The Art Of Activism In Art
Activists make their messages and movements known through art in order to express messages,
validate identities, and to make struggles known, calling themselves ARTivists to show that there is
an often undervalued intersection between the two. But before the coining of the term, activists
have been creating art to advance themselves and their communities. ARTivists within the Chicano
community have especially been creating art in order to validate and record their own experiences.
ARTivism is crucial in today s society and culture as it intersects art and politics in order to
emphasize injustices that are deeply rooted within these structures. By decolonizing and
deconstructing exploitive structures, ARTivists liberate the oppressedwhile creating a more socially
conscious future by allowing the oppressed to create their own voice and tell their own stories.
ARTivism dismantles the idea of art for art s sake by giving a meaning to art. It exposes truths
that become hidden or are erased by social structures, which oppresses the people who live out
those truths. Portraying activism through this medium allows for people to connect in a creative
way as art is able to speak volumes for those who do not have a voice to speak out against
injustices against them. During the time of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers, Chicano
farm workers created a movement to fight for better wages and working conditions in the fields
they worked. In addition to protesting, they utilized

Family and the General Systems Theory
The word family can be defined in many ways. When I think of the word family, I think of two or
more individuals who are sometimes related by blood or through a strong bond of unconditional
love, as well as, a shared experience, values, responsibilities, the law, even related through a
community. Different families view themselves in different ways. They have different roles, have
certain boundaries or rules, communicate and solve problems in a different way, and can adjust to
change differently. I will discuss my own familyand how I view my family through the lens of the
General Systems theoryand apply each central property as it contains to my family and how we
communicate. There are six significant properties within the General systems theory,
wholeness, interdependence, boundaries and openness, hierarchies and subsystems, calibration
and feedback, and lastly there is equifinality. I consider family to be two or more people.
Everywhere I go I usually look at the family as a circle instead of seeing them each as an
individual person. I look at a family as a circle because they all are bonded in some sort of way.
Wholeness could be thought of as a circle, because a circle can be defined as one whole figure.
Many times a family view themselves as one whole figure or wholeness. Wholeness is defined as
the way the family view themselves. The family unit has a personality that is shaped by the
combination of each members (Turner). No one can truly understand a family

Planning Process Group Essay
Assignment 1
1. Which process group starts at the start and ends at the end of the project and why?
Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it
performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and
schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding
the variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those
problems.
2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart?
Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the
reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart.
3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing
process group skewed to the right?
Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that
everything that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the
execution process group. Since the execution is done when the fulfillment of the planning process
group, the execution process group is tilted towards the right. Nonetheless, the most elevated
measure of cash and time of all the process groups is taken by execution process group.
4. Did you see that the executing process group is larger and higher than the planning process
group? Why?

A Study On The Field Experience
This case study will go over the observations the author noted during their field experience. Also,
in this case study the author will go over other principal factors about the subject and their special
education circumstances. Demographics: The general overall appearance of L (subjects first
initial), looks like any other first grader. They do not need glasses, hearing aids, wheelchair, braces,
or other any other type of adaptive accommodations. The student is known to be Hispanic, because
the author asked the student s teacher for the student s ethnic demographics. On most days, the
child came to class unless they had a doctor s visit. The child seemed to never be absent otherwise.

L is sensitive to or can get upset when he does not get his way. When this happens the teacher
and aid will usually just let him be and he is eventually able to self regulate. The teacher and aids
only had to remind L a few times to help keep him on task and then he would do so. The teacher
and aid would never have to talk down or set aside time to manage L, he was one of the students
the teachers and aids did not have to worry about. Other higher level students would have
responsibilities to help low level students but L was in the middle and did not acquire help nor
was he assigned to help others, if he was able to do what was asked of him and stay on task.
Lesson plan: L had a few accommodations set aside just for him and his disability. L s main
accommodations focused more on his LD rather than his speech impairment. Visual schedules
were apart of L s accommodations. L struggled with letter and sound recognition so written
schedules were useless. He had to do three tasks in the morning that related around his letter to
word recognition. After he would finish those three tasks L would be able to choose a picture of
activities he could do on the large white board and have a schedule break. Those fun activities were

Cruelty, By Stanley Milgram
Mohammad Asif Mohammad Prof: S.Bridges Essay 5 April 19, 2016 Cruelty The amount of
cruelty one possess varies individually depending on the situations an individual has experienced
throughout their life. This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience
experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within
from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of
being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal
conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social
etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that
is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being
may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. In the experiment
conducted by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist who wanted to test the level of cruelty a normal
citizen would go to when instructed by a person of authority. He brought in many different people
as the test subjects and as we see from the results how each persons obedience to inflict pain on
someone else differed amongst the subjects, we understand this is the results of their cruelty that is
within. This experiment was set up in a room where there was a teacher who was the test subject

At the time, haute couture designers worked exclusively for private clients, for whom clothes
were custom made, so Cardin s move was seen as a threat to the traditional values of the fashion
world. Another version of the story has Cardin resigning from the organization in protest of its
banning of press coverage. The 1960s were a varied and successful period for Pierre Cardin. In
the first years of the decade, he began to design clothes inspired by science. This would become
known simply as the Space Age look. Interestingly, just as Japanese fashion has inspired Cardin

