A developmental framework for teacher adoption of interactive technologies in...Shona Whyte
PL-CALL keynote on study of IWB-mediated EFL teaching in France. Analysis of video, questionnaire, and interview data allow an exploration of a) teachers’ IWB use in terms of IWB features and teaching objectives, b) their choices with respect to the design and implementation of learning activities, c) their self-efficacy beliefs with respect to the IWB and ICT in general, and d) their orientation to professional development in language teaching with this tool. Through a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative and qualitative analyses, a number of teacher profiles emerge, revealing differential exploitation of IWB affordances in relation with differing beliefs, goals, and competences. The patterns of technology integration shown by teachers in the various school contexts investigated offer a starting point for a developmental framework to account for the evolution of teaching practices as teachers acquire techno-pedagogical competences (Guichon & Hauck, 2012). They also suggest a pressing need for more pedagogically oriented support to enable teachers to adopt interactive technologies efficiently and effectively.

2. Your Analysis
Give at least three benefits of doing a survey of available materials before making your own materials.
Explain each.
1. It can make the learning of our students be more effective:
- If our materials are available, we can say that the learning process is effective. Students can easily get
the lesson In the presence of these materials.
2. The flow of the teaching process and learning process of both the students and the teacher is easier:
- On the part of the teacher, it is easy for her to discuss her lesson because she can explain it in actual
and perform it with the use of these materials. For example, in volleyball, she can easily demonstrate
the proper skill on holding the ball or in spiking. Also, on the part of the students, they can easily apply
it.
3. Less effort and can save time:
- Less effort and can save time because if they are available materials, n need to find them and the flow
of discussion will be continues and it can save the time of discussion.
3. Your Reflections:
1. Which of the materials did you like making the most? Why?
2. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the materials? How did you overcome them?
3. What tips can you give teachers regarding preparation of teaching materials?
Julie Fe Catingub
- As a future teacher, I should make my lesson be more interesting to my students. I should also make
my materials/ learning resource is more creative to have a good interaction with my students.
The material that I would like to make is by creating a PowerPoint presentation, through this, the
students will listen to your discussion, it also catch the attention of my students. This would help the
students broaden their knowledge in my discussion, it also gives them some important information
about the topic and they can also write/ take down notes the most important words. The difficulties
that I encounter making my materials are that, I should give time in preparing my PowerPoint
presentation. It really takes time to create a good, simple but creative presentation. I should take an
effort to have a good presentation to make my discussion effective to my students. I overcome this by
enjoying making my presentation clear and understandable by my students. And I should take a risk/
effort, that I can do it by myself. The tips that I can give to the teachers regarding the presentation of
teaching materials are to be more unique/creative to catch the attention of the students. To exert an
effort in preparing the presentation. And to create a good presentation to have an effective discussion
to the students.
As a whole, future teachers should create an effective presentation to make the class interesting.
Teachers should also know the strengths and weaknesses of their students and should accommodate
them in a proper way.

1. The materials that I like making the most is the power point presentation because even though it
has so many process in making it what is important is the learning of the students. Because the
attention of the students will be in the power point so they can listen or they have the interest in
what you discuss or what you put to the power point. They can learn the important matters of my
4. lesson. You need to know how to present effectively in order to keep the attention of the class.
Using monotonous presentations will bore the class and affect their attention levels. Presentations
need to be stimulating and interesting as students learn maximum though a combination of visual
and auditory mode. Only then will students respond and retain information you wish to impart.
2. The difficulties that I encounter in making the materials is in choosing the background design of the
slide, in choosing the transition of the slide and the pictures as an example of your lesson if you
don't have internet connection. It’s very difficult to make the presentation if it has no internet
connection. But in typing the important words is easy because you can only press the letters of your
keyboard. I overcome them by making my power point presentation with enjoyment and to think
that what I’m doing or making is the effective learning of the students. And if it has no internet
connection I will go to the internet cafe so that I can make a presentable and clear presentation for
the good of my students.
3. The tips that I can give to teachers regarding to the preparation of teaching materials are you must
have survey of what will be the materials that is effective in teaching, and you must think if you can
get the attention and interest of the students and after choosing you will have an effort in making
your materials or learning resources so that it can be presentable and interesting and it also
depends on how you discussed the lesson in your students.

1. As part of the job of a teacher, making instructional materials for the teaching process is a must.
We must consider the appearance of our instructional materials to be use during discussion so
that our students will become more interested on the lesson. Making my power point
presentation is one of the instructional materials that I like. Why? It is because it makes my
instructional materials be more effective to my students. I also enjoy making this power point
presentation. It allows me to explore more on how to make my presentation be more creative
and attractive in the eyes of my students.
5. 2. In everything we do, we cannot avoid to encounter difficulties. With these difficulties, it will help
us improve and learn what our failures while making projects. As I make my instructional
materials, one of the difficulties I encounter is the availability of computer. It is because I don’t
have my own computer. I need to go to the internet café and make my presentation and it’s
hard on my part.
3. In preparing your materials for your discussion, teacher must have knowledge on how to use
technology as their instructional materials. Students are more interested to listen if we use
these technology rather than those 2 dimensional materials. Their attention will easily get. Also,
teacher must be creative in making their presentation. The more attractive the presentation,
the greater the impact of the learning. As a whole, it only depends on the teacher on how
he/she delivers their lesson. They should not only depend on their instructional materials but
these instructional materials are only a tool to make their teaching process be effective.
Irene Buala
1. The teacher must provide efficient materials to the students for his/her instructions to the
classroom. Teacher should prepare instructional materials during his/her discussion that make
the students interested to lessen. Like preparing visual aids and power point presentation to
the students in the classroom. Through these materials, the students can easily understand the
lesson is all about. And to help the students to enhance and improved their learning’s.
2. The difficulties that I encounter in making the materials are like using the computers, because I
have no enough knowledge by using the computers. And the other one is the self confident,
because my knowledge is not enough to share to others. But I will try my best, because as a
teacher, my responsible is to teach the students and that’s my role in this world.
3. Regarding in preparing of teaching materials, the teacher should have enough knowledge of the
materials that he/she prepare for the discussion. So that, the students can learned from those
materials. The teacher should deliver the lesson properly and for better understanding.
