1-PMG: Permanent magnet generator
Is a generator which the excitation is from permanent magnet not a coil.
2-MCB: Miniature Circuit Breaker
is a circuit breaker is used instead of fuse because it can open the circuit when
there is a huge current and return to close when the huge current’s
disappears.
3-RTD: Resistance Temperature Detector
In this sensor varies according to temperature
Q2)What are the differences between Demand factor
and load factor?
Demand factor : is a ratio less than one and it is variable with
the total connected load
D.F=(Maximum demand (/Total connected load
Load factor : is a ratio less than one
L.F = load (kw/hours( /maximum load (kw/hours(
Q3)what is meant by CT burden = 10 VA?
This mean that the maximum load applied to
the secondary of current transformer is
equal 10 VA
Q4)What is the function of AVR?
Automatic voltage regulation:
Is used for making the voltage is nearly
constant by controlling the field excitation
of the generator
Q5)what are the advantages and disadvantages of speed
control of 3 phase induction motor by varying frequency
explain with drawing?
Advantages:
1-Wide speed control range.
2-Smooth method
3-More senstive method
Disadvantages:
1-High cost
2-High harmonic
3–It may go to saturation
Q6)what is the voltage level which is used in
transformer short circuit test?
In short circuit test we feed the high voltage
side by low level voltage until we reach the
rated current to calculate cupper losses
and (R – X – Z)
Q7) how to control P , Q , V , F in power
generator , explain?
The active power (P) is related with the
frequency (F) so if we control frequency by
controlling speed by using speed governer
so we can control both (F & P) .
Also the reactive power (Q) is related with
the current of excitation ( V) so if we
control the voltage v by using AVR it
controls (Q).

The contactor has two main parts:
Power contact : connected with the power of the
system and motors.

on power transformer and identify its parameters and draw
C/C curve of it?
E/F protection
Q11)two pumps must work with them at the same time but
if the first pump start the second pump must delayed for
some time to start , with motor rated power = 90 KW and
rated voltage = 380 V and rated power factor = 0.85 lag
please draw the power and control circuit for it and
determine all circuit components parameters that you
use it
