Stop Trying to Delight Your Customers.pdfIQbal KHan
The notion that companies must go above and beyond in their customer service activities is so entrenched that managers rarely examine it. But a study of more than 75,000 people interacting with contact-center representatives or using self-service channels found that over-the-top efforts make little difference: All customers really want is a simple, quick solution to their problem.
The Corporate Executive Board’s Dixon and colleagues describe five loyalty-building tactics that every company should adopt: Reduce the need for repeat calls by anticipating and dealing with related downstream issues; arm reps to address the emotional side of customer interactions; minimize the need for customers to switch service channels; elicit and use feedback from disgruntled or struggling customers; and focus on problem solving, not speed.
The authors also introduce the Customer Effort Score and show that it is a better predictor of loyalty than customer satisfaction measures or the Net Promoter Score. And they make available to readers a related diagnostic tool, the Customer Effort Audit. They conclude that we are reaching a tipping point that may presage the end of the telephone as the main channel for service interactions—and that managers therefore have an opportunity to rebuild their service organizations and put reducing customer effort firmly at the core, where it belongs
GROW Your Life Insurance Agency Without Relying on InsurersJohn Lynch
With more online competition by insurers, a surplus of agents and a declining consumer market for quality insurance, life insurance agents and agencies need to find new ways to prospect and build their agencies with new revenue sources and a better foot-in-the-door with prospects that can afford quality insurance products.
Agencies need to change their business model by innovating and focusing on marketing ROI as an output versus focusing the discussion input, e.g., costs, etc.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

16. The words of the CEO… (showing that customer satisfactionis truly at the heart of the company) So, in these days of "Customer No-Service," it is refreshing to experience the following: • To be offered cold drinks on a hot summer day. • To be recognized and addressed properly by your last name ... pronounced correctly, by the way. • To be telephoned the day after you rent a car just to make sure everything was okay. • And to be treated in an extremely professional and personable manner during the entire experience.” "All of your systems have to be customer focused and probably more important, your people need to be customer focused," he explains.
17. “The goal of the company is to exceed customer expectations. We build loyal, long-term relationships with our customers and neighbors by treating them fairly, meeting their needs and earning their trust. “
19. When the business was smaller, Jack Taylor really wanted to know his customers personally. He would keep track of who was taking delivery of cars, so we could call and thank them. He started the business because he thought he could give customers a better experience. But, as the company grew, it started having more and more complaints. In 1994 the company created a measurement called ESQi (Enterprise Service Quality index). It is a customer opinions survey taken monthly, at every branch. There are two questions. The first asks about the customer's satisfaction level, with five answers ranging from "completely satisfied" to "completely dissatisfied," and the second asks how likely he would be to return to Enterprise.
