The document describes changes made to the landing page for First Cardinal LLC, a workers' compensation services company. The changes included: (1) an immediate call to action and benefit highlighting money savings, (2) concise answers to "Why Us?" with stories moved to separate pages, (3) testimonials from various organizations to build credibility, and (4) fewer words and more white space for readability. These changes led to increased lead generation for First Cardinal's sales representatives.

Why Subscriptions are Good for Customers…and Business by Brent LearySugarCRM
As consumers adopt new technologies and adapt their lifestyles to take advantage of what it can do for them, they are gravitating towards companies willing to shift the way they have always done business in order to provide services more suitable to tech savvy people. This session will discuss what is driving the growth of The Subscription Economy, how new business models are creating better opportunities to extend relationships with customers, what metrics are being used to measure the health of a subscription business, and share case studies of companies that have successfully made the transition product based businesses to subscription offerings.
It is indeed odd that in occasions of remarkable technological progress, we typically never think twice inside the situation of deciding to buy some “cool” technological gadget, which often will most likely not give us any financial advantage in exchange; but we have grow to be rather hesitant to dedicate our funds on contemporary engineering which has truly proven its worth. Getting said that, the actual truth is the fact that most staff change opinion in the quick time, when they uncover a document in just a number of seconds and uncover for themselves how quick and simple it is to discover a piece of content with their company’s new document management application.

It is very important to take the time to fully research many brokerages in ones area as it can have long lasting effects on a sales agent's career. When speaking to other agents I have been told to shop the most compatible corporate culture for myself as they can vary greatly. The broker you choose to work for will be more than your boss, they need to be your best friend and partner. They are the person who will have your back when things go less than perfect so you need to be able to trust them fully.
An agent shopping for a brokerage should take many things into consideration. The office itself should be measured. Is it in a desirable and easy to access location? Is it visually pleasing and is there ample parking? The other agents working for the brokerage should be diverse in experience. Does the brokerage offer marketing services? What kind of desk fees do they charge and what is the beginning commission split. They should have a visually pleasing web page that is easy to navigate. They should also have a good reputation in the community.
I have actually interviewed at two different brokerages so far and both were very reputable and offered great things for their agents. A big selling point for me was the type of support and education they offer to new agents. I wanted to know if they offer a post-license course or if I would have to take it online. I also asked if they offer a mentor program which both did. The biggest difference in the companies was commission split and diversity of agents. One offered a much larger commission split but had a much larger ratio of new inexperienced agent to experienced agent ratio. There were about 4 agents out of 5 with less that a year of experience. I felt I would prefer the office with more experienced agents and a lower commission split as a new agent as I can always earn more with a more secure base of experience behind me.

Before & After Press Release for a Los Angeles HospitalTia Dobi
I knew nothing about osteoporosis when suddenly the phone rang.
BRRRRRRRING.
“Hello, Tia? This is Jane. I own Jane Doe Communications Group. We’re a public relations and marketing council here in Los Angeles. I heard your writing is exciting. Can you re-write a press release for us today?”
“Sure. What should I keep in mind?”
“Work magic.”
“Okay.”
Priceless. The Late Great Ron Hoff On Corporate Advertising: 12 Questions to AskTia Dobi
Ron Hoff Talks Corporate Advertising was part of a series from the brilliant campaign: “The Wall Street Journal. It Works.”
As a copywriter, this concept stands out:
…they [copywriters] should never start writing until they have seven times as many facts as they will actually use in an ad.
No matter your marketing education, if you want to learn how to broadcast your expertise out to the world, you've just hit the jackpot.
Read and see if you don't agree.
Story telling is in our D.N.A. The start of this direct response marketing piece is modeled after Martin Conroy's infamous direct mail letter. The campaign mailed for 28 years, (1975 - 2003), generating an estimated $2 billion in revenue for The Wall Street Journal. Given the subject matter for my client (a college admissions coach with two Harvard University masters degrees), the usage seemed apt.
Gladiator Platform pitch in the early days of Titan Gaming, Inc. to International Game Technologies (IGT), a world leader in the casino industry. IGT manufactures roughly half of the slot machines in the United States.
Tia Dobi Portfolio Piece SEIU President Speech CA LegislatureTia Dobi
I don’t know squat about California healthcare. Since I use to live in Texas, ditto unions. I also don’t know much about state politics. And I’ve never written a speech.
But when the secretary to the president of Los Angeles' largest labor union tasked me with ghostwriting her boss’s pitch to the California Legislature, I was determined.
Seems the big guy had just axed the deputy communications director out of a job (at their annual good ole boy retreat).
The stakes were high. If looming budget cuts passed, the union’s home healthcare flock would be in serious peril. No state money, no pay check.
In a day and a half, the upper brass and a bunch of union workers were hopping a bus for Sacramento. Those who could would storm the Capital and watch the union boss vs. the state senate. Press would be in attendance.
I needed input super quick to come up with a concept.
An SEIU analyst gave me a 20 minute debrief. This actually took a few hours because she kept taking phone calls with pesky people between talking to me. Meanwhile I poured over numbers and reams of text from the research dept. It might as well have been written in Greek.
Pacing the halls, an oversized mug shot of Arnold Schwarzenegger came to my rescue.
“Isn’t that the governor… smoking a big, fat cigar…. on the cover of, what is this? Southern California’s Senior Living? Never heard of it.”
But I threw it all together. The union boss loved it. And the people on the bus came back happy.

