This document presents a method for detecting glaucoma from retinal images using convolutional neural networks. Glaucoma causes irreversible blindness if not detected early. Existing methods use hand-crafted feature extraction and classification techniques, but deep learning methods can learn discriminative features automatically. The proposed system uses a CNN for automated glaucoma detection. It extracts the optic cup and disc as regions of interest from preprocessed images. Features like cup-to-disc ratio are then used to classify images as healthy or glaucomatous using the CNN. The CNN architecture includes convolutional, pooling and fully connected layers with ReLU and sigmoid activation functions. This fully automated deep learning approach can detect glaucoma even in early stages from fundus images
Glaucoma Detection in Retinal Images Using Image Processing Techniques: A SurveyEswar Publications
Glaucoma is a disease associated with human eyes and second conducting movement o fblindness across the globe if
eyes are not treated at preliminary stage. Glaucoma normally occurs with increased intra-ocular pressure (IOP) in eyes and gradually damagesthe vision field of eyes. The term ocular-hypertension is related to those people in whom IOP increases consistently and does not damage the optic nerve. Glaucoma has different types such as open-angle, close-angle, congenital, normal tension and etcetera. Normal tension glaucoma affects vision field and damages optic nerve as well. The term angle means the distance between iris and cornea; if this distance is large it is referred to as open-angle glaucoma and similarly if the distance between iris and cornea is short than this is called close-angle glaucoma. Open-angle glaucoma is common as compared to close-angle glaucoma. Close-angle glaucoma is very painful and affects vision field of eyes quickly as compared to open-angle glaucoma. In this
paper, the state of the art CAD systems and image processing methods are studied and compared systematically in terms of their classification accuracy, methodology approach, sensitivity and specificity. The comparison results indicate that the accuracy of these CAD systems and image processing methods is not up to the mark.

VEHICLE DENSITY CONTROLLED AUTOMATIC TRAFFIC LIGHT from KMP Engineering collegeHIGHVOLTEEE
ABSTRACT
The project is designed to develop a density based dynamic traffic signal
system. The signal timing changes automatically on sensing the traffic density
at the junction. Traffic congestion is a severe problem in many major cities
across the world and it has become a nightmare for the commuters in these
cities. Conventional traffic light system is based on fixed time concept allotted
to each side of the junction which cannot be varied as per varying traffic
density. Junction timings allotted are fixed. Sometimes higher traffic density at
one side of the junction demands longer green time as compared to standard
allotted time. The proposed system using a microcontroller of 8051 series duly
interfaced with sensors, changes the junction timing automatically to
accommodate movement of vehicles smoothly avoiding unnecessary waiting
time at the junction. The sensors used in this project are IR and photodiodes are
in line of sight configuration across the loads to detect the density at the traffic
signal. The density of the vehicles is measured in three zones i.e., low, medium,
high based on which timings are allotted accordingly. Further the project can
be enhanced by synchronizing all the traffic junctions in the city by establishing
a network among them. The network can be wired or wireless. This
synchronization will greatly help in reducing traffic congestion.
Real Time Eye Blinking and Yawning Detectionijtsrd
Detecting eye blink and yawning is important, for example in systems that monitor the vigilance of the human operator, eg Driver's drowsiness. Driver fatigue is one of the leading causes of the worlds deadliest road accidents. This shows that in the transport sector in particular, where a driver of heavy vehicles is often open to hours of monotonous driving which causes fatigue without frequent rest periods. It is therefore essential to design a road accident prevention system that can detect the drivers drowsiness, determine the drivers level of carelessness and warn when an imminent danger occurs. In this article, we propose a real time system that uses eye detection techniques, blinking and yawning. The system is designed as a non intrusive real time monitoring system. The priority is to improve driver safety without being intrusive. In this work, the blink of an eye and the drivers yawn are detected. If the drivers eyes remain closed for more than a certain time and the drivers mouth is open to yawning, the driver is said to be fatigue. When driving long distances, drivers who do not take frequent rests are more likely to get sleepy, a condition that experts say they often fail to identify early enough. Based on eye condition, this research proposes a system for detecting driver sleepiness in real time. A camera is often used to take a sequence of images by the system. In our system, these capture images may be saved as individual frames. The resulting frame is sent into facial recognition software as an input. The image's needed feature (eye) is then extracted. The method creates a condition for each eye and suggests a certain number of frames with the same condition that can be registered.

