Should Father s Receive Paid Paternity Leave
In this day in age we find ourselves wondering if is feasible for men to get paid paternity leave, since
women get paid maternity leave after they have their baby. You have to really think about this though,
because not all companies pay women to take maternity leave. So why would we pay our men to take
paternity leave when not all women get paid when they have no choice but to take off after having a
baby. So I want you to ask yourself, Should father s get paid for paternity leave? There are some good
aspects to having the father take paternity leave. Say, companies did offer ... Show more content on

Having the father home will help with daycare cost when the mother goes back to work. There are
some potential downsides to men having paid paternity leave. Most countries make parental leave
open to both men and women; women take the vast majority of leave. When leave is long, this can
have some consequences for women s place in the labor market. For example, in Sweden parents have
the right to a parental leave for up to 18 months, but women take nearly 85% of parental leave. The
major goal of Swedish policy these days is to encourage men to take more parental leave; already
there are two month daddy only leaves, which are lost to the couple if the father doesn t take them.
The problem with fathers taking paternity leave is that the fathers are scared to take leave for the fear
that they may lose their jobs. Companies should offer paternity leave for expectant fathers. By
offering paternity leave for fathers to be companies allow fathers to be a benefit of paid or unpaid time
off work to care for their child, make arrangements for the child s welfare, and preparation for the
adoption of a child. Generally, offering paternity leave for fathers allows them to benefit the birth of a
child. Companies that provide the option of paternity leave grant these fathers the privilege of being
present for labor, delivery, and any other emergency procedures that may be necessary. Paternity leave
provides the father with an advantage to be able to care for their

Comparing Colonial And Revolutionary American Writers
Colonial and revolutionary American writers had quite a few differences, yet were quite similar as
well. The dominant interests of revolutionary writers were political and social, whereas the interests of
colonial writers were mainly religious and economic. Most of the colonial writers such as John Smith
mostly fled from religious persecution in Europe. For example, those aboard the Mayflower had quite
a number of pilgrims who had fled from England to Holland, seeking religious freedom. These
Pilgrims jumped at the chance to go to the New World, where they could worship however they
please. Revolutionary writers, like Benjamin Franklin, sought freedom from tyranny: they focused on
breaking free from English rule and taxes. They did not only

Unit Three: Lab Questions
1. What is the crime that the video focuses on?
The kidnapping and death of Charles Lindbergh Jr. The son of Charles Lindbergh was abducted from
his family home in 1932.
2.What evidence did investigators have about the crime in the 1930s?
That whoever kidnapped the baby used a ladder leaned up against the right side of the baby s unlocked
window. Also that they silence the baby because the parents did not hear any sign of struggle from the
room. Also that the criminals left the ladder next to a service road and used a car to get away. They
also left a ransom note on the babys window demanding 50,000 dollars for the baby s safe return. Plus
threatening Lindberg if he involved the police.
3. What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What evidence exists to suggest that he wasn t involved?
John Knoll was heard talking about the town that Lindbergh lived in. Also talking about the name
Bruno. Plus the person that was given the ransom money was named John. The last thing is the man
who received the ransom money described the man and he looked just like John Knoll, and he had an
abnormality on his hand which John Knoll did too.
7. What evidence exists to suggest that Charles Lindbergh himself was involved in the kidnapping and
death of his son? Do you agree or disagree with this theory? Why?
Well for the kidnappers to know that the Lindberghs were at the house they had to have inside source.
Lindbergh did not trust the police, used his influence to control the police, and kept all the ransom
notes. Also Lindbergh was said to think that his son was not going to be healthy and big like most
men. His feelings of having an imperfect child could have caused him to be involved. Yes i do agree
with this theory because men tend to be like that. They let what other people think get to them. A man
like that who everyone thinks is perfect having an imperfect child is a bad thing to him. He probably
wanted to keep that position of people thinking he is perfect and his family is too.
8. What evidence exists to suggest that Charles Lindbergh himself was involved in the kidnapping and
death of his son? Do you agree or disagree with this theory? Why?

What Was The Purpose Of The Asch Experiment
In chapter 5 of the textbook we learn about various groups and what they represent. A social group is
two or more people who identify with and interact with one another (Macionis 108). We also learned
about several different experiments and the understanding of each. Social groups are very important.
In the text book we learn about two different experiments. The Asch experiment includes a group of
students asking to compare two cards and to choose something on the card that matches the second
card. Many people in the experiment matched it correctly. Also there were people that would
constantly match the wrong ones on purpose. The purpose of the experiment was to recognize if any
of the participants of the experiment felt awkward during it. First of all they felt pressured to answer
correctly. Often when you are in a group of people you don t know you want to be as smart as you
can. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this experiment participants would either be the teacher or the learner. The learned was strapped
down to a shock chair and was challenged by the teacher to answer questions or understand different
things by the teacher. If the learned failed to answer correctly they were automatically shocked and the
more they got wrong the higher the voltage was. Milgram s purpose of the experiment was to notice
any increase in knowledge by the Learner. For example, did the learner try to answer more questions
correctly considering the learner was getting

