy, 2009).
It is said that almost all of the world s most popular religions are found in India, which can be
further separated into different sects. Across the country, almost 400 different languages are spoken
including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Urdu, Kashmiri, Marathi, Sanskrit and English. It should be worth
noting here that a vast majority of these languages also have their own scripts and literature. In
terms of racial diversity, again India claims to be home to many races such as the Mongolians,
Arabs, Afghans, Sakas and the Kushanas as well as the various different jungle tribes spread across
the country. Thus, communicating across these cultures can always lead to misunderstandings and
friction between different groups.
One must realize that where all these different races, religions, languages and customs must co
exist, there shall always be cross cultural disputes, territory wars and a battle for

The Construction Of 1km Tall Kingdom Tower Of Jeddah,...
Executive Summary
Skyscrapers are continuously increasing in height as new technologies provide solutions to
unique problems that arise as a building grows. Technological advances have given rise to
categories of towers such as super talls (defined as buildings of over 300 metres) and mega talls
(over 600 metres). The tallest building currently is the Burj Khalifa at 829.8m (Schmidt, 2013)
however this will not be the case for long, as the construction of 1km tall Kingdom Tower in
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is already underway.
With the world s natural resources in extremely short supply, it is of incredibly high importance that
we use them in the most efficient way possible, therefore significant consideration must be given to
how we use them, whether this be for huge towers or otherwise.
On top of the issue above, there is an annual increase in population of nearly 76,000,000
(Worldometers.info, 2016) and the world s urban population is also on the increase; expected to
be at 70% of the planet s population by 2050 (Berg, 2016).
The next milestone height to be reached by a building is one mile. It is suggested the we certainly
could build as high as this (Berg, 2016), but whether we should is a bit more difficult to answer.
In this report, I aim to assess the benefits, drawbacks and design considerations of these enormous
structures before providing an opinion on whether I believe they should or should not be built.

Reflection About Math
Math is the language of the universe. It is used in every subject and understand it is absolutely
imperative. As highschool comes to an end and college is about to start, math is one of those
subjects that can be a pain in the butt to remind yourself how to do some topics. This project has
helped me understand the type of math I will be exposed to on the placement testand what type of
questions to expect. I chose to complete the Maryland placement test as I have some interest to
attend. It has also exposed me to the college lifestyle a little and got me insight of application and
what courses are required. I have concluded that these tests were a useful tool to measure my math
skills on the colgate level.
These tests were surprising in some aspects and in others very predictable. For one, I expected
them to be much longer and more thorough. I expected their to be open ended questions and less
multiple choice. I was surprised by the simplicity of some questions, but on contrasty, other
questions were more challenging than what I was anticipating. I was also surprised at the lack
of variety in questions. Much of the questions were the same format just with different number.
But for the most part, I was not too caught off guard by any of the questions, as I had learned
them all in my 4 year years at JCHS. The only things that I must address is reminding myself on
some of the older material that I learned in my freshman and junior years here. The test was
easier than I expected, although it was not easy. I expected the test to be very complicated and
to include difficult questions. Instead, it had simpler questions but were still a challenge. For
example, the concept of a problem could be fairly easy, but the numbers are hard to work with
or had fractions in them. On this test, calculators were permitted and were a huge help to me.
This tells myself that I need to get better at mental math to save time on tests and to not rely on
calculators so much. Mental math has always been difficult for me, but mastering it can be
greatly beneficial to my math. The test can be taken online or in person, it is really up to the
person. I personally would prefer an in person test, as I feel writing the problems out with pencil

DSL or Cable Essay
DSL or Cable
Everyday there are millions of people connecting to the Internet. The Internet is made up of
networks of computers linked together around the world where people can chat, shop, instant
message, and e mail each other. With so many people connecting one might wonder how all of
these millions of people are connecting to the Internet. There are many different options for people
to use to connect to the Internet, such as dial up, DSL, Cable, and Satellite. Dial up internet
connection uses the telephone line; this is the oldest connection that has been around since the 1990
s. The newest type of connection would be the satellite connection, which is not very popular right
now because of the high cost. The two most popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are other types of DSL such as Very high bit, symmetric, and rate adaptive DSL. The very
high bit rate is used for short distances, but is very fast. The symmetric DSL does not let you use
the Internet and the phone at the same time. So for home users, symmetric is not the best choice
for DSL. The rate adaptive DSL is similar to asymmetric DSL, but can adjust the speed depending
on the length of the phone line. There are many different types of DSL that homes users can chose
from, but the best choice for home users is clearly asymmetric.
Cable
As the name Cable might suggest this connection uses a television cable to connect to the
Internet. As with asymmetric DSL, the Cable Internet connection shares the coaxial line with
the television signal. Cable TV works by giving each TV station a 6 megahertz piece of the
radio spectrum. The Radio signals travel through the air at a speed very close to the speed of
light. In a coaxial cable like the one that brings CATV signals to your house, radio signals travel
at about two thirds the speed of light (www.howstuffworks.com). Cable Television offers 91
channels that take up 550 MHZ of the bandwidth (radio spectrum). Many cable companies today
are using fiber optic cables to provide cable TV because it can serve 500 householders with just
ONE optic fiber. Now that we know how both DSL and Cable Internet works, you might be asking
what devices do these

What Is True Individual Freedom In The Story Of An Hour
True individual freedom cannot exist without independence, was a quote Franklin D. Roosevelt
once said. What is meant by this statement is you cannot have freedom without independence
and vice versa. It s like the peanut butter needed in a jelly sandwich. Mrs Mallard represents this
quote in the short story The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin. One day, Mrs. Mallard, the
protagonist received the news that her husband had died in a railroad accident. Once she had
heard this, she went to her room and started to sob. She was sad that her husband died, yet she
often had not loved him. But then, she realized that she can be free and independent since her
husband is dead. Mrs. Mallard, also known as Louise, starts to pray that her life... Show more

Mallard starts to feel free and independent since her husband isn t around the house anymore. She
came to her consensus that there are positive things that are coming from this. In the story, Mrs.
Mallard says Free Body and soul free! she kept whispering (15). The reader learns that Mrs.
Mallard is now feeling like waves of freedom have washed over her, instead of gloomy ones. She
realized that she is now not held back by anyone, as she was seemingly restricted by her husband
to do things she had always dreamed of doing, by herself. Her body and soul are free, looking
forward to fun days later on in her life. She could finally have the freedom and independence she
had always wanted. A little further into the story, Mrs. Mallard s thoughts are Spring and summer
days, and all sorts of days that would be her own. She breathed a quick prayer that life might be
long (18). This is another example of the author showing Mrs. Mallard s independence and
freedom. She is looking forward to free and independent spring and summer days in the future. She
also makes a quick prayer that life might be long because she now wants to experience fun days
with her two new traits. Mrs. Mallard wants her freedom and independence to be the longest it
possibly can, up until she dies. Mrs. Mallard wants to experience her freedom and independence

