The Is Not A Good Thing
Wouldn t it be nice to be in complete bliss every day of your life? That seems like a stupid
question to ask; of course your first response would be, duh . Everyone wants happiness in their
life, that is why most of our decisions are based on whether it will make us happy or not. This is
where we underestimate the power of going through something sad or difficult. Although nobody
searches for sadness, it is vital that we experience some sort of pain in our lives to balance the
happy times, since there are risks of pursuing extreme happiness. Sometimes we can have too
much happiness, experience happiness at the wrong time, become sad when we are looking for
happiness, or even seek the wrong kind of happiness. While you may argue that... Show more

Having too much happiness could end up giving you the same effect as a drug; the more you have,
the more you want. Being too happy consumes us, and could also come when we do not need it.
When things go wrong, we need to feel bad, it only makes sense. Feeling happy when something
bad happens won t teach you anything. If you lost your job, but you re happy you lost it, then
you ll never learn the importance of a job. We also become more gullible when we re happy. This
may cause you to miss warning signs that you need to see, causing you to trust someone more
than you should. Fear ignites the fight or flight response. So, being too happy to acknowledge
this can create many problems. For example, if I am mindlessly walking my dog down the
sidewalk, headphones in, thinking of how excited I am for the weekend, I may not notice the
sketchy car that is driving up behind me. Being happy during the wrong times could make you
overlook something important, and could even make you worse off than you were before.
I ve learned in philosophy that the more you search for happiness, the less likely you will be to
find it. Epicureans believe that if you focus on what you are doing, rather than how you feel, then
pleasure will come. One reason for this may be because you are constantly searching in other
places, so you miss what is right in front of you. For me, when I came to college I was so

Social Deviance In Society
We all hear and talk about social deviance, but not all of us think what does social deviance mean
and how it happens among the societies where we live. In the news is always brought up as an
issue that disturbs the structure in communities that we built. Societies always see social
deviance as a negative phenomen that has been living among us for decades. How do we get a
rid of it and make our communities better? We all may know the answer and yet, we do not do
anything about it. Social deviance is a term used to define behaviors of individuals that are not
aligned with everybody s behaviors in the communities we live in. Individuals in power have set
standards on how to behave, act and think in terms of social structure. This diagram is supposed
to keep our communities running under control and order. If all of us were born in a free land,
how is it possible to restrain ourselves in the square foot of a shelf? One factor that leads to
social deviance is social disorganization in the communities of our neighborhoods. Referring to
the Code of Street in Cultural Deviance Theory, it is claimed that deviance behavior is learned
from those around us or the environment that we grow up. All neighborhoods in New York City
are different. The deviance behavior takes a different trait in each one of those neighborhoods. The
Code of Street describes a phenomena such as collective efficacy, which it means shared beliefs
and expectations of individuals in the society are

What Does Beatrice’s Language Show About Her Attitudes...
What does Beatrice s language show about her attitudes towards different men in the two different
scenes you have studied? 10th February 2012
Introduction
Much ado nothing is a romantic Shakespeare play about two couples of lovers. The play is set in
Messina, deep in the heart of Italy and is based in Elizabethan times. The lovers are namely;
Claudio and Hero, Bennedick and Beatrice. Claudio is a noble Florentine count from Florence.
Bennedick is a war hero from Padua. Both are honourable war heroes fighting for Don Pedro the
prince of Aragon. Beatrice is the niece of Leonato the Governor of Messina. At the beginning of
the play Don Pedro and his valiant fighters return from the wars to Messina. While at Messina
Claudio immediately falls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However beneath all this fancy language we can derive that Bennedick was painted all over
Beatrice s thoughts and she cannot resist asking about his well being. When the messenger states
he knows none of that name, Hero her cousin says My cousin means Signor Bennedick of Padua
this clearly shows that not only is Bennedick and Beatrice s thoughts he is also a subject of
conversation and discussion between Beatrice and Hero.
The way Beatrice speaks seemingly spitefully about Bennedick shows us she is perhaps interested
in Bennedick and trying not to arouse the suspicion of the messenger and her uncle. By adding
sarcastic comments and insults where Bennedick name appears shows us she is trying hard not to
bring out her real feelings for him, the name Signor Mountanto is one of the names Beatrice has
devised to insult Bennedick however the fact that the name is so complex in meaning and the
inside joke so well thought out shows us she has really thought about this insult and it has not an
insult off the top of her head. Beatrice is more devious and careful about relationships than Claudio
who seems rather desperate to get with Hero and throw himself headfirst into a relationship that he
perhaps knows nothing about. This suggests perhaps she has more experience in love and
relationships and has also experienced disappointment and is afraid of it.
STEP 3
When Bennedick and Beatrice meet they immediately engage in a fierce verbal battle,

How The Rate Of Reaction When Reacting With Magnesium...
Reaction Rate Lab;
Concentration
(Mg + 2HCl H2+ MgCl2)
Purpose:
How do different concentrations of Hydrochloric Acid (0.1 M, 0.5 M, 1.0 M, 2.0 M) affect the rate
of reaction when reacting with Magnesium ribbon strips?
Hypothesis:
If the hydrochloric acid has a greater concentration (2.0 M), there will be a greater reaction rate
than with a lower concentration (1.0 M, 0.5 M, 0.1 M). This is because if there is a greater
concentration, the chance of the reactants colliding is greater, thus leading to a faster reaction and
therefore a faster reaction rate. (Clark, Jim)
Variables Independent: Concentration of the Hydrochloric Acid (0.1 M, 0.5 M, 1.0 M, 2.0 M)
Dependent: Rate of reaction; amount of time needed to dissolve the Magnesium ribbon. (Time)
Control VariableHow it will be controlled
QuantityAll experiments will have the same quantity of reactants
TimerAll experiments will be timed with the same timer
EnvironmentAll experiments will be held in the same room
Size of containerAll experiments will take place in the same sized container
Materials:
25 mL Graduated Cylinder

Chemical Baggies Lab Report
Background: The Chemical Baggies Lab demonstrated to students how certain chemicals cause
diverse chemical or physical changes depending on what substances were mixed together in a
designed controlled experiment. During the process of this experiment, almost identical
observations were made about different combinations of chemicals that had at least one substance
in common. For example, the frequent observation that was made throughout the experiment was
that heat was felt. Even though there were distinct chemical combinations, there was one substance
that generated a certain observation or characteristic, such as a mixture has to comprise of the
phenol red for there to be a color change, which was learned from this lab. Also, calcium chloride...