Technology And Technology Today
Technology Today
The effects of technology with society has beneficial impacted the way we live. With technology is
providing many advantages, but also it has some disadvantages it has on children and adults. There is
little room for people that wish to live without technology, moreover than living the way they did in
the old days. Technology has its advantages, it s has changed the way people have communicated by
email, social media, the way traveling has improved.
Have you ever heard the saying Children are born with a cell phone in their hands? In today society,
children may not be born with technology in their hands, but they are introduced to it sometimes even
before they can even walk. Technology is so advanced than what it used to be, children as young as
babies can use it and learn from it. I am for my child using technology, to help learn and to expand her
mind. Everything that children see and interact with is involved with technology, for example:
cellphones, tablets, video games, and many other things.
In elementary school the students are mandatory to learn how to use the computers. This allows the
students to learn how to use the computer appropriately. Learning tools for school is at the student
figure tips. It s important for children to learn how to research topics, by using the web search.
Children also need to understand that not everything that they read is 100% accurate. Technology and
society: technology NOT by Virginia R. Jones. Studies show that in 2016 it was reported that 41% of

Should Sports Men Be Paid Research Paper
Introduction
Sportsmen receive more money than sportswomen in 30% of sports. This has become a hotly debated
topic, with some arguing professional sportsmen and sportswomen should receive an equal amount of
money, and others arguing sportswomen do not deserve to be paid equally. Should women in sport
receive equal pay to their male counterparts?
Two arguments FOR
Sportswomen effectively perform the same job as sportsmen, and thus deserve to be paid the same.
Women train just as hard as men and exert just as much energy as men when in professional sport.
Sportswomen also face the same difficulty of competition as sportsmen in professional sport:
sportswomen compete against the best sportswomen, and sportsmen compete against sportsmen.
Women should be paid the same as men for winning a tournament. No, it is not easier to win the
women s tournament than the men s tournament: again, sportswomen compete against the best
sportswomen, and sportsmen compete against best sportsmen. When you reach the pinnacle of your
sport you deserve to get paid as richly as another individual who ... Show more content on

Just look at boxing: heavyweight boxers will always defeat welterweight boxers due to a significant
body size and strength advantage, but this doesn t mean welterweight boxers are ignored. In fact, there
is great interest in lower weight classes: the highest grossing boxing event in history was a
welterweight clash (between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao). Sports entertainment is not
only about the players that win the most, but players that offer different styles of play. This concept
can be applied to women s sports, an example being women s tennis, where there is arguably more
technical skill required to win matches. Women are capable of offering the same level of
entertainment as men, and thus should receive equal opportunities to be broadcasted and thus equal

Prospero s Use Of Manipulation In The Tempest
Shakespeare, a renowned writer of the ages, often commented upon real world situations in his plays.
One of these such plays is The Tempest, a dramatic story entailing power struggles, slavery,
vengeance, a random island, and a lot of manipulation. The plot starts off riveting as Prospero, the
protagonist, employs one of his servants to create a storm and cause a ship to crash on his island.
Immediately following, dozens of plans are put into place with the survivors of the shipwreck that
ultimately brings every person on the island within his clutches. In the meantime, various subplots are
put into play among the various players of this dangerous (though metaphorical) game. Sailors and
servants plan to overthrow their masters, cut their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

he is threatened with afflictions such as terrible cramps that would plague him later in the day. For

Descriptive Essay On Home Sweet Home
Home Sweet Home
Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my
girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first hunt
in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly we were
staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses on Zillow.
Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we entered. We
anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing down the ideal
house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived.
We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me. One
day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every bullet point on
our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home had a large southern style
front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets. The open and light build was
perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two car garage complete with a custom peg wall
for tools and built in shelving. Not much further around the house was the back yard, large and
completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for me. We knew this was our house; it had to
be.
As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent s phone began to ring.

