Sample Essays For Scholarships
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Sample Essays for Scholarships" can be quite challenging,
requiring a delicate balance between showcasing personal achievements and adhering to the
specific criteria set by scholarship committees. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a
compelling narrative of one's life, experiences, and aspirations but also in addressing the unique
requirements of each scholarship opportunity.
Firstly, the writer must conduct thorough research on the scholarship programs they are applying
for, understanding the values and goals of each organization. This demands a significant
investment of time and effort to tailor the essay to align with the specific expectations of the
selection committee. Juggling multiple scholarship applications adds another layer of complexity,
as each essay must be customized to highlight different aspects of the applicant's background
and achievements.
Moreover, the challenge lies in striking the right balance between humility and self-promotion.
The essay needs to showcase the applicant's strengths and accomplishments without coming
across as boastful or insincere. Crafting a narrative that is both authentic and persuasive requires
a keen understanding of one's own experiences and the ability to communicate them effectively.
Additionally, the word limit often poses a constraint, making it essential to convey a
comprehensive story within a confined space. This requires careful consideration of language,
ensuring that every word contributes meaningfully to the overall narrative. Balancing brevity
with substance can be a formidable task, as applicants strive to convey their uniqueness and
passion concisely.
Furthermore, the emotional aspect of the essay is crucial. Connecting with the reader on a
personal level can be challenging, especially when addressing a diverse audience with varying
backgrounds and perspectives. Striking a chord that resonates universally while staying true to
one's own voice is a delicate art.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Sample Essays for Scholarships" is a formidable task that
demands meticulous research, self-reflection, and effective storytelling. The challenge lies in
tailoring each essay to the specific requirements of different scholarship opportunities, striking a
balance between humility and self-promotion, and conveying a compelling narrative within the
constraints of word limits. The process is time-consuming and requires a high level of skill in
communication and persuasion.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate process, there are resources available.

Comparision of Genesis with Other Creation Mythologies
Essay
Comparison of Genesis with Other Creation Mythologies
We all know that our mothers and fathers gave us birth, and grandmothers and
grandfathers gave our parents birth. However, what about the beginning? What
does the beginning look like? Who created the sky, the earth, the mountains and
rivers, the plants, the animals, and the human beings? How was the world created?
What happened to the creator? These questions have puzzled and are asked by
every people. However, no one has yet found the answers, and I have heard people
saying that the creation of life is as impossible as the natural creation of an airplane
from a stack of waste. With the willingness of knowing the self, ancient people tried
to create mythological stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only difference is that in this Indian story, not even God(or an equivalent form)
was there. Egyptians and Chinese imagined the same scene, the Nun and the chaotic
egg with a giant (Egyptian, Lin 1). In contrast with the creation out of nothing, the
indigenous Australian mythology tells us that the stars, the sky, the sun, the moon,
and the ancestors of all lives were already present in the beginning, but they are
sleeping under the crust of the earth in the water holes (Aborigine). Seneca people
believed that humans were living in the heaven originally, and there were only ocean
and ocean living lives on the earth (Creation). It is very interesting to recognize how
important water is to lives. Every account of creation that I have read included water
before anything else was present.
Whatever was present in the beginning had managed to create all the rest, and the
description of creators are of three categories, a single creator, multi creators, and no
creator. In Genesis, God is the single creator, and so is Brahman of India. The
difference is that the God is immortal, but Brahman is mortal (Genesis, Genesis
Project). In Chinese mythology, Pan Gu was the creator of everything but men, who
were created by Nu Wa, a goddess (Lin 1 5). Other examples of multi creators are in
the mythology of Egypt and Seneca in which the children of the creator became

Akeelah works hard to achieve her personal legend and her whole world conspires
to help make that happen. Akeelah Anderson, is a eleven year old African
American student from the Crenshaw neighborhood of South Los Angeles,
struggles to overcome the limitations of her environment. In the early stages of the
movie Akeelah has a passion for spelling. Spelling is a secret talent Akeelah holds
and excels at, but does not wish to share, as she would be perceived as a brainiac .
Akeelah s enjoyment of spelling is showcased, when she adds a new word she
learns or hears to her diary. This habit was a good omen because it created more
pathways for her which would eventually lead her to what she truly enjoys and not be

The girl holding spelling bee trophy, sparked her interest. This is the starting point
that brings Akeelah closer to her personal legend, because her aptitude for words
spurs school admins and will eventually influence Akeelah to join the spelling bee.
Akeelah s mentors have a positive impact on her and the choices she makes.
Akeelah s English teacher, Mrs. Cross, acknowledges Akeelah s ability, and
informs Akeelah that she would be one of her best students if she attended class
and completed homework assignments. By doing this, she reassures Akeelah that
she is capable of succeeding if she applies herself. Supposing that Akeelah may
have an interest in spelling based on her keen ability, Mrs. Cross encourages
Akeelah to enter the school spelling bee. She refuses to participate in the school
spelling bee until the principal suggests that she should because she is the only hope
that can bring the school some attention. When Akeelah gets a taste of victory by
winning the school bee, she is smothered by spellings that Dr. Larabee throws at her
to spell as she spells each word without a
Reflection On Korean Dorama
When I was my 15 years, I watched my first Korean dorama. Then I did not know
how it would exert an impact on my fate and view of life. This was the world

the country of morning freshness. I strongly believe that my life transformed for
better and blossomed after watching this Korean dorama was watched by everyone,
from the youngest to the oldest. It drew me in this world the world of Korean
drama, Korean pop and Korean cinema. Knowledge about Korea was increasing
more and more gradually and new sides of Korea were opened. I found out the

IMPACT OF EIGENVALUES ON THE ELECTRON PHONON COUPLING
STRENGTH OF INDIUM AND ITS BINARY ALLOYS
S. K. Chakrabarti
Department of Physics
Tribhuvan University, MMAM Campus, Biratnagar, Nepal ABSTRACT
Indium is a trivalent metal. Though chemically not so reactive, it often forms
complexes within its binary alloys. In this theoretical work we have studied the
impact of eigenvalues on the electron phonon coupling strength of indium. We have
also dealt with the same for two binary alloys of it viz. indium magnesium and
indium zinc. First of all we have computed the non local screened form factor for
each of them. For this purpose initially the orthogonalised plane wave parameter is
considered as unity. Thereafter Vashishta Singwi form of exchange and correlation
are employed. For indium the Clementi eigenvalues being not available, the
experimental energy values have been taken besides the Herman Skillman core
energy eigenvalues. Our results are quite satisfactory for the metal. For the alloys
our results lie within the range of values as obtained by other researchers. Our
computation reveals that the superconducting state parameter can be reasonably
reproduced by Harrison s first principle pseudopotential technique along with
McMillan s formalism provided a proper choice of the core energy eigenvalues is
made.
Key words: Superconducting state parameter, Orthogonalised plane wave parameter,

Jess possesses the physical attributes of a woman, yet inside she is conflicted. Just
as Judith butler distinguishes sex and gender, jess finds herself at that fine line.
The topic of identity is a long journey for jess, and as written in the book, she
suffers greatly. Because of the predetermined roles society has set, many women
and men as well can have trouble fitting their assigned roles. In the same sense that
jess struggles to find a name for what she is, she has to say what she is not. In the
same sense of figuring out what feminism is. Jess is constantly being asked what
she is, when she herself does not know if there is even a name for it. Jess is a
prime example of the obscure line that resides between identity and physical

not to be diminished. Jess is a complex character, she feels attracted to women, yet
she is not just a lesbian. Her struggles arise from the fact that even though she is
attracted to women, she feels as if she ought to have the body of a man. And as Jess

An Multidisciplinary Art Form Of Experimental Music...
In its current incarnation, the multidisciplinary art form of Experimental Music
Theatre is relatively new in the art world. It encompasses a wide range of musical and
theatrical forms and styles and is often presented in unconventional venues. Similar to
Wagner s notion of Gesamtkunstwerk, Experimental MusicTheatreseeks to integrate
all the arts to create one complete art form. For Wagner, this ideal materialized in his
Operas, which he labelled music dramas. However, in contrast to Wagner s dramas,
where music, voice, poesy, painting, lighting, costume design, choreography, and
more came together to form a grand spectacle, an Experimental Music Theatre work
normally eschews or subverts scenic illusions, dramatic representation, role playing,
and fictional time. There are no plots or roles to play; the musicians and actors are
themselves, there and then, creating the artwork in the moment thus blurring the
lines between Life and artistic expression; a concept not new in the art world.
Nontraditional music theatre has rarely attracted the volume of attention that Opera
or Broadway musicals have achieved. Perhaps because it has no traditional form, no
set parameters to construct or convey an artistic idea. It embraces and makes use of
all forms and styles of music, theatre, and media. This broad spectrum of available
techniques, methods, styles, forms, technologies, etc., has created endless
possibilities by which to create and perform art.

