Cold War Essay Introduction
Writing an essay on the topic of the Cold War introduction can be a challenging task that
requires careful consideration and extensive research. The Cold War was a complex geopolitical
conflict that spanned several decades, involving the United States and the Soviet Union, along
with their respective allies. Crafting an effective introduction to such a broad and intricate topic
requires a deep understanding of the historical context, key events, and the global implications
of the Cold War.
To begin with, one must delve into the origins of the Cold War, examining the ideological
differences between the capitalist West and the communist East. Exploring the aftermath of
World War II and the power vacuum left by the collapse of Nazi Germany is crucial for
understanding how the tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union escalated. The
introduction should provide a glimpse into the political, economic, and social factors that fueled
the rivalry between these two superpowers.
Furthermore, it is essential to highlight pivotal events and turning points that defined the course
of the Cold War, such as the Truman Doctrine, the Marshall Plan, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
These events shaped the geopolitical landscape and contributed to the development of strategies
and policies on both sides. Crafting a concise yet informative introduction requires a skillful
synthesis of these events to set the stage for the main body of the essay.
Moreover, addressing the global impact of the Cold War is crucial. The ideological struggle
between the superpowers had profound consequences on various regions, leading to proxy wars,
geopolitical realignments, and the arms race. An effective introduction should provide a glimpse
into how the Cold War influenced international relations and shaped the post-World War II world
order.
In conclusion, writing an introduction to a Cold War essay demands a thorough understanding of
the historical context, key events, and global ramifications of this complex period. It requires
careful planning, research, and a skillful synthesis of information to engage the reader and set the
stage for the in-depth exploration of the topic. Crafting a compelling introduction is essential to
capturing the reader's attention and laying the foundation for a comprehensive and insightful
essay.

Summary Of The Film Imperfekt Strangers
The film Imperfekt Strangers revolves around a pseudo Christian cult the Faith
Community that is based in Bloomington, Indiana. In the film, there are two Indiana
University students who are roommates with two members of the cult. This movie
reflects from actual events that happened in the 1970s in Bloomington, Indiana. The
pseudo Christian cult the Local Church that was held in Bloomington was led by
Witness Lee who tried to gain members through college students and others around in
the city ( Are ). Throughout the film, the two roommates who are part of the cult tries
to convince the other two roommates, Steve and Tyler to join the cult. However,
tension builds up with the cult members and the students when they would not
convert and Steve s best friend Richie ends up joining the Christian cult. Furthermore,
Steve and Tyler end up worried and concerned around the other roommates because
their practices of following Christianityare eerie; they become uncomfortable with
the other followers who would also come to the house to preach. Likewise, Steve
and Tyler then confront their roommate Matty that they do not want to partake in the
cult. At the end, the two roommates Harold and Matty leaves Tyler and Steve. Due
to the film being based on true events, Matt Walls character Tyler is deemed to be
the most believable character in the film and convincing that all these events are
naturally occurring on a day to day basis.
At first, Tyler is accepting of his roommates Harold
Holy Spirit Reflection
There has been much through the years and especially this past year that we have
been given the chance to learn and I am really thankful for it all. There have been
many tests, quizzes, exams, and PBL projects that we have had to do. In every
subject there has been many assignments and things that we have had to do. There
have been highlights in every subject that have stood out to me. This year and for
the past years we have worked a lot in every subject and for mostly everyone, our
work shows it, and there has been many good things that we have learned, been
challenged in, been nurtured by the Spirit, and been encouraged in through obedience
to JesusChrist. At ZCS we have a motto and that motto still counts for the bible class.
In bible one of the lessons that stood out to me was the Holy SpiritProject. I felt that
God nurtured me through the Holy Spirit Project because when I was working on
it we had to point out what the Holy Spirit means to us and how we represent Him
in our lives, and that really got me thinking about the Holy Spirit and what He has
done and is doing in my life and how He is moving me every day and that just
really grew me spiritually. I have been challenged in bible when we had the bible
memory passage of 1 Corinthians 13:1 13, not only because it s long and made me
challenged to work harder on it than I usually do on other bible memory but also it
made me think about what it means and how it talks about love and how love is
represented in our
The Farming Of Bones Themes Essay
I knew he considered Joel lucky to no longer be part of the cane life, travay te pou
zo, the farming of bones. Amabelle, The Farming of Bones After reading The
Farming of Bones by Edwidge Danticat, I have concluded that there is a single
underlying theme of the novel. This theme is the exploration of racial prejudice
,and a closer look into the inequality and discrimination against people of color.
Though it seems to be quite broad, it can be broken down into two more specific
themes. One of which is the smothering of a culture, and the other is physical
violence towards those of color. In The Farming of Bones, these themes apply to the
Haitian people in the 1930 s Dominican Republic. The story is presented by a Haitian
worker named Amabelle, who shares firsthand her experience with both themes.
The novel begins with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No details are spared in the gory account of the violence. It begins with rumors, and
when these statements prove to be true, everything becomes twisted. Haitian
citizens try to run, but most are forced into trucks to head to prison, and ultimately,
death. Those who survive are permanently affected, both mentally and physically.
When it comes to the tolerance of the violence, the rules are modified to fit the
actions that need to be done. This is especially so when the person in charge is of
high rank or power. The Generalissimo tries to rationalize his actions by saying,
How can a country be ours if we are in smaller numbers than the outsiders? Those
of us who love out country are taking measures to keep it our own (Danticat, 192) .
Today, this is still true. It seems that no one is ever punished for a wrongful act
when they hold a place of power, though they should be treated just as everyone else
Eugene Ramirez Research Paper
Lindsey Ramirez has little to no tact. Lindsey s eyes are sometimes red. Sometimes
she reeks of cigar smoke. Like Forest Gump said, sometimes she smells like
cigarettes. Lindsey sometimes walks around in public with cigarettes or cigars
lodged between her ear and the side of her head, for the entire world to see.
Sometimes she stinks like a distillery. Sometimes she smells like beer: sometimes
she smells like liquor. It is nothing for Lindsey to pull out a fifth in broad daylight
and say, Let s get drunk. Lindsey has very little stage presence. She often acts as if
she does not care about her surroundings. She curses and she is loud. She turns
ordinary parking lots into movie scenes. She wears her sleeping clothes when she
leaves the house and goes to the grocery store. Lindsey loves attention, even if that
attention is negative. It is hard to involve her in wholesome family functions
because she will turn the best day ever into a most regrettable moment. She always
thinks she is right but everyone knows that she is wrong. Her immature behavior
has left her alienated and avoided like a plague. Lindsey is in love with the coco.
Sometimes her eyes are buck and bouncing. Lindsey proudly proclaims that she sniffs
information, and she will do anything to get her hands on prescription medication. It is

What Is Cosmic Irony In Odysseus
Odysseus fulfills the first criteria of cosmic irony when it becomes clear that a
powerful god, or fate itself, has the ability and desire to manipulate and control
events in his life. Odysseus wants to explore the land of the Cyclops leading him to
get trapped in Polyphemus cave. To escape this alive, he must blind Polyphemus.
After escaping Odysseustaunts the cyclopsleading Polyphemus to curse his trip
home. Since Polyphemus knew that he would be blinded by a man named
Odysseus; All this, he warned me, would come to pass someday that I d be blinded
here at the hands of Odysseus (9. 569 570) Within this quote, it is apparent to the
reader that it was inevitable for Odysseus to go to the land of the Cyclops and blind
Polyphemus because Polyphemus was always told he would encounter Odysseus
one day, leading Odysseus to having his trip cursed by the god Poseidon after he
blinded his son.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The land of the Cyclops wasn t the only place he was brought to by fate and a tad
bit of curiosity; Odysseus goes to Circe s, only to have almost all his men turned to
swine by the devious nymph. Being the hero Odysseus is, he makes the journey to
Circe s castle to save them. Along the way, he meets Hermes, messenger of the
gods, who tells him that the only way to save his comrades is too not fall for Circe s
spell, causing her to be amazed by his greatness; You must be Odysseus, man of
twists and turns (10.366). Little did Odysseus know, Circe already knew of his
arrival; Hermes the giant killer, god of golden wand, he always said you d come,

What Deck Should I Use? Before you start playing a real game you are forced to
choose your decks. You have eight slots to fill with unique cards. When you start
building your deck keep in mind you don t want the average over 4.0 elixir. This
leaves you at a disadvantage because your cards will be too expensive so you will
be vulnerable to decks that constantly rush you. You will also want a tank 1 card.
Tank cards includes, Giant (rare), Giant Skeleton (epic), P.E.K.K.A (epic), Lava
Hound (legendary), Golem (rare), and Royale Giant (common). Keep in mind you
will unlock these cards at different times so it will be best to use the giant at first.
After you have this tank you should support it with a support card. This means to
place the card behind the tank so the archer tower and the opponent s troops will hit
the tank while your support units hit the tower and the opponent s units. Some good
choices to fill this role would be,
What Does When Love Fail Essay
When Love Fail
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1
Corinthians 13:4
Love unites people. It is a dream come true for many women to find love, get married
and have a family of their own. It is certain that many achieve that goal by marrying
their love of their life, while others have the misfortune of marrying a ceasing
fantasy. In every relationship there is a spark at the beginning, they only see how
beautiful the rose is, but when they find the thorns, in some relationships, the beauty
of the rose is just not enough, as at the same time, others accept the rose how it is.
The disadvantage of marrying someone that not completely accepts you, it s
something that cannot be hide you cannot live with someone that could let go.
Correspondingly, I once overheard a conversation of women talking to her ex

The answer is simple. I Can t. I can t control what my future husband is going to do
or how he is going to act or reactor even how i m going to feel. This is difficult and
scary for a marriage, being sure you can be with that someone forever. But then, that
is love. Love is supposed to be perfect. Perfect love can restore broken hearts.
Perfect love can cut through the walls. Perfect love can make you put the other

Examples Of Figurative Language In The Gift Of The Magi
Today s generation has lost the appreciation for the morals that are the roots of
stories. Author O. Henry attempts to bring back that appreciation in his short story,
The gift of the Magi.
He uses irony, figurative language, and characterization to exhibit self sacrificial
love.Set in the life of a young couple, the story begins with the couple s plight of
christmas being the next day, and neither of them have sufficient money to buy the
gifts they think their significant other deserves. With little time, and immeasurable
love, the two struggle to find the perfect gift even if that means sacrificing the things
most precious to them. The couple s willingness to sacrifice for their spouse shows
true love in its purest form.

