Citizen Security Policy
The police plays a key role in any political regime. Whether liberal democracy or an authoritarian
regime, the police is responsible for internal security, law enforcement and channeling the claims of
justice. The actions of the police are linked to the performance of the regime, given that they are the
center of how the states responds to everyday problems. The police, not the members or mayors, are
usually the first public officials to whom people look to when security problems occur. The
perceptions of citizens on police work are therefore an important component in the legitimacy of the
system than confidence in other policies, such as congress, the political parties or the executive
institutions.

Primarily through a legal and political system of democratic type that fully guarantees its
development, safety and well both individually and collectively. The democratic state as the
realization of the power of an organized society can only make use of coercion and force within a
legitimate and legal system. To do this there needs to be a democratic structure, security privileges of
the human person and set distance to other models such as the set for the duration of the doctrine of
the National security where the beneficiary was unquestionably the authoritarian state. These changes
mean that the protection of democratic values and respect for a person are not strictly an internal issue,
but it becomes a foundational value protected by the internal community.
In that sense, the boundaries between internal and external have faded, creating a state of sovereignty.
It concludes that the issue of public safety, with an idea that is preferably applied within sovereignty
of a state extended to the concepts of not only regional but global security and within them the idea
that there are international crimes and crimes against humanity that threaten the security of states and
their citizens. That is why a public security policy should be based on the framework of a democratic
system in which the rule of law is in

Competition In Hesiod s Work And Days
In Hesiod s Work and Days, competition is frowned upon if it gets too strong, but in Homer s pieces,
even petty, mostly unconstructive competition is encouraged. Hesiod proposes that there are actually
two kinds of strife in his society, so one [kind of strife] fosters evil war and battle, being cruel: her no
man loves...But the other [kind of strife makes] a man grow eager to work when he considers his
neighbor (Readings in Greek History 16). In Work and Days, Hesiod argues that so called good strife
is beneficial for human society, but that this strife should have a limit and should stop when it
becomes irrelevant. Hesiod s good strife involves friendly competition, for example, if a man sees his
neighbor being more successful than he is,

Hearing Aid Process
The hearing aid fitting process of PEI begins by running a full audiometric test battery on the patient.
They begin with tympanometry, and then follow up with pure tones, speech and bone testing. If need
be, they continue with any special testing that may be deemed necessary following the results of the
audiometric testing. If a patient seems like a good hearing aid candidate you can perform QuickSin,
which is used to determine how the patient would understand speech in noisy situations. LDLs may
also be done to obtain the patient s loudness discomfort level, which ensures that their hearing add is
not fit to be louder than what is comfortable for the patient. After the test results are obtained and
explained to the patient, their expectations of a hearing aid are determined. This can be achieved via
the APHAB, COSI and ECHO, which are commonly used at PEI. These tests are also used to
determine what type of listening environments the patients are in, their motivation for wearing hearing
aids and the areas in which they are having problems hearing. After this is done the audiologist
determines what type of hearing aid would be best the patient, using the previously listed
questionnaires and test results as well as the patient s dexterity, vision and cosmetic needs. After the

It is proven that using QuickSin for speech in noise testing will help determine if the patient would
benefit from directional mics vs. omnidirectional mics and other features in their hearing aid to better
their speech discrimination in noise. Other procedures done in PEI, such as Verafit and LDLs, are also
confirmed by evidence based practice. What this means is that these tests were researched and proven
to be best practice when fitting hearing aids. These test are recognized to be essential to the hearing
aid fitting and the success of the

Enzalie Alternate Ending
Enzalie sighed sadly, loose pebbles crunching beneath his feet with every step. He could see his
destination in the distance, it was a miracle that the old place was still standing after all this time. Two
decades had past, twenty long years. He should have come back sooner, he paused. He should have
been back here sooner, with his brother. His hand clenched around the hilt of the old dagger in his
pocket. ...looks like we ve come full circle, bro. Enzalie fought back tears, smiling softly. This was it,
this was home. As he got closer he could see that the front door was off the hinges, this was not
surprising. Who knows how many storms had blown through in the years he had been gone, as he got
closer the smell of rotting wood was unmistakeable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He let out a chuff of laughter. ...it s kinda funny, Gize. he withdrew the dagger from his pocket, it was
old but well maintained, the same guy responsible for making us leave, in a way he s also responsible
for getting us home. A tear rolled down his cheek. There was a sickening crack of rotten wood
followed by a yelp from behind him. Enzalie quickly rubbed the tears from his eyes and repocketed
the knife before turning around. Zain had one leg up to his ankle in a new hole, he had managed to
stop himself from falling further by gripping the doorframe. The half shapeshifter had managed a
death grip on the wooden frame by transforming his finger into hard, sharp points. Sorry, you, uh, find
anything? Zain asked as he returned his foot to solid ground. Enzalie took a sideways glance at the
stairs, he wasn t sure he wanted to risk going upstairs. No, just, bad memories and dust. He looked
back over at his friend, his eyes drawn to the almost metalic look of the fingers stuck into the wood.
This place is really a mess, do you still think we can fix it up? Zain struggled nonchalantly to pull his
fingers free from the wood, they did not

adolescents delayed the use of contraception all the way up until a year or more of being sexually

inconsistent use of contraception is due to teens finding it difficult to to access and non judgemental

China. James Estrin wrote that Women often have difficulty finding suitable husbands and are