Uncontrollable Human Desires In We By Yevgeny Zamyatin
The plot of the novel We by Yevgeny Zamyatin has a lot to due with the theme of uncontrollable
human nature being driven by desires. In the dystopian society the novel portrays, life is
drastically different from contemporary society. In short, the world went into a large war and
99.8 percent of the entire population was exterminated, and the survivors of the war created a
new society. This new society is highly totalitarianistic and controls all aspects of the citizens
lives , people are given numbers for names and almost all aspects of life are controlled by the
government. The rulers of the society are known as the United State, whose leader is known as
the Well Doer. The United State has a firm belief that all desires are irrationalities and are
mercessily targeted. And though desires are considered illegal in the society the narrator of the
story and main character D 503 experiences the overwhelming desire of love. D 503 is a well skilled
engineer, yet an unconventional individual who is constantly afraid of his uncontrollable sexual
impulses, caused by his humannature. Arguably the entire novel s plot is created because of D
503 s uncontrollable sexual feelings for the character I 330, who is a member of the
underground resistance. She leads him to join the resistance for a while, before he finds out he
has a disease called Imagination that all in all had caused him to fall in love for I 330, One word

ABSTRACT
Our society is constantly changing and these changes have an impact not only on our buying habits
and consumption but also on the hotel companies that must constantly adapt to meet new customer
requirements. When performing market research to determine customer loyalty strategy, hotel
marketers are often faced with questions that require application of both quantitative research
methods and deep knowledge coming from unstructured qualitative approaches. Subsequently, the
quantitative approach is used to design and test an instrument for web based service quality ... Show

The Theory And Practice Of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism
The Theory and Practice of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism First published in 1949, Orwell
certainly believed that the novel would have some higher purpose in the political sphere, and it
did. But perhaps it wasn t the purpose that was truly intended? Nearly seventy years after its first
appearance, 1984 can be found on many high school, college and political group reading lists.
Coining terms such as Big Brother, or thoughtcrime, the novel created an entirely new type of
dystopian society defined by many as Orwellian. But with close reading one can see that George
Orwell wrote 1984 for a very specific purpose. In 1984 Orwell writes about the dangers of
deviating from a true socialist society. In order to completely understand 1984, one must first
understand the history surrounding the novel. Written from 1947 to December 1948, 1984 first
hit shelves in June of 1949. The Second World War, which ravaged England, Europe, and much of
the world, ended a mere four years prior. Along with the rest of Europe, London was still
rebuilding from the constant bombings, and still mourning the incredible loss of life. But there was
a growing threat that could not be ignored. The Soviet Union, in an effort to prevent future attacks,
occupied much of Eastern Europe (known as the Eastern Bloc), including Eastern Germany, and
the eastern portion of Berlin. As the year 1948 came and went, the people of Europe saw the Berlin
Blockade, and the monumental airlift to keep West Berlin

Messiah of Masses
In the book Messiah of the Masses: Huey P. Long and the Great Depression, it describes and
outlines the life of Huey Pierce Long. In chapter one, the author (Glen Jeansonne) begins to talk
about Long s childhood days. Long was born on August 30, 1893 in Winnfield, Louisiana.
Winnfield was a part of Winn Parish in the northeastern section on Louisiana. He was one of ten
children born to his parents, Hugh and Caledonia (Callie) Long. Hugh Long was a man of great
intelligence and charm. The family moved around a lot, and in 1907 Hugh built one of the largest
homes in Winnfield, equipped with 16 rooms and all the commodities that were essential to living
a successful life. Many of Huey s siblings went on to school and earned a... Show more content on

Huey Long stands second to nobody. # Long acquired the nickname kingfish , given to him by
an associate, soon after being appointed governor. With obedience and schooling, Long s mind
could have made him a success in many different areas. However, Huey was never disciplined or
educated in the correct way, therefore causing him to borrow other s ideas. Much to the peoples
surprise, by 1930 Long had changed state politics drastically. Chapter four begins to tell what
occurs in Long s adventurous life next. At age 34, Huey Long was the second youngest
governor in the history of Louisiana. Because of his youthfulness, Long was inexperienced in
certain areas of politics. Making some strategic errors and miscalculating legislators attitudes
along the way, Long learned from his mistakes. Long possessed the qualities of understanding
the will of the people and that his power was basically dependent on approval of the people.
Although it seemed like Long was serving his office well, Cecil Morgan decided to lead a
movement to impeach Long. Huey was outraged, and began to use his power to his advantage by
threatening the job of Morgan s father. Long also began to manipulate and gain control over city
jobs; convincing them to give five to ten percent of their paychecks to the machine . Although

The Function Of A Memory
The capacity to form memory in face of stressful stimuli is an essential adaptive behaviour that
enables organisms to respond rapidly and effectively to similar demands1. The stress response is
largely mediated by the hypothalamic pituitary adrenocortical axis (HPA) coupled with the release
of catecholamines through adrenergic neural discharges1. These physiological mechanisms activate
downstream pathways that stimulate metabotropic alterations in neural networks, resulting in long
term memoryformation1. In animals and humans, stress mediated neuroendocrine responses
enhance the consolidation of emotional memories2. However, exposure to traumatic or chronic
stress can result in memory impairments as well as memory related psychopathologies such as
posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) 1. Noradrenergic mechanisms are largely implicated in the
mediation of emotional memory consolidation1. Therefore, the disruption of this mechanism during
periods when memories are in a molecularly labile state has been proposed as a clinical method of
pharmacologic modification of intolerable memories in psychiatric patients3. The application of ОІ
adrenergic receptorantagonists during periods of memory reconsolidation is a possible novel
mechanism of emotional memory modification in patients with memory related
psychopathologies4. In this paper, the influence of the noradrenergic receptor antagonists,
propranolol, on stress mediated memory reconsolidation will be characterized. Similarly,

Human Body And The Immune System
The Fundamentals:
When a person is sick, their first course of action is usually to take medication. While medication
can aid in sickness, the human body is actually built to naturally defend itself using the immune
system. The immune system is comprised of biological structures and processes that protect the
body from pathogens which cause disease or sickness. As much as the immune system does to
protect us, it is the chief hurdle of transplantation of living cells from one organism to another. The
immune system recognizes anything foreign put into the body as a threat that must be removed.
Consequently, transplanted tissue or organs meant to save a life are often attacked and rejected by
the recipient s body.
The immune system is a hodgepodge of different structures and pathways that work together as a
unit. It recognizes foreign objects that enter the body through antigens. Apart from identical twins,
no two people contain the exact same antigens [Adams 2011]. Once foreign antigens are noticed by
the immune system antigen receptors, T cells and B cells, it begins creating antibodies. Antibodies
are also called immunoglobulins and are proteins produced by white blood cells, which locate the
antigens on the surface of the foreign object and either neutralizes the threat directly or tags the
antigen to be destroyed by other immune system agents.
Allotransplanting is the process of transplanting living cells, tissues, or organs from one human
being to another. This process

Shortcomings of International Regimes Essay
Shortcomings of International Regimes International regimes are overloaded with high
expectations to address rising conflicts caused by major actors in international relations. Their
relative universality in comparison to domestic governance leads to state dependence on
international organizations, law, and norms to combat the surmountable power of major actors to
shape world politics. Although regimes possess the potential to shape the actions of and constrain
major actors in international politics, they are limited in their ability to truly do so. The
shortcoming of their power lies in the inability to enforce established agendas and the lack of
tangible incentives for nations to comply with the standards and regulations that such... Show more

However, liberal institutionalism negates to consider that major actors commonly only have
interest in relative gains rather than absolute gains. Although cooperation does create a more
efficacious environment for negotiations, international cooperation and approval have proved
superfluous in at least the initial stages of pursuing national interest, as recently demonstrated by
Nigeria s anti homosexual agenda. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan s mandate that sentences
same sex couples to a 14 year prison term and does nothing to combat the torture of citizens who
have acted against the legislation demands a response as it directly violates The Universal
Declaration of Human Rights as well as international ethics. So far the United States has merely
threatened sanctions and the United Nations has approved a non binding resolution stating that
Nigeria has violated an accord on human rights (Stack). The absence of concern expressed by
Nigerian authorities when they act against accordance of national regimes exemplifies the lack of
enforcement mechanisms that international institutions have. Non binding resolutions have done
very little to shape the activities of major actors. The self interest of nation states overrides their
sense of obligation to comply within the ideals of international regimes. This directly contradicts