O. Henry creates Jim and Della so distinctively that he must have seen a couple so
in love with each other that it seemed like a fairy tale to watch them. The narrator
tells most of the story from Della s perspective. She s described as young,
affectionate, selfless, and somewhat hysterical, requiring Jim to comfort her when
she s upset. 3 She cares deeply for Jim, and for finding him this amazing present
she believes he deserves. Her most prized possession at the beginning of the story
is her lustrous hair, but in her selflessness, she has all of her hair chopped off and
sells it in order to buy a proper watch chain for Jim. This single act alone could be
grounds enough to proves her love for Jim, and her willingness to sacrifice for
him. Jim, the lord of the flat, is only twenty two years old and is already heavily
burdened by the need to support his family on a low salary. Despite this burden,
however, he is described as content, quiet, and good natured. 3 He loves his wife
very much, and because of that he sells his prized watch, a family heirloom, passed
down from his grandfather, in order to buy fancy combs for Della s beautiful hair
that she had been eyeing as they shopped one afternoon. Della seems to turn from a
whiny young lady at the beginning of the short story, to a determined and willful

Crime Recidivism And Its Effects On Society
It is estimated that 1% of the population is psychopathic and yet, they commit more
than 50% of serious crimes and their crime recidivism is three times more likely
than other criminals (how to create a psychopath). It is irrefutable that despite the
fact that psychopaths do not comprise much of the population, they are dangerous
and menacing to society. Their crimes are callous and gruesome, and often have a
profound impact on society as psychopaths prey on as many people as they can,
particularly vulnerable people, until they satisfy their needs. They cannot seem to
distinguish between moral and conventional transgressions. To them, everything is
conventional. They have little or no morality due to the fact that their frontal lobe
is malfunctioning and fails to restrain them from harming someone or committing a
crime. Justice provides a security blanket for all members of society. They desire
that sense of safety and knowledge that the world is in order. Psychopaths walk
among us and some are dangerous which causes a dilemma for society whether to
lock them up and achieve justice for society or allow them to roam freely to achieve
justice for psychopaths as a minority. Psychopaths continue to pose a threat to society
primarily due to the fact that they suffer from a severe personality disorder that may
cause them to act on their malicious whims at any time. Psychopaths seem less
threatening to society when they are out of sight and locked away. Psychopathyis one

Market Failure is Becoming Commonplace in Our Economy
Market Failure in Economics Market failures have become a common
phenomenon and now that the world has opened up things are much faster paced
and things happen much quickly then how they used to happen in the past. It is
the over dependency of the nations on one another that have brought these
economic crisis on one another and the last century was full of such instances.
There was no winner or loser in such a case and in the end it was the common man
who lost a lot. These are the happenings, which suggested that it was about time
checks and balances were put in place and in the end it was necessary that such
things could be avoided for good for the betterment of the people. The crash of
1929 started a recession that lasted for almost a decade and it engulfed the entire
world in the problem. Had the people been able to predict it, it would have been
avoided but that was not the case and the crisis was so massive that prices shot up
like anything and the jobs were slashed. At the end of the day it was very costly and
the entire world economycollapsed. It showed how vulnerable can the free market
economy be. It also showed how dreadful it can be if the market failure and the
collapse of an economy is not cushioned in the nick of time to reduce the potential
damage that can be caused. The crash on Monday 22nd October 1929 in New York
Stock Exchangewas probably the biggest dilemma of economic nature faced by the
world. It was a problem that engulfed the entire world causing
Essay on Emerson And Thoreau
amp;#8220;Dance to the beat of your own drummer: ; A piece of advice that I have
been told my whole life, and have tried my hardest to follow. The words were taken
from Thoreau amp;#8217;s quote, amp;#8220;If a man does not keep pace with his
companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. ;
Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreauchanged our lives. How? Well, the
answer is not so simple as the statement. To understand fully how they affected our
lives, we have to understand the philosophy of Emerson and Thoreau, and the
relationship between the two. So let amp;#8217;s begin with the relationship between
Emerson and Thoreau.

Many people claim that Thoreau amp;#8217;s ideas were simply taken from
Emerson amp;#8217;s, in fact, some critics call Thoreau Emerson amp;#8217;s miror.
And although their philosophies greatly reflected one another, they differed in many
ways as well.
Emerson amp;#8217;s writing focused on nonconformity and individuality. In his
essay quot;Self Reliance, quot; he wrote, quot;Nothing is at last sacred but the
integrity of your own mind, quot; and, quot;Whoso would be a man, must be a
nonconformist. quot;
Emerson writings were also more focused on the self; philosophy of humanism and
Independence from society are all things that Emerson wrote on frequently. Thoreau,
while focusing on matters of the self in many of his essays, tended to have more of a
political overtone to his writing.
In amp;#8220;Civil Disobedience ;, Thoreau amp;#8217;s most famous social
protest, He explains that it is our civil right to disagree with laws. He believed that
people must be free to act according to their own idea of right and wrong, without
government interference. In quot;Civil Disobedience quot;, he said that people
should refuse to obey any law they believe is unjust. Thoreau practiced this type of
passive resistance when, in 1846, he refused to pay poll taxes. He did so to express
his opposition to the Mexican War. Thoreau spent one night in jail for his refusal.

Reflective Essay On The Father Of God
As tears fell from my eyes and onto the light blue carpet, I heard words I never
thought I would hear. One Sunday about three years ago, our assistant pastor
preached a message, and after that, he announced that our pastor was stepping down.
Because it was such a close knit church, we quickly learned that our pastor had
committed adultery with one of my best friends mother. My familywas extremely
upset and the whole church was distraught when we heard the news. I had no idea
what to think. This man, whom I trusted, had baptized me and answered any
questions I had. My family adored our pastor because he was such a great teacher of
the Bible. I could not fathom how my pastor, a man of God, could be capable of a sin
like this. After church that day, my family went out to eat. At the restaurant, my
father mentioned that he wanted to try out a different church. This idea my father
posed to my family was so foreign to me. This church family was all I had ever
known since I was four years old. I continuously asked God: after eleven years,
why did my family have to be uprooted. I could not understand how something like
this could happen. The Bible says in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for
the good of those who love God, but I did not understand how anything good could
possibly come from my situation. My brother and my father were excited to visit
new churches, but my feelings were the opposite. Despite my feelings, I decided I
was going to be optimistic and give

Martin Buber was a leader of the Zionist movement which is the belief that the only
solution to the growing anti Semitism in Europe was for there to be an independent
Jewish State. The events of World War 2 made the need for a Jewish State that much
greater. The original plan in 1947 was to divide the land equally between both
parties, but only the Jewsagreed to the plan. In 1917, the Balfour Declaration
promised a Jewish State in what was at the time Palestine. Contradicting a previous
declaration that the British made that promised the land to the Arabs. On May 14,

Cataphatic Meditation
Meditation is a mental exercise used to reach a heightened level of spiritual and
mental awareness thru repeating one s mantra and breath. Although the practice
sounds simple in itself and doesn t sound like there would be much room for an
expansion and growth as a practice, it has still managed to grow into an umbrella
term with a rich history and a wide verity of different meditationthat people practice.
Some even date back before the Buddhist monks in early 2,500 B.C. People have
been practicing meditation for years from the Catholic monasteries, to the Desert

Thomas Jefferson Accomplishments
The outcomes of the Revolutionary war paved the way towards an expansion of
territory sought out to respect civil liberties by outlawing slavery , reforming the
education platform and is considered one of the most important legislative acts of
the confederation congress. Thomas Jefferson was a key player as he created a
vision with an empire based on principles novel at the time. On July 13, 1787 the
Northwest Ordinancecame into place, a new legislation which expanded the original
13 states westward not only acquiring land, but provided a framework for
educational organization and political incorporation in the new territories. All it took
was a proposition, an idea by a Virginia delegate by the name of Thomas Jefferson.
Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Shadwell, Virginia into a wealthy
and distinguished family. Jefferson served his country for over five decades, he was
a public official, philosopher, historian and even a plantation owner. His interests in
law led him to serve the local government as a magistrate, county lieutenant and as a
member of the House of Burgesses. Some of Thomas Jefferson s major
accomplishments and contributions include , but are not limited to the Louisiana
Purchase in 1803 , his support towards the Lewis and Clark Expedition, abolishing,
the slave trade, his views on what is now called the Northwest Ordinance and of
course, his presidency.
Throughout his lifetime, it is more than clear that he has created a legacy not only for

Cost: when we are looking at the cost of the construction project we have to look
through and have to consider all the stages of the design and the construction project
this is part of the specification. It is very important to have the cost estimator

the decisions made by the project construction team throughout the integrated the

Quality standard and legislation: quality is the part of the contractor manager to
ensure that products and service comply with requirements. It is a work method that
facilitates the measurement of the quality characteristics of a unit, compares them
with the established standards, the analyses the differences between the results

differences. The legislation is the rules that are set on the construction project. Rules
apply to projects in parts to prevent clients from avoiding the requirements of the
regulations by simply dividing projects up.

