1. SYNCHRONOUS VS ASYNCHRONOUS
• Synchronous learning is occurs real time, an
example of which is instructor-led learning.
Synchronous learning, the exchange of ideas
and information amongst learners happens
during the same time.
• Asynchronous learning is self-paced and allows
the learners to interact and engage without
being dependent on the other learners’
participation at the same time.
• SYNCHRONOUS

rooms, webinars, etc
where learners are
working
collaboratively and
have synchronized
learning.
• ASYNCHRONOUS
• Learning the same thing

2. LINEAR LEARNING
• Linear learning is when information is given in a linear
and static manner, such as reading a book or
computer-based training (CBT). CBT can include videos,
animations, and audio clips to enhance the learning
experience.
• It typically has assessments at the end of the course to
help determine the learner’s understanding of the
topics discussed.
• The assessments are those that can be recognized and
graded immediately by a computer such as multiple
choice, or true or false questions.
• Linear learning is most common to
Westerners'. Students start at the
“beginning” of a subject & learn concepts in
“steps”. Progress in linear learning is usually
measured by how many “steps” or modules
the student completes
3. COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
• Computer-supported collaborative learning
(CSCL) uses instructional methods designed to
encourage or require students to work
together on learning tasks.

learners and teachers to work collaboratively,
discuss ideas, and share information.

What is Blended Learning
• a style of education in which students
learn via electronic and online media as
well as traditional face-to-face teaching.
Hybrid education uses online technology
to not just supplement, but transform
and improve the learning process.
The power of blended learning methods lies in
the ability to improve the student experience. It
combines the best aspects of face-to-face teaching
& online instruction in ways that enables students
to learn at their own pace. For example, a student in
a blended learning course who masters a concept
earlier than his peers can move on without having
to wait, & conversely, a student who needs more
time is not forced to move forward before fully
grasping the subject. It is proving to be a scalable
learning model that simply works for diverse
populations of students.
What is Digital Learning
• It is a learning method based on the use of
new digital tools to enable learners to learn in
a different way, whether it be face-to-face,
distance learning (asynchronous or
synchronous) or blended learning. It is
therefore not simply a question of digitizing
educational content but of a set of
educational methods.
• Digital learning is any kind of
learning that employs
technology. It is part of the
everyday life of students,
often in the form of

• Multimedia
• Online games
• Mobile phones
• When we refer to digital learning, what we mean is the
process of being a participant of a teaching of any topic
through the use of technology and most of the time
using the internet. Digital learning can take form in a
blog, a video, a real-time lecture or seminar or even
just an audio file.
• Digital learning will include at least one piece of
technology such as a computer, laptop or mobile
phone. It's also often synonymous with distant learning
which refers to those studying away from a school,
college or university. The Open University is a great
example of distance learning and if all the lessons are
completed using technology, then this would also be
considered digital learning.
• Digital learning has some amazing advantages!
Two of the most notable advantages is the
opportunity for people to study the same content
that others have without having to be present in
a location or signing up for a full course that can
cost a lot of money. It often eliminates the need
for people to travel as they can access their
studying material from wherever they are
regardless of location.
• Digital learning also means that the people who
are enrolled in digital learning courses and
education must have some level of digital literacy
for them to be able to complete their studies
successfully.

• Using different media and different
technology to engage the different

• Technology should also provide
assistance and support to instructors
during the teaching and learning
process. The use of technology should
enhance the manner by which teachers
instruct, mentor, collaborate and engage
with their learners.
4. Improve Learning Outcomes
• If no improvements are made with
the adoption of new technology,
then there is no point utilizing any
technology.
5. Consider Implementation
• Implementation should be “considered”
means additionally that there is an
assessment loop built into the process it
effectiveness of the technology used
must be assessed in order for the
effective technology to be repeated and
the ineffective technology to be
discarded.