Nursing Ethical Dilemma
Ethics #1. According to Nursing Leadership and management ATI ethics is defined as an
expected behavior of a certain group in relation to what is considered right or wrong. (Henery,
McMichael, Johnson, DiStasi, Ball, Holman, 2016) There are six ethical principles they are
autonomy which is the ability of the client to make personal decisions, even when those
decisions might not be in the client s own best interest. The second principle is beneficence
which is care in the best interest of the client. Third is fidelity which is keeping ones promise to
the client about care that was offered. The next principle is justice which is fair treatment in
matters related to physical and psychological care and use of resources. Then there is non
maleficence which is the nurse s obligation to avoid causing harm to the client. The last principle is
veracity which is the nurse s duty to tell the truth. (Henery, McMichael, Johnson, DiStasi, Ball,
Holman, 2016) Ethical Decision Making Process #2. 1.)Identify whether the issue is an ethical
dilemma. It must first be determined an ethical dilemma or not in order to move on to the next step.
2.)State the ethical dilemma, including all surrounding issues and individuals involved. It is
important that the patient know what the options are who will be involved and what issues can
affect the outcome. 3.)List and analyze all possible options for resolving the dilemma, and review

Australian Curriculum Essay
The development of a national curriculum for Australia is not a new endeavour (Marsh, 2010). The
ideal is that national curriculum across Australia would mean that students are provided with a
quality education that helps to shape the lives of the nations citizens and continue developing the
productivity and quality of life within Australia. The Australian Curriculum Assessment and
Reporting Authority [ACARA] have the task of developing and implementing a nationwide
curriculum. ACARA (n.d. c) claims have addressed needs of young Australians while considering
that changing ways in learningand challenges will continue to shape students educationin the future.

Another alternative is that curriculum as an outcome ties together the experiences of learners while
at school with the purpose to achieve goals and objectives (Reid, 2005).
The Australian Curriculum is not designed to stipulate the whole curriculum; rather it is a blueprint
that defines what students across Australia should be taught throughout their schooling years
(ACARA, n.d. g). The Australian Curriculum will provide specific information for the content that
is to be taught, the extent of understanding, level of knowledge and the achievement standards and
skills that will be expected of students (Hill, n.d.). Individual schools, teachers and communities
make decisions about which activities, events and community based traditions to include in the
classroom which focus on personal development and character (Hill, n.d.).
The Goal for Education
When meeting to discuss the educational goals that would apply to the curriculum for Australia,
The Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs
[MCEECDYA] committed to promoting equity and excellence and providing the support that
young Australians need to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active
informed citizens (MCEECDYA, 2008). The Australian Curriculum is designed to be world class,
providing challenges for students that prepare them for life long learning (ACARA, 2011b; Brady

Chromalveolata Observation Essay
The Chromalveolata supergroup has a clade called alveolates. The alveolates are named as such
because under their cell membrane it has an alveolus. An alveolus is a membrane enclosed sac that
has an uncertain responsibility however it is suggested that it has something to do with
osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is the maintenance of keeping the water quantity at a proper ratio.
Alveolates has three groups that consists of the apicomplexans, the dinoflagellates, and the ciliates.
The dinoflagellates can range from photosynthetic, mixotrophic, and heterotrophic which deals with
how an organism receives its nutrition needed for survival. A majority of dinoflagellates have
connecting plates that are made of cellulose and two ninety degree angled flagella. The flagella are
able to be positioned into the connecting plates. One of the flagella is surrounds the dinoflagellate
while the other one runs lengthwise. The function of the flagella is to assist the dinoflagellates
movement of rotation. Figure 1 demonstrates the wide variety that dinoflagellates can be.
Dinoflagellates can also start to glow due to stress. The group of apicomplexans is named due the
fact that it contains fibrin, microtubules, and vacuoles contained in a apical complex structure. The
function of the structure is for access to contaminate a host cell. The group of ... Show more content

Motor Vehicle Accidents Are The Number One Killer Of...
When it comes to auto maintenance, every aspect of your vehicle is important. This comes as
an obvious for most car owners. Despite this being common knowledge, a large majority of auto
owners tend to delay or neglect their maintenance altogether. In 2010, British American Auto
Care found that 85% of cars in the United States needed repair or maintenance. Not only does
regular service and maintenance reduce your costs, as scheduled maintenance outweighs large
repairs, it impacts your safety. The BAAC study went on to explain that, motor vehicle accidents
are the number one killer of people aged 1 44. Over 2,600 deaths occur each year because of car
neglect, and nearly 100,000 disabling injuries happen every year. This means that eleven people
are injured every hour and one person dies every three hours due to accidents which could have
been prevented. While all auto servicing is important, when it comes to the safety of you and
your passengers, your tyres are paramount. The study went on to find that 21% of vehicles
studied lacked ideal pressure, 16% lacked ideal depth and, potentially the most troubling, 11%
suffered from tyre damage. While these should come as obvious facts, let s delve into why
exactly you cannot put off your tyre care. If you fail to maintain your tyres, you should expect to

core performance components. Even if a tyre appears sufficient to

lifeless body on the bed, watching the life slowly leave his eyes. John s father was one of the
many individuals who agreed to be part of a clinical trial. He was suffering from poor health and
needed treatment. Fortunately for him, a team of medical scientists had discovered a foolproof
cure for John s father and many other individuals that share the same illness to have a chance to a
prolonged life.
Sir, we have discovered a new way to treat ailments such as yours; a new drug, boasted the scientist.
That sounds awful risky, how do we know this drug is safe? John asked skeptically.
We thought you might ask that, after months of researching... Show more content on

However, the approval rate for these developing drugs is the same as it was fifty years prior to
today. Out of the forty three hundred international companies involved in drug development, only
six percent have registered a new drug with the U.S Food and Drug Administration since 1950 (
Arguments Against Animal..., 2016, para.11). Millions of dollars are being spent on research that
produces little advances in the medical field.
In addition to the amount of money, millions of animals are killed in animal testing as well. Each
year, one hundred million plus animals are executed in U.S. laboratories for a range of
experimentations. These animals include mice, rats, frogs, fish, guinea pigs, birds, hamsters,
rabbits, cats, dogs, and monkeys. The lives of many of these animals are taken yet their death has
no contributions to new medicines. Along with the lives, researchers also waste a great deal of
valuable time by using animals to experiment. Each animal experiment can take the scientist
anywhere from two to four weeks and beyond. Again, very few medicines are approved for human
use, in turn, killing millions of animals for nothing and wasting time.
Unnecessary
Continuing, animal testing has been proven to be unnecessary for the development of medicine. In
the past, animals were the only reliable means to develop cures for the world. That was then, this is
now. Today s world has brought forth new means of experimenting. Alternatives to animal testing
have been

The Pentateuch s Book Of Genesis
The book of Genesis (which means in the beginning in its original Hebrew language) weaves an
intricate tapestry of Who YHWH is through the creation of the world and mankind, the Fall of
mankind through Adam and Eve, and YHWH s plans to reconcile the broken relationship between
His creation and Himself. A parallel is constructed in Genesis by [opening] with the beginning days
(Genesis 1:1 2:4a) and [closing] with the last days (Genesis 49:1), creating the framework for the
entire story of humankind. This parallelism is profound, not only in modern contexts, but because it
was so unusual for an ancient Near Eastern text to have eschatology theories. While ancient Near
Eastern deities might create the world, none of them had plans to... Show more content on

