e-Governance in the Philippines
What is e-Governance? eGovernance several dimension and related factors influence the definition of egovernance. The word “electronic” in the term e-Governance implies technology driven governance.  E-Governance is the application of Information and communication Technology (ICT) for delivering government Services, exchange of information communication transactions, integration various stand-one systems and services between Government-to-citizens (G2C), Government-to-Business(G2B),Government-to-Government( G2G) as well as back office processes and interactions within the entire government frame work.  Through the e-Governance, the government services will be made available to the citizens in a convenient, efficient and transparent manner. (Wikipedia) e-Governance in the Philippines
What is e-Governance? Refers to the use by government agencies of information and  communication technologies (ICT) that have the ability to transform relations with citizens, business, government employees, and other arms of government in the delivery of services.  For the World Bank, it is the use of ICT to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and accountability of government. Is a tool by which limitations of time, distance, and cost are reduced, thereby enhancing citizens’  access to government services. Assessment of Philippine  E-Governance 5 Stages of e-Government e-Governance in the Philippines The 5 stages of e-government was developed by the United Nations and the American Society of Public Administration (UN-ASPA).  These five categories measured a country’s e-government progress.
Assessment of Philippine  E-Governance - 2007 Philippines named as one of the 25 countries employing technology or e-government tools to the fullest.  - UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs in 2006 Philippines tied with Australia for 17th place among 191 countries using web-measure index that assessed the quality of government websites and the level of utilization of ICT tools in government, either to provide information or establish Internet-based interactive and transactional services. E-Government Readiness – defined by UN as a national government’s capacity and willingness to use e-government for ICT-led development.  - Phil. Ranked 4rth in Asia  - Same survey also said www.gov.ph was “on a par with the best of the world. e-Governance in the Philippines
Assessment of Philippine  E-Governance - 2007 E-Participation Index – The index assessed the relevance and usefulness of the e-participation features of government websites worldwide, and how well they were being deployed for “promoting participatory decision-making.” The Philippines was ranked 15th  among countries providing “access and opportunity to the citizen through the development of participatory initiatives via ICT.”    e-Governance in the Philippines
