This document summarizes the dynamic analysis and geometry design of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs). It discusses FOWT platforms such as the tension leg platform (TLP), spar, and semisubmersible designs. The major analyses include dynamic analysis of a TLP considering wave loading and design of a 10MW triple spar with mooring system. Finite element modeling software is used to model the different FOWT geometries and analyze dynamics. Results show semisubmersibles have advantages over TLPs and spars in terms of stability, installation/maintenance costs, and lower fatigue loads, making them more suitable for FOWTs. Future work could explore modifying FOWT designs to improve understanding of turbine dynamics.