From there, Genesis is typically read and interpreted in three different ways: generically,
theologically, and literarily. First, in a general reading of the book, Genesis may be split into
two parts where chapters 1 11 tells the story of mankind in a universal scale that leads to a
narrower view in the personal stories of the patriarchs in chapters 12 50. Then in reading the text
theologically, readers should recognize the need for a covenant people (chapters 1 11) and the
subsequent formation of the covenant (chapters 12 50). This was presented through the
establishment of YHWH s covenant people (chapters 12 37) and their preservation in Egypt
before entering the Promised Land (chapters 37 50). Finally, in a literary context, a ten fold
Toledoth (translated as generations in Hebrew) is shown in two spans: Span 1 illustrates the five
generations from Adam to Abraham (chapters 2:4 11:26), while Span 2 unveils the five
generations from Abraham to Israel (chapters 11:27 50:26). These three interpretative measures are
interesting to note because no matter what angle a reader may approach Genesis, it all leads to the
coming Messiah. This is further emphasized in the genealogy of Jesus Christ in Matthew 1, in which
the line of Christ is traced back to Abraham, displaying the

Lab Report On Hydrogen Peroxide

BIOL133
Abstract
The reason for conducting this lab is discover is changing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)
concentration will affect the rate of reaction. During the experiment, the H2O2 rate will be
changed and pressure will be measured using a gas pressure sensor. The data suggests that as the
hydrogen peroxide concentration increases, the rate of diffusion increases and that my hypothesis
is valid.
Introduction
Hydrogen peroxide is a by product of biochemical metabolism. The accumulation of hydrogen
peroxide can be deadly, so it must be decomposed. One of the decomposing factors is an enzyme
called Catalase. Catalase breaks hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Since this is a
decomposition reaction, it is exothermic. Hydrogen peroxide can gradually degenerate itself, it
decomposes much faster with the help of Catalase which lowers the activation energy to the
minimum energy barrier that hydrogen peroxide molecules should overcome to decompose.

Dearest brother, I hope my letter reaches you in time. It has been a few weeks since I last heard

Homelessness. It s a problem all over the United States, a problem all over Missouri, and a

Rape is one of the most violent crime known to man. It is also one of the most challenging to
bring to court. Considering that rape and consensual sex can hold the exact same evidence aka
DNA evidence. The book Missoula: Rape and the Justice system in a college town by John
Krakauer, goes so far in depth about the rapes that some women endured while attending the
University of Montana. The way the sexual assaults are described make you feel as if you lived
them yourself. Other crimes such as murder are far more talked than rape. This is because it is
typically a crime the targets women. Men can be raped too. But it doesn t happen near as often.
Therefor, there is less media coverage. All over the globe people have different views on rape.
From people stating that women who dress provocatively deserve rape. To this quote by Jessica
Valenti; Now, should we treat women as independent agents, responsible for themselves? Of
course. But being responsible has nothing to do with being raped. Women don t get raped because
they were drinking or took drugs. Women do not get raped because they weren t careful enough.
Women get raped because someone raped them (p.1). The target of this book is about the rapes

Pinky was first sighted in June 2007 in Louisiana waters as a dolphin calf following its mother.
This time, it has been accompanied by another grey bottlenose dolphin. This means that they are

Some people claim that it has a rare genetic disorder, and not albinism. That isn t proved. Others
say that it is an Amazon River Dolphin, but its skin is smooth and splotch free, unlike the Amazon

making the pigment melanin fail to produce enough, or at all. This is usually because of a
deformation in a gene(s). Pinky s dolphin might have both been normal, gray bottlenose

Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Research Foundation. Founded in 1943, the NFIB is a
nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that represents the interest of small, private, and individually
owned businesses (NFIB Website, 2007). The research paper s author, Philips, is also a director for

Methods Used to Conduct the Research Project The main method of research used in this project
was data analysis. Philips first analyzed federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to
small businesses. He then compared that data to specific industry sector information to determine
how those factors changed the business requirements. Next he compared his consolidated data
against Wells Fargo s financial information to determine what pitfalls and problems small business

The Positive Impact On Healing After Surgery
In a New York Presbyterian Hospital program, healers such as energy workers or reiki masters
may be present while a patient undergoes mastectomy or other surgical procedures. According to
Dr. Feldman, Patients may be going through very difficult problems, such as accepting the loss of
a breast or the ability to breastfeed. Healers can help patients on the emotional level, which helps on
the physical level. The positive impact on healing after surgery can be potentially huge.
Reiki has also been used effectively in psychological treatment: Shore (2004) followed patients
being treated for mild depression and stress. After six weeks of treatment and for up to a year
afterward, those who had received Reiki showed both immediate and long term improvements in
depression, stress and hopelessness.
There are also contradictory studies and attempts by physicians to discontinue the use of Reiki in
clinical settings. An article in Medical Daily (August 20, 2014) cites a co authored paper by Drs.
Gorski and Novella calling for the end of clinical trials, labeling Reiki pseudoscience and highly
implausible treatment. They contend that these trials are a losing proposition and a waste of
medical budgets.

Zen Gardens Essay
Zen Gardens
Zen Buddhism began to show up in Japan during the eighth century. It went through various periods
of popularity and disregard, but constituted one of the most important influences on Japanese
culture. All Buddhist temples include gardens. The first temple gardens evolved from well
groomed landscaping around Shinto shrines. Later, the gates and grounds surrounding Buddhist
temples began to use gardens to beautify the temple, similar to the Heian mansion gardens. Jodo
Buddhism (Pure Land) used temple gardens as a way to symbolize the pure land created by Amida
Buddha to aid suffering souls in pursuit of enlightenment. These Zen gardens were meant to

Fishing on small boats to catch fish in their ponds was one popular activity. Poetry reading and

According to Feng shui, all structures have to be laid out carefully along compass lines and in
certain configurations to allow ki (Chinese chi ), the mystic energy of life to flow properly. A
reduced ki flow in a home was thought to cause sickness and disharmony. For example, the builders,
after consulting with a Yin yang diviner, would usually create special arrangements to prevent bad
ki from entering the home from the northwest. In the first Japanese garden design manual, the
Sakuteiki, it is explained how water courses should flow from the northwest to the southeast so
that any bad ki could be cleansed by the protective deity of the east Kamogawa (blue dragon),
then proceed west again passing under a veranda of the house so as to draw away any evil spirits
that might have somehow slipped into the house. Heavy stones were thought to serve as gates or
landing points for spirits and were thus placed very carefully. Other design rules applied as well.
Influenced by esoteric Buddhism, the garden design was expected to include an island in a pond
connected to the mainland by a bridge. This represented the world of enlightenment separated from
the world of man. The bridges were frequently arched and coated with bright red lacquer (another
Chinese influence).

at the University of California at Berkley and has taught previosuly at Harvard. In this specific
article Reich is looking at the problems within US economy, and the realization to what is really
happening and the differences between the different levels in the social classes here in the US. In
order to portray the apparent hidden truth to the matter, he refers to past issues and looks how or
where there may be differences. Ultimately Reich is looking to highlight these issues in where it
seems there is perhaps a large gap within the economic food chain.... Show more content on