Analysis Of Kim Kardashian And Kayne West Essay
Most people have idolized a celebrity at one point in their life, yet how far are we willing to allow that
idolization to control our life? Idolization of celebrities help to play a sizable role in the actions of the
individuals that make up our society. Kim Kardashian is a well known celebrity in today s society,
who has an extensive amount of fans. This particular photo is from a spread that Vogue did over Kim
Kardashian and Kayne West in their quest for world domination and the perfect wedding dress
(Bowles 208). Vogue s cover over the multi million dollar couple offered a glimpse into their
extravagant lifestyle. Kim shares these bona fide moments of her life in order to help preserve her an
image as a genuine celebrity. This photograph of Kim Kardashian, shot for a Vogue spread, represents
an image of authenticity as an integral component in the creation of a successful celebrity.
At first glance, the viewer s eyes are drawn to Kim standing in the middle of the room which makes
her the center of attention. Everyone else in the room is situated in way to form a semi circle around
Kim, as if to say they are lesser than her and she is the most important. The Vouge shot image is a full
shot of the whole room, yet still demands direct attention to be given to Kim in the middle of the
room. Furthermore, the full shot also helps to make Kim appear larger and more paramount than the
rest of the people in the room. This full shot is used in a way to capture each person and

The Importance Of Faith And Belief
Human beings have an inherent faith and belief system regardless of whether they are aware of it. It
originates from traditions and upbringing and is the center of one s being. Faith and belief have
different content and methods of questioning and understanding the content. It is important to
understand the difference and not to interchange faith and belief because it can cause
misunderstandings and negative consequences. William K. Clifford and Paul Tillich define faith and
faith through descriptions of what they are, what they are not, and how one can reach good faith and
belief through asking the right questions based on types of doubt. As a result of faith and belief being
elements of the total person and the impact that one s person has on faith and belief, it is essential to
know the discrepancies between each.
According to Tillich, faith is a matter of ultimate concern that promises total fulfillment (Tillich, 1).
Concern is content that is infinite and valued at the core of human beings. Ultimate refers to
something that is put above all other values and involves sacrifice as it orients our lives to reach an
infinite goal of fulfillment. Faith is an act of the total personality (Tillich, 4). It comes from the center
of our being and includes all aspects of a person s life. Genuine faith requires existential doubt which
involves questioning even when a finite answer does not exist. It is a risk to put faith in something that
is not finite or capable of being

Is The Difference Between Henry David Thoreau And E. B. White
Walden Pond, located in Concord, Massachusetts, was a place of inspiration for two well known
authors, Henry David Thoreau and E.B. White. Although, they wrote about the same place, their
experiences were a century apart. Thoreau visited the lake in 1854 where technology still wasn t as
advanced as it was in 1939 when White visited the historical site leading to a different feel for the
place. The authors style of approaching the view of the lake has both similar and different effects
when using point of view, imagery, and logos. In comparison, Thoreau and White use the first person
point of view in their writings, but in contrast they do not have same writing style. Thoreau writes
about his surroundings and writes with serenity. With many details he describes how the forest brings
calm to your soul and you feel connected to God and there is nothing to really care for. He writes
without a real purpose, it seems as if he is rambling to the audience about his thoughts and feelings
indicating them that they should live in simplicity. Thoreau has no real interest in convincing his
audience to go live in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thoreau s main message in the story was that humans are supposed to live a simple life and that
getting closer to nature would help the human race reach that simplicity in life. He compares us as
mad ants that are always busy, rushing and we always have something to do. Thoreau goes into details
when he describes the mountains and the morning dew and his morning routines and with the vivid
vision he connects it all back to serenity. White, on the other hand, uses imagery to describe how
technology has advanced since Thoreau had been there. He informs Thoreau that Walden Pond had
become the states property and there are signs all over the site such as no swimming in the pond and
that the pond now had water fountains and people would take their boats to the

Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model
Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model
Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers
throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology,
and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of
Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of
Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift
of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder (World
Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability.
Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To
accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These
components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body
functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d)
participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and
impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). The three
aspects of (a)

ecological happenings are creating a world where animals are going extinct at rapid rates. Our world is
on the brink of what scientists believe is the sixth mass extinction. Unlike the five previous mass
extinction, the latest one killing a majority of the dinosaurs, the main causes for this current extinction
are anthropogenic reasons, not natural events.
Scientists calculate that without humans about one to five species would die a year, which is
considered the background rate of extinction. But in our current society human activities are

If the genetic diversity between different individuals in the species the rate for genetic diseases and
problems increases and that can threaten the integrity of the species. This is common within species
with small number of wild populations. With the Species Survival Plan, the zoos would each be given
a breeding pair with larger numbers of genetic differences and then are bred to produce high genetic
variability. The new young will then be matched with an animal of the opposite to continue the
process and increase the population of genetically different species (Species Survival PlanÂź (SSP)
Programs).
One specific examples of a species that has had some success with the Species Survival Plan is the
Amur Leopard. The Amur leopard is critically endangered with only an estimated 30 to 40 adults left
in the wild. The Species Survival Plan thus far has been able to boost the population with an estimated
50 adults to be in the wild by the end of 2015. This would be a 75 percent increase from the estimate
numbers in 2012. Before the Species Survival Plan, inbreeding was a danger to the integrity of the
Amur Leopard, but with the increase of the wild population and the population in zoos around the
world, the species looks to continue its rebound (Amur Leopards).

