The Preliminary English Test (PET) is an exam that tests intermediate English language skills. It was first approved in the 1970s and certifies that test-takers can read, write, and speak English at a basic level. The PET exam evaluates the four language skills - reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It is internationally recognized as proof of a B1 English proficiency level and can help students in their business and academic pursuits. The exam takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete and assesses skills through tasks like choosing pictures to match conversations, answering questions about reading or listening passages, and short conversations between exam-takers.