Effect Of Groupthink On Investing

21 November 2016
Effect of Groupthink on Investing Groupthink is something that influences most things that people
do on a daily basis. People use groupthink every single day to make decisions, to confirm their
decisions, or even to compare to the decisions that they have already come to. Although groupthink
has its distinct advantages in certain situations, there are without a doubt situations in which
groupthink can be seen as a hindrance. How companies, and even individuals, invest their money is
something that is undoubtedly being affected by groupthink every single day. Groupthink can give
investors an extreme disadvantage and it can be shown by things throughout history. So, this paper
is going to dive into the effects that groupthink has on investors and therefore the effects that it can
even have on the economy. To understand the effectthat groupthink has on investors, and therefore
the economy, we must first comprehend what groupthink encompasses. Groupthink was a term
devised in 1972 by psychologist Irving Janis. According to Janis, groupthink ensues when a group
makes flawed choices because group pressures lead to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality
testing, and oral judgement. Essentially what this means is that our decision making can be
severely hampered by what the majority of the members of the group may think is the correct way
to go about whatever situation may be at hand. People affected

Describe two complication of Acute Myocardial Infarction. (2 marks)
One of the complications of an acute MI is Left Ventricular Aneurysm (LVA) which is a localized
area of myocardium with abnormal outward bulging and deformation during systole and diastole.
The epidemiology occurs in 10 30% of patients after an acute MI (American Heart Association
2015). The risk factors include total occlusion of the LAD artery, females and an anterior MI. To
prevent this, early revascularization is needed. The LVAs usually range from 1 8 cm.
Pericarditis is another complication of acute MI. The incidence of early pericarditis after a MI is
about 10% (American Heart Association 2015). This is caused by the inflammation of pericardial
tissue which overlies infarcted myocardium. Clinically a patient can present with severe pleuritic
chest pain and pericardial friction rub. Pericarditis usually develops between 24 and 96 hours after
an acute MI. The treatment of this complication is with anti inflammatory drugs and analgesia
(American Heart Association 2015).

Romeo and Juliet In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Lord Capulet is most
to blame for Juliet s death because he is verbally abusive and fickle. Lord Capulet shows change
throughout the play and proves that his actions have consequences. Lord Capulet is responsible
for Juliet s death because he is verbally abusive. Lord Capulet has a high temper towards Juliet
for her opinions . For example, As Lord Capulet enters Juliet s room and hears that Juliet refuses
to marry Paris his smile disappears and becomes angry and irritated. As Lord Capulet is yelling at
Juliet for being ungrateful he says, Speak not; reply not; do not answer me. My fingers itch

He changes his mind very quickly and can flip flop between what he wants for Juliet. For
example, as Paris and Capulet are talking to each other Paris asks Lord Capulet for his
permission to marry Juliet. Capulet then replies, My will to her consent is but a part. And, she
agreed, within her scope of choice lies my consent and fair according voice. (1.2.17 19). In this
quote, Lord Capulet is saying that his decision is only a part and if Juliet agrees to marry Paris his
blessing will confirm her choice. Soon after Tybalts death, Capulet and Paris speak to one another
once again. Tybalt suggests marrying Juliet to stop her mourning over the death of her cousin,
Tybalt, and Lord Capulet agrees. Once Lord Capulet hears Juliet s perspective on not marrying
Paris he threatens her by saying, I tell thee what: get thee to church o Thursday, or never after
look me in the face (3.5.167 168). This quote shows that Lord Capulet is forcing Juliet to marry
Paris or else she cannot return back home. He doesn t listen to Juliet s opinion and seems to not
care if she is happy or not with the marriage. This proves that Lord Capulet is fickle and is most

The Manifestation of Injustice Within Salem
In Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible (1953), the town of Salem, Massachusetts is established as a
place where their own religion ranks higher than truth and justice. Within this town, the authorities
are the supreme rulers; they do all the governing and rely merely on their Puritan beliefs in order
to help them draw a conclusion to fundamental decisions. These authorities began to develop the
belief that these young girls, one of them who goes by the name of Abigail Williams, are being
provided with information that they are unobservant of. As a result, they accustom themselves to
the girls thoughts, as well as actions in order to help prosecute obscure crimes. Meanwhile, the
whole court system gets turned upside down simply off of the assumption that these girls are
being sincere. People that were accused of witchcraft were to be executed unless they declared
themselves as a witch. Rather than acknowledge the fact that they couldn t comprehend all the
events that took place, more and more people began confessing to witchcraft in order to spare their
own lives; one of them being a young lady named Mary Warren. Should the testimony of witnesses
be taken as the whole, indisputable truth? Can a death sentence be justly based on a decision made
only by affirmations? Righteous individuals are being blamed for obscure events that took place
during the Salem witch trials. Injustice is taking place in

Holden Caulfield Explicit Language
The story of Holden Caulfield, from the book Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, starts from
from the point of view of Holden; where he is being treated for a nervous breakdown after being
kicked out of Pencey Prep. for the death of his little brother Allie. While the book does have
multiple instances of explicit language and suggestive themes, we think that the book is
appropriate to be used in the 10th grade English curriculum. While it does have foul language and
suggestive themes, kids in modern day High School have access to much more explicit and
suggestive content. Also, even if it was written around the 1950s, both the difficulty and the
timeliness is still relatively easy to understand and relate to. While there are numerous examples of
swearing throughout the entire book; we think that the book is actually appropriate for the 10th
grade curriculum. First, kids these days have access to much more explicit media with much more
suggestive themes. Two, kids are much more influenced by mass media than a few years ago.

Flag Desecration Synthesis Essay

That Flag Should Not Be Protected The United States is known for being land of the free , a
nation with a Declaration of Independence, as well, as a Constitution protecting the rights of it s
citizens. Wars have been fought and many people have died so we could have the rights that
present today. The freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, and most

The burning or desecration of the American Flag may fall under both freedoms. When one thinks of
the flag, they usually think of the blood that was shed for this country. It was shed so that we could
have liberties, such as, freedom of speech and expression, which fall under the First Amendment
rights of the Constitution. However, when you think of a burning flag, what comes to mind? One
might say it shows disrespect and hatred to a country that has given so much. In the case of Texas v.
Johnson, Johnson was accused of desecrating a sacred object, but, his actions were protected by the
First Amendment. Although his actions may have been offensive, he did not utter fighting words.
As stated in Source D Justice William Brennan wrote the 5 4 majority decision in holding that the
defendant s act of flag burning was protected speech under the First Amendment to the United
States Constitution. By burning the flag, Johnson did not infringe upon another s natural human
rights. He was simply expressing his outrage towards the government, which is within the
jurisdiction of the First Amendment. Another court case, where the 5 4 majority ruled in favor
of the defendant was United States v. Eichman in 1980, a year after the Johnson case. In the case
of United States v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990), the law was struck down by the same five
person majority of justices as in Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989). [Source D] Multiple times