The Mende Man Pieces Together The Story Of Jesus Christ
Faith plays an important role in the Mende s road to freedom. When the word faith
comes to mind, it is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires
perseverance in that belief. The Mende people certainly showed faith in more ways
than one, but an example that is true to the definition mentioned before is one where
Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After examining the
pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing
very little English. He shows the story to Cinque, and both men see how Jesus had
unrightfully died, yet in death he had arrived in a place more beautiful than the world
on which he lived. As a response, Cinque and his friend mustered up the faith to
propel them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With faith and hope, they entrusted all communications to Cinque and had faith that
he would speak for the best of all the Mende. This faith in Cinque as well as a faith
in a better life after the trials brought unity amongst the Mende people. From then on,
they become more than just a tribe. Through faith, they had grown close enough to
consider one another family.
Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening
scene, the Mende people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one
family. This was shown when Cinque bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings
in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there. With bloody hands and
fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around him. In
doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful
insurrection against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family
members back in Africa. However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they
bring their home in Africa to America. They bring the traditions that run in the
Mende family and stay faithful in performing those traditions. For example, when
one Mende died in the prison, they attempted to hold a customary ritual to show due
respect and allow eternal peace for the soul of their recently passed family member.
Although the whites opposed them from doing so, the Mende people were fervent
about their African duties and respects towards

structural functionlism theory
QUESTION
BY USING THE STRUCTURAL FUNCTIONALIST THEORY, DISCUSS
PROBLEMS FACING OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTIES IN ZAMBIA
In any political system are structures that have different functions to ensure an
effective and smooth running of things in that particular political system. This is why
this essay will discuss the problems faced by opposition political parties in Zambia
using the structural functionalist theory. First it will explain what structural
functionalism is, then it will define structures, functions, a political party and an
opposition party then before giving the conclusion it will discuss the problems faced
by opposition parties in Zambia.

The Media is also another structure involved with the dissemination of information
to the society. According to Almond and Powell (1966) a political party needs to
communicate with the electorate. Every time opposition parties receive coverage in
an article, have their face on television or their voice on radio, they assume that they
increase their chances among potential voters. In Zambia however instead of the
media being one of the means of popularity exposure for opposition parties, it tends
not to give them enough time because of the media being influenced by government.
Zambian Economist (accessed on 17.12.13) states if the press was free we would
for example expect high degree of information compared to a government controlled
media . Hence this becomes a problem for the opposition.
The Judiciary has a function of enforcing the law and making sure the rule of law is
observed. The Zambia Reports (accessed on 9.12.13) states UPND chairperson for
Tourism and Culture Ephraim Belemus said Acting Chief Justice Chibesakunda was
compromised and her continued stay at the helm of the Judiciary had proved costly to
the justice system of the country . From this quotation we can tell that in Zambia the
opposition political parties have been shut from making meaningful contribution to
the nation. This absence of effective participation in the political process is a very
serious limitation that Zambian opposition parties face.

Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Development Theory
Erikson was a theorist who focused on his theory for psychosocial development. The
article Psychosocial Identity Development Theories, highlights the keys points and
idea of Erikson s psychosocial theory. Erikson was very focused on the idea of ego
identity and obtaining full potential. His theory or model stats that, identity formation
is based on overcoming conflicts that individuals encounter during adolescent and
early childhood. (Karkouti, 2014, p.257) He believed that all people must endure
certain conflicts in their lives, and then overcome them in order to obtain their ego
identity. The idea of psychosocial development is focused on social conflicts, and
environmental factors. In the psychosocial model that Erikson created, it places
people into eight stages. In order for someone to move on to the next stage, they must
first overcome the conflict presented to them in the stage that they are in. A well
established identity will get stronger the more that conflict is successfully resolved.
The eight stages are basic trust versus mistrust, autonomy versus shame and doubt,
initiative verses guilt, industry versus inferiority, identity versus identity diffusion,
intimacy versus isolation, generativity versus stagnation, and ego integrity versus
despair. In this article, it not only focuses on the main idea for psychosocial
development, but it continues by then saying that the theory has two criticisms,
stages are descriptive and they are difficult to be empirically

6.What strategies can an individual, team or organization employ to counter the
effects of toxic leadership?
Conceptual Framework
Toxic leadership includes managerial incompetence, threatening, controlling and
unlawful behaviors, and physical and non physical abuse that are intentionally hostile
or detrimental to both individuals and groups (Ashforth, 1994; Kellerman, 2004;
Reed, 2004; Lipman Blumen, 2005a). Whereas, intentionality play a central role in
how the leader can be classified as intentionally toxic or unintentionally toxic leader.
Leaders who are considered intentionally toxic deliberately harm others to strengthen
themselves at the expense of others (Lipman Blumen, 2005a). While unintentionally
toxic leaders act recklessly, including being incompetent, which can have significant
negative effects on followers.
The study of Pelletier (2010) reveals eight dimensions of leader toxicity that
involves leaders breaking down the self esteem of followers, threatening
employees, lack of integrity, intimidating employees physically and mentally, and
being dishonest. In addition, leaders are considered toxic when they promote a
culture of division and fail to listen or act on employee concerns. It is important to
distinguish between bad leaders and toxic leaders where the influence of the leaders
on followers will determine this fact. As toxic leaders, will have a long term
psychological and physical effects on their followers (Pelletier, 2010).

2.2.1Threat of New Entrants
New companies entering the marketplace present a significant competitive pressure
mainly because they can threaten the market share of existing companies. Unless the
demand of a good or service is increasing, additional production capacity would only
result in lesser revenue for competing firms. The luxury hotel industry on a global
basis shares the characteristics of high capital requirements and a high proportion of
fixed costs to total cost. In addition to physical facilities, a substantial amount of
financial resources is required for construction, furnishing, pre operational expenses
and marketing activities.
It is of good marketing advantage that The Ritz Carlton belong to a chain of hotels
to benefit from brand image or loyalty. The stronger the attachment of buyers to
established brands, the harder it is for a newcomer to break into the marketplace.
(John E. Gamble, 2011) Furthermore, the limited availability of geographical land
and hence, suitable locations for a hotel project in Singapore poses a challenge to
new entrants. In conclusion, The Ritz Carlton faces a rather low threat of new
Type 4 Pili Research Paper
Bacterial pili have been well studied for their structure, function, and genetics.
However, little is known about the structure and function of archaeal pili. Current
research has begun to focus on the archaeal pilus and its relatedness to bacterial pili,
particularly the bacterial type IV pilus. Using genetic and microscopy techniques,
these studies have shown comparative evidence for the differences, as well as
homology, between archaeal and bacterial type IV pili. These results suggest there
may be an evolutionary divergence from a common ancestral function and origin.

