Ecosprin Tablets (Generic Acetyl Salicylic Acid Tablets) is used for
the relief of pain, fever and inflammation of a variety of conditions
such as influenza, common cold, low back and neck pain,
dysmenorrhea, headache, toothache, sprains and strains, fractures,
myositis, neuralgia, synovitis, arthritis, bursitis, burns, injuries,
following surgical and dental procedures.
A low dose of Ecosprin tablets is used to prevent blood clots. This
effect reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. If you have
recently had surgery on clogged arteries (such as bypass surgery,
carotid endarterectomy, coronary stent), your doctor may direct you
to use Acetyl Salicylic Acid tablets in low doses as a "blood
thinner" to prevent blood clots.

Uses of Ecosprin 75 mg, 150 mg and 325 mg Tablets:
Ecosprin Tablets (Generic Acetyl Salicylic Acid Tablets) is used to reduce fever

Acetyl Salicylic Acid is known as a salicylate and a nonsteroidal anti-
inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking a certain natural substance in
your body to reduce pain and swelling.
Ecosprin tablets are also used to reduce the risk of death and myocardial
infarction (MI) in patients with chronic coronary artery disease, such as patients
with a history of MI or unstable angina pectoris or with chronic stable angina.
They are also used to reduce the risk of death and recurrent stroke in patients
who have had an ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack.

Warnings
Acetyl Salicylic Acid Tablets increases the risk of bleeding. Risk factors for
bleeding include the use of other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding
(e.g., anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and chronic use of NSAIDs).
Ecosprin tablets may cause gastric ulceration and bleeding. Avoid Ecosprin
in patients with active peptic ulcer disease.
Acetyl Salicylic Acid tablets can cause fetal harm when administered to a
pregnant woman. Maternal aspirin use during later stages of pregnancy
may cause low birth weight, increased incidence for intracranial
hemorrhage in premature infants, stillbirths and neonatal death. Because
NSAIDs may cause premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus, avoid
Ecosprin in the third trimester of pregnancy

Warnings
Ecosprin Tablets is not recommended during menorrhagia where it may
increase menstrual bleeding.
Ecosprin Tablets is to be used with caution in cases of uncontrolled
hypertension and when patients have a past history of gastric or duodenal
ulcer or haemorrhagic episodes or are undergoing therapy with
anticoagulants.
AcetylSalicylic Acid tablets should be used with caution in patients with
moderately impaired renal or hepatic function (contraindicated if severe),
or in patients who are dehydrated since the use of NSAIDs may result in
deterioration of renal function. Liver function tests should be performed
regularly in patients presenting slight or moderate hepatic insufficiency.

Ecosprin Tablets Overdosage
The early signs of Salicylic overdose (Salicylism), including tinnitus
(ringing in the ears), occur at plasma concentrations approaching 200
mcg/mL. Plasma concentrations of Acetyl Salicylic Acid (Aspirin) above
300 mcg/mL are clearly toxic.
In acute overdose, severe acid-base and electrolyte disturbances may
occur and are complicated by hyperthermia and dehydration.
Respiratory alkalosis occurs early while hyperventilation is present, but
is quickly followed by metabolic acidosis.
Ecosprin (Generic Acetyl Salicylic Acid Tablets)

Treatment of Ecosprin Tablets Overdosage
Treatment of Ecosprin tablets (Generic Acetyl Salicylic Acid tablets) consists
primarily of supporting vital functions, increasing Salicylate elimination, and
correcting the acid-base disturbance.
Gastric emptying or lavage is recommended as soon as possible after ingestion,
even if the patient has vomited spontaneously. After lavage or emesis,
administer activated charcoal, as a slurry, if less than 3 hours have passed
since ingestion.
Severity of Ecosprin tablets (Aspirin) intoxication is determined by measuring
the blood Salicylate level. Monitor acid-base status with serial blood gas and
serum pH measurements. Maintain fluid and electrolyte balance.
In severe cases, hyperthermia and hypovolemia are the major immediate
threats to life.

Ecosprin Tablets During Pregnancy
Acetyl Salicylic Acid (Ecosprin tablets) has been classified by
the US FDA as Pregnancy Category D.
Avoid use of Acetyl Salicylic Acid (Ecosprin tablets) during the
third trimester of pregnancy because NSAIDs such as Ecosprin
tablets (Aspirin) may cause premature closure of the fetal
ductus arteriosus. Salicylate products have also been associated
with alterations in maternal and neonatal hemostasis
mechanisms, decreased birth weight, and with perinatal
mortality.
