Conventional generators require more mechanical input power when delivering electrical output power due to armature reaction, which increases the mechanical power requirement by an additional 1 MW. In contrast, ReGenX generators reverse armature reaction, requiring less mechanical input power on-load than when idling. Specifically, a conventional generator needs 2 mechanical Watts of input for every 1 Watt of electrical output, while a ReGenX generator only needs 0.4 mechanical Watts of input for every 1 Watt of electrical output.
