The active ingredient contained in Lan

Each Lan capsule contains 15 mg or 30
mg of Lansoprazole.
Lan Capsules (Generic Lansoprazole Capsules)

Uses of Lan 15 mg and 30 mg Capsules:
Lan Capsules (Lansoprazole) is used to treat certain conditions where
there is too much acid in the stomach. It is used to treat indigestion,
heartburn, duodenal and stomach ulcers, stomach ulcers caused by
NSAID use, reflux disease, erosive esophagitis, and
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
GERD is a condition wherein the acid in the stomach washes back up
into the esophagus. Sometimes lansoprazole is used in combination
with antibiotics (eg, Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin) to treat ulcers
associated with an infection caused by H. pylori bacteria.
Lansoprazole is also used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES),
which is a condition where the stomach produces too much acid.
Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by decreasing
the amount of acid produced by the stomach.

combination with Amoxicillin plus Clarithromycin as triple therapy are indicated for
the treatment of patients with H. pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease (active

with amoxicillin as dual therapy are indicated for the treatment of patients with H.
pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease (active or one-year history of a duodenal

patients taking PPIs.
Clostridium difficile-Associated Diarrhea: PPI therapy may be associated with
increased risk of Clostridium-difficile associated diarrhea.

Warnings
Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) Deficiency: Daily long-term use (e.g., longer
than 3 years) may lead to malabsorption or a deficiency of
cyanocobalamin.
Hypomagnesemia: Hypomagnesemia has been reported rarely with
prolonged treatment with PPIs.
Interactions with Investigations for Neuroendocrine Tumors: Increases in
intragastric pH may result in hypergastrinemia and enterochromaffin-like
cell hyperplasia and increased chromogranin A levels which may interfere
with diagnostic investigations for neuroendocrine tumors.
Interaction with Methotrexate: Concomitant use with PPIs may elevate
and/or prolong serum concentrations of methotrexate and/or its
metabolite, possibly leading to toxicity. With high-dose methotrexate
administration, consider a temporary withdrawal of Lan capsules.

Oral Lansoprazole doses up to 5000 mg/kg in rats
[approximately 1300 times the 30 mg human dose based on
body surface area (BSA)] and in mice (about 675.7 times the 30
mg human dose based on BSA) did not produce deaths or any
clinical signs.
In the event of overdose, treatment should be symptomatic and
supportive.

Lan Capsules During Pregnancy
Lansoprazole capsules (Lan) has been classified by the US FDA as
Pregnancy Category B.
Reproduction studies have been performed in pregnant rats at oral
doses up to 40 times the recommended human dose and in pregnant
rabbits at oral doses up to 16 times the recommended human dose
and have revealed no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus
due to Lansoprazole.
There are, however, no adequate or well-controlled studies in
pregnant women.
Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of
human response, this drug should be used during pregnancy only if
clearly needed.
