Chaos And Chaos In Oedipus
Chaos is an ubiquitous force in nature that can found anywhere and at anytime. A little chaos is the
key to keeping society together, but an excessive amount is detrimental to humanity and the ways
of the world. Oedipus Rex by Sophocles and Oedipus Out of Joint by Jean Pierre Vernant help us
understand Oedipuss downfall and the devious role chaos plays in the whole affair. Attempting to
fight for order in the battle against chaos for authority, his actions serve as an expedient for the
pandemonium that develops in his life meanwhile entrapping himself in an inescapable
entanglement that he inadvertently inflicts upon himself.
Chaos has the uncanny ability of slipping through the cracks of a city s firm foundation and
poisoning the area. Disguised as a hero, Oedipus is welcomed as the king of Thebes and is
endlessly praised for his gallantry and wisdom. Citizens view him as the savior who rescued
them from the Sphinx s wrath, but unbeknownst to them and even Oedipus himself, he is the
very pollution who causes all the ongoing chaos in the city. He vows to expose and penalize the
murderer for the unjustified act of regicide to appease Apollo and lift the plague, yet when
Teiresias accuses him of being the contamination, he repudiates the charge and blames Creon
instead of accepting responsibility. His wisdom fails him even with evidence staring him in the
face, and hubris blinds him to the painful truth that he killed his own blood. By slaughtering his
father, he takes Laius s identity and transfers into the stage of an old man: But the moment he
slips into old age... he becomes at best a man of words and of wise counsel, and at worst a
pitiable wreck (Vernant, 167). Once Oedipus is unmasked as the perpetrator, they pity the broken
man he becomes, but are disgusted by his vileness, and exile him to a lifetime of suffering
protecting themselves from the fury of Apollo that Oedipus imposes upon them. Just as chaos can
unconsciously invade a city, it can seep into the mind, the fragile thing. Quick to anger, Oedipus s
actions only manages to provoke resentment he will learn to regret later on. Rage? Why not!/And I
ll tell you what I think:/You planned it, you had it done, you all but/ Killed him with your

Children born in 1900 were only expected to live, on average, 49 years. Thanks to advances in pest
control, a child born 110 years later, in 2010 is now expected to live to the age of 78. This increase
in average life expectancy parallels advances in pest management control, therefore this is one task
that should never be postponed.
Individuals often worry about pest control and what it involves. To answer many of these
questions, consumers may visit the pest control faqs page on Barrier Pest Control s website.
Here one can learn about how to keep spiders and bugs out of the home, how long it takes for
products to work and more. While on the site, be sure to check out The Barrier Promise to learn

Statement Of Sop For Computer Engineering
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Dreams, dreams are what we live for, what we believe in, and
what we want to achieve. We live because we dream. I had my childhood ambition of doing
something great, something different for myself. I ve always had this little dream of doing
something big. At present we are in a technological and computing revolution that will severely
change our lives and eventually readdress what it means to be a human. I am very galvanized at
the prospect of devoting my career to such a dynamic, fast advancing field. From the time I was
young, I loved dabbling with computers and experimenting with various applications. My lifetime
has essentially coincided with the rise of modern computing industry, I can feel that there are still
tremendous developments to come in this field. So I choose Computer Science as my university
major, and now, as I am in the end of my undergraduate course, my central goal is to continue my
education in a more competitive and international environment. Any tryst with sciences,
mathematics or any area... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also learned sundry subjects such as Database Management Systems, Data Structures, Computer
Networks, Computer Organization, Software Engineering, etc with verve. I have observed on
various occasions that there exists a wide gap between learning and implementation at the
undergraduate level, to hugely distance an engineering student from a professional engineer that he
meant to be. The undergraduate courses will enable a student to grasp the fundamentals involved
in a particular discipline of Engineering, they do not present an opportunity to learn the ropes of
technologies that are currently within the industry. So, a bachelor s degree provides a sound
alternative to take a direct leap from schooling fundamentals to industry standards, it is still
insufficient for an Engineer to make it out in the professional world. So, I opt for a graduate

Ensr International
ENSR International
Which of the proposed solutions do you favour and why?

Of the 3 options provided, I would choose to implement Anderson s key account program for
several reasons: 1. It will help align employee compensation with overall corporate profit
objectives. CSC managers are currently compensated based on their CSCs profit performance.
This gives managers the incentives to employ their own CSC consultants on projects from the
region, regardless if there are better suited ENSR consultants working under different CSCs.
Depending on the specific needs of a prospective client in the manager s region, the CSC may or
may not contain the necessary expertise to win a project. Implementing a key account program will
allow the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, ENSR might lose out on several clients because the BDOs aren t able to provide clients
with the right knowledge and expertise. 4. In some RFPs, the bid requires the consultant to outline
the scientific approach that they would take in resolving the conflict presented. This is a section
of the RFP that drives cost and time required to complete the RFP. By implementing a key
account program, consultants will be put on projects where they have expertise, and this should
allow this process to be as resource efficient as possible. 5. In the case, it states that it is common
for some companies to begin discussions with consultants well in advance of actually drafting and
distributing an RFP. These discussions helped the company to conceptualize more clearly the nature
of the project and the specific consulting needs. Having a key account team will guarantee that the
client is getting the right type of expertise, and will increase ENSR s chance of including its own
insights into the drafting of the RFP.
What is the ideal client for ENSR?
The ideal Client for ENSR is clients who have strong relationships with ENSR consultants. ENSR
gains from having repeat customers, notably customers willing to partner with ENSR for a sole
source contract. Having strong relationships reduces the amount of expended company resources
(consultant time and money). Consultants will then be able to spend less time prospecting clients
and building relationships,

Mothers provide unconditional love for their child. In the works of Secret Daughter by Shilpi

A mothers first priority is their children and when he or she becomes sick, she tries her best to cure
their child. In the story, the mother gives all she can to get her child back from Death, but in the
end she must let go of her child for its sake. One cannot explain the pain of losing their child, but
the pain a mother receives when she has a choice between giving her child away willingly or
having the child to live a miserable life with her is unexplainable. A woman who has been taking
care of her son for three days, rests only for a moment and in that single moment her child is
taken away from her by Death. The woman believes she can bring her child back from Death,
but by the end of the story, she prays for the child to be gone into the God s kingdom and away
from all the misery. Although the mother wants her child back to her, she values other mothers as
well and does not wish to harm their children. As the mother threatens to pick two flowers, Death
warns her that other woman will suffer as she is, and she quickly withdraws from flowers, despite
knowing Death may not listen to her commands of giving the child back. But in the midst of this,
the mother is hurt and miserable without her child, but she must give the child away for its
happiness. Hence, the theme of motherhood is demonstrated by the brave decisions by the mother

Factory Act Of 1833 Research Paper
The Factory Act of 1833 is back to haunt businesses?
As you know the Factory Act of 1833 established a set of rules for businesses. Children are
banned from working in textile factories under the age of nine. With that children from 9 to 13
years old limited to 9 hours a day and 48 hours a week and 13 to 18 year olds were limited to 12
hours a day and 69 hours a week. Aside from that all other children under eleven to have two hours

Acids And Its Effect On The Wine Industry
I know that the topic of acids in wines have been discussed many times in our wine circles. It is
important to realize that both good and bad acids exist in the wines that we drink. Let s look at
acids in wines and their effects on the final product that we all enjoy so much.
The relative amounts of tartaric and malic acids vary depending on the grape variety and on where
the grapes are grown. For example, in Burgundy, the Chardonnay has a lower concentration of
malic acid than a Chardonnay grown in the Napa Valley of California.
Both tartaric and malic acids are nonvolatile which means that they do not evaporate or boil off
when wine is heated. An example of a Volatile acid in wine is acetic acid (vinegar). Acetic acid
does boil off when heated, and is undesirable in wine. Volatile acidity of 0.03 0.06% is produced
during fermentation and is considered a normal level.
Tartaric and malic acids are produced by grapes as they develop. In warm climates, these acids
are lost through the biochemical process of respiration. Grapes grown in warmer climates have
lower acidity than grapes grown in cooler environments For example, Chablis (France) produces
grapes with high acid because the climate is very cool, while Napa Valley produces grapes with
lower acidity because the climate is warmer.
Sugar production in a cold verses warm climates is completely opposite of acid production. The
warmer the climate the higher the sugar content of the grapes. Australia verses