History Vs. Hollywood Essay
Film makers use many historical events to spark up and idea for a movie. One
historical event that is commonly used is war. One advantage a film maker has when
using war as a movie plot is that there is already a lot of drama in war. This may
seem like a good advantage for the film maker, however focusing on all of the drama
of warleaves much of the actual info. When watching a war movie, you may feel
like you have an understanding about the war, but when you really compare a war
movie to an actual war you find that there is a lot of factual information left out. One
may ask why would directors and filmmakers leave out the facts of war and focus on
the drama? After reading The Faces of Battle by John Keegan and reviewing war

I read the section about the battles that took place during WWII. It brought to my
minds that in real life. There are more important things during a war than finding a
private Ryan. War is a huge event and the little things like finding a person to keep
the family name going is too small to include in war history. This is what separates
the movies from the real life. Another difference is they don t show the actual
planning it takes to start an attack or the inelegance that is needed to set up the
perfect defense barrier to prevent the advancement of the enemy soldiers. A real
battle can last days, weeks, months, or years, compared to movie war that lasts not
even a day and has one guy or one platoon take on the entire other side. The
casualties of real war is tremendous, rather than movies where you see almost the
same characters in the whole movie accomplishing some of the most intense tasks
with only one or two dying. Also, in movie war you don t see the other side s
horror. You think all the opponents are bad horrible people that deserve to die,
when they are just soldiers doing their job and the only reason we are fighting them
is because of a bad leader or government. So in the movies every enemy deserves to
die and should be shown no mercy, but the actual thing about that is that the enemy is
just like any other soldier. And furthermore when the good guys lose a battle in a
Essay On Plastic Surgery
When I was ten years old, I was told I had to get plastic surgery. I was terrified and
immediately burst into tears. I didn t get upset because I was scared, but rather I
thought that undergoing plastic surgery meant the doctor was going to cut a piece
of my body out and replace it with plastic. I thought I was going to be part Barbie. I
eventually came to terms with this crazy idea of mine only to learn plastic surgerywas
nothing like that. This is where my interest in becoming a physicianbegan. Prior to
this, I had not had much exposure to healthcare, but that all changed very quickly.
I was allergic to the post surgical medication and it caused me to break out. Thus, I
spent many nights in the emergency department and a lot more time in my doctors
offices than I would have liked to at that age. By the time I was twelve I had
already been a patient of a plastic surgeon, dermatologist, pediatrician,
endocrinologist, and I was about to become the patient of an oncologist. Routine
pre surgical blood work came back abnormal and due to my family history, I was
immediately sent to an oncologist. The reason for my abnormal results that day
was never found out, but I am very fortunate I had nothing wrong with me. At this
point, I realized that when I grew up I wanted to be a physician. I wanted to be the
person that helped so many others like myself. I felt, at the age of 13, that I owed
my health to these physicians and that it was my duty to give back.
While in college, I
The Musuo Of Chin Matrilineal Kinship
The Musuo of China: Matrilineal Kinship The practice of matrilineal kinship is
considered a myth by some cultures, but it is indeed very real for the Musuo of
China. Matrilineality is the practice of linear descent through the ancestry of females.
Many Western civilizations have a misconception of what is considered normal on a
global scale, but many practices do, in fact, differ widely between different cultures.
To illustrate this, the Musuo s traditions and values in regards to marriageand family
are based solely on matrilineal kinship, while America s melting pot ideation
encourages unilineal descent, in which the ancestry line can be traced to the wife and
/or the husband. In the paper I will discuss the cultural nature of the Musuo, and the
way that marriage and family norms in Musuo differ from the typical American
ideation of family. One indication that Musuo traditions differ from the American
culture in terms of marriage is the lack of a formal union between wife and husband,
as well as the American idea of father and child. According their article Land of the
Walking Marriage (2000), Lu Yuan and Sam Mitchell explain that Musuo fathers do
not raise their own children, but instead cater to their sister s children s needs.
American cultural norms include the belief that blood relatives have a biological
attachment to each other, which makes this type of kinship unacceptable to many
conservative minded Americans. Moreover, the dynamics of marital behavioral

Executive Summary
Kota Fibres is a single nylon manufacturing plant in Kota India managed and owed by
Ms. Pundir. The company produces synthetic fiber yarns that are used to make
colorful cloth used in creating saris. The need for saris is very seasonal and as such
the demand for synthetic fibers mirrors this seasonality. Because of these peak
seasons, the need for various financial structures throughout the year is present.

Finally yarn manufacturers supply credit to their textile mills. It is important to note
that the yarn manufacturers like Kota Fibres do not receive any credit from their
suppliers. It is within this hierarchy structure that Kota Fibres operates and as a result
Kota Fibres should remain mindful of the industry as a whole because they rely
heavily on the downstream activities.
The memo from the transportation manager provides a more positive outlook on
Kota Fibres future operations. The memo details that the new road has drastically
improved supply shipments. This thereby reduces the raw inventory requirement from
60 days to just 30. This decreases the amount of inventory costs and increases the
amount of cash on hand that the firm will have.
Internal Analysis
Kota Fibres liquidity issues are creating problems when paying the excise tax needed
in order to move their product. In addition to the cash shortages, Kota Fibres is not
paying creditors on time or in the correct amounts this is creating a huge financial
strain on the organization and this issue needs to be addressed.
Ms. Pundir is currently paying high dividends to the companies stakeholders; this is a
huge concern to the company s overall profitability. Currently more emphasis is being
placed on the payment of dividends than the payment to creditors.
Currently the organization has uneven levels of production. This creates uneven
demand for labour and as a result layoffs
Little Polish Boy Analysis
Literature is the foundation of our beliefs, cultures and traditions. It is why as human
beings we thrive in the world, learning from the past through stories and illustrations
that create emotion, desire and inspiration. It was literature that started Adolf Hitler
s reign, through the simplicity of words. When World War 2 began, literature was a
basis of hope, it would encompass emotion and for many their last mark on the
world. Little Polish Boy, (1969), written by Peter Fischl, a survivor of the Holocaust,
explores the war through a child s perception. The poem highlights the naГЇve nature
of children, witnessing an act of inhumane proportions, their voices suddenly
neglected and powerless. In comparison, the Boy in The Striped Pyjamas, a novel
written by John Boyne in 2006 demonstrates children s willingness to defy an
ingrained war culture due to the naivety of their actions and understanding. Little
Polish Boy is a poem that highlights the impacts of war on children. It explores the
war through the perspective of an unnamed child, symbolising the extent to which
civilians were involved in the war, reiterating the helplessness of the Jewish
prisoners. The poem uses hyperboles and personification such as the world who said
nothing to convey Fischl s frustration and sorrow over the atrocities and inhumanity
of the enemy and the world who stood and watched. Fischl uses repetition such as
the little polish boy to allow the audience to create an instilled idea of the
Non-Traditional Gender Roles Still Relevant Today
Men fix the car and redo the roof, while the women clean the house and watch the
kids. Perhaps it is the other way around? Before, gender roles were passed on
through generations, but recently things have been changing. Traditional gender
roles of men and women are not relevant in today s society, due to changing times as
seen through non traditional families, more women pursuing higher education, and
families being more open minded. During this day and age, non traditional families
have become more common, breaking traditional roles of families. With more
families, being those with same sex marriages; two moms or two dads. Families are
becoming less and less traditional. Same sex marriages tend to break traditional roles

Notorious Film Analysis
The first scene of the film Notorious takes place in a Court. This opening can make
the audience fall into the story immediately. The leading actress s name is Alicia
Huberman, who was represented by Ingrid Bergman. Her father is an agent, and
he gets involves in some terrible issues so that he is judged in the Court. What s
worse, her father s prison sentence leaves her skeptical of others, and Alicia is very
eager to have a new companion in her life. The camera first sets on reporters which

First of all, I like the scene that Alicia and Devlin hang out after the party. To my
surprise, Alicia is the one who asking for a ride alone after they finishing drinking.
And it is also very surprise me that Alicia just uses the same cup to drink alcohol
after Devlin using it because females are normally less initiative in the real life.
There is also an action made by Devlin that he accidentally hugs Alicia from her
back while he ties a cloth to her, and Alicia does not express any uncomfortable
feelings which against Devlin s action. And it is also a clue that Alicia and Devlin
will have a romantic relationship in the film. The other things in the film caught
my eye is the first kiss between Alicia and Devlin. After they have some drink, they
begin to talk about something deep in their life. After they hiking to the top of the
mountain, Devlin takes his first step to kiss Alicia, which is a very romantic scene.
Most importantly, they have their kiss in a hotel, and the second kiss is even
harder than the first one, which show that they are fall in love with each other
deeply. There is no doubt that their love is true love because they can fall in love
with each other with heart and soul at this tough time. This scene can make the
audiences touched. All in all, this is a very great film. I was impressive by the love
between Alicia and Devlin in the film, which is very touching. And the director,
The Role Of A Baker In The Middle Ages
The overall role of a baker in the Middle Ages helped the manor survive. One of the
most common and basic types of bread to everyone in the feudal hierarchy was the
pain de manyne. This was a table loaf, and could be described as round bread that
was eaten plain. The two main types of bread most frequently made in medieval
bakeries, were called table breadand trenchers. Usually, the size of a trencher was a
half a foot long, by four fingers, by four fingers. these pretty small loaves would be
turned over and over repeatedly in the oven until hard. When dealing with a
trencher, staleness was a benefit , therefore, in order to have the best dinner party, a
menagier would tell his wife to get four day old trencher bread from his baker....

Although the baker supplied everyone in the system bread, the specific type
differed among classes. White bread in this time was scarce, thus the whiteness of
the bread made from wheat flour became a sign for times of plenty and a high social
class. The more common bread, however was black bread, made with whatever
grains that could be found ground up. The ingredients usually ended up being dark
ryes and whole grain varieties. Peasants therefore became correlated with black bread
(Zieg). Due to what the fact that they give bread to everyone in the manor, they
receive services in return. These services included military protection and land.