Beowulf, By William Shakespeare
There is so much more at play in Beowulf than just heroism and monstrousness (for lack of a
better term) and their interrelation; however, a great deal of the poem s meaning derives from the
parallels between them. It is clear from his depiction in the poem Beowulf that the titular hero is
clearly drawn as a parallel to the very monsters he fights. To today s reader, the poet s attempt to
create this similarity may be off putting. After all, the meaning of monster is likely different than
that of heroto a contemporary reader. In the context of reading Beowulf, and attempting to
understand how a hero could be monstrous, is difficult. This is because the term monster is
generally associated with an evildisposition; while the term hero, is generally appointed the moral
good. But in the culture Beowulf was written in, it was possible for a hero to possess monstrous
qualities, yet separate himself from the monster s evil purposes to pursue a social good for his
community. One could compare Beowulf with a character like the Marvel comic books superhero
The Thing from Fantastic Four. Both utilize supernatural capacities of monster into a mission for
the greater good. From reviewing the many parallels drawn by the poet between the heroic and the
monstrous, supernatural capacities are not necessarily evil. The intent behind the ability to
terrorize, intimidate and destroy something determines whether or not an action is heroic or
monstrous, good or evil. Beowulf, in

Essay On The Night
Back before the women even took to the sky, there is a dark room. Windows line the wall
opposite large double doors. A desk sits a few feet in from the windows with the chair positioned
so whoever sits there is facing the door. The floor is made of a short, smooth carpet and the walls
are white. There are very few decorative pieces and with the only light coming from the night sky
the room feels fairly boring and confining.
Just then, one of the handles on the double doors begins to move, breaking the cold silence inside
the room. Immediately the room is filled with the voice of a woman on her phone as two guards
hold the doors open.

Without question, the guards turn around and leave the room, shutting the door behind them.
Good, I didn t want this to get violent.
Why are you here?
Alright...straight to the point then. Why were you at my penthouse?
What are you talking about? The president folds her arms and stares sternly at Xasalamel.
Yesterday your personal special operative troops landed a helicopter on my building armed to

The Anatomy And Pathophysiology And Treatment Of...
Introduction
Degenerative disorder is a condition that leads to progressive loss of function. Osteoarthritis is the
most common form of degenerative disease and its prevalence is significantly increasing.
According to Block and Scanzello (2016) says in next 2030, there will be 67 million people
affected with osteoarthritis, as the global population age in united states. This topic has been
chosen for discussion because population ages are increasing and osteoarthritis negatively impact
onto their daily activities and social life. So, this discussion will be focusing on the anatomy and the
pathophysiology and treatment of osteoarthritis and also how it will impact onto their daily life.
This discussion will further highlight on how to assist patient with the degenerative disorder; to
achieve the maximum level of independency with education and preventive measure, as it is
essential with the pharmacological, non pharmacological and surgical treatment.
Definition of degenerative disease
Osteoarthritis is a progressive disease of the joint, representing failed repair of the joint damage that
resulted from intra articular stresses. Intra articular stresses maybe initiated by abnormalities in
articular cartilage, sub chondral bone, ligaments, menisci, peri articular muscles, peripheral nervous
and synovium. Ultimately, this result in the break down in the cartilage and bone, leads to the
symptoms of pain, stiffness, crepitus and functional disability. As a disease, it is

Hypocritical Death Penalty
From 1976 to March of 2015 1,392 people have been killed by the death penalty. The number of
inmates on death row has reached over 3,000 ( Death Penalty Statistics ). These numbers show a
hypocritical side of America. This is the part of American that focuses on an eye for an eye rather
than on our constitution and its standpoint on cruel and unusual punishment. This idea that
criminals need to get what they deserve through the death penalty is what can cloud people s
judgment and waste the taxpayer s money. The death penalty is a misguided form of punishment
that should not be used in United States justice system. The United States is being hypocritical
when they use the death penalty as a form of justice. In 2015, 65% of the people in the United
States believed in the death penalty ( Death Penalty Statistics ). Most people in this category would
believe that a murderer should be put to death, but isn t this hypocritical? We live in a society that

Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
Experiment 9
Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
Objectives
Upon completion of this experiment, students should have learned:
1. The law of conservation of mass.
2. How to calculate an empirical formula.
3. The concept of limiting reagents.
Introduction
Synthesis and the determination of empirical formulas are two extremely important parts of
chemistry. In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula.
The molecular formula gives the actual number of atoms of each element in the molecule and the
empirical formula gives the lowest whole number ratio of the atoms in the molecule. For instance,
the molecular formula of glucose is C6H12O6 and its empirical formula is CH2O. For some ...

For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively.
Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are
multiple oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and
oxygen form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two.
When naming a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two
possibilities [copper(I) oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide].
Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by
mass experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass.
Following the procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest
number, results in a mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the
lowest whole number that converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is
Fe3O4. As iron has two oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3.
Anytime a result that is inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step
should be to recheck all the data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a
known compound often called magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this
compound

Alfred Hitchcock Identity And Identity
The greatest art in films is by the means of the ability to create an emotion in the viewers of the
film and by the means of and imagery. Alfred Hitchcock, for long time, has been a household name
since he began filmmaking. Hitchcock has been able to accumulate a well known and distinct
cinematic techniques making him stand out as one of the best filmmakers around the globe. What
makes Hitchcock s films must watch movies are how he draws his viewers emotion and leave
them in suspense (Maher 246). Hitchcock s The Birds is an American horror filmdropped in 1963.
The film is loosely based on the 1952 story of Daphne Du Maurierand focuses on a sudden series,
unexplained powerful and violent birds attacking the people of Bodega Bay (Maher 247). In this
movie, the fact that viewers do not get to know the details of the birds makes it an interesting but
a suspense film, which evokes thoughts of the audience to know much about the birds. On the
other hand, Identity, which was directed by James Mangold in 2003, revolves around the life of
ten people who seeks refuge in an isolated motel when a vicious storm breaks out in the desert of
Nevada (Falsafi, Khorashad, and Khorashad 2521). As they seek refuge, a serious murderer, Taylor
Vince awaits his execution for killing a group of motel guests. This paper, using terminology
resources and cinematic techniques, seeks to expatriate the similar technique styles adopted in the
two films to enhance suspense. The cinematic techniques

