Environmental Degradation Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of environmental degradation presents a multifaceted challenge
that goes beyond mere composition. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a coherent
structure and eloquent expression but also in grappling with the weighty subject matter itself.
Addressing the myriad aspects of environmental degradation requires a comprehensive
understanding of ecological systems, scientific principles, and socio-economic dynamics.
Moreover, the essay demands a delicate balance between presenting alarming facts and figures to
underscore the severity of the issue while offering viable solutions to inspire hope. Striking this
equilibrium necessitates a nuanced approach, wherein the writer must navigate through complex
scientific data, governmental policies, and grassroots initiatives. The emotional aspect should not
be overlooked, as conveying the urgency of addressing environmental degradation requires a
skillful blend of empathy and factual representation.
Additionally, the writer must remain vigilant about avoiding oversimplification or overly
technical language, ensuring accessibility to a diverse audience. An in-depth literature review
becomes essential, as staying abreast of current research findings and global developments is
crucial for providing a well-rounded perspective.
The challenge is not just about putting words on paper but about weaving together a narrative
that resonates with the reader's intellect and emotions. The writer must grapple with the ethical
dimensions of the topic, addressing questions of responsibility, accountability, and the collective
effort required for sustainable change.
In conclusion, composing an essay on environmental degradation is a demanding endeavor that
goes beyond conventional writing challenges. It requires a synthesis of scientific knowledge,
socio-economic insights, and effective communication skills to convey the urgency of the issue
while offering meaningful solutions. Crafting such an essay is a testament to the writer's ability
to navigate the complexities of a critical global concern and inspire action.

Sitcoms Influence On American Culture
Sitcoms have long been characterized by laughter, large casts of characters, and
recurring locations. While these qualities have remained consistent over the years,
sitcoms have adjusted over time to better reflect their audience. A number of pre
2000s shows such as Friends and Cheers depict an idealized group of friends who
spend sizeable amounts of their days with each other. These characters rarely come
into conflict, and they confront any problem as a group. These shows possess a
generally positive vibe, acting as a form of escapism for anyone who might be
feeling down. However, these shows have become rarer and less popular over the
course of the 2000s due to changing American perceptions of the world, which have
become more pessimistic over time. Possible reasons for this include personal
conflicts, financial struggles, or increased exposure to... Show more content on

The characters of It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, collectively referred to as the
Gang, are a group of almost irredeemable individuals who cannot truly be considered
friends. Most episodes depict one or more members of the group creating and
carrying out a convoluted plot to acquire something, such as money or revenge. Each
character is willing to betray, manipulate, and abuse one another in order to get ahead.
They have very few positive qualities, and their many flaws include addiction,
illiteracy, sociopathy, repressed homosexuality, and extreme narcissism. In contrast,
the characters of The Office are far more good natured. While the show often focuses
on the conflict between the characters, these disputes are much more tame and
innocent compared to those in It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Additionally, this
strife often originates from misunderstanding or ignorance, rather than outright
malice. Despite their differences, many of the characters still end up in positive
relationships with each
The Revolutionary Armed Forces Of Colombia
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia The Revolutionary Armed Forces
of Columbia, otherwise known as FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de
Colombia) was originally established in 1964 from a fractioned group of the
Columbian Communist Party. It was formed during a war between the political
parties that consisted of liberals and conservatives. After the Violence aka La
Violencia which left around 200,000 people dead over a 15 year span many
peasants fled their homes including one Manuel Marulanda Velez real name Pedro
Antonio Marin (Molano, A., 2000). He was part of the liberals but joined the
communist party after they had started forming militia groups known as self defense

Literary estimates show that FARC was responsible for the trade of nearly $2
million per day in drug trafficking. Money and political strength were near the heart
of the groups daily functions. The finance of terrorism is also where the vulnerability

main conclusion, which is more implicit than explicit, is that while combating
terrorism financing is important to diminishing a terrorist group s capacity to inflict
harm, it is only one instrument among many with which to target organizations
(p.407). Through land rights, political participation, or economic reform, Columbia
would work diligently to bring an end to a battle in 2014. Negotiations for peace
began in 2012. It was believed that FARC was responsible for the kidnapping of a
Columbian senator from his aircraft followed by a mortar attack on the Presidential
Palace 6 months later. FARC had been labeled as the oldest, largest, most capable and
best equipped insurgency group. Fears mounted that, without peace negotiations,
civilian casualties would outweigh any attempts at casual negotiation. Unilateral
cease fires were unsuccessful. The only means of Columbian efforts was to being
attacks that would challenge and eliminate monetary power and members within
authoritarian roles. Efforts were quickly noted. As described by Kan (2014), Treasury
Loa Dylan To Me Essay
Dylan further represents America as a place with significant corruption and
misconduct within the song. Verse 12 reads; Bent out of shape from society s pliers,
Cares not to come up any higher, But rather get you down in the hole . This line
plays into the idea of keeping the human machine running, society s pliers shape a
person much like the aforementioned everyman completing his nine to five job to
feed the system . However, this line blatantly mentions But rather get you down in the
hole . The idea of trying to keep particular people down through the systematic means
of government relates to the oppression of black Americans of the time. Keeping
certain people down for the government s benefit is clearly what the US government
did to black Americans in an institutionalised fashion. Institutional racismin the

