This document summarizes a systematic mapping study and literature review of 74 peer-reviewed articles on energy efficient technologies for virtualized cloud data centers. The study aims to evaluate approaches that optimize power consumption in virtualized data centers. A characterization framework was proposed to classify the studies based on generic attributes, contribution type and evaluation method, technological attributes, and quality management. The results showed that virtualization, consolidation, and workload scheduling are widely used techniques. Around 60% of studies contributed solutions and validation methods through experiments or theoretical models. Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling-enabled scheduling and dynamic server consolidation were identified as important methods for saving energy. The study also identified a need for standardized benchmarking to help research progress and bridge industry-academia gaps
The increasing demands on the usage of data centers especially in provisioning cloud
applications (i.e. data-intensive applications) have drastically increased the energy consumption and
becoming a critical issue. Failing to handle the increasing in energy consumption leads to the negative
impact on the environment, and also negatively affecting the cloud providers' profits due to increasing
costs. Various surveys have been carried out to address and classify energy-aware approaches and
solutions. As an active research area with increasing number of proposals, more surveys are needed to
support researchers in the research area. Thus, in this paper, we intend to provide the current state of
existing related surveys that serve as a guideline for the researchers as well as the potential reviewers to
embark into a new concern and dimension to compliment existing related surveys. Our review highlights
four main topics and concludes to some recommendations for the future survey.

We can utilise the same framework to construct new intelligent applications for industrial power distribution networks. Today, there is a demand for new applications in the industrial sector and in response to various environmental changes. Using the information in this blog, we can have a better understanding of how industrial electric systems are managed and how new applications and methods for managing distribution and monitoring industrial networks can be implemented. The topic of energy management has grown in relevance and complexity in recent years. It entails selecting from among a variety of energy sources those that can provide power to a variety of loads while reducing losses and expense. The systems response, the selection of sources, must be done in real time to minimise power outages due to the heterogeneous, distributed nature of the sources and loads. Abstract
The energy consumption of residential and commercial buildings has risen steadily in recent years, an
increase largely due to their HVAC systems. Expected energy loads, transportation, and storage as well
as user behavior influence the quantity and quality of the energy consumed daily in buildings. However,
technology is now available that can accurately monitor, collect, and store the huge amount of data involved
in this process. Furthermore, this technology is capable of analyzing and exploiting such data in meaningful
ways. Not surprisingly, the use of data science techniques to increase energy efficiency is currently attracting
a great deal of attention and interest. This paper reviews how Data Science has been applied to address the
most difficult problems faced by practitioners in the field of Energy Management, especially in the building
sector. The work also discusses the challenges and opportunities that will arise with the advent of fully
connected devices and new computational technologies.
1. Introduction
There is a general consensus in the world today that human activities are having a negative impact
on the environment and have accelerated both global warming and climate change. These environmental
threats have been intensified by the emissions produced by the energy required for the lighting and HVAC
(heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) systems in building constructions. According to the International
Energy Agency (IEA), residential and commercial buildings are responsible for up to 32% of the total final
energy consumption. In fact, in most IEA countries, they account for approximately 40% of the primary
energy consumption. Similar statistics are given by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development
(WBCSD) within the framework of its Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EEB) project1. Also provided is a
comprehensive review [1] of the state of the art in building energy use (with a primary focus on energy
demand).
These data indicate that inefficient energy management in aging buildings combined with rising construc-
tion activity in developed countries will cause energy consumption to soar in the near future and heighten the
negative impacts associated with this consumption. Moreover, variable energy costs call for the implemen-
tation of more intelligent strategies to adapt and reduce energy consumption as well as to find alternative
and sustainable energy sources. The relevance of these issues is clearly reflected in the research priorities of
the European Union, as stated in its Horizon2020 Societal Challenge “Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy”.
This work program targets a significant reduction in energy consu.