God Is The Creator Of All People, And The Israelites
The modern Christian religion tells each of its followers that God loves us all, sinners and
innocents alike, if only we would accept God into our hearts. But how true is that statement?
While God is the creator of all people, and the Israelites are supposed to be his chosen people, God
does not act as such in the Bible. Rather than being interested in humanity in general, or even the
Israelitesspecifically, God is primarily interested in certain individuals. These works suggest that
even God has favorites. From Abraham to Mosesto David, and all those heroes of the Bible, God
preserves the peoples from which he derives these favored individuals. In these passages, the

As soon as Adam and Eve disobey God, he bans them from the garden of Eden. God drives out
man and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned
every way to guard the way to the tree of life and to the entrance to the garden of Eden (Genesis
3:24). These people may have been cared for by God, but by disobeying him, they lose God s
favor, showing that it was only favor that Adam and Eve had to begin with. Even the Israelites,
God s chosen people, are only briefly in God s favor, and that is not as a result of any inherent
interest in this group of people, but rather because the majority of God s favorite individuals
arise from this group. The people of Israel were overcome by the Egyptians and the Egyptians
thus set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens (Exodus 1:11). The Israelites
groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help and only then God remembered his
covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob (Exodus 2:23; Exodus 2:24). God had
forgotten about the people he promised to provide prosperity for in the future. In addition, God
does not remember the covenant as being with the Israelite peoples, but with his favorites of the
previous generations, i.e. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Furthermore, rather than choosing to then

Eveline By Joyce Essay
In Joyce s, Eveline , most of the story is situated in the mind of the main character, Eveline.
Eveline is characterized as passive, easily influenced, and indecisive. Joyce highlights Eveline s
indecisiveness as she struggles with her immediate predicament; should she leave her abusive
father and disobey her duty as a daughter, or pursue a new life with her potential husband Frank, to
be free? As she contemplates, readers are taken inside Eveline s mindto discover factors from her
past and present that contribute toward her final decision. While Joyce utilizes rich literary
devices including symbolism and dramatic irony, Eveline s final choice is based on what is
repressed in her unconscious mind her mother s last words. Eveline s mother s last word Derevuan
Seraun is the deciding factor in which why Eveline chooses stays home.
Derevuan Seraun is an old Irish Gaelic, translating to at the end of pleasure, there is pain (Tigges
120). Significant because these are Eveline s mother s last words, it contributes as to why
Eveline viewed her mother s life as a life of commonplace sacrifices closing in final craziness
(Joyce 33). Many commenters argue that Joyce s choice of adding Derevaun Seraun into the short
story did not have purpose and was a smudging of Irish culture given the improbability that a
Dublin woman of this time and class would know Gaelic (Suglia). However, Joyce purposely
added the Irish Gaelic as a form of an allusion. Throughout Eveline,

Are Cats Smarter Than Dogs
The Egyptians worshipped them, fish fear them, and they own the space around them like
kings; cats are small forces to be reckoned with. Do like cats or dogs? This question has haunted
every get to know me questionnaire ever since I ve been dubbed sufficiently literate enough to
know and write about these needless facts. Why every elementary school teacher saw this
question as the optimum way to ease the first day jitters is beyond me, but I digress. Recently I
ve decided that it really isn t a question of preferring one over the other, but rather it s you like
one and respect the other. Dogs are impossible to not like; they re large puffs of fur that contain
about as much intelligence as an infant while also retaining the endearing quality of I ll love you
forever if you pet me . Cats however, are cold, cunning, and judgmental creatures that refuse to
demean themselves with silly things such as utter devotion. When faced with these two polar
opposite creatures, it is clear which one demands respect. This is why cats are smarter than dogs; it
is their self awareness, ability to concoct schemes, and wholehearted refusal to submit to humans
that guarantees them a reputation of intelligence and prestige.... Show more content on

were measured using two standardized quantitative tests, The Brooks Spatial Task for spatial
cognition and MoCA [Montreal Cognitive Assessment] for executive function. This study exhibited
that the dance style, tango, has positive effects on both spatial cognition and executive functions in
the elderly and specifically in those with Parkinson s

The Day Of Colorado For Spring Break
Adrian Monk, from the wonderful usa television series Monk, only drinks Sierra Springs bottled

Oregon, United States, only to find out that some repulsive human being thought it necessary to
relieve themselves in the bottle. Yes, you heard me. Adrian Monks favorite water was not, in fact,
water but the urine of a dirty, dirty specimen. I didn t let this ruin my trip, though. This spring

Daylight slowly escaped us as we finally arrived in Portland. Rental car, two parents who didn t

Effective Use of Mission Command as a Philosophy
In late November 2001 Task Force 58 launched from ships off the coast of Pakistan to conduct the
longest ranged amphibious assault in history with 403 Marines and Sailors, 4 fast attack vehicles,
and a variety of supporting equipment,. General James N. Mattis successfully accomplished this in
large part to the effective execution of mission command. Commanders can utilize mission
command as a philosophy or a warfighting function. Mission command as a philosophy is the use
of commander s intent and mission orders to empower agile and adaptive leaders. It enables