I m only bleeding is a ironic expression conveying Dylan s overwhelming feelings of
helplessness towards the injustice in the world he lived in. However, funnily enough,
through Dylan s representing the blights of American culture in his songs, the
American people were able to reflect on injustice, which moved people to support
social progress like the civil rights movement. The attitudes in America that adopted
materialism and conformity were exposed through a multitude of Dylan s lyrics and
additionally the ones who endorsed these values for their own gain were also left to
stand naked through Dylan s work. At times, this song almost seems saddening
reminding the audience of existential dread through certain lyrics, however, overall, it
can be concluded the inherited despondency in the text is a testament to the
verisimilitude within his writings providing a genuine feeling that his fans adore;
which is ultimately why Dylan is credited as, the spokesman of his

s stories. One night Mrs. Darling spots Peter and catches his shadow after it
becomes detached when the window clips it off. She locks it in a drawer for safe
keeping. Peter returns while Mr. and Mrs. Darling are out attending a party to
retrieve his shadow. This time Wendy wakes up and catches Peter in her room. After
helping him with his shadow Peter invites Wendy to come back with him to
Neverland. She wakes her brother and Peter teaches them to fly. The Darling children
and Peter Pan fly off to Neverland as their parents rush home from the party to stop
them. In Neverland the children and Peter go on many adventures and battle the
notorious Captain Hook. The story of their adventures has been made into several
different films, each taking a different perspective on how the characters are

I)Introduction
1.Attention getter: Whenever you hear the word genetically modified or genetically
engineered, what do you think? Some people think of enormous fruits and vegetables
or huge chickens that can t even walk, but that s not the case.
2.Relevance: Genetically modified organisms, more commonly known as GMO s are
the topic of many conversations concerning food safety.
3.Credibility Statement:
4.Central Idea: GMO s are an important part of many people s lives, and they provide
millions with the healthy, nutritional food they need to live.

According to Dictionary.com, GMO is an organismwhose genome has been altered
through genetic engineering so that its DNA contains one or more genes not normally
found there (gmo).
2.GMO s are used to increase crop yields and produce larger crops to be able to
feed more people. In fact, many crops commonly in use today are genetically
engineered (Wax 2016). Some of these include soybean, cotton, and corn. These three
crops are then use in industrial factories to produce products such as sweeteners, oils,
and starches.
Transition to 2nd Main Point: Now that we know what a GMO is, how are they made?
Point 2: GMO production takes quite the effort.

gene by using a comparative analysis, or looking side by side at the genes of a plant

Types Of Bull Mask From The Guinea Coast
The Bidyogo are a people group of approximately 15,000 from the Bissagos islands
just southwest of the Guinea Coast. The Bidyogo people are known for their
excellent craftsmanship and elaborate ceremonies. These ceremonies can be held for
many different events, one of these being initiations. During the initiation
ceremonies, many masks, headdresses and costumes are worn to help depict the
process of immature boys and girls reaching the overall goal of maturity. One of the
objects that is used during initiation is a mask that represents the bull. Depending the
island and the age gradethat a performer is a part of, different types of bull masks
are used. Careful research of these different kinds of bull masks with their precise
construction and how these particular masks are used will aid in the understanding of
the importance of the bull mask to the Bidyogo people.
Figure 1 is the first type of bull mask, Vaca Bruto or wild cattle in creole. This type
of bull mask is found on the islands of Uno and Formosa. The Vaca Bruto is carved
from wood, and has life like features carved into the face. It also has eyes that are
made glass, real horns, ears made of leather, and a rope through the nose. In addition
to the Vaca Bruto mask, performers wearcostumes. These costumes are made of
belts, arm guards, and back adornments . The mask and costume are animated by
the performer in a number of ways. The first way is to make the mask act life like

