Sustainable architecture is part of our future, by taking the role of educating and showing our responsibilities as architects, planners, designers and land owners - the living buildings of tomorrow will be built today.
This presentation was done as part of the seminar work to be done by final year B.Tech students of Kerala University at Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology, dept. of civil engineering.
Earthships are primarily designed to work as autonomous buildings using thermal mass construction and natural cross ventilation assisted by thermal draught (Stack effect) to regulate indoor temperature. These are generally off-the-grid homes, minimizing their reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. Earthships are built to utilize the available local resources, especially energy from the sun. In this age of increased garbage accumulation, it is essential to reduce the waste clutter and earthships are an ideal option. This paper discusses the construction aspects, merits and demerits of earthships.

Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs molecules having approximately 18-25 nucleotides, they are present in both plants and animals genomes. MiRNAs have diverse spatial expression patterns and regulate various developmental metabolisms, stress responses and other physiological processes. The dynamic gene expression playing major roles in phenotypic differences in organisms are believed to be controlled by miRNAs. Mutations in regions of regulatory factors, such as miRNA genes or transcription factors (TF) necessitated by dynamic environmental factors or pathogen infections, have tremendous effects on structure and expression of genes. The resultant novel gene products presents potential explanations for constant evolving desirable traits that have long been bred using conventional means, biotechnology or genetic engineering. Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

Solar panels are an excellent way to save energy and reduce energy
bills.
Solar shingles are a bit pricier to install than traditional solar
panels, since not only help power the building, but they're
actually roof shingles.

Cob is an ancient building material that's basically wet earth and
straw mixed together and rolled into loaf-sized pieces or cobs. The
mixture is very similar to clay, and what makes cob houses unique
and beautiful is the organic shape.

to provide sustainable electricity for any use. Electrical

efficiency, latitude, and climate—solar gain varies even at
the same latitude.
• Roofs are often angled toward the sun to allow
photovoltaic panels to collect at maximum efficiency.
• Solar panels can produce adequate energy if aligned within
30° of south.
Wind turbines:
• The use of undersized wind turbines in energy production
in sustainable structures requires the consideration of
many factors.
• In considering costs, small wind systems are generally more
expensive than larger wind turbines relative to the amount
of energy they produce.

• Solar water heaters, also called solar domestic hot water systems, can
be a cost-effective way to generate hot water for a home.
• They can be used in any climate, and the fuel they use—sunshine—is

• There are also two types of circulation, direct circulation systems and
