For all of the attention and federal funds given to renewable energy, it remains a blip on America’s energy radar: solar power represents less than 1 percent of U.S. electricity generation. Wind and solar power together generated less electricity in the first half of 2015 than in the first half of 2014, and investment in the industry has been flat for almost five years, domestically and globally.
The Importance of Renewable Energy Sources in PakistanUmair Shahzad
Pakistan has been facing acute energy crisis since last numerous years. The demand for energy is increasing rapidly in Pakistan. Energy is one of the most vital development priorities of Pakistan. The economy of Pakistan is mainly reliant on the electricity being produced by coal, oil, and natural gas. The total energy produced only makes up for a part of the total energy consumption. On the contrary, Pakistan possesses a huge potential for renewable energy sources like wind, solar, hydropower and biomass. Proper development and implementation of these alternative energy technologies can bring many benefits to the country in terms of energy, economy, environment and national security. Therefore, the key aim of this paper is to present the current energy situation and potential of renewable energy sources in Pakistan and link these factors with economy and business priorities.

Renewable Energy Sources Can Satisfy Energy Demands
Renewable Energy

"A fully sustainable renewable power supply is the only way we can secure energy for all and avoid environmental catastrophe."
The following viewpoint is an extract from a report undertaken by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Ecofys (a consulting firm for sustainable energy projects), and the Office for Metropolitan Architecture. The viewpoint summarizes the findings of an Ecofys study that predicted the world can switch from
fossil fuels
to a fully
renewable energy
future by 2050. According to the study, most energy will be electricity-based, and that energy will be supplied chiefly by solar power.
Wind power
, geothermal heat, and water power will also serve to create electricity and heat homes. Finally the Ecofys scenario argues that biofuels will be needed to power some transport systems and industrial processes that require liquid fuels. According to the WWF and Ecofys, the renewables-driven future will save money, stall
climate change
, and create a sustainable energy system.
As you read, consider the following questions:
According to the WWF, by what percent does the International Energy Agency predict oil and gas reserves will fall by 2030?
What percent of the world's energy needs does Ecofys claim can be satisfied by renewables in 2050?
Why does Ecofys's scenario only provide for a small increase in hydropower by 2050?
The way we produce and use energy today is not sustainable. Our main fossil fuel sources—oil,
coal
and gas—are finite natural resources, and we are depleting them at a rapid rate. Furthermore they are the main contributors to climate change, and the race to the last 'cheap' fossil resources evokes disasters for the natural environment as seen recently in the case of the [2010] BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. In the developing world, regional and local desertification is caused by depletion of fuelwood and other biomass sources that are often used very inefficiently, causing substantive indoor
pollution
and millions of deaths annually. A fully sustainable renewable power supply is the only way we can secure energy for all and avoid environmental catastrophe.
Risks and Harms of Fossil Fuels
While most of us take energy for granted as a basic right, a fifth of the world's population still has no access to reliable electricity—drastically reducing their chances of getting an education and earning a living. As energy prices increase, the world's poor will continue to be excluded.
At the same time, more than 2.7 billion people are dependent on traditional bioenergy (mainly from wood, crop residues and animal dung) as their main source of cooking and heating fuel. This is often harvested unsustainably, causing soil erosion and increasing the risk of flooding, as well as threatening biodiversity and adding to greenhouse gas
emissions

THE FUTURE OF ENERGY REQUIRED FOR THE WORLD.pdfFaga1939
This article aims to present what the future would require for the production and consumption of energy in the world based on the use of clean and renewable energy. To avoid the catastrophic future that is predicted for humanity resulting from global warming, it is imperative, among other measures, to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by replacing the current global energy matrix based fundamentally on fossil fuels (coal , oil and natural gas) and in nuclear energy, by another global energy matrix structured based on renewable energy resources (hydroelectricity, biomass, solar energy, wind energy and hydrogen) to avoid or minimize global warming and, consequently, the occurrence of catastrophic changes in the Earth's climate. Regardless of the various solutions that may be adopted to eliminate or mitigate the causes of the greenhouse effect, the most important action is, without a doubt, the adoption of measures that contribute to the elimination or reduction of the consumption of fossil fuels in energy production, as well as such as the more efficient use of energy in transport, industry, agriculture and cities (residences and commerce), given that the use and production of energy are responsible for 57% of greenhouse gases emitted by human activity. In this sense, the implementation of a sustainable energy system is essential. A sustainable energy system will only be possible if, in addition to abandoning fossil fuels, energy efficiency is also greatly improved.
Policymakers around the globe have recognized the challenges of climate changes, even though 80% of energy supplies today is dependent on depleting non-renewable energy, globally (Wüstenhagen and Menichetti, 2012). However, fossil fuels and its efficiencies are very much dependent upon cutting–edge technologies and also maximizing the utilization of tertiary methods like enhanced oil recovery (EOR) utilizing CO2 that must provide comprehensive solutions to maximize its revenue and shareholder values going forward (Simkins and Simkins, 2013).