Statement of Purpose for Linfield College s Athletic...
I would like to become a certified athletic trainer through the Linfield program
because of my love for sports and medicine. I was involved in a number of sports
throughout my life and have gone through a number of injuries. There is one injury
in particular that sparked my interest in athletic training. I was playing soccer at
Chemeketa Community College when I broke my foot. I spent many hours with the
athletic trainerthere Julie Speck (PT/ATC/R), who gave me the opportunity to work
with her in the training room. She also sparked another interest and that is to get my
dual credentials in athletic trainingand physical therapy. I see myself using both
degrees in the future like my mentor Julie Spark (PT/ATC/R). She works in a
hospital as a physical therapist and is contracted out to Chemeketa Community
College as an athletic trainer. This is exactly what I plan to do with both my
degrees. As an athletic trainer there are many qualities you must possess. One, unique
qualities that I have is being naturally competitive. My competitive nature makes me
want to be the best at everything I m doing. It motivates me to try my hardest to
accomplish my goals. Handle stress is also an important quality that I possess. The
training center can seem a stressful at times with so many people coming in and out.
I can not only handle this stress but thrive in this kind of environment. I m a very
sports oriented person and that s something I share with the athletes. I understand
The Establishment Of Black Greek Lettered Organizations
The establishment of Black Greek lettered organizations is an important cornerstone
for the solidarity of black people. As many others are concerned, Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraternity, Inc. was the first Black fraternal group, but on the contrary there were
several other attempts to begin like organizations. Unfortunately, it was so that the
due to the overwhelming stress of racism that these organizations were not allowed
to thrive. In particular, the chapter goes in to semi significant depth about the
infrastructure of the Masons secret society. Originally, the Masons were
legitimately a group of stonemasons during the fourteenth century. They would
form lodges located in different regions in which the members would seek
membership. This idea runs parallel to present day Black Greek lettered
organization as there are chapters at different universities where an upstanding
gentleman would seek membership. Also, the behavior of developing code
language and grips to identify true members of the organization was also adopted
from Masonic tradition. Where the Masons enter the conversation of Black
fraternal orders is in 1787 when the first all black lodge was founded. Arguably,
these lodges of Free Masons is the true beginning of Black fraternities. Another noted
organization that may be credited as an earlier Black Greek lettered organization is
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. It is more commonly noted that this organization
was founded on January 5, 1911, however, it is revealed
My Belief Of God Has A Strong
My belief in God has alway been very strong. This last summer my youth group
from church and I went on a service trip to Lexington, South Carolina. Through this
experience I firmly believe that my actions and the help of others that I grew in
my relationship with God immensely. It not only changed me emotionally, but
spiritually as well. I developed more as a person, feeling that I now fit in in the
world and in my normal life in Dubuque. From the 4 A.M. wake up to leave, till the
11:45 P.M. arrival time back in Dubuque, the events that happened during the trip

They were very kind and help us to move our bags inside and show us around. In
the church guys slept in one room while girls slept in the other. In the guys room
we set up our air mattresses and cots to sleep on. We had enough space in the room
that really everyone got their own personal corner and outlet. We socialize with
each other until more groups started to arrive then we would go and introduce
ourselves and socialize with them as well. There ended up being one group from
New Jersey and one from South Carolina. After socializing for about two or three
hours, we were called to the social room, which also acted as a dining hall for the
week. We ate dinnerand then went back to our rooms. We went and got to know
eachother better until eight and then we went back to the social room. What I
found I was not expecting at all. They had a band and a singer that was singing
Christian music. That night they went over expectations and rule that would have
to be followed throughout the week. One of the staff members, whose name was
Rachel, gave a sermon about a reading for that day. We split into our groups for the
next four days to serve the community. In selecting different roles in the group I
chose to be the lunch devo guy. My job entailed that I bring the lunch devotional
every day. After we were done singing songs and praising God, we went back to our
room and got ready for bed. Lights out time was a eleven o clock sharp. I feel
Grammar Is Necessary In The Workplace
Do you think grammar is necessary inside the workplace and agree with firing
workers with poor grammar? Grammar is a very important life skill, and Kyle
Wiens progressed his company in firing those with poor grammar. He is a grammar
stickler whom has an extreme approach when it comes to grammar, zero tolerance,
firing those without proper grammar. Wiens claims everyone at one of his two
companies iFixit or Dozoki take a mandatory grammar test. Firstly, he conveys his
message that grammar is good credibility. For instance, he said Even in this hyper
competitive market, I will pass on a great programmer who cannot write. Both of his
companies are online instructions and manuals, but if you have online instructions