The author moves through the paper moving to the next point, this being less based around the
problems with technological advances but more to the fact, that a lot of the jobs within the US
are now being lost to those citizens of the country due to the immigration numbers largely
increasing, this may not seem to be a deemed direct problem to the gap between the poorer class
and wealthier individuals. However Reich says the early 1980s they stopped hiring routine
producers in Shreveport and began hiring cheaper routine producers in Singapore (Reich 405).
Looking at these words from the author it clearly shows that he sees an issue with this, with the
foreign workers willing to work for less means that Americans are losing these jobs, Again in this
situation the rich are only winning, as they are getting the same labor services but for cheaper,
meaning both them individuals out of work aren t earning and those who may be in employment
are also struggling due to the wage which they are willing to work

The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston Essay
In the novel The Woman Warrior Maxine Hong Kingston uses ghosts to represent a battle
between American and Chinese cultures. The two cultures have different views of what a ghost
is. The Chinese believe the ghost spirits may be of people dead or alive. Chinese culture
recognizes foreigners and unfamiliar people as ghosts because, like American ghosts, they are
mysterious creatures of the unknown. Americans view ghosts as spirits of the dead that either help
or haunt people. American ghosts may or may not be real. There spirits are there but physical
appearance is a mystery. Chinese culture has many interpretations ghosts. One way they are seen as
is people who have disgraced their family or country. An example of this in the... Show more

This quote shows how the Chinese viewed Americans as ghosts. This quote shows how even the
husband, a Chinese man, could look like a ghost. Once he was Americanized he easily blended in
with all of the other Americans. The people look unfamiliar and are mysterious and have an
unknown culture. In the poem Hunger , written by Lee Samantha Chang, the author shows how
lost the Chinese characters feel in an American setting. Min, a Chinese woman who is stuck in
the alien setting of America, tells one of her experiences: Now I sat alone, I was overtaken by
fear. I longed to be back home in Brooklyn, curled up in Tian s big chair, with a Chinese story
book in my hand. (Hunger) Min was anxious because she was in a new environment and was
surrounded by what Kingston would call ghosts. And youВ—and eye not an IВ—/are walking
through it. (Moon and Outgrass lines 6 7) In this line from the poem, Moon and Outgrass shows
how the Chinese were viewed by the American ghosts . As part of her culture, Maxine s mother
tells her stories about ghosts giving her false impressions like when she was telling Maxine, Once
upon a time the world was so thick with ghosts, I could hardly breathe; I could hardly walk,
limping my way around the White Ghosts and their cars. There were Black Ghosts too, but they
were open eyed and full of laughter, more distinct than White Ghosts. (Kingston 97) Leaving
Maxine baffled as to whether

The Importance Of Georgia s Specialty Crops
The importance of Georgia s specialty crops have unending, positive factors. These extraordinary
crops have developed our economy and reputation. Half of Georgia s history deals with crops and
farming them to make a living for a family. Georgia wouldn t be the same without the factors that
it first started out with. Sweet Corn has always been a major income in the southern state. Native
Americans and European Settlers depended on grains to sustain life and trade. If something were
to take sweet corn away from Georgia, the economy would suffer . The same thing would happen
with any other specialty crop, here in Georgia. Georgia s peach industry has a long tradition. The

Strategic Capabilities
Strategic Capabilities 2011 Introduction Strategy is all about planning the next moves, making
decisions how and where to move forward from the current position. In the past, strategy was
associated mainly with the military sector, the top chiefs of command were making tactical
choices in order to defeat their rivals and achieve victory. In the business sector the purpose of
strategy is in principle the same, planning and building a road or path that will lead us to where
ever it is we want to be in the future and to overcome all obstacles that might lay on the way.
However, there is a difference between those two sectors, soldiers need only to follow orders

Hermia s Dream
With regards to William Shakespeare s comedy, A Midsummer Night s Dream, the theme of love
plays a central role throughout the play. When separating the play into its separate worlds being:
the social world and the green/comic world, the norms regarding love differs from one world to
the next. With reference to the given extract of Lysander and Hermia in the comic world, certain
threatening forces within the comic world surface to interfere with plot as well as the way in
which these dark forces are driven out in order for the play to remain comedic instead of tragic.
The world in which the lovers plot is predominantly set is in the comic world, where the comedic

Questions On Developing An Improvement Plan
Developing an Improvement Plan I have learned throughout this course that there are several
styles of negotiation. There are several ways to negotiate. We ve learned about distributive and
integrative negotiation. Negotiations can involve hardball tactics as well. This is not necessarily
the best way to conduct negotiations; we ve also studied ways in which to manage negotiations.
In this final paper I will examine my own negotiation style in concordance with the questionnaires
that I took. One of the questionnaires identifies perceptions of myself related to negotiations,
particularly it clarifies my perception of human behavior. The next questionnaire identified
communication competence, I will go over my outcomes from each questionnaire and provide a
summary of my negotiation results. Next, I will discuss things that I need to improve, and a plan
for doing so. Summary The two questionnaires taken were based upon identifying my personal
beliefs about negotiation and how I feel a person should negotiate. A few of my strongest points
involved valuing principles, sharing power, and honesty. I had several points that I strongly
disagreed with and thought were absolutely uncharacteristic of me. I noticed that I do not enjoy
conflict. I am not good at lying, I am not intersted so much in winning during a competitive
debate, an am not concerned about power. Some may take this as weakness or I may not be
viewed as an aggressive negotiator, but does that mean I am not a good

My Personal Opinion On The Game
I ve had the pleasure of enjoying about five or six hours of MP thus far, (I ve lost count.)
including an entirely sleepless night I took to stay up and continue playing to beat the campaign at
hand. Below, I ve written a release day review to assist you in deciding whether you would enjoy
this gameor not.
First of all, make no mistake, Battlefield Hardline isn t simply a reboot of BF4. Though every BF
game is similar to the others, Battlefield Hardline appears to be the freshest attempt at BF since
the release of BC. In my personal opinion, I m stoked that this game is a bit different, because if I
desire a military based FPS, the community surrounding BF4 continues to actively thrive!
I quickly observed that loading times appear to be longer than usual for the majority of FPS
games. However, I ve only played 5 hours of MP, which doesn t include beta). So, keep that in
mind, because though I wanted to note this fact, I don t want to create the impression that I don t
know how the game will ultimately play on your system when it s cooled down or that I m
knowledgeable about the progression system.
Reasons Why You Should Play the Campaign
Visceral has made a concerted effort to create an immersive campaign. In fact, it s my favorite BF
campaign, only second to BC2, obviously! I m entirely cognizant that it being my favored
campaign isn t really enough of a reason for you to gauge you re interest, but I want to further
convey my enjoyment I

President Franklin D. Roosevelt s The Saturday Evening Post
Freedom from Want is my favorite of all the ads I came across during research. The history of
this painting dates back to World War II and former President Franklin D. Roosevelt s speech.
During Roosevelt s annual State of the Union address on January 6, 1941, he spoke about four
freedoms. The four fundamental freedoms are freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom
from want and freedom from fear. Norman Rockwell was inspired by this speech and made
painting that depict each of the fundamental freedoms. Two years later, on March 6, 1943, The
Saturday Evening Post published the set of paintings by Norman Rockwell. The paintings later
became the centerpiece for war bonds advertisement and raised $130,000,000 in war bond sales.

