• HUMAN ENVIRONMENT
INTRODUCTION
• Nature, place, people, things, etc. that surround
the living organisms make the environment.
• It provides air, water, food and the land where we
live.
• It can be broadly classified into:
• Natural environment
• Human environment
Biotic And Abiotic Factors Of
The Environment
• Biotic: living components in an
environment
• Abiotic: non living components in an
environment
Biotic Factors
• Biotic factors refer to the living
factors in the environment
• Some of these factors include
plants, animals, as well
as fungi and bacteria.
• These biotic components can
be further classified, based on
the energy requirement source.
Producers, consumers, and
decomposers are the three
broad categories of biotic
components.
Abiotic Factors
• Abiotic factors refer to non-living
factors in the environment
• These are also called as the
ecological factors.
• Light, air, soil, and nutrients, etc.
form the abiotic components of
an ecosystem.
• The abiotic factors vary from
ecosystem to ecosystem. In
an aquatic ecosystem, the abiotic
factors may include water
pH, sunlight available nutrients
and dissolved oxygen.
Components Of Environment

NATURAL HUMAN MADE HUMAN
• Air (Atmosphere)
• Water (Hydrosphere)
• Land (Lithosphere)
• Living things (Biosphere)
• Parks
• Buildings
• Bridges
• Individual
• Family
• Community
• Region• Roads
• Monuments
• industries
• Educational
• Economic
• Political situation
8
• Comprises of land, air, water, plants and animals
• Has four domains: lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and
biosphere
Natural Environment
Domains Of The Environment
• Lithosphere
• Hydrosphere
• Atmosphere
• Biosphere
Lithosphere
• Solid, outermost part of the earth consisting
the crust and the upper mantle.
• Made up of rocks and minerals and covered
by a layer of soil.
• An irregular surface, containing landforms like
mountains, plateaus, etc.
• It is a source of minerals.
Hydrosphere
• Part of the earth that contains the water.
• Includes water bodies like rivers, lakes
and ponds.
• Is essential for all living organisms.
Atmosphere
• Thin layer of air that surrounds the earth.
• Contains a no. of gases, dust and water
vapour.
• Shields us from sun’s harmful rays.
• There is change in weather and climate if
there is a change in the atmosphere.
Biosphere
• Living component of the environment
• Formed with the union of lithosphere,
atmosphere and hydrosphere
• Includes all micro organisms, plant, animals
and humans, birds and all other things
What Is An Ecosystem?
• Relation between living organisms as well
as the relation between the organisms
and their surroundings forms an
ecosystem.
• There can be an ecosystem of a large
rainforest, grassland, desert, mountains,
lakes, rivers, ocean and even a small pond.
• Humans depend on the environment for various resources like
air, water, plants, minerals, soil, animals and energy.
• They interact with the environment and modify it according to
their needs.
Human Environment
• A perfect balance is necessary between the natural
and human environment.
• Environment is changing due to our growing needs
due to which we are modifying and sometimes
even destroying our natural surroundings.
• Humans must learn to live and use their
environment in a harmonious way.
THANK YOU!!!