The Arab Israeli Conflict Essay
According to an apocryphal story, Pope John Paul once said that he believes there are two possible
solutions to the Arab Israeli conflict, the realistic and the miraculous. The realistic being divine
intervention, and the miraculous being a voluntary agreement by both parties. On September 13th,
1993, it looked like the miraculous had happened when the Oslo Accordswere signed by Israeli
Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Chairman Yasser Arafat
on the White House South Lawn. However, the objectives of the historic accords were never fully
implemented and the Palestinians remain a stateless nation. Further steps toward Israeli Arab
peace, including the Cairo Agreement, Oslo II and the Camp David Summit, have fallen short of
the goals of both parties.
When he became president in 1993, Bill Clinton and his advisors did not initially make Israeli
Palestinian peace a priority. The administration looked first to other Middle Eastern affairs,
believing that an Israeli Syrian agreement was more likely, and that the policy of dual containment
in Iran and Iraq was more pressing. They thought that once they made a breakthrough between Israel
and Syria the Lebanese would be close behind, and that this would put pressure on the Iran and
Iraq, the biggest opponents of any sort of Israeli Arab peace deal (US Office of the Historian). The
Americans were made aware of the secret negotiations that had begun in Oslo in December 1992

What Are The Similarities Between Lying And Bullshit
One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. (Frankfurt). This
statement truly defines the current situation of our life. I have developed a decent interest in this
topic because we are surrounded by it and the majority of people don t recognize it. There have
been a lot of difficulties in understanding this topic as there are no particular theory has been given
to this topic. According to Frankfurt bullshitis unavoidable at conditions in which we expect
somebody to talk without recognizing what he is discussing. Therefore, the production of bullshit
is based on the opportunities that an individual have to express more on a particular topic than his
knowledge on the particular topic. We are going to talk about the similarities and differences
between lying and bullshit. We will also discuss that which one is more harmful to the society and
why, we are also going to discuss about some of the questions that are related to bullshitting in our
life and discuss why we are not doing anything about it or it is just a human tendency.
Lying is the practice of communicating lies and there are many similarities between lying and
bullshit. First the main aim of liars and bullshitters are that they both want the other person to
believe that they are telling the truth. Secondly they both want to get away with the situation which
led them to tell a lie or bullshit. But there is a great difference between lying and bullshitting. The
liar has an

Jacques Cartier was a determined, intelligent, and patient explorer of France who was born on

On the contrary, Cartier was determined and believe in himself that he could make it through
this journey without dieing and hoping to find a new path too gold and spices. Although in the
end Cartier did not find a new path too gold and spices, he sailed many new parts of north
america like GaspГЁ in which he met an Iroquois chief and made many valuable trades with this
chief. Cartier also raised a 9 foot cross in the honor of his king while he was in GaspГЁ. These two
pieces of evidence prove that Cartier was a determined explorer. In the end of his magnificent
years of sailing Cartier was a very determined explorer who knew he could get anything done.
Cartier was a intelligent leader which led him too successful journeys and explorations, he had
to make many tough decisions like how many people should be on his crew, but lucky he was an
intelligent person a made these decisions correctly. Cartier showed intelligence because on each
voyage he went on he increasingly brought more crewmen. This proves that Cartier was
intelligent, because by Cartier s third voyage he managed to get a crew of 5 ships which was a
total of approximately 120 130 men. Gathering this many crewmen who were pretty much risking
their lives to be on this voyage, was a very hard task. When Cartier was gathering his crew, he was
intelligent in trying to recruit people that he new would come on his voyage.

The Theme Of Language In The Red Sari By Apirana Taylor
Describe an important idea in a text or texts you have studied. Explain how the writer used language
features to make that idea seem important.
In the short story The Red Sari by Apriana Taylor, there are many themes being conveyed in the
story, the most prominent being the cultural conflict and tension between the narrator and the
Indian beggars. Language features play a vital role in the story, and Taylor uses language features
to convey his important ideas and messages to the reader.
In The Red Sari, Apirana Taylor also shows that cultural differences can lead to misunderstanding
and discomfort. He uses the first person narrative to show his actions and thoughts. The narrator,
who is a foreigner presumably visiting India, is trapped in a ... Show more content on

can infer from these lines that very few people cared about the car crash except for the people

scene. The words crunched up concertina and the metaphor wearing a traffic light for a hat both

The Cry Of The Children By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children is a poignant look into the horrid practice
of child labor that took place in the mines and factories of 1840 s industrial England. Browning
paints such a vivid, disturbing picture that she aroused the conscience of the entire nation. A
new historicist perspective into this poem will help understand why Browning decided to take a
stand and speak up for these children through her work. The poem opens with, Do ye hear the
children weeping, O my brothers, ere the sorrow comes with years? This one sentence embodies
the whole work and does a good job drawing in the reader. Equally as important is the use of O
my brothers as it relates to the intended audience, of which Elizabeth Browning is part of. That is
the upper class. If the tone were one of reprimand for the treatment of children, instead one of a
sense of shared guilt; it s possible it may not have been so accepted by her peers. Elizabeth Barrett
Browningwas already a published poet at the time she wrote Cry of the Children in 1843. In
1838, The Seraphim and Other Poems appeared, the first volume of Elizabeth s mature poetry
(Everett, 1). If fact, Browning was said to have written poetry as early as age six. Her collection
of poetry written during her childhood years is one of the largest of all English writers. One
notable poem written when she was just fourteen was called The Battle of Marathon: A poem. This
achievement at such a young age was possible

The Exploitation Of The Natural Environment
Despite the fact that efforts were made in the past to entrench the rights of the people, people are
still born into a miserable life with no possibilities of escaping of poverty, while others may inherit
fortunes and financial freedom empires. Inequality, like the gap between the rich and the poor, has
never been as critical as it is a present. Unfortunately, the future does not appear to be bright if the
degrading activities of the natural environment continues(7), the expanding shortage of resources,
overpopulation especially in under developing countries as well as the apathy of the majority of
the world brings even worse issues of poverty.
Many under developed countries are trapped in poverty because of the shortage of raw materials,
being forced to resort to trade in order support themselves, as well as overexploitation of the limited
resources they posses. Unable to implement eco friendly technologies in the production processes
and therefore force to use hazardous and cheap methods of production, which is contributed further
degradation of the environment. For instance, many suffer from poverty live on soil that is not
fertile; as a consequence, they are forced to resort to intensive farming. This practice is damaging to
the environment and furthermore, these people do not have the financial means to improve the
technologies they use in agriculture or basis infrastructure in this aspect. As a result, they can only

The Infrastructure of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing refers to an internet based computing technology where shared servers provide
infrastructure, software and various other resource to customers on a pay as use basis. Cloud users
need not know how the resources are managed. Hence they can concentrate on the business
functionality of the service rather than the underlying functionality involved in the management of
the resources. These customers do not own the physical infrastructure, but rent these resources from
a third party agency. This conceptis widely utilised by the industry, government and in the
educational sector due to the ability to provide robust, resilient and scalable computing power. The
resources are provisioned to the user based on determining the required computing resources by the
customer.
Virtualisation is a powerful technology which makes modern computers versatile and powerful.
This technology enables an on demand creation of a large number of virtual machines within a

Server level virtualisation is done by emulating the underlying hardware by virtualisation software.
This virtualisation software is referred as a Hypervisor or a Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM). In
OS virtualisation, the virtualisation platform runs on top of the host OS which relays and co