is known that a encoded mmp1685 a major pilin gene, epdA, epdB, epdC are minor

Interestingly, M. maripaludis, also utilizes EppA, which is a specific prepilin

organization of the archaeal type IV operon for pili biosynthesis could potentially
indicate various functions in for the pilin proteins and others involved (3). This
presents difficulties if the functions, as they are in M. maripaludis, are unknown and
tough to predict due to their variance and difference in quantity of genes compared
to other known operons. As each of the archaea pilin subunits are known to change
and can be slightly different from species species, the regulations are also changing
and the pilins will code for an array of functions (3,
Jean-Baptiste Oudry

focused mainly on painting animals. He was born in Paris, France on March 17,
1686 and died on April 30, 1755 in Beauvais, France. He was a French Rococo
painter and specialized in painting animals. Oudry first studied portrait paintingwith
Nicolas de LargilliГЁre. And later met Jean Baptiste MassГ©. Through MassГ©, he
made many connections and one that made his reputation, Louis XV. Oudry created
Louis XV hunting a deer in the Forest of Saint Germain for the king and was later
asked to produce more paintings for the king. Oudry started out painting only
portraits but later moved to paintings of fruits, animals, as well as religious subjects.

Mental Health Discourse
The body and behaviours are defined as normal and abnormal through othering , a
conceived structure of knowledge . This piece of work will explore how those
deemed mad were understood and managed.
This assignment will delve into mental health discourse and narratives in a theoretical
historic context allowing for analysis and conclusions to be drawn. Discourse
perceived those displaying unacceptable behaviour termed madness as a threat to the
stable fabric of society by diminishing cohesiveness and causing inner fragmentation

commonly referred to as asylums (Burger 2014 :140).

The knowledge applied to madness was accepted by the masses as truth not as a
conceived reality.
Jacobs and Griffiths (2007) St Mary of Bethlem was one of the first small capacity
private institutions housing the insane which charged for its services, it remained
the only hospital for mental illness in England into the 1600s. (Clark 1965) In 1518

(Barker 2008)The Poor Law 1601 differentiated between learning disabilities and
mental illness and required individual parishes to set up housing provision for
paupers within their community. Those in authority decided insanity, decisions were

Four Fundamental Concepts of Knowing in Nursing Essay
There are different types of knowledge and different ways of knowing. Four
fundamental concepts of knowing in nursing highlighted by Caper (1978) are
empirical, personal, ethical and aesthetic. He divided knowledge into two forms
which are tacit and explicit. Tacit is insights and based on experience and not easily
visible and expressible, difficult to share and communicate with others which is
highly personal. Empirical sources of knowledgedepend upon an individual s manner
of observing and responding to events in the outside world (Higgs et al, 2004).
Whereas explicit is formal and based on rationality and easily can be expressed,
shared, communicate which are highly universal principles. Rationalism comes from

I have better understanding of change process and motivated with self confident to
bring changes. My personal or tacit knowledge has leaded me to identify the needs
for improving in this practice as I have sad experience with diabetes patients in my
daily practice. Perhaps the tacit knowledge that lies embedded within and beneath my
actions, activities and know how, have enable me to explore, refining and theorising
about my practice.
Although, I realise that empirical knowledge is vital, in reality a combination of
knowledge is used to influence my practice and I believe that without all forms of
knowledge being utilised my nursing practice would not be as effective as it could
be. One thing I have learn, knowledge that generated through research, theorists or
others does not always meets the needs of the particular practice in the field and fit
the perceived needs of practitioner. Therefore as a health practitioner, I need to
deconstruct and reconstruct formal theory in terms that make it more practicable and
applicable.
As to date, the proposed practice has not yet been implemented but for the purposed
of the dissertation, I will explore the evaluation strategy which will be eventually
used to assess the effectiveness of the new service. The evaluation need to produce
evidence that shows the changes has positively influenced the care of diabetes
patients. The implementation of the proposed change would be
The Death Of Terminally Ill
As Americans, we are granted rights in this country and these rights, according to
the Declaration of Independence, grant us Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness . So tell me why someone that is terminally ill cannot use these rights to
end their life of pain and suffering. Some states have rallied and given those who
are terminally ill the right to die. However, some simply see this means of ending a
life, inhumane, unethical, immoral, and just plain wrong. As a citizen of the United
States where we simply have our rights, should we not be granted the right to die? A
big controversy on the news in the United States is having the right to die. People see
this as something wrong due to various cultural and religious beliefs. This means of
having the right to die is simply termed assisted suicide or human euthanasia. Only a
few states have legalized assisted suicide by means of the Deathwith Dignity Act.
The four states that assisted suicide is legal in is: California, Oregon, Vermont, and
Washington. However, in order to take act in assisted suicide there are terms and
conditions by each state that must be met. A little history into the practice of
euthanasia, which started with the ancient Greeks, and is now something legal into
few states today. According to Hosseini (2012), euthanasia is actually a Greek word
that literally means happy death (p.203). Who doesn t want to die a happy death, free

Being Born And Raised By The Monumental Architecture...
As I arrived to TALA, I was instantly impressed by the monumental architecture
before me. The symmetry of the building was elegant and well complimented by
its weathered look. It is difficult to imagined that this very building had once
housed the mentally ill. I have never seen such a facility before and thus expected
something less remarkable. As I stood admiring the building, I noticed the
multitude of windows it contained. Upon further examination, I saw bars
surrounding them and suddenly realized that the illusion of paradise was in reality
a prison for those who dwelled here. I was surprised to learn how many people
were actually housed in this building. I was equally shocked to discovered what
passed as mentally insane during the 19th century. The criteria used to determine
mental problems were nonexistent and arbitrary. I was extremely concerned when
the tour guide mentioned kids being born and raised in TALA. It was also
distressing to learn that people who didn t quality as having mental problems were
also placed into such a facility. I was further surprised to learn that the community
had openly embraced TALA as part of their home to the extent that a high school
prom was held inside the building. This helped me to recognize that TALA was
more than just an insane asylum, it was truly home to those living inside and outside
of the building. As I progressed through the tour, I discovered that I was unaware of
the many practices of insane asylums, especially the

Family Values In Fences
Fences August Wilson s Fences is a play about Troy Maxson, and how his values
influence his family s. The play takes place in 1950 s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Troy
Maxson is a black, middle aged man working for a garbage company. Each member
of the Maxson family has a special relationship with Troy, that affects their behavior
throughout the play. In life you learn the most from your parents. They teach you
how to walk, speak, and respect one another. Your parents also give you a set of
values for life. As you grow up as your own individual, your values will change
from your parents. There will be things that are much more important to you, and
not as important to them. In the play Fences Troy Maxson has a very strong set of
values that he believes are true in how you should live life. Troy imposes these
values on everyone in his family to the best of his ability. Each character in Fences
is at a different stage in their life, so Troy can t push his values onto characters that

