population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the

DRESSING AND BANDAGES.pptx
- 2. DRESSING •A piece of sterile cloth that covers a wound to prevent infection and/or stop bleeding.
- 3. TECHNIQUES IN DRESSING •Wash hands and wear gloves, if possible. •Unwrap the dressing as close to the wound as possible. Be sure not to touch the wound. •Use a dressing that is large enough to extend at least 1 inch beyond the edges of the wound. •Secure dressing with bandage or tape.
- 4. BANDAGE •Used to apply pressure to bleeding wounds and burns; and to provide immobilization for broken bones, sprains and strains.
- 5. TECHNIQUES IN BANDAGING • Bandaging technique depends upon the size and location of the wound, your first aid skills and materials at hand. • Bandage firmly over bleeding wound and securely over broken bones, not so tight so as not to cut off blood circulation. • Since most injuries swell, check regularly to ensure that the bandage is still comfortable and that it remains firmly secured. • Secure bandage with a tape, clips or square knot.
- 6. KINDS OF OPEN WOUNDS PUNCTURE •Piercing wound caused by pointed objects
- 7. KINDS OF OPEN WOUNDS ABRASION •Caused by rubbing or scraping skin against rough surface
- 8. KINDS OF OPEN WOUNDS INCISION •Cut caused by sharp objects
- 9. KINDS OF OPEN WOUNDS LACERATION •Tearing of soft tissues
- 10. KINDS OF OPEN WOUNDS AVULSION • Tearing away of tissues
- 12. FRACTURE •Do not move the injured part of the body •Stop bleeding if there is any. •Immobilize the broken part by bandaging
- 13. DISLOCATION •Do not try to move dislocated part or force it back into place •Bandage affected area •Apply ice on the dislocated part
- 14. SPRAIN OR STRAIN •Rest injured part •Apply ice •Compress the injured part •Elevate the injured part
- 15. HEAT EXHAUSTION •Transport victim to a cool place •Give plenty of water •Seek medical help
- 16. FOOD POISONING •Help the person to lie down and rest •Give plenty of water •Avoid any medication without asking a doctor
- 17. CHOKING •Give the person back blows •If back blow fails, try abdominal thrusts.
- 18. HEART ATTACK •Help the person sit and lie down with head elevated •If conscious, give aspirin and advise to chew slowly •Give CPR if victim is unconscious
- 19. BURNS •Carefully remove any burnt clothing, unless it is sticking to the skin •Flood the injured area with cold water •Put dressing on affected area
- 20. STROKE •If the person is conscious, help him lie down with his head and shoulders slightly raised and supported •Loosen any tight clothing •If the person is unconscious give CPR