An energy optimization with improved QOS approach for adaptive cloud resources IJECEIAES
In recent times, the utilization of cloud computing VMs is extremely enhanced in our day-to-day life due to the ample utilization of digital applications, network appliances, portable gadgets, and information devices etc. In this cloud computing VMs numerous different schemes can be implemented like multimedia-signal-processing-methods. Thus, efficient performance of these cloud-computing VMs becomes an obligatory constraint, precisely for these multimedia-signal-processing-methods. However, large amount of energy consumption and reduction in efficiency of these cloud-computing VMs are the key issues faced by different cloud computing organizations. A latency-aware max-min algorithm for resource allocation in cloud IJECEIAES
Cloud computing is an emerging distributed computing paradigm. However, it requires certain initiatives that need to be tailored for the cloud environment such as the provision of an on-the-fly mechanism for providing resource availability based on the rapidly changing demands of the customers. Although, resource allocation is an important problem and has been widely studied, there are certain criteria that need to be considered. These criteria include meeting user’s quality of service (QoS) requirements. High QoS can be guaranteed only if resources are allocated in an optimal manner. This paper proposes a latency-aware max-min algorithm (LAM) for allocation of resources in cloud infrastructures. The proposed algorithm was designed to address challenges associated with resource allocation such as variations in user demands and on-demand access to unlimited resources. It is capable of allocating resources in a cloud-based environment with the target of enhancing infrastructure-level performance and maximization of profits with the optimum allocation of resources. A priority value is also associated with each user, which is calculated by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results validate the superiority for LAM due to better performance in comparison to other state-of-the-art algorithms with flexibility in resource allocation for fluctuating resource demand patterns.
Cloud computing offers to users worldwide a low cost on-demand services, according to their requirements. In the recent years, the rapid growth and service quality of cloud computing has made it an attractive technology for different Tech Companies. However with the growing number of data centers resources, high levels of energy cost are being consumed with more carbon emissions in the air. For instance, the Google data center estimation of electric power consumption is equivalent to the energy requirement of a small sized city. Also, even if the virtualization of resources in cloud computing datacenters may reduce the number of physical machines and hardware equipments cost, it is still restrained by energy consumption issue. Energy efficiency has become a major concern for today’s cloud datacenter researchers, with a simultaneous improvement of the cloud service quality and reducing operation cost. This paper analyses and discusses the literature review of works related to the contribution of energy efficiency enhancement in cloud computing datacenters. The main objective is to have the best management of the involved physical machines which host the virtual ones in the cloud datacenters.
An optimized cost-based data allocation model for heterogeneous distributed ...IJECEIAES
Continuous attempts have been made to improve the flexibility and effectiveness of distributed computing systems. Extensive effort in the fields of connectivity technologies, network programs, high processing components, and storage helps to improvise results. However, concerns such as slowness in response, long execution time, and long completion time have been identified as stumbling blocks that hinder performance and require additional attention. These defects increased the total system cost and made the data allocation procedure for a geographically dispersed setup difficult. The load-based architectural model has been strengthened to improve data allocation performance. To do this, an abstract job model is employed, and a data query file containing input data is processed on a directed acyclic graph. The jobs are executed on the processing engine with the lowest execution cost, and the system's total cost is calculated. The total cost is computed by summing the costs of communication, computation, and network. The total cost of the system will be reduced using a Swarm intelligence algorithm. In heterogeneous distributed computing systems, the suggested approach attempts to reduce the system's total cost and improve data distribution. According to simulation results, the technique efficiently lowers total system cost and optimizes partitioned data allocation.
Cloud computing has become the mainstream of the emerging technologies for information interchange and accessibility. With such systems, the information accessed from any geographic location on this planet with some decent kind of internet connection. Applying machine learning together with artificial intelligence in dealing with the problem of energy reduction in cloud data center is an innovative idea. A large combination of Artificial intelligence is playing a significant role in cloud environment. For that matter, the Big organization providers like Amazon have taken steps to ensure that they can continue to expand their fast-growing cloud services to commensurate with the fast growth of population. These companies have built large data centers in remote parts of the world to overcome a shortage of information. These centers consume significant amounts of electrical energy. There is often a lot of energy wastage. According to IDC white paper, data centers have tremendously wasted billions of energy regarding billing and cash. Additionally, researchers have argued that by the year 2020 the energy consumption rate would have doubled. Research in this area is still a hot topic. This paper seeks to address the energy efficiency issue at a Cloud Data Center using machine learning methodologies, principles, and practices.