He began building his understanding of the enemy before he ever received the mission. While
conducting Operation Bright Star, a combined training exercise in Egypt, General Mattis broke
away with a small staff to war game possible scenarios for a Marine invasion into Afghanistan.
He knew that the Taliban would likely withdraw to their spiritual center of gravity in Kandahar
as forces put pressure on them in the north . A long range amphibious assault would be needed to
get that far inland. General Mattis planned to request four additional CH 53 Sea Stallions to
facilitate the lift of large numbers of supplies and Marines so this would be successful. He also
planned to gain an additional two KC 10 fuel tankers to conduct refuel operations in the air. In
addition to additional aircraft, General Mattis added a second Amphibious Ready Group and
Marine Expeditionary Unit to TF 58. This allowed flexibility in maintaining tempo. As one group
was conducting a mission, the other was training and preparing for a follow on mission. Flexibility
was key to General Mattis s use of mission command. As a philosophy, mission command is ideally
suited to fighting a counter insurgency. It allows commanders to issue intent through mission
orders and is based on decentralized execution . General Mattis understood this and knew while

The Bombing On Pearl Harbor
The bombing on pearl harbor
Just before 8 a.m. on December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the
American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The barrage lasted just two hours,
but it was devastating: The Japanese managed to destroy nearly 20 American naval vessels,
including eight enormous battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. More than 2,000 Americans
soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded. The day after the assault,
President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan; Congress approved his
declaration with just one dissenting vote. Three days later, The Japanese allies Germany and Italy
also declared war on the United States, and again Congress reciprocated. More than two years into
the conflict, America had finally joined World War II. The attack on Pearl Harborwas a surprise, but
Japan and the United States had been edging toward war for decades. The United States was
particularly unhappy with Japan s increasingly belligerent attitude toward China. The Japanese
government believed that the only way to solve its economic and demographic problems was to
expand into its neighbor s territory and take over its import market; to this end, Japan had declared
war on China in 1937. American officials responded to this aggression with a battery of economic
sanctions and trade embargoes. They reasoned that without access to money and goods, and
especially essential supplies like oil, Japan

Implementing A New Tracking System Essay
The situation surrounding the problem within the Office of Appeals is adapting from seeing things
as they are to seeing things as they could be. The Agency must take final administrative action on a
hearing within 90 days of the date of the initial request. Although, the 90 day time frame allowed
pursuant to regulations, the Agency makes every effort to conduct hearings promptly, and if
possible, render decisions in a shorter time frame. Therefore, the new trackingsystem will have a
tremendous impact on conducting the hearing within the allotted time.
It s time to move into the fast pace and changing technology world. The Office of Appeals must
be equipped with today s technology to ensure that our beneficiaries and stakeholders receive
information and assistance as quickly and efficiently as possible. Incorporating a new tracking
system could serve that purpose. By instituting a new tracking system, the Division of Medicaid
could greatly improve the quality or services it provides to its beneficiaries and stakeholders. A
new appeal tracking system would minimize the time in providing hearing notification to the
beneficiaries we serve. By utilizing the most recent program software, it will allow the Office of
Appeals to thoroughly track an appeal from the beginning to the final administrative decision.
The major issue is the Excel spreadsheet the Office of Appeals currently uses to track appeals

Kennedy, and Avery rushed home to get ready for Ashley s party.
Who is that? Taylor said as she turned and saw a person wearing a black sweatshirt and black jeans

When Kennedy turned around the person slowed down and started to walk.
It s nobody, Kennedy said, Would you stop worrying so much?
When Kennedy turned back around the person started running again. The person caught up to them

be the person from their school to send out the news.
That was weird, said Taylor, School is out and I wonder why he still wanted your phone number.
Oh well he has it it now, calm down it s just a phone number, Avery said. Avery was pretty much

How Did Napoleon Bonaparte Influence Western Civilization
Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15th, 1769 in Ajaccio, mediterranean island of
Corsica, his family was not wealthy and considered to be on the low side of Corsican nobility.
He learned to speak French and was able to graduate from Ecole military academy in France. He
was second lieutenant in the French Army. Although many would say he twisted and bent Europe
during his reign in 1799 1815, Napoleon l had the greatest impact on Western Civilizations as
well as universal because of his creation of the Napoleonic Code, educational improvements, as
well as his military refinement. As I mentioned, Napoleon l created the Napoleonic Code in the
19th century. Initially it was a code for the people to live in peace and have order.ВЁUnder the
code all male citizens are equal: primogeniture, hereditary nobility, and class privileges are
extinguished; civilian institutions are emancipated from ecclesiastical control; freedom of person,
freedom of contract, and inviolability of private property are fundamental
principlesВЁ(Britannica.com). This specific textual evidence reveals that... Show more content on

Inequality And Violence During The United States
We are all unequal, therefore, build an unequal society, but not together, but superiors are
responsible for building it; those belonging to the elite. In the approach taken by the author of
Inequality violence in the U.S. the capitalist system, makes us see the dark side of society,
distinguishing the types of violencein the author s opinion, they are worrying. Violence is closely
linked to economic inequalities, ethnic or gender caused in most cases by a capitalist and militarist
system exacerbated.
It is not a violent act placing toxic waste in minority communities or expose the humblest workers
to harmful conditions for their health and that of your family? In America it is given more
priority to economic violence to peace, over 80 percent of the U.S. population is in the bottom
four categories middle, working, working poor, and underclass. Even the 14 percent in the upper
middle class depend on wages (Barbara, H. 2005 ). Politicians, policy makers and big corporations
also advocate and contribute to the increasing of the inequality, and in their actions they harm many
lives, increasing even more the poverty, and when there s no human development thanks to all the
obstacles, there will be violence because they put impediments to their personal and social grow.
To have a development as a person needs to have a greater human capacity to maximize their social,
economic, cultural and political circles, and protect them for future generations through hard work,