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Energy crisis : Media & Current Affairs : Student Collaboration
1.
2.
3. o What is Energy crisis?
o causes of energy crisis in pakistan
o sources of energy in pakistan
o Energy crisis effects
o Energy crisis prevention
o Conclusion
4. The energy crisis stems from the foreseeable end of the
cycle of oil, gas and coal, which, in addition, have been
producing a considerable increase in greenhouse gases
(GHG).
In recent years, many scientists have raised their voice to
warn about climate change, caused notably by the burning
of oil and coal in order to produce energy.
5. An energy crisis is any great blockage in supply of energy
resources to an economy. It often refers to a decrease in the
supply of electricity as compared to its demand. None can deny
the importance of energy in today’s world. Energy drives man’s
domestic life, industry, agriculture, and his automobiles, etc.
Whenever there is a storage of energy all walks of life are
affected. Pakistan face a severe energy crisis these days. Present
energy crisis has passed all the previous ones. Pakistan has
installed capacity of about 19500MW.
6. The current energy crisis began to manifest itself in earnest by
late 2007. Although the causes of the crisis are structural, the
immediate trigger was the 2007 global commodity price boom,
when oil prices almost tripled over an 18-month period.
The challenge is load shedding electricity is a sign of energy
crisis in pakistan .The reason is simply the demand of electricity
exceeds supply by 5,000 MW in pakistan
7.
8. Energycrisiscauses :
Global energy consumption is increasing and we will face a shortage of fossil
fuels in the coming decades. Therefore, the availability of reserves is an
important source of concern.
OVERCONSUMPTION:
Our current consumption model relies almost entirely on the use of non-
renewable energy sources such as oil, gas, coal and uranium. At the current rate
of consumption, oil will be the first fossil fuel to run out. According to
projections, there would be between 40 and 60 years of proven reserves of
conventional oil. Natural gas could be exploited for another 70 years. For coal,
there would be around two centuries of reserves.
9. OVERPOPULATION
These data are to be put into perspective because they
are based on current consumption, while it is clear that
it will increase considerably. Energy demands are and
will be amplified by the demographic - the world’s
population should reach nearly 10 billion people in
2050 - and economic boom of growing areas.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA),
global energy demand could increase by more than
50% by 2030 in the absence of public policies in this
area.
10. AGING INFRASTRUCTURE
Another reason for energy shortage and
scarcity is the poor infrastructure of power
generating equipment. Most of energy
producing companies keep on using
outdated equipments that limits energy
production. The need to upgrade the
infrastructure and set a high standard of
performance is critical.
11. a
ENERGY WASTE
Mainly coming from the unnecessary use of
energy resources, energy waste describes
the wastage of energy sources, in particular
fuels and electricity. Consequently, the
reduction of waste is a colossal source of
energy savings, which requires actions both
on an individual and collective level.
12.
13. The massive use of traditional energy sources
leads - among other things - to the increase of
greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon
dioxide (CO2), resulting in global warming and
harming the environment and biodiversity.
Therefore, the energy crisis is closely linked to the
environmental crisis.
14. ECONOMIC AND SOCIO-POLITICAL
Energy security is one of the major concerns of
the main economic centers of the planet. In fact,
energy conditions the possibility of growth, which
is essential to the market economy and its
development model. The energy crisis could thus
have a dramatic impact on the global economy.
Besides, when energy markets fail, an energy
shortage develops. Energy shortages and
resulting economic factors may create socio-
political issues.
20. Unlike fossil fuels, some energy sources are
totally renewable, and do not emit greenhouse
gases. These clean and sustainable alternative
energy solutions include solar energy,
hydropower, wind energy, geothermal energy
and biomass energy.
21. 2. Energy efficiency and
conservation
In order to prevent an energy crisis, it is also
crucial that we consume less energy by
improving and modernising energy
infrastructure such as smart grid solutions,
and smart cities. It is also important that we
replace old devices by energy efficient
solutions, such as replacing traditional light
bulbs by LEDs.
22. o Pakistan is blessed and rich with resources.
o Polices should be implemented now.
o Policies should not change with the change in
Government.
o We can even export energy if we produce it at
optimum level.
