Volunteerism? What is it?
The volunteer movement emerged in 1859 when Jean
Henri Dunant, a renowned French writer-journalist,
witnessed the aftermath of the bloody Battle of Solferino.
This inspired him to create the Red Cross—an
organization that functioned largely on a volunteer basis
and provided first aid to captives and the wounded. The
principles created by Mr. Dunant still guide volunteer
organizations around the world.
14. Stage 3 – realization
Group 3
We won’t sew this guardian, neither use scissors. All we need is
just a piece of white fabric, cotton wool/or other filling to make
a head, and a thread.
a Put a ball of the filling into the center of the square; tie it tightly
with the thread.
b Spread the angel’s wings and tie the thread diagonally.
c Your guardian talisman is ready.

positive moments and drawbacks.
They evaluate their work.

he/she didn’t share his own ideas;
• 4-6 – partial participation, set tasks were
completed to some extent;
• 7-9 – student completed his/her tasks, but
didn’t participate in the last stage of the
project;

21. Conclusions
Project work on the given topic has had impact
on students’ worldview and motivation. They’ve
learned more about successful people who do
great voluntary work in our region and in
Ukraine in general.
They’ve had a chance to use their knowledge of
English to contact sponsors and raise some
money. What is more, they saw that the ocean is
made up of little drops.