Employees Under Surveillance
Whether employees should be under surveillance or not of their employers will always remain a
debatable topic. In my opinion, however, I would support this phenomenon instead of opposing it
due to some analytical reasons which I shall be explaining in detail.
1) Workers/Employees might alter their behaviour if they will be told about the inspection. This
will not show the fair results of the monitoring.
Two researchers, Elton Mayo and Flitz Rothlisberger, carried out an experiment in 1920s. In 1927,
researchers were trying to determine the optimal amount of lighting, temperature, and humidity for
assembling electronic components at Western Electric s Hawthorne plant. The results showed that
lighting had no consistent effect on production. Researchers were frustrated to discover that ... Show

Secret monitoring will only cleanse the dirt out of the work force (the corrupt employees) whereas
the ethical employees will never know about the fact that they are being monitored secretly. They
will have a sense of privacy and belonging towards the organization. They will feel bonded and
trusted this way and they will work even more efficiently.
5) Surveillance in workplace, you might be amazed at what your boss can legitimately do.
Managers can lawfully screen practically anything a representative does at work the length of the
explanation behind checking is sufficiently essential to the business.
Bosses may introduce camcorders, read postal mail and email, screen telephone and PC use, use
GPS following, and that s just the beginning. The explanation behind a specific kind of working
environment observation must be more imperative than a representative s desire of security to be
lawfully reasonable. For instance, a business doubtlessly would not have an adequate motivation to
screen a locker room yet would be permitted to screen discussions amongst clients and client

Holden Caulfield s The Catcher s The Rye
Are 50 s teens able to survive the hurtful but unavoidable transition of becoming a grown up as they
struggle with the changes that come along with it?
JD. Salinger s 1951 book, The Catcher in the Rye, shows us how society treated their confused and
changing teenagers during their transition into adulthood. The book s main character Holden
Caulfield is being pressured into growing up even though he doesn t feel ready, to lead an adult
life. He is still struggling socially and mourning for his deceased brother whose death turned
Holden upside down and into a negative, hopeless person from a young age, which causes him to
be distracted, indifferent and to flunk every school he goes to.
Therefore, Holden Caulfield seems to be dealing with a world that is forcing him to change his
ways and grow up because of his age while he struggles with his past, present and future, in this JD
Salinger classic.
Thesis Statement Brainstorm:
1 Salinger s main character Holden, is seen to be struggling with his past, present and future in The
Catcher in the Rye.
2 Holden is seen to be having unspecified negative thoughts about growing up throughout JD
Salinger s famous The Catcher in the Rye.
3 JD Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye s main character Holden Caulfield seems to be dealing
with a world that forces him to change his ways because of his age and what it s expected from
him while he is struggling with his past, present and future.

Exploring Medical Asepsis
Asepsis is the state of being free from disease causing contaminants (such as bacteria, viruses,
fungi, and parasites) or, preventing contact with microorganisms. The term asepsis often refers to
those practices used to promote or induce asepsis in an operative field in surgery or medicine to
prevent infection. Asepsisis a term that is used, medically, and surgically. Medically asepsis is being
concerned with eliminating the spread of microorganisms through facility practices. In my own
words, that means using all safety precautions, to insure, that viruses, bacterias, and other
microorganism are not present. An example of medical asepsis would be things such as the flu,
mumps, rabies, and other contagious infections. Medical asepsis should always be practiced,
because it helps the patient fight a current infection and prevent its spread, prevents the patient from

The Treatment Goal Of 75 Year Old Male With Hypothyroidism
Management. The treatment goal of 75 year old male with hypothyroidism is to improve patient s
symptoms which will allow better adaptation to environment. The medication dose should be
adjusted to maintain serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) within the lower half of the
reference range (0.4 2.5mU/L). Treatment of hypothyroidismin elderly subjects is a common task
undertaken in general and in sub specialty practice. Treatment of hypothyroidism in elderly subjects
is often rewarding, simple and cheap (Roe, 2015).
Thyroid hormones (L thyroxine). Hypothyroidism is classically treated by oral replacement with
synthetic L thyroxine (levothyroxine). Normalization of TSH levels using levothyroxine therapy
can ameliorate the effects of comorbidities in older adults (Hennessey, 2015). It has been shown
then there is no added benefit in using combination therapy of levothyroxine and liothyronine
(another synthetic thyroid hormone supplement) (Kraut, 2015). L thyroxine (levothyroxine)
monotherapy has become the mainstay of treating hypothyroidism and allows more desirable
therapy (Jonklaas, 2014). Patients whose serum TSH levels exceed 10 mIU/L are at increased
risk for heart failure and cardiovascular mortality, and should be considered for treatment with L
thyroxine (Garber, 2012). L thyroxine is peripherally converted to free triiodothyronine (FT3), the
active form of thyroid hormone. It has a half life of 6 days and is typically administered as a once