Pig Hunts In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
The classic book Lord of the Flies written by William Golding is a story of a group of
schoolboys being stranded on a tropical island during World War II. The three main
boys are Jack, Ralph, and Piggy, but there are other boys with them on the island.
As the book progresses, our group of protagonists slowly lose their morality and
become wild savages. In the story there are three specific pighunts the group has that
canonize their steps to insanity. On the first hunt, three boys come across a piglet
caught in the vines. The boys attempt to killit, but the piglet escapes. During the
second hunt, a larger group of boys run into a wild boar, which also escapes. On the
third hunt, the groups hunters find a sow feeding her piglets. The boys slaughter
the pig and put its head on a pike. Ultimately, the piglet, boar, and sow hunt slowly
show the boy s madness progress. This helps to portray Golding s theme that there is
a darkness in every man s heart.
The first hunt occurs soon after the boys are stranded on the island. Jack, Simon,
and Ralph are exploring the island when they find a piglet caught in the vines. Since
it is only their first day, the boys are still new to the island. They haven t spent
enough time for their minds to be affected. This shows in three main occasions. First,
the boys do want some sort of government and order. They quickly establish Ralph as
leader through a vote. The group also quickly establishes the conch, a shell they
found on the island that can

Cohabitation In The United States
Tradition gives way to the new era. Saying I do before saying, We found our new
home, is a thing of the past. Today, more and more couples are choosing
cohabitation over marriage. According to the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention, between the year of 2006 and 2010, 48% of women ranging from age
15 to 44 years of age first lived with a man to whom they were not married
(Grinberg). When compared to the numbers from 1995, which was 34% percent, the
change in trend becomes obvious (Grinberg). There are many reasons why marriageis
no longer the next big step for America s unwedded couples. Before today s couples
decide to tie the knot, many feel that they must be financial stable (Rettner). For those
couples who desire to wait to marry until they can afford their dream weddings but
still wish to move forward in their relationships, cohabitationis the best solution.
Cohabitation is a convenient solution for these couples because it allows the couple
to split the costs of living, which allows them to save for their wedding. A friend of

Health Statistics, the number of couples who opted for cohabitation in response to
unplanned pregnancy surpassed that of those who chose to have a shot gun wedding
during the last decade (Yen). Couples no longer feel as though they must be married

The Benefits And Disadvantages Of An Apartment House
Every newly married couple should dream of a happy and comfortable life. Most
of them have made plans for the future of the family. Among the things that should
be in their planning is the selection of a place of residence. Residence is the place
where a person lives most of the time. A residence may be eligible for certain tax
breaks. For example, one may be able to write off the interest on a mortgage on a
primary residence. Various rules exist to determine what constitutes one s residence
for tax purposes. (Farlex, 2012). Having a comfortable home is a dream for every
newly married couple. Even university students are also indirectly involved with
finding homes to stay despite not completing their studies. For example, the fact that

started their career or moved to a new place. It is important to take into
considerations all the advantages and disadvantages in choosing the type of
accommodation. First of all, apartment is located in a desirable city location,
whereas the single homeowner houses are more expensive. It can be beneficial for
workers to walk for work and gain a great city s nightlife view. Other than that, the
great things about apartment is their amenities such as gymnasium, swimming
pool and tennis court. Not all the resident would be afford to pay the fee if they go
to other outside gym or swimming pool. So, it automatically save their cost and
time. In addition, it is important to think about the security when moving into a
new property. The huge advantage of living in apartment is there are several
layers of added security that have a very complex procedure. There is a code that
prepared for the resident and a lot of CCTV cameras around the places. The security
in a flat is much less than apartment which they only have security guards to guard
the buildings. Lastly, there usually less cost when living in a flat. The owner of the
complex is responsible in managing the maintenance of the house. The rent of an

Management Accounting Statement
Evaluate the following statement: Managers should not focus on the current stock
value because doing so will lead to an overemphasis on short term profits at the
expense of long term profits. The current stock value reflects the risk, timing, and
magnitude of all future cash flows, both short term and long term. Management
continuously has economic incentive to increase share value for two reasons. First,
managerial compensation, particularly at the top, is usually tied to financial
performance in general and often to share value in particular. For example, managers
are frequently given the option to buy stockat a bargain price. The more the stock is
worth, the more valuable is this option.
The second incentive managers have relates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This could most certainly be used as an example where many executives used
unethical/illegal behavior to further the company. This caused many of Enron s

3. Critics have charged that compensation to top managers in the United States is
simply too high and should be cut back. For example, focusing on large
corporations, Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, earned about $64.9 million
in 2013. Are such amounts excessive? In answering, it might be helpful to recognize
that superstar athletes such as LeBron James, top entertainers like Tom Hanks and
Oprah Winfrey, and many others at the top of their respective fields earn at least as
much, if not a great deal more.
Compensation to high profile names in the United States are indeed extremely high.
Although these high profile managers, entertainers, and athletes work hard for their
money that does not make them harder workers than an average American trying to
support their families. However, in this day in age we are a population of people
who like to be entertained and we are the ones supporting these celebrities. As long as
we keep attending sporting events, buying merchandise, and pouring our money into

How Is Tipping A Social Norm
Every country has a culture that is unique to that area, and in that culture are
different things that are considered normal. There are certain rules to obey and
norms that are just expected to be followed by observing other people. Going to a
different country can be shocking because social norms in one area may be
completely different from the social norms of another area, leaving the visitor feeling
confused and out of their comfort zone. One example of a social normin the United
Statesis leaving a tip after eating at a restaurant, usually around fifteen percent, but
in some countries tipping is not expected and can even be offensive. Tipping is said
to have originated in the taverns of eighteenth century England because drinkers
would give money to their waiter so they would in turn provide them with good
service. This then became a tradition in America, but it is not embraced by all. Many
people find it unnecessary to tip if they receive poor service, but it is still a widely
accepted social norm throughout the country.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Japan, tipping is considered offensive because it is a display of wealth and
showing pity. A visitor leaving a tip in Japan may think they are following a norm,
but they are actually insulting someone. In Malaysia, a tip is not expected but if one
chooses to leave a tip it is very much appreciated. Some countries, such as
Switzerland, include a service charge in the bill so tipping is not necessary. Even
though tipping in the United States must be done, most other countries find it
abnormal, and do not expect anything after providing a
Cloud Factory Monologue
At least it seemed that way at the time. As we climbed down that endless stairway,
we left all that unearthly heat and odor behind. It got cooler and darker, and also
more silent as they city noses faded away. At the same time, we began to become
aware, with an excitement worthy of the explorers whose names I invoked at the
start of this journey, that the strange territory we had discovered was inhabited.
There were houses down here, streets, a ballfield. From the heights of the stairs it
all looked very small and idealized: doll houses, toy streets, a baseball diamond of
green cellophane and modeling clay. We could even see some tiny figures we were
eventually able to identify as the native children, children not too different, perhaps

We even learned to brave the bus, and one day rode it as far as Kennywood Park to
encounter that mythic beast, the Thunderbolt. Many years later, I was to evoke
that lost neighborhood of Junction Hollow, that stairway and the impenetrable
factory that guarded its uppermost landing in my first novel, The Mysteries of
Pittsburgh. And of all the questions that have been put to me, over the years,
regarding that book, one of the most frequent, from people who don t know
Pittsburgh, and even from some who do, has been, So, the Cloud Factory, the Lost
Neighborhood. Does that stuff really exist or did you make it all up? I m usually
quick to reply, without thinking much about the question, Yes. It s all real.
Sometimes I explain that the term Cloud Factory refers to what is actually a
marvelous piece of antique steam machinery known as the Bellefield Boiler Plant
(it s just right over there, somewhere, and probably lighting this hall right now). I
explain that that term did not even originate with me, but was in general, if not
common use among Pitt and CMU students for years before I started college here.
But what I ve come to realize, looking back over the afternoon and indeed the whole
of my history and even prehistory in Pittsburgh, is that this is the place where things
began to happen to me, where I began to see things that sounded as if I must have
invented them, when in fact they were real, visible, and
Allied Counter Invasion In WWII
Allied Counter Invasion in WWII
On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany began what would be later known as World
War Two. After the Axis invasion in China and in parts of Europe during World
War Two, the Allies began to push back. One way the Allies pushed the Axis back
was the Allies were going through Africa to the boot toe of Italy to capture Italy.
Another way the Allies fought back began on D Day when America and Britain
pushed their way into France from Britain and at the same time, the USSR had been
fighting the Nazis and began to take back their land pushing toward Germany. The

The Americans began to regain control of Japanese controlled islands. One group of
soldiers went south by Australia and began to push up. Another group began to push
east, toward Japan. Then, President Franklin Roosevelt died in office, leaving Vice
President Harry Truman to decide how to make Japan surrender. Truman then met
with the Allied leaders and sent a message to Japan asking them if they wanted to
surrender or face utter destruction. The Japanese decided not to surrender and
America dropped the first two nuclear bombs on Japan. The Japanese then
surrendered, bringing the second World War to a close.
The Allied powers in World War Two had a great problem on their hands. They had
to stop the Axis powers from taking over more of the world. The Allies had four
different fronts to attack the three main Axis countries and they finally overthrew all
three. Even with the war over, the effects and the advancing Cold War were far from
over.

The Modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Essay
Introduction
The modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was established by the King Abdulaziz bin
Abdelrahman Al Saud in 1932 (Al Turaiqi, 2008; Albassam, 2011; BTI, 2012;
Hamzawy, 2006; Peterson, 1984; UN, 2004). Saudi is a big country with 13
provinces (mintaqah) and 1,600, 000 km2 (Albassam, 2011; UN, 2004). Saudi has
the largest reserves of oil in the world (UN, 2004). The political system in Saudi is

life administration matters are managed by promulgate regulations (Matthes, et al.,

compiled first during the days of King Fahd in 1992 (Al Turaiqi, 2008; Albassam,

written and clear laws that are necessary to build a modern country. Political System
of Saudi Arabia consists of judicial authority, executive authority and
Organizational authority (Hamzawy, 2006; Matthes, et al., 2007). Traditionally,
the king has the executive and legislative authorities; this means that the king has

The king s power is controlled by Islamic law, seeking consensus among royal

Impact Of The Iron Curtain Speech
Winston Churchill s Speech The Iron Curtain and its impact on the Cold War.

Winston Churchill, the former Prime Minster of the United Kingdom gave his
famous speech at Westminster College on the 5th of March, 1946. His speech may
be regarded as the most important speech Churchill has ever delivered. Its passage on
the Iron Curtain had many impacts on the Western power. Some Russian historians
date back the beginning of the Cold War to this Speech.