Destry Rides Again, Mr Smith Goes to Washington, and the Fall of the Hollywood Studio System
Thomas Schatz cites the 1950 s as the inevitable end of the Hollywood film studio system, with the
signs appearing as early as the height of the second World War (472). However, the seeds of
discontent and disintegration within the system were apparent as soon as the late 1930 s, exemplified
in such films as Destry Rides Again (1939, George Marshall) and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
(1939, Frank Capra). The production of these two films and the paths down which they led their star
(James Stewart), directors (at least Frank Capra), and studios (Universal and Columbia, respectively)
are evidence of the decline of the studio system. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The balance of power was thus tipped in favor of the individual filmmakers. These films also served
to launch James Stewart s career as a successful leading man (usually next to a star leading lady),
particularly in the western genre (The Man From Laramie, The Naked Spur, Winchester 73), as a
patriotic all American (It s a Wonderful Life, again with Capra), and working with and as an
independent (his infamous contract with Universal and his work with Alfred Hitchcock, both in the
1950 s). Destry Rides Again and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington also raise issues regarding the value
placed on dramatic and outright patriotic films in comparison to the value placed on films which serve
as mere entertainment. While Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is an overtly political film, Destry Rides
Again, in its own way, is highly political and both films reveal that the United States of 1939 was a
politically charged nation preparing itself subconsciously to take part in a worldwide war.
During the second half of the 1930s, Universal came under a completely new ownership. The
traditional owners, the Laemmle family, lost Universal at this time after leading it up and down the
mountains and valleys of success and failure. The new owner, J. Cheever Cowdin, set up Robert H.
Cochrane and Charles R. Rogers in charge of Universal. They kept the company going, sometimes by
thin margins, until the very end of the 1930s

Hymn Of Not Much Praise For New York City Poem Analysis
Hymn of Not Much Praise for New York City There are many literary devices at work in Thomas
James Merton s poem Hymn of Not Much Praise for New York City that contribute to the idea that
external appearances may not always reflect internal experiences. Merton uses analogies to prisons
and hospitals in addition to a number of references to cocaine and suicide in order to lead the reader in
understanding that New York City may look extravagant on the outside while the residents inside are
suffering. Thomas James Merton was a Trappist, which was a brotherhood of the Roman Catholic
Church known for its extremely quiet atmosphere. Although they did not take an official vow of
silence, Trappists are known as the monks who don t talk (Do Trappist ... Show more content on

Beginning in the first stanza where he describes New York City as being crazy as cocaine, the poem
includes a number of references to the drug, such as the term hopped up peace in the fourth stanza
which may refer to an exaggerated sense of tranquility that comes when one is under the influence of
cocaine. The third stanza includes what appears to be a description of how it feels to be on the drug,
with the idea of minds [filling] with [petitions] and gongs of pulse, which may be side effects of being
high. In the fifth stanza, Merton notes that the food in New York City tastes of iodoform. Iodoform has
been formerly used as a disinfectant, and can be linked to the clean, sterile smell of hospitals. This line
could suggest that many of the residents have been hospitalized because of overdoses or drug related
complications, and as a result, all the food they eat reminds them of being in the hospital. Merton is
able to lead the audience in believing that these people have been hospitalized due to drug overdoses
because he refers to them as [trying] to keep [their] cage from caving in (Merton, Stanza 3). This
could be a euphemism for mental breakdowns, including suicide, which could be a result of addiction.
This claim is later supported by the idea that the freshest flowers smell of funerals (Merton, Stanza 5).

How Does Hamlet Send People To Go To Heaven
During the era of Queen Elizabeth, people thought highly of God due to his power to send people to
heaven or hell in the afterlife. In Hamlet the characters actions are based on christian beliefs. Suicide,
for example, should not send you to heaven. Another example is right before death the characters ask
for forgiveness from God so they can try and go to heaven. These are pieces of evidence that provide
cultural and religious focuses into Hamlet to develop a better understanding.
In Denmark in the late 14th century of Hamlet God has power and authority. For example, Hamlet was
about to kill Claudius and chose not to because Claudius was praying and had he been asking for
forgiveness, then he would be going to Heaven. As said by Hamlet, Now

Miracles In The Book Grand Miracle By C. S. Lewis
Miracles by C.S Lewis centers on miracles in his book he wrote about the Grand Miracle which can be
found in chapter 14. He mentioned how these miracles and other biblical stories have influenced the
Christian worldview. In the sense that Miracle as laid this foundation for Christians and their basic
makeup of the world. He stated his views about miracles he believes there are two ways we can view
and interpret miracles which is nature and supernature. The fitness or credibility, of the Grand miracle
itself cannot obviously, be judged by the same standard (page 174). The people who view miracles
from a supernatural perspective accept that there is an empirical proof which is not just clear in history
that can validate all the importance of the Grand Miracle that the Christian religion believe exist.
While the people who view miracles using the natural perspective disagree that there is no any

The Importance Of Living A Happy Life
Many have trouble finding the ideal way to live a happy life but it may come to your surprise that the
answer can be found within yourself. A life worth living is waking up with a positive outlook on what
you do and who you are; for that is the key to having a comfortable, easy going life. If you focus on
what you have rather that what you don t have you ll be much better off, for gratefulness triumphs
over rapacity. Love yourself and others by being all you can be; until then the tranquility that comes
with said mindset will not be found. An individual s mindset can be the difference between haven and
hardship. By adopting optimistic qualities into to your daily way of life you ll immensely be better off
than those who see the glass half empty. Focusing on money or social status is not the way to be going
about living, as describe by Morrie stating how he finds materialistic things useless, Don t cling to
things, because everything is impermanent. (Albom, pg.103). Morrie became more connected with
reality near his death which raises the idea that perhaps the knowledge of the end opens the eyes to
what is truly worth holding dear for when time is of the essence the best should be made out of what is
left. Filling the void with expensive goods and or ranking one s self on some imaginary scale of
superiority is far from the mentality needed to find fulfillment. Instead become in tune with your
fellow man. You ll find that selflessness opens the door to an authentic

