• Started in 1978.
• Provide integrated administrative framework at the district level.
• Integrated institution at the district level which provides all type of
services and facilities to the entrepreneurs.
• Up to1991, 422 DICs were in operation in the country.
• Four metropolitan cities have been kept outside the preview of DICs.
• DICs functions under the 'Directorate of Industries'.
• Each DIC is headed by a General Manager who is assisted by four
functional managers and three project managers.