In his speech, Churchill stood up against Stalin, and thought of it as division between

An Iron Curtain .
Churchill then began by listing the threats of communism in Western Europe; he
spoke of communist fifth columns in whom he described in his speech as Communist
fifth columns are established and work in complete unity and absolute obedience to
the directions they receive from the Communist center.
He then makes a statement that now war can find any nation with the threat of

Customer Service At The Cable Industry
Customer Service In our extensive research on Time Warner Cable, we found out that
Time Warner is one of the biggest names in the cable industry. On the other hand they
are know to have notoriously bad customer service which in turn limits the amount of
customers they bring in and increases the amount of customers that cancel their
service. To deal with these problems we have come up with multiple marketing
recommendations. In order to get rid of the reputation of bad service Time Warnerhas
to advertise their new and improved customer service so that people will want to buy
from Time Warner Cable. One way to start improving customer service is to offer
online survey so that the customers know that their opinion is whats most
important to Time Warner Cable. The survey will not just ask if their problems
were solved or if the representative was good. It will ask in depth questions about
what the customer thought about that particular representative. They also can give
follow up surveys a few weeks after a phone call. These surveys will be there to see
if the problem that the customer experienced is arising again and to make sure that
there are no new problems. These surveys show that Time Warner Cable truly does
care for the wellbeing of their customers. Along with surveys Time Warner Cable
can also offer holiday specialties such as reduced prices for the holiday season. They
can market this by saying that they understand that a lot of money is being spent on
Snow Goose Overpopulation
The Overpopulation of the Snow Goose in North America
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore available research on the overpopulation of the
Snow Goose on the North American continent. The snow goose has been rising in
population since the middle of the century and has been escalating so much it is
destroying their natural habitat. Wildlife managers have just recently begun to
implement strategies to combat this problem. Mainly through the use of hunters the
managers are trying to curb the population growth.
Introduction
There are three main species of Snow Goose of primary concern. The Lesser Snow
Goose (LSGO) is the must abundant and at the same time most troublesome. Ross
Goose (ROGO) is very similar to the Lesser ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hunting of the Greater Snow Goose was banned in the us from 1931 75 (Abraham
and Jeffries 1998). Hunting was not allowed to promote population numbers, and
once started in 1975 did not have a high harvest. The LSGO and ROGO starting in
the middle of the 60 s and continually have extended their nesting range south into
less extreme climate (Abraham and Jeffries 1998). It has also been suggested that
since birds are now living longer the older adults are now leading the less wary
young to safer sites and out of hunter s range (Ingstrup 1998). Ingstrup also suggests
that the artic may be warming and as Abraham and Jeffries cited there has been
shown a correlation between the snow melt and survival of nesting birds and their
young. According to Hodge the annual kill by hunters in 1970 neared 40% but in
1994 the rate had dropped to less than 8%. Thus allowing a great deal of the adult
population to return to nesting sites in the spring.
Impact on habitat
The snow geese still nest in a primarily salt marsh environment. The geese have a
detrimental feeding behavior in which they pull up the marsh grass by the roots.
This behavior is know as grubbing and when done in mass quantities can destroy
whole marshes for decades. A project known as the Hudson Bay Project: Ecosystem

Reflection On Acuity As An English II Predictor
Reflection 27: Acuity as an English II Predictor Methods Linear regression allows
researchers to analyze cause and effect or predictive relationships among variables
(Creighton, 2007). For this assignment, I set out to conduct a regression analysis in
hopes of answering two questions: (1) is there a relationship between student scores
on Acuity, our school wide interim testing program, and their performance on the
English II state assessment?, and (2) if the relationship is significant, can Acuity
results be used to predict student performance on the state test? To conduct this
analysis I used the 2015 Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and
Careers (PARCC) English II assessment results as well as the Acuity data from the
first semester screener which was given in December 2014. This test was the last
comprehensive Acuity exam given to English II students during the 2014 2015
school year (a PARCC issued practice test was used during third nine weeks exams).
My student sample included all students who had both a December Acuity score in
the Acuity online system and a Spring 2015 PARCC score in School Status, the
school s database for teacher and student information. With these requirements, the
total sample size included 64 students. To run my statistical analysis, I created a
Google Sheet document with three columns including the student name (1), their
percent correct on the December 2014 Acuity Diagnostic test (2), and their scale
score for the Spring
The Don ts of Online Dating

Racial Leadership And The African American Political...
Throughout the history of United States we have had different views of racial
leadership in Afro American political thought from W.E.B Du Bois to Booker T.
Washington to Marcus Garvey who sought to lead African Americans from the
oppression they face. All three of these historical figures had different views on
racial leadership and politics as well as the vision and direction that racial
emancipation should take. W.E.B Du Bois argued that African Americans should
political, economic, and social freedom and advancement. Booker T. Washington was
more conservative in his approach in that African Americans should first and
foremost focus on economically advancing themselves first in order to seek equality
in other areas. Marcus Garvey had a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good example of part of the current civil rights concept is that fight for reparations
with arguments for it being that it will encourage innovation, creation, and
development of small business (Muhammad 4). As we can see the civil rights
concept of racial leadership is largely shaped by class and economic politics. The
impact of the civil rights concept towards racial liberation has been well documented
throughout U.S history due to its importance. Booker T. Washington had a different
concept of the type of liberation African Americans should seek that can be
considered fairly different from other concepts of racial leadership in that he believed
in economic autonomy being the best path towards racial emancipation. Washington
he was born into slavery and he didn t hold whites in contempt. On the contrary he
believed that because of slavery African Americans were in a stronger and more
hopeful condition, materially, intellectually, morally, and religiously (Washington 8)
than other black people around the world. Washington was a strong proponent of
industrial education for African Americans and thought they should learn skills and
trades and work hard instead of pushing for civil rights right away. Washington

The curve is generally used as the profile of gear teeth. The top land is the top
surface of the tooth, and the bottom land is the surface of the gear between the
fillets of adjacent teeth. The lead is the distance a helical gear or worm would
thread along its axis one revolution of it were free to move axially. The length of
action is the distance on an involute line of action through which the point of
contact moves during the action of the tooth profile. The line of action on the
other hand is the path of contact in involute gears. It is a straight line passing
through the pitch point and the tangent to the base circles. The module is the ratio
of pitch diameter in millimeter to the number of teeth. In English module, it is the
ratio of the pitch diameter in inches to the number of teeth. The normal plane is the
plane normal to the tooth surface at a point of contact, and perpendicular to the
pitch plane. The outside diameter is the diameter of the outside circle. The pitch is
the distance between similar, equally spaced tooth surfaces, in a given direction

Essay On Port Royal
Introduction
In the Civil War, there were many battles and key points that helped in the victory of
the Union. The Battle of Port Royal was the second battle of the Civil War. The
Battle of Port Royal culminated an amphibious operation designed to establish a
United States military depot on the southeastern coast to carry out land and sea
operations against the Confederacy (Wise 2016). This battle gave the Union its first
victory. In November 1861 the Union attacked the Confederate at Port Royal, South
Carolina. This battle lasted for four days from November Third, 1861 to November
Seventh, 1861. This battle had the Union fighting the Confederate for control over
the port. The Union took control and shut down the port. This Union victory shut
down a place of resources for the Confederate.
Background Information
Three days after the fall of Fort Sumter in April of 1861, President Abraham
Lincoln proclaimed a blockade of all Southern ports ( The story of the Battle of
Port Royal 2012).After the fall of Fort Sumter, there was a new order for the ports to
be closed. The South refused this order. Because of this refusal, the Union wanted to
punish the South. The North had a plan to form a blockade of the Southern ports. In

battle is a serious battle that is needed in the history of the United States of

nation under control. If this battle never took place then where America is now

Analysis Of A Sound Of Thunder
Has this ever happened to you? You re sitting in class and you re staring into space,
and you miss some important directions. You have to ask others around you what
the teacher said, but apparently, the teacher has said to not talk, then you get in
trouble for talking. It has happened to me. In the short story, A Sound of Thunder ,
something similar to that happens to the main character, Eckels. He does listen but
doesn t follow the directions quite as well, and then he gets in trouble. He paid a lot
of money to go to the past and kill a dinosaur, and he got scared and stepped off the
path that his safari guide mentioned staying in multiple times. He paid the
consequences for not following directions. An important theme in A Sound of
Thunder is that your mistakes can have big consequences. This is proven when
Eckels stepped off the path, when Eckels stepped the butterfly when Travis shoots
Eckels.
Eckels stepping off the path causes things in the future to differ, and his decisions
had big impacts. But the same sign he had read earlier today on first entering.
Somehow, the sign had changed... (Bradbury. Lines 309 310). Eckels came back
from the future hoping nothing had been affected by him stepping off the path, but
the sign had changed. On the sign, the words were different than they originally
were. A small thing, like stepping a little bit off the path, had reformed English
words. Eckels had realized what he was done and he knew that this wasn t good,

Gender Differences In Football And Other Sports
Football and other sports should be abled to be played by girls too. Girls in
highschool who want to play football should be aloud. It could be a boy and girl
sport. It is unreasonable to say girls can t play football with boys.
My point is that females can be just as strong, if not stronger than males. The
females should play knowing that they might get hurt, but boys do the same thing.
Girls are always considered lower class than boys. If and when girls begin to play
with boys on sports team girls would have helmets and padding as protective gear.
Girls have their rights and can choose if they want to play football of other sports
with boys or not. Boys should not complain about this fact. Difference in gender is
not a reason for girls
The Dark Triad And Sexual Harassment
Section One: Summary and Analysis (Strength and Weaknesses) The article The Dark
Triad and sexual harassment proclivity consists of research that concerns the
importance of individuals with tendencies that engage in sexual behaviors. It s
unfortunate that sexual harassment is even prevalent at such a high rate within our
society. Moreover, it state that 44% of female and 19% of male federal employees
report that they have been sexually harassed at work (United States Merit Systems
protection Board, 1995). Consequently, there are results of sexual harassmentwithin
the job sector such as lack of job employment, lack of adjustment after the situations,
and the like. Therefore, according to the article, researchers began to expand their
understanding of sexual harassment and the causes of behavior that promote sexual
harassment. More specifically, this article states ...Previous research has established
that these traits are connected with aspects of sexual aggression (e.g. Figueredo,
Gladden, Sisco, Patch, Jones, 2015, Jones Olderbak, 2014).
Therefore, two studies were conducted that connected the personality traits of The
Dark Triad such as narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism to situations or
reasons behind sexual harassment proclivity. One study focused on the positive
associations of Dark Triad traits to sexual harassment. The second study was similar
to the first study result; however, it also revealed how Dark Triad traits were
connected to the
Reliability Of Wikipedia Essay
Wikipedia, throughout formal education, is often not seen as a credible source
through the eyes of many professors and scholars. The idea behind Wikipedia is that
the members of the general public can add their own personal knowledge,

detrimental to how citizens consume accurate information within a society. The
information that citizens of a democracy consume correlates directly with civic
engagement and participation. Through the comparative analysis of the Wikipedia