Digital Commerce Lecture for Advanced Digital & Social Media Strategy at UCLA...Valters Lauzums
E-commerce in 2024 is characterized by a dynamic blend of opportunities and significant challenges. Supply chain disruptions and inventory shortages are critical issues, leading to increased shipping delays and rising costs, which impact timely delivery and squeeze profit margins. Efficient logistics management is essential, yet it is often hampered by these external factors. Payment processing, while needing to ensure security and user convenience, grapples with preventing fraud and integrating diverse payment methods, adding another layer of complexity. Furthermore, fulfillment operations require a streamlined approach to handle volume spikes and maintain accuracy in order picking, packing, and shipping, all while meeting customers' heightened expectations for faster delivery times.
Amid these operational challenges, customer data has emerged as an important strategy. By focusing on personalization and enhancing customer experience from historical behavior, businesses can deliver improved website and brand experienced, better product recommendations, optimal promotions, and content to meet individual preferences. Better data analytics can also help in effectively creating marketing campaigns, improving customer retention, and driving product development and inventory management.
Innovative formats such as social commerce and live shopping are beginning to impact the digital commerce landscape, offering new ways to engage with customers and drive sales, and may provide opportunity for brands that have been priced out or seen a downturn with post-pandemic shopping behavior. Social commerce integrates shopping experiences directly into social media platforms, tapping into the massive user bases of these networks to increase reach and engagement. Live shopping, on the other hand, combines entertainment and real-time interaction, providing a dynamic platform for showcasing products and encouraging immediate purchases. These innovations not only enhance customer engagement but also provide valuable data for businesses to refine their strategies and deliver superior shopping experiences.
The e-commerce sector is evolving rapidly, and businesses that effectively manage operational challenges and implement innovative strategies are best positioned for long-term success.

Eight Words To A Sale
When The Search Agency in Santa Monica, Ca. called, I was thrilled. “Can you write B2C and
B2B pay-per-click ads?” they asked. “I’ve never done it, but I study direct response like a
madwoman and I’d love to give it a shot,” I said.
The VP placed me as a pinch-hitter (rather than a dedicated vertical); I was the only
copywriter to touch every campaign, across 8 account management teams.
Every day I pulled constant ideation and sales concepts out of my brain. (I initiated creative
briefs… something the agency wasn’t using previously.)
Most of the landing pages were for direct response companies selling consumer products:
electronics, recipes, movie DVDs, homes. (My first PPC campaign ran for 2 years.)
First Cardinal LLC was a successful B2B operating in 3 states. With sales hovering around
$100M, the sales force needed better leads for heir workers’ compensation services.
I asked the president if I could also rewrite their landing page. “Yes.”
In the goal of speeding buyer velocity, here’s what I did:
Brain pathway. Immediate call to action. Copy includes benefit: money-saving.
Quick answer. “Why Us?” Copy shows co. is on the rise; story details moved to a
separate page. There if the reader wants it and not in the way of lead capture.
Social proof. Previously, I worked at Agora for 2 years getting testimonials and when
I can, prefer to interview buyers by phone directly. First Cardinal had 20; I choose
these for their variety—both content and length. Red font draws attention to the
organizational names (more credible than individuals), makes for easy scanning.
(Side note: I was also pushing testimonials and ‘prospect quotes’ as copy for certain
B2C pay-per-click campaigns; after seeing thousands of ads, I believe I was the first
copywriter to do this.)
Breathing room. Shorter copy, more white space, sub-heads are easy on the central
nervous system. The copy is as long as it needs to be, not one iota more or less.
The $64,000 question. I ripped the last 8-word question in the quote form directly
out of a copywriting textbook. It’s a technique that hands the prospect’s pain point
to the sales rep on a silver platter, opens relevant conversation with ease.
The new landing page was a success, and remained unchanged for a few years. In 2011, First
Cardinal LLC sold to an international insurance firm as part of a larger buyout.