Abstract
Thousands of people around the world suffer from injuries everyday which
requires removal or reinforcements of the damaged tissues through surgical
procedures. Tissue engineering, especially scaffolds have a major role to play in
such situations. Scaffolds, a porous cross linked structure aims at the regeneration
of the damaged tissue by supporting the cells mechanically while not altering the
normal functioning of the cell and the individual as whole. Scaffolds are generally
made of synthetic biocompatible polymers. But such scaffolds are generally
expensive and may take longer time to decompose inside our body. So we looked
for autologous biomaterials which have the desirable properties and can be used in
place of the polymers. The autologous biomaterials will also be cheaper and
decompose faster compared to the polymers. In this report, I have mentioned three
such autologous biomaterials; albumin, collagen and B.mori silk fibroins, which are
easily available and possesses the desired properties to manufacture scaffolds from
them. I manufactured scaffolds by the process of electrospinning and tested the
porosity and swelling of the scaffolds.
Introduction
Tissue engineering is a field where scientists try to repair or regenerate damaged
tissues or cells with the help of artificial materials. In layman s term, tissue
engineering can be defined as an interdisciplinary field
In The Current World It Is Easy To Get Caught Up With
Our
In the current world it is easy to get caught up with our own lives rather than
participating in the community that surrounds us. With the internet and social media,
it is usually normal for people to just stay indoors and in their rooms, not caring for
what goes on down the street or at the local barber. To achieve the highest quality of
life one must care and be supportive of their community, and their family. In his
paper, Scott argues that Americans should become less individualistic and instead
become more concerned with the wellbeing of their community. The Common Life of
Scott Russel sanders is an excellent example of how participating with family and

This anecdote helps show the excellence and quality of having close family ties and
strengthens his argument that community is important. To establish this idea and to
state the importance of having good interpersonal relationships, from family
relationships to common relationships, Sanders draws on examples of clubs and
organizations, such as the boys and girls clubs, in order to integrate the idea of the
common life or community. Saunders believes that the cost of the American
obsession comes from the belief that we shall cultivate the self rather than the
community, and that we should look to the individual as a source of hope and the
center of value. This is an extremely American beliefs because our government,
economy, religion and present century all encourage this idea, as stated by Sanders
when he states: we have the bill of rights, which protects each of us each of us from
the bullying society, but not build responsibilities which will obligate us to answer
the needs of others .
Sanders of course believes that all of these are good things that build and strengthen
our nation as a whole. It is clear that Sanders thinks that America has gone a little too
far in the direction of individualism. Saunders believes that as good things can from
community and if weren t American weren t to be so individualistic we would have a
better and more structured environment revolving us . To show this, Sanders uses an
Effects Of Anatomical Parts Of Ephedra Sinica
Ephedra (Ma Huang) is a genus of plant, most commonly derived from the dried
herbaceous stems of the Chinese species, Ephedra sinica (Figure 1a and 1b). The
natural plant source produces six Ephedra alkaloids, chemicals which are considered
to be the active constituents of the plant; ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, norephedrine,
norpseudoephedrine, methylephedrine and methylpsuedoephedrine (Figure 2) (Veitch
et al., 2013). The presence and concentrations of these alkaloids depends primarily on
the plant species, origin, growing conditions, and the raw plant material processing,
with most species largely containing ephedrineand pseudoephedrine (Haller et al.,
2004). Metabolomic studies have shown that anatomical parts of Ephedrasinica have
different therapeutic pharmacological effects and for this reason, have been used
for different purposes in medicine. This was demonstrated by Lv et al (2015), who
used GC MS to compare the concentrations of Ephedra sinica in the stems (Ma
Huang) and in the roots (Mahuanggen) of different plant samples. It was concluded
that the pharmacologically important ephedrine alkaloids were present in higher
quantities in the stems. This is why Ephedra herb, sold as dry stems of Ephedra
sinica, has been used as a commercial source of ephedrine alkaloids worldwide, in
particular Europe and America (Lee 2011).
Ephedrine is a ОІ phenylethylamine widely used as a sympathomimetic in herbal

The Secret To Raising Smart Children Summary
In the article The Secret to Raising Smart Children , by Carol Dweck there are strong
statements about growth and fixed mindsets. Growth mind set is important for
children with impressionable minds, with the right amount of focus, effort, and praise
they can shape their minds for success. Without this they can become lazy and
discouraged making them not want to try at all, a fixed mindsetwill not let them
continue in a progressive manner. Dweck goes on to discuss that talent is
worshipped in our society so children often feel that if they do not do exceptionally
well they are unintelligent and should not try. Other times students do well in graded
school where not much work is required, so when middle school or high school hits
they lack the motivation to try harder. Such children hold an implicit belief that
intelligence is innate and fixed, making striving to learn seem far less important than
being (or looking) smart...the need to exert effort as threats to their ego rather than as
opportunities to improve, (Dweck, 81). This is a powerful quote that I will further
discuss. Growth mind set is the idea that you can... Show more content on

The Confederate Flag
Within the United States of America, arguments, involving the Confederate Flag, are

the 1800 s until present day without any solution. The text and symbolic meaning
behind the Confederate Flag is a perfect example. The Confederate Flag is one of
America s most embattled symbolic controversies. Created in 1861in a battle between
the South, Confederates, and the North, Union, two men by the name P.G.T.

Essay about Cryptozoology
Cryptozoology
Cryptozoology is, literally, the study of hidden animals. It is the study of such
creatures as the Australian bunya, Bigfoot, the Chupacabra, and the Loch Ness
monster. It is not a recognized branch of the science of zoology.
Cryptozoology relies heavily upon testimonials and circumstantial evidence in the
form of legends and folklore, and the stories and alleged sightings of mysterious
beasts by indigenous peoples, explorers, and travelers. Since cryptozoologists spend
most of their energy trying to establish the existence of creatures, rather than
examining actual animals, they are more akin to psi researchers than to zoologists.

Describing Lenin Essay examples
Describing Lenin A cruel tyrant, bloodthirsty and ruthless in his determination to
seize and hold on to power He devoted his whole life to the interests of working
people and to the building of a better society. Which of these two descriptions of
Lenin do you think is closes to the truth. After several uprisings, demonstrations and a
coup attempt, finally by mid October 1917 the Bolshevik movement gained pace and
the Bolshevik revolution began between 25 27 October,as a result; the Provisinal
government ministers were arrested and the 2nd Congress of the Soviets was
announced. Lenin, appointed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would on the other hand, be untrue to suggest that Lenin did not wished to take
power. He certainly did, but only till a worker s state was created, where
individuals would contribute to the best of their ability and the profits would be
distrubuted according to need. Lenin s life time has not allowed this to happen
and with Stalin in power this was not possible. So, although it needs imagination to
say that Lenin was bloodthirsty and ruthless it is clear and not deniable that
wanted power and therefore he had the control of most things . This is to say he
was the top man , next came the seven members of the Polikburo than the Central
Committies with 40 people, than the Party Congress, followed by the party with
8000 members, the Soviets which would lead itself to the working class which
finally ended with the whole of society. Looking at this system, it may be
suggested that Lenin basically controlled the society, all by himself, however if
looked at in long term this wasn t true, as Lenin s aim was to create a classless and
a society where no leader would be necessary. Nevertheless, it can not be declined
that during Lenin s time a lot of terror and cruelty took place, although not directly
under his command. This terror was probably the result or maybe
Authentic And Cultural Background Of The Apache
Authentic and Cultural Background of the Apache
The Athapaskan talking individuals of the Southwest, whom the Spanish and the
Pueblos would
call Apaches, initially originated from areas well north of the Canadian fringe.
They entered the fields at some point going before the Columbian voyage, most likely
pursuing the
developing crowds of wild ox that rose after 1200, and they assembled another
economy and social
structure tweaked to the necessities of the occasionally troublesome environment.
From there on Apache populaces developed, and by 1700 they ruled the western
segments of
the southern fields and the mountains of New Mexico. Apaches, more than whatever
other gathering,
tested the Pueblo Indian populaces and also the infringing Spaniards for control of
the political economy of the Southwest.
The Apaches made a place for themselves in the Southwest at an extremely
troublesome time in
history, when other tribal social orders endured decrease and demolition.
The Apaches survived and flourished outside the Spanish frontier framework
fundamentally in light of the fact that
they adjusted to the changing biological systems of the Southwest; they modified
their economy by
making new techniques for generation and extending or contracting sociopolitical
structures to meet financial requests.
Every now and again such changes incorporated the appropriation of specific parts of
European culture, for
illustration, altered types of pastoralism. Apaches
Examples Of A Forced Oscillator
The steam engine is a perfect example of a forced oscillator as the piston oscillates
back and forth. The steam engine is a forced oscillator as it is a heavily dampened
system that has a force to counter the resistance and keep the piston moving at a
constant oscillation until the force is removed from the system.
Due to the steam engine being quite heavily damped this oscillator will just simply
stop without a force to compensate for the resistance within this system. But this
force also has to be applied at the perfect time as it will have no or little affect if it
is applied at the wrong time so timing has to be taken into account and the size of the
force also has to be just enough to overcome the resistance to either accelerate the
piston or to keep it a constant velocity. The force though has to be equal to
resistance to keep the piston moving at a constant velocity and to increase the
velocity of the piston the force will have to be greater than the resistance in the
system, but to decrease the velocity of the piston the force will have to be less than
the resistance in the system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So if there is no resistance this system could act like simple harmonic motion, but
there is resistance in the system which means without the force it is a damped system
and because of this force it has to be classified as a forced oscillator. So all of these
forces act have to act in perfect harmony to keep the oscillating motion going or else
this oscillator will no act like a forced oscillator and will act like a damped oscillator
or a simple harmonic