In layman s terms, Environmental citizenship is the idea that humans are part of the environment
and that as a result we should work to help the environment through day to day and political
actions. A parallel could be drawn to the idea of the Social Contract, where people give up
certain privileges and take on certain duties in order to be effectively governed as a part of a
greater society (Gough 2 3). Environmental citizens give up certain privileges such as littering or
using fossil fuels and take on duties like recycling or voting for environmentally friendly laws or
politicians in order to better the environment as a whole. Environmental Citizenship can be further
broken down into two rough categories: personal daily citizenship and large scale political
citizenship. Daily environmental citizenship refers to people following environmentally just laws
and performing environmentally conscious actions in daily lives, such as recycling, eating food
from environmentally friendly sources such as homegrown gardens, using eco friendly
transportation such electric cars or public transportation, and other similar activities. Political
environmental citizenship is when people participate in large scale political processes such as
voting, political demonstrations (such as the March that I attended) or protests and even running
for political office. Of course,

Electric Cars Essay
You shower, brush your teeth, turn off the lights and plug in your...car. This seems like an
estranged concept but will be or at least should be a reality for most motorists. Electric cars are a
better means of transportation than gasoline powered cars, due to the fact that they save you money
in multiple ways, help combat global warming and boost a country s economy.
To begin with, electric cars are better for the planet. They decrease the emission of greenhouse
gases and increase air quality. Initially, the emissions free quality of EVs also stems from the
design of the motor. It is powered by a process called induction which uses electric and magnetic
forces to make the motor spin. This way there is no combustion reaction that would

maintenance, energy and compensation expenses; an EV is a good investment. The two main
points discussed will create an interest and incentive to allow the following point to become reality.
At last, the point that will most likely spur people to change their mode of transportation is that
EVs help countries economies. The need for the manufacture of electric cars and the installment
of a charging infrastructure will create jobs. In response to critics who say that petrol factory will
be left jobless, that is not the case because these workers will often be the same ones who will
work on EVs; these automotive industry workers have the necessary skills to build all kinds of
vehicles regardless of a change in the drivetrain. Not only will the manufacturing require a large
workforce but also the construction, maintenance, and operation of charging stations: Recent
electric vehicle penetration brings the necessity of a high number of charging stations
(YAGCITEKIN, UZUNOGLU, and KARAKAS).
All in all, there is insurmountable evidence pointing to the idea that electric vehicles are the
superior alternative to petrol vehicles and that they should be peoples new form of transport. Car

kilometres of annual replenishable groundwater re sources. With a net annual groundwater
availability of 399 cubic kilometres, the net withdrawals in 2004 amounted to 58% of the net

and it needs to evolve fast to keep up in its protection from the outside. Cybersecurity protects us
from unauthorized shutdowns, break ins, financial and social ruin. We live in a world that has
become completely reliant on computers for everything. They are able to cause chaos and even
shutdown nuclear centrifuges, air defense systems, and electrical grids. (Hathaway, Crootof,
Levitiz, Nix, Nowlan, Perdue Spiegel, 2012) Cyber attacks are more common today due to the
increase capability of technology. Important information along with every aspect of people s lives
are kept on computers or cell phones which are vulnerable at all times. An example of this would
be the leaked snapchat photos of celebrities, stolen identities and unauthorized access from an
outside computer into a power plant. In New York State we have four nuclear powerplants. These
nuclear power plants contribute to the economy, society and the environment. The Nuclear power
plants are Entergy s Fitzpatrick in Scriba and Indian Point in Buchanan, and Exelon s Ginna in
Ontario and Nine mile point in Scriba provide New York households and employers with over
5,000 megawatts (MW)of emissions free electricity and nearly 42 million megawatt hours (MWh)
of annual electricity generation. (Investment Weekly News, 2015)

Analysis Of The Poem Of Modern Poetry By Wallace...
Taking a broad view at one of Wallace Stevens s poems shows clues that Stevens believes in
Heraclitus s theory. One poem in particular, Of Modern Poetry, is a good example of Wallace
Stevens work because it is about the subject matter of poetry (Gallagher https://pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org
/login?url=http://search.proquest.com. pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/docview
/216773018?accountid=13172). In the poem it is obvious that neither Wallace Stevens or his poems
will tell you what they are about until they have been heavily studied, and this is a major
component of the Heraclitus theory because it is not straight forward and requires that the reader
think critically to uncover the answers (Gallagher https://pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:/
/search.proquest.com. pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/docview/216773018?accountid=13172). The poem Of
Modern Poetryalso talks about in twenty eight lines, broken into three sections by indentation rather
than by space breaks or numbers, he covers the state of poetry in the past; spends the larger portion
of the poem on prescriptions for the present; and, in the last four lines, presents the only must that
modern poetry must live up to (Gallagher https://pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:/
/search.proquest.com.pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/docview/216773018?accountid=13172). This break
down of the poem is another huge piece of evidence toward the belief that Wallace Stevens was a
Heraclitian theorist because believes believed in the past and in the

The Consequences Of The Falling Of A Parachute
The falling of a parachute represents something much deeper then the written text. The pulling and
slacking of the parachutes strings shows how basic responsibilities may take priority over original
thought and pull actions in different directions. The idea of being an adult comes with many
challenges and commitments that need to be regulated. This includes balancing work, play, and a
family. Being stranded, these young boys do not have the norms of society, changing and molding
them to be adults. This lack of responsibility and actual leadership gives them a false sense of
adulthood, and what they perceive to be the freedom of age. Having responsibilities can give a
perception that adulthood is near because most children are taught that having

Disadvantages Of Augmented Reality
Computer graphics (CG) is a subfield of computer science which digitally creating,
manipulating, and synthesizing the visual content that is displayed on a computer and video
screen. It was first created as a visualization tool for scientist and engineers in the 1950s and the
first graphic images an Oscilloscope that generated by an analog machine was created by Ben
Laposky in the year 1950. There are two different methods to create a digital image on a screen
raster and vector graphics. Raster graphics are the most common and are best used for non line
art images such as digital photos. This kind of graphics is bitmap graphics and so raster images
are a pixel image. Whereas, vector graphics are made up of paths such as lines, letters, or other

2.2.3Advantages and Disadvantages of Augmented Reality Augmented reality will provide a
number of advantages. In field education, AR can increase the engagement of students in learning
by augmenting the historical and cultural locations because they will absorb the information
easily. In the field of tourism, location tracking using MAR will display the virtual information
and virtual building on the screen to increase the interest of the user. Besides, AR in the car
dashboards can provide drivers some technical and travel information. It also increases the growth
of smartphone market as well as the perceived value of products and brands. Drawbacks of
augmented reality include the issue of privacy, risk of real physical safety, and unauthorized
augmented advertising that discussed in the previous section. Other than that, people may not want
to rely on mobile phones due to the small display size on the mobile screen because the virtual
objects that superimposed in real world looks very small and not clear enough on the mobile phone

Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning...
Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
1.1. Inclusive learning is about recognising that all your students have the right to be treated
equally and fairly, have the same access to all products, services and have the opportunity to be
involved and included. As a teacher you need to be aware that all students are not the same as they
all do not learn in the same way, the ways in which a teacher can overcome this is using the
Teaching and Learning Cycle, using visual, auditory and kinaesthetic materials (VAK) and agreeing
on individual learning plans (ILPs). Other features could include self reflective exercises, quizzes
and providing opportunities for students to reflect on their own... Show more content on

Once the students have completed the lesson, they can use all of the skills out of the classroom
and into their everyday life. 2.1. Creating an inclusive learning environment benefits all students to
enable effective learning to take place. The environment in which you are teaching the subject can
sometimes be restricted but teaching can take place anywhere not necessarily just in a classroom,
for example, colleges, learning centres, the workplace, prisons are to name just a few. When
teaching you would need to consider the venue, rooms and resources but also your attitude and
support as this can also have an impact on the students in which they will learn. 2.2. It is important
to select a number of teaching and learning approaches as individuals can face a number of
barriers causing them difficulty to learn. Maslows (1987) Hierarchy of Needs shows that if all five
aspects of this theory are met, which are, self actualisation, self esteem recognition, safety/security
and physiological it creates a healthy environment for learners to progress and achieve their goal.
2.3. Motivation is what causes us to act, it is either intrinsic (from within) which means to learn for
your own fulfilment or extrinsic (from without) which means they may be an external factor
motivating the learner. To help motivate learners you can set targets, be professional, create
interesting and relevant tasks or activities, engage students and give them the opportunity to

Compare And Contrast Essay On Scavengers
The two days following the first sessions was uneventful. Loki was spending a lot of time alone
thinking about what to confess and how he would say everything that happened. What led up to
the attack in New York and the reasons behind him alienating his family. Maddison on the other
hand was observing him and trying to take notes about his state of mind. She felt bad for
practically staking him but it was part of her job in order to make a valid decision.
One of the things she noted was that Loki haven t had a proper conversation with anyone it the

Theories Of Human Nature By Karl Marx And Thomas Hobbes Essay
In both theories of human nature by Karl Marx and Thomas Hobbes respectfully, each provide their
own perspective on the fundamental point of human nature. Marx makes the argument that that
humans are inherently cooperative and the capitalist system creates a state of nature where humans
are competitive. In opposition to Marx argument, Hobbes may say that humans are inherently
competitive and the social contract is what makes humans cooperate within the capitalist system. In
response, Marx might say that the social contract is redundant because the social contract has no
effect on the competition that resembles the state of nature within the capitalist system.
The philosophy of Karl Marx begins with the belief that humans are inherently cooperative with
common characteristics and shared ends. To human beings, life is considered an object and
therefore, humans make their life activity itself the object of his will and of his consciousness
(Tucker 76). In other words, humans are able to think, imagine, and produce even when he is free
from physical need and only truly produces in freedom therefrom (p. 76). It exemplifies that idea
that humans not only have the capability to create things for survival but express themselves in
what they produce, within the standards of the human race or universally. When capitalist wage
labor enters the picture, it forces these shared ends and the freedom of expression in human
production to cease, causing a rise of competitiveness among

Who Is Willy Wonka A Naturalist
One is given many optional ways on how to think and coexist in this world. Whether the center
of your life is solely nature, a mystical being, or God, you are isolated by divisional barriers based
upon your mental state. A naturalist believes that everything can be explained as a product of a
combination of physical facts and physical laws. Naturalism deals with more raw and explicit
details of life rather than focusing on the happy endings that a realist would rely on. In Naturalism
one s actions are controlled by nature, their environment, or heredity. As you venture into the
mind of a Naturalist you will be able to see that God has nothing to do with this way of life. This
group of people thrive off of preconceived notions rather than on the idea of change ; therefore
evolution played a major role in Naturalism.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The environment is what caused Wonka s fate. This film is mainly about a boy who s family is
financially unstable and very poor. I believe the movie was emphasizing on the lower class, giving
the gut wrenching reality of just how bad others were struggling. Naturalists put an end to the idea

The Romantic Er The Victorian Period And The Romantic Period
Earlier in The Victorian Period, also known as the Victorian era began in the year 1837. It was
also an important period, because it was the year that Victoria became Queen. Also years passed
and the Victorian Period ended with her death in 1901. History says that the Victorian period is
one of the longest periods ever. The Queen Victoria lasted 63 long years and lasted longer than
many British monarchs. Despite the fact that the Romantic period lasted less than the Victorian.
The Victorian period is said that lasted twice as the Romantic period. The Victorian period was a
very influential movement. For example a Victorian period novel is A Christmas

Disadvantages Of Harmonization Of Law
As Cohen (2009) stated, harmonization can happen in a variety of ways, ranging from the
decisions of individual states to reform their own legal structures to conform to a common
standard to the adoption of a multilateral treaty in which states commit themselves to adopt a
common legal model. (Leebron, 1996) This can be seen in some countries who have adapted
different ways of reforming their own model while it can also be seen in regional areas mainly the
European Union(EU) while the Association of Southeast nations (ASEAN) have just adopted it last
year.
There is a benefit as well as challenge in doing harmonization of law. The researcher thinks that the
only benefit is the reason why it is mainly good for all the countries involved. The only benefit is
that it makes trading easier. The researcher thinks that the countries involved could see increase in
their economy since trading is easier. A country... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The global financial crisis in 2008 exposed the structural flaws of the EMU. The first challenge the
researcher saw is if the ASEAN countries would meet the financial criteria that would be set once
the ASEAN dollar is in use. When euro was launched, not every member at that time joined
immediately. At the same time, Greece did not qualify but was allowed to join in 2001. It is
also important to note that Britain and Denmark uses their own currency. If ASEAN adopts the
ASEAN dollar, questions such as if they are all qualified, what about those who are not qualified
and those who do not want to use the ASEAN dollar. The currency right now shows that Brunei
and Singapore are above every other member while Malaysia is catching up, others are far behind.