Drowsy driving is one of the major causes of road accidents and death. Hence, detection of
driver’s fatigue and its indication is an active research area. Most of the conventional methods are
either vehicle based, or behavioral based or physiological based. Few methods are intrusive and
distract the driver, some require expensive sensors and data handling. Therefore, in this study, a low
cost, real time driver’s drowsiness detection system is developed with acceptable accuracy. In the
developed system, a webcam records the video and driver’s face is detected in each frame employing
image processing techniques. Facial landmarks on the detected face are pointed and subsequently the
eye aspect ratio, mouth opening ratio and nose length ratio are computed and depending on their
values, drowsiness is detected based on developed adaptive thresholding. Machine learning
algorithms have been implemented as well in an offline manner. A sensitivity of 95.58% and
specificity of 100% has been achieved in Support Vector Machine based classification.

Detection of Glaucoma using Optic Disk and Incremental Cup Segmentation from ...theijes
Medical researchers, detection of eye disease is very important because it may causes blindness. Glaucoma is one of the diseases that cause blindness. Standard procedure for detection glaucoma is to analysis of optic disk (OD) and cup region in retinal image. In this paper, introduce an automatic OD parameterized technique which is based on segmentation and Incremental Cup segmentation. The incremental cup segmentation method is based on anatomical evidence such as vessel bends at the cup boundary, considered relevant by glaucoma experts. Bends in a vessel are robustly detected using a region of support concept, which automatically selects the right scale for analysis. A multi-stage strategy is applied to derive a reliable subset of vessel bends called r-bends followed by a local 2-D spline fitting to derive the desired cup boundary. The results are compared with existing methods using different retinal images.

Automated fundus image quality assessment and segmentation of optic disc usin...IJECEIAES
An automated fundus image analysis is used as a tool for the diagnosis of common retinal diseases. A good quality fundus image results in better diagnosis and hence discarding the degraded fundus images at the time of screening itself provides an opportunity to retake the adequate fundus photographs, which save both time and resources. In this paper, we propose a novel fundus image quality assessment (IQA) model using the convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the quality of optic disc (OD) visibility. We localize the OD by transfer learning with Inception v-3 model. Precise segmentation of OD is done using the GrabCut algorithm. Contour operations are applied to the segmented OD to approximate it to the nearest circle for finding its center and diameter. For training the model, we are using the publicly available fundus databases and a private hospital database. We have attained excellent classification accuracy for fundus IQA on DRIVE, CHASE-DB, and HRF databases. For the OD segmentation, we have experimented our method on DRINS-DB, DRISHTI-GS, and RIMONE v.3 databases and compared the results with existing state-of-the-art methods. Our proposed method outperforms existing methods for OD segmentation on Jaccard index and F-score metrics.
An effective deep learning network for detecting and classifying glaucomatous...IJECEIAES
Glaucoma is a well-known complex disease of the optic nerve that gradually damages eyesight due to the increase of intraocular pressure inside the eyes. Among two types of glaucoma, open-angle glaucoma is mostly happened by high intraocular pressure and can damage the eyes temporarily or sometimes permanently, another one is angle-closure glaucoma. Therefore, being diagnosed in the early stage is necessary to safe our vision. There are several ways to detect glaucomatous eyes like tonometry, perimetry, and gonioscopy but require time and expertise. Using deep learning approaches could be a better solution. This study focused on the recognition of open-angle affected eyes from the fundus images using deep learning techniques. The study evolved by applying VGG16, VGG19, and ResNet50 deep neural network architectures for classifying glaucoma positive and negative eyes. The experiment was executed on a public dataset collected from Kaggle; however, every model performed better after augmenting the dataset, and the accuracy was between 93% and 97.56%. Among the three models, VGG19 achieved the highest accuracy at 97.56%.