Similarities Between The Sacho Panza Syndrome And The...
The Sancho Panza syndrome (then) and the American dream (then and now)
In the 15th century, the combination of the Sancho Panza Syndrome and the
American dream fueled exploration at that time and created an incredibly enticing
allure of the New World. Exploration and colonization were performed to attain a
higher social status, more wealth, and fame. The result of this exploration led to
the discovery of new lands and laid the foundation for new countries, but it came
with a cost. The perils of the new land discovered were often incredibly treacherous
and sometimes times even life threatening, however, the American dream never
faded away. The American dream today holds very similar to the American dream
in the 15th and 16th centuries despite the gap of 500 years. These dreams are very
alike, because they both are comprised of individuals trying to achieve success in
lands of opportunity, and although some were prosperous, others were not so
fortunate. The American dream today is a household concept, which states that if a
person works hard enough, he or she can make a better life for themselves. This
concept inspires countless people every day to overcome adversity in attempt to
better their life. On a personal level, I can relate to this dream vicariously through my
father. My grandfather immigrated to the United States in 1923 from Bisaccia, Italy.
The Procaccino family stood firmly on the belief that following the American dream
was key to success, but despite how hard my great grandfather worked, the Great
Depression drained the money out of the Procaccino household. John (my
grandfather) yearned to become a doctor, but due to his family s financial situation,
John enlisted in the US Army during World War II. After completing his duties, he
earned an engineering degree and became a New York Cityengineer. John bore two
sons named Angelo and John II. Angelo was a naturally gifted child with tremendous
brainpower, but John was more of a rapscallion. With the guidance of Angelo, John
realized that the best way to create something with your life was to follow the
American dream and work harder than anyone else. John II became an incredible
student and eventually went on to be a nationally

The Museum Experience
One of my favorite things to do when traveling in a new city is to visit the museums.
I have never been to a city that did not offer the usual museum fare, usually in the
form of the Anytown Art Museum , or the Anytown Museum of Natural History .
While these types of museums house some incredible artifacts, and I do visit them
often, I also like to seek out museums of a more unusual sort.
Museums are mostly the same just about everywhere you go, both in the United
States and Europe. They offer the visitor a glimpse into the past culture of any given
city or country by displaying relics found throughout the world. But there are also
many museums that showcase artifacts of the culture in a much more ... Show more

The most profound image I took away from the Barbie collection was the
development and various uses of plastics from those early years to today. Toy
museums are popular for two reasons, they show an aspect of a culture that an art or
history museum may not address, but more importantly, they take the visitor back to
their own childhood when they see the toys that they played with when they were
young, and awaken the imagination again in ways not known for years. Another
popular topic for museums in Europe is the torture museum. The Dungeon, in Prague
is the only one I have visited, but there are several others as well in Germany and
France.
In fact, there is a website devoted to torture museums in Europe. Torture was a
common practice in Medieval Europe both for punishment and gathering information,
and I suppose the fascination lives on. The Dungeon displays some interesting
instruments used in the Middle Ages. They run the gamut from the traditional
thumbscrew, to various brands that were used to signify the type of crime committed,
to some very painful looking stretching racks, ankle screws, and hanging devices.
One interesting device, called the Crown of Thorns is an iron ring with several nails
woven into it. This ring is placed on the prisoner and pounded down around his skull

Women Saints Of The 5th And 6th Centuries Essay
A Transvestite Saint: Mary/Marina (Stouck #13)
Disguised female ascetic living was a romantic tradition and a dominant image in
biographies of women saints of the 5th and 6th centuries.
The origins of the story of Marina are uncertain, but similar stories may have been
produced by monks who were interested in spreading monastic beliefs, or by monks
who were preoccupied with sexual temptation. The natural sexual temptations of
celibate monks could have been the underlying reason why stories, like the one of
Marina, were retold and remained popular throughout the Middle Ages. The feminine
gender has been an opposing force against the sanctity of early male Christians
because monks struggled with sexual temptation, lust, and possibly involvement in
sexual activities.
Monks were primarily concerned with defining virtuous ascetic behavior in stories
like the one of Saint Marina. But it seems almost to good to be true that monks and
ascetics were flawless with obeying rules like celibacy. The point of this story was to
honor the strength of a devoted holy woman and to show the world how monks are
unconditionally devoted to God. But there is an an underlying assumption that the
story is an accurate representation of how devoted monks really were, especially
when it came to controlling biological and bodily needs. The point of the story was
to convince audiences that monks do not participate in sex, but I see past that and I
make a bold argument that the monks potentially
Essay on The Functions and Goals of the Special Veterans ...
1. I chose to cover special veterans courts for this paper. This court was created back
in 2008 in Buffalo, New York. It was created by Judge Robert Russell in an effort
to help veterans who have broken the law due to the adverse psychological and
emotional effects that military service can have upon a service member. Some
veterans, after undergoing various combat situations, being cut off from family and
friends, and other hardships associated with being in the military, are not able to
properly assimilate back into civilian life, if at all. They may resort to drug use or
alcoholism to cope, and/or act out in other ways as well. In the various articles of
this kind of court I ve read, courts usually require that the veterans offense... Show

3. From what I ve read, this kind of court is highly successful. In the case of Judge
Robert Russell s original special veteran s court, his court saw (at the time of this
particular article) a 90% success rate without any recidivism. In Hennepin County,
Minnesota, their special veteran s court was found in a study of two years to have
lowered the amount of offenses committed of 83% of the participants six months
after being in the program, as compared to six months before.
One judge noted that working with fellow veterans is particularly helpful to those
going through this special court. Veterans Today found that these programs have very
high success rates, and some programs can have up to a 90% success rate.
4. On Kentucky.gov, it shows that there are two special veterans courts; the first
one in Jefferson County, and the second in Fayette County. I believe that in order
for these courts to continue to function all that they must do is follow the
precedent set by already established courts in the U.S., as on average they have a
very high success rate. One thing I found in common with the articles I read is that
it is important for veterans being put through these kinds of courts to be working
with fellow veterans, and so I think that this should be a big staple for the two
courts in Kentucky to do to help ensure the success of their programs. As one
veteran puts it, you can t talk to a civilian who s never experienced what you have as

Government Research Paper: Independent Petroleum Association of America
Since the world began man has been obsessed with finding a source of energy that
is renewable and efficient in making for the benefit of building, transportation,
agriculture, and so many other different venues that it cannot be listed. I am
talking about oil the black substance made from millions of years of decomposition
of animals and plants. The pressure and time eventually transforms dead organisms
into an energy that can be used to power automobiles, lights, boats, construction
equipment, and the list goes on and on. With all of the oil that our wonderful earth
has created our government has created an institution that helps regulate and
control our oil and gas industry. The IPAA has a great history and purpose by
practicing their rights as an organization to represent the people of the oil industry.
About 2 years ago my interest in oil sparked when a man I had known for my
whole life began his own business as a hydrostatic tube tester. Pretty soon I joined
him in working the long days in the oil field and quickly absorbed all the
information he knew. From owning an oil lease to fixing the seating nipple at the
end of a well pump I learned quickly what this line of work was all about. So when
asked about an interest group to write about I wanted to do something involving the
oil industry since I was fairly knowledgeable about it and I
Wieland
Charles Brockden Brown s novel Wieland is characteristic of the American gothic, as
it includes many elements of horror and suspense complete with an omnipresent
sense of existential doom. What sets Wieland apart from other gothic novels of it s
time, is the way in which it carries a kind of political depth, reflecting upon some of
the anxieties surrounding the construction of the Early Republic. Wielandis widely
interpreted as an inherently political novel, as it paints a telling portrait of the
invasion of Jeffersonian agrarianism upon the hollowed grounds of high class life
in a new found nation. Nevertheless, Brown s portrait excludes his own political
leanings while he opts to imbue the novel with a specific strand of Pennsylvanian
religious pragmatism in order to create a personal gothic nightmare specific to
Philadelphian life during the Early Republic. Throughout the novel, it s entirely
unclear if the Wielands misfortune stems from divine wrath or whether the source
of their misery can be entirely attributed to Carwin. The most probable explanation
includes a combination of both; it s the threat of divine wrath which looms over the
Wielands which makes them susceptible to Carwin s meddling. This is evident
from Theodore Weiland s first encounter with the mysterious voice, which causes
Clara to immediately look for a correlation; I could not fail to perceive a shadowy
resemblance between it and my father s death (Brown 30). It s also clear that the
death of the