The film Malcolm X, produced by Worth, written and directed by Lee (1992) portrays the life of civil

to occur for Little, X s name at birth (Malcolm, 1992) when he begins his journey as a child. After
having lost his father to a tragic death, forcefully separated from his mother and siblings, and having
witnessed various injustices enacted against African Americans, he fostered a deep hatred for
European Americans (1992). Having been reared by foster parents who offered limited guidance, X
enters into a life of perpetual crime becoming a master mind of the streets. (Malcolm, 1992). Using his
knowledge to further his life of crime, he ultimately becomes a bi product of his environment (Worth

for transformative learning to occur; however, before he entered into the transformative learning
developmental stage, he underwent another phase in his learning experience referred to by Bandura

While in prison, X encounters former leader of the Islam nation, Elijah Mohammed. Before embracing

KP Video 6: Research Aim, Purpose and Hypotheses
This web based training is presented by Gretchen J. Summer RN, PhD. It is the sixth video in a series
of twenty that discuss nursing research. Here, she addresses the significance of research aim, purpose,
and hypotheses, which are crucial components in conducting research. Understanding these concepts
can help readers better understand research literature in order to make it applicable to practice. It can
also be useful in helping conduct future nursing research.
A research topic is defined as a concept or broad issue that is important. For example, in nursing
research a topic can be acute or chronic pain management, coping with illness, or health promotion.
Within each research topic, there is a potential for numerous research problems that in return can
result is different research studies. Usually, research problems guide the type of research methodology
the study will have. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aims answer the research question or hypothesis but often encompass broader targets such as
constructing recommendations for changes to nursing practice based on the results of a study. It is not
uncommon for research aims/objectives to not be expressed in research reports. More commonly, they
are found in written research proposals that detail plans for a research study before the research
begins.
A research purpose can be seen as a formal purpose statement in most research studies. This statement
can usually be captured in one to two sentences is can be interpreted as the essence of the study. The
purpose statement establishes the general direction of the research and provides a summary of its
overall purpose. The words purpose or goal typically appear in the purpose

Reasons for the failure of 1848- 1849 revolutions in...
The revolutionaries in Italy had longstanding grievances, some were nationalists and some were
liberals. Despite all having different ideas and aims they all resoundingly agreed that Italy needed
change. The hopes of the various revolutionary groups had been raised by the election of Pope Pius
and Charles Albert the King of Piedmont Sardinia. However, their hopes and resulting revolutions
were crushed due to many concerning factors. A crushing factor of the failure of the revolutions was
the trouncing of the Piedmontese army at both the battles of Novara and Custoza. These defeats were
resounding as the Piedmontese army had no chance against the might of the super power that was the
Austrian army. The Piedmontese army met the forces of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radetsky s army was not just huge but well led, organised and well equipped. Under such
authoritative and commanding leadership the Piedmontese army was soon defeated. Radetsky s army
in addition also crushed the revolts in Venice and Tuscany (who had declared themselves as republics)
and who had previously resisted Austrian siege warfare until February 1849. However, it was not just
the power of Austria and it s army which contributed to the failures of the revolutions, but the
revolutionaries also contributed to their own downfall. Despite wanting change in Italy, there were
numerous divisions between the revolutionaries such as the liberals and nationalists having different
aims and incompetence in the face of Austria. Such divisions not only affected morale but had
physical impacts such as in the battle of Custoza where the Papal States and Naples withdrew their
troops in favour of their own interests. Furthermore, the divisions between the revolutionaries were
accentuated when the Roman Republic was declared in favour of the Pope being the leader of the
Papal States. The previous Pope, Pius IX had fled to Naples after not being able to declare war on a
fellow Catholic state and continued to work with a constitutional government until his flight from
Rome. The republic was led by Mazzini who took care of all political issues and provided inspiration
whilst Garibaldi was in charge of

The Piracy of Privacy
Throughout history the world has seen significant decreases in privacies. Lately in the United States of
America, many citizens have expressed concern with the government s overreach in personal privacy.
The National Security Agency and other government administrations have been criticized for their
operations. With much criticism, the nation has been seeing a decrease in social networking users and
an increase in hacking abilities amongst citizens. Many have questioned how farther the government
and businesses will go but this can only be told through time.
During the Cold War, at the height of the Red Scare FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover conducted mass
clandestine operations on US citizens. Even before he became director of the FBI, Hoover was
conducting secret intelligence operations against U.S. citizens he suspected were anarchists, radical
leftists or communists. (NPR) The specifics of these programs were not completely released to
Congress or even the Supreme Court for rulings and oversight. Many politicians, journalists and
everyday citizens were subject to these bugs which included wiretapping, stalking and finding your
day to day activities. These spying techniques relate with current internet operations in that the
government is able to track, see and hear everything we do, without our knowledge. On May 17th,
2013 the Washington Post reported that the Department of Justice and the FBI were conducting
surveillance on James Rosen. They soon labeled him a