America Makes Us Different Essay
I think America is defined by what makes us different. When i think of America i think of a blended
country with many different people and races. You normally think of blacks, whites, mexicans,
indians, italians, Germans, irish, gays, transgenders, etc. We are all coexistent with each other but
different. There s many different types of people it s not just americans. For example rednecks and city
people. They are very different from each other city people are proper and don t do many reckless
things and aren t as crazy they are more calm and smarter and successful, they strive to do more. Most
are even advocates. Where rednecks are crazy and reckless and don t make the smartest decisions.
They are more likely to be bigotry. They make more excessively bad decisions than most normal city
people would. They are more street smart than book smart. But they have more fun than city people
who are continuously working and striving. They are still both americans but are disparate from each
other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Wireless Communication Advantages And Disadvantages
ABSTRACT
In this global world of technologies where the communication is being modern day by day, on every
other day the new technologies are being invented so in this vast world of growing technologies the
cognitive radio network is another addition and a step toward fast and secure communication.
Cognitive radio network is the network used for wireless communication which uses the spectrum of
frequencies. It is an intelligent network in a sense that it can recognize the channels in use or vacant,
the ability of this network is that it can shift the data on vacant channel without letting the other busy

It is an amazing approach toward the wireless technology being used in present era of technology
where the radios will be able to use the spectrum of frequencies in a new and classy way. This
technology will be able to sense and identify the changes environmentally in its surrounding and can
change its configuration according to present situations so that CRN can demonstrate the best result
which can be achieved. The CRN use most probable techniques by which the quality of
communication can be improved. This technology is able to modify or change the parameters of its
transmitter for an improved communication experience for user. The radios used earlier were carried
with an assumption of working on spectrum band considered as to be idle of interference there was no
need of bestowing these radios the ability to change the parameters of its transmitter, channel or
spectrum. Through distinction xMax cognitive radios are able to sense the environment excellently by
which then the CRN will notice which spectrum is not used thus immediately use the vacant spectrum
for receiving and sending the data also it will come to know if there is any sort of interference has
occurred on frequencies being used it do pay sharp glimpse on such interference. Whereas Amax hunts
out the limitations of interference occurred. The CRN simply works on four simple techniques,
spectrum sensing, spectrum management, spectrum sharing and spectrum mobility. Spectrum sensing

The Collapse Of Enron And Enron
Two organizations that will live on in infamy in the business world are World Com and Enron. These
names are synonymous with the largest corporate scandals in US history. Their failure to live by
ethical and moral codes resulted in bankruptcy, large financial losses to employees and shareholders as

parties shined a light on the accounting profession and resulted in several changes in the industry that

downfall and bankruptcy of Enron in 2001.
The accounting scandal committed by Enron is somewhat complex and involves many serious

Hg Wells The Time Machine Essay
The Time Machine
The Time Machine is a social critique of Victorian England by H.G. Wells, wrote with the future in
mind. Wells was a socialist who most supported Communists theories and applications. In all his
works, both non fiction and novels, he looked at capitalism and argued that it was one of the greatest
ills that the modern society was facing and would probably continue to face many years later. The
advent of technology, capital mechanism, and education paved the way for the Industrial Revolution
between the 17th and 18th Centuries, and the effects were felt up to the end of the 19th century. The
Time Traveler depicted in The Time Machine was leading in economic power. The industrialists by
that time were still laboring for long hours in smoke filled and dirty factories, with meager earnings
(Taunton n.p).
Wells took it upon himself to make his argument against capitalism well understood by incorporating

This is the law of a capitalist system, where one group must have power over another group (Taunton
n.p.).
The Time Machine is a science fiction that seeks to warn society about the effects of a capitalist
system that were becoming more pronounced towards the end of the nineteenth century. As Marx puts
it, freedom is an elusive concept. Individuals are motivated by their selfish interests geared
economically, well illustrated by the resulting revolt that will be experienced when the Morlocks have

Pure, Hybrid, Stuck-in-the-Middle Strategies
Pure, hybrid or stuck in the middle strategies? A revision and analysis of their effects on firm

Paris (France), may 2007. Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the viability of hybrid
competitive strategies, which combine differentiation and cost elements, and their impact on
organisational performance in comparison to pure strategies and stuck in the middle combinations.
The analysis carried out on a multisectorial sample of 164 Spanish firms has revealed that a large
number of them use different types of hybrid strategies and also that such strategies tend to be

1 2 The present paper seeks to contribute to this debate about the influence of pure and hybrid
strategies on performance in various ways. Firstly, this research study takes a further step toward the
generalisation of the results of previous works by carrying out a multisectorial analysis. Secondly, the
study has used data about Spanish firms; it must be remembered that empirical research had so far
basically centred on US data (Ghobadian, Veettil and O Regan, 2006). In this respect, Spain can prove
to be an interesting context for the study of competitive strategies because it is a country which has
experienced a significant economic development in recent years, competition via differentiation
having acquired more and more importance as opposed to costs. Thirdly, few studies have had as their
specific main aim to check the relationship between hybrid strategies and performance. Further
theoretical work and additional replications are thus needed to refine methodologies (Campbell Hunt,
2000; Fritz, 2006; Parnell, 1997). The present paper will therefore try to perform a statistical analysis
of the effect caused by pure and hybrid competitive strategies on performance. Finally, the stuck in the
middle concept has been examined in depth, analysing, too, its implications for performance
compared to pure and hybrid strategies, a topic that few studies had dealt with so far. In order to
achieve our aims, we have

The Role Of Myrtle Wilson In The Great Gatsby
In the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the American Dream is an important motif.
Almost all the characters dreams are mentioned and almost all of their dreams are not fulfilled, but
one particular character s attempt to achieve this dream leads to their morbid downfall. Myrtle Wilson
s American Dream is to marry the aristocratic Tom Buchanan, but we see that she does not achieve
this dream by annoying Tom, and then dying at the end of the novel. First, by annoying Tom and
therefor being insubordinate, Myrtle does not achieve her dream. The novel states, Sometime forwards

whether Mrs. Wilson had any right to mention Daisy s name (Fitzgerald 37). This is an example from
the novel where we see Myrtle arguing with Tom and being insubordinate. She had recently