The Impact of Digital Media on the Decentralization of Power and the Erosion ...ijtsrd
The impact of digital media on the distribution of power and the weakening of traditional gatekeepers has gained considerable attention in recent years. The adoption of digital technologies and the internet has resulted in declining influence and power for traditional gatekeepers such as publishing houses and news organizations. Simultaneously, digital media has facilitated the emergence of new voices and players in the media industry. Digital medias impact on power decentralization and gatekeeper erosion is visible in several ways. One significant aspect is the democratization of information, which enables anyone with an internet connection to publish and share content globally, leading to citizen journalism and bypassing traditional gatekeepers. Another aspect is the disruption of conventional media industry business models, as traditional organizations struggle to adjust to the decrease in advertising revenue and the rise of digital platforms. Alternative business models, such as subscription models and crowdfunding, have become more prevalent, leading to the emergence of new players. Overall, the impact of digital media on the distribution of power and the weakening of traditional gatekeepers has brought about significant changes in the media landscape and the way information is shared. Further research is required to fully comprehend the implications of these changes and their impact on society. The Role of Mentoring and Its Influence on the Effectiveness of the Teaching ...ijtsrd
This paper reports on a study which was conducted to investigate the role of mentoring and its influence on the effectiveness of the teaching of Physics in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. The study adopted the convergent parallel mixed methods design, focusing on respondents in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected, analysed separately, and the results were compared to see if the findings confirm or disconfirm each other. The quantitative analysis found that majority of the respondents 72 of Physics teachers affirmed that they had more experienced colleagues as mentors to help build their confidence, improve their teaching, and help them improve their effectiveness and efficiency in guiding learners’ achievements. Only 28 of the respondents disagreed with these statements. With majority respondents 72 agreeing with the statements, it implies that in most secondary schools, experienced Physics teachers act as mentors to build teachers’ confidence in teaching and improving students’ learning. The interview qualitative data analysis summarized how secondary school Principals use meetings with mentors and mentees to promote mentorship in the school milieu. This has helped strengthen teachers’ classroom practices in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. With the results confirming each other, the study recommends that mentoring should focus on helping teachers employ social interactions and instructional practices feedback and clarity in teaching that have direct measurable impact on students’ learning achievements. Design Simulation and Hardware Construction of an Arduino Microcontroller Bas...ijtsrd
This study primarily focuses on the design of a high side buck converter using an Arduino microcontroller. The converter is specifically intended for use in DC DC applications, particularly in standalone solar PV systems where the PV output voltage exceeds the load or battery voltage. To evaluate the performance of the converter, simulation experiments are conducted using Proteus Software. These simulations provide insights into the input and output voltages, currents, powers, and efficiency under different state of charge SoC conditions of a 12V,70Ah rechargeable lead acid battery. Additionally, the hardware design of the converter is implemented, and practical data is collected through operation, monitoring, and recording. By comparing the simulation results with the practical results, the efficiency and performance of the designed converter are assessed. The findings indicate that while the buck converter is suitable for practical use in standalone PV systems, its efficiency is compromised due to a lower output current. Sustainable Energy by Paul A. Adekunte | Matthew N. O. Sadiku | Janet O. Sadikuijtsrd
Energy becomes sustainable if it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Some of the definitions of sustainable energy include the considerations of environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions, social, and economic aspects such as energy poverty. Generally far more sustainable than fossil fuel are renewable energy sources such as wind, hydroelectric power, solar, and geothermal energy sources. Worthy of note is that some renewable energy projects, like the clearing of forests to produce biofuels, can cause severe environmental damage. The sustainability of nuclear power which is a low carbon source is highly debated because of concerns about radioactive waste, nuclear proliferation, and accidents. The switching from coal to natural gas has environmental benefits, including a lower climate impact, but could lead to delay in switching to more sustainable options. “Carbon capture and storage” can be built into power plants to remove the carbon dioxide CO2 emissions, but this technology is expensive and has rarely been implemented. Leading non renewable energy sources around the world is fossil fuels, coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Nuclear energy is usually considered another non renewable energy source, although nuclear energy itself is a renewable energy source, but the material used in nuclear power plants is not. The paper addresses the issue of sustainable energy, its attendant benefits to the future generation, and humanity in general. Paul A. Adekunte | Matthew N. O. Sadiku | Janet O. Concepts for Sudan Survey Act Implementations Executive Regulations and Stand...ijtsrd