Character Analysis Of Remember The Titans
In the film Remember the Titans head coach H. Boone exhibits many perspectives of
an effective leader of change. He embraces natural tactics of being Real, Relevant,
and Relatable as a way of implementing change amongst these divided young men.
As a leader you must be real with yourself and others for fake will not fix or
implement change. In his position Herman Boone was real in a sense that he was
genuinely honest and upfront in every encounter with others, he does not sugar coat
things or beat around the bush, and instead of telling you what you want to hear, he
tells you what you need to know. At times though it seems that Boone s raw
emotions such as his attitude, assertiveness and arrogance are a bit too real, we are
able to see that they are key components in how he establishes his sense of urgency
throughout the organization. At the start of the movie, the sense of urgency
created by Boone s attitude almost lead the team in the wrong direction, as the
players did not respect or understand the way he went about doing things. For
example, before the players leave for camp Boone is approached by Bertier about
positions on the team, in the midst of the conversation Boone says You take a look
at her. Cause once you step on that bus you aint got your mama no more. You got
your brothers on the team and you got your daddy. You know who your daddy is,
doncha? Gary, if you want to play on this football team, you answer me when I ask
you who is your daddy? Statements such as these do not usually sit well with others,
many including myself would find this very disrespectful. On the other hand Coach
Boone s ability to be real with himself as well as others allows him to express raw
emotion and concern that explains his reasoning behind his actions, As shown in
the scene after the first game when Yoates challenges Coach Boone s public
criticism in regards to Petey, he replies you think you re doing these boys a favor,
by taking them aside every time I come down on them...I may be a mean cuss but I
m the same mean cuss with everyone on that football field the world does not give a
damn how sensitive these kids are...you are crippling them the tough love shown by
Coach Boone towards his players expresses a real
Nietzsche Nihilism
The 1859 publication of Darwin s On the Origin of Species had dramatic
consequences, among them the creation of doubt about God s place in a world
where species independently evolve and continually change. Darwin had not merely
questioned God; he had shaken one of the core Christian beliefs: that God had
created a flawless and unchanging earth. When Darwin s ideas were not
scientifically disproven, the basis of Christianity itself was called into question. That
questioning continued as scientific discovery advanced. The traditional view and
place of God became less and less applicable to modern life, triggering an onset of
nihilismin many as the foundations of their lives were chipped away by scientific
progress. Scholars and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gooding Williams identifies two essential reasons for this desertifying effect of
Christian Platonic values on life. First, they identify as wrong or sinful certain
aspects of human life that Nietzsche thinks are vital (34). For example, this vaue
system discourages willing and value creation by claiming all authority in those
areas. As a result, these instincts are repressed in humans, who would rather will
nothingness than not will, finally resulting in a denial of life, which is seen as
unhealthy by Nietzsche (Nietzsche, On the Geneaology of Morals 163). Second,
they favor ... the universal rule of one and only one value scheme, blocking efforts
by individuals to exercise their natural wills to power by creating their own values
(Gooding Williams 35).
Out in that desert, the camel sheds his load, and becomes the lion spirit. Unlike the
obedient, load bearing camel, the lion asserts his own will and lordship in its own
wilderness (Nietzsche, Thus Spake Zarathustra). In order to truly become his own
master as he desires, the lion must triumph over the dragon, representative of the
God and value system he is deserting, which claims that [a]ll values have already
been created, and all created values do I represent (Nietzsche, Thus Spake
Zarathustra). Since both lion and dragon claim sole authority over the creation and
valuation of all possible values, one must defeat the other:

In Southern Mexico, the Mayan culture existed from 250 to 900. These people
created a calendar based on a philosophy of natural rhythms and is viewed as
prophetic. The culture of the Mayans is based on the idea of 13 Heavens , or

to be influenced by a creation deity, are all contained in the Long Count , which
was a long period of time tracked by the calendar. This period began in 3114 BC and
ended in 2012, when the world was expected by many to end as the calendar came
to an end. These 13 Heavens contain 7 odd numbered and 6 even numbered Heavens.

Art Room Painting Analysis
Walking through the art room the scent of acrylics guides the nose. The moisture in
the air is so thick, it feels as though a heavy blanket has been laid upon the room. It
seems to make the smell of the room magnify until there is nothing else except the
bitter smell of paints. The tile floors are splattered with paint and smudged with
chalk, which seem to lead you through this humid tundra. Stepping through another
set of doors, the world returns to the cool bliss of fall. Shaping knives, water cans
and an assortment of paint brushes are splayed across the room on countertops and
shelves. The wallto the left is lined with windows, where students always seem to be
looking in, as if to experience some sort of brilliance. But what happens... Show more

The painter picks up the brush, the grains of wood lightly caressing the fingertips,
willing them to move. With one stroke, fine lines bloom on the canvas, they come
forth like flowers during spring. Practiced movements carry the brush from one side
of the canvas to the next, leaving a trail of color in its wake. Laughter and music
dance through the air and taunt the painter with promises of distraction, but the
brushes movements whisk away the torment until the world is quiet. The only thing
moving is the wooden brush, its bristles moist with color.
The window to the left is the only indication of time going by. Green to red, red to
white. The scenery changes, as does the painting. Time goes by in this room. Has it
been weeks? Months? Flitting past like leaves on the trees. The light inside you
burns and begs to be set free. It expands until you are full of anticipating light.
The only thing left on the mind is time. As the painting continues to grow and take
root, the outside world begins to die. Winter is nearing. With the glittering hope of
snowfall brings a new sense of passion. Sprouting from within and spreading
outwards, it overpowers your body and
Allunga
The raucous cackling of kookaburra calls in the misty early sunrise is what I
awaken to, much like every other morning in the outback. But today is different.
There is a meeting to consider possible candidates for the conspicuously empty
void left by the disappearance of one of our previous elders; there s whispers of
alcohol abuse and his inability to fulfill his spiritual duties. Allunga was grieving;
his wife and children had all caught something fiercely vicious, and had suffered