Causes And Consequences Of The Housing Bubble
A combination of factors in the early 2000 s caused the perfect economic storm to trigger the
worst recession the United States had experienced since the Great Depression of the 1930 s. The
housing bubble and subsequent burst left homeowners owing more on their mortgages than the
property was worth and fueled the financial crisis of 2007 2009. Many economists label the
housing bubble as the single largest contributing factor to the financial crisis. Caused by low
interest rates, relaxed standards on lending and the misguided belief that prices and the value of
homes would continue to rise, the US economy is still recovering from the effects of the housing
bubble. To understand the causes and consequences of the housing bubble, we must first define
it. In general terms, an economic bubble is characterized by a surging increase in asset prices to
levels significantly above the fundamental value of that asset (Campbell, 2011). The housing
bubble was characterized by steeply rising home prices, with no corresponding rise in home
rentals as shown in Figure 1. Case Shiller examine the origin of the term housing bubble stating
that the term appeared a few times in 1987 after the stock market crash. The term was not seen
again in any frequency until 2002, when the press popularized the term. The paper also links
housing bubble to the more widely used term housing boom which was described as being much
more neutral than bubble and suggests that the rise in prices may

The Little Ice Age and Climate Change Today Essay
The Little Ice Age and Climate Change Today

Abstract The little ice age gave us a glimpse as to how climate change can affect our society. This is
especially important today as we stand on the brink of another environmental catastrophe. The
acceleration of greenhouse gas output has irrevocably changed how mankind affects the
environment. The lessons that we can learn from studying the little ice age may lead us to

and war during this period from the black plague to Napoleon s failed campaign into Russia, the
French revolution, and the Irish potato famine are tied to the little ice age. The little ice age was
preceded by a warmer wetter period that allowed people to become reliant on certain crops and
weather patterns for their survival. Several events occurred within a short period of time to start
this cooling period that lasted 500 years. The warm period called the medieval maximum actually
set events in motion. It is hypothesized that this warm period melted global ice packs, introducing a
large volume of fresh water into the ocean interrupting the thermohaline flow. This stopped warm
water from reaching the northern climates and therefore the atmosphere grew colder because of
this. The second circumstance was the Maunder Minimum. This is a period of dormancy for
sunspots. This results in less radiation reaching earth and less warmth available. The third event was
actually a series of events. Volcanic eruptions started with a regularity of five major eruptions every
century. This put a large amount of ash and water vapor into the atmosphere which in turn reflected

innovation not being strong enough to drive growth, increased competition within the doll category,
along with lower effectiveness of in store, commercial, and promotional activities (Mattel).
In 1998 Mattel acquired the well established company American Girl Dolls. American Girl bucked
retail trends, expanding its brick and mortar footprint while still achieving incredibly high online

the revenue in a given market and bringing in between 50 60% new customers to the brand (Mattel

During the 18th century tin army toys for boys emerged along with miniature kitchen sets for
girls. The toys during the 18th century were very gender based; masculine toys for boys, while the
girls had toys to encourage household duties and nurturing. Peddlers sold these toys to middle class

Criminal Activity And Its Control
Within the first section of this essay it will explore the ways in which contemporary criminology
such as realist and critical challenge popular representations, commonsensical images and
explanations of crime and its control.
Contemporary criminology uses scientific methodology, creating research data that looks at the
larger issue of crime, being the social construct of ever altering societies and cultures. Contemporary
criminology contains a wide range of theoretical approaches from which all take stands against the
older theories like Lombroso s classic theory Born criminals . As a result criminologists recognises
that what is perceived as criminal activity and crime is constantly altering.
Radical criminology came about in the late 1960 s and originates from a group of sociologists
and activists which all shared the same two views: a dissatisfaction with traditional or mainstream
criminology, and the fact that they were largely influenced by the labelling perspective (Coleman
and Norris, 2000, p.73.) it is from this group that radical criminology was born . Radical
criminology is a textbook example of ever changing criminological theories which indeed
challenges popular representations of crime like the media. Radical criminological theories do not
conform to a single definition; it originates from a few different criminological theories such as
Marxism and feminism. Mclaughlin and Muncie states that Within the broad classification of
radical criminology

Cultural Value Of Cosmetics
Cosmetics are internationally used by people to enchant their appearance, improve their skin, and
express their personalities. Many cultural values could be used to develop a marketing strategy for
cosmetics, but three of the most important are sensual gratification, individual/collective, and youth
/age. Cosmetics, which include makeup and skincare products, are often used for the purpose of
enchanting one s appearance either to appear younger or more attractive to others. Another use for
makeup is expressing one s individuality or for creating a look to fit in with their group.
Sensual gratification is the cultural value that determines whether it is culturally acceptable to
pamper oneself and how one can indulge in gratification. Cosmetics can be and often are
marketed for increasing one s sexual appeal. Therefore, conservative cultures can be more
hesitate when purchasing makeup but can be convinced if it is presented as pampering and self
expression sexual appeals won t work in conservative cultures like many Muslim and Asian
countries (Mothersbaugh Hawkins, 2016, pp. 51 52). On the other end of the spectrum, cultures
with high sensual gratification will be responsive to sexual appeals for cosmetic brands. High end
cosmetic brands have embraced this appeal and now market products with names such as Fucking
Fabulous , Fuzzy Handcuffs , and Better Than Sex in the United States and Europe (Harper, 2017).

1.Abigail Adams establishes ethos in the opening paragraph by asking questions about the issue at

7.The tone of Abigail s letter to John is more sincere than his letter to her. In her letter you can
tell that even though she does not agree with some of his stands on issues she still loves and
supports him. The tone of John s letter is dry, with not much emotion. He doesn t show much
concern for her or her ideals. The only evidence of intimacy found is when they discuss their
children. In Abigail s letter intimacy is also found when the reader finds that she misses him and
worries about him and when she says she is willing to do anything he needs.
8.If she knew he letter was to be published she probably would have probably not been as nagging
on her husband to write more than he does. She would have probably thought that other reads may
have felt she came off as clingy and sense desperation so she would have written more calmly and
collectively.

The View Of The Afterlife Essay
Classical World Influences
Introduction
The aim of my report is to explain how the view of the afterlife in Ancient Greece has shaped works
of art, books and the mentality of people. In order to do this I am going to explore how ancient
Greek people saw the underworld as well as Roman people and the Renaissance period. Because
Greeks saw the underworld as a dark, dreadful and gloomy place, many of the works that refer to
it, either in Roman times or the Renaissance, are influenced by this view. In particular works like
the Odyssey by Homer or The Phaedo by Plato, explained to a certain level the structure of the
afterlife in ancient Greece. These two pieces of literature severely influenced works like the
book VI of the Aeneid by Virgil where he depicts the underworld referencing to the Greek point
of view. But a deeper description of the underworld is given by Dante in his Divine Comedy
where he uses Virgil as his guide, from the depths of hellto the Purgatory while Beatrice, Dante s
ideal woman, guides him through heaven. All these time periods shared the idea of the underworld
as being a place where souls pay the sins they committed during their lives.
Afterlife in Ancient Greece
The afterlife in ancient Greece was Known as Hades. It was a grey world ruled by Hades, the
Lord of the Dead. If they had a virtuous life they could enjoy the sunny pleasures of the Elysium

The nation that we live in today proudly proclaims its perpetuation of freedom and democracy, and

However, no government is perfect, for man himself is inherently imperfect. For over two centuries
since its birth, The U.S. constitution, which many hold in such high esteem, has been continuously