California Politics and Government California is the wealthiest and most diverse
state in the country. Just like the National government, California is comprised of
three branches; Legislative, Executive and Judicial. The legislative branch is the
largest, and is made up of the state Senate and Assembly. The Assembly consists of
eighty representatives, one from each county, to serve for up to three two year terms.
The California Senate holds forty Senators, who are allowed a maximum of two four
year terms. The Executive branch consists of the state Governor and a group of
elected constitutional officers. The final branch, the Judicial branch, is made up of
California s supreme court, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see that the passage of these initiatives affected the ability of the legislature to
create important policies. Proposition 140 is a reform initiative that drastically
changed the fundamentals of the legislative system. This proposition halted the
cycle of institutional knowledge for legislators who become experts in certain
policies. They are barred from running for office once the term limit is fulfilled. In
the bigger picture, legislative committee leaders are sometimes new legislators who
do not have expertise in the policy. This is problematic because lack of expertise
hinders the creation of innovative and effective policy. Proposition 140 created a
better over turn thus, giving minorities and women the chance to represent their
constituents; the point of the term limit was to repopulate the legislature. By creating
this constant repopulation, it allows expertise to be achieved by legislators but it
bars them to contribute into policy making once their term limit is achieved.
Proposition 118 on the other hand intends to change the composition of the
legislature but makes it harder for redistricting to occur. By passing Proposition 118,
the legislature will not be able to represent the people of California accurately; thus,
creating policy problems since enacted policies will not
What People Can Really Do
What People Can Really Do
For someone to say that they do not believe in the idea of global climate change is
like saying that they do not believe in science. About 200 nations, including the
United States, have all come to the conclusion that climate change is indeed a real
and that we, human beings, have become responsible for finding a solution to this
precarious situation that we have put ourselves in. However, there is still a small
population of people that believe that there is nothing we can do to forestall the
destructive effects of global climate change. To retract the naysayers current idea, in
his climate change address, Barack Obama talks about his plans to reduce America s

Each gallon of gasoline you burn creates 20 pounds of GHG. That s about 7 to 10
tons of GHG produced a year for a regular vehicle ( Reduce Climate Change 1).
Getting better gas mileage is a good thing because it means that people can get
better miles per gallon without releasing as many carbon emissions. According to
Barack Obama s administration, they have approved regulations that will force
automakers to nearly double the average gas mileage of all new cars and trucks
they sell in America by 2025 (Krisher 1). This will make it so all automakers will
produce vehicles that will be less detrimental to the environment and will help fend
off the hazardous effects certain to come with climate change. Fuel efficient cars
are considered advantageous because of their smaller gasoline engine , which
release fewer pollution emissions ( Fuel Efficient Cars... 1). A car that is
considered fuel efficient does not consume a lot of gas and gives the best possible
mileage. The less fuel consumed by the car, the less smoke that will come out of the
exhaust. As a result, the damage done to the global atmosphere is less ruinous.
Gases, like carbon dioxide are harmful to us as well as our environment. They aid in
depleting our ozone layer, causing detrimental global climatic changes. Fuel efficient
cars will help in reducing pollution by at least 50%

Wieland Memoirs Of Carwin The Briloquist Summary
There are many questions that come about when ready the book Wieland and
Memoirs of Carwin the Biloquist by Charles Brockden Brown. Questions of the
supernatural, or questions of whether there is a presence of God. An example of
where these questions might show up is when Pleyel and Wieland go to the
temple. One night the two men go for a walk to the temple while Clara, Louisa,
and Catharine remained at Clara s house. When it became very late the women
began to worry and discuss reasons why the men had not yet returned. Finally the
two returned, but appeared shocked when they saw Catharine and would not speak
of anything that occurred. Pleyel says, It was my sister s voice; but it could not be
uttered by her; and yet, if not by her, by whom... Show more content on

He then burst out with the news that his beloved was dead. Clara inquired how he
knew this, and he began his explanation by first confiding in Clara the plan he had
to convince Wieland to take up his claim in Saxony. He told of how the two sat and
discussed this, Pleyel claiming that Catharine would assent to the plan if Wieland
accepted it. Suddenly a voice Catharine s voice said No . The men were astonished
and both agreed that it could not be a fiction of the fancy. As they headed back
toward the house, Pleyel mused aloud about returning to Europe alone, but the
same voice told him that the woman he loved was dead. At Pleyel s pause, Clara
narrated how she felt upon hearing this information. She explained that she had
never been privy to beliefs in apparitions and enchantments and saw them only as
the result of ignorance. There seemed to be proof of some intelligence of a
supernatural origin. She believed that the world had some conscious beings besides
humans but did not think they intervened. The voice that was heard could be taken
as the supernatural (Pleyel s dead lover), or as a higher being such as
Nantahala Lake
Nantahala Lake is located 3000 feet above sea level in the Nantahala National
Forest. Its features include crystal clear water, waterfalls, hiking trails, fishing,
lodging, and many more amenities. The lake is regulated and maintained by Duke
Power and it is a major source of hydroelectricity for the surrounding counties. It
was created in 1942 by Nantahala Power to provide electricity for war efforts. The
lake holds 42 miles of shoreline, which makes the waters close to the shore murky,
but as soon as you get out into the middle, it gets very clear! Nantahala Lake
releases into the Nantahala River, creating one of the nation s most known
whitewater rivers. When the river is considered on the rafters and kayakers come to
play. The water usually gets released from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless copious amounts
of rain or special events are running. This brings many tourists to the area, and what

The Issue That Faces Women Is Abortion
Description of the Problem
An important issue that faces women is abortion. With abortion laws constantly
changing, women are finding that they are a continuous target of sexism. Social
work is relative to this subject because often times social workers have to assist
clients who are seeking or who have had an abortion. It is very important that a social
worker is knowledgeable about abortion rights and laws. This is critical as it may
become a part of your case. Women s health is equally as important as everyone s
else s rights. Instead of focusing on what is much more important, lawmakers have
spent a great deal of time focusing on ruling the reproductive rights of women.
Abortion rights for women are a constant challenge. Abortion became legal in the
1973 case of Roe v. Wade by the supreme court. A woman then had the right to make
choices about her own body. This was all in connection with the right to privacy
rights and the pro choice side. The problem is you have individuals that agree with
pro life and pro choice. With that being said, the pro life activist believe that the
pregnancy should not be terminated and the woman should give birth. Pro choice is
when one believes that it s a woman s decision whether she wants to have a baby or
not.
This ties into sexism because by taking control over women s health rights, you re
limiting a women s capabilities as a woman. With sexist thoughts, a woman s rights
can easily be violated with stereotypical thoughts and