bush medicine couldn t save them; we d even reached out to the white fellas in a

I ve seen some of our local kids, the children whose shoulders always seem to be
curled over despondently, whose family situations only seem to worsen, who try
to hide the angry hand marks bruising their skin. I walk a short way to the
gathering organized today to also discuss the issues that plague our mob, and the
smell of boogalies cooking in camp oven not far off wafts over. We begin by
remembering our great ancestors, and remembering our forefathers who suffered
before us, the lost generation of children. Throughout my entire life, I have seen the
effects of what this horrific tragedy has done to my people. We are a generation
lost and scattered in our own home, family s forever separated, no hope of ever
reconnecting and forever mourning our loss. Some elders begin to discuss our youth,
lamenting how they are drifting from our culture, and are forgetting their language. I
ponder over the many languages lost when the white man invaded and killed our
forefathers, and then forced our enslaved people to never speak their tongue. And
now with so few knowledgeable enough to uphold tradition, even more of the youth
are forgetting their language and heritage, and have less and less respect for their

Reality television only shows what viewers want to see and is dishonest and
distorts the truth about reality. After years celebrity Kate Gosselin has been
attacked for everything she did and does. People magazine says When the show
melted down along with the Gosselin marriage after Jon was caught partying with
other women, the twins 10 years old at the time were old enough to grasp that their
world had been shattered (Coyne 58). This statement shows that reality television

unreal situations and make people start to fight and change. A study found that
people who watched reality television of the surveillance docu drama variety (as
opposed to competition shows) were more likely to believe that relationship drama

Emergency Mangers
The constant threat of focusing events, places a high level of pressure on emergency
managers to respond appropriately to various levels of complex disasters. Past
focusing events, highlight the importance of communication and coordination before
and after disasters. Consequently, citizens expect emergency responders and
government agencies to be accountable for rapidly responding to disasters in an
organized manner. Prior to a focusing event, it is beneficial for emergency mangers to
determine disasterriskprioritization. I present methods that emergency mangers can
use to determine these priorities. Lastly, I discuss the integration of geographic
information systems (GIS) to identify hazardzone areas.
One method to determine disaster risk prioritization is to conduct risk and
vulnerability assessments (Kapucu Г–zerdem, 2013). Secondly, surveys can be given
to citizens to determine how knowledgeable they are about what to do if a disaster
was to occur. This could be crucial in disaster risk prioritization because if there is a
noticeable disconnect in what to do should a disaster ... Show more content on

GIS is a strategic tool emergency mangers rely on to find hidden patterns,
relationships, and trends in certain hazardous and high risk areas in the community
(Nirupama Armnakis, 2013). Furthermore, GIS provides various consequences for
disasters that can occur in these locations. This helps emergency managers create
assessments on which critical services such as fire, emergency medical services, and
police are unable to respond to certain hazard zones due to the effects. Additionally,
since the GIS uses helicopters, planes, and satellites to capture pictures emergency
mangers and first responders are able to see what conditions look like on the ground
to help determine their avenues of approach and courses of actions (Kamien,
Critical Thinking And Critical Thinking
As we arise each morning, we begin to start making decisions in regarding the
activities encountered throughout the day. There is a sense of complacency for the
typical working individual. But, what happens when a situation changes due to

My Dream Story
The story behind me is very long. Lots of stupid things have been done that are very
very stupid. I would say it all began 17 years ago in a hospital but, that s going to be
a lot of work to type a paper. I m going to start this wonderful life, last year school
year. Near the end so all the fun of my life begins. To present day where I continue to
do the stuff that makes people mad but it is very fun for me. It was an early morning
in the month of May near the end of the day and I was in my Civics class. We were
working on our budget project and I was down in the library with a few other people.
Believe it or not I got bored really really quick. When I was walking back I was
walking on paper all the way back up to class because I was told do it so I did. When
I got back to class my teacher gave me a very weird look and didn t say a word. I
kept asking, What I can t touch the ground. She didn t say a single word. Just a few
days later within the month of May, it was a cool warm night. Where everything
was perfect on how it was. No wind, a solid 78 degrees, all by a bonfire around 11 at
night. We were sitting there talking and out of nowhere I just got up and decided
to walk across the fire for no reason. Everyone looked at me very weirdly. All I asked
was, What? My friend Owen just said, You re dumb why would you even do that?
All I could come up with was, Why not? He just looked away and laughed. After

Is It Bad To Romanticize The Past
From this, the question of whether or not it s bad to romanticise the past and if
there s such a thing as being too nostalgic arises. It can be argued that being
nostalgic keeps you stuck in the past and prevents you from embracing the present
and preparing for the future; also, nostalgia can be generally considered to be a
wasted emotionsince you can never really retrieve the past regardless of how
wonderful and positive it may seem. It is one thing to fondly remember to past, but
it s quite another to long for the past longing for the past can be considered to be a
sign that one is reluctant to face the futureand is unwilling to deal with the present;
in a way, a form of escapism. The counterargument is that nostalgia is good for you,
helping you to relive the past and rejuvenate from recollection of past experiences.