Throughout this argument for marijuana legalization, the notion of justice will be repeatedly called
upon, and the justice of the current system and policy will be analyzed and disputed. In order for
this analysis to happen, justice itself must first be defined thoroughly and given precise parameters.
According to Webster s Dictionary, justice is the quality of being just, impartial, or fair, and
conformity to truth, fact, or reason. Justice from this point on will include the following: the logical
execution of law or standard based solely on proven facts or truth, and the existence of fairness and
equality throughout these actions.
The drug war that the U.S. government is waging is not limited to law enforcement crackdowns
and mandatory prison sentences. According to the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention,
declines in teen drug use are preceded by a generally higher awareness of the harms of drugs (Torr

have put it to their use. Recently the Office of National Drug Control Policy, or the ONDCP, has

bankruptcy, caste politics and Hindu Nationalism, India is a great example of unity in diversity

(Pradhan et al, 2105: 12). The caste system in India is intricately correlated to class stratification
and this is of immense political value in India as class and caste differences shape the politics in
India till a great extent. In this essay, I will begin by talking about the association between class
and caste, as this is an important aspect in order to understand how these issues shape the politics
of India. Further on, I will talk about the gradual emergence of classes over the period of time
and their influence on politics, beginning with colonial period and concluding with the modern
India. I will then attempt to display the crucial role played by the classes during the 2014
elections. The essay will then discuss how the Indian middle class contributes to shaping the
politics of India. I will then go on to write about the other classes and their influence over politics.
To conclude, I will talk about how class is just one of the innumerable other factors contributing to
the politics in India. In

Argumentative Essay On International Adoption
Did you know that international adoption is a real argument between people? International
adoption is a big topic between people; they either like it or hate it. Overall International adoption
should be more acceptable considering the cost, the benefits, and various country exchanges. The
history of international adoptioncomes from the Korean War. After the Korean War, Korean and
biracial orphans were placed with American families. It started around the 1950 s. Many times in
the past biological mothers would put their child up for adoption because of poverty, illness, or
family crisis. However, international adoptionhas dropped more than 60% in the past decade (
International Adoption Facts: What You Need to Know ). In 2016 there were 5,370
International Adoptions. Then in 2015 American families adopted 5,648 children alone from
other countries. In 2014 there were 6,438. In 2013 there were 7,092. In 2012 there were 8,667.
In 2011 there were 9,319. In 2010 there were 11,058. As you can see the rate of international
adoption is dropping every year by at least 1,000. This is caused because they are making it
harder to adopt internationally ( Travel.State.Gov. ). International adoption is a good choice
because most of the time the health of the children living in their home countries is not good.
Most of the time they are very sick and need to leave their country otherwise they will die. When
you go to pick up your child from their country, you can spend some time with your new kid
before you leave to bring them to your house. It is also a good choice because you will make a
big difference in a kid s life. In most of the adoptive cases you save the child s life ( 7 Reasons to
Adopt a Waiting Child Internationally ). It is also a good choice because if you can not have
your own kids, if you adopt internationally you don t have to struggle or pay for infertility.
International adoption is what most American families/people do because American adoption can
take over 2 3 years to be approved. Another good thing about international adoption is that you can
get financial aid to help with the cost of adoption. Basically the good quality of international
adoption is that it is a easier and faster

Australian Identity
Australia is a young, modern country made up of a diverse and multicultural population, therefore,
it s difficult to say that it has a single national identity. This essay will examine what Australia s
identity may look like, specifically, through art.
Australia has only been here for little over 200 years whereas other countries have a lot of history
with solid identities. Australian art is an important factor that helps to create its identity because its
artists are passionate about the unique aspects and symbols of Australia and they incorporate them
into their works to really show what they think Australia is.
Australian Impressionism is a good place to start to reflect on the early influences in Australian art.

Ned Kelly is considered to be a folk hero and is remembered as one of Australia s most significant
people because he stood up to corrupt police officers, unfair laws and biased government. Kelly
is immortalized in Sidney Nolan s Ned Kelly collection of 27 paintings that re count his daring
exploits with the law. Nolan was sympathetic to this story as he, himself, was a fugitive from the
law and, using various Australian landscape scenes as a backdrop, transcended his own conflict
onto the canvas to make the series a success. Sidney Nolan, Glenrowan, 1946 Sidney Nolan, Ned

The land has a lot to do with Australia, the way that its identity may have developed might be
through its isolation and our slow understanding and respect for it. Landscape pieces by other
artists at this time depict the land in a much different light than Nolan. Lawson s The Drover s
Wife has a woman dressed in dull clothing, standing alone, highlighting her isolation in the
Australian outback. Whereas Preston s abstract landscape Flying Over The Shoalhaven River
depicts the land to be an inviting and welcoming place. Henry Lawson, The Drover s Wife, 1945

(AASL, 2006) The other set of standards that guide the scope for the information literacy program
here in Utah are the Utah State Core Standards for the Library Media (grades 6 12). While there
are is some overlap between these two sets of standards they work together comprehensively to
cover all areas of information literacy. These standards are divided up into 3 clusters. The Utah
State Standards were designed to be taught through integration with other subject and content areas.
The three clusters include: Literacy: Reading Engagement
Literacy: Research and Information
Literacy: Media Engagement
Cluster one, reading engagement, focuses largely on promoting reading and creating lifelong
readers who read for enjoyment as well as out of need. It also includes using strategies to be able
to comprehend both recreational reading as well as informational texts. This cluster does a good
job of filling some of holes that appear in the AASL standards. The information and research strand
hones in on defining an information problem and identifying the information need. Some of the
indicators in this standard show that a learner can narrow or broaden an information search as well
as seek clarification from teachers and other resources. The third cluster, research and information
includes being able to identify, evaluate, and select sources. The indicators in this

Cleopatra XII Philopator
The final ruler in the Macedonian dynasty, Cleopatra XII Philopator, or more widely known
simply as Cleopatra, is widely agreed have been incredibly charismatic and highly intelligent.
After inheriting a weakened country with an empty treasury, Cleopatra was still able to promote
trading links with countries as far away as India, thus much improving the country s economic
situation. Not only was one of her main foreign policy goals was to prevent Rome s domination
of Egypt, but she was also able to help revive Egypt s economy and contemporary Egyptian
sources regarding Cleopatra s rule (though admittedly, there are not many) also suggest the the
pharaoh was incredibly popular with the Egyptian people (Hill), and in 35 B.C.E, she even took the
epithet Philopatris, meaning one who loves her country, (Burstein xxii). However it is not her
accomplishments or the love of her country that she is remembered for, but for her beauty; or
rather, her rumored beauty. Today, even with so much evidence pointing to the queen having been
much more average looking, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wanting to avoid yet another Roman civil war, Octavian did not want to pit Romans against
Romans, and so he instead chose to ignore Antony and focus Rome s suspicion and hostility on
Antony s wife Cleopatra instead (Schiff). Two themes dominated the propaganda spread by
Octavian. The first being that Cleopatra had used sex to ensnare Antony and lure him away from
his wife (and Octavian s sister), Octavia, causing him to become totally subservient to the
Egyptian queen who was now forcing him to oppose Rome s best interests by giving Cleopatra
and her children Roman territories; and the second, and arguably worse, theme was that Cleopatra s
true goal was not to secure the welfare of Egypt, but the subjection of Rome to Egypt (Burstein

Introduction
Wireless Networks can be broadly classified into three categories: Infrastructure based networks,
Wireless LANs and Ad Hoc Networks. Infrastructure based networks are traditional cellular systems
which requires base station infrastructure. Wireless LANs are very flexible within the reception
area. It requires low bandwidth when compared to wired networks. Ad Hoc networks is useful
when the infrastructure is not available, impractical or expensive to build.
In Cellular Wireless, spaces are divided into cells. Each cell consists of base station which is
responsible to communicate with the hosts in its cell. Hosts moves from one cell to cell to another
and hand off occurs, the new base station takes care of the communication. In Multi hop wireless,
mobility causes change of route. Hence it need to traverse multiple links to reach destination. Ad
hoc network is a self organizing multi hop wireless network which relies neither on infrastructure
nor on the predetermined connectivity.
Rapid deployment of independent mobile users will be the need of the next generation wireless
communication systems. A mobile ad hoc network is an autonomous collection of mobile users that
communicate over relatively bandwidth constrained wireless links. Network scenarios which
include establishing survivable, efficient, dynamic communication for emergency/rescue
operations, disaster relief efforts, and military networks cannot