This paper aims to outline the executive regulations, survey standards, and specifications required for the implementation of the Sudan Survey Act, and for regulating and organizing all surveying work activities in Sudan. The act has been discussed for more than 5 years. The Land Survey Act was initiated by the Sudan Survey Authority and all official legislations were headed by the Sudan Ministry of Justice till it was issued in 2022. The paper presents conceptual guidelines to be used for the Survey Act implementation and to regulate the survey work practice, standardizing the field surveys, processing, quality control, procedures, and the processes related to survey work carried out by the stakeholders and relevant authorities in Sudan. The conceptual guidelines are meant to improve the quality and harmonization of geospatial data and to aid decision making processes as well as geospatial information systems. The established comprehensive executive regulations will govern and regulate the implementation of the Sudan Survey Geomatics Act in all surveying and mapping practices undertaken by the Sudan Survey Authority SSA and state local survey departments for public or private sector organizations. The targeted standards and specifications include the reference frame, projection, coordinate systems, and the guidelines and specifications that must be followed in the field of survey work, processes, and mapping products. In the last few decades, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of geomatics activities and measurements on the Earths surface in space and time, together with observing and mapping the changes. In such cases, data must be captured promptly, standardized, and obtained with more accuracy and specified in much detail. The paper will also highlight the current situation in Sudan, the degree to which survey standards are used, the problems encountered, and the errors that arise from not using the standards and survey specifications. Towards the Implementation of the Sudan Interpolated Geoid Model Khartoum Sta...ijtsrd
The discussions between ellipsoid and geoid have invoked many researchers during the recent decades, especially during the GNSS technology era, which had witnessed a great deal of development but still geoid undulation requires more investigations. To figure out a solution for Sudans local geoid, this research has tried to intake the possibility of determining the geoid model by following two approaches, gravimetric and geometrical geoid model determination, by making use of GNSS leveling benchmarks at Khartoum state. The Benchmarks are well distributed in the study area, in which, the horizontal coordinates and the height above the ellipsoid have been observed by GNSS while orthometric heights were carried out using precise leveling. The Global Geopotential Model GGM represented in EGM2008 has been exploited to figure out the geoid undulation at the benchmarks in the study area. This is followed by a fitting process, that has been done to suit the geoid undulation data which has been computed using GNSS leveling data and geoid undulation inspired by the EGM2008. Two geoid surfaces were created after the fitting process to ensure that they are identical and both of them could be counted for getting the same geoid undulation with an acceptable accuracy. In this respect, statistical operation played an important role in ensuring the consistency and integrity of the model by applying cross validation techniques splitting the data into training and testing datasets for building the geoid model and testing its eligibility. The geometrical solution for geoid undulation computation has been utilized by applying straightforward equations that facilitate the calculation of the geoid undulation directly through applying statistical techniques for the GNSS leveling data of the study area to get the common equation parameters values that could be utilized to calculate geoid undulation of any position in the study area within the claimed accuracy. Both systems were checked and proved eligible to be used within the study area with acceptable accuracy which may contribute to solving the geoid undulation problem in the Khartoum area, and be further generalized to determine the geoid model over the entire country, and this could be considered in the future, for regional and continental geoid model. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Glaucoma is one of the major eye diseases that lead to
irreversible loss of vision. This damage cannot be easily
detected as glaucoma does not show any symptoms in its
early stage. An automated computer-aided system will help
ophthalmologists in early detection of glaucoma. The
existing approaches involve the extraction of the optic cup
and optic disc followed by elicitation of the properties such
as cup to disc ratio and ISNT ratio to classify glaucomatous
and healthy images.
The detailed reviews of the existingwork on computer-aided
diagnosis for glaucoma using digital fundus image are
observed that most of the algorithms follow the two-stage
structure, they are feature extraction and classification. The
Wavelet, Gabor transform, Higher order spectra (HOS), etc.,
are the most used techniques for feature extraction. In
classification, artificialneuralnetwork(ANN),supportvector
machine (SVM), K-nearest neighbour (KNN) predict
glaucoma. The design of such hand-crafted features is a
tedious job and time-consuming. Thesefeaturesarestrongly
related to expert knowledge and having restricted
representation power. It cannot show the discriminative
power for a huge dataset. Deep learning overcomes the
problem and enhances the classification. SVM classifier
achieved maximum performance of 97% accuracy for
nineteen features using 1000 fundus images. Convolutional
neural networks for glaucoma detection is based on
detecting the region of interest (ROI) from segmented
images. The proposed system is fully automated deep
learning architecture which can classify even early stage of
glaucoma. Convolution neural networks (CNN) extract the
localized features from input images and convolution is
performed with image patches using filters. Filter responses
are pooled repeatedly and re-filtered, and theoutputfeature
vector of resulting images on deep feed-forward network
architecture are eventually classified. The details of the
developed model are presented in the subsequent sections.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
Glaucoma detection from retinal images is implemented
based on CNN. CNN is the most efficient method used in
medical analysis and an effective technique to detect the
region of interest and also image classification.