The Candlestick chart has formed a Bullish pattern which suggests that buyers are
entering into the stock. The stock should continue higher for the short term. By
looking at Intuit s charts we can observe that Intuit has had steady gains despite a
period of loss between mid July and mid August. We can also see that it has a
Support at 43.44 and Resistance at 47.42. If it breaks this resistance the stock
should continue higher to 50.13. The close proximity of resistance at 47.42 will be
focused on as a possible refraction from this level may occur.
On October 1, 2002 the chairman of the executive committee sold 200,000 shares of
stock in the company. Although this may make some investors uneasy, Inuit came

its expectations. On September 25, Intuit announced that the connectivity of Quicken

Sci Fi film which was released in 2004. It was directed by Frank Oz, who is
famously known for his acting roles. Frank Oz has done the voice of Yoda in the
Star Wars series, and several Muppets characters, such as Miss Piggy. There are
three editions to this story, the book, the 1975, and 2004 film. The 2004 version
varies from the others, as it has a slightly different story line. In the 2004 version, the
women tend to hold higher up and specialty jobs, where in the other two, the
characters were stay at home mothers with a hobby in photography (Thompson,
2009).
The Film follows the character of Joanna, who was a very successful woman, a TV

talked about the rights men had and what the rights women didn t have. Now you
would think that everyone is paid equally, well that s not true. The U.S. Women s
Soccer team has been fighting for equal pay to their male counter parts since the
beginning of the year 2016. They have made videos and had many of interviews
about their fight. The way to fix this problem is to continue to fight to have equal
pay to their male counterparts. The U.S. Women s soccer team represents the U.S

most successful in international women s soccer teams by winning three World

Cocky versus Swagger in Beowulf and Sir Gowain Essay
Cocky vs. Swagger
In entertainment, no matter if it is movies, music, or plays. One can almost always
look in the story line and find a hero. The hero is perceived to be the character that
everyone looks to step forward in a time of need. The hero can be like a savior and is
expected to be like a savior by the other characters in the story in any and every
situation. There is also a case in stories where the hero has to be found and is more of
the unsung type of character within a story in which that character has to learn how
to adjust to the advantages and disadvantages of their heroism and how it may affect
the other characters in the story. Beowulf and Sir Gowain posses these types of
characteristics and by actually reading the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heroes are heroes because they show exceptional amounts of courage, and they do
it consistently on the everyday basis. That is not possible to do. The extraordinary
things that Beowulf and Sir Gowain do are things that the average man would not
do because of the lack of courage and confidence. That is why heroes are who they
are, the best of the best. They stick out from the crowd and that is why one may
feel like they deserve more than just the regular confidence that the average man
gets, it is only necessary. Being a hero is more of a mental challenge than anything
else, because one has to believe in oneself more than any other person can believe
in them because whoever believes in the hero can not possibly know and
understand just exactly what the hero is going through. The other characters will
never know and understand why the hero faces the problems, defeats the
problems, and overcomes the obstacles that the hero faces. All that the characters
and the people want in the stories is for whom ever the hero is, they want that
person to save them from the people or things that threaten them. In other words,
the people do no care so much about what the hero is going through, the people just
want the hero to deliver, so it is an absolute must for the hero s confidence to be
above the average person. This also applies for real life experiences for this day and
age. The only difference is this is real life, and

  • 2. Comparision of Genesis with Other Creation Mythologies Essay Comparison of Genesis with Other Creation Mythologies We all know that our mothers and fathers gave us birth, and grandmothers and grandfathers gave our parents birth. However, what about the beginning? What does the beginning look like? Who created the sky, the earth, the mountains and rivers, the plants, the animals, and the human beings? How was the world created? What happened to the creator? These questions have puzzled and are asked by every people. However, no one has yet found the answers, and I have heard people saying that the creation of life is as impossible as the natural creation of an airplane from a stack of waste. With the willingness of knowing the self, ancient people tried to create mythological stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only difference is that in this Indian story, not even God(or an equivalent form) was there. Egyptians and Chinese imagined the same scene, the Nun and the chaotic egg with a giant (Egyptian, Lin 1). In contrast with the creation out of nothing, the indigenous Australian mythology tells us that the stars, the sky, the sun, the moon, and the ancestors of all lives were already present in the beginning, but they are sleeping under the crust of the earth in the water holes (Aborigine). Seneca people believed that humans were living in the heaven originally, and there were only ocean and ocean living lives on the earth (Creation). It is very interesting to recognize how important water is to lives. Every account of creation that I have read included water before anything else was present. Whatever was present in the beginning had managed to create all the rest, and the description of creators are of three categories, a single creator, multi creators, and no creator. In Genesis, God is the single creator, and so is Brahman of India. The difference is that the God is immortal, but Brahman is mortal (Genesis, Genesis Project). In Chinese mythology, Pan Gu was the creator of everything but men, who were created by Nu Wa, a goddess (Lin 1 5). Other examples of multi creators are in the mythology of Egypt and Seneca in which the children of the creator became
  • 3. Akeelah Research Paper Akeelah works hard to achieve her personal legend and her whole world conspires to help make that happen. Akeelah Anderson, is a eleven year old African American student from the Crenshaw neighborhood of South Los Angeles, struggles to overcome the limitations of her environment. In the early stages of the movie Akeelah has a passion for spelling. Spelling is a secret talent Akeelah holds and excels at, but does not wish to share, as she would be perceived as a brainiac . Akeelah s enjoyment of spelling is showcased, when she adds a new word she learns or hears to her diary. This habit was a good omen because it created more pathways for her which would eventually lead her to what she truly enjoys and not be frightened of what others thought.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The girl holding spelling bee trophy, sparked her interest. This is the starting point that brings Akeelah closer to her personal legend, because her aptitude for words spurs school admins and will eventually influence Akeelah to join the spelling bee. Akeelah s mentors have a positive impact on her and the choices she makes. Akeelah s English teacher, Mrs. Cross, acknowledges Akeelah s ability, and informs Akeelah that she would be one of her best students if she attended class and completed homework assignments. By doing this, she reassures Akeelah that she is capable of succeeding if she applies herself. Supposing that Akeelah may have an interest in spelling based on her keen ability, Mrs. Cross encourages Akeelah to enter the school spelling bee. She refuses to participate in the school spelling bee until the principal suggests that she should because she is the only hope that can bring the school some attention. When Akeelah gets a taste of victory by winning the school bee, she is smothered by spellings that Dr. Larabee throws at her to spell as she spells each word without a

  • 5. The Impact Of Eigenvalues On The Electron Phonon Coupling... IMPACT OF EIGENVALUES ON THE ELECTRON PHONON COUPLING STRENGTH OF INDIUM AND ITS BINARY ALLOYS S. K. Chakrabarti Department of Physics Tribhuvan University, MMAM Campus, Biratnagar, Nepal ABSTRACT Indium is a trivalent metal. Though chemically not so reactive, it often forms complexes within its binary alloys. In this theoretical work we have studied the impact of eigenvalues on the electron phonon coupling strength of indium. We have also dealt with the same for two binary alloys of it viz. indium magnesium and indium zinc. First of all we have computed the non local screened form factor for each of them. For this purpose initially the orthogonalised plane wave parameter is considered as unity. Thereafter Vashishta Singwi form of exchange and correlation are employed. For indium the Clementi eigenvalues being not available, the experimental energy values have been taken besides the Herman Skillman core energy eigenvalues. Our results are quite satisfactory for the metal. For the alloys our results lie within the range of values as obtained by other researchers. Our computation reveals that the superconducting state parameter can be reasonably reproduced by Harrison s first principle pseudopotential technique along with McMillan s formalism provided a proper choice of the core energy eigenvalues is made. Key words: Superconducting state parameter, Orthogonalised plane wave parameter, Core energy eigenvalue, Non local screened form factor, Harrison s first principle