Explain The Main Organs In The Urinary System
The main organs in the urinary system for mammals are the kidneys, which filter blood and
produce urine. The other organs such as the ureters, urinary bladder and the urethra are simply
accessory structures that help in the transport and storage of urine.
The kidneys of mammals are round, bean shaped organs. These kidneys are located at the posterior
end of the abdomen and outside of the peritoneum, which is the membrane that encloses the organs
of the abdominal cavity. The indentation found on the bean shaped part of the kidney is called the
hilum, this is where the renal artery enters the kidney and where both the renal vein and ureter exit.
The kidney is also divided into 2 regions, which is the outer cortex and the inner medulla. In the
cortex, this is where blood is filtered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also where more water and electrolytes are absorbed. From here, the filtrate is passed through
the distal convoluted tubule, where excess potassium ions, hydrogen ions and toxins are passed
from the blood into the filtrate. The end product is dumped into a large collecting duct, which then
leads to the papillae of pyramids, through the calyxes, and into the renal pelvis to be excreted
through the ureters. From the ureters, urine is passed down to the urinary bladder. The outer
surface of the urinary bladder is covered with fibrous connective tissue. Inside the connective tissue
is a muscular layer called the detrusor muscle. This smooth muscle contracts to expel urine from the
bladder. The next tissue layer, the submucosa, is an elastic fibrous membrane that supports the
mucosa, which lines the inside of the bladder. The opening of the urethra is surrounded by a band
of detrusor muscle, forming an internal urethral sphincter. This sphincter is relaxed by involuntary
muscle control, and is innervated in a way that when the bladder is approximately half full, the
animal will recognize the urge to urinate. The last passageway for urine is through the

might get so trapped up in negative conditions that we do not appreciate the positive sides in our
lives. In the article, 3 Things I Learned While My Plane Crashed, Elias (2011) speaks that I have
been presented with a gift that is to look ahead to the upcoming and try on eliminating negative
energy. Lifetime is not endless; so don t go for second chances when you can take the

Richard IIi, By William Shakespeare
Children bring out the underlying disposition and wicked intentions we all possess. Richard III, by
William Shakespeare, is a tragic play about the Duke of Gloucester who desires to be the king of
England. He does this through the manipulation and murder of many characters, including Queen
Elizabeth s children, PrinceEdward and the Duke of York. These children emphasize some of the
adult themes in the play and reveals the devastating nature of these themes. Their characteristics and
deaths all contribute to the emphasis of these themes. Critics Marie HГ©lГЁne Bisnaught and
Michel Bito, and Vincent Walsh all agree that the murderof Prince Edward and the Duke of York
was an atrocious deed.
Prince Edward and the Duke of York are innocent, precious, and witty. These traits the children
acquire truly highlights the extent of their deaths. Both these children are well beyond their
years. This clear when the Duke of York says I could have given my uncle s grace a flout, / To
touch his growth nearer than he d touched mine (Act II, Scene IV, Line 24 25). The young duke
cleverly insults his uncle s height and manners essentially saying that Richard is a short,
disrespected man. The children s innocence is also evident through the perspective of their mother
and uncle. In the scene when Richard III greets his nephew, Prince Edward, he says Sweet prince,
the untainted virtue of your years / Hath not yet dived into the world s deceit (Act III, Scene I,
Line 7 8). Prince

Court Case Decisions for Amendment I, IV, and VIII Essay
Amendment I: 1.) Van Orden v. Perry (2005), 545 U.S. 677, 125 S. Ct. 2854 2.) The case was
brought to state court by Thomas Van Orden over a monument that had the Ten Commandments
engraved upon it. The monument was given to the Texas government and governor Rick Perry. The
monument was erected between the State Capitol and the State Supreme Court. Van Orden argues
that the monument violates the 1st Amendment s Establishment Clause. The Establishment Clause,
which is the one of the first clauses in the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, states that the
United States Congress should not enact any law in respect to any religion. 3.) The decision of the
United States Supreme Court was that the monument was in no way unconstitutional,... Show more

The police had a search warrant for the premises for weapons and evidence of gang activity. During
her detainment, the police officers questioned Mena about her citizenship status. The district court
sided with Mena and the Ninth Circuit court upheld the D.C. s decision. The courts stated that
detaining Mena in handcuffs throughout the search had infringed upon her Fourth Amendment
rights, as well as questioning her citizenship. 3.) The Supreme Court ruled that the police and
SWAT officers involved had not violated Mena s 4th Amendment rights. 4.) The Supreme Court
held that Mena s detainment had not violated the 4th Amendment in any way. Officers with a
search warrant for unlawful contraband had outright authority to detain all occupants of the
premises during the search due to potential risk to the officers; having Mena and others
restrained while police searched the house for weapons and gang members was necessary for
officer safety. The Court additionally held that the officers inquiring Mena about her legal status
during her detainment didn t violate the 4th amendment because the officers didn t need to have
reasonable suspicion to do so. 5.) I agree with the Supreme Court s decision. The officers were
merely doing their job and attempting to look out for their safety while doing so. Amendment

Privacy Is The Primary Guideline For The Privacy
Privacy in America is developing into a vague set of rules. Each person has a right to privacy, but
the question remains: How much information should be granted to the public ? The answer to this
question varies from person to person. The industries, social networking, protection agency, and
everyday situations create their own ideology of what must remain private.
The Evolution of Privacy To begin, the constitution is the primary guideline for the privacy rights
in America. This may begin to address the problem but it does not set its limitations. Opinions
differ in each individual. During the prohibition period Olmstead was prosecuted for trying to
smuggle and sell alcohol. Police (without a warrant) wire tapped his phone to find ... Show more

Examples of Privacy Interference Overwhelmingly, there is so many cases of privacy infringement
that it is rather concerning. HeLa is one of the most provincial and revolutionary cell strain in the
medical field. HeLa cells originated from Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta Lacks was a Black woman in
times of segregation. Her only option for a hospital was Johns Hopkins. She needed to have
them remove a tumor in her cervix. The doctor in charge of pathology at the time was Dr.
George Otto Gey. He asked for tissue samples whenever available. The problem with cells is that
they die off rather quick unless they are in the body still. Henrietta Lack s cells viability was
stronger than any other. The cells would keep reproducing outside the body. Even as Henrietta
Lacks has moved on, her cells kept reproducing. The only mistake that came from this discovery
was that the doctors never even tried to consult with Henrietta on the whereabouts of her tissues.
They had taken it without her knowledge and run tests without giving her information that they
learned from them. It was not until the doctors wanted to run tests on the children that the family
even knew. (Skloot 13) This might be because the family was known to be a vulnerable type. They
did not know much what was going on, so they had just assumed the doctor was doing what was
best for the patient. Instead the doctors had more concern for the industry and

Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep Character Analysis
Diminishing Difference Between Humans and Androids Throughout Do Androids Dream of
Electric Sheep, author Philip K. Dick explored the effect empathy had on the characters. In the
novel, bounty hunters Voigt Kampff Test measured empathy, and if a person was found to fail
the test, that person was considered to be an android (Dick 44). As a result of this method, the
humans had ironically become the less empathetic, which resulted in androids becoming closer
to human by default. Dick explored the declining empathy of humans by looking at what they
have resorted to in order to identify androids. The Voigt Kampff Test was a vital tool to the
bounty hunters tasked with finding and retiring illegal androids (57); however, the test itself
was calculating and cold, only able to deliver a yes or no, fail or pass, 0 or 1 (46). The Voigt
Kampff Test, humans only anchor point in a world where anyone could be an android, was just as
devoid of empathy as humans see androids (40).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of The Taliban
The Taliban is an Islamic fundamentalist political movement . It spread throughout Afghanistan and
formed a government, ruling as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from September 1996 until
December 2001. It gained diplomatic recognition from only three states: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia,
and the United Arab Emirates. While in power, it enforced a rigid interpretation of Sharia, or
Islamic law. The Talibanarose out of the utter revulsion felt by particularly pious former
mujahedeen (jihadists) living in Pakistan, who thought it their responsibility to punish their peers
whom they regarded as morally bankrupt, and concurrently enforce sharia law. The Taliban practice

Elementary education of children, mostly girls, was shut down in Kabul, where nearly all of the
elementary school teachers were women. One of the biggest atrocities that the Taliban has
continually inflicted upon women is depriving them of an education. The Taliban has gone to
extreme and brutal lengths to not only prevent women from going to school but to punish those
who do. In Mingora, Pakistan the Taliban had set an edict that no girls could attend school after
January 15, 2009. The group had already blown up more than a hundred girls schools. As a child,
Malala Yousafzai became an advocate for girls education, which followed with the Taliban
broadcasting a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, a gunman shot Malala while she was
returning home from school. She survived her injuries and continues to speak out on the
importance of education. In response to her attack she said The terrorists thought they would

and hopelessness died. Strength, power and courage were

Lord Of The Flies Chapter 1 Analysis Essay
Write an analysis of the opening chapter of the novel. How successfully does Golding convey the
positive and negative aspects of the island and mans impact on it? During chapter 1 Golding
portrays the island and mans impact on it in both positive and negative ways. He also uses many
literary devices when showing these aspects. The first positive image is shown when ralph
describes the granite as being Like icing on a pink cake the colour pink in this similie presents
beauty and happiness and icing reinforces the happiness. However this could be interpreted
negatively as the hunger of the boys at this time. Additionally positivity and beauty are both
presented in The air was filled with butterflies, lifting, fluttering and settling. This shows the

main competitor, Jack in Jack s in charge of the choir . Ralph asserts his power when he
disallows piggy from going on the scouting trip but he does so reasonably in Now go back,
piggy, and take names. That s your job, so long . Also the scouting adventure was a very good
idea. Ralph is presented positively through the metaphor Ralph s golden body showing he is in
good condition physically and being called golden suggests purity and health. Ralph is also
depicted as a good person in but there was a mildness about his mouth and eyes that proclaimed