Cold War Essay Introduction

  • 1. Cold War Essay Introduction Writing an essay on the topic of the Cold War introduction can be a challenging task that requires careful consideration and extensive research. The Cold War was a complex geopolitical conflict that spanned several decades, involving the United States and the Soviet Union, along with their respective allies. Crafting an effective introduction to such a broad and intricate topic requires a deep understanding of the historical context, key events, and the global implications of the Cold War. To begin with, one must delve into the origins of the Cold War, examining the ideological differences between the capitalist West and the communist East. Exploring the aftermath of World War II and the power vacuum left by the collapse of Nazi Germany is crucial for understanding how the tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union escalated. The introduction should provide a glimpse into the political, economic, and social factors that fueled the rivalry between these two superpowers. Furthermore, it is essential to highlight pivotal events and turning points that defined the course of the Cold War, such as the Truman Doctrine, the Marshall Plan, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. These events shaped the geopolitical landscape and contributed to the development of strategies and policies on both sides. Crafting a concise yet informative introduction requires a skillful synthesis of these events to set the stage for the main body of the essay. Moreover, addressing the global impact of the Cold War is crucial. The ideological struggle between the superpowers had profound consequences on various regions, leading to proxy wars, geopolitical realignments, and the arms race. An effective introduction should provide a glimpse into how the Cold War influenced international relations and shaped the post-World War II world order. In conclusion, writing an introduction to a Cold War essay demands a thorough understanding of the historical context, key events, and global ramifications of this complex period. It requires careful planning, research, and a skillful synthesis of information to engage the reader and set the stage for the in-depth exploration of the topic. • 2. Summary Of The Film Imperfekt Strangers The film Imperfekt Strangers revolves around a pseudo Christian cult the Faith Community that is based in Bloomington, Indiana. In the film, there are two Indiana University students who are roommates with two members of the cult. This movie reflects from actual events that happened in the 1970s in Bloomington, Indiana. The pseudo Christian cult the Local Church that was held in Bloomington was led by Witness Lee who tried to gain members through college students and others around in the city ( Are ). Throughout the film, the two roommates who are part of the cult tries to convince the other two roommates, Steve and Tyler to join the cult. However, tension builds up with the cult members and the students when they would not convert and Steve s best friend Richie ends up joining the Christian cult. Due to the film being based on true events, Matt Walls character Tyler is deemed to be the most believable character in the film and convincing that all these events are naturally occurring on a day to day basis. At first, Tyler is accepting of his roommates Harold
  • 3. Holy Spirit Reflection There has been much through the years and especially this past year that we have been given the chance to learn and I am really thankful for it all. There have been many tests, quizzes, exams, and PBL projects that we have had to do. In every subject there has been many assignments and things that we have had to do. There have been highlights in every subject that have stood out to me. This year and for the past years we have worked a lot in every subject and for mostly everyone, our work shows it, and there has been many good things that we have learned, been challenged in, been nurtured by the Spirit, and been encouraged in through obedience to JesusChrist. At ZCS we have a motto and that motto still counts for the bible class. In bible one of the lessons that stood out to me was the Holy SpiritProject. I felt that God nurtured me through the Holy Spirit Project because when I was working on it we had to point out what the Holy Spirit means to us and how we represent Him in our lives, and that really got me thinking about the Holy Spirit and what He has done and is doing in my life and how He is moving me every day and that just really grew me spiritually. I have been challenged in bible when we had the bible memory passage of 1 Corinthians 13:1 13, not only because it s long and made me challenged to work harder on it than I usually do on other bible memory but also it made me think about what it means and how it talks about love and how love is represented in our
  • 4. The Farming Of Bones Themes Essay I knew he considered Joel lucky to no longer be part of the cane life, travay te pou zo, the farming of bones. Amabelle, The Farming of Bones After reading The Farming of Bones by Edwidge Danticat, I have concluded that there is a single underlying theme of the novel. This theme is the exploration of racial prejudice ,and a closer look into the inequality and discrimination against people of color. Though it seems to be quite broad, it can be broken down into two more specific themes. One of which is the smothering of a culture, and the other is physical violence towards those of color. In The Farming of Bones, these themes apply to the Haitian people in the 1930 s Dominican Republic. The story is presented by a Haitian worker named Amabelle, who shares firsthand her experience with both themes. The novel begins with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No details are spared in the gory account of the violence. It begins with rumors, and when these statements prove to be true, everything becomes twisted. Haitian citizens try to run, but most are forced into trucks to head to prison, and ultimately, death. Those who survive are permanently affected, both mentally and physically. When it comes to the tolerance of the violence, the rules are modified to fit the actions that need to be done. This is especially so when the person in charge is of high rank or power. The Generalissimo tries to rationalize his actions by saying, How can a country be ours if we are in smaller numbers than the outsiders? Those of us who love out country are taking measures to keep it our own (Danticat, 192) . Today, this is still true. It seems that no one is ever punished for a wrongful act when they hold a place of power, though they should be treated just as everyone else
  • 5. Eugene Ramirez Research Paper Lindsey Ramirez has little to no tact. Lindsey s eyes are sometimes red. Sometimes she reeks of cigar smoke. Like Forest Gump said, sometimes she smells like cigarettes. Lindsey sometimes walks around in public with cigarettes or cigars lodged between her ear and the side of her head, for the entire world to see. Sometimes she stinks like a distillery. Sometimes she smells like beer: sometimes she smells like liquor. It is nothing for Lindsey to pull out a fifth in broad daylight and say, Let s get drunk. Lindsey has very little stage presence. She often acts as if she does not care about her surroundings. She curses and she is loud. She turns ordinary parking lots into movie scenes. She wears her sleeping clothes when she leaves the house and goes to the grocery store. Lindsey loves attention, even if that attention is negative. It is hard to involve her in wholesome family functions because she will turn the best day ever into a most regrettable moment. She always thinks she is right but everyone knows that she is wrong. Her immature behavior has left her alienated and avoided like a plague. Lindsey is in love with the coco. Sometimes her eyes are buck and bouncing. Lindsey did not know that the spice she had smoked had floor cleaner in it. That spice had Lindsey
  • 6. What Is Cosmic Irony In Odysseus Odysseus fulfills the first criteria of cosmic irony when it becomes clear that a powerful god, or fate itself, has the ability and desire to manipulate and control events in his life. Odysseus wants to explore the land of the Cyclops leading him to get trapped in Polyphemus cave. To escape this alive, he must blind Polyphemus. After escaping Odysseustaunts the cyclopsleading Polyphemus to curse his trip home. Since Polyphemus knew that he would be blinded by a man named Odysseus; All this, he warned me, would come to pass someday that I d be blinded here at the hands of Odysseus (9. 569 570) Within this quote, it is apparent to the reader that it was inevitable for Odysseus to go to the land of the Cyclops and blind Polyphemus because Polyphemus was always told he would encounter Odysseus one day, leading Odysseus to having his trip cursed by the god Poseidon after he blinded his son.... It is a dream come true for many women to find love, get married and have a family of their own. It is certain that many achieve that goal by marrying their love of their life, while others have the misfortune of marrying a ceasing fantasy. • 9. Examples Of Figurative Language In The Gift Of The Magi Today s generation has lost the appreciation for the morals that are the roots of stories. Author O. Henry attempts to bring back that appreciation in his short story, The gift of the Magi. Henry creates Jim and Della so distinctively that he must have seen a couple so in love with each other that it seemed like a fairy tale to watch them. The narrator tells most of the story from Della s perspective. She s described as young, affectionate, selfless, and somewhat hysterical, requiring Jim to comfort her when she s upset. 3 She cares deeply for Jim, and for finding him this amazing present she believes he deserves. Her most prized possession at the beginning of the story is her lustrous hair, but in her selflessness, she has all of her hair chopped off and sells it in order to buy a proper watch chain for Jim. This single act alone could be grounds enough to proves her love for Jim, and her willingness to sacrifice for him. Jim, the lord of the flat, is only twenty two years old and is already heavily burdened by the need to support his family on a low salary. Despite this burden, however, he is described as content, quiet, and good natured. 3 He loves his wife very much, and because of that he sells his prized watch, a family heirloom, passed down from his grandfather, in order to buy fancy combs for Della s beautiful hair that she had been eyeing as they shopped one afternoon. Della seems to turn from a whiny young lady at the beginning of the short story, to a determined and willful woman at the
  • 10. Crime Recidivism And Its Effects On Society It is estimated that 1% of the population is psychopathic and yet, they commit more than 50% of serious crimes and their crime recidivism is three times more likely than other criminals (how to create a psychopath). It is irrefutable that despite the fact that psychopaths do not comprise much of the population, they are dangerous and menacing to society. Their crimes are callous and gruesome, and often have a profound impact on society as psychopaths prey on as many people as they can, particularly vulnerable people, until they satisfy their needs. They cannot seem to distinguish between moral and conventional transgressions. To them, everything is conventional. They have little or no morality due to the fact that their frontal lobe is malfunctioning and fails to restrain them from harming someone or committing a crime. Justice provides a security blanket for all members of society. They desire that sense of safety and knowledge that the world is in order. Psychopaths walk among us and some are dangerous which causes a dilemma for society whether to lock them up and achieve justice for society or allow them to roam freely to achieve justice for psychopaths as a minority. Psychopaths continue to pose a threat to society primarily due to the fact that they suffer from a severe personality disorder that may cause them to act on their malicious whims at any time. Psychopaths seem less threatening to society when they are out of sight and locked away. Psychopathyis one of many

Market Failure is Becoming Commonplace in Our Economy Market Failure in Economics Market failures have become a common phenomenon and now that the world has opened up things are much faster paced and things happen much quickly then how they used to happen in the past. It is the over dependency of the nations on one another that have brought these economic crisis on one another and the last century was full of such instances. There was no winner or loser in such a case and in the end it was the common man who lost a lot. These are the happenings, which suggested that it was about time checks and balances were put in place and in the end it was necessary that such things could be avoided for good for the betterment of the people. The crash of 1929 started a recession that lasted for almost a decade and it engulfed the entire world in the problem. Had the people been able to predict it, it would have been avoided but that was not the case and the crisis was so massive that prices shot up like anything and the jobs were slashed. At the end of the day it was very costly and the entire world economycollapsed. It showed how vulnerable can the free market economy be. It also showed how dreadful it can be if the market failure and the collapse of an economy is not cushioned in the nick of time to reduce the potential damage that can be caused. The crash on Monday 22nd October 1929 in New York Stock Exchangewas probably the biggest dilemma of economic nature faced by the world. It was a problem that engulfed the entire world causing

Many people claim that Thoreau amp;#8217;s ideas were simply taken from Emerson amp;#8217;s, in fact, some critics call Thoreau Emerson amp;#8217;s miror. And although their philosophies greatly reflected one another, they differed in many ways as well. Emerson amp;#8217;s writing focused on nonconformity and individuality. In his essay quot;Self Reliance, quot; he wrote, quot;Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind, quot; and, quot;Whoso would be a man, must be a nonconformist. quot; Emerson writings were also more focused on the self; philosophy of humanism and Independence from society are all things that Emerson wrote on frequently. Thoreau, while focusing on matters of the self in many of his essays, tended to have more of a political overtone to his writing. In amp;#8220;Civil Disobedience ;, Thoreau amp;#8217;s most famous social protest, He explains that it is our civil right to disagree with laws. He believed that people must be free to act according to their own idea of right and wrong, without government interference. In quot;Civil Disobedience quot;, he said that people should refuse to obey any law they believe is unjust. Thoreau practiced this type of passive resistance when, in 1846, he refused to pay poll taxes. He did so to express his opposition to the Mexican War. Thoreau spent one night in jail for his refusal.