Where the Red Fern Grows
Where the Red Fern Grows by Fgosal
Where the Red Fern Grows tells about a man named Billy Colman, whose mind drifted away
back on his boyhood memories when he got his dogs. The young Billy was a boy who wanted
two coon hunting dogs of his own more than anything in the world. He worked very hard by
selling wares and saved money to pursue his dreams. After two years, he finally had enough
money for two dogs. Billy made a difficult journey to get his dogs. He loved his dogs very much
and spent almost a whole time to train his dogs. Eventhough there were many problems came to
him and his dogs, they could passed them. This strong bonds between them finally reached the
climax when Billy joined the coon hunting championship and won it. In ... Show more content on

Second, in the book Little Ann was known to be smarter than Old Dan, but in the movie they
looked alike and had no difference from their appearance and characters. Third, the book tells
about how Billy caught the first coon to train his dogs, while the movie did not show such an
action. The next difference is the chapter 11 of the book tells about Little Ann who almost got
drowned in the icy water and Billy could save her owing to his old lantern, but we couldn t see it
in the movie. Another different thing is when Billy and The Pritchards boys, Rainie and Rubin,
had a bet to tree the ghost coon. The book mentions that they betted two dollars for it, but 5 dollars
in the movie. It is said in the book how Little Ann won the best looking hound contest, but the
process didn t appear in the movie. The last thing is in the book Billy got 4 coons, so he could
win the contest, while in the movie it is said that Billy didn t win the championship but he was
given the title by Mr. Bellington, the one who won the match. Both the novel and the movie have
the strengths and weaknesses. In my opinion, it is more clearly explained about the strong bonds
between Billy and his dogs in the book than in the movie. I can really understand how much Billy
loved his dogs, and the expression of love was more in the book than in the movie. The book gives
more detailed information than the movie. However, I prefer watching the movie because it seems

Who Was The Captain Of Industry During The Industrial...

Think about how much power that America has today, have you ever thought about who was
responsible? Many people sacrificed many things to grow America to the powerhouse that it is
today, whether it be the illegal selfish acts people used to become rich, the grown men forcing
young children into labor, or the sacrifice of turning the global environment into a future wasteland,
without them we would not be anywhere close to the success we are at today.
The Industrial revolution delivered both wonders and worries to America. Although the Industrial
Revolution turned America into the richest and most successful nation, it also brought hardships
and corruption. The outcomes of the Industrial Revolution were greatly influenced by two groups
of people: The Captains of Industry, and the Robber Barons. The Captains of Industry are the men
responsible for the success of America during the Industrial Revolution. The guys mostly
remembered for their dedication and work for America are, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, and
John D Rockefeller. J.P Morgan was a very successful and influential man who made his money
from banking and owning many companies and stocks. He is mostly known for bailing out the
National Government and saving the country from an economic downfall. Andrew Carnegie and
John D Rockefeller could be considered on both sides of the spectrum. They made steel and oil

Research Paper on Hurricane Wilma
Hurricane Wilma
November 24, 2015
Geology 1401
Introducion: Cyclones, Hurricanes, and Typhoons, these cyclonic storms are known by many
names but are all born from the same mechanism: low pressure systems. Also known as
depressions. Thankfully, most hurricanes form only during hurricane season, which is from June
1st to November 30th. Within this season about 85 percent of the most intense hurricanes and 60
percent of minor Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes originate from African easterly waves
(NOAA Cyclone Report). These waves, which have a wavelength of 2000 to 2500 kilo meters,
originate close to or from the highlands of Ethiopia, Africa. Not all easterly waves become
hurricanes, but the ones that do travel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to its 213 trillion teraflops, NOAA is able to release fairly accurate 5 day forecasts of
hurricanes. Granted, after 3 days the accuracy of these forecasts declines but they do serve as very
accurate maps within those first 3 days.
Hurricane Wilma On the evening of October 15, 2005 tropical depression number 24 appeared in
Atlantic Ocean, its winds at a mere 35 kilo meters per hour, pressure of about 1004 mb and
heading West at a pace of 5 kilo meters per hour. In the next few hours, the winds of depression
number 24 gradually increased to 45 km/h and on the morning of October 16, it had reached
speeds of 55 km/h. On the 17nth of October this depression developed into tropical storm Wilma ,
with wind speeds at about 65 km/h and an internal pressure of 1000 mb. At about 10 A.M the
Yucatan Peninsula was issued a warning, alerting them of the possible dangers from Wilma.
Following an erratic pattern of movement, experts were not sure where Wilma was headed. On
the morning of October 18 Wilma was about 810 km from Punta Allen, Mexico. Wilma once
again intensified reaching speeds of 120 km/h, by the end of the day it was officially a category
II hurricane at 175 km/h. On the 19nth at 4 A.M, about 595 km from Punta Allen, Mexico
hurricane Wilma quickly reached wind speeds of 280 km and pression levels of 980 mb, at these
speeds Wilma was now classified as a category V. The rate at which

Explain Mr. Proctor s Point Of View Of The Crucible
The Colony Abigail s point of view. I was awakened by the sunlight streaming through my

was a live in servant for the Proctors, Mrs. Proctor was very uneager about me being there, but I
think Mr. Proctor has taken quite a liking to me. While I was cleaning up the dishes, I caught
Mr. Proctor staring at me. He s quite old, turned sixty not too long ago, but he does seem to be a
nice man. The fits and hysteria had all started about a month ago. My friends and I went to the
doctor, but they said nothing was wrong. Mr. Proctor has started worrying about his reputation,
being one of the employers of the afflicted girls . He thinks that he can beat out the fits that were

Summary Of The Feminine Mystique
Ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution granted American
women the right to vote a right known as woman suffrage. At the time the U.S. was founded, its
female citizens did not share all of the same rights as men, including the right to vote. (History.com
Staff). The constitution being amended in 1920 making the 19th Amendment was a huge spark
towards the start of equality between men and women. In 1963, The Feminine Mystiquewas written
by Betty Friedan, and it made her a household name. It was often seen as the beginning of the
Women s Liberation Movement. In this book, she seeks to find information about the unhappiness

Betty Friedan knew that women were in depression over the fact that women couldn t be viewed
as equal and being able to do the same thing as men. She wrote the book to produce an image to
the American population of how women tried to integrate in contempt of their lack of
fulfillment. In the Feminine Mystique, she states Each suburban wife struggles with it alone. As
she made the beds, shopped for groceries, matched slipcover material, ate peanut butter
sandwiches with her children, chauffeured Cub Scouts and Brownies, lay beside her husband at
night she was afraid to ask even of herself the silent question Is this all? (Friedan). She takes the
time to notice that women across the country are living in a world where they are scared to step
up and attempt to be more and above the norm of society. She wants women to realize they aren t
alone on the aspect of wanting to be more than just a house wife. Women need to start being

The Impact Of Payment With Credit Card
Abstract: In a field experiment, we measure the impact of payment with credit card as compared
with cash on insurance company employees spending on lunch in a cafeteria. We exogenously
changed some diners payment medium from cash to a credit card by giving them an incentive to
pay with a credit card. Surprisingly, we find that credit cards do not increase spending. However,
the use of credit cards has a differential impact on spending for revolvers (who carry debt) and
convenience users (who do not): Revolvers spend less when induced to spend with a credit card,
whereas convenience users display the opposite pattern.