Module Description
The three modules of the project are:
1. Image Pre-processing module
2. Feature Extraction module
3. Classification module
1. Image Pre-processing
Pre-processing defines the operations on images. The input
and output are intensity images. These images are of the
same kind as the original data capture.Theintensityimageis
usually represented by a matrix of image function values
such as brightness, contrast. Pre-processing improves the
image data that downscales the unwanted distortions and
enhances the image features that facilitates further
processing. The removal of noise from the image, reshaping
and resizing of an image can be considered to be apart of the
pre-processing phase.
2. Feature Extraction
This is the most crucial phase of glaucomadetection. Feature
extraction is a type of reducing the dimensions that
efficiently represents the region of interest from an entire
image vector. This approach is useful when image sizes are
large and the feature representation is required to perform
the image matching tasks and information retrieval.
Detection of Region of Interest (ROI) comes under the
feature extraction phase.
In the project, the optic cup and optic disc form of the region
of interest. The value of the cup to disc ratio is acquired from
the ROI.
3. Classification
Image classification is the task of classifying the data into
multiple classes from a spatial raster image. Image
classification is done upon analyzing the properties of
various features fromtheimages andorganizes this datainto
different categories or classes.
The fundus image taken is classified into two categories:
healthy eye, glaucomatous eye.

Convolutional Neural Network
A convolutional neural network follows a traditional neural
network approach. CNN consists of aninput, multiplehidden
layers and an output layer. The hidden layers of CNN are
typical in nature and consists of multiple functional layers.
The convolutional layers, pooling layers, fully connected
layers and normalization layers are themostused functional
layers in the hidden layers of CNN.
1. Convolutional layer
The convolutional layer can be said to be the core building
block of a CNN. Each convolutional neural network
starts with this convolutional layer. The parameters to this
layer consists of a set of learnable filters or kernels. These
kernels have a receptive field that can accept the input
volume. During the forward pass, each filter is convolved
across the dimensions of the input volume, computing a dot
product between the entries of the filter and the input. As a
result, the network is trained over the filters that activate
when it detects the feature at some spatial position in the
input.
2. Pooling layer
Convolutionalnetworks also includelocalandglobalpooling
layers. Pooling layers generally reducethedimensionsofthe
data. The reduced dimension is obtained by combining the
outputs of neuron clusters into a single neuron. Thesenewly
formed clusters are fed forward to the next layers over the
network. Local pooling combines small clusters typically of
matrix size, 2 x 2. While global pooling acts on all the
neurons of the convolutional layer. Pooling computes the
max or average value from a cluster of neurons. Max pooling
uses the maximum value at the prior layer. Average pooling
uses the average value at the prior layer.
3. Fully connected layer
The high-level reasoning in a neural network is done
through fully connected layers. Neurons in a fullyconnected
layer are connected to all activations in theprevious layer,as
in a non-convolutional artificial neural network. The
activations can be computed with matrix multiplication
followed by an offset. Fully connected layers connect each
neuron in one layer to each neuron in another layer.
Activation functions
Activation functions introduce non –linear properties to the
network. They decide if a neuron in the network has to be
activated or
not by calculating the weighted sum. The activation
functions used in the project are:
1. Rectified Linear Unit
Applying ReLU function to the feature maps to increase the
non – linearity in the network. It effectively removes the
negative values from an activation map by setting them to
zero.
g ( x ) = x+ = max ( 0 , x )
2. Sigmoid Function
A sigmoid function is a non-negative derivative, bounded,
differentiable, a real function that is defined for allrealinput
values at each point. The sigmoid function is a characteristic
and a smooth continuous function. The outputs of the
function range between -1 and 1.
CONCLUSION
The proposed computer-aided system will be a helpful way
for the early detection of glaucoma. The classification of the
fundus images as glaucomatous and healthy is based upon
the region of interest obtained after passing the image over
the convolutional neuralnetwork. Theglaucomatous images
are classified and displayed in an excel sheet.
The future work may involve extracting more parameters
from the fundus image and also predictingthestage atwhich
the eye is affected by glaucoma.
