My research involves the synthesizing polyamine starting from readily available
building blocks namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to
capture carbon dioxide, an undesirable greenhouse gas which contributes to global
warming, from industrial processes. Currently, liquid amines are used industrially
and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable,
and degrade quickly. The novel use of a polymer as a material for this purpose could
solve many of these issues.
I chose three articles to review to get a better understanding of the current work
being done in the field. The first, Absorbent Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture
from Large Anthropogenic Point Sources by Christopher Jones gives an overview of
materials currently being used to capture carbon dioxide what I am attempting to do
with polyamine. The second, Steam Stripping for Regeneration of Supported Amine
Based CO2 Adsorbents, also by Jones, is a communications that discusses
regeneration of the amine once it has been used for carbon dioxide capture. The third

wheelchair experience, I was excited. I played in wheelchairs when I was young and

During an Odyssey trip of my own, I will be travelling to three different countries
doing different things while I am there to visit. My first destination is London,

Colosseum. The importance of the Colosseum, otherwise known originally as the
Flavian Amphitheatre, was that many of the materials, styles, and architecture were
inspiring to many architects and designers constructing today s modern facilities and

The emperor of Rome at the time, Vespasian, began building the Colosseum (Flavian
Amphitheatre) in 72 AD. They believed that in ancient Rome the patron was more
noble and loyal than the architects, and the architects were just craftsmen and hired
hands (Woog, 2014). So as of today the designers and architects are unknown to the
world, and will probably never be found out about because if limited evidence.

Often times it can be challenging when a group of random people is assembled
together and expected to work as a team. As anticipated, during the first weeks of
college, I have encountered this particular situation many times. Joining the cross
country team and classroom group projects are prime examples of this initial
awkward predicament. Yet, accomplishing the ropes coursewith my MOI group
definitely tops the list. Although my MOI group had a lot of things in common, we
still had many differences. As a group of acquaintances, we were asked to complete
difficult tasks. However, these challenges gave us ideal conditions to evolve from
acquaintances to a community of friends. But before we became a community, we
needed to allow ourselves to be clear and effective communicators and develop
trustworthy relationships. The ropes course was virtually impossible without proper
communication. I consider myself to be a good communicator, but the ropes course