This decline in savings roughly coincided with a secular increase in the dissemination and use of
credit cards, raising at least the possibility that the proliferation of credit cards contributed to the
downward trend. While it is true that the total level of credit card debt is too small to account for
much of the decrease in the savings rate
(Parker 1999), it is possible that credit cards could contribute to low savings if accumulated
credit card debt is being transferred to other forms of debt, such as borrowing against real estate.
Beyond the rationale for regulation based on macroeconomic goals, there might also be a
rationale for the regulation of credit cards based on individual welfare. If credit card use leads to
supra optimal spending and ultimately to personal financial hardship, their regulation could be
potentially justified on much the same basis as the regulation of certain types of drugs, which
are outlawed because they are viewed as too tempting and dangerous. There is, in fact, some
evidence of a correlation between debt and financial distress. For example, Brown et al. (2005)
observe a negative correlation between unsecured debt, including credit card debt, and
psychological well being. Brown et al. also found no comparable relationship between secured i.e.
mortgage debt and well being. But again, one cannot infer causation; it may be that credit card debt

Taking a Look at Politics in Thailand
Political chaos , protesting , turmoil , and crisis are all words that can be linked to Thailand in
recent weeks and on and off over the last eight years. From November 2013 until February 2014,
there was constant distress throughout the country relating to the current political system and the
leaders of Thailand. People were flooding the streets in Bangkok to protest the government or
waving Thai flags to show support of Thailand.
All across Thailand people were upset with the government and showing it by protesting in the
capital city of Bangkok. The reason for this unrest to spread through the country is an amnesty
bill proposed to the parliament of Thailand. This bill would allow the self exiled former, Prime
Minister Thaksin to return to Thailand without being punished for the crimes he had been charged
of. The current Prime Minister Yingluck is actually Thaksin s sister and many people feel she
does whatever Thaksin asks her to do. Thaksin was part of an extremely corrupt government and
thousands of people were angered when they heard that he could be allowed back into the country
as a free man.
The role of the King of Thailand is important to understand the different priorities of the
protesters. The current King is beloved by all in Thailand and he is respected as much as the gods
in their religion. If anything bad is said about the King, the speaker can be given a jail sentence.
The King does actually have power, unlike the queen of England. As the