Just as Judith butler distinguishes sex and gender, jess finds herself at that fine line. The topic of identity is a long journey for jess, and as written in the book, she suffers greatly. Because of the predetermined roles society has set, many women and men as well can have trouble fitting their assigned roles. In the same sense that jess struggles to find a name for what she is, she has to say what she is not. In the same sense of figuring out what feminism is. Jess is constantly being asked what she is, when she herself does not know if there is even a name for it. Jess is a prime example of the obscure line that resides between identity and physical characteristics set from birth. As written in the book, her hardships and misery are not to be diminished. Jess is a complex character, she feels attracted to women, yet she is not just a lesbian. Her struggles arise from the fact that even though she is attracted to women, she feels as if she ought to have the body of a man. And as Jess decides to change her body. Her difficulty in finding herself sets her on a path where modern medicine can perhaps change the mistake of

  • 8. An Multidisciplinary Art Form Of Experimental Music... In its current incarnation, the multidisciplinary art form of Experimental Music Theatre is relatively new in the art world. It encompasses a wide range of musical and theatrical forms and styles and is often presented in unconventional venues. Similar to Wagner s notion of Gesamtkunstwerk, Experimental MusicTheatreseeks to integrate all the arts to create one complete art form. For Wagner, this ideal materialized in his Operas, which he labelled music dramas. However, in contrast to Wagner s dramas, where music, voice, poesy, painting, lighting, costume design, choreography, and more came together to form a grand spectacle, an Experimental Music Theatre work normally eschews or subverts scenic illusions, dramatic representation, role playing, and fictional time. There are no plots or roles to play; the musicians and actors are themselves, there and then, creating the artwork in the moment thus blurring the lines between Life and artistic expression; a concept not new in the art world. Nontraditional music theatre has rarely attracted the volume of attention that Opera or Broadway musicals have achieved. Perhaps because it has no traditional form, no set parameters to construct or convey an artistic idea. It embraces and makes use of all forms and styles of music, theatre, and media. This broad spectrum of available techniques, methods, styles, forms, technologies, etc., has created endless possibilities by which to create and perform art. Though the term Experimental
  • 9. The Mende Man Pieces Together The Story Of Jesus Christ Faith plays an important role in the Mende s road to freedom. When the word faith comes to mind, it is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires perseverance in that belief. The Mende people certainly showed faith in more ways than one, but an example that is true to the definition mentioned before is one where Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After examining the pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing very little English. He shows the story to Cinque, and both men see how Jesus had unrightfully died, yet in death he had arrived in a place more beautiful than the world on which he lived. As a response, Cinque and his friend mustered up the faith to propel them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With faith and hope, they entrusted all communications to Cinque and had faith that he would speak for the best of all the Mende. This faith in Cinque as well as a faith in a better life after the trials brought unity amongst the Mende people. From then on, they become more than just a tribe. Through faith, they had grown close enough to consider one another family. Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening scene, the Mende people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one family. This was shown when Cinque bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there. With bloody hands and fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around him. In doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful insurrection against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family members back in Africa. However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they bring their home in Africa to America. They bring the traditions that run in the Mende family and stay faithful in performing those traditions. For example, when one Mende died in the prison, they attempted to hold a customary ritual to show due respect and allow eternal peace for the soul of their recently passed family member. Although the whites opposed them from doing so, the Mende people were fervent about their African duties and respects towards

This is why this essay will discuss the problems faced by opposition political parties in Zambia using the structural functionalist theory. First it will explain what structural functionalism is, then it will define structures, functions, a political party and an opposition party then before giving the conclusion it will discuss the problems faced by opposition parties in Zambia. The Media is also another structure involved with the dissemination of information to the society. According to Almond and Powell (1966) a political party needs to communicate with the electorate. Every time opposition parties receive coverage in an article, have their face on television or their voice on radio, they assume that they increase their chances among potential voters. In Zambia however instead of the media being one of the means of popularity exposure for opposition parties, it tends not to give them enough time because of the media being influenced by government. Zambian Economist (accessed on 17.12.13) states if the press was free we would for example expect high degree of information compared to a government controlled media . Hence this becomes a problem for the opposition. The Judiciary has a function of enforcing the law and making sure the rule of law is observed. The Zambia Reports (accessed on 9.12.13) states UPND chairperson for Tourism and Culture Ephraim Belemus said Acting Chief Justice Chibesakunda was compromised and her continued stay at the helm of the Judiciary had proved costly to the justice system of the country . From this quotation we can tell that in Zambia the opposition political parties have been shut from making meaningful contribution to the nation. This absence of effective participation in the political process is a very serious limitation that Zambian opposition parties face. The executive is in
  • 12. Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Development Theory Erikson was a theorist who focused on his theory for psychosocial development. The article Psychosocial Identity Development Theories, highlights the keys points and idea of Erikson s psychosocial theory. Erikson was very focused on the idea of ego identity and obtaining full potential. His theory or model stats that, identity formation is based on overcoming conflicts that individuals encounter during adolescent and early childhood. (Karkouti, 2014, p.257) He believed that all people must endure certain conflicts in their lives, and then overcome them in order to obtain their ego identity. The idea of psychosocial development is focused on social conflicts, and environmental factors. In the psychosocial model that Erikson created, it places people into eight stages. In order for someone to move on to the next stage, they must first overcome the conflict presented to them in the stage that they are in. A well established identity will get stronger the more that conflict is successfully resolved. The eight stages are basic trust versus mistrust, autonomy versus shame and doubt, initiative verses guilt, industry versus inferiority, identity versus identity diffusion, intimacy versus isolation, generativity versus stagnation, and ego integrity versus despair. In this article, it not only focuses on the main idea for psychosocial development, but it continues by then saying that the theory has two criticisms, stages are descriptive and they are difficult to be empirically

Conceptual Framework Toxic leadership includes managerial incompetence, threatening, controlling and unlawful behaviors, and physical and non physical abuse that are intentionally hostile or detrimental to both individuals and groups (Ashforth, 1994; Kellerman, 2004; Reed, 2004; Lipman Blumen, 2005a). Whereas, intentionality play a central role in how the leader can be classified as intentionally toxic or unintentionally toxic leader. Leaders who are considered intentionally toxic deliberately harm others to strengthen themselves at the expense of others (Lipman Blumen, 2005a). While unintentionally toxic leaders act recklessly, including being incompetent, which can have significant negative effects on followers. The study of Pelletier (2010) reveals eight dimensions of leader toxicity that involves leaders breaking down the self esteem of followers, threatening employees, lack of integrity, intimidating employees physically and mentally, and being dishonest. In addition, leaders are considered toxic when they promote a culture of division and fail to listen or act on employee concerns. It is important to distinguish between bad leaders and toxic leaders where the influence of the leaders on followers will determine this fact. As toxic leaders, will have a long term psychological and physical effects on their followers (Pelletier, 2010).