The Effects of Stereotype Threat and Self Enhancement on Self Esteem Stereotypes or widely held
and oversimplified beliefs about a person or thing have both pros and cons and we are all guilty of
using them. Although they have made life easier by helping us quickly navigate the world and have
helped us understand different cultures norms and values they can also turn sour when they undermine
a culture by portraying them in a negative light. Negative stereotypes about African Americans are an
example of this. Today s culture is filled with stereotypes about African Americans. For instance,
according to Welch (2007) In American society, a prevalent representation of crime is that it is
overwhelmingly committed by young Black men (p. 276). Continuing on, Welch (2007) notes that the
image of a young Black male as a violent and menacing street thug is fueled and perpetuated by
typifications everywhere (p. 276). Such stereotypes can play a major role in how one views a
particular group and if one is part of that in group, how they might view themselves. Nonetheless, my
group chose to focus specifically on stereotype threat. Stereotype threat is defined as the fear of
confirming a negative stereotype about one s in group. Our experiment attempted to ... Show more

Much of the past exploration on stereotype threat has focused on the effects of stereotype threat on
academic performance in African Americans. For example, research by Aronson and Inzlicht (2004)
found that Black participants who were stereotype vulnerable seemed to have less clear academic self
concepts than other participants. Specifically, they exhibited more numerous and more extreme highs
and lows in their academic self efficacy than Blacks who were not stereotype vulnerable and than
Whites more generally. Blacks with low stereotype vulnerability, in contrast, had academic efficacy as

2. INTRODUCTION 2.1 Meaning of Databases and compilations
Databases in copyright are principally kinds of compilation, and compilations are seen as things that
are being protected . So in defining compilation, we can say that A compilation is defined in the § 101
definitions section as: A work formed by the collection and assembling of pre existing materials or of
data that are selected, coordinated, or arranged in such a way that the resulting work as a whole
constitutes an original work of authorship.
This evidences that the protection of copyright in a compilation emphasizes and concentrates on the
original ways that the data or materials that pre existed are arranged, organized, coordinated and
selected, not the data. In s. 102 the subject clearly shows and comprises of compilations and derivative
works, but only

The soldiers fired on the crowd killing five and injuring many more. The soldiers were arrested on

will try their case. Every lawyer, not wanting their reputations to be diminished, because they would
be siding with the British soldiers, they enlist the help of John Adams. Who is a stout supporter for the
law, justice, and innocence, he accepts the case; even though he and his family may become
endangered. The trial began on October 24, 1770. Going into the trial Adams realized that it would be
an uphill battle, faced with a Bostonian jury and the threats and badgering against anyone who would
be a witness. Adams has to convince the jury that Captain Preston did not order his men to fire, and
were attacked by the crowd, while also proving that the crowd was a mob rather than a lawful
assembly. From an eye witness that was standing next to the Captain proclaims that he did not tell his
soldiers to fire. More witness confirm that the crowd was carrying clubs and sticks, while throwing
oyster shells, snowballs, and rocks at the soldiers. The most alarming find was that some witnesses
confess that the crowd was daring the soldiers to fire. Through

Discrimination in Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear...
Discrimination in the Short Stories, Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear Alphonse, and The Lottery
The trait of discrimination is the basis for the stories, Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear Alphonse,
and Lottery. Discrimination is when someone is hated or acted upon negatively for the reason of race,
sex, or nationality. In the short stories the author s feelings of discrimination are expressed through the
characters differently. In these stories the author has his own feelings and thought depicted through the
characters. By the popular theme of discrimination and racism it suggests that these stories were
written in the late sixties early seventies.
In the story Harrison Bergeron the whole country is handicapped except for ... Show more content on

This shows discrimination against everyone because they are taking that person s freedom away and
judging them on their looks and abilities. A man named Harrison who would be a sport super star in
real life because of his outstanding talent is fitted with weights and other handicaps to make him like
everyone else. He revolts and overcomes his handicaps but is soon killed for breaking the law. In this
story discrimination plays a big part in how the main character revolts.
The next example is in the story, after you my dear alphonse. In this story a boy becomes friends with
an African American boy named Boyd and brings him home for lunch, when he gets home his mother
is shocked to see her son with this boy. The mother assumes that the father works hard labor in the
fields and that the boy will grow up and do the same. But that?s not the case, the boys father works in
a factory. This is an example of discrimination because the mother assumes things just because he is
black.
The last example of discrimination as a theme for a short story is in The Lottery. In this story a
community has a lottery every year and the winner is stoned to death. The theme of discrimination is
shown when they just pick a random person and kill them. That discriminates against that person
because they show hate for little or no reason.

Analysis Of. Eliot s Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
In T.S. Eliot s Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Prufrock invites the reader on a journey with him
through his story of love, or love that never was. He speaks to the reader as his love lost and asks her
to stick with him on his journey through time, to learn why their love never transpired. He begins by
showing her his decisions as a young adult, optimistic and confident in time, to prepare for her. Time
goes by, he is now middle aged and insecure of his appearance, now in fear of her rejection and unsure
if he has missed his window. Nearing the end of the poem he has grown older still, having wasted all
time, knowing now that his love story will never be, he is ready to show his lost love, why. Young
Adult Prufrock begins as lite hearted and carefree. He invites his love on a walk at dusk through the
sleazy streets of their town. Begging her not to question him just yet of where they are going, Oh do
not ask what is it let us go and make our visit. (Eliot) Prufrock is confident in time, comfortable in
procrastinating. There will be time, there will be time, to prepare a face to meet the faces that you
meet; there will be time to murder and create; and time for all the works and days of hands that lift and
drop a question on your plate: time for you and time for me, (Eliot) Looking further into the text here,
it leaves the impression that he is stringing the love along, expecting her to wait until he is ready,
assuming that she will always be there when he decides

Political factor
It s a trend that the Chinese government increasingly open market to foreign investors by reducing the
barriers of entry. Recently, the State Council of China has altered the foreign investment policies,
encouraged and supported the foreign investment on the service sector, especially the labour intensive
but environmental friendly business in low developed central or western China (Chen Liang, 2010).
The government has also permitted the foreign investors to set up partnership business with local
firms (Cao Tai, 2009) rather than formerly approved options of joint venture and wholly owned. On
the other hand, the current government and communist party are working to ease the social inequality.
The minimum wage and annual income protection have been approved and increased in China at
present (Wang et.al., 2009). Also, they have promoted the establishment of government led labour
union in major foreign business and expect to require all of them to set up in later (Kahn, 2006), which
aim to create official approved labour protection chapter and collective bargaining in foreign firms.
Economic factor
At present, the Chinese economy has partly recovered from previous strike of global economic crisis.
With sizable fiscal stimulus in public sector and release of massive lending in recent years,