Scientist say strong earthquakes can sometimes alter stresses nearby, leading to
subsequent quakes. (p.4, Stevens 2017) Natural disasters are based on many things,
but I think the single most important is physical geography, or location. If you lived
in the drier parts of california, then you would be more prone to wildfires. If you
lived in alaska, then you would be more prone to avalanches. Unfortunately for those
who lived in Mexico, where the North American and pacific plate meet and create

The Bank Robbery By Steven Schutzman Summary
The Bank Of Affection Love; it s a strange and peculiar concept to the human mind.
It has the power to affect one s persona drastically; it may make the meekest
individual strong and the most ardent person frail. Many falsely accuse the power of
endearment with a misnomer, often referred to as lust. The term lust is defined as an
intense desire. Between the crosshairs of loveand lust, lies an entity that is commonly
seen in many folly love struck youth. This strange facet of endearment is best
exemplified in the flash fiction story The Bank Robbery, written by Steven
Schutzman. The short story portrays the surprisingly bizarre, but tender, sense of
affection between a bank robber and a young bank teller. Through the usage of
similes, metaphors,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eerie affinity between the two counterparts is best exemplified by the various
types of figurative language used by Steven Schutzman. Schutzman states the teller, a
young woman of about twenty five, felt the lights of her streets go on for the first
time (Schutzman 1), evidently describing the emotional impact the robber had on the
teller. Figuratively, this statement is an implicit comparison between the lights that
had lined her streets and the teller s discovery of love. This statement also
foreshadows the creation of a turbulent relationship between the two counterparts,
since it depicts a love at first sight moment that conclusively suggests that the folly
lovers will base their romance on short term desires rather than true love. In the
eleventh paragraph, the robber is seen stating Ah money...you are just like love
(Schutzman 1) , evidently proving his lustful adoration towards materialistic facets.
Schutzman implies, through this statement, that this is an example of a metaphor,
since it is an explicit comparison between money and love. The author uses this
metaphor, in order to epitomize the evident unstable romance that is created between
the bank robber and the teller. This statement indirectly implies the fact that the
relationship between the two counterparts is formed due to their lustful momentary
desires. In order

processes control normal growth and development to fight off abnormal diseases in
the body, research on processes such as methylation, acetylation, phosphorylation,
ubiquitylation and sumolyation have been discovered to reverse genes. DNA
methylation is the process of modifying the genes and is used in reprogramming many
diseases including tumor process. Acetylation works to increase the expression of
genes through transcription activation plus alters the chromatin. Phosphorylation is
necessary for protein function which controls enzymes. Ubiquitylation is also a
protein found in tissue that can affect protein deficiency. Sumolyation is very similar
to the ubiquitylation cycle that deals with protein and cells, it does not break down
the protein like ubiquitylation, instead it plays the role of regulating the cell process.
The most common ways of processing with science and technology today is DNA

Why We Utilize Mission Command. Throughout History,...
Why We Utilize Mission Command
Throughout history, commanders and leaders at all echelons in armies across the
globe have been required to make many decisions that affect operations both at home
and abroad. These decisions were based on many different facts and assumptions
available to the commander and his staff and then synthesized to produce orders for
the various missions that were conducted across a myriad of operational
environments. In today s Army, commanders utilize the philosophy of mission
command, which became prominent in the 1980 s. They do this through the
integration of the warfighting functions when conducting unified land operations

2 1). Each of these principles is an essential part of the overall philosophy of mission
command and its application throughout operations in the conduct of unified land
operations. These principles help build the understanding and trust necessary for
Soldiers to act when it is necessary because commanders cannot be in all places at all
times, nor can they can plan for every single change that may occur on the ground.
Build Cohesive Teams The first principle is to build cohesive teams through mutual
trust. Building trust takes time and effort and requires commanders to work
diligently to earn and then keep that trust. This is one reason why battlefield
circulation is so important. When commanders and leaders take the time to get to
know their Soldiers they build a relationship that helps form a bond of trust.
Create Shared Understanding The second principle is to create shared understanding
so that all units involved have a clear understanding of their operational environment,
its purpose, problems, and approaches to solving them. Commanders must share their
vision so that everyone knows exactly what their purpose is and how they can help to
achieve mission success. When we understand the operational environment, the
problem, and how to work to solve the problem we become vested in the