  • 14. Reflective Essay On The Father Of God As tears fell from my eyes and onto the light blue carpet, I heard words I never thought I would hear. One Sunday about three years ago, our assistant pastor preached a message, and after that, he announced that our pastor was stepping down. Because it was such a close knit church, we quickly learned that our pastor had committed adultery with one of my best friends mother. My familywas extremely upset and the whole church was distraught when we heard the news. I had no idea what to think. This man, whom I trusted, had baptized me and answered any questions I had. My family adored our pastor because he was such a great teacher of the Bible. I could not fathom how my pastor, a man of God, could be capable of a sin like this. After church that day, my family went out to eat. At the restaurant, my father mentioned that he wanted to try out a different church. This idea my father posed to my family was so foreign to me. This church family was all I had ever known since I was four years old. I continuously asked God: after eleven years, why did my family have to be uprooted. I could not understand how something like this could happen. The Bible says in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for the good of those who love God, but I did not understand how anything good could possibly come from my situation. My brother and my father were excited to visit new churches, but my feelings were the opposite. Despite my feelings, I decided I was going to be optimistic and give

One advantage a film maker has when using war as a movie plot is that there is already a lot of drama in war. This may seem like a good advantage for the film maker, however focusing on all of the drama of warleaves much of the actual info. When watching a war movie, you may feel like you have an understanding about the war, but when you really compare a war movie to an actual war you find that there is a lot of factual information left out. There are more important things during a war than finding a private Ryan. War is a huge event and the little things like finding a person to keep the family name going is too small to include in war history. This is what separates the movies from the real life. Another difference is they don t show the actual planning it takes to start an attack or the inelegance that is needed to set up the perfect defense barrier to prevent the advancement of the enemy soldiers. A real battle can last days, weeks, months, or years, compared to movie war that lasts not even a day and has one guy or one platoon take on the entire other side. The casualties of real war is tremendous, rather than movies where you see almost the same characters in the whole movie accomplishing some of the most intense tasks with only one or two dying. Also, in movie war you don t see the other side s horror. You think all the opponents are bad horrible people that deserve to die, when they are just soldiers doing their job and the only reason we are fighting them is because of a bad leader or government. So in the movies every enemy deserves to die and should be shown no mercy, but the actual thing about that is that the enemy is just like any other soldier. And furthermore when the good guys lose a battle in a

The Musuo Of Chin Matrilineal Kinship The Musuo of China: Matrilineal Kinship The practice of matrilineal kinship is considered a myth by some cultures, but it is indeed very real for the Musuo of China. Matrilineality is the practice of linear descent through the ancestry of females. Many Western civilizations have a misconception of what is considered normal on a global scale, but many practices do, in fact, differ widely between different cultures. To illustrate this, the Musuo s traditions and values in regards to marriageand family are based solely on matrilineal kinship, while America s melting pot ideation encourages unilineal descent, in which the ancestry line can be traced to the wife and /or the husband. In the paper I will discuss the cultural nature of the Musuo, and the way that marriage and family norms in Musuo differ from the typical American ideation of family. One indication that Musuo traditions differ from the American culture in terms of marriage is the lack of a formal union between wife and husband, as well as the American idea of father and child. According their article Land of the Walking Marriage (2000), Lu Yuan and Sam Mitchell explain that Musuo fathers do not raise their own children, but instead cater to their sister s children s needs. American cultural norms include the belief that blood relatives have a biological attachment to each other, which makes this type of kinship unacceptable to many conservative minded Americans. Moreover, the dynamics of marital behavioral

It is why as human beings we thrive in the world, learning from the past through stories and illustrations that create emotion, desire and inspiration. It was literature that started Adolf Hitler s reign, through the simplicity of words. When World War 2 began, literature was a basis of hope, it would encompass emotion and for many their last mark on the world. Little Polish Boy, (1969), written by Peter Fischl, a survivor of the Holocaust, explores the war through a child s perception. The poem highlights the naГЇve nature of children, witnessing an act of inhumane proportions, their voices suddenly neglected and powerless. In comparison, the Boy in The Striped Pyjamas, a novel written by John Boyne in 2006 demonstrates children s willingness to defy an ingrained war culture due to the naivety of their actions and understanding. Little Polish Boy is a poem that highlights the impacts of war on children. On the other hand they are know to have notoriously bad customer service which in turn limits the amount of customers they bring in and increases the amount of customers that cancel their service. To deal with these problems we have come up with multiple marketing recommendations. In order to get rid of the reputation of bad service Time Warnerhas to advertise their new and improved customer service so that people will want to buy from Time Warner Cable. One way to start improving customer service is to offer online survey so that the customers know that their opinion is whats most important to Time Warner Cable. The survey will not just ask if their problems were solved or if the representative was good. It will ask in depth questions about what the customer thought about that particular representative. They also can give follow up surveys a few weeks after a phone call. These surveys will be there to see if the problem that the customer experienced is arising again and to make sure that there are no new problems. These surveys show that Time Warner Cable truly does care for the wellbeing of their customers. Along with surveys Time Warner Cable can also offer holiday specialties such as reduced prices for the holiday season. They can market this by saying that they understand that a lot of money is being spent on

The snow goose has been rising in population since the middle of the century and has been escalating so much it is destroying their natural habitat. Wildlife managers have just recently begun to implement strategies to combat this problem. Mainly through the use of hunters the managers are trying to curb the population growth. The LSGO and ROGO starting in the middle of the 60 s and continually have extended their nesting range south into less extreme climate (Abraham and Jeffries 1998). It has also been suggested that since birds are now living longer the older adults are now leading the less wary young to safer sites and out of hunter s range (Ingstrup 1998). Ingstrup also suggests that the artic may be warming and as Abraham and Jeffries cited there has been shown a correlation between the snow melt and survival of nesting birds and their young. According to Hodge the annual kill by hunters in 1970 neared 40% but in 1994 the rate had dropped to less than 8%. Thus allowing a great deal of the adult population to return to nesting sites in the spring. Impact on habitat The snow geese still nest in a primarily salt marsh environment. Reflection On Acuity As An English II Predictor Reflection 27: Acuity as an English II Predictor Methods Linear regression allows researchers to analyze cause and effect or predictive relationships among variables (Creighton, 2007). For this assignment, I set out to conduct a regression analysis in hopes of answering two questions: (1) is there a relationship between student scores on Acuity, our school wide interim testing program, and their performance on the English II state assessment?, and (2) if the relationship is significant, can Acuity results be used to predict student performance on the state test? To conduct this analysis I used the 2015 Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) English II assessment results as well as the Acuity data from the first semester screener which was given in December 2014. This test was the last comprehensive Acuity exam given to English II students during the 2014 2015 school year (a PARCC issued practice test was used during third nine weeks exams). My student sample included all students who had both a December Acuity score in the Acuity online system and a Spring 2015 PARCC score in School Status, the school s database for teacher and student information. With these requirements, the total sample size included 64 students. To run my statistical analysis, I created a Google Sheet document with three columns including the student name (1), their percent correct on the December 2014 Acuity Diagnostic test (2), and their scale score for the Spring

The Sancho Panza syndrome (then) and the American dream (then and now) In the 15th century, the combination of the Sancho Panza Syndrome and the American dream fueled exploration at that time and created an incredibly enticing allure of the New World. Exploration and colonization were performed to attain a higher social status, more wealth, and fame. The result of this exploration led to the discovery of new lands and laid the foundation for new countries, but it came with a cost. The perils of the new land discovered were often incredibly treacherous and sometimes times even life threatening, however, the American dream never faded away. The American dream today holds very similar to the American dream in the 15th and 16th centuries despite the gap of 500 years. These dreams are very alike, because they both are comprised of individuals trying to achieve success in lands of opportunity, and although some were prosperous, others were not so fortunate. The American dream today is a household concept, which states that if a person works hard enough, he or she can make a better life for themselves. This concept inspires countless people every day to overcome adversity in attempt to better their life. On a personal level, I can relate to this dream vicariously through my father. My grandfather immigrated to the United States in 1923 from Bisaccia, Italy. The Procaccino family stood firmly on the belief that following the American dream was key to success, but despite how hard my great grandfather worked, the Great Depression drained the money out of the Procaccino household. The origins of the story of Marina are uncertain, but similar stories may have been produced by monks who were interested in spreading monastic beliefs, or by monks who were preoccupied with sexual temptation. The natural sexual temptations of celibate monks could have been the underlying reason why stories, like the one of Marina, were retold and remained popular throughout the Middle Ages. The feminine gender has been an opposing force against the sanctity of early male Christians because monks struggled with sexual temptation, lust, and possibly involvement in sexual activities. Monks were primarily concerned with defining virtuous ascetic behavior in stories like the one of Saint Marina. But it seems almost to good to be true that monks and ascetics were flawless with obeying rules like celibacy. The point of this story was to honor the strength of a devoted holy woman and to show the world how monks are unconditionally devoted to God. But there is an an underlying assumption that the story is an accurate representation of how devoted monks really were, especially when it came to controlling biological and bodily needs. The point of the story was to convince audiences that monks do not participate in sex, but I see past that and I make a bold argument that the monks potentially

In the case of Judge Robert Russell s original special veteran s court, his court saw (at the time of this particular article) a 90% success rate without any recidivism. In Hennepin County, Minnesota, their special veteran s court was found in a study of two years to have lowered the amount of offenses committed of 83% of the participants six months after being in the program, as compared to six months before. One judge noted that working with fellow veterans is particularly helpful to those going through this special court. • 57. Wieland Charles Brockden Brown s novel Wieland is characteristic of the American gothic, as it includes many elements of horror and suspense complete with an omnipresent sense of existential doom. What sets Wieland apart from other gothic novels of it s time, is the way in which it carries a kind of political depth, reflecting upon some of the anxieties surrounding the construction of the Early Republic. Wielandis widely interpreted as an inherently political novel, as it paints a telling portrait of the invasion of Jeffersonian agrarianism upon the hollowed grounds of high class life in a new found nation. Nevertheless, Brown s portrait excludes his own political leanings while he opts to imbue the novel with a specific strand of Pennsylvanian religious pragmatism in order to create a personal gothic nightmare specific to Philadelphian life during the Early Republic. Throughout the novel, it s entirely unclear if the Wielands misfortune stems from divine wrath or whether the source of their misery can be entirely attributed to Carwin. The most probable explanation includes a combination of both; it s the threat of divine wrath which looms over the Wielands which makes them susceptible to Carwin s meddling. This is evident from Theodore Weiland s first encounter with the mysterious voice, which causes Clara to immediately look for a correlation; I could not fail to perceive a shadowy resemblance between it and my father s death (Brown 30). It s also clear that the death of the