  • 2. Chaos And Chaos In Oedipus Chaos is an ubiquitous force in nature that can found anywhere and at anytime. A little chaos is the key to keeping society together, but an excessive amount is detrimental to humanity and the ways of the world. Oedipus Rex by Sophocles and Oedipus Out of Joint by Jean Pierre Vernant help us understand Oedipuss downfall and the devious role chaos plays in the whole affair. Attempting to fight for order in the battle against chaos for authority, his actions serve as an expedient for the pandemonium that develops in his life meanwhile entrapping himself in an inescapable entanglement that he inadvertently inflicts upon himself. Chaos has the uncanny ability of slipping through the cracks of a city s firm foundation and poisoning the area. Disguised as a hero, Oedipus is welcomed as the king of Thebes and is endlessly praised for his gallantry and wisdom. Citizens view him as the savior who rescued them from the Sphinx s wrath, but unbeknownst to them and even Oedipus himself, he is the very pollution who causes all the ongoing chaos in the city. He vows to expose and penalize the murderer for the unjustified act of regicide to appease Apollo and lift the plague, yet when Teiresias accuses him of being the contamination, he repudiates the charge and blames Creon instead of accepting responsibility. His wisdom fails him even with evidence staring him in the face, and hubris blinds him to the painful truth that he killed his own blood. By slaughtering his father, he takes Laius s identity and transfers into the stage of an old man: But the moment he slips into old age... he becomes at best a man of words and of wise counsel, and at worst a pitiable wreck (Vernant, 167). Once Oedipus is unmasked as the perpetrator, they pity the broken man he becomes, but are disgusted by his vileness, and exile him to a lifetime of suffering protecting themselves from the fury of Apollo that Oedipus imposes upon them. Just as chaos can unconsciously invade a city, it can seep into the mind, the fragile thing. Quick to anger, Oedipus s actions only manages to provoke resentment he will learn to regret later on. Rage? Why not!/And I ll tell you what I think:/You planned it, you had it done, you all but/ Killed him with your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Statement Of Sop For Computer Engineering STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Dreams, dreams are what we live for, what we believe in, and what we want to achieve. We live because we dream. I had my childhood ambition of doing something great, something different for myself. I ve always had this little dream of doing something big. At present we are in a technological and computing revolution that will severely change our lives and eventually readdress what it means to be a human. I am very galvanized at the prospect of devoting my career to such a dynamic, fast advancing field. From the time I was young, I loved dabbling with computers and experimenting with various applications. My lifetime has essentially coincided with the rise of modern computing industry, I can feel that there are still tremendous developments to come in this field. So I choose Computer Science as my university major, and now, as I am in the end of my undergraduate course, my central goal is to continue my education in a more competitive and international environment. Any tryst with sciences, mathematics or any area... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also learned sundry subjects such as Database Management Systems, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Computer Organization, Software Engineering, etc with verve. I have observed on various occasions that there exists a wide gap between learning and implementation at the undergraduate level, to hugely distance an engineering student from a professional engineer that he meant to be. The undergraduate courses will enable a student to grasp the fundamentals involved in a particular discipline of Engineering, they do not present an opportunity to learn the ropes of technologies that are currently within the industry. So, a bachelor s degree provides a sound alternative to take a direct leap from schooling fundamentals to industry standards, it is still insufficient for an Engineer to make it out in the professional world. So, I opt for a graduate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ensr International ENSR International Which of the proposed solutions do you favour and why?
Of the 3 options provided, I would choose to implement Anderson s key account program for several reasons: 1. It will help align employee compensation with overall corporate profit objectives. CSC managers are currently compensated based on their CSCs profit performance. This gives managers the incentives to employ their own CSC consultants on projects from the region, regardless if there are better suited ENSR consultants working under different CSCs. Depending on the specific needs of a prospective client in the manager s region, the CSC may or may not contain the necessary expertise to win a project. Implementing a key account program will allow the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, ENSR might lose out on several clients because the BDOs aren t able to provide clients with the right knowledge and expertise. 4. In some RFPs, the bid requires the consultant to outline the scientific approach that they would take in resolving the conflict presented. This is a section of the RFP that drives cost and time required to complete the RFP. By implementing a key account program, consultants will be put on projects where they have expertise, and this should allow this process to be as resource efficient as possible. 5. In the case, it states that it is common for some companies to begin discussions with consultants well in advance of actually drafting and distributing an RFP. These discussions helped the company to conceptualize more clearly the nature of the project and the specific consulting needs. Having a key account team will guarantee that the client is getting the right type of expertise, and will increase ENSR s chance of including its own insights into the drafting of the RFP. What is the ideal client for ENSR? The ideal Client for ENSR is clients who have strong relationships with ENSR consultants. ENSR gains from having repeat customers, notably customers willing to partner with ENSR for a sole source contract. Having strong relationships reduces the amount of expended company resources (consultant time and money). Consultants will then be able to spend less time prospecting clients and building relationships, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the works of Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda, The Mother Poem (two) by Jackie Kay, Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya, and The Story of a Mother by Hans Christian Anderson, mothers carry similar beliefs, emotions and values. Rukmani, an educated daughter of the village in India marries a farmer at a very young age. A mothers first priority is their children and when he or she becomes sick, she tries her best to cure their child. In the story, the mother gives all she can to get her child back from Death, but in the end she must let go of her child for its sake. One cannot explain the pain of losing their child, but the pain a mother receives when she has a choice between giving her child away willingly or having the child to live a miserable life with her is unexplainable. A woman who has been taking care of her son for three days, rests only for a moment and in that single moment her child is taken away from her by Death. The woman believes she can bring her child back from Death, but by the end of the story, she prays for the child to be gone into the God s kingdom and away from all the misery. Although the mother wants her child back to her, she values other mothers as well and does not wish to harm their children. As the mother threatens to pick two flowers, Death warns her that other woman will suffer as she is, and she quickly withdraws from flowers, despite knowing Death may not listen to her commands of giving the child back. But in the midst of this, the mother is hurt and miserable without her child, but she must give the child away for its happiness. • 8. Acids And Its Effect On The Wine Industry I know that the topic of acids in wines have been discussed many times in our wine circles. It is important to realize that both good and bad acids exist in the wines that we drink. Let s look at acids in wines and their effects on the final product that we all enjoy so much. The relative amounts of tartaric and malic acids vary depending on the grape variety and on where the grapes are grown. For example, in Burgundy, the Chardonnay has a lower concentration of malic acid than a Chardonnay grown in the Napa Valley of California. Both tartaric and malic acids are nonvolatile which means that they do not evaporate or boil off when wine is heated. An example of a Volatile acid in wine is acetic acid (vinegar). Acetic acid does boil off when heated, and is undesirable in wine. Volatile acidity of 0.03 0.06% is produced during fermentation and is considered a normal level. Tartaric and malic acids are produced by grapes as they develop. In warm climates, these acids are lost through the biochemical process of respiration. Grapes grown in warmer climates have lower acidity than grapes grown in cooler environments For example, Chablis (France) produces grapes with high acid because the climate is very cool, while Napa Valley produces grapes with lower acidity because the climate is warmer. Sugar production in a cold verses warm climates is completely opposite of acid production. The warmer the climate the higher the sugar content of the grapes. Australia verses ... • 9. The Arab Israeli Conflict Essay According to an apocryphal story, Pope John Paul once said that he believes there are two possible solutions to the Arab Israeli conflict, the realistic and the miraculous. The realistic being divine intervention, and the miraculous being a voluntary agreement by both parties. On September 13th, 1993, it looked like the miraculous had happened when the Oslo Accordswere signed by Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Chairman Yasser Arafat on the White House South Lawn. However, the objectives of the historic accords were never fully implemented and the Palestinians remain a stateless nation. Further steps toward Israeli Arab peace, including the Cairo Agreement, Oslo II and the Camp David Summit, have fallen short of the goals of both parties. When he became president in 1993, Bill Clinton and his advisors did not initially make Israeli Palestinian peace a priority. The administration looked first to other Middle Eastern affairs, believing that an Israeli Syrian agreement was more likely, and that the policy of dual containment in Iran and Iraq was more pressing. They thought that once they made a breakthrough between Israel and Syria the Lebanese would be close behind, and that this would put pressure on the Iran and Iraq, the biggest opponents of any sort of Israeli Arab peace deal (US Office of the Historian). • 10. What Are The Similarities Between Lying And Bullshit One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. (Frankfurt). This statement truly defines the current situation of our life. I have developed a decent interest in this topic because we are surrounded by it and the majority of people don t recognize it. There have been a lot of difficulties in understanding this topic as there are no particular theory has been given to this topic. According to Frankfurt bullshitis unavoidable at conditions in which we expect somebody to talk without recognizing what he is discussing. Therefore, the production of bullshit is based on the opportunities that an individual have to express more on a particular topic than his knowledge on the particular topic. We are going to talk about the similarities and differences between lying and bullshit. We will also discuss that which one is more harmful to the society and why, we are also going to discuss about some of the questions that are related to bullshitting in our life and discuss why we are not doing anything about it or it is just a human tendency. Lying is the practice of communicating lies and there are many similarities between lying and bullshit. First the main aim of liars and bullshitters are that they both want the other person to believe that they are telling the truth. Secondly they both want to get away with the situation which led them to tell a lie or bullshit. But there is a great difference between lying and bullshitting. The liar has an ... Samuel De Champlain Jacques Cartier VS Samuel De Champlain Jacques Cartier was a determined, intelligent, and patient explorer of France who was born on December 1, 1491. On the contrary, Cartier was determined and believe in himself that he could make it through this journey without dieing and hoping to find a new path too gold and spices. Although in the end Cartier did not find a new path too gold and spices, he sailed many new parts of north america like GaspГЁ in which he met an Iroquois chief and made many valuable trades with this chief. Cartier also raised a 9 foot cross in the honor of his king while he was in GaspГЁ. These two pieces of evidence prove that Cartier was a determined explorer. In the end of his magnificent years of sailing Cartier was a very determined explorer who knew he could get anything done. Cartier was a intelligent leader which led him too successful journeys and explorations, he had to make many tough decisions like how many people should be on his crew, but lucky he was an intelligent person a made these decisions correctly. Cartier showed intelligence because on each voyage he went on he increasingly brought more crewmen. Explain how the writer used language features to make that idea seem important. In the short story The Red Sari by Apriana Taylor, there are many themes being conveyed in the story, the most prominent being the cultural conflict and tension between the narrator and the Indian beggars. Language features play a vital role in the story, and Taylor uses language features to convey his important ideas and messages to the reader. In The Red Sari, Apirana Taylor also shows that cultural differences can lead to