2012 Edelman Trust Barometer Asia PacificDavid Brain
The document summarizes the key findings of the 2012 Edelman Trust Barometer survey in the Asia Pacific region. It found that nearly twice as many countries in the region are now classified as "skeptics" regarding trust in institutions, including South Korea and Japan. However, four Asia Pacific markets - China, Singapore, India, and Indonesia - are still considered "Trusters". It also highlights the significant decline in trust seen in Japan between 2011 and 2012 across business, media, NGOs, and government according to the survey of informed publics ages 25-64.
Hong Kong Results: 2013 Edelman Trust Barometer Edelman
Presented by Alan Vandermolen in Hong Kong January 29, 2013. Last year’s Trust barometer showed trust in business in Hong Kong was significantly lower than in most Asia-Pacific countries, but in line with global results. However, this year’s findings show a significant 13-point increase in the trust of businesses in Hong Kong, while global trust in business rose five percentage points, all among informed publics. This shift may indicate a stronger association of Hong Kong to Asia and that it is a steadily becoming more trusting market.
Business is more trusted than government in 16 of the 26 countries surveyed. Globally, the gap between trust in business and government is the largest it's been since 2007. In Sweden specifically, trust in both business and government returned to 2011 highs in 2013 after declines in 2012, though the gap between the two remains near the 2007 level. Most institutions in Sweden saw a return to 2011 trust levels in 2013 after a year of increased distrust in 2012.
Edelman's annual Trust Barometer survey found that overall trust increased slightly in 2013 but intensity of trust remained weak. Business trust outpaced government trust in 16 of 26 markets. Corruption/fraud and incompetence were cited as top reasons for decreasing trust in institutions. In China, corruption was cited as the primary reason for decreasing government trust while lack of regulation was a leading factor for decreasing business trust. Technology remained the most trusted industry globally and in China.
The document summarizes findings from Edelman's 13th annual trust survey conducted in Germany. Key points:
- Trust levels in Germany increased significantly from 2012, rising 16 points to a neutral score of 55. This follows a year of high distrust in 2012.
- Germany saw one of the biggest increases in trust levels compared to 2008, rising 19 points. Trust has rebounded from a low of 39 in 2012.
- The survey measured trust among the general population and an "informed public" of college-educated, high-income individuals who closely follow business and policy news. Trust levels were lower among the general population in Germany and globally.
The document summarizes findings from Edelman's 13th annual trust survey conducted in Japan. It shows that:
1) After a year of high distrust in 2012, distrust has become the new normal in Japan, with its trust score dropping from 51 in 2012 to 41 in 2013.
2) Trust scores are generally lower among the Japanese general population compared to the informed publics surveyed. The informed publics group had a trust score of 41 while the general population was lower at 34.
3) Compared to previous years, distrust in leadership and institutions has risen significantly in Japan since 2008, part of a broader global trend of declining trust highlighted in Edelman's annual surveys.

4) Business is more trusted than government in 16 of 26 markets surveyed, with the largest gaps in Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and Italy.
The document discusses the changing landscape of communications in the age of engagement. It notes three macro trends: the deterioration of trust in institutions, the dispersion of authority to new influencers, and the decentralization of power from traditional media. It advocates for an approach of public engagement over traditional public relations, where organizations listen to and participate with the public. The document provides examples of how companies like Walmart, Mars, Adobe, Starbucks, GE, and Unilever have benefitted from public engagement strategies.
The document summarizes the findings of the 2012 Edelman Trust Barometer in Indonesia. Some key results include:
- Trust in media is the only institution to see a rise globally, and trust levels in media and business remain high and steady in Indonesia compared to other Asian countries and globally.
- Indonesians need to hear information about companies 3-5 times on average to believe it is likely true, and trust in traditional media and social media as sources of corporate information rose.
- NGOs are the most trusted institution globally despite some drops including in Indonesia, while academics, peers and regular employees gained credibility as spokespeople over CEOs in Indonesia.