Unless the demand of a good or service is increasing, additional production capacity would only result in lesser revenue for competing firms. The luxury hotel industry on a global basis shares the characteristics of high capital requirements and a high proportion of fixed costs to total cost. In addition to physical facilities, a substantial amount of financial resources is required for construction, furnishing, pre operational expenses and marketing activities. It is of good marketing advantage that The Ritz Carlton belong to a chain of hotels to benefit from brand image or loyalty. The stronger the attachment of buyers to established brands, the harder it is for a newcomer to break into the marketplace. (John E. Current research has begun to focus on the archaeal pilus and its relatedness to bacterial pili, particularly the bacterial type IV pilus. Using genetic and microscopy techniques, these studies have shown comparative evidence for the differences, as well as homology, between archaeal and bacterial type IV pili. Test Material And Its Effects On The Human Body TEST MATERIAL SUBMITTED BY Anuron Deka A1218311004 B.Tech 8th Sem Abstract Thousands of people around the world suffer from injuries everyday which requires removal or reinforcements of the damaged tissues through surgical procedures. Tissue engineering, especially scaffolds have a major role to play in such situations. Scaffolds, a porous cross linked structure aims at the regeneration of the damaged tissue by supporting the cells mechanically while not altering the normal functioning of the cell and the individual as whole. Scaffolds are generally made of synthetic biocompatible polymers. But such scaffolds are generally expensive and may take longer time to decompose inside our body. So we looked for autologous biomaterials which have the desirable properties and can be used in place of the polymers. The autologous biomaterials will also be cheaper and decompose faster compared to the polymers. In this report, I have mentioned three such autologous biomaterials; albumin, collagen and B.mori silk fibroins, which are easily available and possesses the desired properties to manufacture scaffolds from them. I manufactured scaffolds by the process of electrospinning and tested the porosity and swelling of the scaffolds. Introduction Tissue engineering is a field where scientists try to repair or regenerate damaged tissues or cells with the help of artificial materials. In layman s term, tissue engineering can be defined as an interdisciplinary field

Saunders believes that the cost of the American obsession comes from the belief that we shall cultivate the self rather than the community, and that we should look to the individual as a source of hope and the center of value. This is an extremely American beliefs because our government, economy, religion and present century all encourage this idea, as stated by Sanders when he states: we have the bill of rights, which protects each of us each of us from the bullying society, but not build responsibilities which will obligate us to answer the needs of others . Effects Of Anatomical Parts Of Ephedra Sinica Ephedra (Ma Huang) is a genus of plant, most commonly derived from the dried herbaceous stems of the Chinese species, Ephedra sinica (Figure 1a and 1b). The natural plant source produces six Ephedra alkaloids, chemicals which are considered to be the active constituents of the plant; ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, norephedrine, norpseudoephedrine, methylephedrine and methylpsuedoephedrine (Figure 2) (Veitch et al., 2013). The presence and concentrations of these alkaloids depends primarily on the plant species, origin, growing conditions, and the raw plant material processing, with most species largely containing ephedrineand pseudoephedrine (Haller et al., 2004). Metabolomic studies have shown that anatomical parts of Ephedrasinica have different therapeutic pharmacological effects and for this reason, have been used for different purposes in medicine. This was demonstrated by Lv et al (2015), who used GC MS to compare the concentrations of Ephedra sinica in the stems (Ma Huang) and in the roots (Mahuanggen) of different plant samples. It was concluded that the pharmacologically important ephedrine alkaloids were present in higher quantities in the stems. This is why Ephedra herb, sold as dry stems of Ephedra sinica, has been used as a commercial source of ephedrine alkaloids worldwide, in particular Europe and America (Lee 2011). • 32. The Secret To Raising Smart Children Summary In the article The Secret to Raising Smart Children , by Carol Dweck there are strong statements about growth and fixed mindsets. Growth mind set is important for children with impressionable minds, with the right amount of focus, effort, and praise they can shape their minds for success. Without this they can become lazy and discouraged making them not want to try at all, a fixed mindsetwill not let them continue in a progressive manner. Dweck goes on to discuss that talent is worshipped in our society so children often feel that if they do not do exceptionally well they are unintelligent and should not try. Other times students do well in graded school where not much work is required, so when middle school or high school hits they lack the motivation to try harder. Such children hold an implicit belief that intelligence is innate and fixed, making striving to learn seem far less important than being (or looking) smart...the need to exert effort as threats to their ego rather than as opportunities to improve, (Dweck, 81). This is a powerful quote that I will further discuss. Growth mind set is the idea that you can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. Authentic And Cultural Background Of The Apache Authentic and Cultural Background of the Apache The Athapaskan talking individuals of the Southwest, whom the Spanish and the Pueblos would call Apaches, initially originated from areas well north of the Canadian fringe. They entered the fields at some point going before the Columbian voyage, most likely pursuing the developing crowds of wild ox that rose after 1200, and they assembled another economy and social structure tweaked to the necessities of the occasionally troublesome environment. From there on Apache populaces developed, and by 1700 they ruled the western segments of the southern fields and the mountains of New Mexico. Apaches, more than whatever other gathering, tested the Pueblo Indian populaces and also the infringing Spaniards for control of the political economy of the Southwest. The Apaches made a place for themselves in the Southwest at an extremely troublesome time in history, when other tribal social orders endured decrease and demolition. The Apaches survived and flourished outside the Spanish frontier framework fundamentally in light of the fact that they adjusted to the changing biological systems of the Southwest; they modified their economy by making new techniques for generation and extending or contracting sociopolitical structures to meet financial requests. Every now and again such changes incorporated the appropriation of specific parts of European culture, for illustration, altered types of pastoralism. Apaches
  • 40. Examples Of A Forced Oscillator The steam engine is a perfect example of a forced oscillator as the piston oscillates back and forth. The steam engine is a forced oscillator as it is a heavily dampened system that has a force to counter the resistance and keep the piston moving at a constant oscillation until the force is removed from the system. Due to the steam engine being quite heavily damped this oscillator will just simply stop without a force to compensate for the resistance within this system. But this force also has to be applied at the perfect time as it will have no or little affect if it is applied at the wrong time so timing has to be taken into account and the size of the force also has to be just enough to overcome the resistance to either accelerate the piston or to keep it a constant velocity. The force though has to be equal to resistance to keep the piston moving at a constant velocity and to increase the velocity of the piston the force will have to be greater than the resistance in the system, but to decrease the velocity of the piston the force will have to be less than the resistance in the system. ... We see that the passage of these initiatives affected the ability of the legislature to create important policies. Proposition 140 is a reform initiative that drastically changed the fundamentals of the legislative system. This proposition halted the cycle of institutional knowledge for legislators who become experts in certain policies. They are barred from running for office once the term limit is fulfilled. In the bigger picture, legislative committee leaders are sometimes new legislators who do not have expertise in the policy. This is problematic because lack of expertise hinders the creation of innovative and effective policy. Proposition 140 created a better over turn thus, giving minorities and women the chance to represent their constituents; the point of the term limit was to repopulate the legislature. By creating this constant repopulation, it allows expertise to be achieved by legislators but it bars them to contribute into policy making once their term limit is achieved. Proposition 118 on the other hand intends to change the composition of the legislature but makes it harder for redistricting to occur. By passing Proposition 118, the legislature will not be able to represent the people of California accurately; thus, creating policy problems since enacted policies will not

With abortion laws constantly changing, women are finding that they are a continuous target of sexism. Social work is relative to this subject because often times social workers have to assist clients who are seeking or who have had an abortion. It is very important that a social worker is knowledgeable about abortion rights and laws. This is critical as it may become a part of your case. Women s health is equally as important as everyone s else s rights. Instead of focusing on what is much more important, lawmakers have spent a great deal of time focusing on ruling the reproductive rights of women. Abortion rights for women are a constant challenge. Abortion became legal in the 1973 case of Roe v. Wade by the supreme court. A woman then had the right to make choices about her own body. This was all in connection with the right to privacy rights and the pro choice side. The problem is you have individuals that agree with pro life and pro choice. With that being said, the pro life activist believe that the pregnancy should not be terminated and the woman should give birth. Pro choice is when one believes that it s a woman s decision whether she wants to have a baby or not. This ties into sexism because by taking control over women s health rights, you re limiting a women s capabilities as a woman. With sexist thoughts, a woman s rights can easily be violated with stereotypical thoughts and
