The document discusses a study evaluating the efficacy of punch trabeculectomy in treating different types of glaucoma. Forty-six eyes of 41 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PNAG), or acute congestive glaucoma underwent punch trabeculectomy surgery. The mean baseline and target intraocular pressures (IOP) were established for each patient based on diurnal measurements and individual risk factors. Post-operative follow ups evaluated IOP control and visual field scores to further adjust target IOP levels as needed to reduce glaucoma progression.

This document presents a method for segmenting the optic disc from retinal fundus images for glaucoma screening. It begins with acquiring fundus images using a fundus camera. The optic disc is then localized by detecting the brightest region in the green color channel. Segmentation of the optic disc is performed using a bit plane technique on the red color channel. Finally, blood vessels are removed from the segmented optic disc region. The proposed method was tested on public and local fundus image databases to automatically segment the optic disc for glaucoma screening and analysis of the cup-to-disc ratio.

Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease in which the optic nerve head is progressively damaged which leads to loss of
vision. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to preserving sight in people with glaucoma. Current tests using
intraocular pressure (IOP) are not sensitive enough for population based glaucoma screening. Assessment of the
damaged optic nerve head is both more promising, and superior to IOP measurement or visual field testing. This paper
presents superpixel classification based optic disc and optic cup segmentation for glaucoma screening. In optic disc
segmentation, histograms and centre surround statistics are used to classify each superpixel as disc or non-disc. For optic
cup segmentation, in addition to the histograms and centre surround statistics, the location information is also included
into the feature space to boost the performance. The segmented optic disc and optic cup are used to compute the CDR
for glaucoma screening. The Cup to Disc Ratio (CDR) of the color retinal fundus camera image is the primary identifier
to confirm Glaucoma given patient.

This study compared spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and fundus autofluorescence (FAF) for grading geographic atrophy (GA) in age-related macular degeneration. Two graders manually measured GA lesion size using SD-OCT and FAF in 81 eyes. SD-OCT measurements of choroidal signal enhancement and loss of outer retinal layers correlated closely with areas of decreased FAF. SD-OCT also more accurately identified foveal involvement than FAF. The study demonstrates SD-OCT can reliably quantify GA lesion size and progression in a reproducible manner.
Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Emulsion for Dry Eye Disease
Two randomized controlled trials compared the efficacy and safety of cyclosporine 0.05% and 0.10% ophthalmic emulsions to their vehicle in treating moderate to severe dry eye disease. Both concentrations of cyclosporine significantly improved corneal staining and blurred vision compared to vehicle after 4-6 months. Cyclosporine was well tolerated with few discontinuing due to adverse events. The studies found topical cyclosporine effective and safe for treating dry eye disease.

This study investigated the correlation between fundus autofluorescence (FAF), optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings, and visual acuity in 42 patients with branch retinal vein occlusion treated with intravitreal bevacizumab. The results showed that better pre-treatment visual acuity and less FAF were associated with better post-treatment visual acuity. Preservation of the photoreceptor inner and outer segment junction and external limiting membrane on pre- and post-OCT were also correlated with better post-treatment visual acuity. Less FAF and shorter disruptions of these photoreceptor structures before treatment may help predict potential visual recovery with this treatment.

SURVEY OF GLAUCOMA DETECTION METHODS
GLAUCOMA is a chronic eye disease that can damage optic nerve. According to WHO It
is the second leading cause of blindness, and is predicted to affect around 80 million people by 2020.
Development of the disease leads to loss of vision, which occurs increasingly over a long period of
time. As the symptoms only occur when the disease is quite advanced so that glaucoma is called the
silent thief of sight. Glaucoma cannot be cured, but its development can be slowed down by
treatment. Therefore, detecting glaucoma in time is critical. However, many glaucoma patients are
unaware of the disease until it has reached its advanced stage. In this paper, some manual and
automatic methods are discussed to detect glaucoma. Manual analysis of the eye is time consuming
and the accuracy of the parameter measurements also varies with different clinicians. To overcome
these problems with manual analysis, the objective of this survey is to introduce a method to
automatically analyze the ultrasound images of the eye. Automatic analysis of this disease is much
more effective than manual analysis.

This study examined the correlation between central corneal thickness (CCT) and results from Frequency Doubling Technology Perimetry (FDT) in 180 patients aged 40 or older with high intraocular pressure (IOP) but normal optic discs. The average CCT across both eyes was 531 microns. Abnormal FDT results were found in 18 subjects, who had thinner average CCT of 519 microns, compared to 532 microns in 162 subjects with normal FDT results. The study concludes that among patients with high IOP but normal discs, thicker corneas are associated with a lower risk of early glaucomatous damage detected by FDT, compared to patients with thinner corneas.

The document presents a new approach for detecting glaucoma using optic disk and incremental cup segmentation from retinal images. It proposes segmenting the optic disk using an automatic parameterized technique and modeling the cup region as enclosing pallor enclosed by vessel bends (r-bends). An incremental cup segmentation method uses 3D spline interpolation to derive the cup boundary considering anatomical knowledge from glaucoma experts. Results are compared to existing methods on different retinal images and show improved cup segmentation, especially in regions without depth cues where inter-observer variability is high. The approach integrates appearance and anatomical information for more accurate glaucoma assessment through optic disk and cup segmentation.