The purpose of this paper is to determine how innovations in employee benefits can improve the
overall competitive compensation strategy of the organization. Then, it explains how innovative
benefits could be tied to specific jobs. After that, it critiques the effectiveness of equity based rewards
systems versus those with more creative approaches and discusses the key elements of integrating
innovation into a traditional total rewards program. And last, it recommends a process that optimizes
an employee based suggestion program to continually refresh the total rewards of the organization.

Also lack of these benefits may cause losing of that employee. These benefits impact the way
employees feel about their work in a either good or bad way. So companies must create innovative
benefits for their employees. Otherwise they can lose their competitive advantage (Worldatwork,
2007). There are a few benefits that employees will expect as standard. These benefits are usually seen
as priority and can include pensions, medical, dental and life insurance and. Aside from priority
benefits a number of companies need to add extra enticements. These employee benefits can include
discretionary bonuses, performance related bonuses, profit sharing, gym memberships. Employers
who then go the extra mile above standard employee benefits packages may be looking at some extra
loyal employees. Innovative employee benefits are not the normal or standard benefits. They can
sometimes be seen as unusual but can actually be very worthwhile. Examples of innovative benefits
can include: * Flexible working hours for employees * Childcare centers * Benefits that include use
by members of the employee s family * Subsidized meals at staff canteens * Certain companies do
offer subsidized housing to employees * Telecommuting and working from home options * Certain
companies do offer use of company accommodation at holiday centers.

considerable resulting in implications for politics, society and ethics. The future for eBusiness is
bright. It will continue its rapid expansion and may eventually take over from traditional business

Tim Berners Lee developed the World Wide Web in 1989, he wanted it to become a communications
facilitator free from regulation (Berners Lee, 1996). Unfortunately, this type of facility is just not
commercially viable. If the World Wide Web is to be successfully utilized for eBusiness, regulatory
bodies need to standardize practices across the globe. Although individual countries have implemented
laws regarding computer crimes, these laws do not affect offenders outside of that sovereign state.
International legislation must ensure security for all parties involved. Moving towards a solution:
Laws regarding intellectual property should be continuously updated and there must be tougher
penalties for online crimes. This may mean the end of Berners Lee s regulation free vision, but it
provides an opportunity for a new, eCommerce friendly online environment. 5. Risk of Fraud Much

who bears the corresponding risk in conventional commercial transactions. See full paper (URL:

Bessie Vanburen Research Paper
Strolling through the woods one day with my husband we stumbled across a head stone for the late
Mrs. Bessie Vanburen, age 19, beloved wife and mother, died July 11th 1835. Our minds started to
wonder back to a time long passed and the days before Mrs. Bessie was placed here. Mrs. Bessie
Vanburen was born in July 1816 to Mary and David Windburn. She grew up in the small town of
Mcbee, South Carolina, where Bessie s father was a poor dirt farmer, and her mother an underpaid
seamstress. Bessie attended school in her small town, and as she approached her sixteenth birthday, a
new teacher came to town. James Vanburen was a young attractive man. The two soon became smitten
with each other. A few months went by James decided to ask Bessie for a date. Their relationship was
meant to be. After six months James asked David for Bessie s hand in marriage, in 1833 at the age of
17 Bessie became Mrs. Bessie Vanburen. Bessie and James moved around a lot, because he was a
school teacher. The two lived in Camden South Carolina for a few short months. Here the young
couple learned Bessie was pregnant and both were very happy, but Bessie wanted to be closer to her
parents. Mary her mother would be such a help after the birth of the baby. James got his teaching job

Analysis Of Charge Of The Light Brigade
Good morning and welcome back, to Poetry and Society, lesson 5. In today s lesson we will be
exploring the attitudes and morals portrayed in the poem Charge of the Light Brigade written by
Alfred Lord Tennyson; through the literary devices, themes and form, and how they are relevant to the
Crimean War.
Alfred Lord Tennyson, is a renowned British poet from the Victorian Era. Loving books as a little kid,
lead to him to writing a 6000 lined epic poem at the age of 12. Since that age he continued to write
poems and soon enough in 1850 became the most popular poet in the Victorian Era. Two years later
the Crimean war broke out between the Russians and the British. Tennyson, intrigued by the war,
decided to write about the famous Battle of Balaclava; where the British Cavalry had in fact attacked
the wrong unit whilst in battle. This lead to his most famous poem Charge of the Light Brigade, which
informed both people at the time and people now of the mistake the British made.
The Crimean war, an attack of the British attempting to take over land in Ukraine on the Crimean
Peninsula. War at the time was used to unify a nation, as well as inform other countries of the potential
and status of one s country. Britain at the time was slowly expanding out to countries, owning 33
countries at the time. Britain was considered quite patriotic under the ruling of Queen Victoria, men
that went out to fight in the war were doing it purely for their country, and nothing more. This lead