##bolic Implications Of JesusExorcism In The Bible
In the synoptic gospels, Jesus exorcisms are portrayed as one of the major acts in Jesus mission
to the kingdom of God. The gospels not only narrate Jesus casting out the demons and cleansing
the possessed bodies, but also implicitly suggests the controversy he evokes among the Jewish and
Roman authorities of Judea and Galilee. The context of New Testament Gospels is deeply rooted
in the Greco Roman world and as such paints the background of the Jesus actions and messages.
Several scholarly publications that analyze biblical texts from the social science perspective have
established a relationship between the politics and religion of the ancient world.
The aim of this paper is to assess the events of demon possession and exorcism narrated in the Bible
not from a theological perspective but from sociopolitical standpoint. Drawing references from
scholarly publications on Bible, this paper would investigate the symbolic meanings of Jesus
exorcism in socio political sphere of Galilee and Judea at the very beginning of the first century.
This paper heavily relies upon the concepts proposed by Amanda Witmer in her publication Jesus,
the Galilean Exorcist, His Exorcisms in Social and Political Context.
The historically accurate reconstruction of Jesus is extremely improbable. This is largely due to the
limited quantity of resources survived and those that do, New Testament Gospels, are written under
the lens of religious followers. As such, there exists great challenge in

Power And Corruption In A Tale Of Two Cities
Throughout all of human history, many influential beings have exploited varying forms of human
nature s prominence, as well as its true darkness. There have been many cases to humans acting out
of pure righteousness by standing by and supporting their true and sincere morals, whereas others
have revealed the deep evil within us through acts of brutality, savagery, or manipulation. Percy
Bysshe Shelley one wrote, Power, like a desolating pestilence, Pollutes whate er it touches . This
quote expresses Shelley s opinion that power does not come without corruption. I support Shelley s
assertion because her belief can be proven not only through examples from the book, A Tale of

On the other hand, however, those who were consumed by the corruption possessed weaker minds
with not as righteous morals. One may conclude that, because humans are not born with
immediate mental fortitude, it may be a part of human nature to be corrupted by power. In
Charles Dickens famous novel, A Tale of Two Cities , many situations that have involved
corruption through power revolved around an individual that uses that power for a selfish reason,
such as entertainment or revenge. An example of this would be when the Marquis of France
abused their royal titles. By having a high rank in the social class, the Marquis used their titles to
live lives of luxury while the rest of society suffered in extreme poverty. This example from the
book depicts a darker characteristic of selfishness in human nature, which contributes to

Microcapsules Essay
Layer by Layer Approach for Making Microcapsules
Muhammad Faiz Omar (201308264)
4th December 2014
Abstract
The fabrication of hollow multilayer microcapsules in the beginning is initiated by layer by layer
(LbL) self assembly technique of oppositely charged polyelectrolyte on colloidal template followed
by core decomposition. The main concept of microencapsulation is to protect the contents of
fabricated microcapsules from the harmful environment in which it is surrounded. In this literature
review, I shall outline the technique of microcapsules encapsulation employing LbL approach, lists
of polyelectrolytes and templates and application of microcapsules.
Introduction
Over the past decades, nanometre sized or known as microcapsules have been benefited the
approach of Layer by Layer(LbL) technique due to the ability of tailoring their properties(e.g., size ,
shape, colloidal stability, surface functionality, composition) that are biocompatible and
biodegradable.1 3,10They are broadly used in many applications including food technologies,
cosmetics, textiles industry and pharmaceuticals. The LBL assembly of multilayers are
fundamentally built up by the alternating deposition of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes onto a
sacrificial template such that the charge oscillates between positive and negative with each
layer.1,4 The establishment of nanocoatings using LbL assembly method distinguishes itself in its
intelligibility compared to the more conventional method. The

way Soybeans have been grown in the past?
Roundup Ready Soybeans
Monsanto s Roundup Ready Soybean (RRS) is a genetically engineered variety of soybeans,
which contains gene sequences from a cauliflower mosaic virus (CMV), a petunia, and a
bacterium (Agrobacterium sp.) (Greenpeace, 1997). The two bacterial genes, in short, provide
for resistance against Roundup, resulting in a crop of soybeans that can be sprayed with
Roundup to protect it from weeds, while not injuring it. In 1996, U.S. farmers harvested about
1.2 million acres of Roundup Ready Soybeans, and although this crop represented only about 2
percent of U.S. soybeans, it will be mixed with conventional soybeans unlabeled to become part of
as much as 60 percent of all processed foods that contain some soy based ingredient (Bruno, 1997).
In the United States, most consumers are likely to have already ingested small amounts of
transgenic soy in such common food as margarine, chocolate, baby food, and

The Pros And Cons Of Supportive Reasoning
supportive reasoning. Consider a unique scenario where fa , ga , hb, and Ib subjects are the stock
of belief and thereby the belief of a=b aspect is assumed, as soon as one accepts the identity he/she
automatically owes a justification to his/her supportive reasoning in relation to the contextual basis,
the three variables are basically related and mutually interlinked. Frege does assume that, depending
on the preposition expressed, the a=a expressionis considered a priori while the second clause
expression a=b is a posteriori. The aspect behind this is that the formulation of the expression is
often considered by many as a petition principal to favor the perception that the sentences
respectively express different propositions. It is possible to formulate and state Frege s puzzle in a
better way without necessarily committing on either positive or negative side of the question or
context, besides the formulation, the understanding of the puzzle doesn t necessarily involve two
singular terms a and b, (Eros Jerome 2). In addition, the identity a=b can be contrasted into two uses
to derive both informative and uninformative sentences, and the number of singular terms used
doesn t matter. Lastly, being distinctive in the relevant notations of the original Frege s puzzle is
likewise important: cognitive value, from the typical puzzle, a=b is informatively expressed
contrary to a=a , cognitive content which is the part of information associated with the sentence
subject, information content which is what an individual learns and perceive the case by simply
understanding and thereafter accepting, in other words, it is the state which approves a sentence to
be true and lastly semantic content which implies the entire meaning decoded from the sentence
and the individual strictly respond to what the sentences basically expresses.
Solution to Frege s puzzle Incorporation of a metalinguistic approach which is related to Milian
view. This method is based on identity statements for instance Hesperus is Phosphorus are
utterances that are related to language rather than the identity per the see. Although the expressed
statement might lack knowledge aspect, the acquired knowledge could be

difference, bringing to light those specific differences in the other character. Fortinbras and Laertes

Wicca And Witchcraft
Witchcraft is a religion. Wicca is one form of Witchcraft; however, the term Wicca is occasionally
applied to Witchcraft in overall. In the United States, most individuals who practice this religion
identify themselves as Witches or Wiccans. Wicca is an earth based religion and in some ways is
akin to the Native American spirituality. Wicca, which is sometimes called The Craft, Wicce, or
The Old Religion, is centered on an ancient religion of nature and love of life. Most federal and
governments as well as the U.S. Armed Forces recognize the religion of Wicca. The courts have
acknowledged the right of even inmates to perform this religion on the same basis as other religions.
In ancient times, people appreciated Nature with its great forces and celebrated the cycles of the
seasons and the moon. They understood the spirituality in the sun as well as the moon and in the
Earth Herself. When you come right down to it, in all of life.
This perspective is in spite of everything, vital to present day Wicca. To most Wiccans,
everything in Nature, together with the Goddesses and Gods, is a true aspect of Deity. The
elements most often notable in the Craft are the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, which is
known as the Triple Goddess of the Moon and in addition the Horned God. These have numerous
names in a number of cultures. Wicca is personal, flexible and all encompassing. You will find no