This document contains survey results from the 2014 Edelman Trust Barometer in Sweden. It shows:
1) Government is the most trusted institution in Sweden, followed by NGOs, with trust in both institutions increasing from 2013 to 2014. Trust in business and media declined over this period.
2) Trust in industries varies considerably, with technology, consumer electronics, and brewing/spirits among the most trusted, and financial services, media, and chemicals among the least trusted.
3) When assessing CEO credibility, Swedes place most trust in academics/experts and people like themselves, and least trust in bloggers and CEOs.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help boost feelings of calmness, happiness and focus.
The document presents a compact routing scheme that routes on power law graphs with additive stretch. It breaks the graph into a dense core and fringe. It uses known ultra-compact routing algorithms like Thorup-Zwick to route within trees covering the core and fringe. Node names are topology dependent and routing tables use O(e log2 n) bits. The scheme finds the highest degree node, grows a shortest path tree to define the core, and additional trees to cover the remaining fringe edges.
This document discusses wormhole routing in multicomputers. In wormhole routing, packets are divided into fixed-size units called flits. The header flit determines the route and reserves channels as subsequent flits follow in a pipeline. Each channel can buffer only a few flits. Wormhole routing has lower latency than store-and-forward but can cause deadlock. Deadlock is addressed through preemption and rerouting of blocked packets or using deadlock-free routing algorithms like the turn model. Virtual channels allow sharing of physical channels among packets through time-division multiplexing of flit buffers.
This document analyzes cryptographic attacks on the A5/1 stream cipher used in GSM cellular networks. It first describes the structure and key generation process of A5/1. It then summarizes several known attacks on A5/1 including:
1) A man-in-the-middle attack developed by Barkan and Biham that recovers the key through a known plaintext attack on the weaker A5/2 cipher and an active attack on A5/1.
2) A time-memory tradeoff attack developed by Golic that recovers the key by building a tree of possible internal states.
3) An attack developed by Biryukov, Shamir, and

- Japan saw major declines in trust across all institutions except for media. Trust in banks in Japan and South Korea fell dramatically.
- Technology remains the most trusted industry globally, while financial services remains at the bottom.
- Banks experienced a substantial decline in trust in many markets, falling 16 points in the U.S. since 2008.
The document summarizes key findings from the 2012 Edelman Trust Barometer, an annual study that measures trust in institutions and industries. Some key findings include:
- Trust declined globally with nearly twice as many countries now classified as "distrusting" of institutions.
- China, UAE, Indonesia, and Singapore had the highest levels of trust while countries like the U.S., U.K., France, and Japan saw declines in trust.
- In Japan specifically, trust fell 12 points for business, 21 points for media, and 26 points for government compared to 2011 levels according to the informed public aged 25-64.
The document discusses how online crises can spread rapidly worldwide through social media. It notes that everyday issues can become global news instantly online, transforming passive users into active participants. It also discusses how social media has increased transparency and vulnerability for organizations. Trust in institutions is declining while people have higher expectations for ethical corporate behavior and transparency. The document recommends that companies monitor online conversations, engage transparently, and be prepared to respond quickly to potential crises as they may spread and be viewed as games online.
The document discusses the key findings of Edelman's 2013 Trust Barometer survey in Indonesia. Some of the main points include:
- Trust in institutions has recovered globally after declining in 2012, but intensity of trust remains weak. Business is now trusted more than government in 16 of 26 markets surveyed.
- There are large gaps between how important various trust-building attributes are to the public and how companies are perceived to be performing on those attributes. Listening to customers and ethical practices are seen as most important.
- Lack of integrity and corruption/fraud are seen as leading reasons for declining trust in both business and government. Trust in leaders' ability to act ethically is also very low.

- There are gaps between how important various issues are to
Singaporeans are more trusting of institutions than their regional peers. Non-governmental organizations remain the most trusted institution, with four of the top five highest trusting markets in the Asia Pacific region. However, there is an opportunity to deepen the intensity of trust in Singapore. Corruption and fraud are key reasons for distrust in business and government globally. Developed market headquartered companies are most trusted while those from emerging markets still lag.

2012 state of the data center survey global results - august 2012Symantec
The document summarizes the results of a survey of 2,453 global organizations across 32 countries regarding data center complexity. It found that data center complexity is prevalent worldwide, with organizations in the Americas reporting the highest levels of complexity and Asia-Pacific reporting the lowest. The increasing complexity leads to outages and losses, but companies are fighting back by establishing information governance programs. It recommends that organizations establish C-level ownership of information governance, improve visibility beyond platforms, understand their IT assets, reduce backup applications, deploy deduplication, and use backup appliances to simplify.

GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTIONS AND GASTRITIS
Osvaldo Bernardo Muchanga
Gastrointestinal Infections
GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTIONS result from the ingestion of pathogens that cause infections at the level of this tract, generally being transmitted by food, water and hands contaminated by microorganisms such as E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, Rotavirus among others that are generally contained in feces, thus configuring a FECAL-ORAL type of transmission.
Among the factors that lead to the occurrence of gastrointestinal infections are the hygienic and sanitary deficiencies that characterize our markets and other places where raw or cooked food is sold, poor environmental sanitation in communities, deficiencies in water treatment (or in the process of its plumbing), risky hygienic-sanitary habits (not washing hands after major and/or minor needs), among others.
These are generally consequences (signs and symptoms) resulting from gastrointestinal infections: diarrhea, vomiting, fever and malaise, among others.
The treatment consists of replacing lost liquids and electrolytes (drinking drinking water and other recommended liquids, including consumption of juicy fruits such as papayas, apples, pears, among others that contain water in their composition).
To prevent this, it is necessary to promote health education, improve the hygienic-sanitary conditions of markets and communities in general as a way of promoting, preserving and prolonging PUBLIC HEALTH.
Gastritis and Gastric Health
Gastric Health is one of the most relevant concerns in human health, with gastrointestinal infections being among the main illnesses that affect humans.
Among gastric problems, we have GASTRITIS AND GASTRIC ULCERS as the main public health problems. Gastritis and gastric ulcers normally result from inflammation and corrosion of the walls of the stomach (gastric mucosa) and are generally associated (caused) by the bacterium Helicobacter pylor, which, according to the literature, this bacterium settles on these walls (of the stomach) and starts to release urease that ends up altering the normal pH of the stomach (acid), which leads to inflammation and corrosion of the mucous membranes and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.
In addition to bacterial infections, gastritis and gastric ulcers are associated with several factors, with emphasis on prolonged fasting, chemical substances including drugs, alcohol, foods with strong seasonings including chilli, which ends up causing inflammation of the stomach walls and/or corrosion. of the same, resulting in the appearance of wounds and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.
Among patients with gastritis and/or ulcers, one of the dilemmas is associated with the foods to consume in order to minimize the sensation of pain and discomfort.

Breast cancer: Post menopausal endocrine therapyDr. Sumit KUMAR
Breast cancer in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) status is a common and complex condition that necessitates a multifaceted approach to management. HR+ breast cancer means that the cancer cells grow in response to hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. This subtype is prevalent among postmenopausal women and typically exhibits a more indolent course compared to other forms of breast cancer, which allows for a variety of treatment options.
Diagnosis and Staging
The diagnosis of HR+ breast cancer begins with clinical evaluation, imaging, and biopsy. Imaging modalities such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI help in assessing the extent of the disease. Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining of the biopsy sample confirm the diagnosis and hormone receptor status by identifying the presence of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) on the tumor cells.
Staging involves determining the size of the tumor (T), the involvement of regional lymph nodes (N), and the presence of distant metastasis (M). The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system is commonly used. Accurate staging is critical as it guides treatment decisions.
Treatment Options
Endocrine Therapy
Endocrine therapy is the cornerstone of treatment for HR+ breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The primary goal is to reduce the levels of estrogen or block its effects on cancer cells. Commonly used agents include:
Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs): Tamoxifen is a SERM that binds to estrogen receptors, blocking estrogen from stimulating breast cancer cells. It is effective but may have side effects such as increased risk of endometrial cancer and thromboembolic events.
Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs): These drugs, including anastrozole, letrozole, and exemestane, lower estrogen levels by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which converts androgens to estrogen in peripheral tissues. AIs are generally preferred in postmenopausal women due to their efficacy and safety profile compared to tamoxifen.
Selective Estrogen Receptor Downregulators (SERDs): Fulvestrant is a SERD that degrades estrogen receptors and is used in cases where resistance to other endocrine therapies develops.
Combination Therapies
Combining endocrine therapy with other treatments enhances efficacy. Examples include:
Endocrine Therapy with CDK4/6 Inhibitors: Palbociclib, ribociclib, and abemaciclib are CDK4/6 inhibitors that, when combined with endocrine therapy, significantly improve progression-free survival in advanced HR+ breast cancer.
Endocrine Therapy with mTOR Inhibitors: Everolimus, an mTOR inhibitor, can be added to endocrine therapy for patients who have developed resistance to aromatase inhibitors.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is generally reserved for patients with high-risk features, such as large tumor size, high-grade histology, or extensive lymph node involvement. Regimens often include anthracyclines and taxanes.