Cause Of Noise Pollution In The United Kingdom
Causes of noise pollution
We are bombarded with sound even when we live in rural areas. From crop dusters to large farm
equipment, we have plenty of sound in the country. In the urban areas, we not only have sound that is
produced at unnatural decibel levels, the sound is reflected from hard surfaces that form at every kind
of angle. We go to theaters and concerts where the ability to magnify sound has developed in
incredible ways. We listen on headphones, where sound is not only concentrated, but the waves pound
the eardrums with persistent and unnatural force.

Inconsiderate people add to the enormity of urban noise by turning up their radios, televisions and
entertainment equipment up as loud as they will go. Some people drive their neighbours to distraction
by vacuuming or playing loud music, or having noisy parties late at night. The biggest cause of
neighbour disputes in the United Kingdom is noise it far outpaces any other factor.
Then there are those inconsiderate people who drive on urban roads with their sound system playing
as loud as it will go. They seem to be saying I like my music, if you don t like it, tough luck. I will
impose my taste on everyone else .
There can be nothing more annoying than when having found a nice place to sit on a beach or in a
public park, some idiot family come and sit right next to your encampment, turn their radio up full
blast and let their noisy children run riot and shout at one another.
Neighbour noise could be lessened if people and companies were more considerate about noise. If
houses and other buildings were built with a view to lessening sounds coming from the building there
would be less noise. If quieter vehicles were designed it might just lessen the constant hum of traffic.
Some countries use quiet road surfaces and these have proved successful in abating noise pollution.
Quieter airplanes, or quieter ways of operating them, need to be designed too.
If you move from an urban area to a rural area you hear sounds that you had forgotten. It is

The Rise Of Japan During The 19th Century
The relationship between the two nations has been noted by many scholars that there is a noticeable
affront that has been built between the youth of the Japanese and the youth of the Chinese, which
began in the 19th century when Japan began its rise to power in East Asia (Westad, 2013). The rise of
Japan during the 19th century was seen as a slap in the face to the Chinese, who believed that they
should be in control of East Asia that they were supposed to be the chosen nation, the leader of East
Asia. These ideologies were said to be passed down from one generation to the next beginning under
the leadership of Mao Zedong, and the founders of the Chinese Communist Party to the today
(Westad, 2013).
These ideologies have led too many Chinese regarding the wealth made by the Japanese, and Japan s
relationships with the United States as ill gotten gains; Japan is currently the main Asian ally for the
US (Westad, 2013). The belief was that wealth of the Japanese was meant for the Chinese and as
history has progressed forward the belief has created a rife between the two nations that can be felt
more now than it did when the nations were at war in 1937 (Westad, 2013). Ultimately, the Chinese
Japanese rife came to a head when Japan rose to power during the 19th century, and incited a war due
to their greed and expansionism. The position as the East Asian superpower was and still is regarded
as the true position of power for the Chinese and has created a new dynamic as China