  • 2. The Art Of Activism In Art Activists make their messages and movements known through art in order to express messages, validate identities, and to make struggles known, calling themselves ARTivists to show that there is an often undervalued intersection between the two. But before the coining of the term, activists have been creating art to advance themselves and their communities. ARTivists within the Chicano community have especially been creating art in order to validate and record their own experiences. ARTivism is crucial in today s society and culture as it intersects art and politics in order to emphasize injustices that are deeply rooted within these structures. By decolonizing and deconstructing exploitive structures, ARTivists liberate the oppressedwhile creating a more socially conscious future by allowing the oppressed to create their own voice and tell their own stories. ARTivism dismantles the idea of art for art s sake by giving a meaning to art. It exposes truths that become hidden or are erased by social structures, which oppresses the people who live out those truths. Portraying activism through this medium allows for people to connect in a creative way as art is able to speak volumes for those who do not have a voice to speak out against injustices against them. During the time of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers, Chicano farm workers created a movement to fight for better wages and working conditions in the fields they worked. In addition to protesting, they utilized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Family and the General Systems Theory The word family can be defined in many ways. When I think of the word family, I think of two or more individuals who are sometimes related by blood or through a strong bond of unconditional love, as well as, a shared experience, values, responsibilities, the law, even related through a community. Different families view themselves in different ways. They have different roles, have certain boundaries or rules, communicate and solve problems in a different way, and can adjust to change differently. I will discuss my own familyand how I view my family through the lens of the General Systems theoryand apply each central property as it contains to my family and how we communicate. There are six significant properties within the General systems theory, wholeness, interdependence, boundaries and openness, hierarchies and subsystems, calibration and feedback, and lastly there is equifinality. I consider family to be two or more people. Everywhere I go I usually look at the family as a circle instead of seeing them each as an individual person. I look at a family as a circle because they all are bonded in some sort of way. Wholeness could be thought of as a circle, because a circle can be defined as one whole figure. Many times a family view themselves as one whole figure or wholeness. Wholeness is defined as the way the family view themselves. The family unit has a personality that is shaped by the combination of each members (Turner). No one can truly understand a family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Planning Process Group Essay Assignment 1 1. Which process group starts at the start and ends at the end of the project and why? Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding the variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those problems. 2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart? Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart. 3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing process group skewed to the right? Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that everything that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the execution process group. Since the execution is done when the fulfillment of the planning process group, the execution process group is tilted towards the right. • 6. Cruelty, By Stanley Milgram Mohammad Asif Mohammad Prof: S.Bridges Essay 5 April 19, 2016 Cruelty The amount of cruelty one possess varies individually depending on the situations an individual has experienced throughout their life. This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. In the experiment conducted by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist who wanted to test the level of cruelty a normal citizen would go to when instructed by a person of authority. He brought in many different people as the test subjects and as we see from the results how each persons obedience to inflict pain on someone else differed amongst the subjects, we understand this is the results of their cruelty that is within. • 8. Beowulf, By William Shakespeare There is so much more at play in Beowulf than just heroism and monstrousness (for lack of a better term) and their interrelation; however, a great deal of the poem s meaning derives from the parallels between them. It is clear from his depiction in the poem Beowulf that the titular hero is clearly drawn as a parallel to the very monsters he fights. To today s reader, the poet s attempt to create this similarity may be off putting. After all, the meaning of monster is likely different than that of heroto a contemporary reader. In the context of reading Beowulf, and attempting to understand how a hero could be monstrous, is difficult. This is because the term monster is generally associated with an evildisposition; while the term hero, is generally appointed the moral good. But in the culture Beowulf was written in, it was possible for a hero to possess monstrous qualities, yet separate himself from the monster s evil purposes to pursue a social good for his community. One could compare Beowulf with a character like the Marvel comic books superhero The Thing from Fantastic Four. Both utilize supernatural capacities of monster into a mission for the greater good. From reviewing the many parallels drawn by the poet between the heroic and the monstrous, supernatural capacities are not necessarily evil. The intent behind the ability to terrorize, intimidate and destroy something determines whether or not an action is heroic or monstrous, good or evil. Beowulf, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula. For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively. Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are multiple oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and oxygen form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two. When naming a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two possibilities [copper(I) oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide]. Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by mass experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass. Following the procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest number, results in a mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the lowest whole number that converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is Fe3O4. As iron has two oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3. Anytime a result that is inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step should be to recheck all the data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a known compound often called magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this compound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Eveline By Joyce Essay In Joyce s, Eveline , most of the story is situated in the mind of the main character, Eveline. Eveline is characterized as passive, easily influenced, and indecisive. Joyce highlights Eveline s indecisiveness as she struggles with her immediate predicament; should she leave her abusive father and disobey her duty as a daughter, or pursue a new life with her potential husband Frank, to be free? As she contemplates, readers are taken inside Eveline s mindto discover factors from her past and present that contribute toward her final decision. While Joyce utilizes rich literary devices including symbolism and dramatic irony, Eveline s final choice is based on what is repressed in her unconscious mind her mother s last words. Eveline s mother s last word Derevuan Seraun is the deciding factor in which why Eveline chooses stays home. Derevuan Seraun is an old Irish Gaelic, translating to at the end of pleasure, there is pain (Tigges 120). Significant because these are Eveline s mother s last words, it contributes as to why Eveline viewed her mother s life as a life of commonplace sacrifices closing in final craziness (Joyce 33). Many commenters argue that Joyce s choice of adding Derevaun Seraun into the short story did not have purpose and was a smudging of Irish culture given the improbability that a Dublin woman of this time and class would know Gaelic (Suglia). However, Joyce purposely added the Irish Gaelic as a form of an allusion. Throughout Eveline, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. The Bombing On Pearl Harbor The bombing on pearl harbor Just before 8 a.m. on December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The barrage lasted just two hours, but it was devastating: The Japanese managed to destroy nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight enormous battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded. The day after the assault, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan; Congress approved his declaration with just one dissenting vote. Three days later, The Japanese allies Germany and Italy also declared war on the United States, and again Congress reciprocated. More than two years into the conflict, America had finally joined World War II. The attack on Pearl Harborwas a surprise, but Japan and the United States had been edging toward war for decades. The United States was particularly unhappy with Japan s increasingly belligerent attitude toward China. The Japanese government believed that the only way to solve its economic and demographic problems was to expand into its neighbor s territory and take over its import market; to this end, Japan had declared war on China in 1937. American officials responded to this aggression with a battery of economic sanctions and trade embargoes. Little did they know, that night would change their lives forever. As soon as school ended, Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery rushed home to get ready for Ashley s party. Who is that? When Kennedy turned around the person slowed down and started to walk. It s nobody, Kennedy said, Would you stop worrying so much? When Kennedy turned back around the person started running again. The person caught up to them and started asking them questions. The man asked for Avery s phone number because he claimed to be the person from their school to send out the news. In my opinion, however, I would support this phenomenon instead of opposing it due to some analytical reasons which I shall be explaining in detail. 1) Workers/Employees might alter their behaviour if they will be told about the inspection. Dick explored the effect empathy had on the characters. In the novel, bounty hunters Voigt Kampff Test measured empathy, and if a person was found to fail the test, that person was considered to be an android (Dick 44). As a result of this method, the humans had ironically become the less empathetic, which resulted in androids becoming closer to human by default.
