When I was ten years old, I was told I had to get plastic surgery. I was terrified and
immediately burst into tears. I didn t get upset because I was scared, but rather I
thought that undergoing plastic surgery meant the doctor was going to cut a piece
of my body out and replace it with plastic. I thought I was going to be part Barbie. I
eventually came to terms with this crazy idea of mine only to learn plastic surgerywas

soldiers went south by Australia and began to push up. Another group began to push
east, toward Japan. Then, President Franklin Roosevelt died in office, leaving Vice

Reflection 27: Acuity as an English II Predictor Methods Linear regression allows
researchers to analyze cause and effect or predictive relationships among variables
(Creighton, 2007). For this assignment, I set out to conduct a regression analysis in
hopes of answering two questions: (1) is there a relationship between student scores
on Acuity, our school wide interim testing program, and their performance on the
English II state assessment?, and (2) if the relationship is significant, can Acuity
results be used to predict student performance on the state test? To conduct this
analysis I used the 2015 Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and
Careers (PARCC) English II assessment results as well as the Acuity data from the
first semester screener which was given in December 2014. This test was the last
comprehensive Acuity exam given to English II students during the 2014 2015
school year (a PARCC issued practice test was used during third nine weeks exams).
My student sample included all students who had both a December Acuity score in
the Acuity online system and a Spring 2015 PARCC score in School Status, the
school s database for teacher and student information. With these requirements, the
total sample size included 64 students. To run my statistical analysis, I created a

Has this ever happened to you? You re sitting in class and you re staring into space,
and you miss some important directions. You have to ask others around you what
the teacher said, but apparently, the teacher has said to not talk, then you get in

something similar to that happens to the main character, Eckels. He does listen but
doesn t follow the directions quite as well, and then he gets in trouble. He paid a lot

The most profound image I took away from the Barbie collection was the
development and various uses of plastics from those early years to today. Toy
museums are popular for two reasons, they show an aspect of a culture that an art or
history museum may not address, but more importantly, they take the visitor back to

3. From what I ve read, this kind of court is highly successful. In the case of Judge
Robert Russell s original special veteran s court, his court saw (at the time of this
particular article) a 90% success rate without any recidivism. In Hennepin County,
Minnesota, their special veteran s court was found in a study of two years to have
lowered the amount of offenses committed of 83% of the participants six months
after being in the program, as compared to six months before.
One judge noted that working with fellow veterans is particularly helpful to those

Since the world began man has been obsessed with finding a source of energy that
is renewable and efficient in making for the benefit of building, transportation,
agriculture, and so many other different venues that it cannot be listed. I am
talking about oil the black substance made from millions of years of decomposition
of animals and plants. The pressure and time eventually transforms dead organisms
into an energy that can be used to power automobiles, lights, boats, construction
equipment, and the list goes on and on. With all of the oil that our wonderful earth
has created our government has created an institution that helps regulate and

Charles Brockden Brown s novel Wieland is characteristic of the American gothic, as
it includes many elements of horror and suspense complete with an omnipresent
sense of existential doom. What sets Wieland apart from other gothic novels of it s
time, is the way in which it carries a kind of political depth, reflecting upon some of
the anxieties surrounding the construction of the Early Republic. Wielandis widely
interpreted as an inherently political novel, as it paints a telling portrait of the
invasion of Jeffersonian agrarianism upon the hollowed grounds of high class life
in a new found nation. Nevertheless, Brown s portrait excludes his own political
leanings while he opts to imbue the novel with a specific strand of Pennsylvanian
religious pragmatism in order to create a personal gothic nightmare specific to
Philadelphian life during the Early Republic. Throughout the novel, it s entirely
unclear if the Wielands misfortune stems from divine wrath or whether the source
of their misery can be entirely attributed to Carwin. The most probable explanation
includes a combination of both; it s the threat of divine wrath which looms over the
Wielands which makes them susceptible to Carwin s meddling. This is evident
from Theodore Weiland s first encounter with the mysterious voice, which causes
Clara to immediately look for a correlation; I could not fail to perceive a shadowy
resemblance between it and my father s death (Brown 30). It s also clear that the