  • 4. Significance Of Silence In Night By Elie Wiesel Silence! With nobody to speak out and help those in need, how was Elie Wiesel and his father going to survive the camps? Elie and his father are apart of a jewish family in the 1940 s. That means they would be sent to a concentration camp. Hitler is in power and is conducting a genocide against jews. Throughout the book you notice the theme silence being used. Wiesel wanted his audience to know that not only were the Jewish people in camps silenced, but the world around them was silenced as well. He illustrates that nobody spoke out to help the millions of dying people that were being punished (for no reason) and nobody that was being punished was allowed to speak out or the punishment worsened. He shows silence in several different ways including symbolism, foreshadowing, and diction to exemplify the theme in the book Night by Elie Wiesel. The first time you see silence in Night is when Wiesel foreshadows by saying, Even Moishe the Beadle had fallen silent. (8). He indicates that silence will be a theme by saying Moishe had fallen silent after he returned from a camp for immigrant jews. He foreshadows yet again on page 26 when an elderly woman is yelling that she sees a fire. (A fire that later would prove to be the end of life for some of ... • 5. Genetic Engineering Is Responsible And Manipulating The... A couple, a man and a woman, sit in front of a screen. The woman said, Let s choose brown hair and grey eyes for him. Oh! He needs to be tall and smart, replied the man. What the couple is doing is designing their future baby. It might sound crazy to be able to engineer one s children genetically, but technological advancements in the medical and scientific fields have allowed this as a possible option for potential parents. Genetic engineering is controlling and manipulating the genes of an organism. Genetic engineering is usually used to improve the organism s functions; these organisms are known as genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Genetic engineering is commonly used for the food industry. One benefit that results from genetically modified foods is the lowered prices for the products. However, there can be hazardous side effects such as the creation of new toxins (Goldbas, 2014, p. 22). Likewise, mutations in the DNAcan occur from genetically engineering a baby. In spite of the threatening effects to the baby s health from genetic engineer, I believe giving people to the option to design their perfect babies allows for the genetic tree of infertile parents to continue; however, I believe the range of genes that future parents can select for their fetus has to be restricted to the genes the parents already carried in their DNA. Before the concept of designing one s perfect baby can be grasp, one must understand the events in science building up to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The initiation of this organization began with an article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2000. The article discussed the history, natural beauty, and industry in the Cuyahoga Valley located in northeastern Ohio. The valley is rich in natural resources and allows for access to land and water transportation networks that helped it to be positioned as a center for many of America s early industries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Establishing a process to move from the current state of the organization, in this case, nonexistent, to a newly formed structure would require the management of a transition. To do this a road map for the establishment of the new organization would be created citing the specific activities and events that had to occur. After the establishment of the road map, planning a method for commitment to the organization s development would be done. Once the commitment is established, structures to manage the change would need to be created. This would involve looking for people who have the power to mobilize resources and promote change and of course, people who were willing to stay the course during the rough times that often occur when change is happening. Staying the course would require the CRVO to provide a system to support the change agents and influencers in the CVI community helping them to develop new competencies and skills to generate support for the mission and reinforce behaviors required to maintain the vision and mission of the CVI. Decision making during and after the establishment of the CRVO would have to be more open and engaging than in most traditional organizations. Since the CRVO is being established to assist with a vision of a much larger community effort, decisions can t be made without the buy in and acceptance of the main stakeholders. The main ... Kronick, CEO of Ogilvy Public Relations, Asia Pacific, the leading public relations consultancy in Asia, has lived in China for nearly two decades, during which he s experienced tremendous social, economic and personal change. They key to it all, to happiness in business and at home, Kronick explains, is to continuously seek to understand. It is that humor that I credit as the stimulant that has deepened my love for the experiences I have had in this country... The bulb of connective tissue is involved with adaptation. When deformation of these receptors first occurs, there is a burst of electrical activity. If the stimulus is sustained, the bulb then mechanically adjusts to it, and allows the sensory nerve to repolarize. The effect is loss of sensation. As soon as the pattern of deformation changes, the neuron immediately depolarizes again. The overall effect is to increase sensitivity to changes in the pattern of physical contact (touch) with the environment. Observations to make: Look at the photo of a Meissner s corpuscle in the book, and locate the receptor. Observe the nerve fibers within the capsule (bulb). Notice how they are arranged parallel to the skin surface. Describe briefly Look at the photo of a Pacinian corpuscle. Notice the onion like bulb of connective tissue. Speer s Architectural Role In Nazi Germany Through the close examination of Speer as an individual within the Nazi state, it is important to distinguish his architectural career into two distinct sections; pre GBI and GBI. Through analysing Speer s actions through these respective lenses, historians are equipped to make an informed historical judgement on Speer and his specific roles within the confines of the Nazi political hierarchy. Speer, through his early architectural role in the party, from 1931 to 1937, was able to demonstrate his aptitude for architecture and design. Since all airlines essentially offer the same service, there cannot be a significant variance in airfare, or else there would be losses in business to competitors. Nevertheless, improvements in technology have made the world a smaller place in recent decades, however inversely, the global population continues to grow, which will result in more people flying in the years to come. As of 2014, however, fuel costs dropped to an average of $108.80 per barrel, resulting in 30% of total operating expenses. It is important to note that fuel costs can be volatile and can be hedged by investing in futures. This more than doubles the percentage of employees in the private sector who are union members. Union workers receive substantial wage premiums; for example, pilots receive an estimated 36% earnings premium. Also fixed costs are very high in the airline industry, as carriers must make lease and loan payments for aircrafts, hangars, insurance, taxes, and FAA fees, among others. • 14. The Super Power s Role in Fueling the Dispute in the... The Middle East is a region to which the superpowers attached great significance and in which they evidenced great attention. The United States and the Soviet Union became the main external powers of significance in the Middle East in the period since the end of World War II but mostly since the mid 1950s and the withdrawal of British and French influence from the region. The superpowers had conflicting and similar interests and their policies often clashed, but they avoided direct conflict while their respective clients were occupied in war. The Arab League, an organisation that represented all of the Arab countries, promised its support for Nasser and Arab enmity towards Israelamplified still further. There were also key changes in other parts of the Middle East, which had conventionally supported the West. The pro western system in Iraq was overthrown in 1958 and Syria and Libya both began to look to the Soviet Unionfor military aid. In 1958 Syria and Egypt created the United Arab Republic, this lasted for three years until a revolution in Syria in 1961. Nasser had hoped that this would be the foundation for the Pan Arab movement that he dreamed of. In 1964 Nasser supported the starting up of the Palestine Liberation organisation. A few incidents, such as the Suez Crisis led to Superpower involvement in the Middle East on a large scale. From being a Middle Eastern concern, relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors became a potential global crisis point. To try to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Costs And Benefits Of Public Expenditure Programs Introduction The purpose of this paper is to critically examine and discuss the underlying theme of differences of opinion