The Issue Of Cyber Crime
Introduction Anonymity has always been a desirable result when criminals commit a
crime. Whether a person is covering their face with a ski mask as they physically rob
a bank or someone infiltrates a hospital s network to steal personal information for
ransom, every criminal finds comfort in the warped sense that their identity will most
likely be unknown, which will allow them to evade law enforcement. Due to
technological advancements, criminals are more likely to remain anonymous after
committing a criminal act when they engage in cyber crime. As a result, organized
crime has been able to evolve due to the rapid emergence of technology, presenting
the greatest threat to the transnational community known to date. Hacktivism, which
is the act of breaking into computer systems for politically and/or socially motivated
purposes, is challenging the fine line between basic rights and criminality. The
majority of criminals on the Internet have portrayed themselves as hacktivists,
however, the distinction between criminals and hacktivists questions the extent of the
rule of law in cyberspace. Cyberspace is defined as the electronic medium of
computer networks, in which online communication takes place. In view of the
nature of cyberspace, hacktivism naturally transcends borders, thus, making this an
emerging transnational issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The best
way to visualize cyberspace is understanding Thomas Hobbes theory on the natural

How Does Shakespeare Present Miranda In The Tempest
Fowles admits that My female characters tend to dominate the male (Fowles, 1982, p.
146). This quote could successfully synthetize Miranda s portrait. Nevertheless, the
intricate psychology that Fowles created for his characters triggers further analysis.
Miranda is in Shakespeare s The Tempest the embodiment of candice. She is a
prisoner, too; on an island. Fowles is meaner than Shakespeare: his island is a
locked cellar, a damp closed space that is killing the heroine slowly but surely. The
modern Miranda seems to be doomed. The young woman is intelligent, educated,
idealistic, vibrant, self opinionated, lively, optimistic and yet she is forced to breathe
the evils of the underworld, of cannibalism. Unlike Shakespeare s character, Fowles
s Miranda is deliberately prevented from having any sort of contact with the world,
evolution is cruelly denied to her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The modern Miranda has no Prospero to work his magic and save her. There is no

order to populate the island with his own semen, Clegg s desire is to subdue

People. (Fowles, 2004, p.251). The collector desperately needs to turn Miranda into
his own creation, to reduce her to the stage of a beautiful, rare, but dead exhibit.
Such intentions contradict Miranda s personality; therefore the novel could not have
ended in a different way. Trying to make Miranda resemble himself, Caliban
commits murder. The young woman s spirit fights up to the last minute and refuses

Descriptive Essay About Mother s Beach
Mother s Beach holds a dear place in my heart. It is where mothers bring their
children knowing the calm, cool waves will allow their young to experience all the
joy a beach can provide. I had been there many of times in my short but happy life.
At the time I had just been faced with all the excitement that comes with celebrating
a birthday; I was now the big 5 years old. I thought I was ready to take on the world,
sadly, I was unaware of all the seemingly innocent dangers out there in the world. My
familyand I were planning a trip to Mothers Beach trying to reminisce in all the
memories we had of Long Beach. In a couple days, we would be moving half way

special place. It would be a break from all of the hectic and assiduous process of
packing up our entire house.
My dad helped my mom load up our white mini van with everything we needed:
towels, sunscreen for our pale as can be skin, and more beach toys than anyone
could ever possibly need; we were ready to conquer the beach. We said, goodbye to
our dad who was making his way out the door to go to work and started out our 15
minute journey to Mother s Beach on Pacific Coast Highway anticipating the
contentment this adventure would bring. My oldest sister, Amanda was sitting in the
front seat next to my mom. My other sister, Shannon and I were in the 2nd row.
Shannon and I were lightly kicking Manda s seat, tormenting her like any annoying

  • 2. Sitcoms Influence On American Culture Sitcoms have long been characterized by laughter, large casts of characters, and recurring locations. While these qualities have remained consistent over the years, sitcoms have adjusted over time to better reflect their audience. A number of pre 2000s shows such as Friends and Cheers depict an idealized group of friends who spend sizeable amounts of their days with each other. These characters rarely come into conflict, and they confront any problem as a group. These shows possess a generally positive vibe, acting as a form of escapism for anyone who might be feeling down. However, these shows have become rarer and less popular over the course of the 2000s due to changing American perceptions of the world, which have become more pessimistic over time. Possible reasons for this include personal conflicts, financial struggles, or increased exposure to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The characters of It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, collectively referred to as the Gang, are a group of almost irredeemable individuals who cannot truly be considered friends. Most episodes depict one or more members of the group creating and carrying out a convoluted plot to acquire something, such as money or revenge. Each character is willing to betray, manipulate, and abuse one another in order to get ahead. They have very few positive qualities, and their many flaws include addiction, illiteracy, sociopathy, repressed homosexuality, and extreme narcissism. In contrast, the characters of The Office are far more good natured. While the show often focuses on the conflict between the characters, these disputes are much more tame and innocent compared to those in It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Additionally, this strife often originates from misunderstanding or ignorance, rather than outright malice. Despite their differences, many of the characters still end up in positive relationships with each

