Case Scenario 2
Summary
Jeremy is unhappy because of the many tuitions
and assignments arranged by his mother, the
ridicule and neglect by his peers, and the way
his teacher reacted towards his restlessness in
his studies. He is also unable to do what he
likes.
He is also always alone and lonely as he does
not have any friends, and he hardly see his
parents due to their busy work schedule.
Case Scenario 2
He is under stress by his parents as they have
high expectation for him to do well in school since
he is attending so many extra classes.
As such, Jeremy may develop low sense of self,
low self-believe which will affect his self-esteem.
Low self esteem will also cause him to think that
he is incapable in many area, which may result in
him to not make an effort to try or to give up
entirely.
His low self-esteem may also stop him from trying
to make friends as he will have negative thoughts
that he is not accepted and that no one wants to
be friends with him.
Problem Statement
As beginning teachers, providing support in
building positive relationships between students
with parents, peers, and teachers are
important. Through active communication with
parents, teachers will understand the student
better and learn the different types of parenting
style adopted by them and it's impact on the
student's development. In addition, teachers
should respect the child as a learner and
understand their social environment as it will
affect their development and academic
achievement.

parents so that they would have good
understanding of both the parent and student.
3. Are there other ways which will help a teacher
in understanding his/her student better?

ways?

  • 2. Case Scenario 2 Summary Jeremy is unhappy because of the many tuitions and assignments arranged by his mother, the ridicule and neglect by his peers, and the way his teacher reacted towards his restlessness in his studies. He is also unable to do what he likes. He is also always alone and lonely as he does not have any friends, and he hardly see his parents due to their busy work schedule.
  • 3. Case Scenario 2 He is under stress by his parents as they have high expectation for him to do well in school since he is attending so many extra classes. As such, Jeremy may develop low sense of self, low self-believe which will affect his self-esteem. Low self esteem will also cause him to think that he is incapable in many area, which may result in him to not make an effort to try or to give up entirely. His low self-esteem may also stop him from trying to make friends as he will have negative thoughts that he is not accepted and that no one wants to be friends with him.
  • 4. Problem Statement As beginning teachers, providing support in building positive relationships between students with parents, peers, and teachers are important. Through active communication with parents, teachers will understand the student better and learn the different types of parenting style adopted by them and it's impact on the student's development. In addition, teachers should respect the child as a learner and understand their social environment as it will affect their development and academic achievement.

How should teachers communicate with parents so that they would have good understanding of both the parent and student. 3.