Other country s economy especially countries in Europe had been damaged due to the war. The
extension of the table past it canvasses serve as an invitation for anyone and everyone to join in
the meal. So Americans would associate Thanksgiving a time to share and would be more
inclined to help. The turkey is the most noticeable piece in the painting. The turkey seems to be
well made and cooked to perfection. The turkey s beautiful appearance along with its enormous
size show plenitude and abundance. However, a large percentage of the world population in 1943
were living in hunger and poverty. At least 3 million people died from starvation and malnutrition
during a famine in the Indian province of Bengal (Lazzaro). Therefore the huge turkey in this
image serves as a motive. The huge turkey represents freedom from want. It creates the assumption
that the turkey (freedom from want) is worth fight for. Freedom from want is also a display of
patriotism. Rockwell chose to make illustrations of Roosevelt s proposed freedoms instead of
painting any random image. Freedom from Want affirms traditional American values, depicting
Americans as prosperous and free, and effectively communicates the warmth, security and hope of
an idealized vision of American family life. Freedom from Want encouraged those in 1943 to invest
in attaining such freedom

The Psychology Behind A Grocery Store
Many people do not realize the amount of research that goes into product placement in grocery
stores. Marketing directors and corporate managers come together to determine what will go in
which aisle and how high up on the shelves certain things will be. Buying is also controlled by
what samples are being offered in the store. Researchers majorly determine the consumers buying
experience; even to details as minute as the music that s playing in the store. Though it seems scary
to recognize that you re grocery shopping experience is somewhat predetermined before you walk
in the store, (change that), the research and psychology behind grocery stores essentially makes it
easier to navigate and shop. Additionally, the samples offered in the store... Show more content on

In general, stores put more sugary and kid enticing foods on the lower shelves; right is the line
of sight of children. Due to this, children are able to easily throw their hand out and pickup an
unhealthy but tasty food item and consequently beg their guardian for the snack. In most cases,
children throw temper tantrums when they do not get their way, and guardians usually end up
succumbing to the tantrum in order to silence the child. This is an example of an effective way
that grocery stores affect shopping in negative and unhealthy ways. Another example is the rows
of candy and gum at the register. Usually consumers do not go into supermarkets with the
intention of buying candy; however, when they re waiting in line to checkout and the candy bars
are right there, one may get a craving and impulse buy the candy. Additionally, the way the
content of the aisles are arranged is intended to keep you in the store longer. Normally,
supermarkets place milk, eggs, and other dairy items at the very end of the store (Nestle 497).
These are items that most people are purchasing when they go to the grocery store, so consumers
have to walk past every aisle in the store to get to what they intend to buy. Supermarkets put
enticing snacks, such as Oreos or holiday treats, on the ends of

Imperialism In South Africa
The failure of the Union of South Africa in achieving equality for all inhabitants was a result of the
prevailing factor of racial discrimination against native Africans. The pre existing desire to establish
a white supremacy characterised southern African colonisation which caused conflict between the
British and Boers (German and French settlers). The discovery of gold and diamonds in the Veld
instigated industrialisation and exploitation of African labour and with increased imperialistic
expansion, British and Boer forces declared war resulting in desecration of African land and
communities. The Union further cemented racial segregation against black societies with the
creation of European administrative structures that ensured settler minorities... Show more content

The existing tension between the Boer and British colonies was heightened due to the Boer s
increased concern about the domination of foreign miners (Uitlanders) in the Southern Transvaal
and the annexation of the region by the British in 1887. The president of the Boer colonies, Paul
Kruger overthrew the annexation and wished to maintain Boer control in the Transvaal by
imposing restrictive voting rights to the Uitlanders. The British considered this action as morally
corrupt and chose to take military action against the Boers therefore declaring war on October 9,
1899. The war ended in 1902 with the Boers relinquishing their independency by allowing Britain
to annex the Boer colonies. The defeat of the Boers was due to the implementation of the scorched
earth policy by the British which annihilated the opposition s farmland and livestock and exhausted
their food supplies. The tactic disregarded the land rights of indigenous people and further
separated their connection with the land and consequent identity. 26,000 Boer women and children
were placed in internment camps with 15,000 indigenous people being placed in concentration
camps where 10% of them died from disease and malnutrition. The 110,000 Africans assisting the
Boer and British forces in the war suffered from extreme hardships and discriminatory acts
including the disproportionate rationing of food supplies and inconsideration of land rights. The
victory of the British promised improvements to the living conditions of African people with
imperial politicians assuring that there would be equality for all races. The factor of the Anglo
Boer War resulted in the reduction of African communities and disregard for their interests for the