misunderstanding and discomfort. He uses the first person narrative to show his actions and thoughts. • 15. The Cry Of The Children By Elizabeth Barrett Browning Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children is a poignant look into the horrid practice of child labor that took place in the mines and factories of 1840 s industrial England. Browning paints such a vivid, disturbing picture that she aroused the conscience of the entire nation. A new historicist perspective into this poem will help understand why Browning decided to take a stand and speak up for these children through her work. The poem opens with, Do ye hear the children weeping, O my brothers, ere the sorrow comes with years? This one sentence embodies the whole work and does a good job drawing in the reader. Equally as important is the use of O my brothers as it relates to the intended audience, of which Elizabeth Browning is part of. That is the upper class. If the tone were one of reprimand for the treatment of children, instead one of a sense of shared guilt; it s possible it may not have been so accepted by her peers. Elizabeth Barrett Browningwas already a published poet at the time she wrote Cry of the Children in 1843. In 1838, The Seraphim and Other Poems appeared, the first volume of Elizabeth s mature poetry (Everett, 1). If fact, Browning was said to have written poetry as early as age six. Causes And Consequences Of The Housing Bubble A combination of factors in the early 2000 s caused the perfect economic storm to trigger the worst recession the United States had experienced since the Great Depression of the 1930 s. The housing bubble and subsequent burst left homeowners owing more on their mortgages than the property was worth and fueled the financial crisis of 2007 2009. Many economists label the housing bubble as the single largest contributing factor to the financial crisis. Caused by low interest rates, relaxed standards on lending and the misguided belief that prices and the value of homes would continue to rise, the US economy is still recovering from the effects of the housing bubble. To understand the causes and consequences of the housing bubble, we must first define it. In general terms, an economic bubble is characterized by a surging increase in asset prices to levels significantly above the fundamental value of that asset (Campbell, 2011). The housing bubble was characterized by steeply rising home prices, with no corresponding rise in home rentals as shown in Figure 1. Case Shiller examine the origin of the term housing bubble stating that the term appeared a few times in 1987 after the stock market crash. The term was not seen again in any frequency until 2002, when the press popularized the term. Several events occurred within a short period of time to start this cooling period that lasted 500 years. The warm period called the medieval maximum actually set events in motion. It is hypothesized that this warm period melted global ice packs, introducing a large volume of fresh water into the ocean interrupting the thermohaline flow. This stopped warm water from reaching the northern climates and therefore the atmosphere grew colder because of this. The second circumstance was the Maunder Minimum. This is a period of dormancy for sunspots. This results in less radiation reaching earth and less warmth available. The third event was actually a series of events. The structure that provides the longest duration of impact between the falling egg the ground will provide the desired results of an undamaged egg. • 33. The View Of The Afterlife Essay Classical World Influences Introduction The aim of my report is to explain how the view of the afterlife in Ancient Greece has shaped works of art, books and the mentality of people. In order to do this I am going to explore how ancient Greek people saw the underworld as well as Roman people and the Renaissance period. Because Greeks saw the underworld as a dark, dreadful and gloomy place, many of the works that refer to it, either in Roman times or the Renaissance, are influenced by this view. In particular works like the Odyssey by Homer or The Phaedo by Plato, explained to a certain level the structure of the afterlife in ancient Greece. These two pieces of literature severely influenced works like the book VI of the Aeneid by Virgil where he depicts the underworld referencing to the Greek point of view. But a deeper description of the underworld is given by Dante in his Divine Comedy where he uses Virgil as his guide, from the depths of hellto the Purgatory while Beatrice, Dante s ideal woman, guides him through heaven. All these time periods shared the idea of the underworld as being a place where souls pay the sins they committed during their lives. Afterlife in Ancient Greece The afterlife in ancient Greece was Known as Hades. It was a grey world ruled by Hades, the Lord of the Dead. If they had a virtuous life they could enjoy the sunny pleasures of the Elysium or paradise, if they had a wicked life, then they fell into the dark pits of Tartarus, while if they ... Despite the evident threats of bankruptcy, caste politics and Hindu Nationalism, India is a great example of unity in diversity and a beacon of high tech modernity . (Corbridge et al, 2013). However, it can be said that India is stuck between a prodigious need for cultural renaissance and the banes of class politics. (Pradhan et al, 2105: 12). The caste system in India is intricately correlated to class stratification and this is of immense political value in India as class and caste differences shape the politics in India till a great extent. In this essay, I will begin by talking about the association between class and caste, as this is an important aspect in order to understand how these issues shape the politics of India. Further on, I will talk about the gradual emergence of classes over the period of time and their influence on politics, beginning with colonial period and concluding with the modern India. I will then attempt to display the crucial role played by the classes during the 2014 elections. The essay will then discuss how the Indian middle class contributes to shaping the politics of India. • 41. Argumentative Essay On International Adoption Did you know that international adoption is a real argument between people? International adoption is a big topic between people; they either like it or hate it. Overall International adoption should be more acceptable considering the cost, the benefits, and various country exchanges. The history of international adoptioncomes from the Korean War. After the Korean War, Korean and biracial orphans were placed with American families. It started around the 1950 s. Many times in the past biological mothers would put their child up for adoption because of poverty, illness, or family crisis. However, international adoptionhas dropped more than 60% in the past decade ( International Adoption Facts: What You Need to Know ). In 2016 there were 5,370 International Adoptions. Then in 2015 American families adopted 5,648 children alone from other countries. In 2014 there were 6,438. In 2013 there were 7,092. In 2012 there were 8,667. In 2011 there were 9,319. In 2010 there were 11,058. As you can see the rate of international adoption is dropping every year by at least 1,000. This is caused because they are making it harder to adopt internationally ( Travel.State.Gov. ). International adoption is a good choice because most of the time the health of the children living in their home countries is not good. Most of the time they are very sick and need to leave their country otherwise they will die. When you go to pick up your child from their country, you can spend some time with your new kid before you leave to bring them to your house. It is also a good choice because you will make a big difference in a kid s life. In most of the adoptive cases you save the child s life ( 7 Reasons to Adopt a Waiting Child Internationally ). It is also a good choice because if you can not have your own kids, if you adopt internationally you don t have to struggle or pay for infertility. International adoption is what most American families/people do because American adoption can take over 2 3 years to be approved. Another good thing about international adoption is that you can get financial aid to help with the cost of adoption. Literature Survey On Anonymous Routing Protocols Literature Survey on Anonymous Routing Protocols Introduction Wireless Networks can be broadly classified into three categories: Infrastructure based networks, Wireless LANs and Ad Hoc Networks. Infrastructure based networks are traditional cellular systems which requires base station infrastructure. Wireless LANs are very flexible within the reception area. It requires low bandwidth when compared to wired networks. Ad Hoc networks is useful when the infrastructure is not available, impractical or expensive to build. In Cellular Wireless, spaces are divided into cells. Each cell consists of base station which is responsible to communicate with the hosts in its cell. Hosts moves from one cell to cell to another and hand off occurs, the new base station takes care of the communication. In Multi hop wireless, mobility causes change of route. Hence it need to traverse multiple links to reach destination. Ad hoc network is a self organizing multi hop wireless network which relies neither on infrastructure nor on the predetermined connectivity. Rapid deployment of independent mobile users will be the need of the next generation wireless communication systems. Betty Friedan knew that women were in depression over the fact that women couldn t be viewed as equal and being able to do the same thing as men. She wrote the book to produce an image to the American population of how women tried to integrate in contempt of their lack of fulfillment. In the Feminine Mystique, she states Each suburban wife struggles with it alone. As she made the beds, shopped for groceries, matched slipcover material, ate peanut butter sandwiches with her children, chauffeured Cub Scouts and Brownies, lay beside her husband at night she was afraid to ask even of herself the silent question Is this all? (Friedan). She takes the time to notice that women across the country are living in a world where they are scared to step up and attempt to be more and above the norm of society. She wants women to realize they aren t alone on the aspect of wanting to be more than just a house wife. Women need to start being creative in their own work and doing so will help them know herself as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Impact Of Payment With Credit Card Abstract: In a field experiment, we measure the impact of payment with credit card as compared with cash on insurance company employees spending on lunch in a cafeteria. We exogenously changed some diners payment medium from cash to a credit card by giving them an incentive to pay with a credit card. Surprisingly, we find that credit cards do not increase spending. However, the use of credit cards has a differential impact on spending for revolvers (who carry debt) and convenience users (who do not): Revolvers spend less when induced to spend with a credit card, whereas convenience users display the opposite pattern. Keywords: Credit cards, consumer spending, field experiments JEL Codes: C9, D1 We thank Uri Simonsohn and Ed Green for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This decline in savings roughly coincided with a secular increase in the dissemination and use of credit cards, raising at least the possibility that the proliferation of credit cards contributed to the downward trend. While it is true that the total level of credit card debt is too small to account for much of the decrease in the savings rate (Parker 1999), it is possible that credit cards could contribute to low savings if accumulated credit card debt is being transferred to other forms of debt, such as borrowing against real estate. Beyond the rationale for regulation based on macroeconomic goals, there might also be a rationale for the regulation of credit cards based on individual welfare. If credit card use leads to supra optimal spending and ultimately to personal financial hardship, their regulation could be potentially justified on much the same basis as the regulation of certain types of drugs, which are outlawed because they are viewed as too tempting and dangerous. There is, in fact, some evidence of a correlation between debt and financial distress. For example, Brown et al. (2005) observe a negative correlation between unsecured debt, including credit card debt, and psychological well being. Brown et al. also found no comparable relationship between secured i.e. mortgage debt and well being. But again, one cannot infer causation; it may be that credit card debt is ... Taking a Look at Politics in Thailand Political chaos , protesting , turmoil , and crisis are all words that can be linked to Thailand in recent weeks and on and off over the last eight years. From November 2013 until February 2014, there was constant distress throughout the country relating to the current political system and the leaders of Thailand. People were flooding the streets in Bangkok to protest the government or waving Thai flags to show support of Thailand. All across Thailand people were upset with the government and showing it by protesting in the capital city of Bangkok. The reason for this unrest to spread through the country is an amnesty bill proposed to the parliament of Thailand. This bill would allow the self exiled former, Prime Minister Thaksin to return to Thailand without being punished for the crimes he had been charged of. The current Prime Minister Yingluck is actually Thaksin s sister and many people feel she does whatever Thaksin asks her to do. Thaksin was part of an extremely corrupt government and thousands of people were angered when they heard that he could be allowed back into the country as a free man. The role of the King of Thailand is important to understand the different priorities of the protesters. The current King is beloved by all in Thailand and he is respected as much as the gods in their religion. If anything bad is said about the King, the speaker can be given a jail sentence. The King does actually have power, unlike the queen of England. As the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
