This document summarizes a study that analyzed the seismic response of multi-story reinforced concrete buildings with the addition of fluid viscous dampers. The study used ETABS software to model buildings with and without dampers and subjected them to modal, time history and pushover analyses. It was found that buildings with fluid viscous dampers experienced reduced time periods of up to 90% and reduced base shear of up to 70% compared to buildings without dampers. Maximum story displacements were also reduced with the addition of fluid viscous dampers.
Earthquake Analysis of Multi Storied Residential Building - A Case StudyIJERA Editor
Earthquake occurred in multistoried building shows that if the structures are not well designed and constructed
with and adequate strength it leads to the complete collapse of the structures. To ensure safety against seismic
forces of multi-storied building hence, there is need to study of seismic analysis to design earthquake resistance
structures. In seismic analysis the response reduction was considered for two cases both Ordinary moment
resisting frame and Special moment resisting frame. The main objective this paper is to study the seismic
analysis of structure for static and dynamic analysis in ordinary moment resisting frame and special moment
resisting frame. Equivalent static analysis and response spectrum analysis are the methods used in structural
seismic analysis. We considered the residential building of G+ 15 storied structure for the seismic analysis and it
is located in zone II. The total structure was analyzed by computer with using STAAD.PRO software. We
observed the response reduction of cases ordinary moment resisting frame and special moment resisting frame
values with deflection diagrams in static and dynamic analysis. The special moment of resisting frame structured
is good in resisting the seismic loads.
STRUCTURAL RESPONSE CONTROL OF RCC MOMENT RESISTING FRAME USING FLUID VISCOUS...IAEME Publication
Frequent earthquakes round the globe and large no of structures vulnerable to it have
necessitated the need for structural response control to gain pace in application around the
globe. This paper discusses the use and effectiveness of one such device, fluid viscous dampers,
for response control of structures and to reduce damping demand on structural system. In this
paper a non-linear time history analysis has been carried out on a 3D model of a 12 story RCC
MRF building using 3-directional synthetic accelerogram. Two different cases of building
models with and without supplemental damping have been analyzed using ETABS. The story
responses in terms of absolute maximum displacement and story drift have been compared.
Time history response plots for the two models have also been compared for various responses
viz. roof displacement and acceleration, base shear and story shear forces, along with the
various energy components and damping behavior. The results of the time history analysis are
in close conformation with previous investigations and represent the effectiveness of dampers
in improving the structural response as well as damping demand on structural systems
Seismic performance evaluation of rc building connected with and without x br...eSAT Journals
Abstract The dissertation work is concerned with the comparison of the seismic evaluation of RC buildings connected with and without friction dampers, the method carried out in terms of equivalent static, response spectrum and pushover analysis according to IS 1893:2002(part1) code.G+5, G+10 and G+15 storey buildings respectively are considered for the analysis. In this analysis for friction damper buildings, the dampers are connected at corners of all the buildings. The comparison of equivalent static method and response spectrum method by using finite element software package ETABS version 9.7.4 is used to perform the modeling and analysis of G+5, G+10 and G+15 storey buildings by considering the seismic zone IV as per IS 1893:2002(part 1) code. For analysis various IS codes have been referred. For Gravity load combination IS 456:2000 and for 0.9, 1.2 and 1.5 seismic load combinations as per IS 1893:2002 (part 1) code is referred. In this study building model analysis carried out namely gravity, equivalent static and response spectrum in longitudinal direction & transverse direction discussed and comparisons of codal values of the software analysis values. Results of these analyses are discussed in terms of the time period, storey displacement, storey drift and base shear. From these results it is concluded that time period, storey displacement and storey drift will be more in regular buildings compare with the friction damper buildings, whereas the base shear will be less in regular buildings compare with the friction damper buildings. Keywords – Friction dampers; Fundamental natural time period, Base shear, Lateral displacement and Storey drift.

Hybrid optimization of pumped hydro system and solar- Engr. Abdul-Azeez.pdffxintegritypublishin
Advancements in technology unveil a myriad of electrical and electronic breakthroughs geared towards efficiently harnessing limited resources to meet human energy demands. The optimization of hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems plays a pivotal role in utilizing natural resources effectively. This initiative not only benefits humanity but also fosters environmental sustainability. The study investigated the design optimization of these hybrid systems, focusing on understanding solar radiation patterns, identifying geographical influences on solar radiation, formulating a mathematical model for system optimization, and determining the optimal configuration of PV panels and pumped hydro storage. Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. The study underscored the benefits of optimizing hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems for sustainable energy usage. Optimizing the design of solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems as examined across diverse climatic conditions in a developing country, not only enhances power generation but also improves the integration of renewable energy sources and boosts energy storage capacities, particularly beneficial for less economically prosperous regions. Additionally, the study provides valuable insights for advancing energy research in economically viable areas. Recommendations included conducting site-specific assessments, utilizing advanced modeling tools, implementing regular maintenance protocols, and enhancing communication among system components.