Unfortunately, it was so that the due to the overwhelming stress of racism that these organizations were not allowed to thrive. In particular, the chapter goes in to semi significant depth about the infrastructure of the Masons secret society. Originally, the Masons were legitimately a group of stonemasons during the fourteenth century. They would form lodges located in different regions in which the members would seek membership. This idea runs parallel to present day Black Greek lettered organization as there are chapters at different universities where an upstanding gentleman would seek membership. Where the Masons enter the conversation of Black fraternal orders is in 1787 when the first all black lodge was founded. • 13. Character Analysis Of Remember The Titans In the film Remember the Titans head coach H. Boone exhibits many perspectives of an effective leader of change. He embraces natural tactics of being Real, Relevant, and Relatable as a way of implementing change amongst these divided young men. As a leader you must be real with yourself and others for fake will not fix or implement change. In his position Herman Boone was real in a sense that he was genuinely honest and upfront in every encounter with others, he does not sugar coat things or beat around the bush, and instead of telling you what you want to hear, he tells you what you need to know. At times though it seems that Boone s raw emotions such as his attitude, assertiveness and arrogance are a bit too real, we are able to see that they are key components in how he establishes his sense of urgency throughout the organization. At the start of the movie, the sense of urgency created by Boone s attitude almost lead the team in the wrong direction, as the players did not respect or understand the way he went about doing things. For example, before the players leave for camp Boone is approached by Bertier about positions on the team, in the midst of the conversation Boone says You take a look at her. Cause once you step on that bus you aint got your mama no more. You got your brothers on the team and you got your daddy. You know who your daddy is, doncha? Gary, if you want to play on this football team, you answer me when I ask you who is your daddy? Statements such as these do not usually sit well with others, many including myself would find this very disrespectful. On the other hand Coach Boone s ability to be real with himself as well as others allows him to express raw emotion and concern that explains his reasoning behind his actions, As shown in the scene after the first game when Yoates challenges Coach Boone s public criticism in regards to Petey, he replies you think you re doing these boys a favor, by taking them aside every time I come down on them...I may be a mean cuss but I m the same mean cuss with everyone on that football field the world does not give a damn how sensitive these kids are...you are crippling them the tough love shown by Coach Boone towards his players expresses a real

Nietzsche Nihilism The 1859 publication of Darwin s On the Origin of Species had dramatic consequences, among them the creation of doubt about God s place in a world where species independently evolve and continually change. Darwin had not merely questioned God; he had shaken one of the core Christian beliefs: that God had created a flawless and unchanging earth. When Darwin s ideas were not scientifically disproven, the basis of Christianity itself was called into question. That questioning continued as scientific discovery advanced. The traditional view and place of God became less and less applicable to modern life, triggering an onset of nihilismin many as the foundations of their lives were chipped away by scientific progress. First, they identify as wrong or sinful certain aspects of human life that Nietzsche thinks are vital (34). For example, this vaue system discourages willing and value creation by claiming all authority in those areas. As a result, these instincts are repressed in humans, who would rather will nothingness than not will, finally resulting in a denial of life, which is seen as unhealthy by Nietzsche (Nietzsche, On the Geneaology of Morals 163). Second, they favor ... the universal rule of one and only one value scheme, blocking efforts by individuals to exercise their natural wills to power by creating their own values (Gooding Williams 35). Out in that desert, the camel sheds his load, and becomes the lion spirit. Unlike the obedient, load bearing camel, the lion asserts his own will and lordship in its own wilderness (Nietzsche, Thus Spake Zarathustra). In order to truly become his own master as he desires, the lion must triumph over the dragon, representative of the God and value system he is deserting, which claims that [a]ll values have already been created, and all created values do I represent (Nietzsche, Thus Spake Zarathustra). Since both lion and dragon claim sole authority over the creation and valuation of all possible values, one must defeat the other:

Between the crosshairs of loveand lust, lies an entity that is commonly seen in many folly love struck youth. Schutzman states the teller, a young woman of about twenty five, felt the lights of her streets go on for the first time (Schutzman 1), evidently describing the emotional impact the robber had on the teller. Figuratively, this statement is an implicit comparison between the lights that had lined her streets and the teller s discovery of love. This statement also foreshadows the creation of a turbulent relationship between the two counterparts, since it depicts a love at first sight moment that conclusively suggests that the folly lovers will base their romance on short term desires rather than true love. In the eleventh paragraph, the robber is seen stating Ah money...you are just like love (Schutzman 1) , evidently proving his lustful adoration towards materialistic facets. Schutzman implies, through this statement, that this is an example of a metaphor, since it is an explicit comparison between money and love. The author uses this metaphor, in order to epitomize the evident unstable romance that is created between the bank robber and the teller. This statement indirectly implies the fact that the relationship between the two counterparts is formed due to their lustful momentary desires. In order

Building trust takes time and effort and requires commanders to work diligently to earn and then keep that trust. This is one reason why battlefield circulation is so important. When commanders and leaders take the time to get to know their Soldiers they build a relationship that helps form a bond of trust.