Examples Of Duty Based Ethics
Duty Based Ethics
Duty based ethics can be defined as actions that (independent of consequences) are right or wrong.
Duty based ethics states that we are morally obligated to act in accordance with a certain set of
principles and rules regardless of outcome. We are all obliged to fulfill our duties and to act to fulfill
these duties (Shakil, 2014)
Nurse
In the film Nurse Evers played a major role in her involvement with the Tuskegee study. Ms. Evers
was assigned to monitor the experiment and to ensure the cooperation of the patients throughout the
time of the experiment. Although she had some apprehensions about the aims and necessities for the
study such as the lack of enlightening the patients of their conditions and the treatment for syphilis,
she thought that her job as a professional nurse was to follow the orders of the doctors. According to
the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics (2001), states that a nurse is required to protect the
public from misinformation and misrepresentation and to maintain the integrity of nursing. Nurse
Evers violated this principle of code of ethics when misinformed the patients about their actual
medical status and hiding information that there was no treatment for syphilis even when the penicillin
became available. Miss Evers found herself in an unfavorable predicament. She didn t want ... Show

Do no harm is also one of the most basic principles of the medical profession. In the movie Dr.
Broadus reminded the other doctor that the patients came first and emphasized do no harm . He was
outraged by the proposal to replace existing treatment with a placebo since the studies on white men
done in previous research only traced the cause of the disease. He didn t want to subject the patients to
the study without treating them. This showed that Dr. Broadus believed in his ethics as a doctor to
ensure no harm came to his patients.

Family guy is a dysfunctional family that lives in Quahog, Rhode Island. The parents: Peter and Lois.
The children: the oldest, Meg, the middle child, Chris and the baby is Stewie. Last but not least, the
dog Brian. This TV show exhibits crude, adult humour. There are many different opinions on this
show, many parents are ok with letting there children watch it and other refuse to do so because of the
kind of humour some parents are on edge. So is family guy a negative influence on children? I believe

This is just a tiny bit of what happens in the show. This show is very negative on children and they
way they will interact with other in public. They also make fun of amputees, this can be very harmful
to the way children interact with other kids that have this kind of problem example Joe is Peter
Griffins neighbour and there is an episode that says no legs no service.
Also, this show is a very sexist show, they always make reference to women being in the kitchen and
that is all they re good at for example, in one episode peter tells Louis that making sandwiches and
babies are the only thing she is good for. This kind of behaviour shows to young children that women
are no good for anything because that is how the men on this show treat the women. There s also lots
of coarse language towards women, for example Quagmire a neighbours always has many women
over to his house for pleasurable reasons and you hear him call them names like whores, bitches, sluts
and more this foul language towards women is another bad influence. Also peter has a teenage
daughter Meg, everyone in the show is mean to her. This girl is treated very badly for example in an
episode she had sexual intercourse with a guy and a little after that the guy Brandon, broke up with
her, in another episode she has another boyfriend Luke and Louis, her mother stole

Sodium Bicarbonate Lab
Introduction: A mixture, unlike a compound, can be separated by physical means. There are multiple
ways in which a mixture can be separated; furthermore, the ways it can be separated is based on what
the mixture is made up of. The mixture of sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate can be separated
due to the different temperatures at which the carbonate and bicarbonate decompose. This separation
is the focus of the experiment. The bicarbonate decomposes when heated by the Bunsen burner. The
carbonate also will decompose but at a much higher temperature. So, when the bicarbonate is heated it
decomposes into carbonate, and during the decomposition it releases water and carbon dioxide.
Furthermore, the amount of water and carbon dioxide released can be found by finding the difference
in mass of the original mixture (before heating) and the final mixture (after heating). The mass of the
water and carbon dioxide can be used to find the percent composition of bicarbonate in the mixture.
Results:

Mass of Crucible and Lid 32.479 grams

Thus, assuming crucible was fully cooled after heating crucible and bicarbonate, the original mass of
crucible and bicarbonate/carbonate mixture minus the mass of crucible and bicarbonate/carbonate

amount of oxygen gas and carbon dioxide, the new lesser calculated bicarbonate divided by the added
amount of sodium bicarbonate would decrease the percent of

Abstract Automatic recognition of people is a challenging problem which has received much attention
during recent years due to its many applications in different fields. Face recognition is one of those
challenging problems and up to date, there is no technique that provides a robust solution to all
situations. This paper presents a technique for human face recognition. A self organizing program is
used to identify if the subject in the input image is present or not present in the image database. Face
recognition with Eigen values is carried out by classifying Eigen values in both images. The main
advantage of this technique is its high speed processing capability and low computational
requirements, in terms of both speed, accuracy and memory utilization. The goal is to implement the
system for a particular face and distinguish it

Class Moe The Reasons for the Success of the Bolsheviks and the Outcomes for Their Success
The Bolsheviks played quite a successful role in the October Revolution. There were many reasons
that helped the Bolsheviks seize power and transform Russia into a modern socialist society namely,
the weakness of the provisional government, Lenin s great leadership, Trotsky s control, and finally,
the Bolsheviks successful propaganda. These acts shaped the Bolshevik Party and gained it social,
political, and economic support from the lower classes. This all resulted in both the creation of the
Soviet Union and the Civil War. The Bolsheviks went from being an insignificant radical party to a
political ruling majority.