  • 2. The Is Not A Good Thing Wouldn t it be nice to be in complete bliss every day of your life? That seems like a stupid question to ask; of course your first response would be, duh . Everyone wants happiness in their life, that is why most of our decisions are based on whether it will make us happy or not. This is where we underestimate the power of going through something sad or difficult. Although nobody searches for sadness, it is vital that we experience some sort of pain in our lives to balance the happy times, since there are risks of pursuing extreme happiness. Sometimes we can have too much happiness, experience happiness at the wrong time, become sad when we are looking for happiness, or even seek the wrong kind of happiness. While you may argue that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having too much happiness could end up giving you the same effect as a drug; the more you have, the more you want. Being too happy consumes us, and could also come when we do not need it. When things go wrong, we need to feel bad, it only makes sense. Feeling happy when something bad happens won t teach you anything. If you lost your job, but you re happy you lost it, then you ll never learn the importance of a job. We also become more gullible when we re happy. This may cause you to miss warning signs that you need to see, causing you to trust someone more than you should. Fear ignites the fight or flight response. So, being too happy to acknowledge this can create many problems. For example, if I am mindlessly walking my dog down the sidewalk, headphones in, thinking of how excited I am for the weekend, I may not notice the sketchy car that is driving up behind me. Being happy during the wrong times could make you overlook something important, and could even make you worse off than you were before. I ve learned in philosophy that the more you search for happiness, the less likely you will be to find it. Epicureans believe that if you focus on what you are doing, rather than how you feel, then pleasure will come. One reason for this may be because you are constantly searching in other places, so you miss what is right in front of you. For me, when I came to college I was so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Deviance In Society We all hear and talk about social deviance, but not all of us think what does social deviance mean and how it happens among the societies where we live. In the news is always brought up as an issue that disturbs the structure in communities that we built. Societies always see social deviance as a negative phenomen that has been living among us for decades. How do we get a rid of it and make our communities better? We all may know the answer and yet, we do not do anything about it. Social deviance is a term used to define behaviors of individuals that are not aligned with everybody s behaviors in the communities we live in. Individuals in power have set standards on how to behave, act and think in terms of social structure. This diagram is supposed to keep our communities running under control and order. If all of us were born in a free land, how is it possible to restrain ourselves in the square foot of a shelf? One factor that leads to social deviance is social disorganization in the communities of our neighborhoods. Referring to the Code of Street in Cultural Deviance Theory, it is claimed that deviance behavior is learned from those around us or the environment that we grow up. All neighborhoods in New York City are different. The deviance behavior takes a different trait in each one of those neighborhoods. The Code of Street describes a phenomena such as collective efficacy, which it means shared beliefs and expectations of individuals in the society are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. What Does Beatrice’s Language Show About Her Attitudes... What does Beatrice s language show about her attitudes towards different men in the two different scenes you have studied? 10th February 2012 Introduction Much ado nothing is a romantic Shakespeare play about two couples of lovers. The play is set in Messina, deep in the heart of Italy and is based in Elizabethan times. The lovers are namely; Claudio and Hero, Bennedick and Beatrice. Claudio is a noble Florentine count from Florence. Bennedick is a war hero from Padua. Both are honourable war heroes fighting for Don Pedro the prince of Aragon. Beatrice is the niece of Leonato the Governor of Messina. At the beginning of the play Don Pedro and his valiant fighters return from the wars to Messina. While at Messina Claudio immediately falls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However beneath all this fancy language we can derive that Bennedick was painted all over Beatrice s thoughts and she cannot resist asking about his well being. When the messenger states he knows none of that name, Hero her cousin says My cousin means Signor Bennedick of Padua this clearly shows that not only is Bennedick and Beatrice s thoughts he is also a subject of conversation and discussion between Beatrice and Hero. The way Beatrice speaks seemingly spitefully about Bennedick shows us she is perhaps interested in Bennedick and trying not to arouse the suspicion of the messenger and her uncle. By adding sarcastic comments and insults where Bennedick name appears shows us she is trying hard not to bring out her real feelings for him, the name Signor Mountanto is one of the names Beatrice has devised to insult Bennedick however the fact that the name is so complex in meaning and the inside joke so well thought out shows us she has really thought about this insult and it has not an insult off the top of her head. Beatrice is more devious and careful about relationships than Claudio who seems rather desperate to get with Hero and throw himself headfirst into a relationship that he perhaps knows nothing about. This suggests perhaps she has more experience in love and relationships and has also experienced disappointment and is afraid of it. STEP 3 When Bennedick and Beatrice meet they immediately engage in a fierce verbal battle, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reaction Rate Lab; Concentration (Mg + 2HCl H2+ MgCl2) Purpose: How do different concentrations of Hydrochloric Acid (0.1 M, 0.5 M, 1.0 M, 2.0 M) affect the rate of reaction when reacting with Magnesium ribbon strips? Hypothesis: If the hydrochloric acid has a greater concentration (2.0 M), there will be a greater reaction rate than with a lower concentration (1.0 M, 0.5 M, 0.1 M). This is because if there is a greater concentration, the chance of the reactants colliding is greater, thus leading to a faster reaction and therefore a faster reaction rate. (Clark, Jim) Variables Independent: Concentration of the Hydrochloric Acid (0.1 M, 0.5 M, 1.0 M, 2.0 M) Dependent: Rate of reaction; amount of time needed to dissolve the Magnesium ribbon. During the process of this experiment, almost identical observations were made about different combinations of chemicals that had at least one substance in common. For example, the frequent observation that was made throughout the experiment was that heat was felt. Even though there were distinct chemical combinations, there was one substance that generated a certain observation or characteristic, such as a mixture has to comprise of the phenol red for there to be a color change, which was learned from this lab. • 9. The Theory And Practice Of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism The Theory and Practice of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism First published in 1949, Orwell certainly believed that the novel would have some higher purpose in the political sphere, and it did. But perhaps it wasn t the purpose that was truly intended? Nearly seventy years after its first appearance, 1984 can be found on many high school, college and political group reading lists. Coining terms such as Big Brother, or thoughtcrime, the novel created an entirely new type of dystopian society defined by many as Orwellian. But with close reading one can see that George Orwell wrote 1984 for a very specific purpose. In 1984 Orwell writes about the dangers of deviating from a true socialist society. In order to completely understand 1984, one must first understand the history surrounding the novel. Written from 1947 to December 1948, 1984 first hit shelves in June of 1949. The Second World War, which ravaged England, Europe, and much of the world, ended a mere four years prior. Along with the rest of Europe, London was still rebuilding from the constant bombings, and still mourning the incredible loss of life. But there was a growing threat that could not be ignored. The Soviet Union, in an effort to prevent future attacks, occupied much of Eastern Europe (known as the Eastern Bloc), including Eastern Germany, and the eastern portion of Berlin. As the year 1948 came and went, the people of Europe saw the Berlin Blockade, and the monumental airlift to keep West Berlin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In chapter one, the author (Glen Jeansonne) begins to talk about Long s childhood days. Long was born on August 30, 1893 in Winnfield, Louisiana. Winnfield was a part of Winn Parish in the northeastern section on Louisiana. He was one of ten children born to his parents, Hugh and Caledonia (Callie) Long. Hugh Long was a man of great intelligence and charm. Huey Long stands second to nobody. # Long acquired the nickname kingfish , given to him by an associate, soon after being appointed governor. With obedience and schooling, Long s mind could have made him a success in many different areas. Chapter four begins to tell what occurs in Long s adventurous life next. At age 34, Huey Long was the second youngest governor in the history of Louisiana. Because of his youthfulness, Long was inexperienced in certain areas of politics. Making some strategic errors and miscalculating legislators attitudes along the way, Long learned from his mistakes. Long possessed the qualities of understanding the will of the people and that his power was basically dependent on approval of the people. Although it seemed like Long was serving his office well, Cecil Morgan decided to lead a movement to impeach Long. Huey was outraged, and began to use his power to his advantage by threatening the job of Morgan s father. • 11. The Function Of A Memory The capacity to form memory in face of stressful stimuli is an essential adaptive behaviour that enables organisms to respond rapidly and effectively to similar demands1. The stress response is largely mediated by the hypothalamic pituitary adrenocortical axis (HPA) coupled with the release of catecholamines through adrenergic neural discharges1. These physiological mechanisms activate downstream pathways that stimulate metabotropic alterations in neural networks, resulting in long term memoryformation1. In animals and humans, stress mediated neuroendocrine responses enhance the consolidation of emotional memories2. However, exposure to traumatic or chronic stress can result in memory impairments as well as memory related psychopathologies such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) 1. Noradrenergic mechanisms are largely implicated in the mediation of emotional memory consolidation1. Therefore, the disruption of this mechanism during periods when memories are in a molecularly labile state has been proposed as a clinical method of pharmacologic modification of intolerable memories in psychiatric patients3. The application of ОІ adrenergic receptorantagonists during periods of memory