related perceptions of costs and benefits associated with public expenditure programs. In this course, three of the lessons that were closely connected were cost benefit analysis, public expenditures related to social insurance and income maintenance, and expenditure programs for the poor. The goal of this analysis is to demonstrate how perceptions of costsand benefits for expenditure programs is often based more on rhetoric than actual fact. This paper begins with a brief review of the take away of the three lessons from which this analysis is based. Then, a full examination of the relationship and issue of the perception of costs and benefits of public expenditure programs is provided. Cost Benefit Analysis The first lesson of importance related to this analysis was the lesson on cost benefit analysis. On the surface, cost benefit analysis is supposed to be a truly objective analysis of the costs associated with a particular project or program, and the benefits of that program (Driesen, 2005). If the costs outweigh the benefits, then the project or program is not undertaken. However, if the benefits outweigh the costs, regardless of what the perception might be about the project or program, then it is pursued. The deeper issue that must be considered is whether cost benefit analysis is purely an objective task that is based solely on fiscal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many seem to think that Born in the U.S.A. is an extremely patriotic song in which Springsteen is almost proclaiming how proud he is to be an American but this is far from reality. The song actually deals with the Vietnam War and the suffering that occurs when veterans come back home. One of Springsteen s verse makes this scene quite a real one for us as listeners, Come back home to the refinery/ Hiring man said son if it was up to me/ Went down to see my V.A. man/ He said son, don t you understand (Springsteen). This particular verse deals with the struggle that many veterans had when they came back home and began looking for jobs. Vietnam was unlike any other war America had been a part of before. First and foremost, most people consider the war a loss for America. The main objective of the war was to stop the spread of Communism to South Vietnam. American troops were able to accomplish this task but as soon as they were pulled out and sent home, the North invaded the South and took over. In the end Communism had spread to South Vietnam. Returning troops are generally welcomed home like the heros that they are. Take World War 2 for example, the troops coming home for combat were welcomed with parades all across the country, but not after Vietnam (COL. Jack Jacobs, U.S. ARMY (RET.)) When Good Corporate Social Responsibility Is Good Business Introduction Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can play a major role in a company s financial situation. When a company invests in CSR, it can either bring additional costs to the company and hurt it financially or it can help the company and greatly improve its revenue. However, when studying this relationship between CSR and revenue, it is not a relationship that is easily analyzed. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When utilized correctly, CSR is an investment with risk, but one worth taking. Calculating Corporate Social Performance Whether CSR costs a company money or earns them money can be a challenging topic to argue. There are many factors that are considered when assessing a company s long term financial performance and its relationship between the company s CSR and their revenue. These factors include a company s CSP (Corporate Social Performance, or the measure of CSR), size, risk taken, economic scaling, and competition. However, there are several additional variables that are commonly forgotten and must be considered when calculating the effect a company s CSR has on their financial situation. R D for example has a major impact on a company s long term economic performance, as it leads to improved knowledge and increased ingenuity on the company s operations and products. Positive returns on R D investments can lead to increased shareholder returns and increased profits. Industry advertising intensity is also a variable that is often omitted, but must be included in this calculation. This accounts for any industry entry barriers. These barriers are industry wide and may cause an increase in a company s revenue. When R D and advertising intensity are left out of the equation, then the positive effect of the company s CSR will be greatly exaggerated. In 2000, researchers Abigail Williams and Donald Siegel entered each of these variables into an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Home to close to a billion people, it boasts a rich cultural history spanning over 4 millennia. India s vast geographical coverage features all kinds of different terrain; from the cold, magnificent peaks and valleys of Kashmir to the hot, barren lands of Jacobabad. With such terrain comes a culture so vast that it is almost impossible to define. India possesses an array of different races, languages, religions and customs (Bryman Hardy, 2009). It is said that almost all of the world s most popular religions are found in India, which can be further separated into different sects. Across the country, almost 400 different languages are spoken including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Urdu, Kashmiri, Marathi, Sanskrit and English. It should be worth noting here that a vast majority of these languages also have their own scripts and literature. In terms of racial diversity, again India claims to be home to many races such as the Mongolians, Arabs, Afghans, Sakas and the Kushanas as well as the various different jungle tribes spread across the country. Thus, communicating across these cultures can always lead to misunderstandings and friction between different groups. • 26. The Construction Of 1km Tall Kingdom Tower Of Jeddah,... Executive Summary Skyscrapers are continuously increasing in height as new technologies provide solutions to unique problems that arise as a building grows. Technological advances have given rise to categories of towers such as super talls (defined as buildings of over 300 metres) and mega talls (over 600 metres). The tallest building currently is the Burj Khalifa at 829.8m (Schmidt, 2013) however this will not be the case for long, as the construction of 1km tall Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is already underway. With the world s natural resources in extremely short supply, it is of incredibly high importance that we use them in the most efficient way possible, therefore significant consideration must be given to how we use them, whether this be for huge towers or otherwise. On top of the issue above, there is an annual increase in population of nearly 76,000,000 (Worldometers.info, 2016) and the world s urban population is also on the increase; expected to be at 70% of the planet s population by 2050 (Berg, 2016). The next milestone height to be reached by a building is one mile. It is suggested the we certainly could build as high as this (Berg, 2016), but whether we should is a bit more difficult to answer. In this report, I aim to assess the benefits, drawbacks and design considerations of these enormous structures before providing an opinion on whether I believe they should or should not be built. This project has helped me understand the type of math I will be exposed to on the placement testand what type of questions to expect. I chose to complete the Maryland placement test as I have some interest to attend. It has also exposed me to the college lifestyle a little and got me insight of application and what courses are required. I have concluded that these tests were a useful tool to measure my math skills on the colgate level. These tests were surprising in some aspects and in others very predictable. For one, I expected them to be much longer and more thorough. I expected their to be open ended questions and less multiple choice. I was surprised by the simplicity of some questions, but on contrasty, other questions were more challenging than what I was anticipating. I was also surprised at the lack of variety in questions. Much of the questions were the same format just with different number. But for the most part, I was not too caught off guard by any of the questions, as I had learned them all in my 4 year years at JCHS. The only things that I must address is reminding myself on some of the older material that I learned in my freshman and junior years here. The test was easier than I expected, although it was not easy. I expected the test to be very complicated and to include difficult questions. Instead, it had simpler questions but were still a challenge. For example, the concept of a problem could be fairly easy, but the numbers are hard to work with or had fractions in them. On this test, calculators were permitted and were a huge help to me. This tells myself that I need to get better at mental math to save time on tests and to not rely on calculators so much. Mental math has always been difficult for me, but mastering it can be greatly beneficial to my math. The test can be taken online or in person, it is really up to the person. The symmetric DSL does not let you use the Internet and the phone at the same time. So for home users, symmetric is