1
1- CONVENTIONAL METHOD (IEC 60270 MEASURING METHOD)
In this method, a Coupling capacitor as well as measuring impedance (CIL) used
as coupling unit to pick up PD pulses from energized test object. After
amplification of PD signals through RPA amplifier, ICMcompact (main measuring
device) will show any PD activity in test object. Before application of HV voltage,
background noise will be recorded. After energization, any significant change in
PD values (as well as PD pattern) will be reported for further analysis.

2- ACOUSTIC EMISION (AE) MEASURING METHOD
Ultrasonic sensor is an active sensor with very high sensitivity for measurements
on GIS or high voltage cable systems. This sensor can be mounted on external
surface of GIS casings of cable join. It comes with a built-in 40 dB preamplifier
and can be connected to the RPA1G amplifier, or directly to the ICMcompact
(main PD detector). This measuring method will be used as complementary way
to conventional method. Also, it is helpful to locate PD source in GIS bays or cable
systems.
Also, our company owns an ultrasonic detector as well as parabolic antenna to
detect external corona discharge.

3- INDUCTIVE MEASURING METHOD
High Frequency Current Transformers (HFCT) are inductive sensors for partial
discharge measurements. These sensors are suitable for online and off-line PD
tests on many electrical systems (cables, GIS, transformers, etc.). HFCT has to be
placed in the screen of the system to be tested. Our company owns HFCTs with
different frequency band and different internal diameters.

4- UHF MEASURING METHOD
Nowadays Ultra High Frequency (UHF) partial discharge measurement in GIS
substations and transformers is a common diagnostic method for of these
components. UHF measurement needs UHF sensors and wide band measuring
devices capable of detecting in frequency range of GHz. UHF sensors can be
internal type (built-in) or external type. EMELEC can provide PD measurement
for GIS/transformers with built-in UHF sensors.

5-ELECTRMAGNETIC MEASURING METHOD (PryCam)
Emelec owns PryCam testing device. This portable sensor is specifically designed
for on-line in-field measurements. PryCam Portable can used to perform PD
measurements on most HV components by using the same setup and operating
procedure. Some of these test setups are shown as following.