control the numerous problems in Russia. The Provisional Government s bad decision of continuing
the war led to inflation in the economy, bad living conditions for the lower classes. The great demand
of food for the soldiers led to extreme hunger issues for the peasants and workers. Therefore, the
peasants anger made them attack and capture nobles lands. The Provisional Government couldn t

Homeschooling In School
Home schooling has become one of the most popular ways of learning in recent years. What is
homeschooling? Homeschooling is the way to teach the children at home by their parents instead of
sending them to a public or private school. Homeschooling represents an additional choice for parents
to teach their children by themselves. The number of homeschooled children has increased over time.
It has increased from 0 to 2 million students (Institute of Education Science, 2013). Families have
various reasons for homeschooling, including concerns about the school environment and
dissatisfaction with the academic instruction at a traditional school (NCES,2008). Also, research

In addition, homeschooling let parents reassured that their children are safe. Parents do not have to be
worried about their children every day when they go to their school and when they back to home
because their children are in their sights. Many parents seek a safer environment for children and
youth, because of physical violence, drugs and alcohol, psychological abuse, and improper and
unhealthy sexuality associated with institutional schools (Ray,2011). Minority families have also
identified racism in the schools as a motivator to homeschool (Mazama Lundy, 2012). The third
benefit of homeschooling is that homeschooling provides more freedom for students. Homeschooling
provides more free time for students. Students who are homeschooled, they do not have classes every
day, which they should attend, they can study anywhere and anytime they would like. In addition,
students who are homeschooled, they do not have an instructor who gives them instructions and orders
which the students should follow these instructions even if they are not convinced by it, or if they do

Allegory and Symbolism in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young...
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown is an excellent example of the use of allegories and
symbolism as a form of satire on Puritan faith. According to Frank Preston Stearns, author of The Life
and Genius of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hawthorne may have intended this story as an exposure of the
inconsistency, and consequent hypocrisy, of Puritanism (Stearns 181). Throughout the story of Young
Goodman Brown, Hawthorne tries to infuse as many symbols and allegories as he can to enhance the
overall meaning of his story. He uses the village, Goodman Brown, Faith, the man in the forest, and
the time spent in the forest as either a symbol or an allegory to get his point across that Puritans are
not always what they seem to be. One of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the audience is aware of these two pieces of information they can infer that the allegory
Hawthorne is writing about is how he sees faith transitioning from a young faith to an adult faith of a
Puritan. Brown in the beginning of the story is a young Puritan with young faith, but by the end of the
story he has changed into an adult and does not know if he has faith anymore. Although Brown s faith
is questionable the books states that he continues to pray and go to church (Hawthorne 337), which
would be considered hypocritical to some. If Brown s name is exchanged with Hawthorne s the
readers can see why he saw the Puritans hypocritical and why he left his faith. Notably Faith, the
protagonist s wife, plays a huge role as an allegory and a symbol throughout Hawthorne s Young
Goodman Brown. In this story Faith s name plays as an allegory. At first this could easily be missed
because it sounds like a common name for a woman, but once the readers get further into the story
they realize that her name plays an enormous role in the story s plot. Faith s name symbolizes Brown s
faith in God. In the story when Brown meets the man in the forest the man says, You are late
Goodman Brown, and Brown replies, Faith kept me back awhile (Hawthorne 330). At this point of the
story the audience knows for

1950s Women s Magazines
Right of the bat, the 1950s saw magazine and publishing companies facing an exponential growth in
popularity. Due in part to the public s fear of both the Cold War and the Korean War , family oriented