not the best choice for DSL. The rate adaptive DSL is similar to asymmetric DSL, but can adjust the speed depending on the length of the phone line. There are many different types of DSL that homes users can chose from, but the best choice for home users is clearly asymmetric. Cable As the name Cable might suggest this connection uses a television cable to connect to the Internet. As with asymmetric DSL, the Cable Internet connection shares the coaxial line with the television signal. Cable TV works by giving each TV station a 6 megahertz piece of the radio spectrum. Effect Of Groupthink On Investing Kenneth Kiebles Finance 393 Professor Hocter 21 November 2016 Effect of Groupthink on Investing Groupthink is something that influences most things that people do on a daily basis. People use groupthink every single day to make decisions, to confirm their decisions, or even to compare to the decisions that they have already come to. Although groupthink has its distinct advantages in certain situations, there are without a doubt situations in which groupthink can be seen as a hindrance. How companies, and even individuals, invest their money is something that is undoubtedly being affected by groupthink every single day. Groupthink can give investors an extreme disadvantage and it can be shown by things throughout history. So, this paper is going to dive into the effects that groupthink has on investors and therefore the effects that it can even have on the economy. To understand the effectthat groupthink has on investors, and therefore the economy, we must first comprehend what groupthink encompasses. Groupthink was a term devised in 1972 by psychologist Irving Janis. According to Janis, groupthink ensues when a group makes flawed choices because group pressures lead to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality testing, and oral judgement. Essentially what this means is that our decision making can be severely hampered by what the majority of the members of the group may think is the correct way to go about whatever situation may be at hand. However, when you think of a burning flag, what comes to mind? One might say it shows disrespect and hatred to a country that has given so much. In the case of Texas v. Johnson, Johnson was accused of desecrating a sacred object, but, his actions were protected by the First Amendment. Although his actions may have been offensive, he did not utter fighting words. As stated in Source D Justice William Brennan wrote the 5 4 majority decision in holding that the defendant s act of flag burning was protected speech under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. By burning the flag, Johnson did not infringe upon another s natural human rights. He was simply expressing his outrage towards the government, which is within the jurisdiction of the First Amendment. Another court case, where the 5 4 majority ruled in favor of the defendant was United States v. Eichman in 1980, a year after the Johnson case. In the case of United States v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990), the law was struck down by the same five person majority of justices as in Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989). [Source D] Multiple times in flag burning cases, ... In layman s terms, Environmental citizenship is the idea that humans are part of the environment and that as a result we should work to help the environment through day to day and political actions. A parallel could be drawn to the idea of the Social Contract, where people give up certain privileges and take on certain duties in order to be effectively governed as a part of a greater society (Gough 2 3). Environmental citizens give up certain privileges such as littering or using fossil fuels and take on duties like recycling or voting for environmentally friendly laws or politicians in order to better the environment as a whole. Environmental Citizenship can be further broken down into two rough categories: personal daily citizenship and large scale political citizenship. Daily environmental citizenship refers to people following environmentally just laws and performing environmentally conscious actions in daily lives, such as recycling, eating food from environmentally friendly sources such as homegrown gardens, using eco friendly transportation such electric cars or public transportation, and other similar activities. Political environmental citizenship is when people participate in large scale political processes such as voting, political demonstrations (such as the March that I attended) or protests and even running for political office. Electric cars are a better means of transportation than gasoline powered cars, due to the fact that they save you money in multiple ways, help combat global warming and boost a country s economy. To begin with, electric cars are better for the planet. They decrease the emission of greenhouse gases and increase air quality. At last, the point that will most likely spur people to change their mode of transportation is that EVs help countries economies. The need for the manufacture of electric cars and the installment of a charging infrastructure will create jobs. In response to critics who say that petrol factory will be left jobless, that is not the case because these workers will often be the same ones who will work on EVs; these automotive industry workers have the necessary skills to build all kinds of vehicles regardless of a change in the drivetrain. Not only will the manufacturing require a large workforce but also the construction, maintenance, and operation of charging stations: Recent electric vehicle penetration brings the necessity of a high number of charging stations (YAGCITEKIN, UZUNOGLU, and KARAKAS). Inclusive learning is about recognising that all your students have the right to be treated equally and fairly, have the same access to all products, services and have the opportunity to be involved and included. As a teacher you need to be aware that all students are not the same as they all do not learn in the same way, the ways in which a teacher can overcome this is using the Teaching and Learning Cycle, using visual, auditory and kinaesthetic materials (VAK) and agreeing on individual learning plans (ILPs). Creating an inclusive learning environment benefits all students to enable effective learning to take place. The environment in which you are teaching the subject can sometimes be restricted but teaching can take place anywhere not necessarily just in a classroom, for example, colleges, learning centres, the workplace, prisons are to name just a few. When teaching you would need to consider the venue, rooms and resources but also your attitude and support as this can also have an impact on the students in which they will learn. 2.2. It is important to select a number of teaching and learning approaches as individuals can face a number of barriers causing them difficulty to learn. Maslows (1987) Hierarchy of Needs shows that if all five aspects of this theory are met, which are, self actualisation, self esteem recognition, safety/security and physiological it creates a healthy environment for learners to progress and achieve their goal. 2.3. Theories Of Human Nature By Karl Marx And Thomas Hobbes Essay In both theories of human nature by Karl Marx and Thomas Hobbes respectfully, each provide their own perspective on the fundamental point of human nature. Marx makes the argument that that humans are inherently cooperative and the capitalist system creates a state of nature where humans are competitive. In opposition to Marx argument, Hobbes may say that humans are inherently competitive and the social contract is what makes humans cooperate within the capitalist system. In response, Marx might say that the social contract is redundant because the social contract has no effect on the competition that resembles the state of nature within the capitalist system. The philosophy of Karl Marx begins with the belief that humans are inherently cooperative with common characteristics and shared ends. To human beings, life is considered an object and therefore, humans make their life activity itself the object of his will and of his consciousness (Tucker 76). In other words, humans are able to think, imagine, and produce even when he is free from physical need and only truly produces in freedom therefrom (p. 76). It exemplifies that idea that humans not only have the capability to create things for survival but express themselves in what they produce, within the standards of the human race or universally. When capitalist wage labor enters the picture, it forces these shared ends and the freedom of expression in human production to cease, causing a rise of competitiveness among ... The main concept of microencapsulation is to protect the contents of fabricated microcapsules from the harmful environment in which it is surrounded. The aspect behind this is that the formulation of the expression is often considered by many as a petition principal to favor the perception that the sentences respectively express different propositions. It is possible to formulate and state Frege s puzzle in a better way without necessarily committing on either positive or negative side of the question or context, besides the formulation, the understanding of the puzzle doesn t necessarily involve two singular terms a and b, (Eros Jerome 2).