This document presents a method for detecting glaucoma from retinal images using convolutional neural networks. Glaucoma causes irreversible blindness if not detected early. Existing methods use hand-crafted feature extraction and classification techniques, but deep learning methods can learn discriminative features automatically. The proposed system uses a CNN for automated glaucoma detection. It extracts the optic cup and disc as regions of interest from preprocessed images. Features like cup-to-disc ratio are then used to classify images as healthy or glaucomatous using the CNN. The CNN architecture includes convolutional, pooling and fully connected layers with ReLU and sigmoid activation functions. Abstract Headlights of vehicles pose a great danger during night driving. The drivers of most vehicles use high, bright beam while driving at night. This causes a discomfort to the person travelling from the opposite direction. He experiences a sudden glare for a short period of time. This is caused due to the high intense headlight beam from the other vehicle coming towards him from the opposite direction. We are expected to dim the headlight to avoid this glare. This glare causes a temporary blindness to a person resulting in road accidents during the night. To avoid such incidents, we have fabricated a prototype of automatic headlight dimmer. This automatically switches the high beam into low beam thus reducing the glare effect by sensing the approaching vehicle. It also eliminates the requirement of manual switching by the driver which is not done at all times. Automated Glaucoma Detection
This document describes a student project that aims to develop a computer-based method for diagnosing glaucoma using digital fundus images. The student extracted various texture and intensity features from fundus images of normal and glaucomatous eyes. These features were classified using a probabilistic neural network classifier to distinguish between normal and glaucoma cases. The overall goal was to apply image processing techniques to analyze fundus images and detect glaucoma in an automated manner. Testing achieved an accuracy of 95.83% in classifying images as normal or glaucoma. The project was supervised by Dr. Rajendra Acharya and involved analyzing fundus images obtained from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India.

Unique lesions were more common in PXE patients, including outer retinal tubulation (ORT) seen in 70.5% of eyes with CNV secondary to AS vs 34.1% of AMD eyes, and Bruch's membrane undulation seen in 70.8% vs 11.4% respectively. ORT appeared as round or ovoid structures beneath the outer plexiform layer.

This document describes an automated method for detecting features in retinal images that can help diagnose diabetic retinopathy. It first extracts blood vessels at multiple scales using morphological operations. It then detects exudates by finding bright regions with sharp edges using dilation across scales. The optic disk is localized by finding the intersection of major blood vessels. Microaneurysms and hemorrhages are detected using morphological filters exploiting their local dark patch property. Evaluation on 516 images achieved 97.1% optic disk localization, 95.7% sensitivity and 94.2% specificity for exudate detection, and 95.1% sensitivity and 90.5% specificity for microaneurysm/hemorrhage detection.

algorithm was tested fundus images. The Operating Characteristics (ROC) was determined for red spot lesion
and bleeding, while cross over points were only detected leaving further classification as part of future work

This document presents a method for detecting glaucoma from retinal images using convolutional neural networks. Glaucoma causes irreversible blindness if not detected early. Existing methods use hand-crafted feature extraction and classification techniques, but deep learning methods can learn discriminative features automatically. The proposed system uses a CNN for automated glaucoma detection. It extracts the optic cup and disc as regions of interest from preprocessed images. Features like cup-to-disc ratio are then used to classify images as healthy or glaucomatous using the CNN. The CNN architecture includes convolutional, pooling and fully connected layers with ReLU and sigmoid activation functions. Abstract Headlights of vehicles pose a great danger during night driving. The drivers of most vehicles use high, bright beam while driving at night. This causes a discomfort to the person travelling from the opposite direction. He experiences a sudden glare for a short period of time. This is caused due to the high intense headlight beam from the other vehicle coming towards him from the opposite direction. We are expected to dim the headlight to avoid this glare. This glare causes a temporary blindness to a person resulting in road accidents during the night. To avoid such incidents, we have fabricated a prototype of automatic headlight dimmer. This automatically switches the high beam into low beam thus reducing the glare effect by sensing the approaching vehicle. It also eliminates the requirement of manual switching by the driver which is not done at all times. Automated Glaucoma Detection
This document describes a student project that aims to develop a computer-based method for diagnosing glaucoma using digital fundus images. The student extracted various texture and intensity features from fundus images of normal and glaucomatous eyes. These features were classified using a probabilistic neural network classifier to distinguish between normal and glaucoma cases. The overall goal was to apply image processing techniques to analyze fundus images and detect glaucoma in an automated manner. Testing achieved an accuracy of 95.83% in classifying images as normal or glaucoma. Investigation of deformation of the cornea during tonometry using FEM
A three-dimensional finite element model of the human eye is developed to evaluate the force which will be applied over the surface of cornea during tonometry and gonioscopy tests. The standard tonometers and gonioscopy experiences deformation from 0.5mm to 3mm of the cornea is adopted during both point contact and boundary contact on the surface of the cornea. The results demonstrate the maximum force experienced by the tonometer with point contact at the center of the cornea for the maximum possible deformation of the cornea during tonometry. The study also analyzes for the force experienced by the tonometer or goniolens with boundary layer contact for the defined deformation of the cornea along the direction from cornea towards the retina.

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases characterized by optic nerve damage often associated with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). Risk factors include increased IOP, age, family history, race, and diabetes. Goals of treatment are to lower IOP, control IOP fluctuation over 24 hours, and preserve vision while balancing medication efficacy and side effects. Common glaucoma drug classes lower IOP by decreasing aqueous humor production or increasing outflow, and are dosed 1-3 times daily with possible side effects like redness, fatigue, and drowsiness. Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and N0-12 (rank=1), thrombocytes/CC (rank=2), segmented neutrophils/CC (3), eosinophils/CC (4), erythrocytes/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), stick neutrophils/CC (8), leucocytes/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (error=0.000; area under ROC curve=1.0).