reconsolidation is a possible novel mechanism of emotional memory modification in patients with memory related psychopathologies4. In this paper, the influence of the noradrenergic receptor antagonists, propranolol, on stress mediated memory reconsolidation will be characterized. Similarly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Human Body And The Immune System The Fundamentals: When a person is sick, their first course of action is usually to take medication. While medication can aid in sickness, the human body is actually built to naturally defend itself using the immune system. The immune system is comprised of biological structures and processes that protect the body from pathogens which cause disease or sickness. As much as the immune system does to protect us, it is the chief hurdle of transplantation of living cells from one organism to another. The immune system recognizes anything foreign put into the body as a threat that must be removed. Consequently, transplanted tissue or organs meant to save a life are often attacked and rejected by the recipient s body. The immune system is a hodgepodge of different structures and pathways that work together as a unit. It recognizes foreign objects that enter the body through antigens. Apart from identical twins, no two people contain the exact same antigens [Adams 2011]. Once foreign antigens are noticed by the immune system antigen receptors, T cells and B cells, it begins creating antibodies. Antibodies are also called immunoglobulins and are proteins produced by white blood cells, which locate the antigens on the surface of the foreign object and either neutralizes the threat directly or tags the antigen to be destroyed by other immune system agents. Allotransplanting is the process of transplanting living cells, tissues, or organs from one human being to another. This process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Shortcomings of International Regimes Essay Shortcomings of International Regimes International regimes are overloaded with high expectations to address rising conflicts caused by major actors in international relations. Their relative universality in comparison to domestic governance leads to state dependence on international organizations, law, and norms to combat the surmountable power of major actors to shape world politics. Although regimes possess the potential to shape the actions of and constrain major actors in international politics, they are limited in their ability to truly do so. The shortcoming of their power lies in the inability to enforce established agendas and the lack of tangible incentives for nations to comply with the standards and regulations that such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, liberal institutionalism negates to consider that major actors commonly only have interest in relative gains rather than absolute gains. Although cooperation does create a more efficacious environment for negotiations, international cooperation and approval have proved superfluous in at least the initial stages of pursuing national interest, as recently demonstrated by Nigeria s anti homosexual agenda. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan s mandate that sentences same sex couples to a 14 year prison term and does nothing to combat the torture of citizens who have acted against the legislation demands a response as it directly violates The Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as international ethics. So far the United States has merely threatened sanctions and the United Nations has approved a non binding resolution stating that Nigeria has violated an accord on human rights (Stack). The absence of concern expressed by Nigerian authorities when they act against accordance of national regimes exemplifies the lack of enforcement mechanisms that international institutions have. Non binding resolutions have done very little to shape the activities of major actors. The self interest of nation states overrides their sense of obligation to comply within the ideals of international regimes. This directly contradicts liberal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Australian Curriculum is not designed to stipulate the whole curriculum; rather it is a blueprint that defines what students across Australia should be taught throughout their schooling years (ACARA, n.d. g). The Australian Curriculum will provide specific information for the content that is to be taught, the extent of understanding, level of knowledge and the achievement standards and skills that will be expected of students (Hill, n.d.). Individual schools, teachers and communities make decisions about which activities, events and community based traditions to include in the classroom which focus on personal development and character (Hill, n.d.). An alveolus is a membrane enclosed sac that has an uncertain responsibility however it is suggested that it has something to do with osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is the maintenance of keeping the water quantity at a proper ratio. Alveolates has three groups that consists of the apicomplexans, the dinoflagellates, and the ciliates. The dinoflagellates can range from photosynthetic, mixotrophic, and heterotrophic which deals with how an organism receives its nutrition needed for survival. A majority of dinoflagellates have connecting plates that are made of cellulose and two ninety degree angled flagella. The flagella are able to be positioned into the connecting plates. One of the flagella is surrounds the dinoflagellate while the other one runs lengthwise. The function of the flagella is to assist the dinoflagellates movement of rotation. • 18. Motor Vehicle Accidents Are The Number One Killer Of... When it comes to auto maintenance, every aspect of your vehicle is important. This comes as an obvious for most car owners. Despite this being common knowledge, a large majority of auto owners tend to delay or neglect their maintenance altogether. In 2010, British American Auto Care found that 85% of cars in the United States needed repair or maintenance. Not only does regular service and maintenance reduce your costs, as scheduled maintenance outweighs large repairs, it impacts your safety. The BAAC study went on to explain that, motor vehicle accidents are the number one killer of people aged 1 44. Over 2,600 deaths occur each year because of car neglect, and nearly 100,000 disabling injuries happen every year. This means that eleven people are injured every hour and one person dies every three hours due to accidents which could have been prevented. While all auto servicing is important, when it comes to the safety of you and your passengers, your tyres are paramount. The study went on to find that 21% of vehicles studied lacked ideal pressure, 16% lacked ideal depth and, potentially the most troubling, 11% suffered from tyre damage. While these should come as obvious facts, let s delve into why exactly you cannot put off your tyre care. If you fail to maintain your tyres, you should expect to see a decline in your vehicle s stopping distance, ride and handling, fuel economy and several other core performance components. The Pentateuch s Book Of Genesis The book of Genesis (which means in the beginning in its original Hebrew language) weaves an intricate tapestry of Who YHWH is through the creation of the world and mankind, the Fall of mankind through Adam and Eve, and YHWH s plans to reconcile the broken relationship between His creation and Himself. A parallel is constructed in Genesis by [opening] with the beginning days (Genesis 1:1 2:4a) and [closing] with the last days (Genesis 49:1), creating the framework for the entire story of humankind. This parallelism is profound, not only in modern contexts, but because it was so unusual for an ancient Near Eastern text to have eschatology theories. While ancient Near Eastern deities might create the world, none of them had plans to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From there, Genesis is typically read and interpreted in three different ways: generically, theologically, and literarily. First, in a general reading of the book, Genesis may be split into two parts where chapters 1 11 tells the story of mankind in a universal scale that leads to a narrower view in the personal stories of the patriarchs in chapters 12 50. Then in reading the text theologically, readers should recognize the need for a covenant people (chapters 1 11) and the subsequent formation of the covenant (chapters 12 50). This was presented through the establishment of YHWH s covenant people (chapters 12 37) and their preservation in Egypt before entering the Promised Land (chapters 37 50). Finally, in a literary context, a ten fold Toledoth (translated as generations in Hebrew) is shown in two spans: Span 1 illustrates the five generations from Adam to Abraham (chapters 2:4 11:26), while Span 2 unveils the five generations from Abraham to Israel (chapters 11:27 50:26). These three interpretative measures are interesting to note because no matter what angle a reader may approach Genesis, it all leads to the coming Messiah. • 22. Lab Report On Hydrogen Peroxide Hydrogen Peroxide Rate of Reaction By Kevin Frappier 10/15/2017 BIOL133 Abstract The reason for conducting this lab is discover is changing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) concentration will affect the rate of reaction. During the experiment, the H2O2 rate will be changed and pressure will be measured using a gas pressure sensor. The data suggests that as the hydrogen peroxide concentration increases, the rate of diffusion increases and that my hypothesis is valid. Introduction Hydrogen peroxide is a by product of biochemical metabolism. The accumulation of hydrogen peroxide can be deadly, so it must be decomposed. One of the decomposing factors is an enzyme called Catalase. Catalase breaks hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Since this is a decomposition reaction, it is exothermic. Hydrogen peroxide can gradually degenerate itself, it decomposes much faster with the help of Catalase which lowers the activation energy to the minimum energy barrier that hydrogen peroxide molecules should overcome to decompose. According to Feng shui, all structures have to be laid out carefully along compass lines and in certain configurations to allow ki (Chinese chi ), the mystic energy of life to flow properly. A reduced ki flow in a home was thought to cause sickness and disharmony. For example, the builders, after consulting with a Yin yang diviner, would usually create special arrangements to prevent bad ki from entering the home from the northwest. In the first Japanese garden design manual, the Sakuteiki, it is explained how water courses should flow from the northwest to the southeast so that any bad ki could be cleansed by the protective deity of the east Kamogawa (blue dragon), then proceed west again passing under a veranda of the house so as to draw away any evil spirits that might have somehow slipped into the house. Heavy stones were thought to serve as gates or landing points for spirits and were thus placed very carefully. Other design rules applied as well. Influenced by esoteric Buddhism, the garden design was expected to include an island in a pond connected to the mainland by a bridge. The British considered this action as morally corrupt and chose to take military action against the Boers therefore declaring war on October 9, 1899. The war ended in 1902 with the Boers relinquishing their independency by allowing Britain to annex the Boer colonies.