2. Detail one: I think this is the targeted audience because he speaks to the audience saying that you

  • 2. Citizen Security Policy The police plays a key role in any political regime. Whether liberal democracy or an authoritarian regime, the police is responsible for internal security, law enforcement and channeling the claims of justice. The actions of the police are linked to the performance of the regime, given that they are the center of how the states responds to everyday problems. The police, not the members or mayors, are usually the first public officials to whom people look to when security problems occur. The perceptions of citizens on police work are therefore an important component in the legitimacy of the system than confidence in other policies, such as congress, the political parties or the executive institutions. Citizen Security Policy In the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Primarily through a legal and political system of democratic type that fully guarantees its development, safety and well both individually and collectively. The democratic state as the realization of the power of an organized society can only make use of coercion and force within a legitimate and legal system. To do this there needs to be a democratic structure, security privileges of the human person and set distance to other models such as the set for the duration of the doctrine of the National security where the beneficiary was unquestionably the authoritarian state. These changes mean that the protection of democratic values and respect for a person are not strictly an internal issue, but it becomes a foundational value protected by the internal community. In that sense, the boundaries between internal and external have faded, creating a state of sovereignty. It concludes that the issue of public safety, with an idea that is preferably applied within sovereignty of a state extended to the concepts of not only regional but global security and within them the idea that there are international crimes and crimes against humanity that threaten the security of states and their citizens. • 3. Competition In Hesiod s Work And Days In Hesiod s Work and Days, competition is frowned upon if it gets too strong, but in Homer s pieces, even petty, mostly unconstructive competition is encouraged. Hesiod proposes that there are actually two kinds of strife in his society, so one [kind of strife] fosters evil war and battle, being cruel: her no man loves...But the other [kind of strife makes] a man grow eager to work when he considers his neighbor (Readings in Greek History 16). In Work and Days, Hesiod argues that so called good strife is beneficial for human society, but that this strife should have a limit and should stop when it becomes irrelevant. Hesiod s good strife involves friendly competition, for example, if a man sees his neighbor being more successful than he is, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hearing Aid Process The hearing aid fitting process of PEI begins by running a full audiometric test battery on the patient. They begin with tympanometry, and then follow up with pure tones, speech and bone testing. If need be, they continue with any special testing that may be deemed necessary following the results of the audiometric testing. If a patient seems like a good hearing aid candidate you can perform QuickSin, which is used to determine how the patient would understand speech in noisy situations. LDLs may also be done to obtain the patient s loudness discomfort level, which ensures that their hearing add is not fit to be louder than what is comfortable for the patient. After the test results are obtained and explained to the patient, their expectations of a hearing aid are determined. This can be achieved via the APHAB, COSI and ECHO, which are commonly used at PEI. These tests are also used to determine what type of listening environments the patients are in, their motivation for wearing hearing aids and the areas in which they are having problems hearing. After this is done the audiologist determines what type of hearing aid would be best the patient, using the previously listed questionnaires and test results as well as the patient s dexterity, vision and cosmetic needs. • 5. Enzalie Alternate Ending Enzalie sighed sadly, loose pebbles crunching beneath his feet with every step. He could see his destination in the distance, it was a miracle that the old place was still standing after all this time. Two decades had past, twenty long years. He should have come back sooner, he paused. He should have been back here sooner, with his brother. His hand clenched around the hilt of the old dagger in his pocket. ...looks like we ve come full circle, bro. Enzalie fought back tears, smiling softly. This was it, this was home. As he got closer he could see that the front door was off the hinges, this was not surprising. He let out a chuff of laughter. ...it s kinda funny, Gize. he withdrew the dagger from his pocket, it was old but well maintained, the same guy responsible for making us leave, in a way he s also responsible for getting us home. A tear rolled down his cheek. There was a sickening crack of rotten wood followed by a yelp from behind him. Enzalie quickly rubbed the tears from his eyes and repocketed the knife before turning around. Zain had one leg up to his ankle in a new hole, he had managed to stop himself from falling further by gripping the doorframe. The half shapeshifter had managed a death grip on the wooden frame by transforming his finger into hard, sharp points. Sorry, you, uh, find anything? Zain asked as he returned his foot to solid ground. Enzalie took a sideways glance at the stairs, he wasn t sure he wanted to risk going upstairs. No, just, bad memories and dust. He looked back over at his friend, his eyes drawn to the almost metalic look of the fingers stuck into the wood. This place is really a mess, do you still think we can fix it up? Idolization of celebrities help to play a sizable role in the actions of the individuals that make up our society. Kim Kardashian is a well known celebrity in today s society, who has an extensive amount of fans. This photograph of Kim Kardashian, shot for a Vogue spread, represents an image of authenticity as an integral component in the creation of a successful celebrity. • 10. The Importance Of Faith And Belief Human beings have an inherent faith and belief system regardless of whether they are aware of it. It originates from traditions and upbringing and is the center of one s being. Faith and belief have different content and methods of questioning and understanding the content. It is important to understand the difference and not to interchange faith and belief because it can cause misunderstandings and negative consequences. William K. Clifford and Paul Tillich define faith and faith through descriptions of what they are, what they are not, and how one can reach good faith and belief through asking the right questions based on types of doubt. As a result of faith and belief being elements of the total person and the impact that one s person has on faith and belief, it is essential to know the discrepancies between each. According to Tillich, faith is a matter of ultimate concern that promises total fulfillment (Tillich, 1). Concern is content that is infinite and valued at the core of human beings. Ultimate refers to something that is put above all other values and involves sacrifice as it orients our lives to reach an infinite goal of fulfillment. Faith is an act of the total personality (Tillich, 4). It comes from the center of our being and includes all aspects of a person s life. Genuine faith requires existential doubt which involves questioning even when a finite answer does not exist. It is a risk to put faith in something that is not finite or capable of being ... Thoreau visited the lake in 1854 where technology still wasn t as advanced as it was in 1939 when White visited the historical site leading to a different feel for the place. The authors style of approaching the view of the lake has both similar and different effects when using point of view, imagery, and logos. In comparison, Thoreau and White use the first person point of view in their writings, but in contrast they do not have same writing style. Thoreau writes about his surroundings and writes with serenity. Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology, and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder (World Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability. Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d) participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). Wells was a socialist who most supported Communists theories and applications. In all his works, both non fiction and novels, he looked at capitalism and argued that it was one of the greatest ills that the modern society was facing and would probably continue to face many years later. The advent of technology, capital mechanism, and education paved the way for the Industrial Revolution between the 17th and 18th Centuries, and the effects were felt up to the end of the 19th century. Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the viability of hybrid competitive strategies, which combine differentiation and cost elements, and their impact on organisational performance in comparison to pure strategies and stuck in the middle combinations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1 2 The present paper seeks to contribute to this debate about the influence of pure and hybrid strategies on performance in various ways. Firstly, this research study takes a further step toward the generalisation of the results of previous works by carrying out a multisectorial analysis. Secondly, the study has used data about Spanish firms; it must be remembered that empirical research had so far basically centred on US data (Ghobadian, Veettil and O Regan, 2006). In this respect, Spain can prove to be an interesting context for the study of competitive strategies because it is a country which has experienced a significant economic development in recent years, competition via differentiation having acquired more and more importance as opposed to costs. Thirdly, few studies have had as their specific main aim to check the relationship between hybrid strategies and performance. Further theoretical work and additional replications are thus needed to refine methodologies (Campbell Hunt, 2000; Fritz, 2006; Parnell, 1997). The present paper will therefore try to perform a statistical analysis of the effect caused by pure and hybrid competitive strategies on performance. Finally, the stuck in the middle concept has been examined in depth, analysing, too, its implications for performance compared to pure and hybrid strategies, a topic that few studies had dealt with so far. Essay On Stereotype Threat The Effects of Stereotype Threat and Self Enhancement on Self Esteem Stereotypes or widely held and oversimplified beliefs about a person or thing have both pros and cons and we are all guilty of using them. Although they have made life easier by helping us quickly navigate the world and have helped us understand different cultures norms and values they can also turn sour when they undermine a culture by portraying them in a negative light. Negative stereotypes about African Americans are an example of this. Today s culture is filled with stereotypes about African Americans. For instance, according to Welch (2007) In American society, a prevalent representation of crime is that it is overwhelmingly committed by young Black men (p. 276). They also make fun of amputees, this can be very harmful to the way children interact with other kids that have this kind of problem example Joe is Peter Griffins neighbour and there is an episode that says no legs no service. Also, this show is a very sexist show, they always make reference to women being in the kitchen and that is all they re good at for example, in one episode peter tells Louis that making sandwiches and babies are the only thing she is good for. This kind of behaviour shows to young children that women are no good for anything because that is how the men on this show treat the women. There s also lots of coarse language towards women, for example Quagmire a neighbours always has many women over to his house for pleasurable reasons and you hear him call them names like whores, bitches, sluts and more this foul language towards women is another bad influence. Also peter has a teenage daughter Meg, everyone in the show is mean to her. This girl is treated very badly for example in an episode she had sexual intercourse with a guy and a little after that the guy Brandon, broke up with her, in another episode she has another boyfriend Luke and Louis, her mother stole ... • 29. Sodium Bicarbonate Lab Introduction: A mixture, unlike a compound, can be separated by physical means. There are multiple ways in which a mixture can be separated; furthermore, the ways it can be separated is based on what the mixture is made up of. The mixture of sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate can be separated due to the different temperatures at which the carbonate and bicarbonate decompose. This separation is the focus of the experiment. The bicarbonate decomposes when heated by the Bunsen burner. The carbonate also will decompose but at a much higher temperature. So, when the bicarbonate is heated it decomposes into carbonate, and during the decomposition it releases water and carbon dioxide. Furthermore, the amount of water and carbon dioxide released can be found by finding the difference in mass of the original mixture (before heating) and the final mixture (after heating). The mass of the water and carbon dioxide can be used to find the percent composition of bicarbonate in the mixture. Results: Measurement Mass Mass of Crucible and Lid 32.479 grams Mass of Crucible, Lid, and Mixture (whole) 34.505 grams Mass of whole After 1st Burn 33.851 grams Mass of whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, assuming crucible was fully cooled after heating crucible and bicarbonate, the original mass of crucible and bicarbonate/carbonate mixture minus the mass of crucible and bicarbonate/carbonate mixture after heating would make it appear the reaction yielded a lesser amount of oxygen gas and carbon dioxide than it actually did. And since the amount of bicarbonate is directly related to the amount of oxygen gas and carbon dioxide, the new lesser calculated bicarbonate divided by the added amount of sodium bicarbonate would decrease the percent of ... Sahmoud 1 Mahmoud Sahmoud Mr. Steven Negrete November 27th 2015 Class Moe The Reasons for the Success of the Bolsheviks and the Outcomes for Their Success The Bolsheviks played quite a successful role in the October Revolution. There were many reasons that helped the Bolsheviks seize power and transform Russia into a modern socialist society namely, the weakness of the provisional government, Lenin s great leadership, Trotsky s control, and finally, the Bolsheviks successful propaganda. These acts shaped the Bolshevik Party and gained it social, political, and economic support from the lower classes. This all resulted in both the creation of the Soviet Union and the Civil War. The Provisional Government s bad decision of continuing the war led to inflation in the economy, bad living conditions for the lower classes. The great demand of food for the soldiers led to extreme hunger issues for the peasants and workers. Therefore, the peasants anger made them attack and capture nobles lands. • 34. Homeschooling In School Home schooling has become one of the most popular ways of learning in recent years. What is homeschooling? Homeschooling is the way to teach the children at home by their parents instead of sending them to a public or private school. Homeschooling represents an additional choice for parents to teach their children by themselves. The number of homeschooled children has increased over time. It has increased from 0 to 2 million students (Institute of Education Science, 2013). Families have various reasons for homeschooling, including concerns about the school environment and dissatisfaction with the academic instruction at a traditional school (NCES,2008). In addition, homeschooling let parents reassured that their children are safe. Parents do not have to be worried about their children every day when they go to their school and when they back to home because their children are in their sights. Minority families have also identified racism in the schools as a motivator to homeschool (Mazama Lundy, 2012). The third benefit of homeschooling is that homeschooling provides more freedom for students. Homeschooling provides more free time for students. • 35. Allegory and Symbolism in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young... Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown is an excellent example of the use of allegories and symbolism as a form of satire on Puritan faith. According to Frank Preston Stearns, author of The Life and Genius of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hawthorne may have intended this story as an exposure of the inconsistency, and consequent hypocrisy, of Puritanism (Stearns 181). Throughout the story of Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne tries to infuse as many symbols and allegories as he can to enhance the overall meaning of his story. He uses the village, Goodman Brown, Faith, the man in the forest, and the time spent in the forest as either a symbol or an allegory to get his point across that Puritans are not always what they seem to be. One of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the audience is aware of these two pieces of information they can infer that the allegory Hawthorne is writing about is how he sees faith transitioning from a young faith to an adult faith of a Puritan. Brown in the beginning of the story is a young Puritan with young faith, but by the end of the story he has changed into an adult and does not know if he has faith anymore. Although Brown s faith is questionable the books states that he continues to pray and go to church (Hawthorne 337), which would be considered hypocritical to some. If Brown s name is exchanged with Hawthorne s the readers can see why he saw the Puritans hypocritical and why he left his faith. Notably Faith, the protagonist s wife, plays a huge role as an allegory and a symbol throughout Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown. In this story Faith s name plays as an allegory. At first this could easily be missed because it sounds like a common name for a woman, but once the readers get further into the story they realize that her name plays an enormous role in the story s plot. Faith s name symbolizes Brown s faith in God. In the story when Brown meets the man in the forest the man says, You are late Goodman Brown, and Brown replies, Faith kept me back awhile (Hawthorne 330).
