The UOC lent e-books to the library of a women's prison unit to be used by inmates in a book club. Researchers conducted a focus group with 8 inmates who used e-books to read a novel. The inmates had little prior experience with technology. They found the experience of using an e-book negative because it wasn't a physical book. However, they learned how to use the e-reader's features. The inmates said that learning content would be most suitable for e-books and that access to technology could help prevent digital exclusion.