  • 2. Should Father s Receive Paternity Leave Essay EN3100: Week 3 Assignment: Argumentative Essay 06/24/2012 Ciera Clark National American University Should Father s Receive Paid Paternity Leave In this day in age we find ourselves wondering if is feasible for men to get paid paternity leave, since women get paid maternity leave after they have their baby. You have to really think about this though, because not all companies pay women to take maternity leave. So why would we pay our men to take paternity leave when not all women get paid when they have no choice but to take off after having a baby. So I want you to ask yourself, Should father s get paid for paternity leave? There are some good aspects to having the father take paternity leave. Say, companies did offer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having the father home will help with daycare cost when the mother goes back to work. There are some potential downsides to men having paid paternity leave. Most countries make parental leave open to both men and women; women take the vast majority of leave. When leave is long, this can have some consequences for women s place in the labor market. For example, in Sweden parents have the right to a parental leave for up to 18 months, but women take nearly 85% of parental leave. The major goal of Swedish policy these days is to encourage men to take more parental leave; already there are two month daddy only leaves, which are lost to the couple if the father doesn t take them. The problem with fathers taking paternity leave is that the fathers are scared to take leave for the fear that they may lose their jobs. Companies should offer paternity leave for expectant fathers. By offering paternity leave for fathers to be companies allow fathers to be a benefit of paid or unpaid time off work to care for their child, make arrangements for the child s welfare, and preparation for the adoption of a child. Generally, offering paternity leave for fathers allows them to benefit the birth of a child. Companies that provide the option of paternity leave grant these fathers the privilege of being present for labor, delivery, and any other emergency procedures that may be necessary. Paternity leave provides the father with an advantage to be able to care for their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing Colonial And Revolutionary American Writers Colonial and revolutionary American writers had quite a few differences, yet were quite similar as well. The dominant interests of revolutionary writers were political and social, whereas the interests of colonial writers were mainly religious and economic. Most of the colonial writers such as John Smith mostly fled from religious persecution in Europe. For example, those aboard the Mayflower had quite a number of pilgrims who had fled from England to Holland, seeking religious freedom. These Pilgrims jumped at the chance to go to the New World, where they could worship however they please. Revolutionary writers, like Benjamin Franklin, sought freedom from tyranny: they focused on breaking free from English rule and taxes. They did not only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on text questions Unit Three: Lab Questions 1. What is the crime that the video focuses on? The kidnapping and death of Charles Lindbergh Jr. The son of Charles Lindbergh was abducted from his family home in 1932. 2.What evidence did investigators have about the crime in the 1930s? That whoever kidnapped the baby used a ladder leaned up against the right side of the baby s unlocked window. Also that they silence the baby because the parents did not hear any sign of struggle from the room. Also that the criminals left the ladder next to a service road and used a car to get away. They also left a ransom note on the babys window demanding 50,000 dollars for the baby s safe return. Plus threatening Lindberg if he involved the police. 3. What ... Also talking about the name Bruno. Plus the person that was given the ransom money was named John. The last thing is the man who received the ransom money described the man and he looked just like John Knoll, and he had an abnormality on his hand which John Knoll did too. 7. What evidence exists to suggest that Charles Lindbergh himself was involved in the kidnapping and death of his son? Do you agree or disagree with this theory? Why? Well for the kidnappers to know that the Lindberghs were at the house they had to have inside source. Lindbergh did not trust the police, used his influence to control the police, and kept all the ransom notes. Also Lindbergh was said to think that his son was not going to be healthy and big like most men. His feelings of having an imperfect child could have caused him to be involved. Yes i do agree with this theory because men tend to be like that. They let what other people think get to them. A man like that who everyone thinks is perfect having an imperfect child is a bad thing to him. He probably wanted to keep that position of people thinking he is perfect and his family is too. 8. A social group is two or more people who identify with and interact with one another (Macionis 108). We also learned about several different experiments and the understanding of each. Social groups are very important. In the text book we learn about two different experiments. The Asch experiment includes a group of students asking to compare two cards and to choose something on the card that matches the second card. Many people in the experiment matched it correctly. Also there were people that would constantly match the wrong ones on purpose. The purpose of the experiment was to recognize if any of the participants of the experiment felt awkward during it. With technology is providing many advantages, but also it has some disadvantages it has on children and adults. There is little room for people that wish to live without technology, moreover than living the way they did in the old days. Technology has its advantages, it s has changed the way people have communicated by email, social media, the way traveling has improved. Have you ever heard the saying Children are born with a cell phone in their hands? In today society, children may not be born with technology in their hands, but they are introduced to it sometimes even before they can even walk. Technology is so advanced than what it used to be, children as young as babies can use it and learn from it. I am for my child using technology, to help learn and to expand her mind. Everything that children see and interact with is involved with technology, for example: cellphones, tablets, video games, and many other things. In elementary school the students are mandatory to learn how to use the computers. This allows the students to learn how to use the computer appropriately. Learning tools for school is at the student figure tips. It s important for children to learn how to research topics, by using the web search. • 7. Should Sports Men Be Paid Research Paper Introduction Sportsmen receive more money than sportswomen in 30% of sports. This has become a hotly debated topic, with some arguing professional sportsmen and sportswomen should receive an equal amount of money, and others arguing sportswomen do not deserve to be paid equally. Should women in sport receive equal pay to their male counterparts? Two arguments FOR Sportswomen effectively perform the same job as sportsmen, and thus deserve to be paid the same. Women train just as hard as men and exert just as much energy as men when in professional sport. Sportswomen also face the same difficulty of competition as sportsmen in professional sport: sportswomen compete against the best sportswomen, and sportsmen compete against sportsmen. Women should be paid the same as men for winning a tournament. No, it is not easier to win the women s tournament than the men s tournament: again, sportswomen compete against the best sportswomen, and sportsmen compete against best sportsmen. • 9. Descriptive Essay On Home Sweet Home Home Sweet Home Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first hunt in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly we were staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses on Zillow. Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we entered. We anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing down the ideal house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived. We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me. One day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every bullet point on our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home had a large southern style front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets. The open and light build was perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two car garage complete with a custom peg wall for tools and built in shelving. Not much further around the house was the back yard, large and completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for me. We knew this was our house; it had to be. As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent s phone began to ring. We ... Destry Rides Again, Mr Smith Goes to Washington, and the Fall of the Hollywood Studio System Thomas Schatz cites the 1950 s as the inevitable end of the Hollywood film studio system, with the signs appearing as early as the height of the second World War (472). However, the seeds of discontent and disintegration within the system were apparent as soon as the late 1930 s, exemplified in such films as Destry Rides Again (1939, George Marshall) and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939, Frank Capra). The production of these two films and the paths down which they led their star (James Stewart), directors (at least Frank Capra), and studios (Universal and Columbia, respectively) are evidence of the decline of the studio system. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The balance of power was thus tipped in favor of the individual filmmakers. These films also served to launch James Stewart s career as a successful leading man (usually next to a star leading lady), particularly in the western genre (The Man From Laramie, The Naked Spur, Winchester 73), as a patriotic all American (It s a Wonderful Life, again with Capra), and working with and as an independent (his infamous contract with Universal and his work with Alfred Hitchcock, both in the 1950 s). Destry Rides Again and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington also raise issues regarding the value placed on dramatic and outright patriotic films in comparison to the value placed on films which serve as mere entertainment. While Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is an overtly political film, Destry Rides Again, in its own way, is highly political and both films reveal that the United States of 1939 was a politically charged nation preparing itself subconsciously to take part in a worldwide war. During the second half of the 1930s, Universal came under a completely new ownership. The traditional owners, the Laemmle family, lost Universal at this time after leading it up and down the mountains and valleys of success and failure. The new owner, J. Cheever Cowdin, set up Robert H. Cochrane and Charles R. Rogers in charge of Universal. They kept the company going, sometimes by thin margins, until the very end of the 1930s ... Hymn Of Not Much Praise For New York City Poem Analysis Hymn of Not Much Praise for New York City There are many literary devices at work in Thomas James Merton s poem Hymn of Not Much Praise for New York City that contribute to the idea that external appearances may not always reflect internal experiences. Merton uses analogies to prisons and hospitals in addition to a number of references to cocaine and suicide in order to lead the reader in understanding that New York City may look extravagant on the outside while the residents inside are suffering. Beginning in the first stanza where he describes New York City as being crazy as cocaine, the poem includes a number of references to the drug, such as the term hopped up peace in the fourth stanza which may refer to an exaggerated sense of tranquility that comes when one is under the influence of cocaine. The third stanza includes what appears to be a description of how it feels to be on the drug, with the idea of minds [filling] with [petitions] and gongs of pulse, which may be side effects of being high. In the fifth stanza, Merton notes that the food in New York City tastes of iodoform. Iodoform has been formerly used as a disinfectant, and can be linked to the clean, sterile smell of hospitals. This line could suggest that many of the residents have been hospitalized because of overdoses or drug related complications, and as a result, all the food they eat reminds them of being in the hospital. Merton is able to lead the audience in believing that these people have been hospitalized due to drug overdoses because he refers to them as [trying] to keep [their] cage from caving in (Merton, Stanza 3). This could be a euphemism for mental breakdowns, including suicide, which could be a result of addiction. This claim is later supported by the idea that the freshest flowers smell of funerals (Merton, Stanza 5). With all the references ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fitness or credibility, of the Grand miracle itself cannot obviously, be judged by the same standard (page 174). The people who view miracles from a supernatural perspective accept that there is an empirical proof which is not just clear in history that can validate all the importance of the Grand Miracle that the Christian religion believe exist. A life worth living is waking up with a positive outlook on what you do and who you are; for that is the key to having a comfortable, easy going life. If you focus on what you have rather that what you don t have you ll be much better off, for gratefulness triumphs over rapacity. Love yourself and others by being all you can be; until then the tranquility that comes with said mindset will not be found. An individual s mindset can be the difference between haven and hardship. By adopting optimistic qualities into to your daily way of life you ll immensely be better off than those who see the glass half empty. The Rise Of Japan During The 19th Century The relationship between the two nations has been noted by many scholars that there is a noticeable affront that has been built between the youth of the Japanese and the youth of the Chinese, which began in the 19th century when Japan began its rise to power in East Asia (Westad, 2013). The rise of Japan during the 19th century was seen as a slap in the face to the Chinese, who believed that they should be in control of East Asia that they were supposed to be the chosen nation, the leader of East Asia. These ideologies were said to be passed down from one generation to the next beginning under the leadership of Mao Zedong, and the founders of the Chinese Communist Party to the today (Westad, 2013). These ideologies have led too many Chinese regarding the wealth made by the Japanese, and Japan s relationships with the United States as ill gotten gains; Japan is currently the main Asian ally for the US (Westad, 2013). The belief was that wealth of the Japanese was meant for the Chinese and as history has progressed forward the belief has created a rife between the two nations that can be felt more now than it did when the nations were at war in 1937 (Westad, 2013). Ultimately, the Chinese Japanese rife came to a head when Japan rose to power during the 19th century, and incited a war due to their greed and expansionism.
